Honestly cringe at Danny saying this Marco guy is the one so he forgotten Ben already and Robert the man he married twice and was going to have kids with

A) Danny's statements show that he also finds it highly ridiculous.

B) these producers are not trying to shit on robron they just do not get nor understand. Do I think they honor that legacy more? Hell yes. But theyvaren't doing to be mean or hurt Robron fans or the ship.

C) Marco is a offscreen nothing. He isn't worth time or hate. Or this ridiculous waste of negative energy. Just headcanon him away if you need to. The options are:

A) Aaron is lying to keep Chas off his back about his loveliness and/or so he has a uilt in escape root from that village.

B) Marco is really Robert's ias because Adam and Aaron broke him out of jail.

C) figure out your own one.

so to keep myself sane this is my headcanon; Aaron is with Ben because after Robert and Jackson, he can’t deal with another big heartbreak. he’s with someone he doesn’t love or is passionate about, because it protects him from hurt further down the line. and in any case, whoever he dates until Rob is out is just a placeholder. and even if Rob serves his full sentence, they won’t be old when he gets out. they talk as if he got a 30 year sentence or something, but christ. they could still have a kid when he gets out, a lot of men become dads quite late. also Rob finds someone in prison to keep him company and comfort him until he can be with Aaron again. sorry not sorry. holding on to this is the only way for me to avoid going crazy with the shit that is Ed at the moment.

Ever since Robert got released Aaron always wakes up in the middle of the night just to make sure he's still there beside him. He never tells Robert.

Ever since he's back, Robert doesn't sleep well. He knows about Aaron checking up on him. He never tells him.

Okay, so the first time Robert has an unbroken nights sleep post prison, Aaron wakes up anyway. It's almost become a habit because at some point Robert will kick out. But he doesn't that night, and Aaron watches him. His face is calm, peaceful. When Robert wakes up in the morning, he asks Aaron how the night went and Aaron grins at him. It feels so good to have overcome this hurdle.

I do feel like Aaron, who is so attuned to Robert (even after those years spent apart), still keeps watch over him out of habit that’s been ingrained out of concern and, if he’s honest, a bit of overprotective-ness too - it’s only natural, after a long separation and an experience that Aaron knows firsthand can be extremely difficult mentally and emotionally. So sue him if he’s a bit Mother Hen-ish around Robert for a while.

It’s been a long time and he’s suffering, and Aaron spent so long being taken care of by Robert when he was in a bad place that it only feels right that he now do the same for him. For better or for worse, even if those words technically don’t apply anymore. 

It’s a relatively small thing, but it’s also a big thing, and the start of them re-beginning their life together the way it was always supposed to be. It might not be exactly the same, but that’s no bad thing really. They take things one day at a time. If anything it’s just made them even stronger as a couple, even if nobody else quite understands it. 

(Plus, Robert thinks that Aaron’s smile might have a restorative power all of its own, the way seeing it that morning after his first unbroken night’s sleep in years makes him feel warm and bright from the inside out.)

Robron + texts

texting robert is one of aaron’s favourite things to do. that might sound stupid, considering he lives with robert, lives attached to robert more like, but it’s true. it makes him feel like a teenager again - constantly checking his phone, hoping every buzz and ping is his husband. usually, it is - because robert loves texting aaron just as much.

sometime aaron sits and scrolls through their texts. all the important ones stared. it’s amazing how the pair of them have evolved, from this sordid secret to disgustingly in love husbands. it’s incredible how you can see their journey, their progress, through a series of text messages.

Ooh can you write something post Thursday where Aaron puts Seb down and Robert overheard him telling Seb that he’s worried that daddy Robert is still annoyed with him even though Vic knows the truth about Adam and his girlfriend? And then Robert reassured him? Sorry this is a rambling prompt xx

“Right, let me put you down munchkin,” Aaron murmured, putting Seb down in his cot. “There we are. Now, I know you usually like me to read to you, but I’m really tired, so how about I just talk to you instead? Will that be okay? I know it’s my voice you like rather than the stories, and yes, that makes me feel a little bit special,” he added with a wink to Seb, his blue eyes focusing on Aaron’s face.

