Modern Rdr2 hcs:

-Abigail dresses like it's the 2000s (I'm talking miniskirts, low rise jeans, heeled flip flops w the fucking sparkles). She will never change too.

-Charles and Arthur go on dates to those adoption events to pet all the dogs and cats

-the whole gang frequently gathers for family bbqs. Every time someone ends up getting punched, passing out, or storming off

-Abigail puts Jack on one of those backpack leashes for kids (John too if we're being honest)

-Tilly, Karen, and Marybeth do full goodwill, garage sale, and vintage market days. They do not mess around either

-the only thing hosea knows how to do on his phone is play chess

-Sean still can't read in modern time

-john plays guitar and writes really horrible love songs for Abigail

-Javier and john r for sure in a band together, they're pretty good when they sing the songs Javier wrote

-Arthur listens to facebook reels on full volume in public w no shame. Isaac is mortified every time

-john has various tattoos, half of them are god awful. He definitely got Abigail's name or initials tattooed somewhere and she was livid

-Karen gives herself piercings with a really shitty piercing gun

-arthur and John work together in construction, an auto shop, or in the equestrian field.

-Dutch has a very rigid and lengthy skincare routine

-john uses 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner, but he says it's 3 in 1 bc it also counts as bodywash

-Tilly is the only one of her family to graduate college (Arthur dropped out of hs when Eliza got pregnant and john never went)

-Hosea is one of those old people you just see walking around the neighborhood at like 8am

-john and Arthur don't wear sunscreen or put on lotion. Abigail sometimes manages to force some sunscreen on John's face before he goes to work tho

-bill refuses to go to gay bars but uses Grindr

-Abigail cuts John and Jack's hair bc she refuses to pay for something she thinks she can do herself (she cannot do it herself)

-Kieran is a hair braiding god. I'm talking French braids, fish tails, you name it.

-the only videogame charles plays is stardew valley. He thought it would be relaxing, it wasn't.

okay im gonna start with his family cause i wrote some headcanons for them yesterday. he has two sisters who are younger than him. he was really good at taking care of them when he was little because he had to take of a worse child (max) all the time. they tease their big bro about max btw. max joins in. worst fucking husband of the year. they're like 10 years younger than him. their names are sara and sadie. listen the s names are good.

his mom loves him so much. like sam's her little angel. she spoils him rotten when he comes home and max laughs about it and sam tells him to jump off a cliff.

his dad is just like him (autistic). he's a lawyer (user pikaflute always tries to squeeze in lawyers in every media like their life depends on it FUKKKK … why sam’s dad a lawyer all of da sudden) and he's the reason why sam wanted to be a detective. they watched noir films together when sam was young

back to general headcanons now: sam is a gamer. yeah, old pc point and clicks and puzzle games. and arcade games. he's probably secretly really good at newer games but he's rather just relax and take his time and solve shit.

not a morning person. at all. he will not leave the bed until like 10 am and will guzzle a pot of coffee. he just wants to stay in bed. i say let him!

likes to window shop. he will walk around new york with max and when he sees something he likes he will look into the store and will stay there until max has to pull him away.

he can bake. him mom and grandma taught him :). he has max taste his stuff and it just ends up with max eating like 10 cupcakes in like 10 minutes

has like all these figurines of things he knows nothing about. the geek asks him where he got that limited edition collectible miku and sam's like "oh she's just a cute one isn't she?" "sam they made like 100 of these how did you get her" "i found her!"

i'm giving him my greatest struggle: ibs. boys who go through tummy aches are our strongest warriors!

i know most family headcanons for max give him siblings but. i want to be funny. he's an only child. like he is that kind of asshole (source i'm an only child)

he has two moms. yeah deal with it. lesbianism WIN.

as a kid the only person his moms would let him go play with was sam because max would actually be calm around sam and they wouldn't have to be on high alert for their kid biting someone's head off

he will make accounts to go on forums to argue with people about shit he knows nothing about and is 100% wrong on but will win the argument anyway. he truly has the heart of a poster. he's also banned from most forums and like twitter and facebook

i think he has a bunch of different things he picked up as a hobby. knitting, wood carving, poker (obviously), video games, drawing, pottery, solving puzzles (he sucks at those and asks sam for help), and many more. he can't keep his mind focused, he's gotta do it all!

speaking of video games, he plays violent ones. he likes the blood and gore. it's funny to him. he also plays fighting games online and is extremely toxic to everyone around him. he just like me fr.

he loves spicy food. like he will guzzle spice packets into his open mouth all the time. then he'll get a stomach ache from eating like 15 spicy packets from taco bell

hates hot weather. it makes his fur all puffy and static. he also hates the heat in general, make him irritable (more than usual)

i think he stims a lot. he moves around a lot doing stuff in the games but i think one day sam gets him a fidget toy and max is like oh my god. oh my god sam i could make love to you. and sams like. play with the toy instead jackass. and max does like all the time everyday forever.

