My dollies really do not get much love these days. :( You may not be aware, but a few years back, I was really into making 1:12 scale ball jointed dolls (BJDs) (under 6 inches tall). It's a very time consuming process, and my original sculpts left much to be desired. I still love them, though, and I'd really like to refine my sculpts and get back into doll making some day. I miss giving my sweet girls attention and making them little outfits. Poor Weiss doesn't even have her own outfit yet. That's one of my Feferi doll's old dresses. Anyway, here are some rare photos of Smol Weiss and Smol Lapis standing. Smol Lapis can't stand for very long, but Smol Weiss can stand for at least 2 hours. People keep knocking her over, and it is very disappointing. Both dolls are 100% made by me, including eyes, wigs, and outfits. They are cast in epoxy resin. And if you have a fear of dolls or have something ugly to say about my work, keep it to yourself. Dolls seem to bring rude idiots out of the woodwork, and it makes me not want to share them as much, which sucks because I have poured tons of time and love into these dolls. Rest assured, I don't give a damn about customer service on here. Here's another one of my newer projects! I bought these cute butterfly charms from @firemountaingems recently because I wanted to experiment with them and see what I could do. They come in 3 different colors: silver, gold, and bronze. I've covered each charm in black epoxy resin (after curing for 3-4h because these charms aren't level, and I didn't want the resin to pool to the middle) and burnished them with a ton of different powders from @solarcolordust! I've also included one of @iceresin's opal line (I didn't like it; The opals are better suited inside transparent resins) and some fine red glitter because no one else has a proper, rich red. Naturally, I had to make some RWBY-themed ones. Those have a solo photo. I've incorporated some cute glitter shapes from @glitterhippostore into those just to see how they would work. Ruby has pink drops (like rose petals), Weiss has blue diamonds (putting 6 together actually makes a snowflake, but there was no room), Blake has purple moons, and Yang has yellow hearts. As you can see, they're quite small, only about 13mm wide. I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do with them. When I first posted about them in my story, a bunch of people messaged me with simply "earrings," which is a pretty obvious and generic answer. I do have a few earring design ideas for these, and I'd also like to incorporate them into charms and figurines. After the great success of my Pyrrha and Spiderman cremation pendants at Anime Zap, I've been asked to branch out. @adrenaline_cosplay has asked me to make a Summer Rose cremation pendant with a few extra design elements. I tried to post this at the beginning of March, but Instagram crashed and ate my post before I could save the text. It was the start of a very bad month and I didn't have time to repost, and I just got so discouraged after that anyway. =/ Anyway! I made some dust vials in a variety of colors! I wanted to make these more like the cartridges Weiss uses in Myrtenaster rather than the jar she has in Vol. 1. I also used glass microbeads instead of glitter since I prefer that look. Each vial is glass and is lovingly handpainted with the Schnee emblem. That's right, that's NOT a sticker. I painted that. Each one is 5mm-8mm tall, since they're done by hand and thus vary. I chose the colors based on what we know of Dust in canon. White: Earth (Leo uses it in Vol. 5) Red: Fire Orange: appears to be lava; Cinder may have used it, and I believe it was also in Vol. 3 Yellow: Lightning Green: Wind (Dew uses this in the NDGO vs SSSN fight; the wiki will tell you wind and earth swapped colors, but that is overall false) Cyan: Hard Light Light Blue: Water (not canon, but we know water dust exists as a primary type) Dark Blue: Ice Purple: Gravity Pink: ??? Miccostumes' Myrtenaster has pink dust, and Nora has *something* pink in Magnhild, but we don't know what. If I had to guess, I'd assume it was a combination of Earth and Gravity (since Earth and Fire would make orange Lava), possibly making magnetic Dust? At less than 2" long, these dust vials make great necklaces or earrings! ZWEI?! 🔥🔥🔥 I've been wanting to make flaming Zweis for AGES. March was very difficult for me, so despite being pretty overwhelmed, I took a self care day and sculpted, since that was a way for me to do something soothing and still be productive. My suffering has become your joy, because Flaming Zwei was born! As with all my charms, Flaming Zwei was hand sculpted in polymer clay (I use Fimo) and baked. I then made several molds using silicone rubber from @smoothon and cast 5 Zweis at a time in epoxy resin. While Flaming Zwei is not a complicated sculpt, he is much larger than most of my charms (2" instead of 1") because I wanted the pieces to be thick enough if I chose to make squishies (I may not be able to because of the high material cost), and the mold is very complicated. Flaming Zwei is cast in opaque white (body) and transparent orange and yellow (fire) resin. Because of the number of colors and the undercuts in the mold, each mold must be held together with 3 rubber bands while curing. After curing, each corgi is lovingly demolded, painted, and sealed. It takes about 40 minutes to create a single Flaming Zwei. If you'd like your own, I'll have them at Animinneapolis and Anime Midwest, or you can buy one from me directly. They are not on Etsy. Here's (hopefully) today's mailing! My car started fine yesterday in subzero temperatures...until I turned it off to go back in and change. It's much warmer today, so hopefully I can get to the post office. Regardless, everything is made and packed. LOTS of RWBY stuff this week, including a pair of Raven rings. I have never made a ring with her emblem on it before, so that is a first. My LGBT items include two bracelets that have been made to fit larger wrists. I usually do this by either adding a full extra repetition of the flag pattern or by inserting clear glass spacer beads. The same is true for bracelets that need to be smaller, but I subtract full patterns instead. I NEVER make bracelets with a partial pattern because I don't like how that looks. It is very difficult, borderline impossible, for me to take photos like this or generate little writeups about myself if I don't have any kind of framework or rubric to follow. It's too open ended, and I don't have any way to gauge if I'm wrong or not. I usually end up being asked to trim things down, which means I have to omit something crucial. It's pretty crippling, and it's one of many things I hate about myself. Even looking at this, I'm still kicking myself over things I left out even though I didn't think they'd make sense to include. Despite making art, I have zero concept of composition or how to make photos look good. I've never actually taken an art class. A lot of the concepts are completely over my head. So I'm worried that I've submitted a "bad" photo even though probably no one will even look at it or care. Idk if this is actually executive dysfunction, but whatever it is, it sucks. Gelato, anyone? These are the orders I mailed shortly before CAD. Someone ordered a set of Roman and Neo keychains: two plain, and two glow-in-the-dark with glitter. This is the 4th and final Lantern Corps ring post! A few days ago, I mentioned in my IG story that I was finally starting on making Lantern rings! I wasn't very good about making updates, but I did get a compilation of photos as I worked. All of these photos are of @SolarColorDust's invisible glow powders in action! Fun fact: their color is also affected by the background color. I will eventually make a post about what I've learned about GITD and resins. Since the rings are round in the comics, I am only using round signets. In order, I have White, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet, and Black. I will be posting more updates throughout the day to show how they look with added color, dyed resin, and glow powder. I'm not really into comics in general, but people have been asking me about making these rings for a few years. I've been reading up on the lore, and I find it very interesting. I do intend to have these rings available at my upcoming cons, BUT I will not be able to take commissions for them unless I am at a local con, since they require glow powder and dyed resin.
