I think the essence of what drives me crazy about current Enlightened Online Leftist Discourse Regarding My Life Personally And Whether This Time Killing Me Is Morally Correct (as in, commentary about the latest episode in i/p violence) is this:
I want a free Palestine.
I don't personally know a lot of people that don't! They might bristle at the tagline, because it's co-opted by people who do in fact want them dead, but as soon as I lay out why it's in literally everyone's best interest, how a non-free Palestine is horrific both to the people of Israel and to the people of Palestine, how pragmatically ridiculous the occupation of the west bank and the siege upon Gaza are (and I am a very pragmatic person), they get it. And I don't mean I debate people online about it - this, too, is a ridiculous concept - I mean having, time and time again, the deradicalization conversation with my friends, and colleagues, and my family. Obviously not only now - I've always been a very principled and argumentative Jew, ever since I became an adult - and I've been alive for, I don't know, a dozen flashpoints and operations and wars at this point, and I don't stop being argumentative and loud in peacetime either, but especially now.
But that's not what "from the river to the sea" means.
When you, gentle soul from across the sea, echo this slogan, you are either:
By apathy or will, ignoring that the sentiment cheers for the mass expulsion and killing of Jews. Indeed, any non-Muslim present from the river to the sea. This doesn't even begin to cover how even Muslim arabs still will not be safe under Hamas rule - and trust me, I don't care if a Hamas apologist told you different. A victory for Hamas (And we're ignoring the fact they do not have the military capacity for it - I hope you are aware of the privilege inherent to not understanding military conflicts) means exactly that. No "rule by the people". No socialistic, Palestinian utopia to be had, which is a fantasy I'm seeing alluded to a lot recently. Just an extension of the horrific power structure in Lebanon and Syria, where Hezbollah - friends and allies to Hamas - have been playing a tango for decades of both refusing to participate in actual government and betterment of civilian lives, while still draining their resources and controlling them with no real contest. "From the river to the sea" is not a sentiment for freedom fighting - it's a sentiment for a final solution to the people living here who are either Jewish, or for some Very Strange And Weird Reason would rather not submit to Hamas rule. You know - Israeli Arabs, secular and Muslim and Christian, Druze, Circassians, Bahai, take your pick. Their suffering, and my suffering - you know, a person who made the strategic error of being born in Israel while Jewish, which is inherently problematic and not okay of me - don't matter to you. Just the fantasy of an easy, morally correct cleanse of the land.
Are well aware of all of the above! You just don't care. You either smugly chuckle that I, and anybody else who will die, deserve it - or that it's an acceptable loss for the aforementioned fantasy. "Decolonization is an inherently violent process", you'll say to me, chillingly, before implying I have a summer home in Brooklyn I can just retreat to when things get tough. Israel is basically Rhodesia, a very popular blog here mentioned flippantly, so what's the issue with all of those lily-white Jews fucking off back home before the righteous freedom fighters strike them down? Well. This might be the part I urge you to open a book, or even Wikipedia or any god damn thing that will explain to you these upsetting, dense things you clearly struggle with.
So finally:
It's easy for me to discount islamophobes. Like, very easy. It's very easy for me to discount insane evangelistics who "advocate for me" simply because I'm a pawn in their religious rapture. It's easy for me to fight against Israeli and Jewish fascists - I have been long before this news item came across your feed, as did the insinuations that some civilian deaths are okay, actually.
It's easy for me for me to see promotions for donations to non-political aid in Gaza. It's easy for me to see the sentiment that hey! Palestinians deserve safe, healthy lives. That they have deserved an independent state, and were unfairly denied one, for decades. It's easy for me to see people saying "You know, the Israeli government is shit, actually, and their actions endanger and promote to the misery of innocents". Because that's right! I wouldn't be voting and protesting and donating for all of these sentiments otherwise!
It's not easy for me to see people, who I honestly held in high regard and saw having well thought out opinions on important matters, inadvertently echo the sentiment that my death is acceptable. That a terrorist organization, who rule over their own territory with fear and violence, are righteous freedom fighters, vox populi, only out to establish a free state. Like hey, their manifesto said otherwise, so it must be all there is - right? That Jews are just hysterical, they can easily live elsewhere - ever since that nasty holocaust business everything's fine abroad. Besides, it was just so long ago who even cares stop talking about it. Hamas, Hezbollah, ISIS, the Ayatollahs in Iran, the fucking Islamic Jihad - are not interested in freedom. They aren't, and echoing their slogan tells me you are either ignoring that, or support them anyway. If antisemitic rhetoric, half truths and lies by omission work on you today, they would have in any period of time. I'm sorry this makes you uncomfortable. I'm not, not really.