Abigail Roberts A-Z Alphabet Fluff Prompt

The rest of the alphabet here. Q: Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every detail in passing, or do they kind of forget? )Abigail remembers everything, including things you wouldn’t want her to remember. She is meticulous in remembering things like dates and coordinates , directions to travel somewhere or orders to take on a heist. Drink orders at the dive bar she works at in a Modern Au , details about patrons like who will grab asses, who tips well, who tips like shit.

When a sex worker, she’d remember who to avoid servicing if she could, when she needed to avoid someone, if someone had a particular fetish, etc. She’ll remember everything down to the littlest detail because it’s her perfectionism. She does not have a photographic memory, but this is something she strives for. She lived in a time where someone had to be quiet and bide their time just in case their safety called on it. (Ex: knowing dirt on someone, knowing when to be quiet, knowing where to be, how to avoid something)

Modern au: But on a lighter sense, she won’t forget a birthday, or a dance recital, a baseball game, Jack’s projects or tests, and if you have university or a job, she’d help you as well. If It’s Sadie, this includes her contracts and her borderline outlaw activities. Unfortunately Abigail hates remembering those because it reminds her of the danger Sadie could be in. She wishes Sadie could just put the guns away and help out on the ranch, but she knows it’s not that easy.

Now, she does need to look at agendas and sheets every once in a while to refresh her mind, especially if things get chaotic, but she has a huge memory bank.

R: Remember (What is their favourite moment in your relationship?)She would love for John or a reader to take her out of home, out of town, and they drive somewhere to get a nice view. I was thinking, as sappy as it might sound - a sunrise because Abigail is usually up for those, but if the reader or John aren't usually morning people, that's a bonus as it would show they're sacrificing her sleep for Abigail. (Of course, Abigail isn't always happy to be woken up at that time and it's dark, but she's perfectly fine - if not tired - afterward. Something like getting coffee and breakfast afterward would make it even better. But she'd also enjoy a sunset in a flower meadow and a meal, whether it's a picnic or somewhere cute to eat where she can enjoy her meal and people watch. She loves quiet moments best, but someone taking her out on the town like John did in the epilogue would also be special to her. 

S: Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

One of my favorite scenes in the entire game is when Dutch is talking about leaving John behind, and she tries to march towards him----John just barely holds her back. I think that says it right there. She is NOT afraid to speak up. She's strategic in how and when she does so, but she will call someone out if they dare harm someone she loves. She also knows how to punch, use a knife, and shoot a gun.

As for her, she just wants someone to back her up when she's figuratively being beaten down by the others. She'll claim she doesn't need the help, but it means the world to her for anyone who tries.

March 2005        Novella had waited for what felt like a lifetime to know what happened after the baseball game had occurred. Though Emmett had come around the bakery promising to keep an eye out for her and her family he wouldn't answer her questions and neither would Alice, who told her to ask Bella. Novella glared at Emmett in the bakery as he asked her about the baked goods.        "Can you at least tell me if she's okay? That she's not dying? Charlie isn't even home yet" The short girl huffed as he asked another question about the cinnamon rolls.        "She's in the hospital but she'll survive," Emmett replied, and sensing her about to ask another question he put his hands up. "That's all I can tell you okay?" Novella glared at him again but avoided asking another question. She would just have to ask Bella when she was back. And if she didn't come back she would just have to be the most annoying version of herself and get her friend to talk to her. Novella knew that Bella hadn't felt the most at home but she wasn't sure if that had changed now. Novella softened and chewed her lip as she answered every question Emmett had about the sweets. After all, the thought of tasting cardboard for all time seemed horrible.       About a week later though charlie was home and so was Bella. Novella made fresh baked goods that she knew both the swans enjoyed, carefully baking them to perfection as if the sweets could get some answers out of Bella. It wasn't even that she just wanted to know what had happened, though that curiosity was there, she also just wanted to make sure that her friend was okay. That she was okay after everything. "Sai I finished the box, can you still give me a ride?" She asked her best friend not trusting the bike with the baked goods she had specifically spent all day on. "Yes Nov, this shift is almost done." She heard her friend say from the front of the bakery, the tone of her voice telling Novella the bakery was empty.        Fifteen minutes later they were outside of the swan residence she told Sadie that she could walk home and she would call if she was late before she made her way up to the door. It was charlie who greeted her at the door. "Hi Charlie I brought you and Bella's favorites," Novella peered around him into the house. "She's home right?"        "Yeah kid, she's up in her room recovering, could you bring her favorite baked good up to her? I don't want to interrupt your girl time." Charlie said and the care he had for his daughter tugged at Novella's heartstrings.        "Of course, thanks" She replied easily grabbing a small plate and putting the cream cheese danish on it before she made her way upstairs. It was a little too staged the way that Bella was sitting as though she was trying to seem casual.        "He ruined my dramatic entrance didn't he?" Novella joked also pointing out that she in fact did know that Edward had been there. Bella looked as though she was going to deny it before she let out a sheepish grin. "I knew it!" Novella exclaimed as quietly as she could to not make Charlie worry.        "Oh, and I have a cream cheese danish for you."She said almost as an afterthought.        "Oh."She heard the taller brunette say as she took the plate.       "So come on tell me what happened? Also don't just say you fell down the stairs, I was at the game in case you forgot." She added the second part almost as if it was an afterthought.        As Bella told her what happened she listened intently wanting to know everything but her brain kept going back to one of the first details she shared, that she had to trade clothes with Rosalie. It wasn't something that she should be jealous of, Bella was literally running for her life, but her brain kept going back to the fact. Part of her wished she got to trade clothes with Rose. Though the idea of going on the run was terrifying it wasn't that she was jealous of. She was jealous of the closeness she had gotten to be to Rose by wearing her clothes. Still she knew the thought was stupid so she kept pushing the thoughts away as she listened to her friend's story and added her own quips.

