• you and saiki first met in chūgakkō, junior high, but he didn’t fall in love with you until a few years later when you two were already in pk academy. maybe it’s all the accidentally bumping into him, dropping your papers and saiki being the one to help you pick them up, making awkward eye contact in class, hanging out with one another outside of school, or touching on the same snack you both are aiming for at either the vending machine or at the store... all the things somehow have you involved these recent days and saiki is less than impressed at first

• saiki has always stated time and time again that he personally does not think he will not fall in love, so he always watches others who are in love and help them if he can, but here he is…completely captivated by you of all people. he didn’t know why though, was the author just really that bored?

— there was a time where you nearly got mugged! and when i say ‘nearly’, well, let’s just say you should be grateful saiki was there to protect you. can’t you see that he’ll always be here for you in a time of need? he’ll keep you safe, but only if you see that for yourself…

• saiki doesn’t think he’s the jealous type, but he will stop any other man who has a crush on you by any means necessary by either relentlessly embarrassing them for the rest of the day or wiping you from their memory because only saiki can have you. no one else. he doesn’t care how many people he has to make forget you to become your boyfriend

• what’s that? you wish it was a sunny day in japan instead of a rainy one? don’t you worry about a thing! saiki will handle that for you!

• stalking you is almost child’s play to saiki since he has so many powers to ensure you don’t spot him — shapeshifting, teleportation, you name it! but this is a good thing because you don’t have to worry about him being an aggressive type of yandere

— if he is following behind you when you’re walking home, i do think saiki would change to his female self, so you would be less scared

• once the author made you bring coffee jelly to school and willingly give it up to saiki after seeing him light up at the sight of it, saiki knew that he just had to marry you

• he could, quite literally, turn the world upside down for you if it meant that you’ll be with him.

Kusuo Saiki x Reader

Prologue: Troublesome "Friends"

Summary: Saiki gives everyone the rundown on his "bothers," including (L/N) (Y/N).

Mouse Note: Welcome to A Not-So-Disastrous Romance! I am very excited to share this story with everyone, even if this fandom is very old. Truth be told, I wrote 11 chapters like three years ago, so the first few chapters don't have the level of writing I have now, but I ended up finishing this story and wanted to share it. For another point, I know that people view Saiki as asexual and sometimes aromantic, but I feel an affinity for him being asexual but demi-romantic, so I play it slow-burn. That being said, terrible beginning writing aside, I really hope everyone enjoys. Let me know what you think, commenting helps me keep writing, and I love interacting with people! Welcome to the story!

Saiki teleported to the roof to avoid Teruhashi and Nendou. One was troublesome enough. Two was insupportable.

“Where’s Saiki? Huh? What’s going?” wondered Teruhashi, confused.

I teleported without thinking. Saiki looked down at the crowd below him. People around me didn’t seem to notice me, but naturally, Teruhashi thinks something is strange. Well, Teruhashi, just think I was an illusion and forget about it.

“Nendou!” remarked the pretty blue-haired girl upon seeing him.

“Oh, wow, Teruhashi!” squeaked Nendou, blushing.

“Have you seen Saiki?” asked Teruhashi.

“What? My pal? No, I haven’t.” Nendou was too startled to think.

N-no way…did he disappear? thought Teruhashi, Is it possible that I was the one seeing an illusion? She recalled what she had assumed of Saiki: “You’re so much in love with me that you see illusions of me, huh?” A light blush spread across her face. Don’t tell me I’m…No! I can’t be… She clutched her heart. Oh, no…What’re these feelings? Is it possible…that I fell in love…with Saiki?

Oh, wow, thought Saiki as he deadpanned. This is not how he wanted things to go.

He sighed and teleported to a nearby, empty alleyway. Sighing, he decided to go for a coffee jelly. With the new problem he had just acquired, Saiki decided he might as well enjoy a little bit of peace. He walked quickly in the opposite direction of Nendou and Teruhashi, even if it took him on a long route to Café Mami. For once in his life, he was lucky and didn’t bump into anyone on the way there. His luck ran out, however, as soon as he entered.

“Saiki!” called a teenager with (H/C) hair and (E/C) eyes. They were grinning and waving.

He couldn’t avoid them now; it would draw attention to him for being rude. He sighed and sat down across from them.

This is (Y/N) (L/N). They’re another troublesome person who complicates my life. They even call me their friend and insist I use their first name. The worst part is I can’t read their mind. They aren’t dumb like Nendou, though. Do you see those earrings?