Know what your fucking words mean. Have a cursory glance at the history of the MENA and why it's so fucked, one that doesn't boil down to "The Jews, with American help, rolled into where they don't belong". This isn't even a joke. I've seen this braindead, history-revising sentiment repeated so many times, both online and in actual textbooks, that I feel I'm going insane. So many well-meaning people handwringing and assuring each other that repeating genocidal slogans is fine, that calling the i/p conflict "a simple problem" (which means it has a simple solution, right? Just kill the Jews.) is a well-adjusted and intellectual take. That "only the Zionists should die! The rest will be fine :)" I dare you to say that and also give me a correct definition of what Zionism is. Why I, a Jew that advocates for Palestinian statehood and rights and safety and always have, won't also face the wall in your little fantasy.
Freedom to Palestine. Peace in the middle east, fucking yesterday.
A curse and a plague on those who don't want either of those, and just want to cheer on the death of "the other side".
A curse and a plague upon you, when you tell me, smugly, from somewhere safe and far away, "from the river to the sea".

Both Biden and Netanyahu know what they dare not say in public: On a military level, things are not going well. Israel, a nuclear-armed nation state with modern weapons systems and intelligence capabilities and fully backed by the most powerful nation on Earth, is desperately struggling to achieve a meaningful tactical victory over the armed Palestinian guerrilla forces in Gaza. Despite the vast resources Israel has dedicated to its propaganda effort, it is also flailing in its effort to defeat Hamas on that front. On a daily, sometimes hourly, basis, the Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing, and their allies in arms release videos showing successful attacks on Israeli armored vehicles and troop positions. The short films offer a glimpse into another side of this war, the one that Israel and the U.S. do not want the public to see. And the picture that emerges stands in stark contrast to the official Israeli narrative. Fighters from Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad are engaged in urban combat and close-quarters firefights with Israeli forces, and they are inflicting heavy losses on them. They have also published a close-up video of Israeli soldiers in a makeshift tent camp inside Gaza that Hamas fighters filmed by discreetly popping up from tunnel hatches.
[...]
There is no doubt that both Washington and Tel Aviv underestimated the military capacity of the Hamas-led armed resistance. It is one thing to snatch Palestinians off the streets of the West Bank and disappear them into a military court system, a practice Israel has perfected over the decades. It is quite another to defeat a well-armed insurgency that has spent decades building vast underground infrastructure beneath its own territory and training for this very moment.

the 10 crises the world must not look away from:
1. SUDAN
24.8 million people in need of humanitarian aid. a still-escalating war brings sudan to the top of the watchlist. fighting has more than doubled humanitarian needs in less than a year and displaced 6.6 million people- bringing the country to the brink of collapse. more people are internally displaced within sudan than in any other country on earth. in darfur, human rights groups have reported mass killings and forced displacement along ethnic lines.
2. PALESTINE
3.1 million people in need of humanitarian aid (gaza and the west bank). gaza enters 2024 as the deadliest place for civilians in the world. i*****i airstrikes and fighting have had a direct and devastating impact on civilians that will continue to grow as hostilities persist into early 2024, at least. with more than 18,700 palestinians killed, 85% of the population displaced, and over 60% of gaza's housing units destroyed, people living in gaza will struggle to recover and rebuild their lives long after the fighting ends.
3. SOUTH SUDAN
9 million people in need of humanitarian aid. the war across the border in sudan threatens to undermine south sudan's fragile economy and could add to political tensions in the run-up to the country's first-ever elections. meanwhile, an economic crisis and increased flooding have impacted families' ability to put food on the table. a predicted fifth year of flooding could also damage livelihoods and drive displacement.
4. BURKINA FASO
6.3 million people in need of humanitarian aid. as the burkinabè military struggles to contain armed groups, violence is rapidly growing and spreading across the country. roughly 50% of the country is now outside government control.
5. MYANMAR
18.6 million people in need of humanitarian aid. the conflict in myanmar has spread significantly since the military retook political power in 2021. 18.6 million people in myanmar are now in need of humanitarian assistance - nearly 19 times more than before the military takeover. myanmar has seen decades of conflict, but in oct. 2023, three major armed groups resumed clashes with the government. over 335,000 people have been newly displaced since the latest escalation began.
7. MALI
6.2 million people in need of humanitarian aid. dual security and economic crises are driving up civilian harm and humanitarian needs. conflict between the military government and armed groups will likely escalate.
