No need for a resolution to max their Cooking skill next year, we managed to squeeze it in before midnight! And somehow we're halfway through the Gourmet Cooking as well. (Is it just me, or does that one fly by?)

Of course, shortly after crossing the halfway point to someday opening their own restaurant, the official rules were updated to also allow unlocking via completion of the Appliance Whiz aspiration—which seems a lot simpler of a path than maxing 3 cooking skills... Something to consider! 🤔

I took a uni course and the prof repeatedly said that anyone who aced the class had a future in the field the course was about

Prof then 1) did not release ANY grades until *checks watch* 7 weeks after the class ended

2) every single student got a D or F

I just have...so many thoughts on this as a fellow educator, but alas I'm on mobile and it's too hard for me to type.

#the last time this happened i was in my second year of uni in an architecture 101 course #and the prof proudly told us most of us would fail his class #like that's not the goal man #the class i took this time was a post-bacc course for me #but there were actual degree-seeking students in it and the ones i talked to seemed very demoralized #im not demoralized because i joined the class to gain skills that i did in fact gain #and i can assess another educator as Not Knowing What They’re Doing in a way full-time students might not be able to #but yeah #wow

I applied for the medical lab science program I dont have like super high hopes but if it happens it happens if it doesn't it doesn't

Updates will continue after a small break.

Just a heads up that there are 2 families left in round 7 and than there's round 8 and 9 that I've already played.

Those updates will come, soon hopefully, but my queue ran out a bit sooner than I expected, and I just don't have the motivation to write them today (I hardly slept last night) and I'm not sure I will have the time in the next couple of days.

So I'm very very sorry about the little unintentional break.

I'll hopefully get back to writing next weekend, if I do updates will continue next week.

Right, where were we?

Dawson's walls have been up for so long, but a simple acknowledgement of one of the lives he lost brings it all tumbling out...

Dawson got married young. He might not seem the type, but beneath the cocky, sarcastic persona he had cultivated as a pro athlete, he was very much a family man. They had two daughters.

Lily.

Ava.

He loved being a "girl dad."

He was out of town competing when shit hit the proverbial fan. The last conversation he ever had with his wife, Emily, was an argument. He thought he needed to stay, to compete. It wasn't just stubbornness or pride, it was his career—their livelihood! ...but by the time his event was over, flights were grounded and cell towers were down. Major cities were already overrun.

He made it out to the desert, but no further. An old friend made him the most valuable offer in the world: crashing with him in his Oasis Springs bug-out bunker, sharing shelter and supplies, at least for a few days... An offer he couldn't in that moment bring himself to refuse. An offer that eventually stretched into years.

With how quickly everything collapsed—how quickly everyone was gone—it was hard to imagine a scenario where they hadn't... where they weren't... well, you know, townies.

Part of him never forgave himself for not pushing onward, for never even trying to make it home, to see for himself what had become of his family. But imagining anything but the worst case scenario felt so impossible, so hopeless...