“I think your daddy might be a little bit mad at me, though,” Aaron said. “It’s nothing serious, we’re going to get over it, so don’t you worry. You can still rely on us both being here. We’re always going to be here, because we both love you so much. Don’t worry your head about that. But I did a stupid thing, I lied.” Seb blinked at him and Aaron rolled his eyes. “I know, idiot. You don’t do that, always tell us the truth, okay? Don’t learn by my example.” Aaron cleared his throat and Seb frowned when he realised that Aaron had stopped speaking.

“I didn’t mean to lie to him, it just sort of happened,” Aaron said. “I hope he’s forgiven me. I need him to. Because… he makes me happy. So do you, actually,” Aaron said. “Less of the three a.m. wake up calls would be good if you want to do me a favour? Cheers mate.”  Aaron left, seeing Seb’s eyes flicker closed, baby monitor in hand, when he saw Robert at the door, clearly having heard most, if not all of what Aaron had been telling Seb.

“Of course I’ve forgiven you,” Robert said softly. “I just don’t like being lied to. I know it’s normally me, but…”

“I won’t do it again,” Aaron said. “I’m sorry.”

“I know,” Robert said. “I love how much you love him.”

“He makes it easy,” Aaron said. “He’s so…”

“I know,” Robert said with a smile as words failed him. “Come to bed.”

“It’s early,” Aaron said. 

Robert shrugged. “Come to bed anyway.” Aaron didn’t argue.

Just thinking about how Robert uses people made me think of Nicola and how it never mentioned/touched upon, I mean she pretty much preyed on him, took his virginity and then dumped him, and was the first girl he liked? I think that would screw someone up a bit when comes to relationships as well as his daddy issues and his adoptive brother killing his mum figure who he feels his dad favours, I do actually wonder if that why he drawn to likes of Sadie and maybe Rebecca women who play him as much as tries he plays them and in Sadie case another woman who used him for sex, and destroyed his relationship with Katie because he got scared it become too real? I mean loads of people like Robert loved Katie yes but i do not think it a retcon his main attraction to Katie was because she was with Andy. I think you can love someone but also use them at the same time. I think Chrissie again he loved her but cheated on her twice but main attraction to her was status, money etc, with Aaron i feel he just saw him a play thing and never planned to fall for him which i feel is why he treated him with such distain because he first person he fell for with not ulterior reasons.

didn't nicola mention it once in the beginning of Ryan!Robert? and I thought Katie was the first girl he ever liked? It's what you keep telling me.

but as i've said many times before - i only started watching robron from ssw16 and the whole show not until around the first wedding. I don't know anything about things that happened before that. Especially not teen!Robert.

and honestly - i'm not the person you want to talk to for deep meaningful character studies. I'm just here to have fun.

Robron to me only exist in fics and tumblr shitposts and random headcanons - and other fanworks. Emmerdale has nothing to do with them anymore. It's just a show i bitch about for half an hour a day - and an hour on thursday.

How am I dealing with Aaron and the doc sleeping together you don’t ask? I'm totally headcanoning that while Alex and Aaron slept together, they didn't go all the way. Aaron did take off his clothes in front of a new guy and could feel quite pleased with himself for having overcome that mental barrier. Then Alex went down on him. And it was fine. But Aaron still had to close his eyes and do his best not to remember that time Robert and he looked into each other's souls when Robert first blew him. When the doc was done, Aaron wanted to return the favor, but Alex could tell that Aaron was emotionally drained from their talk earlier and the blow job, so caring, considerate, compassionate Alex said it was alright, he didn't have to. And Aaron remembered Robert burning so bad for him that Rob couldn't help himself and always wanted more of Aaron. Even when he'd done the right thing and turned Aaron down, somehow Robert still managed to make it clear to Aaron, how badly he was wanted and desired. Despite the doc’s consideration, Aaron can't not reciprocate, it's the right thing to do, and Alex relents and lets Aaron give him a hand job. It takes longer than Aaron thought it would and instead of feeling togetherness, he weirdly feels more alone. It's a bit like when the two of them kiss. Yeah, the truth is that Aaron's still not that into kissing Alex. Because Robert. Kissing Robert was like coming home, to a part of himself that existed outside of him. Kissing Alex is nice but it's like standing at someone else's door, knocking on it, being brought in, shown around, nodding politely at how nice everything looks and still being self conscious the entire time that it's not your home. Aaron was determined to have sex with Alex, though. And the next morning, he wakes up realizing that he did, so he's happy. They still don't slip into a domestic routine after that. Alex has long shifts at the hospital on one night, on another he has to sleep to recuperate, and by the time they can potentially spend a second night together, Aaron's mind's too preoccupied with what's going on with Adam, so he's not in the mood. Alex listens and is understanding. Aaron's grateful. If he's also grateful because he's not that interested in picking up where they left off, well, he pushes that thought out of his mind and continues to worry about Adam.

