I really love the Israel-Palestine discourse on this site it's like 40k factions having a chat.

One outrage farmer posts a screencap of a twitter influencer's unsourced claim that the Israelis have turned off all of Gaza's sewage and Gaza is being flooded with shit. (the influencer was famous for celebrating the October 7 pogrom and mass torture/rape/kidnapping stuff)

Israel supporter replies to the thread like "fuck yeah drown them in shit" to which Palestine supporter wishes that the (((Zionists))) go back to Europe and/or die (calls them pigs which I'm fairly sure is a hate crime on top of the wish of violent harm on their entire race).

The (((Zionist))) (not the drown in shit guy) he was yelling at is like "but my family are IRAQI where are we gonna go?" to which he got a lot more bile and anger that his family survived the Holocaust. I'm pretty sure if images in replies were allowed, the pro-Palestine guys would have posted a picture of a gas chamber.

Deescalation of this conflict is flat out impossible because of all you smoothbrained barbarians. The only answer now is to invest in military contractors and reap big $$$$

Catching Hands, Feet and Chairs

To be honest I don't really fucks with reality TV, especially those programs started by whyte folks where Black people commit violence and hostility towards each other for the benefit of views. Outside of RPDR which I left years ago for Mr. Charles problematic new behavior as someone with new-found wealth, I didn't have any of this unscripted drama in my life. I felt this was better for the soul. In the same vain I had forgone watching the systematic violence that police et al performed on Black bodies. My mental health was tentative on a good day, I didn't need that poison taking up residence in my head.

But yesterday while Tumbling, a video showed up in my feed, it seemed to be some ClipClock footage showing some kind of brawl. And listening to NPR at that time I hadn't heard of any news that correlated to what I was seeing, so I just thought it was some random occurrence. It would be later that I would hear about the brawl by an Alabaman boat dock started of course by some obstinate whyte folks.

I will readily admit, when it started to auto-play I truly didn't know what I was watching. Some Black dude wearing something that clearly looked like a uniform threw his hat in the air and these white thugs were attacking him. I was like #WTF is going on, and truly I wanted to pull myself away but like a well-crafted drama it kept getting better. Another person who was initially out of frame seemed to be running to this brother's rescue. I was aghast because these white terrorist were beating this man like he had no one who loved him.

What was taking me out was the background comments from the onlookers who were clearly also Black, you can hear their outrage and more and more quickly responded to the ongoing melee happening on this dock, including one young blood who literally jumped in the water and swam over to assist his skin-folks. I saw sisters wearing traditional summer-wear the long dresses that Black womens love to wear, come on down to let the Karen's know, NOT TODAY KAREN! #👊🏿

I had mixed feelings of bemusement, shame, pride, anger and satisfaction as I saw these clearly entitled whyte folks catch hands, feet and chairs! Seriously this has been the highlight of two-thousand and twenty three in my humble opinion. All the shenanigans going on in this country it felt like a societal releasing of steam, as these Black hands rose up to defend one of our own. I felt such solidarity with everyone there and the feelings of being sick and tired of being sick and tired. I realize that the whytes are also human beings, but I think I am not alone in feeling like they think they should take up all the oxygen not leaving any for anyone else. That any space that they occupy is obviously and naturally theirs!

Trust, I am not even mad at chair-guy beating some sense into those whyte skulls and I know that collectively we will protect his identity irregardless of the authorities pursuit of him. These people inadvertently were expressing the frustration we all have every day for the micro-aggressions, the unapproved loans, the unsigned lease, the job not awarded, the raise that never came, the promotion that went to someone else, to the missing that were never found, to using our pain as a tool in some political game. We're done! And this even for a moment was a healthy way to let of some steam off and beat the ass of the figure-head of white supremacy!

Why the World Needed 'Wakanda Forever'

I have seen almost every Marvel movie in theaters on opening weekend.. and I have NEVER cried so hard and I have never felt SO CONNECTED to fellow movie-goers.

!!!! SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!

So before we get into the deep-dive, let's do a quick recap of the smash hit sequel. Also disclaimer: as I am drafting this post, I have only seen Wakanda Forever once on opening night - I will most likely see this again in theaters (and/or I'll definitely re-watch it once it drops on Disney+) so if I'm missing some parts in this first initial review/deep-dive I will revisit it in a later post!

All OG Marvel fans are aware of how meaningful the iconic Marvel Studios comic-film intro can be - and Wakanda Forever uses this at full force; the theatre is heavily quiet as montages of Chadwick roll within the letter formations, and we see what looks like newspaper articles repeating T'chala's name, announcing his death. The deafening silence contrasts the intro that was used to honor the passing of Stan Lee - which opened 'Captain Marvel.' At my theater, no one said a word during the intro, then many clapped respectfully as the sequence concluded. Shuri tries to gauge T'Chala's health status via the suit, and she says to her mother after the funeral "how could I have not detected an illness was killing him" - which alludes directly to Chadwick Boseman's death; he passed from terminal cancer and no one was even aware he had been battling it all these years. In the bird's-eye view of the city during the funeral procession, we see a mural of T'Chala on a tall city wall; it is eerily similar to the mural in [x] honoring George Floyd. The film skips ahead one year. The Queen and Shuri are on an isolated beach to burn their funeral attire - meant to symbolize the end of the grieving period and the need to move on - when Daddy Namore (sorry, Daddy? Sorry - he's so hot) approaches the women from the water and offers a deal - that Wakanda ally itself to Namore's kingdom of [x] against the other countries attempting to steal their vibranium, or they go to war.

This movie is needed by the WORLD on so many levels; for one, this film is fully embracing the privilege and opportunity it serves for representation. A lot of the filming takes place in Haiti and Peurto Rico - nations which tend to be represented poorly and stigmatized as impoverished third-world nations; to quote a TikToker who goes by the name of [x], the shots filmed in Haiti demonstrate beauty and dignity - rather than perpetuating a negative poor image. When I think if Haiti, for a long time the only thing I could think of was that terribly destructive hurricane back when I was in elementary school - I think we might've had a fundraiser/donation drive at school to help aid survivors. I had been taught and primed to think that Haiti was destroyed in that hurricane, and heard no other narrative. The same can be said for Peurto Rico - I'm a film connesiuer and I can't think of a single film that enlightened me about what PR is like; the only thing I know/affiliate PR with (prior to this movie at least) is that it's a good vacation spot - according to a friend who took a spring break there.

This movie also brings a blood-deep taboo conversation to the fore-front; race war. Unfortunately, despite the similarities amongst colonized minority cultures, war and violence are not immune - as a multi-racial person myself, I can attest that race war is not solely reserved to white Americans and Blacks.
