One of Steve’s favorite things is watching Eddie tuck in their daughter from the doorway, always having a bedtime story, or a song, or an adventure they’ll go on when they’re both asleep. His all time favorite thing is when Eddie sings a song, and little Robyn sings along, which is exactly what’s happening now. Eddie’s sitting on the side of her bed, her little hand wrapped firmly around his thumb, and he’s singing softly, while her very sleepy voice is singing the other lines. “You know what to do, little one. repeat after me,” He says, and Robyn nods seriously. 

“Now I lay me down to sleep,” He starts, 

“Now I lay me down to sleep,” She echoes it exactly, with her cute little voice. 

“Pray the lord my soul to keep,” 

“Pway the lowd my soul to keep,” 

“If I die before I wake,”

“If I die befowe I wake,” Steve’s not so happy about that line, but he'll let it slide because she’s so cute.

“Pray the lord my soul to take,”

“Pway the lowd my soul to take.” She repeats sleepily, and her eyes fall closed, the grip on Eddie’s thumb loosening, and Eddie stands up slowly, still singing. “Hush little baby, don't say a word, and never mind that noise you heard. It's just the beast under your bed.” Steve shakes his head at Eddie, who grins, and continues singing, walking towards his husband. “In your closet, in your head..” He adds, and places a soft kiss on Steve’s lips. “That kid is gonna become a satanist,” Steve jokes, and returns the kiss, slowly closing her bedroom door, careful not to slam it. “She better,” Eddie smiles, and takes his husband’s hand, pressing a kiss there as well, and pulling him towards their bedroom.

“I don’t know ‘bout you, but I’m exhausted..” He complains, falling on the bed after a long day of making sure the kid doesn’t kill herself. “Yeah, me too. Wouldn’t change it for the world, though.” Steve adds, setting his glasses on the bedside table, and rolling in bed next to Eddie, cuddling up on his chest. “Never,” He whispers. “Never.”