8. SOMALIA
6.9 million people in need of humanitarian aid. somalia faces heightened conflict and climate risks after a record drought. more recently, widespread flooding has displaced more than 700,000 people and will likely continue into early 2024.
9. NIGER
4.5 million people in need of humanitarian aid. a coup in july 2023 triggered massive instability that risks a rapid worsening of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the country.
10. ETHIOPIA
20 million people in need of humanitarian aid. communities across the country are facing the twin threats of multiple conflicts and the likelihood of el niño-induced flooding. the nov. 2022 ceasefire between the government of ethiopia and the tigray people's liberation front (TPLF) continues to hold in northern ethiopia, but other conflicts, particularly in the central oromia region and in amhara in the northwest, are fueling humanitarian needs and raising the risk of a return to large-scale fighting.
11. DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
25.4 million people in need of humanitarian aid. weak state capacity has exposed many congolese to one of the world's most protracted crises, driven by conflict, economic pressures, climate shocks and persistent disease outbreaks. now, a resumed offensive by the M23 armed group is driving up conflict and humanitarian needs. the country enters 2024 with 25.4 million people in need of humanitarian assistance - more than any other country on earth. the magnitude of the crisis has strained services, created high levels of food insecurity and fueled the spread of disease.

On this day, 28 July 1915, the United States invaded Haiti, crushing opposition and setting up a dictatorship which governed the country for the next 19 years. US Secretary of State Robert Lansing claimed the invasion was necessary to end "anarchy, savagery and oppression" in Haiti, and claimed that "the African race are devoid of any capacity for political organisation." The government had been lobbied for some time by US banking interests to occupy Haiti to assert US financial dominance as opposed to dominance by the financial institutions of the French former colonial power. In the years of occupation, the US forcibly dissolved parliament, killed thousands of people – and posed for photographs with their corpses – as well as siphoning wealth from the country. They also tied people up with ropes and forced them to work for no pay, killing people who attempted to flee. US authorities installed a puppet leader, Louis Borno, who admired fascist dictator Benito Mussolini, and had him take out a loan from the National City Bank, the forerunner of Citigroup. Around a quarter of Haiti's revenues then went towards paying for this loan. The measures left Haitian farmers "close to starvation level", according to the United Nations. While formal US colonial occupation ended in 1934, US retained neocolonial financial control of the country through the remaining debt until 1947. Reflecting on his role in the events, US Major General Smedley Butler stated that he "helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues," and described himself as a "racketeer for capitalism." Microwave Sponge Cake (eventually)
Long ago, @dduane and I had a Whirlpool combi microwave - micro, grill, fan oven - and It Was Great, big enough to use as a proper oven when what needed cooked in a proper oven was small enough that powering up the big proper oven in the cooker was a bit much.
Still with me...?
IIRC it was one of those Christmas presents where Mum, ever-practical, told us; "get yourselves something really useful but not too expensive (I did say practical!) and I'll go halves."
In 2016, after something like 15 years of pretty-well daily use for one thing and another, the old thing expired by stages, micro first, grill second, oven last - it made great bread up until the end - and went to recycling heaven.
*****
We couldn't find a one-for-one replacement (we needed a free-standing counter-top appliance, everyone was selling built-in), so until once was available (optimism) we bought an ordinary microwave.
NB, this and its successors were only used for ordinary microwave things like reheating, defrosting and dealing with freeze-cook stuff. They got nothing like the amount of use of the old combi, mostly because of being incapable of doing a lot of it. As things turned out, this didn't help much.
About eighteen months later, we had to buy another. If a microwave's enamel interior develops a crack (to this day I don't know how), moisture gets in, rust begins and the enamel pulls off the bare metal. That's when you get "sparking".
This demo is deliberate; believe me, when it's unexpected it's even worse.
youtube
A private welder show or lightning storm at the end of the kitchen counter when all you want is a hot cuppa is distinctly unsettling. Also, it's only going to get worse, and we could imagine - boy, could we - what "Much Worse" might look like.
To the recycle dump!
(NB, micros with stainless steel interiors don't seem to do this, probably because they're already tuned to deal with the bare metal.)
The replacement, another ordinary micro, Just Up And Died after eighteen months and, guess what, the quote for a check-up and replacements-if-required was as much as the price of a new one.
(Inkjet printers seem to operate on this principal too.)
To the recycle dump again!
We got a third new one (which BTW is still running just fine, because it's been downgraded to Extra, read on), totalled up what we'd spent on ordinary microwaves, said a few well-chosen words about planned obsolescence and the "Vimes 'Boots' Theory of Economic Inequality" and got ourselves a pre-pay credit card whose top-ups were dedicated to Get A Combi Again.
