So we've made a lot of in-game progress since the last little update I made on my random Valerie-inspired playthrough of Dragon Age Inquisition:
The big story advancement was choosing between the templars and mages to close the Breach. I still have no idea where Valerie really stands on magic, the Chantry, etc., so I opted to go for my personal favorite route: disbanding the Templar Order and bringing them under the Inquisition. I just really like Ser Barris (a good man who has mistakenly given his life to a shitty institution and is now coming to terms with it? Why yes, I do have a type, thanks for asking) and The Champions of the Just is prrooobably my favorite quest in the whole game because it's one of the only quests across the entire series that really gives us a good glimpse into the secret life of templars, so to speak. Like we get to see a lot of what life is like behind closed Circle doors for mages in all the games (especially if you play as a mage in Origins), but not so much the templars. Even in DA2, where you do have more access to templars, it's still mostly their public-facing arenas, like the Gallows courtyard. And the way Barris describes how the Order slowly introduced red lyrium into the ranks is horrifying on so many levels. (Also, it always fucks me up that the fully corrupted templars don't die as human enemies, but as creatures.)
This means Valerie met Cole! She also met Dorian since she did talk to Fiona before going with the Templars, and if I recall correctly, he's gonna be pretty pissed that she went with the Templars, whoops. First impressions: Cole: ???? Does not compute. But she's pragmatic and he helped her so he can stay for now. Dorian: Far too pleased with himself, but he's obviously brilliant so at least it's not without cause.
Jury is still out if I'm actually going to romance anyone in this run--Leaning towards no, but Valerie is a bit of a flirt by nature and a heartbreaker in Cyberpunk canon so I have had her up the charm with a few characters: Blackwall: Serious, hardened warrior too committed to his duty and with a manbun (he's modded in my game) certainly meets some of her requirements, and his delighted response when she told him he's better suited to getting eaten by a dragon is fun for everyone. But he's a little too enamored with her too fast and he's not honest. Verdict: Needs less simping, less lying, and more biting sarcasm. Cullen: Flirting with him was more for old times sake and because I wanted to see the cute smile the Inquisitor makes when they say they're willing to listen to his lectures. But Valerie in a lot of ways is sort of a spiritual successor to my favorite Hawke, Rhiannon, whomst I shipped hard with Cullen so there is something there. Cullen also fits the decent-man-coming-to-terms-with-serving-a-corrupt-organization archetype. I think he's just slightly on the wrong side of priggish and dorky for her, though. But perhaps most importantly: I don't want to romance him again, lmao. Verdict: Get wrecked, nerd. Cassandra: I don't currently have a mod installed to romance her as a femInquisitor, so I would have to grab on in order to make this happen obviously. But I think Cassandra actually has the highest potential here: grumpy, stubborn, impulsive warrior trying to stick to a righteous path even if she's full of doubts? With a secret soft side?? I mean, come on. That's perfect. Verdict: Modding magic vs Wench's laziness: Who will win?
I want to grind a little bit more before actually closing the Breach (and dying from cringe at that goddamn singalong scene) so I've been chipping away at various quests in the Storm Coast, Hinterlands, and Fallow Mire. I remember really disliking the Fallow Mire when I first played, mostly because of the undead popping up everywhere, but I'm actually finding it far less of a slog than the other two maps this time around. Like a fairly small map that I can actually clear without huge expanses of emptiness that are just there to make the game seem bigger? Yes, please.

Can you help me understand why Xue Yang never swears vengeance against JGY? Sorry for the dumb ask, Lise.....
not a dumb ask! this is an interesting one and part of why it's interesting is that there's several potential answers and no one definitive one, so it can be very "choose your own adventure" as far as what suits.
the most obvious explanation is that Jin Guangyao didn't actually try to have Xue Yang killed - that he loudly told everyone that Xue Yang Was Executed Now Actually, quietly pushed Xue Yang out the back door and told him not to come back, and an unrelated party caught up to Xue Yang and beat him to a pulp to be found by Xiao Xingchen. (or, alternately, the plan was for a little light beating to sell the bit but it got somewhat out of hand and more serious than intended/someone got overenthusiastic.)
this would make a lot of sense, including in terms of Jin Guangyao, who we know can be sort of sentimental about not killing people even when it would be technically safer/"smarter" to do so (notably, Sisi). it would also explain why Xue Yang doesn't seem super fussed about his unceremonious exit from Jinlintai and is happy enough to go back to working with Jin Guangyao and Su She after Xiao Xingchen dies - there wasn't a betrayal at all, and his ending up dying in a ditch wasn't Jin Guangyao's fault.
my personal favored explanation is a little more complicated because that's how I like it - which is to say that I tend to go with "Jin Guangyao did intend for Xue Yang to die, didn't feel great about it but it was necessary, Xue Yang fully expected that to happen eventually and wasn't even really surprised when it did." and then why he doesn't turn around and go after Jin Guangyao the way he does after others...a few reasons:
1. Initially: it'd be kind of stupid to try. Xue Yang is a fairly pragmatic person, really, and when it comes down to it Jin Guangyao is kind of out of his reach. He's well protected and even if Xue Yang could get to him then getting out again would be a pretty tall order. Xue Yang is dedicated to his vengeance plans (except when they get derailed by unexpected domestication) but he's also pretty practical about them.
2. It turns out okay for him, actually! Yeah, he lost his powerful protection and almost died but (a) that was always going to happen eventually and (b) he ended up with a pretty soft landing all things considered, and a pretty cushy set up in Yi City that he was happy with. So why throw himself at a very difficult vengeance target when ultimately things worked out all right? Not like Xue Yang wants to walk out on his domestic bliss elaborate vengeance scheme to target his ex-boss when he'd probably just die doing it.
3. When it stops turning out okay and Xiao Xingchen goes and unalives himself, Xue Yang wants something from Jin Guangyao (namely, help and resources for resurrecting his dead Daozhang) more badly than he wants revenge. That just takes priority, and again (in terms of pragmatism), Xue Yang can prioritize.
4. On some weird level Xue Yang still likes Jin Guangyao. Trusts, no, likes, yes. Yes, he screwed him over! (Not very surprising: that's just what everyone does.) But he was/is also a friend (one of Xue Yang's first and only) and that means he gets a fair bit more latitude, I think, than anybody else. Because Xue Yang is very loyal, in his way. So if there's enough reasons to make the decision that this once he will let that whole thing go...I can see him doing that, very graciously and magnanimously. He's so nice like that.