June 2006       If someone had asked her what she thought her life would be like now she would not in a million years have been able to have guessed this. She sat in the cabin she had been staying at lately that the Cullens promised would keep her and everyone safe on her request feeling she wasn't ready to be in the Cullens house full time. It had been a lot to process since April, the month she had been turned by victoria as some sick act of revenge against the Cullens and Bella. After turning she not only had memories of now but also of before of Rose. It had been hell to process those alone while also taking on the other newborn's guilt. It looked like it would be a little better now, though the Volturi wanted Bella turned yesterday. But she couldn't control any of that. "Hey Rose" She said feeling the presence of her nearby.       "Do you remember the talk we had the other night?" Rose asked. Novella felt mortified remembering telling Rose about how she had been jealous of Bella when she had been on the run. The worst part is she couldn't even blame something like sleep deprivation or something on it because she was a vampire now and sleep was impossible. "Don't worry Neph," Rose replied using the nickname of her past life as if it was as easy as breathing air. "it's not as embarrassing you think. I actually think it's really cute." She heard rose say steadying her embarrasment all at once.        "I remember." Novella said shifting to look at Rose as she sat on the couch with her. Rosalie was holding a box Novella raised her eyes at her in question.        "Well, I wanted to bring you this, open it." Rose said handing the box to her. Novella took the box carefully looking at it. It was clearly a new box for this specific occasion. It was a black box wrapped in a magenta ribbon carefully. It was clearly picked out with Novella in mind. She gently tugged at the ribbon not wanting her new strength to hurt the delicate thing. She opened the box exposing more magenta this time it was tissue paper. She was a lot less careful with this than she was the ribbon pushing it back to see black leather. Novella couldn't help the small sound of amazement that came out of her mouth. "It's from the eighties, I bought it because it seemed like something that you would wear and I really missed you. When you talked about being jealous of Bella it made me remember it. I've worn it to school for a week so it should smell like me." She heard Rose say. Novella carefully pushed the box to her spot on the couch as she grabbed the jacket and settled it on her shoulders. Looking at rose's smile made her melt completely. "You look beautiful with it on" She heard the blonde say to her.        "Rose have I told you lately that I love you?" Novella asked her settling on Rose's lap instead of the rest of the couch. To some, it would have been fast but it really wasn't. Novella, having been named Nephele at the time, had spent the rest of her life in love and mourning her. The whole time the Cullens had been in forks she felt drawn to her. These feelings were always there. Novella wrapped her arms around Rosalie's neck and kissed her. Feeling Rose's arms wrap around her waist. It just felt right.

red-winged blackbird

Charlie sits in the backseat on a road trip to Florida at the age of eleven. The Doyle family is going to Disney World, which is a very big deal, seeing as it’s so expensive. At school, the only other kid in Charlie’s class who’s been out there is Katie Sheehan, and her family’s more loaded than a baked potato on Super Bowl Sunday. Charlie’s excited to go there. He’s pretty sure, anyway. But more than Disney World, he’s excited for the drive there.