(Y/N) had simple, metallic studs in their ears.

They’re made of germanium, which apparently keeps me from seeing through them with my X-ray vision or hearing their thoughts with my telepathy.

He had only realized this after he saw them during school and on the weekends and the only thing that was the same between the outfits was their earrings. Saiki wished he could get his hands on some germanium. Hearing everybody’s thoughts was tiring. That being said, (Y/N) being unreadable was…disconcerting.

“Nice to see you, Saiki. Are you here for your usual coffee jelly?” asked (Y/N) cheerfully.

The pink-haired psychic nodded. Yare yare…Why do I hang out with you?

“Oh!” They brightened. “I guess since you’re kind of like my guest right now, I should treat you!”

Saiki’s eyes widened in excitement. Ah, I remember now. (Y/N) treated him to, well, treats. That made them more tolerable than other people.

Seeing his expression, (Y/N) laughed. They knew what he was excited for. “You’re more excited to see the coffee jelly than to see your friend.” They didn’t mind, though. They knew Saiki wasn’t one for being open or friendly, but they’d spent enough time with him to know he’d just leave if he really didn’t like him.

He wanted to say that they weren’t friends, but even he had to admit, he thought they were pretty tolerable compared to most of the people who crowded around him. Sure, their bright optimism was sometimes exhausting to Saiki, but for the most part, they were pretty low-maintenance and understood he was an extreme introvert and liked time to himself. Plus, although they were energetic at times, but they understood when things were too much for Saiki. And, to be completely honest, he didn’t mind getting to be around someone he couldn’t hear the thoughts of. He could act like a relatively normal person.

Saiki would never say all that, though. No way. No, the only thing he’d say was, “Coffee jelly is really good.”

“Can’t argue with that,” admitted (Y/N).

Their server, who coincidentally was Mera (probably trying to make money as usual), approached their table. She took their orders and headed to the kitchen to alert the chefs.

“You look more annoyed than usual, what happened?” asked (Y/N).

Saiki sighed. They unfortunately pay attention to me and can read parts of my emotions. It’s weird. Maybe they’re an empath. “I ran into Teruhashi.”

(Y/N) laughed. “The only guy immune to her charms.”

“She brings too much attention.”

“You’re friends with Nendou and Kaidou. A bit of attention is inevitable,” teased (Y/N), leaning on their hand and grinning.

“They’re not my friends.”

“Uhuh, sure, whatever helps you sleep at night,” chirped (Y/N).

Mera brought their orders. Luckily, she hadn’t stolen a bite from either of the coffee jellies.

“Mmmm,” hummed (Y/N) and Saiki contentedly at the taste.

Peaceful relaxation with (Y/N). Just the way I like it. Saiki sighed happily.

NOTHING TO SEE! ♥︎ saiki kusuo

synopsis : you need to meet your tutor-of-sorts, but bring along your babysitting duties

cw : soichi , knowing junji ito lore isnt needed! , possibly ooc , mention of eating scorpions! , lowercase intended , name used instead of yn

“get down from there right now!” a clatter is heard as a bundle of nails fall to the floor. letting out a sigh, you pinch the bridge of your nose before looking up. “i don’t have time for this today, soichi. are you coming with me or not?”

pink hair is easy enough to spot as your grip on the eleven year old’s wrist tightens. soichi giggles to himself, muttering things you’re glad you don’t hear. you grit your teeth, smiling tensely at your classmate. “i’m so sorry about this.”

as always, saiki kusuo stays silent. he looks from you to the child attached to your arm and blinks. you make soichi sit beside the wall, scooting into the booth beside him as you place your bag on the floor.

you clear your throat, “last minute babysitting duties. his brother is studying for college, so i’m their last resort.” you watch soichi from the corner of your eye — he’s making faces on the window at everyone who passes by. “he listens… fairly well.”

the table goes silent as you bring your school books out. saiki glances at the child again, blinking at soichi's glare. a waitress stops by your table, flinching at every gag soichi releases — he's not a fan of sweets. you smile awkwardly again, letting out a small laugh and apologizing profousely.

"why do i go out in public with you."

as always, you tend to speak your thoughts. saiki flinches at the echo, watching as you scowl at soichi. the kid grins, mouth full of nails as he wiggles in his seat. you sigh, looking back to saiki, "i'm surprised your other friends aren't here. they usually go wherever you go."

