Watching omniverse and the reboot made me wanna do my own version of the little guys, it was originally an AU but I got lazy with it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The onmitrix here it's actually a prototype, Vilgax attacked before it could be finish, which explains the glitches it sometimes has and why the need to recharge

I'm not a fan of Gwen's pink magic, like yeah she's an anodite and they're pink or whatever, but blue is Gwen's characteristic color and she looks so girlboss with it!
Aso Kevin is not an alien but a mutant, in Ben's world some humans are born with powers because reasons, kinda like the xmens, this would explain characters like the circus freaks or Cooper
So yeah

Wisdom Rossart, Hand of the King
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Queer that they never asked who killed Rossart...but of course, he was no one, lowborn, Hand for a fortnight, just another mad fancy of the Mad King. "
- a startling degree of class consciousness from Jaime there, good on you J-dog!
These minis are designed as a unit of generic pyromancers for the game, but I like to paint individual characters wherever possible. This guy leapt out at me as Rossart, because I feel like whatever weird burning people alive fetish he had would definitely also manifest as having a tonsure.
More of the green wildfire lighting here, and again I'm incredibly pleased with how it came out. My one regret is not realising until just now Rossart had a pretty cool sigil - the backs of these minis are a bit featureless, and that would be a cool canvas for some freehand.

The Hands of Aerys II! This has been a fun drawing to make! I’ve only drawn Tywin and Jon before, so it was fun to draw the other three for the first time. I didn't spend too much time on the piece, which means just starting the portrait and seeing where it went! Also I mostly drew this to try and remember all of Aerys’ Hands, lol! I never quite remember Owen and Qarlton’s names, but now I hopefully will! ;P

I really love your latest Jaime posts honestly they make Tumblr a more freeing place. The time of making apologies and disclaimers is over 2024 will be the year of backing our problematic faves into hell knowing its been 10 years and we're all aware of that shit we're just here to have fun
i do think he becomes #terrible post aerys but im just gonna repeat myself here and say that i love how the build up and backstory is written and how the moral and ethical dilemmas are actually interrogated and how this feudal society is not at all ready for the precedent set by an elite guard actually killing his own king to prioritize the king’s subjects (in any form). like vows, the honor system, and the kg as an institution and its codes of conduct exist to reinforce class stratification and when put under scrutiny it falls apart as a result and is not a sensible moral construct at all and westeros is not ready to confront this obv. idek if im defending this man as much as i am defending the writing since i am not justifying his conclusion/reaction, i just think it is well contextualized. also when it comes to jaime initially and his own values vs code of ethics or conduct and laws is that giving your word and honesty and conviction is a core component of love, knighthood, and honor, all things that he values at the beginning as an idealistic person, especially in the abstract sense. and the thing is that these promises will come into conflict by virtue of what they are. and they do early on since he swears to always love cersei too, and that is a value and relationship that he is gonna be committed to as a result. he is less focused on rules and codes of conduct when it comes to vows and more on personal values that end up being confronted with contradictions and/or systemic flaws that he is not brave enough to properly confront, stand up in the face of, and triumph over, so he gives into a form of cynical and selfish amorality. until he finally doesnt

Quote
Birds flew and couriers raced to bear word of the victory at the Ruby Ford. When the news reached the Red Keep, it was said that Aerys cursed the Dornish, certain that Lewyn had betrayed Rhaegar. He sent his pregnant queen, Rhaella, and his younger son and new heir, Viserys, away to Dragonstone, but Princess Elia was forced to remain in King’s Landing with Rhaegar’s children as a hostage against Dorne. Having burned his previous Hand, Lord Chelsted, alive for bad counsel during the war, Aerys now appointed another to the position: the alchemist Rossart—a man of low birth, with little to recommend him but his flames and trickery.

Have we talked about these?
Those purple eyes grew huge then, and the royal mouth drooped open in shock. He lost control of his bowels, turned, and ran for the Iron Throne. Beneath the empty eyes of the skulls on the walls, Jaime hauled the last dragonking bodily off the steps, squealing like a pig and smelling like a privy. A single slash across his throat was all it took to end it. So easy, he remembered thinking. A king should die harder than this. Rossart at least had tried to make a fight of it, though if truth be told he fought like an alchemist. Queer that they never ask who killed Rossart . . . but of course, he was no one, lowborn, Hand for a fortnight, just another mad fancy of the Mad King.  (ASOS, Jaime II)
Lickspittle. If truth be told, Jaime had come to rue heaving Brandon Stark out that window. Cersei had given him no end of grief afterward, when the boy refused to die. "He was seven, Jaime," she'd berated him. "Even if he understood what he saw, we should have been able to frighten him into silence." (ASOS, Jaime I)
and
"A man who would violate his own sister, murder his king, and fling an innocent child to his death deserves no other name." (ASOS, I)
and
"Does the sight of my stump distress you so?" Jaime asked. "You ought to be pleased. I've lost the hand I killed the king with. The hand that flung the Stark boy from that tower. The hand I'd slide between my sister's thighs to make her wet." He thrust his stump at her face. "No wonder Renly died, with you guarding him." (ASOS, Jaime V)
I was just rereading some Jaime chapters, and I thought we were joking about “Kingslayer” being a hint for King Bran, but that’s actually what Martin was doing?

Do you think Jaime would have defended Elia and her children against the Mountain? Or his presence would have not made a difference?
I think the question is somewhat missing the point:
Prince Rhaegar burned with a cold light, now white, now red, now dark. “I left my wife and children in your hands.”
“I never thought he’d hurt them.” Jaime’s sword was burning less brightly now. “I was with the king … [sic]”
Jaime believed in that moment (or convinced himself that he believed - the answer is up to you) that Tywin would not hurt Elia or her children. Jaime likewise knew, as the sack of King's Landing was happening, that Aerys II had refused his, Jaime's, offer to negotiate a surrender and was also meeting with Rossart to conduct the wildfire plan. With no reason to suppose (again, in his own mind, at least) that Elia and the young Targaryens were in any danger, and with the knowledge that it was a question of minutes at most to stop the wildfire plot he alone (apart from the king and his pyromancer co-conspirators) was fully aware of, Jaime had no reason to go and defend Elia and/or her children (especially from an attack he did not know was imminent/already begun - Jaime's memory suggests the scaling of Maegor's Holdfast was happening simultaneously to Jaime killing Rossart and Aerys).
But Tywin did hurt them, of course, and much worse - sending some of his most brutal lieutenants to murder Elia, Rhaenys, and Aegon (and in particularly grisly, violent ways). The fact that Jaime feels a strong sense of guilt over their end is demonstrated by Rhaegar's appearance with this very line in Jaime's dream, as well as the dream-Jaime's reaction to it. The dimming light of Jaime's sword reflects his own guilty memory of the event, shadowed by the knowledge of what had happened: Jaime might answer the ghostly Rhaegar's accusation by citing the more important work of stopping Aerys' last mad act, but he knows that by choosing to be there (i.e. in the throne room to kill Aerys), he denied himself the ability to be elsewhere - that is, with Elia and the children, being killed at virtually the same moment by Tywin's own men.
It's not about whether Jaime would have defended Elia and her children against the Mountain, because that's a scenario that could not have happened. Jaime could not have done differently from what he did and still be Jaime (or this still be the same story) - but that doesn't mean Jaime doesn't know what the alternative was now, and does not mean he does not feel the pain of that choice still.
