Notre Dame Cathedral in the city of Paris

Considered one of the most important Gothic-style cathedrals in the world, Notre Dame symbolizes much more than architecture and religion.

Built in 1345, it has been included in literary works and in it have happened very outstanding historical events. It is said that this religious temple was built in honor of Mother Mary, it is for this reason that its name Notre Dame arises.

One of the peculiarities of this building is that it is located on an island, specifically on the Island of La Cité. This architectural symbol can be visited by tourists not only to be able to observe its Gothic style, but also there happened a series of very important events.

The monument witnessed the coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte. It is also due to numerous social and political revolutions, and suffered constant looting, as did its relics.

Notre Dame also witnessed the beatification of Joan of Arc and also there henry VI of England was crowned. History has marked its footprints in this construction, which is a symbol of France, since during World War II it was used as a food depot. However, despite the continuous battles that existed the building witnessed large cultural episodes and still continues as a symbol of Gothic architecture.

In addition to its majestic building, this monument has crypts, they can be visited by tourists. If you are in Paris it is essential to climb the tower of the construction of Notre Dame and get an incredible view of the Parisian city, as well as the River Seine and Ile de la Cité. Although tourists can access the church for free, if we want to climb the tower or visit the crypt, we must pay a fee.