We didn't bother with GACA baseball caps.
That would have been silly.
I don't know if these cards exist in the USA; we treat them as the modern version of a piggy-bank...
Tumblr media
...except that to get at the money you need two people acting in accord.
Tumblr media
*****
And in 2021 we got one.
Tumblr media
Okay, this next bit is going to read like an ad.
It isn't, because the appliance is discontinued. (Whirlpool FINALLY do something similar but not identical.) It's just enthusiastic users discovering there's even more to a gadget than expected.
*****
The New One even bigger than the old one, which had 28 litres capacity; the new one was 33 L (was .99 ft³, is now 1.16 ft³). In non-tech terms, wow, More Room To Cook In.
Reading the figures was no help (to me, anyway) in visualising what a maw the thing had, but opening the door did that and no mistake.
Tumblr media
I said something to DD about "bite radius"...
Tumblr media
...and she instantly responded with "anyway, we delivered the bomb".
Tumblr media
We're a quotesy household. ;->
BTW, The New One does a very good job on seafood, too...
*****
Since we got this, almost exactly two years ago, we've used it from reheating tea to roasting meat to making chilli / goulash / stew / curry (you can run the oven / grill separately or add simultaneous zaps of microwave for much less cooking time) to baking bread.
One of the best things about it is that when the set cooking time is done, the appliance switches off automatically. No risk of busyness, absent-mindedness or out-in-the-garden-ness ending in clouds of smoke, ruined food and possibly even worse.
As for breadmaking, it has a dough-rise setting which is a Time Machine, reducing a two-hour "doubled in size" rise time to about 35-45 minutes...
It also has the most reliable Defrost Butter setting either of us have ever encountered, turning a rock-solid butter brick from the freezer into something spreadable while never - to date - doing the "never mind a butter-knife, give me a spoon or a paintbrush" thing.
*****
However...
There's also a "Chef Setting" where there are some simple recipes. Here's the pastry page.
Tumblr media
Basically, you assemble and mix the ingredients, input the correct settings and the machine does all the timing, heating and cooking.
We'd never used this until yesterday, when DD said, "Let's try the sponge cake..."
Tumblr media
Yes, this post was entitled "Microwave Sponge Cake (eventually)..." and here we are...
We did all the measuring correctly and checked it by pouring the mixture into a baking container while on the scale, wondering betimes why the recipe says 900g, the ingredients total 925 and what actually poured into the container reads 906... Weird. Really weird.
Then we put the container into the oven, entered the correct code, and let things do what they were going to do.
A little later we discovered something else about the recipe besides a weight anomaly.
It didn't mention the required size of the container. Or or how much the mixture was likely to rise.
It rose...
Let's say more than we expected...
Tumblr media
The fluted ceramic container used for baking this one makes it look like a Vesuvius cupcake; not quite a pyroclastic flow, but a lot of flow regardless.
Once it cooled we separated the sponge-cake from the escaped sponge in the same way as sculptors work with wood or marble - "Chip away everything that doesn't look like a cake" - and found that despite its misshapen looks, it tasted pretty good.
So today DD made another, this time using a larger container.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...and this time it stayed put until removed using the cunning base-and-lifting-straps of baking parchment.
Tumblr media
It's not the loftiest or best-risen sponge cake either of us have ever seen (a smaller-diameter higher-sided container would probably deal with that) BUT if there's something needing sponge cake in a hurry - this went from cupboard ingredients to done and cooling in less than 55 minutes - that treatment seems to fit the bill.
We're now wondering what other secrets lurk in the simple recipe pages; falafel, quiche Lorraine, stuffed peppers, even Flammkuchen* from scratch.
(*Though I have my own views about Flammkuchen, mostly involving a plane flight...)
And we'll be paying a lot more attention to what size of dish we put them in. :->

The ask you answered about Seaweed Cookie vs The World reminded me of Scott Pilgrim vs The World. So on that topic, who would be y/n cookie's seven evil exes that any cookie would have to battle to win y/n cookie's heart?
Tumblr media
League of Evil Cookies
It was completely intentional with Scott Pilgrim Takes Off fresh on my mind. While not necessarily exes, these cookies would still be obstacles in Seaweed’s (or any cookie’s) goal of having a relationship with you.
Tumblr media
Croissant Cookie would be incredibly confused, she thought you and her were getting along very well. It made her wonder if she shouldn’t have hesitated in making a move on you before you were scooped up by this literal who. Maybe she can get a certain keeper of time to help settle the score with this hurdle?
