pokemon day........been thinking about the gunterleigh pokemon teams i put together last spring
(more specific ramblings below but i did not pick the 'mons based on team composition. a lot of the choices either reflect parts of their characters or relate to various hcs i have.)
some pokemon on their teams i intentionally matched based on themes/typing (dragalge/dhelmise, braviary/corviknight, florges/luvdisc) For Leigh: -torracat matches their colour scheme!! -dragalge relates to some hcs i have for fallen!leigh (eager to get rid of trespassers), and since it coexists with dhelmise despite being territorial that's why they're paired together -autumn sawsbuck cuz i think they're pretty, they have red leaves, and i love autumn -for braviary i liked the ultra sun pokedex info "the more scars it has on its front, the more heroic it's considered to be. those with many scars on their back are mocked by the flock." picturing that in pokemon verse leigh's braviary was ridiculed for having scars on its back and abandoned by its flock, but when leigh catches it they give it a loving home -similarly for gothitelle, i found the pokedex entries about it being able to predict the future/see trainers' lifespans really bittersweet ;uu; but leigh would be there for it despite knowing what it's probably seen -luvdisc cuz i love love!! For Gunter: -polteageist is a pokemon gunter's had since his youth. eventually it comes to trust leigh too, so gunter and leigh can enjoy its tea together -dhelmise to match with dragalge re: fallen alts, also powerfully strong. something something dhelmise's are sunken ship debris held together by seaweed, gunter in canon is possessed by a water god after sinking into valla. the similarities are too good! -every knight needs a horse pokemon. mudsdale felt like a good match because of its personality -corviknight to match gunter's aesthetic (ever since they announced this 'mon i've thought of pairing them together...) -relicanth……it looks old……admittedly its facial expression reminds me of gunter (in the best way!) -florges relates to the backstory hcs i have for gunter and his first wife meeting at a festival dedicated to flowers. in pokemon verse he and his wife raised their flabébé together to a florges in the valley of flowers where they once lived

Because the talent collected for Pokemon Masters impresses me, I’m making this masterlist post of voice actors. They are divided into four categories: Fresh and Unestablished (VAs who just surfaced in the past few years and haven’t become noteworthy names at the time of their casting), Fresh and Established (VAs whose careers have spanned the late 2010s and are already well recognized for at least one other major role, usually several), Veteran (VAs whose careers have spanned the late 2000s / early 2010s), and Super Veteran (VAs whose careers have spanned the early 2000s or even earlier). Again, bear in mind this reflects their status when cast for this game - obviously, things change: some Unestablished VAs are now starting to become Established, some Established VAs are reaching Veteran status, and eventually Veteran VAs will be known as Super Veterans. Writing Meme
Tagged by @stellaseas
Author Name: Aspendragon for my fanfiction
Fandoms You Write For: Currently Lord of the Rings, but I’ve written for some anime/manga back in the day (Yu Yu Hakusho, Pokemon, Fruits Basket and Ouran High School Host Club to name a few).
Where You Post: Fanfiction.net for my older fics, I’m now delegating my newer and future fics to Archive of our Own and plan on posting original content to Wattpad because I need some accountability.
Most Popular One-Shot: I don’t write these lol.
Most Popular Multi-Chaptered Story: There’s my Fruits Basket fanfic Musouka which was written between the ages of 14-17 and is very cringe-worthy.  Haha but I think my LotR Haldir X OC Fernweh is gaining traction.
Favorite Story You Wrote: Currently Fernweh to be honest although I have a Pokemon story that I had to freeze years ago because I had NO IDEA WHERE I WAS GOING WITH IT lol.  It featured a trainer OC trying to make it in Kanto if Team Rocket won and Red lost.
Story You Were Nervous to Post: Fernweh because although I write fanfic almost weekly I haven’t posted fanfic since I lost steam on the one I began for ME:A which didn’t get much of a reader response from it so i was a little nervous getting Fernweh out.
How Do You Choose Your Titles: Choosing titles and names are favorite word games of mine.  I only write Canon x OC fanfics so I always make sure the OC’s name compliments the Canon character’s name but she can stand on her own (ex. Leigh Anne is a very uncommon and even unheard of and that’s what I was going for to match up with Haldir.  L and H also have an aesthetic appeal for me like S and A.  Names also can’t end the same way like Jay and May.  It’s odd I know).  Then when the OC’s name is picked out I figure out what she’s doing and what she’s trying to do in her life and how she meets canon guy and try and sum it up in the title.  Fernweh is german (the story is set in Germany) and describes a feeling stronger than wanderlust and Leigh Anne is at a point in her life where she’s kind of having a quarter-life crisis and doesn’t want to settle for what she has currently.  It’s important the journey is implied and I’m afraid of being too heavy-handed with it.
Do You Outline: I write the first 2-3 chapters of any story to see if I like it enough to warrant the work of an outline.  When I do I set up according to Brian McDonald’s “Invisible Ink” process and then brain-dump a bunch of ideas I love to write or imagine I would like writing on post-in notes to put into the outline.
Complete: Well….....................................................
Incomplete: Not counting fanfics I made before I graduated high school I have only 1 incomplete fanfic that is published (Fernweh) and 2 that I’ve started but I haven’t published.
Coming Soon/Not Yet Started: When I’m close to or completely done with Fernweh (I’m aiming for March) I plan on publishing/working on a Pokemon Sword Player OC x Piers (appr. 25 hours of play was not enough and it needed so much more Team Yell and Piers!) and FFXV Ardyn X OC (but I need to replay FFXV and play Episode Ardyn).  I’m also seriously considering a Witcher Regis X OC but the OC hasn’t formed properly yet.
Upcoming Story that You’re Most Excited to Write: I’ve already started an original story revolving around a young witch herbalist named Ellowyn with hopes of posting it on Wattpad sometime this month.  I want to chip away at a more extensive outline before I go any further, but Ellowyn and her world is just my take on a fantasy world of humans, elves and orcs just trying to live life without too much drama.  I’m hoping to keep it less than 30 chapters, but we’ll see.

