Hope it’s ok to send random asks but I’m wondering does Aurora enjoy her birthdays? What are her favourite/least favourite parts about them

I'm always happy to get asks about Aurora! I'm just not very good about responding to them -pointedly looks away from the ask about her relationship with Lucien that's been sitting in my inbox for months-

Your question is also timely because Aurora's birthday is in about a month!

As a human, Aurora hated her birthday because her mother died giving birth to her, and she therefore blamed herself (I'm sure that the Count did as well). Aurora then spent her next hundred birthdays believing herself to be Rebekah. I think "hating" her birthday is something that helped Aurora distinguish "Aurora" from "Rebekah." I also think at that point it was difficult for her to know exactly when her birthday was, and to this day, Aurora does not know exactly when her birthday is except in very specific modern human verses where Aurora would absolutely be a basic birthday month type of princess. Honestly, it's a running joke on my blog at this point that if someone asks Aurora how old she is/when her birthday is, she just directs them to Tristan who does, in fact, know exactly when Aurora's birthday is. In verses with Lex, Tristan spoils Aurora excessively so she that is usually her favorite part of her birthday.

Deborah Jane Leng Burgess is a model and actress, and Roger met her on the set of his side band The Cross' video-clip "Cowboys and Indians" (1987). She next appeared as the masked lady in Queen’s “Breakthru”. Debbie started her modeling under the artistic name of Debbie Du-Bell in 1982, and represented the UK in the 1986 edition of Supermodel of the World. She created a sensation in 1987 when she became the iconic Cadbury's Flake girl in a TV commercial and got axed three years later for being "too sexy".

Roger and Debbie’s relationship was immediately object of interest for tabloids, especially since he married his previous girlfriend Dominique in 1988 to secure their two children and the media didn't understand their relationship was actually over, and Roger he soon moved in a new mansion with Debbie. Another object of scandal was the alleged diffusion of a sex tape between the two, and the media never failed to point out their age difference of 14 years. The drummer of a world famous band and a beautiful supermodel couldn’t stay out of the spotlight, after all...

However, besides often appearing together at events, concerts and parties, looking dashing and rich, what happened privately in their lives seems to remain very private. (short to say I’m not really finding much out there besides gossip articles mentioned above). Of course, Debbie is a beautiful woman and always looks friendly and smiling around her family, often having fun with Roger, but there's not much additional information about her personality.

They had Rufus, Tigerlily and Lola together and it appears that Debbie has stayed a lot by Roger’s side after Freddie’s death. “Freddie Mercury was still alive when Rufus came along in 1991 and those two got on famously. Mind you, Fred was always fabulous with kids — he was the one who came up with Rufus’s middle name: Tiger.”  They split in around 2004, but they still have a close relationship nowadays and Debbie introduced Tigerlily and Lola to the modeling world, following her steps, while Rufus is drummer of The Darkness, much like Roger.

“Although Rufus’s mum [Deborah Leng] and I were together for about 15 years, we never did get married. I also had Felix and Rory Eleanor from a previous relationship [with Dominique Beyrand], but in that situation, we did eventually tie the knot. I guess I wanted to make sure Felix and Rory were looked after financially. “I’ll admit my life back then was, well… let’s say it was complicated. It was a strange time for all of us. Wouldn’t it be great if relationships were simple and easy? Sadly, breaking up with people who mean a lot to you is never simple or easy. The important thing for me has always been that the kids support each other and feel like brothers and sisters. There’s not some from “this relationship” and some from “that relationship”; they are a gang of five.” (Roger in 2014)

“Mum and Dad never actually got married, but their separation was still pretty rough. There was a bit of shouting for a while and a few headlines, but, y’know what: shit happens. People split up. Both of them have gone off and done their own thing, and they’ve got a much better relationship these days.” (Rufus in 2014)

URL meaning: death-by-mercury, it’s my original url and I don’t plan on changing it. It originally was referring to Freddie Mercury (hence mercury), and really I just think it sounds cool. But it’s kind of funny if you think of it literally… death by (Freddie) Mercury… it’s supposed to sound kind of like “death by chocolate” or something I donno.