The prospect of driving a car has terrified Charlie for a few years now, ever since his father brought up how convenient it will be once the kids have licenses of their own. Sam and Sadie are excited to get theirs, but Charlie dreads it like he dreads shots at the doctor’s office, mandatory vision and auditory tests at school once a year, and math tests. He does, however, love long car rides, so long as he is the passenger. And this trip to Disney World is his longest car ride yet.

There’s just something so peaceful about sitting in the backseat, listening to music on the radio, thinking about anything that pops into your mind. There’s nothing to do in a car but talk, think, and sing, and Charlie’s pretty good at those latter two things. He loves to look at the world around him, too. He loves to think about his place in it and what it would be like if he was from somewhere else. Whenever the car crosses over into a new state, Charlie pretends like it’s his home. They’ve just crossed over into Kentucky, and Charlie’s pretending like he knows everything about the Derby and baseball bats.

He looks up at the sky and notices a bird in the air. It’s a very pretty bird – one he’s not sure he’s ever seen before. A red-winged blackbird. It feels impossible, but Charlie swears the bird looks right at him, almost like they’re kindred spirits. It feels impossible, but for just one moment, Charlie feels like maybe he and that bird are the same. He feels like maybe he’s just as strange, just as beautiful, just as rare. The bird flies off, and Charlie feels an odd sense of comfort wash over him. That bird was just for him.

When school starts back up again, Charlie’s in the sixth grade. His science teacher asks them to do a report on an animal of their choice. Any animal at all. Charlie thinks about the red-winged blackbird, the one that was just for him, the ultra-rare bird up in the sky. He goes to the library for any information he can find, expecting nothing. Rare birds are hard to understand.

But then, he finds a lot. Much more than he could have imagined. And the first thing he learns is that in North America, the red-winged blackbird is one of the most abundant birds.

Abundant.

Common.

The next day, Charlie switches his report to lions. He’s always identified more with his star sign, anyway.

I love your stories! In fact I was rereading Rule One when I had a thought, how would it be different if Sadie had been in Forks around the time they met Bella? Would Alice try to get Bella on her side earlier than canon so that was Bella could talk her and Jasper up to Sadie? Would Sadie feel more comfortable because she's not the only human mate? Would Jasper be more likely to run ideas by Bella before trying to talk to Sadie because he's not sure how a human would react?

I feel like Alice and Edward would both be pushing for Sadie and Bella to be friends with each other, because Alice knows that Bella will love vampires and want to be immortal, and she hopes that Bella will be an influence on Sadie, and Edward hopes that Sadie will have the opposite influence on Bella and get her to respond more reasonably to him. (He's still in "I'm a monster" mode, so his concerns are more vampire-based, but Sadie's concerns are more on the "He breaks in and watches you sleep?!" side of things.)

Bella and Sadie actually would offer each other a lot of support and encouragement. They wouldn't change each other's opinion much, but the feeling of community, going through the same thing as someone else, would be good for them both.

Seeing the trajectory of Edward and Bella's romance would make Sadie more secure about her initial relationship with Alice and Jasper, since they're moving more slowly and communicating more explicitly and she doesn't feel as overpowered by them as Bella seems to be by Edward. Also, Bella would be a safe place to bring her more sentimental feelings; when Sadie starts to feel something for Alice and Jasper, Bella (who is fully in love with Edward by that point) will be someone she can talk to about it. (Also, Jacob not being in the family yet would mean that, for better or worse, there would be less conflict because Alice and Jasper would get away with a lot more.)

As for Bella, Sadie's friendship would make her feel more comfortable about doing things Edward doesn't approve of. In Eclipse, she often sneaks away to hang out with the wolves, and the vibe is very much like that of a child sneaking out on their parents; Sadie would advocate for Bella's right to hang out with her friends without having to run it by Edward. (Sadie would also want to hang out with the wolves, which could actually be a source of drama, because before the Cullens have hung out with the wolves much, Alice and Jasper would be very tough customers about Sadie going to a place they're not allowed to go and where Alice can't see.)

I think Jasper would hang out with Bella more than he does in canon, if only to test his control. He has to make sure he's fully in control of his thirst, before he allows himself to breathe around Sadie. And it has the added bonus of making Bella like him a lot (which would subtly influence Sadie to like him), because Jasper would be emanating great vibes around Bella, despite using her as a guinea pig for his bloodlust.

The conflict of the first book would be changed by Sadie being involved, because she would probably also be at the baseball field and also need to be protected when James decides he wants to eat Bella. But she would refuse to just skip town and leave her parents, nor would she be willing or able to throw a fake tirade at her house to convince her parents to let her leave. Jasper and Alice would try to insist that they need to bring her with them and Bella, and the conversation from there would basically look like:

"So what's the plan?" Sadie demands, while Edward continues to floor the gas pedal. "We just never come back, in case the tracker thinks to look for us here?"