Robert's favorite thing to do is to sneak behind Aaron as he's making his toast in the morning, hug him from behind with his hands on Aaron's hips while he's resting his head on Aaron's shoulder. Sometimes he could even make him sway a bit.

Robert never slept well with a partner. Something about being vulnerable and very aware there was someone else in his bed. But when him and Aaron gave it a proper go, he found he slept easier. Aaron was a comforting presence who subconsciously soothed Robert. The kicking out in his sleep stopped and more often than not he woke up tangled in Aaron's limbs.

GOD yes. I feel like the kicking in his sleep thing is unconsciously a stress/anxiety thing (and because we also know he talks in his sleep when he’s stressed or worried) because of that fear of being vulnerable and open with someone else in a way that sleeping next to someone can be. 

At first, he avoided getting too close to Aaron in bed because he knows he’ll end up kicking him black and blue during the night, but slowly and surely he started gravitating towards his warmth and his physical proximity more and more, was less restless, until more often than not they woke up curled around each other like a pair of koalas. Sometimes Aaron was plastered to his back like an extra blanket and other times he had him in his own arms, Aaron’s sleep-soft breath on his collarbone and his beard tickling his throat.

When he gets out of prison, the kicking starts up again, and worse than before. He has nightmares, anxiety attacks, episodes where he wakes up in a panic not knowing where he is and why there’s an extra person in his bed. The disorientation and confusion is terrifying, and at first he refuses to let Aaron go anywhere near him for fear he might hurt him. He has to re-learn how to sleep next to someone without that tightness in his chest that tells him not to let his guard down, has to reassure himself daily that he’s safe and free from harm in his own house because prison bars still flash behind his eyes every time he tries to get any rest. With Aaron’s help, and counselling, sleep - something so ordinary and mundane - becomes a little bit easier again, and it’s the first step in a long road to getting back to being who he once was.

Robron + awkward?

it should be awkward when a woman hands aaron a phone number and asks if he’ll pass it over to his friend for her - but instead aaron finds the whole thing hilarious. robert, not so much.

they’re at a bar in town, liv giving them a rare night off by offering to babysit. they’re both well on their way to being drunk when aaron goes up to the bar to order a couple more colourful drinks. before he can get round to it though this women is tapping him on the shoulder and wafting a piece of paper, with an unmistakable 11 numbers on it, in his face. his first instinct is to brush her off with a ‘oh that’s nice of you but i’m -’ only he doesn’t get the chance to finish before she’s cutting him off - ‘oh no it’s not for you, it’s for your mate, the fit blond one. will you pass it on for me?’ and it takes everything aaron has to keep a straight face.

aaron places the piece paper in front of robert with a grin on his face as robert gives him a questioning look. ‘you’ve pulled mate,’ aaron explains as he gestures over to the girl still propping up the bar, watching them with intent - ‘she thinks you’re dead fit.’ once upon a time this kind of thing would’ve thrown aaron in to a fit of jealously but now - now it’s nothing but funny. ‘what and you didn’t think to tell her i’m married?’ robert exasperates at him then, but aaron takes great pleasure in telling him he thought he’d let robert do that part, as he catches the girl making her way over to their table. 

let the awkwardness commence, aaron thinks to himself as he sits back and enjoys the show.