"i managed to ditch them." saiki reads through his text book, not meeting your gaze. "for now. they'll probably show up soon."

a squeaking sound interrupts the silence. soichi is taking his pointer finger and dragging it harshly down the window. when he sees both of your eyes on him, he grins. "hehehehe—"

"soichi," you frown, but keep your voice soft, "remember your promise?"

the boy's smile falls, eyes squinting as he pouts. "behave and i'll get a treat."

"not just a treat!" you dig through your bag again, the crinkle of a wrapper hitting saiki's ears. soichi sits up straight, eyes widening and brightening. "your favorite treat."

a lollipop is in your hand, the orange color gleaming in the lights. saiki doesn't hide his disgust at the sight of it ; soichi can't hide his excitement. there's a scorpion in the candy, seemingly still twitching around the stick.

saiki takes a sip of his drink, "disgusting."

soichi hisses at the pink haired boy, “i’ll curse you! may you always find watermelon seeds in your soup!” curling against you cutely, he bats his widened eyes, looking at the lollipop before back at you. "how nice of you to bring me a treat, name!"

"an hour or two of quiet, that's all i ask."

the eleven year old agrees, seemingly purring as he lays his head on your shoulder. you let out a sigh, relaxing at his subdued state. you grin saiki's way, "it's safe to study now! so, i'm confused on this part—"

saiki is in disbelief of what he hears. the child may be calm, but his mind is running and yelling, going in circles with topics. you pop up sometimes — soichi's nicest thoughts are always about you. soichi narrows his eyes at the pink boy — there's a slew of threats and curses heading his way.

"he listens to me the most," you speak up. saiki looks to you and your gentle, caring smile. "that's why his family hired me. i just think i'm nice and he appreciates it."

that could be true. it was shown in your toughts and soichi's. your kindess and the way you listened to the boy ; the way he melted into your side and trusted you.

it made saiki kusuo feel a little warmer than usual.

making a quick saiki x reader headcanon :3

saiki would probably be the type of boyfriend that would randomly ask “would you still love me if i was…” type of questions while you two are probably hugging or cuddling, and it may seem like the type of question he would definitely not ask but you still like to answer them regardless.

he knows you love him but he just want to make sure sometimes (even though he could read your mind too, he just likes hearing you say it out loud since it’s a bit more comforting for him LOL)

he doesn't actively look for any relationships

His friendships were accidents

The only person he admits he loves is his mom (and who doesn't lbh)

For romantic stories, it's difficult to write him well imo

He doesn't actively look for friendships, so stories of romance would have to be very slow burn

Probably a lot of "I'm forced to be here so I'm just not gonna interact with anyone"

If the mc/reader is popular or talented and well known for it, it's gonna take even longer

He doesn't like attracting attention, so it's gonna be extra hard to write him with someone who's always attracting attention

Gonna be a lot of mc/reader trying to get on his good side, but only for friendship because if he hears them think they want a relationship he'll try to avoid them like the plague

He is the definition of hard to get

Building time with the two characters, with them just trying to make Saiki comfortable, is the only way I can see a romance story with him.

Imo Saiki is demiromantic so he really needs a massive bond with someone to allow himself to feel anything for them that way

Mc/reader needs to be a genuine person but not a Mary Sue. Maybe they always speak their mind honestly, but that can result in misunderstanding and people considering them to be rude. Maybe they are kind but to a naive degree and end up in bad situations because of it. Maybe they have some sort of behavioral or emotional mental illness that they hide from others to keep everyone positive.

Saiki won't have a savior complex in these situations, but once he starts forming the small cracks in his walls he'll be more attentive and try to find others to help them out.

Its a very slow and very patience testing process, but I feel like when Saiki falls for someone he falls hard. He may never have done it before (with the acception of a certain boy 👀) but that will make it more intense when it does happen.

We all know mental mutes annoy this boy to no end, and for awhile you were no exception. However, you and Nendo are complete opposites. Nendo is loud, abrasive, dumb, and quite frankly, ignorant. You, on the other hand, are perceptive, kind, and you listen when someone (Saiki) asks (orders) you to do something (go away). And that has led Saiki to respect you.