"We can come back when he's dead," Jasper says.

"By 'when he's dead', do you mean 'when you've killed him'?"

"Probably, though I'm not picky about how he dies, so long as he stops being a threat."

"If he won't stop chasing us and eventually you're going to have to kill him to keep him from killing, then why split up to vastly different locations in the first place?"

And they'd end up just killing James in Forks. Victoria would still get away, since that's a skill of hers, but I feel like Jasper would treat her being loose as a bigger problem, since now she's a threat to Sadie, too, so I don't think Victoria would make it all the way to Eclipse, with Jasper and the wolves on her the whole time.

New Moon mostly doesn't happen. Jasper probably wouldn't lose control over his thirst for Bella's blood with Sadie also in the room, though I feel like it would be a pretty awesome conflict if he did. If Sadie saw him almost kill Bella. That would be wild. Either way, though, the Cullens would not move. Edward might break up with Bella to protect her, and Sadie might stop talking to Alice and Jasper for a while after seeing Jasper try to kill Bella, but the Cullens would stay in town. Bella's depression wouldn't be as intense, because the "It will be as if I never existed" aspect of Edward's dumping wouldn't be there, and because Sadie knowing about vampires, too, and knowing what she's going through would be reassuring. And Sadie would have Alice and Jasper trying to convince her that they're safe to be around. Eventually, Bella would still end up hanging out with Jacob, and Edward would crack and get back together with her when he worries about her hanging out with werewolves. No Volturi visit, so no deadline to change Bella or Sadie. Bella would still really want to become a vampire, but the fact that Sadie is happy with aging would decrease Bella's complex about the whole thing. They'd at least start college before either of them becomes a vampire.

Jasper having been a Confederate soldier would obviously still be a huge source of conflict, especially if Bella is the one to tell Sadie, like if Edward casually tells Bella and Bella casually tells Sadie. That would be a seismic rift between Sadie and the vampires and between Sadie and Bella; she would probably hang out with the wolves way more, over it. At which point Alice and Jasper might break the treaty by going to La Push to get Sadie back, and that would end up being the main conflict.

anyways i’m rewatching all the teen & kid scenes in st2, and remembering how i felt when i watched it wayyyyy back when it first came out vs watching it now is WILD

- i always forget how billy starts off his scene w neil by speaking loudly and with attitude and i think that’s important!!! it’s something we forget often in fic and fandom depictions of the hargrove family dynamic but like. billy is still able to sass like a teenager and raise his voice sometimes and get defensive without being /immediately/ hurt and tbh i think that makes the whole neil thing almost worse !!! it’s at least different than if we pretend that neil’s the type of abuser who is CONSTANTLY blowing up and making everyone walk on eggshells all day long. it seems like he’s more one of those where he HAS good and fair days and then sometimes he’ll just SNAP and TURN and that’s just its own sort of horrible because like…. it’s the false sense of safety it’s the never knowing when the mood is gonna shift it’s the constant testing for boundaries that are ALWAYS shifting, never consistent, never predictable !!!

- also the brief dustin/steve/max scene right before that is comedic GOLD and i watched it four times in a row because i was dying

- billy was SO excited to go on his date or wherever the fuck he was going and i WISH there had been SOME context before that moment as to what he was planning to do because it seemed pretty damn important !!!

BUT in saying that… there are some issues to unpack here, like Carlos trying to be supportive and wanting to listen to TK, and TK shutting him down every single time. And then also the fact that TK simply mentions a new guy and Carlos is instantly jealous/worried? That's… not great

Honestly... I don't even really know what to say. Carlos kind of acted like a dick in this episode? A jealous dick. I can't even say that this was a problem they overcame together - they never even really resolved it. Carlos just invited Cooper over for dinner and that's that.

This storyline will most likely be completely forgotten so why even bother trying to dissect it

IDK who Kyioko is but I saw her and immediately fell in love. I wanna know everything about her now.

First and foremost thank you! 🥲🖤I’ve been tweaking and changing her since I’ve been playing RDR2 to make her more in tune to the game settings. This is a rough put together of some general facts about her.