Blog Title meaning: “Damn the Torpedoes, Full Speed Ahead” I am referring to the 1943 movie, “The More, The Merrier” in which Mr Dingle repeats the line throughout the movie, although the quote is originally by Admiral David Glasgow Farragut… so there’s that, it’s a good movie, I recommend it :))

TMRW Sports, which is focused on building progressive approaches to sports, media, and entertainment, has announced its initial investor group, an influential roster of icons across sports and entertainment matched with business titans in technology, sports, media, and finance.

The institutional investment was co-led by Connect Ventures and 25madison Ventures. The investment group’s sports experience includes team ownership in every major league and ranges across F1, NFL, NBA, Premier League, MLB, NHL, MLS, tennis, esports, surfing, and golf with a combined social reach of nearly 500 million followers across Twitter and Instagram. Queen live at Ludwigsparkstadion in Saarbrücken, Germany - August 18, 1979 (Part-1)

The band's first live album was released on June 26, consisting of songs recorded on the previous European tour (and some overdubs done in the studio during the break after the Japanese dates). Many of the songs were released as A and B sides of singles. Love Of My Life was the most successful of them, becoming a #1 hit in Argentina and Brazil. See this link for more details. Queen headlined this 1979 festival in Germany, with Red Baron, Voyager, Lake, Molly Hatchet, The Commodores, Ten Years Later (Alvin Lee's late-70s trio), Rory Gallagher also on the day's bill. The Commodores weren't able to finish their set, as they were booed off the stage, along with having to dodge bottles being thrown at them for being a funk and r&b band playing at a rock festival. Plenty of these rock fans came to see Rory Gallagher and Alvin Lee, and weren't Queen fans - but many were won over by Queen's live set, as they came to see how they were a rock-driven band on stage compared to the pop-oriented sound of the singles most people knew. Before the show, Roger attempted to dye his hair blonde but it ended up green instead (as seen in the pre-show pics, one of which is with Rory Gallagher - around this moment Queen asked Rory to join them for a rock 'n' roll medley but he declined). Roger later said the hair debaucle was one of the most embarrassing experiences of his life. He had some monitor issues throughout the show, so by the end his frustration had accumulated and he trashed his drum kit. Queen archivist Greg Brooks alleges in his book that Freddie made fun of Roger's hair throughout the show, but no such thing is heard on the audience recording. Being a festival gig, Queen have cut down the length of their set. Interestingly enough, they have dropped their three hit songs from the recent Jazz album, yet they perform three others consecutively near the top of the show, one of which is Mustapha, which is performed for the first time. The Parsi/Arabic number is slotted at the beginning of the medley (Brian May notably hasn't quite worked out his guitar parts). This version is only a minute and a half long; they would add another chorus by the next tour, and the arrangement would stick through 1981. Every night the song begins with John Deacon giving Mercury a tuning note for the a cappella intro, doing a 12th fret harmonic on the G string and quickly swirling the volume up and down. Freddie's voice is well-rested after the Jazz tour and recording sessions for 4 songs that would end up on their next album, The Game. He sounds fantastic at this show, even daring in some places, knowing full well it's a single show and that he doesn't need to preserve his voice. That, and he most likely learned plenty about his voice throughout the long and tiring tour that ended in May. He introduces If You Can't Beat Them as "a song that we haven't got on the album Live Killers." There wasn't too much audience reaction to You're My Best Friend (the song didn't chart in Germany, so the average radio-listening audience member didn't know it), prompting Freddie to say before Now I'm Here, "Alright, we'll do a rock one now. Enough of this serious stuff. We're gonna do something that requires a bit of singing!" During the Now I'm Here jam, Brian plays the iconic riff from The Kinks' "You Really Got Me" a few times. Freddie forgets a few words in the second verse of Spread Your Wings. The drum solo in Keep Yourself Alive leads directly into Brian's guitar solo. Roger's tympani solo is inserted about a minute into it. The band encore with Jailhouse Rock as they did at their last show in Japan. Later in the year it will become the opening song of their set. For some reason the tape of God Save The Queen starts playing about a minute after they finish We Are The Champions. Also, this is probably the only time when Freddie doesn't say anything to the audience at the end of a show. This is the final show the band would perform under the giant "pizza oven" lighting rig. It would be revamped for the upcoming Crazy Tour. About a minute of this show was shown on German TV not long after the show.