Teruhashi is 100% jealous when yall get together. I feel like even though saiki isnt necesarily a fan of animals (hes indifferent to them, much like everything else in his life) you guys would go to different animal cafes to hangout/study/relax/escape from the chaos crew. The animals (specifically cats) would be all over Saiki becuase of his indifference, you know howlike if you get a pet cat the cat in question picks whoever likes it the least to be its person? Yea, thats the critters with saiki.

you went up to saiki asking begging to help you study since you are struggling in the subject.

saiki found you less annoying then the rest of the students at PK, so none the less, he agreed.

you said you’d meet him at his house around, 5PM. not immediately after school but way later since school ended.

when saiki agreed you smiled and said, “i’ll surprise you with something since i know you don’t like having people around, take it as my thanks saiki!”

when he heard you think ‘mh, he likes sweet stuff right? maybe strawberry cake’ll do it! god, i hope he likes it.’

yeah, saiki knew he was gonna love having you over.

they were shouting stuff like “our baby ku is making more friends than we though?!” and “oh my! we MUST make dinner to greet them, gosh i hope they like the food!!!”

this is what he didn’t want to happen, but it was too late to stop them because a bell rang at the door.

how did he miss you? he would’ve prepared sooner!!!!

“i’ll get it! ah, im so happy for you ku!”

suddenly saiki’s father appeared behind his mother tearing up in excitement.

“i’ll just open the door.”

“too late kusou, your mothers already opened the door and is obsessing over them and- OH MY GOD IS THAT STRAWBERRY CAKE?”

saiki just stood awkwardly in the back as he watched his parents force you to sit onto their dinner table as you three ate the cake you brought.

“me and y/n have to STUDY. please leave us alone.”

“c’mon ku! eat this delicious cake with us, your friend worked extra hard for this!”

saiki sighed and sat down in the wooden chair beside you as you passed him a slice of your cake.

“i hope you like it saiki, i made it with you in mind. we can study later!”

he grabbed his fork and stabbed a piece of the fluffy cake and put it in his mouth.

when the cake touched his taste buds his aura totally changed!

he had a cutesy, happy aura around him instead of that cold feeling that surrounds him at all times.

he’s smiling while going for the last bite of the cake but suddenly drops the smile as it hits him thats that is the last bite of his slice.

“well, we better get studying huh? should we stay here or go to your room saiki?”

“my room.”

the two of you studied until you physically, mentally and spiritually could not.

when you were getting ready to leave saiki asked you,

“do you know how to make coffee jelly?”

“absolutely i do! my nephew loves it so i make it for him all the time!”

“could you make it for me tomorrow for lunch? its fine if you can’t..”

“awe, of course i can saiki! but i gotta get going, my moms gonna freak if i don’t get home soon.”

before you could even open the door his mom’s rushing to you thanking you for coming and how you’re so good looking!

oh ku must be so lucky if your his friend, maybe you guys should—

alright thats enough!

saiki rushed you out of the door and wished you well and quickly teleported to his room to avoid the questions he knows he’s gonna get drowned in.

in the blink of an eye saiki was in bed ready to sleep but he couldn’t.

not because of the incoming thoughts from others 24/7, because he was fantasizing about that coffee jelly he was gonna eat tomorrow.

saiki may be an all powerful being with no weakness, but your treats made him feel normal.

he really really likes your baking and you. <3

Summary: Saiki’s powers always have some sort of disadvantage and he just found a new one using clairvoyance or so he says.

sometimes you laugh at saiki. But it’s for a good reason. A very good reason let me tell you— it’s not mean I swear! But since you’re dating the man you know about his powers and it explains why he would cross his eyes at random moments or just do weird shit sometimes (sometimes cuz he’s weird in general but that’s ok because we love him anyways). So you got to see him use his clairvoyance from up close. And then you laughed at him.

It’s just one of those things you like to tease Kusuo about, there’s no malicious intent when you giggle at him using his powers. When you first laughed he was so confused trying to figure out what was so funny, until he realized you were laughing at him using his clairvoyance.

Your giggling got the best of Kusuo and he decided to see what was so funny.

‘What are you laughing at?’ He said in his usual deadpan voice.

You took a minute to try and compose yourself to actually be able to speak, thought it didn’t really matter since Kusuo can read your mind anyways.

“I’m sorry it’s just that you look so funny using clairvoyance.” You covered your mouth trying your best to contain your laughter as your boyfriend continued to stare at you with a blank face.

‘…how? I’m just crossing my eyes- ok I see the problem now, but it’s not even that funny, I just look weird.’ He said trying to reason with you on why him crossing his eyes is anything but funny.

You obviously didn’t feel the same. “Which is why it’s funny, Ku!” I mean someone’s who’s pretty stoic just randomly crossing his eyes just pretty silly, of course it’s funny!

‘It really isn’t.’ Kusuo said trying to get back to stalking watching his friends.

You smiled and put your head on his shoulder “I still think you look super cute either way!” You said poking his cheek.