•Kyioko is 26 at the time of RDR2, she came across the gang very early on after traveling through the grizzlies. In my personal rendition on the story I wanted her first interaction to be with Sadie, I didn’t want to make her this over powered being. She quietly picked off the o’driscols one by one in the span of one night and set boobie traps to ambush each one, and whichever ones where left she took them head on. It was difficult and she ended up taking 2 bullets to her shoulder blade and stomach. She managed to make her way into Sadie’s home and free her from the cellar. Arthur Dutch and Micah show up right before she gets back from forging food for her and Sadie. At first she was extremely hostile and was a trigger away from killing them and running with Sadie but Sadie vouched for them and she cautiously followed them to colter.

•She’s about 5’6 with a medium/large body type. The best way I can describe her is like when plus’s sized women power lift, she’s very strong and holds her feminine features well. She does like doing manual work, it makes her feel as if she is valued and contributing to the gang. She loves to hunt and is adamant about using every part of the animal necessary, she’ll dry and use parts of the animal hide as wrapping for food and gifts. She can easily throw a buck over her shoulder after a hunt.

•She has long wavy Orange hair, blue eyes and freckles. Her eyes are more angular and she has fair skin, her mother was Of I know European origin, and her father was Japanese(Ainu and ryukyuan). She looks neither Asian or European. Kyioko Normally has her hair down, free in the wind. She likes to wear high waisted jeans with a white button up blouse. She has these signature brown boots with red and gold embroidery, her chest holster also has similar embroidery on it. Charles gifted her a raven feather when they first became friends and she wears it on her hat, she also adorns her outfits with many small trinkets that include amber gems and animal bones. She loved the style of the Wild West, her body perfectly compliments the outfits she wears. One of her biggest pet peeves is that tailors don’t normally make working clothes in her size, she has to buy male clothes and tailor them herself. She will not wear skirts or dresses.

•Kyioko was forced from her home and was taken by the government when she was found as a orphan abandoned in the midst of civil unrest. Trained to be a stealth operative, she has a lot of hand to hand combat knowledge and is very physically gifted. I kind of wanted her to give off black widow vibes, cold, deadly but has a soft spot for strange things.

•Kyiokos guns of choice are revolvers, semi automatic pistols and double barreled shotgun. She does always prefer the bow and will try to use it any time she can, she also enjoys throwing knives and baseball bats. A unique weapon she has are knife tipped metal gloves and bladed brass knuckles. Kyioko loves to fight, but she always has to watch herself when it comes to it, shel get carried away and kill someone. This worries her a lot, she doesn’t want to kill unnecessarily but sometimes it just overwhelms her. She’s fast on her feet and likes to play mind games with her opponents. When she’s out on a job shel stalk the target, sometimes even scaring them or playing tricks on them. She is commonly underestimated because of her physical traits, while she’s not very fast she is strong and can lift bales of hay over her head with ease.

•Kiki gets along with almost every one at camp, she is very close to Arthur and Lenny. She’s very much included in all jobs but Susan still makes her do woman’s work here and there. Kiki does not like molly, she thinks molly is stuck up and pretentious, and she feels the same way about Micah. Plus molly called her a racial slur after hearing Micah call her the same thing. Charles nearly killed Micah that day. Molly is protected by Dutch so there’s not much say in that. Kyioko is closest to Sadie, she confides in her for everything and vice versa. They are almost inseparable. The other girls at the camp also like Kyioko, she takes them out to town a lot and helps with chores so Susan doesn’t blow a blood vessel.

•Kyioko has tattoos which is very rare to see in the American time period they are in. She earned her tattoos from helping the other people in her battalion escape, forging and providing food and water for them in their desertion before they made the decision to flee to America. She has a large back tattoo of the Ainu diety Hashinau-uk goddess of the hunt, in some instances her companions mentioned she resembled the ancient being. Her hands where tattooed as well in hajichi, as a child her father used to draw the hajichi patterns on her fists to teach her about their Okinawan heritage and once she escaped as a tribute she got the symbols tattooed on. Lastly she has hikae (traditional Japanese tattoos placed on the shoulders moving onto her chest and biceps) of Raijin and Fujin, Kyioko believed whenever she became upset, excited or experienced a significant flow of emotion it was the gods calling to her. As a tribute she placed them on her chest , that they would protect and guide her through her most difficult times. She has no Eurocentric tattoos.

•Kyioko started her American immigration in California, from her uncommon physical traits along side her tattoos she was the target of many unwanted attention. After being harassed for weeks she was picked up and taken by a traveling circus, with her strength and image they thought she’d be a perfect fit. After some time she managed to escape along side some of the other captives, along side a peculiar black shire horse. The horse stood at 17 hands and seemed to take a liking to Kyioko, even saving her from the bear attack that caused all of her facial and upper body scars. They where friends and ended up giving her the name nago, short for Harionago which is a Japanese demon woman with long black barbed hair.