Tumblr media
Pomegranate Cookie would be one of the more aggressive of the seven, insulted that this complete stranger in her eyes would just take you from her, she’d have such a bitter attitude towards them that it can be seen from a mile away. Pomegranate is dabbling into as much curses as she can to see what gets your partner out of the picture fast.
Tumblr media
Those that smell the scent never leave alive and that especially applies to your partner when he comes after them. Lilac Cookie doesn’t think they’re capable of protecting you, seeing you hurt is something he doesn’t want to see in his lifetime. That might just occur if this…annoyance continued being your partner, so he’s taking matters into his own hands..
Tumblr media
Kumiho Cookie is sensitive when it comes to any form of loving relationship development, given her history with you…she would up the charm and flirting antics with you as her attempt to swoon you over to her. She’s ignore your partner at first, seeing them as irrelevant. But when it was clear her tactics won’t work, she’s not afraid of an actual fight if that’s what it takes to bring you into her arms…
Tumblr media
White Lily would have a heart attack if she learned of your recent relationship upgrade with this cookie she was not familiar with. It would crush her, the dreams she’s had of one day being wed to you are beginning to fall apart. She’s not going to risk a physical fight, she’s not exactly Hollyberry Cookie level strong. She’d rather use whatever she can get her Soul Jam to do instead…or just beat your partner to near death with her staff, anything to stop this relationship between you and them!
Tumblr media
Scorpion Cookie isn’t going to be as brazen or obvious with her challenge to your partner once she’s made aware of their existence, something they will regret. Poisoning attempts or sneak attacks are possible forms of elimination Scorpion Cookie, which can change at any point during each attempt. Paranoia is another element Scorpion will bank on to eventually get your partner to leave you from fear, making comforting you her next plan..
Tumblr media
Black Pearl Cookie would be the type to take the lead role of the League, your partner should VERY MUCH fear the water. She’d make every day and night a living hell for them, behaving nothing but nasty towards them until they leave you. Your partner should not even try to confront them, her power far exceeds theirs in every capacity, making it certain death if a face to face fight ever occurred. Oh? You’d think she’s above getting help to help deal with your partner? Well…let’s just say that she’ll even bring in some mercookie friends of hers to help rescue your pure soul from this filthy piece of dough that calls themselves your partner...
Tumblr media
But there’s no need for you to worry about anything, she’s only vengeful towards that cookie unworthy of your love! Remember, White Pearl Cookie loves you so much!

Bird Symbolism in the Fukufuku Breakup Scene
Ok silly title aside, I need to write this up quickly because the addition of these birds to the anime in this scene made me insane I think.
Tumblr media
[ID: A screenshot from Bungou Stray Dogs Season 5 Episode 9. Two long-legged water birds, the left a smaller white bird, and the right a larger grey, stand knee-deep in the water. The colours are bright - the water is a bright crystal blue and pink cherry blossom petals have fallen on its surface. The green of the grass on the opposite bank can be seen in the background. End ID.]
The gray bird flies onto the scene as Fukuchi starts his conversation with Fukuzawa. They speak as friends. But then the conversation turns to the war, and Fukuchi's growing rank and reputation. The gray bird flies off, alone.
Seems pretty obvious. Two birds. One flies away. I could quote the Regina Spektor song for pain if you want.
But I wanted to dig into it because, well, firstly because I made a mistake. I thought, when I glanced at them on my first watch, that these were cranes and lost my actual mind, but on looking at them again, they aren't... but the symbolism became even more intriguing.
The white bird looks to be a Little Egret, and the grey a Grey Heron. I have pictures here so you can see I'm not just making things up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: Two pictures of real birds, one a Little Egret, and the other a Grey Heron. End ID.]
Both herons and egrets are symbols of grace and dignity. This is suitable for both characters, who are well-respected for their skill and are considered honourable men. Egrets in particular are considered messengers, which may be reminiscent of Fukuzawa's "middle man" type position at this point, not a member of any particular organization, while herons are said to be able to move across three elements, which makes them powerful symbols of divinity, reminding me of Mirror Lion and its capacity to amplify any weapon's power, or perhaps his overblown-heroic reputation. Overall, the birds have fairly similar meanings, grouped as auspicious birds (together with cranes), and are symbols of longevity, especially when paired (being monogamous pair-bonding species - at least seasonally).
But there is a significant difference between the symbolism of the two birds.
The egret is also a symbol of solitude. The heron, a symbol of duty.