Kusuo sighed ‘You’re such a pain, you know that.’ He said as he turned his head away from you as he used his powers to cool his face down.

You smiled “And you’re even worse, but I still love you!” Even if you couldn’t see his face you could tell he was smiling as well.

It’s just funny watching someone as stoic as Kusuo cross his eyes and watching him react to whatever he sees from a third person’s point of view. It’s funny but cute, I mean look at him! Sometimes you smooch his cheek when he’s using clairvoyance and it throws him off because he was so focused at whatever he was looking at.

Another thing is that your thoughts about him distract him. You think he’s cute, handsome and all those wonderful names in the book, and he just can’t focus when you think such nice and wholesome things about him. Stop being nice to your emotionally constipated boyfriend >:(! (Don’t stop. Never stop) Can’t you see he’s in the middle of spying on his friends!

At this point he just pulls you to his lap and holds you while he does his thing. He’ll tell you what he sees and narrates what’s going on as a way to include you in his spying monitoring. Sometimes he’ll just randomly teleport into your room just to tell you about what he sees using clairvoyance. As you place kisses on his face.

saiki k x sick!reader (part two)

these are for you. that was a flat out lie. where had it come from? he hadn't even consciously made the decision to tell you that. he was craving coffee jelly all day, and now he was sacrificing the one thing that brought him genuine joy. was this what people described as self sabotage?

"oh my god, that's so sweet! you really shouldn't have. thank you so much," your glowing smile might've compensated for his newfound lack of coffee jelly, "uh, please, come in!" you moved aside for him.

no, thanks, he told himself. thanks, was the response you heard. he really was on a roll today, huh? putting aside his confusion and frustration towards this unprecedented behaviour, kusuo nodded courtly and carefully entered your house, taking care to remove his shoes at the doorway and wait for you before going any further.

you led him to your kitchen, where a quaint table and two simple chairs stood off to the side. "here, have a seat," you tried to make him feel welcome, "what's in the bag, anyway?"

just some coffee jelly, he delicately unpacked the dessert, which came in a pack of three plastic cups decorated with bright cartoons and colourful text. with practiced precision, he tore open the packaging and pulled out a single cup, placing it before you.

"ooh, the kusuo special!" you laughed amiably as you inspected the cup. he never got over the way you said his name.

after bringing to the table two dessert spoons, you reached into the pack and retrieved another cup. without asking if he wanted one or making a big show of offering the sweet to him, you simply placed the coffee jelly in front of kusuo.

for a few moments, he stared at you dumbfoundedly. why were you being so nice? what was there to gain from sharing dessert with a quiet, inert person like him? he never made an extra effort to please you or interact with you - didn't that bother you?

reluctantly, he accepted this offer (he can never seem to resist a coffee jelly under any circumstance, anyway). the two of you sat at the kitchen table, consuming the bittersweet delicacies in what you liked to think was a comfortable silence. once finished, you stood up. now she'll kick me out and tell me i've overstayed my welcome, kusuo concluded.

"wait here. lemme go put that math homework away and i'll be right back, okay?" you defied kusuo's expectations yet again.

he listened for the light sound of you padding up the stairs. waited to hear it again. couldn't wait to hear it again, because that would mean you were coming back to him. coming back to sit with him and talk with him and smile and laugh at him.

after some time, kusuo realised that you had been upstairs for quite a while. he crossed his eyes and, using his clairvoyance, discovered that you'd passed out on your bed. he logically conceded that this must've been the result of a sudden tired haze. you were really sick, after all. your covers were still neatly folded and your math homework was thrown messily beside you. your legs draped lazily over the side of your bed.

this was his chance to leave. but it would surely be rude, right? for you to wake up and find that he had left you behind when you had intended to spend more time with him. as though his body had a mind of its own today, he bounded up the steps to your room.

once he entered your bedroom, he stood frozen for a couple of moments. was he even allowed to be in here?

you rolled over slowly, murmuring sleep talk. you almost fell off your bed. kusuo moved forward and hoisted your body back up with both arms. he carefully unfolded your blanket and laid it over you, ensuring that it covered enough of you without making you feel uncomfortable. he adjusted your pillow with one hand, holding your head in his other with the utmost level of care he possibly could. after putting your head down, his hand moved down to hold your cheek gently. a delicate thumb swept across it.

realising this, kusuo hastily recoiled and he felt himself warm up inside as every bit of exposed skin flushed beet red. she drools. cute, he thought. a content smirk found its way onto his lips.