•some fun facts about Kyioko are that she fully denounces her European roots, she’s never known her mother and her father was killed by the Japanese government. Her father focused a lot about independence and stay true to your heritage, they lived off the grid in a secluded sanctuary deep within rural japan. She spent her life learning the ways of her people and taking care of the shrine with her father. I believe during this japan was going through some civil unrest and that’s where I had her father murdered. I still have to work on the time lines. I wanted her to have high functioning autism or ADHD to directly correlate to her feeling that the gods raijin and fujin are inside her when she gets hyper stimulated or experiences high levels of a specific emotion. She would have these tantrums as a child and her father would tel her stories of the mighty weather gods and that her strength is just trapped inside, that she needed a outlet. He even taught her martial arts and self defense so that when he dies she can take over the shrine. Kyioko ends up having a daughter of her own with Charles named Hana, at first she didn’t take very well to the child but with Sadie’s help she learned to love the child as a mother should and taught her the ways of her people as her father taught her. Kyioko takes very kindly to Charles, she looks at him and sees a lot of herself. One of the biggest things she always struggled with was her self image, her physical form. In the game Charles expressed that some people can’t tell if he is black or native and kyioko related to that a lot, she has these “Asian” features, her eyes, her fair skin, but her eyes and her hair she couldn’t attach herself to a particular group of people, she couldn’t find likeness within any group, making her feel extremely alone. I rp Abigail so I'm ALWAYS happy to indulge. Prompt here if you want anymore. L: I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)- I don't know if Abigail would say I love you first if it's a new relationship. It depends actually on how it ended with John. It would be more likely be a conscious decision on her part rather than it being blurted out - but in a high stakes situation, you never know! It just depends on how safe she feels and at that point, but I think she'd show it in every way she could without saying it first. I think she'd hope the reader would say it first so she wouldn't have to because I hc and believe that Abigail said it first to John and so that makes it scarier for her to be "in charge" again but, if the moment is right she'll do it. Does she say it all the time? I don't know. I think she might say "love you" kind of quickly and quietly instead , or keep them for more quiet moments at first. Definitely night time before sleep. It overall depends on how safe she feels with you/John. If she's with Sadie, there is a lot of guilt involved at first because she doesn't want to push her into anything she doesn't want, but I think it would happen relatively quickly once the dust has settled in the gang.

Q: Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every detail in passing, or do they kind of forget? ) Abigail remembers everything, including things you wouldn't want her to remember. She is meticulous in remembering things like dates and coordinates , directions to travel somewhere or orders to take on a heist. Drink orders at the dive bar she works at in a Modern Au , details about patrons like who will grab asses, who tips well, who tips like shit. When a sex worker, she'd remember who to avoid servicing if she could, when she needed to avoid someone, if someone had a particular fetish, etc. She'll remember everything down to the littlest detail because it's her perfectionism. She does not have a photographic memory, but this is something she strives for. She lived in a time where someone had to be quiet and bide their time just in case their safety called on it. (Ex: knowing dirt on someone, knowing when to be quiet, knowing where to be, how to avoid something) Modern au: But on a lighter sense, she won't forget a birthday, or a dance recital, a baseball game, Jack's projects or tests, and if you have university or a job, she'd help you as well. If It's Sadie, this includes her contracts and her borderline outlaw activities. Unfortunately Abigail hates remembering those because it reminds her of the danger Sadie could be in. She wishes Sadie could just put the guns away and help out on the ranch, but she knows it's not that easy. Now, she does need to look at agendas and sheets every once in a while to refresh her mind, especially if things get chaotic, but she has a huge memory bank R: Remember (What is their favourite moment in your relationship?) She would love for John or a reader to take her out of home, out of town and they drive somewhere to get a nice view. I was thinking as sappy as it might sound - a sunrise because Abigail is usually up for those, but if the reader or John aren't usually morning people, that's a bonus as it would would show they're sacrificing her sleep for Abigail. (Of course, Abigail isn't always happy to be woken up at that time and it's dark, but she's perfectly fine - if not tired - afterwards. Something like getting coffee and breakfast afterward would make it even better.

But she'd also enjoy a sunset in a flower meadow and a meal whether it's a picnic or somewhere cute to eat where she can enjoy her meal and people watch.

U: Ugly (What would be a bad habit of theirs?) She worries and paces so much I bet she could make a mark on a wood floor. I'd also say maybe checking in on people too much. Some people like Jack and John think it's bossy and nosy, but she's trying to help for the most part. If it's Jack or John.........or Uncle, she's trying to make sure they're behaving..