So when the heron looks to the egret, it is looking for a partner to join it in its duty it must fulfill. The egret, however, is a solitary creature by nature, and must refuse. The pairing isn't just broken in this scene - the birds were never compatible in the first place. What the heron requires is not something the egret can give. They go their own separate paths to handle things in the way they do best - the heron leaves to somewhere far away to carry out its duty to its comrades, while the egret, independent of this duty, attempts to end the same fight in its own way, alone. And yet... as the heron flies away, the egret still turns its head to watch it leave.
In this sense, also, the longevity symbolism is broken too. To have one of these birds fly off and leave the other one - something that should've been long-lasting, this partnership, is cut short, ended abruptly.
...Which brings me to the cherry blossoms. They're everywhere in this scene, and I'm pretty sure we all know they are symbols of the transience of life, etc. The tree that separates the two in the scene, the petal being cut in half - cherry blossoms are not only symbols of transience, but also of the importance of treasuring such fleeting moments. Here, these moments are shattered. Their time is at an end.
When Fukuchi and Fukuzawa meet again, they will be forever changed by the events that occurred during their separation.
It's just a really nice adaptation of the scene.

Bade farewell to the Hero
It’s the onset of dawn. The dark night sky transforms into a beautiful shade of cotton white, colored with various hues of purple, blue, and pink. The sun, as usual, is slowly rising on the banks of the dark Yamuna, but today, her ethereal black waters carry a silent grief of her own as well as of the town of Vrindavan.
As beautiful as the dark night sky, lotus eyes as deep as the Yamuna waters, there sleeps the young beloved lad of Vrindavan, Krishna on the lap of the moon-like beauty of the town of Vrinda, Shri Radha.
“Have you taken your flute, Kanha?” Her soft voice, no more than a whisper, causes the young boy’s eyes to open in sudden remembrance.
Radha sighs with a small smile on her lips. Her nimble fingers bring out the familiar bamboo flute decorated with a peacock feather and pearls from her waistband. Her fingers reverently touch the flute for one last time. Radha’s kohl-rimmed eyes flutter close, as her fingers close upon each of the seven holes of the flute. There is no music playing anywhere nearby, but only her heart hears the heart-wrenching tunes of separation.
Krishna’s fingers tremble while holding the flute as realization sets in. The moment the chariot wheels cross the boundaries of Vrindavan, his flute would eternally go to sleep. The city of Mathura has no loving gopikas, adorable cows, and young boys with him to play the flute all day.
“Being a simple cowherd is not your destiny, Krishna.” Radha tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear. As she looks at the tear-laden eyes of her beloved, she steels her breaking heart, her sorrowful eyes now staring at him like a powerful queen going on a battle.
“Your existence is meant for great things. You are to live your life like a king.” She points at the crowd assembled at Chief Nanda’s house, a grand cottage that looks tiny from the heart of the forest where they are in. “You have saved us and this town countless times. The world needs you. You are to be a savior for the whole world. For the whole Yuga.”
Krishna gulps his tears down his throat, which now burns like the fire of separation burning his heart. As a lone tear skids down his cheek, Radha’s voice grows bolder, and for a moment he wonders, how much strength does she silently possess in her being.
“Choose the path that leads you to your destiny, towards your dharma.”
Radha stands up. The golden rays of the morning sun fall on her gentle face coating her fair skin with a powerful glow. Krishna stands in awe of the splendor that adorns her face. Goddess. That’s what she is. That’s what she has been.
“You are the rising sun of Dwapar.” She holds Krishna’s hand and entwines her fingers with his. Walking towards the narrow forest path, Krishna observes Radha’s gait. She always walked with a swan-like grace combined with a little shyness on her face each time she entered the forest to meet him. Today, she walks with her chin raised, her eyes fixated on the path ahead that shall lead them both away from their love-filled carefree times forever.
Within moments, they reach Akrura’s chariot. Radha knows that Krishna hasn’t spoken a single word to her. She knows that he won't be able to do so, nor does she have the capacity to hear his enchanting voice when he is on the verge of departure.
The whole crowd looks at their hero. Krishna looks at the tear-stricken face of his parents. He hears the loud sobs of his lovely gopikas who pampered him with butter and milk sweets. His eyes gaze over the grim faces of his childhood friends. The cows of Vrindavan stare at him, sadness clouding their eyes, but those poor creatures can’t speak a word.
Gulping the last of his tears that clog his burning throat, he steps onto the carriage. Radha smiles. Krishna’s eyes meet her once again and she keeps on smiling.
It will get easier to leave, Kanhaiya. Baby steps.
