Summary:

You still up for random Shadowhunter ramblings? I totally got pulled into Reyhill and I kinda want to ramble about the idea of Lorenzo slipping into Spanish in intense situations and this little habit of his being the catalyst that causes him to open up more and more. It could have been just me, but I think that we could hear his Spanish accent more during the Edom scenes and I am kinda building up on that here. At first Lorenzo tries to keep this hidden, but after meeting Andrew this habit comes out for the first time, after he shows Andrew his Warlock Mark. He is uncharacteristically nervous, but Andrew does not understand a thing, because he is without any skills in that language. From there on out it develops more and more. Sometimes with Andrew, for example when he gets hurt, sometimes with others, like with Magnus doing something dangerous and Lorenzo blurting out in Spanish that he does not want to lose him, as he is one of his few friends and unlike Andrew Magnus DOES know Spanish, or with Madzie just being a kid and narrowly avoiding getting injured, while Lorenzo has to care for her and he is just so worried that he goes on a rant in Spanish. Madzie does not understand one word, but she is all ‘I’m okay, please don’t worry.’. It all can be capped off with Lorenzos and Andrews wedding day, where Lorenzo is slipping off into Spanish and says his part of the vows in Spanish, because he is just so happy…

(It’s been a bit, since I saw the show, but I hope you can see something in that idea.)

New Firsts

(Flufftober Day 25 - First Dance) (Read on AO3)

“Do you remember the first time we danced together?” Andrew whispers quietly. He’s swaying gently back and forth in Lorenzo’s arms with his husband’s head resting against his shoulder. His husband. Andrew considers those words again, wondering if it’s ever going to get old.

“How could I forget?” Lorenzo replies. Andrew can feel the smile spread across Lorenzo’s face from where the side of his mouth brushes against Andrew’s neck. “You’ve gotten a lot better at it since then.”

It feels like a lifetime ago that the two of them met at Magnus and Alec’s wedding, dancing together on a whim after a few moments of obvious flirting. It was fun, but Andrew never really expected it to lead anywhere. He certainly couldn’t have imagined following that whim would land him in a wedding of his own, all eyes on them as they share this first dance as a married couple.

“I had a good teacher,” Andrew replies. Even now he follows Lorenzo’s lead, giving himself over freely to mirroring the movements of the much more graceful man in front of him.

Andrew remembers the missteps along the way. There were fights - some petty, others serious - and a few moments where he wasn’t sure he was strong enough to follow in Alec’s footsteps and marry a warlock. But those moments pale in comparison to the bright memories of love and laughter, of discovering himself through Lorenzo’s eyes and realizing that he’s stronger and more capable than he ever gave himself credit for before.

“What are you thinking of, my love?” Lorenzo asks him.

“How happy I am to be here, with you. To have this for the rest of our lives together,” Andrew answers simply. “Sometimes it doesn’t feel real, you know? That I get to have all of this.”

“I know the feeling,” Lorenzo agrees. “I meant what I said in my vows - I know how lucky I am to have you, Andrew. Don’t think for a second that I take the weight of your love for granted.”

“Always the poet,” Andrew laughs lightly as the song ends. “Save the schmaltzy lines for the toast.”

“Oh, trust me,” Lorenzo says with a smirk, his voice just loud enough to be heard above the applause that follows the last note. “There’s plenty more sweetness where that came from. And a little more saved just for you when we’re alone later,” Lorenzo adds with a wink.

Andrew expects nothing less.

Can you imagine Lorenzo getting hit by something sinister during a demon-hunt, causing him to flash back to a horrible part of his past, and after coming back from that, being totally puzzled that Magnus dragged him to safety after the strife he caused him, but gets a loving explanation from Andrew that he won’t be left behind again, not just by Andrew, but others too, because he knows that this is one of his lovers weakpoints: Lorenzo does NOT desire to be alone again, even though he covers that with his usual attitude.

(Sorry, but this is just how I saw Lorenzo and I refuse to believe that he and Magnus aren’t on better terms, after that series finale…😁😁)

I absolutely love this, and I am dying on the reyhill that Magnus and Lorenzo are on much better terms after canon ends. Not sure if they become actual friends, although in some of my stories they do, just because I want it.

So, in the Shadowhunters finale, there are several moments when Underhill and Lorenzo are in the background together. (After Underhill - the head of Security - so brazenly makes his move).