On a lesser scale, she either seems to have great posture, or really bad posture, no in between, it seems. Finally, her squinting at the sun really damages her eyes, causing her a pain.

☕️ max and billy?

so basically i think that their dynamic in s2 was REALLY interesting and one of the more compelling relationships in the show and i don't mean that in a gross weird way i mean it like. like abuse isn't always in parental or romantic relationships and it's so rare to see an abusive sibling relatonship in media that's treated seriously and not downplayed or treated as comedic. they weren't just bickering siblings! billy passed on the abuse he received from his father to max. he hurt her and did his best to terrorize her, and max was deeply afraid of him, and the whole thing just felt incredibly real, though upsetting and painful. when max sedates billy at the end of the season, threatens him with the bat, and is finally the one with the power in their relationship, when she threatens him and finally makes him feel the same terror he's been inflicting on her... i think that's truly one of the most cathartic and emotional moments in the whole show! so i think the max and billy relationship in s2 was pretty cool and interesting in terms of writing (and acting on sadie's part holy SHIT i still cry whenever i see her face in any given scene with billy).

s3.... yikes. yikes. i don't know WHAT the fuck happened there. it's like... okay so there's two ways to approach s3.

one is that the writers Completely fucked up and got lazy. since they wanted the emotional impact that usually comes with a "somebody's been possessed!" storyline, they just decided to downplay/erase the abusive elements of the max and billy dynamic and treat them like normal siblings, so they could have her be dismissive of the possibility that he might be possessed and then have her be totally devastated at his loss. that's why max seems to have basically forgotten that billy abused her. because that's the easiest storyline to write, and it's harder to think of how max might react with all the nuance of her and billy's relationship in play than it is to just treat them like normal siblings, and they didn't want to do the hard thing.

or, if you want to be charitable/twist canon in a way that makes a little bit more sense... maybe we're supposed to assume that billy's been Totally harmless since max turned the tables in s2, and that's why she acts the way she does. ever since she took him down and threatened him into submission, she's not afraid of him anymore. he hasn't bothered her ever since. he's just weird, not scary. the writers didn't forget about his abuse, they just want us to think max is... over it?

i don't know exactly how i feel about this interpretation. it does make a kind of sense, that max might no longer be afraid of billy if we assume he completely stopped behaving the way he did in s2, but i just can't see him doing that. in their daily lives, billy is still bigger than max, older and stronger and the one in charge, and she doesn't have any sedatives or spiked baseball bats lying around. even if he DID stop bothering her completely, i don't think her fear/wariness of him would go away to quite the extent it seems to have gone away in s3. like, even if max doesn't think billy is a threat to HER anymore, she absolutely should have been more on-board with the possibility that billy had done something to heather, considering how she knows firsthand that he can be incredibly violent when he doesn't get his way. if anything, i think that the initial disagreement between el and max during their investigation in s3 should have been max thinking that it was all billy hurting people vs el trying to convince her it was actually the mindflayer.

i'm not gonna argue with max attempting to reason with billy or mourning him, as i do think those are realistic responses for a kid in her situation. while he's hurt her and she doesn't like him, she IS still a kid who just wants a happy family and a brother who'll love her. especially if he stopped harming and threatening her after s2... it's not ridiculous to think that despite everything billy's done and despite her knowledge that he'll probably never change, max might still be hopeful for a future where he's better, a future where he'll be the big brother she wants and deserves (though she probably would never acknowledge this hope).

one thing i find interesting (and a point in favor of the st writers) is how billy was a big part of max's story in s3, but she was not a big part of his. seeing the memories of his mother that el brought out were enough to make billy rebel against the mindflayer, but he didn't even hesitate to punch max in the face all while she was begging him not to hurt her and her friends. el shows billy a brief scene of him meeting max, but this is not what breaks the mindflayer's hold. we don't see max again. the only person billy's ever truly loved is his mother. it's clear that the hope max holds out for billy is in vain; even if he lived, he would never be the brother she wants, because he just doesn't care about her.

if the writers had tried to pull some "see, he really DOES love her!" shit, i would have probably thrown up. in showing us that billy does not love max, they at least refute the idea that abusers do what they do out of love, or that abusers love their victims and are simply too troubled to stop their abusive behavior. all positive sentiment between max and billy comes from max, the vulnerable kid just wishing for someone to look out for her, and i think (despite the writers' other missteps in portraying that relationship in s3) that makes a lot of sense.

TL;DR billy was a piece of shit abuser who never loved max, and max is a vulnerable kid who hated him, yet kept hoping despite herself that maybe one day billy could become the brother she deserved. this relationship wasn't perfectly written, but it's still really compelling and i think it's a great vehicle for max's development.