Radha takes four steps towards the chariot. Handing over Krishna’s flute to him, she slowly moves back, her eyes fixed to the ground. The crowd goes silent. The sobbing gopikas cease crying and keep looking at the scene ahead.
Radha folds her hands and bows her head to Krishna. His heart cracks open at the gesture. He bows down to her all humbled.
“You may leave now. We wish you well on the journey ahead. Make us all proud!”
Radha then takes her position beside Yashoda who is on the verge of losing her consciousness. Nanda holds her shoulders, in case she falls to the ground in grief, but only Radha sees how his fingers shakily rest on his wife’s shoulders.
All this while, not a word had escaped Krishna’s lips. The hero must always promise a return to his loved ones.
“My beloved Vrindavan people, fret not. This separation is only momentary. I shall come back soon to tell you all about Mathura. There’s no escape from my pranks. Go, rest for a while before your loved prankster comes back.”
Radha’s vision goes blurry. Her dark beloved appears to go far from her.
“Such a mischievous liar you are O Shyam…”
The sun is soon to rise for Dwapar, but for Vrindavan, the sun has gone to sleep forever.

I am sorry :(
This was a dance idea but I decided to write a fic on this and then choreograph the abhinaya. I have cried while practicing this out too. Let's share tears??
Oh, yes I do love showing Krishna in mortal shades with grief, confusion and dilemma clouding him sometimes too. :)

THE GEMINI ARCHETYPE
﹕PLANETARY RULER: MERCURY
﹕ELEMENT: AIR
﹕MODALITY: MUTABLE
﹕POLARITY: DIURNAL
﹕SYMBOL: THE TWINS (CASTOR AND POLLUX)
﹕BODY PART RULERSHIP: THE LUNGS, NERVES, ARMS, AND HANDS
﹕PLANETARY DIGNITIES: MERCURY IN GEMINI (DOMICILE), JUPITER IN GEMINI (DETRIMENT)
↝ before we get into this i feel like we have to acknowledge the negativity surrounding gemini lmao. gemini (alongside scorpio) is a sign that gets unnecessarily dragged, so much so to the point where people will unironically refer to negative stereotypes when describing the nature of the sign. i say all that to say, the “two-faced” stereotype is so tired. gemini is an air sign and is ruled by mercury, which means it’s driven by mental stimulation. gemini has the capacity to see things from all sides, and will actively go out of it's way to reach an answer on it's own and typically won't settle for whatever answer is given to them. people can struggle to understand gemini energy because it's very difficult to pin down, and this isn't a result of them being evasive in the way that libra or pisces can be, as gemini is very passionate and unafraid to voice their opinions. it's just that they tend to have very passionate opinions about quite literally everything, so much so that those around them can struggle to know what it is that they actually do stand for.
↝ gemini is a very adaptable, ever-changing sign, and people with prominent gemini placements tend to excel in communication due to the fact that they can innately understand where other people are coming from regardless of their differences. they're also very fast-paced, and even erratic at times in regards to consuming information as well as expressing it, it's why they tend to excel in academia (that they're actually passionate about) as well as creative fields, specifically writing and music. they have a knack for weaving together concepts and ideas that the average person wouldn't think to, which can make them pioneers in their field of expertise. they tend to be very naturally charismatic, and people who have a good amount of gemini in their chart are definitely the types who can walk into a room and captivate everyone in it.
↝ i also feel like a lot of gemini slander is derivative of the fact that geminis don’t necessarily have the best roster when it comes to representation lmfao. donald trump, kanye west, amy schumer, johnny depp, and azealia banks are very accurate representations of unevolved gemini energy in their own ways. someone with unevolved gemini placements is contrarian, self-serving, and overly occupied with playing devil's advocate. and while the latter can be understood, and even beneficial in certain cases, there are cases where gemini may need to step back and ask themselves why they're constantly advocating for the devil. gemini's hate acknowledging it, but there are situations where the mental gymnastics aren't called for or necessary, and the answer that they're wracking their brain for is very obviously in their face.
↝ it's important to remember that this isn't representative of gemini as a whole, though. gemini's purpose is to build the bridge between different ideas, concepts, people, and cultures. albeit, gemini definitely has to work towards being more empathetic, and receptive to the emotional stakes that are held within certain ideologies. having emotional intelligence is more important than being perceived as being intelligent. gemini innately understands the depth of certain philosophies, and with that power they need to be conscious of the fact that it can be easily weaponized and used as a means to placate their own ego instead of progressing society forward. ultimately, there is a reason why so many artists (rappers specifically) are geminis. they have the innate ability to connect people through their chosen form of self-expression, and it's very beneficial when their talents are actually used to bring people together to understanding varying perspectives.