What other fandoms are you familiar enough with to use as an AU prompt? Pokemon Trainer AU? Homestuck AU (they'd still probably die but at least there are lots of ways to come back to life)?
I’m not that familiar with Homestuck, definitely not enough to do an AU.  I read the novelizations of the Pokemon show as a kid but never saw the show or played any of the video games.  I did play the super-obscure Pokemon board game, but most of my trading cards were printed in Japanese (I had a strange childhood), so my experience there is, uh, probably not quite overlapping with everyone else’s.
Anyway, if you want list of all my fandoms… Boy howdy.  I don’t think I can come up with them all.  However, I can list everything that comes to mind between now and ~20 minutes from now when I have to end my procrastination break and go back to dissertating.  So here it is, below the cut:

Disclaimer 1: Like a lot of people who went to high school in the American South, my education in literature is pretty shamefully lacking in a lot of areas.  (As in, during our African American History unit in ninth grade we read To Kill a Mockingbird, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn… and that was it.  As in, our twelfth-grade US History class, I shit you not, covered Gone With the Wind.)  There were a lot of good teachers in with the *ahem* Less Woke ones (how I read Their Eyes Were Watching God and The Bluest Eye) and college definitely set me on the path to trying to find books written/published outside the WASP-ier parts of the U.S., but the overall list is still embarrassingly hegemonic.
Disclaimer 2: There are a crapton of errors — typos, misspelled names, misattributions, questionable genre classifications, etc. — in here.  If you genuinely have no idea what a title is supposed to be, ask me.  Otherwise, please don’t bother letting me know about my mistakes.
Disclaimer 3: I am not looking for recommendations.  My Goodreads “To Read” list is already a good 700 items long, and people telling me “if you like X, then you’ll love Y!” genuinely stresses me the fuck out.
Disclaimer 4: There are no unproblematic faves on this list.  I love Supernatural, and I know that Supernatural is hella misogynistic.  On the flip side: I don’t love The Lord of the Rings at all, partially because LOTR is hella misogynistic, but I also don’t think that should stop anyone else from loving LOTR if they’re willing to love it and also acknowledge its flaws.

Conspiracy theory for Caddie-Leigh and Interiors for Emrys?
conspiracy theory: what are your OC’s beliefs? are they skeptics or do they believe easily? who acts on blind faith? who needs to see to believe?
Caddie-Leigh’s ridiculously intelligent and knows a lot about various cultures’ religion and faiths and believes in all of them,, She loves learning new things and researching,, esp fond of conspiracies and deep web shit. she’ll believe easily but does a lot of research along with. Even if she doesn’t believe she loves knowing about stuff too.
interiors: describe your OC(s) bedroom/home/or a place they consider “theirs”. what’s in it? do certain items have a special significance to your OC?
Emrys is too busy wanderin around doing pokemon trainer shit to have a properly decorated room, but the one at her mom’s house is as goth as she could manage on limited time and budget, and just lots of plushies

Elite Four
Okay I did more. I already did Vivi, the final E4, and Hadley, the champ. Here are the others.
Carmensita is the first E4 member and specializes in steel-type Pokemon. They like fast cars and faster motorbikes. Carmensita races on the side when they can. Cool, calm, and collected. Likes mentoring young kids, probably shows up to trainer schools on their motorbike and shows off for the kids. AAA (AceAroAgen). Partner is a Scizor, and they also have a Skarmory, Probopass, Aggron, Steelix, and Ferrothorn.
Linus is the psychic-type specialist. He loves performing, and puts on a big show each battle. He's flashy and over-the-top, flamboyant and confident. He prefers form over function. Probably brushes his long hair 100 times every day, and wears glittery stage makeup. Pricks his fingers a lot bc he sews his own outfits. His father is a tailor, and his mother was a psychic, too. (I can't decide if his partner Pokemon should be a Slowking or Slowbro.) Has a Beheeyem, Reuniclus, Xatu, Woobat, and female Meowstic.
Leigh is the dragon-type specialist of the E4. Leigh studies mythology and creation lore, with a focus on legendary Pokemon. Her E4 room is like a second office, filled with all the books she can't fit in her home office. She's met Cynthia several times, and even Motley at various ruins. Spent quite a bit of time in Alola studying the Tapus, UBs, and Solgaleo/Lunaala. Genderfluid. Single-minded and hyper-focuses. Thinks out loud. Tends to frame theses out loud as she battles. Partner is a Goodra, with a Kommo-o, Alolan Exeggutor, Altaria, Kingdra, and Dragonite.
Altogether, the E4 get along pretty well, although Leigh and Carmensita tend to come and go as soon as they get time off. As such, Vivi and Linus wind up alone together during their free time. The two often go shopping and hang out in cafés, chatting about fashion, gossiping about cute people and Vivi's crush on Hadley, Linus' shows, and beauty tips. They've become unlikely best friends.
