i'm gonna make my painful contribution to The Discourse and say i do not see the harm in women reclaiming female centric spirituality.

i am not a religious person nor do i want to become one but spirituality is also about culture, community and celebration. i would much rather women celebrate nature, the female form, and "divine femininity" than patriarchal phallocentric religions. that "divine femininity" is used pejoratively has always tickled me considering we live in a world hooked on divine masculinity. the old matricentric religions are really the only form of female culture devoid of male-centric worship we can grasp at, since men have dominated our belief systems for thousands of years. and women learning about the old religions is the best way to unravel the myth of the male creator, and realise it is really women who are the closest thing to a "god" on Earth.

there's also an element here, which i think is deeply capitalist, patriarchal, and a little racist, of people considering the connection to & celebration of nature as somehow primitive. i think that the lifestyles most of us live now, with none of us knowing anything about the land around us is actually very infantile and regressive for humanity as a whole. the ways of life we consider "primitive" (primitive communism, matrilineal societies) are really what we need to find ways to return to post-capitalism. they were in tune to nature, sustainable, and much more communal & equal. how can nature be primitive or ascientific when science *is* in nature, and the practices of these old societies were early scientific discoveries & practices. as a Black person, my community is often trying to reclaim our lost practices. it makes sense to me that women would try to do so too.

#i think most of the people posting against this are not understanding what is meant by spirituality #it's not necessarily beliefs in spirits+magic #imo it's something quite sensory #i don't wanna celebrate things like magic & witchcraft personally but #i am looking to replace the christian holidays with nature centered holdiays (the wheel of the year - samhain etc)#radblr

JASICO WEEK DAY 6: CROSSOVER

(OMG Check, Please! Crossover)

A puck ricochets off the boards and, like clockwork, the newbie drops.

“That one didn’t even come close to him,” Percy mutters as he sweeps by on the ice, circling around behind the net. Nico’s shoulder twitches, though he doesn’t look.

The newbie stays down. Coach Brunner squats beside him, putting a hand gingerly on his back. Newbie flinches.

“He shouldn’t be playing if he can’t handle it,” Nico mutters, averting his eyes only when Newbie raises his head back up.

Percy’s side-eye is a physical sensation on the side of his face. “He can get used to it. The season hasn’t even started yet, man, we gotta give him a chance.”

That’s fucking bullshit. Nico tightens his grip on his stick and does not snap, because it’s not Percy’s fault their rookie is inept. Percy doesn’t deserve Nico’s outrage. He’s trying his best.

Newbie’s shaking so bad, Coach has him go sit on the bench to calm back down. The rest of the team have started doing their drills in slow-motion, their heads all turned to stare at the incident.

A distraction. The newbie is a fucking distraction, Nico can’t handle a distraction right now, not when Connor and Chris need to work out their passes, not when Charlie and Mike need to get their shit together in the defensive zones.

Nico slams his stick blade-first into the ice, cracking silence through the dull buzz. Attention, fucking finally, turns back to him.

“Focus on your work,” Nico says, as threatening as he can. “Are you going to be this distracted midgame? No? Didn’t fucking think so.”

Activity resumes. Nico throws his mask back down over his face and does not meet Percy’s eyes, when he starts taking mean, hard-to-block shots.

(Nico also does not look at Newbie, who put his head down again the second Nico’s stick hit the ice. Right now, that's not his fucking problem. If the guy can't get his goddamn head on right, Nico doesn't have the space to give two shits.)

#jasicoweek2023 #day6 #Jasico #Jason Grace #Nico di Angelo #Percy Jackson #okay so I know Jason's name isn't even SAID. but Jason is Newbie #this is a crossover of OMGCP wherein for the first year of the comic the main love interests. do not like each other.#Jack (who Nico has replaced) is a downright asshole to Bitty (who Jason has replaced) because Bitty refuses to hit or get hit #which is a Big Damn Deal in hockey #I figured that in this AU Jason would have no problem taking hits #BUT #he might have some kind of sound sensitivity/instinct to panic or hide when there's a sudden loud sound #like a puck hitting the boards or a stick on the ice.#not sure of the exact reasoning he would react like this but I'm thinking it could be a combo of sensory issues plus trauma plus PTSD #Like maybe Jason was a soldier for 2 years or something before coming to play wherever they are #and sometimes the sounds of pucks are a Little Too Much like gunfire #anyway I know this isn't much but it's all I have the bandwidth for right now and I might write more in the future

I don't know who needs to hear this but if your clothes are too big or too small and causing you discomfort or sensory issues for any reason you deserve ones that will make you more comfortable. U don't have to tough it out. U deserve to be comfy.

#Something I learned this week.#A specific piece of clothing was a sensory nightmare to me and I thought I didn't deserve to replace it because it was partially due to #being in between sizes. And for a while I thought I just had to exist and be miserable.#I finally decided that wasn't right. Got a few necessary items in the right size.#And it's been better for me. No meltdowns.#I'm sorry I know this post has a lot of run-on sentences.#Sensory issues

i wish i could enjoy leverage but so much of that show is watching bad people getting their comeuppance in terribly uncomfortable ways and rather than deriving any pleasure from this, my anxious brain just kicks into overdrive of "what if that happened to us"

#i watched a good number of episodes with my friend who's a fan #and that episode where they replace that guy's anxiety medication with caffeine pills and trap him in an elevator?#or something like that?#actually quite upsetting to me. even just remembering that scene makes me feel anxious #i guess shit like that gets under my skin more than say‚ straight-up violence‚ bc it feels more plausible in day-to-day life #like i'm probably never gonna be involved in some john wick style armed brawl #but the thought of someone intentionally driving me into an anxiety attack bc they hate me feels much more real and personal #it's kinda funny bc i think that putting the bad guys in Sensory Hell rather than doing anything ''worse''#is the show's way of keeping things light-hearted #but for me it's like ''NO THANK YOU‚ I'LL TAKE THE VIOLENCE PLS''#idk idk i'm weird‚ i just know i'd happily take a pistol whip to the face over caffeine pills during an anxiety attack any day