﹕GEMINI CELEBRITIES: andré 3000, angelina jolie, azealia banks, brian cox, chris evans, faith evans, kanye west, kendrick lamar, lauryn hill, laverne cox, lisa lopes, marilyn monroe, naomi campbell, normani, pam grier, prince, remy ma, tom holland, tupac shakur, zazie beetz

When William Ruto was sworn in as Kenya’s fifth president in September 2022, he used his inauguration speech to demand an end to humanity’s “addiction to fossil fuels” and reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to reach 100% clean energy by 2030. Kenya is not far off this target today.
In 2021, 81% of Kenya’s electricity generation came from the low carbon sources of geothermal, hydro, wind, and solar power. Over half of this low carbon electricity came from geothermal energy, which Kenya has in abundance. So much in fact, that excess geothermal energy is released during the night when electricity demand is low. Installed geothermal capacity in Kenya could be increased by at least eightfold, which could open opportunities for scaling up green manufacturing capacity or exporting excess electricity to neighbouring countries.
Renewable rollouts have substantially improved energy access. In 2013, around 28% of Kenyans had access to electricity. By 2020, this had risen to over 71%. This was achieved as the population grew by over seven million over the same period, while the rate of urbanisation continued to gather pace. According to the World Bank, barely one million Kenyans had electricity in 1990 [which, back then, was approximately just 5% of the population].
Ruto’s words, and Kenya’s actions, are timely due to the backdrop they are made against. Amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the vacuum created in global energy markets, European leaders and multinational fossil fuel firms have launched a ‘dash for gas’ across Africa, where a raft of new oil and gas projects, as well as old ones, are being given the green light. At COP27, Ruto kicked back against the dash for gas, stating that “we [Kenya] have taken a position that as a country we are going green and we are well on course.”

Astro Observations - Lucky Edition.
**Based off of my opinion and experience. If it doesn't fit your situation, that's okay!**
Planets that I think are lucky or could indicate great fortune or success. (Mostly fire sign edition)
Tumblr media
Midheaven: Leo in the 10th house:
Likely to be a supervisor, mentor, or role model. You find the best opportunities through self-expression. You may forced into the limelight, which you may struggle with because you're also a very private person. Your accomplishments will also be highly praised in public settings. Allow yourself to create results that are important or meaningful to you. This will help you achieve success.
Careers: Management, Entertainer, Artist, Designer, Media, Marketer, Teacher. You need roles that allow you to make decisions and express your individuality.
MC conjunct Sun: You're resilient. Success is guaranteed for you, though the road can be bumpy at times. Be careful when it comes to your ego. Make sure you listen to the needs of others that you must collaborate with.
MC Trine North Node: You can't hide from capturing the attention of figures of authority. In fact, you always seem to be publicly recognized for your successes, even if it makes you uncomfortable. Your sense of purpose may be strong and you have some valuable knowledge to teach humanity. Think "Right place, right time" kind of energy.
Sun in Leo in the 10th House: Commonly recognized as "fame" placement. You might have the desire to transform the world in some capacity. And you just might succeed. You're hard working and extremely self aware, which allows you to reflect on your choices. You may be forced to put yourself out there to gain success though.
5, 17, 29 Degree Placements: Commonly known as the "fame degrees."
Jupiter in Aries in the 6th house: "Leader" should be tattooed on your forehead, because you radiate this energy. You can find abundance in just about any job you pursue. Your abundance could come from you day to day job. You'll receive immense luck once you've found a job you adore. Downside? Others may see you as bossy if you aren't in a posistion of leadership to exercise this confident energy. If you haven't embodied your confidence, you may be prone to anger. Work on self-love to shift this.
Careers in teaching, education, publishing, customer service, or a career related to animals. You're a natural healer, so it could be in any career where you're taking care of others' well-being.
Jupiter in the 12th: Many people are afraid of the 12th house, but there's something about Jupiter in the 12th that defies those stereotypes. 12th house Jupiter's are seen as "guardian angel" placements. You are often protected in the most bizarre circumstances. You may be someone that has weird synchronicities when everything appears to be falling a part. Your car broke down a day before pay day? The person towing it significantly discounts the price. Not sure how you're going to pay your power bill? A random deposit you forgot about hits your bank account. You're not necessarily luckier than others, but your bad luck may turn around quickly.
Moon Conjunct Jupiter: You're probably super optimistic and generous. You're also a manifestation magnet. If you want, you got it.