                              HSHQTASK050: SEXUALITY
Fanni considers sex as an excellent pastime. Sometimes it is all sex needs to be. It’s the balance she struggles with: owning her sexuality while still feeling proper is very challenging.
Her superficial opinion on sex changes with her mood. If she is feeling very comfortable in her skin, then there’s really no issue with sex... and if not, then sex is pushed far far far away from her mind and, quite frankly, condemned. As enjoyable as it can be, it’s easy for Fanni to feel that it’s wrong. It’s one of the reasons why she finds relationships so lovely — in a relationship it’s completely fine to want to have sex, and honestly, a good partner gives sex... some people consider it a form of love! It’s definitely more appropriate to have sex in a relationship.
— it needs to be said that Fanni has never made the mistake of confusing sex for love. Whether she likes it or not, her approach to sex has always been a bit more pragmatic. Sex has an end goal in her opinion and love is not necessary by any means.
Her first sexual relationships were pretty far from fulfilling. Lots of fumbling around and feeling awkward and embarrassed. The sort of shame that came with not knowing what to do was the absolute worst for Fanni. Luckily there was a fairly easy fix: to have more sex. In order to consider a sexual encounter a success, she needs to feel like she did well. She takes performing serious in that sense, and she’s been doing it long enough to know how to cheat praise out of partners  — like for example, the controversial deepthroating, in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t do much as an act if it’s removed from context but it’s part of a performance. It’s pornographic. It’s a trick. It’s part of a show. It can set her apart from others. There’s certain kind of enjoyment and satisfaction to be derived from knowing you and your actions had a strong effect on someone.
And that’s another thing: sex can be a confidence boost for Fanni. What’s better than knowing you’re desired and wanted? Not many things if you ask her.
Her sexual orientation is a bit trickier. Her bisexuality is one of those things that she just decided never to address because in her opinion it was irrelevant. Women were beautiful creatures and Fanni is yet to find anything quite as erotic as a pair of bare boobs but... it’s troublesome. There’s nothing to be gained from coming out of the closet or even getting involved with another woman: settling down with a woman was never ever part of her plan. It just did not fit in there, it just would not. So she keeps that part of her out of the way. It’s irrelevant. She does not have time to spare on irrelevant things no matter how personal.
And what it comes to personal preferences, Fanni likes to keep things exciting. One night stands are one thing  — the point of a one night stand is to get a release, whatever. But in a proper relationship built on mutual trust... there’s no harm in experimenting every once in a while. Sometimes getting rough and adding more psychological aspects to a session is much more fulfilling and satisfying than sticking to what has been proven to be excellent. Truthfully, she probably would end up very unsatisfied if things were very familiar and safe all the time. Especially when the slight change doesn’t need to be anything major.

wanna see you keep talking about AT: what's your biggest criticism with each character in the series (as in a writing failure/something you didn't like about them, things of that sort)
Aww fuck! Now you’re asking.
Everyone: Sometimes they went a bit too far with making the characters act dumb, sociopathic, etc. The show would usually be pretty consistent with having them react humanely. It was season 5, when the show had started taking itself seriously, that the characters acting sociopathic felt like a bit too much.
Finn:  In his “jerk arc” he went too far. He had no empathy for the lemon people, he had even less than PB, who was already acting pretty sociopathic. He legitimately harrassed both FP and PB. He touched FP’s shoulder and made her uncomfortable. He stroked PB’s hand after the high five in Too Old, which by the way has actually been cut in many countries due to how gross it was. He got super weird in Rattleballs where he was a total simp and told PB about the robot even though he knew she’d kill him, just because he wanted to impress her.  Then in The Tower, he had tunnel vision and legitimately KILLED like a dozen candy people with his tower, which was hilariously referenced in Hot Diggety Doom when he said the candy people don’t trust him anymore.  I didn’t like that they made his arm grow back. Or that he kissed a million princesses in Breezy, which is a poor reflection on the crew’s treatment of girl characters in the show :P I know we ended up with the awesome Fern arc, and Finn got over his romantic hangups in a satisfying way, but the amount of people the episode alienated is unreal. It did a lot of damage to the fandom.
PB: I hate the entire way they baited her having feelings for Finn. If you remove that kiss in Too Young, her character makes much more sense. Reading her around it makes the ep seem like a massive inconsistency. I don’t like they waited four seasons to work on her as an actual character.  I feel like they went a bit too far in making her cold and pragmatic or sociopathic. Just a smidgen. This is because some of her actions verge on irredeemable. I’m mostly thinking about her relationship with Flame Princess. It doesn’t seem right she’d have no feelings about ruining the life of a fairly innocent child. Also she totally got a bunch of flame people killed in The Cooler. At least in The Cooler, she demonstrated a modicum of doubt before taking apart the sacred Fire Giants. She’s certainly not like the Diamonds, but FP was right to say she was a bad person, and I’m glad she was horrified by what she was becoming, but couldn’t immediately turn off her paranoia or bad instincts - it’s something she works on for the rest of the show and post-canon. (It’s also why shes a million times better than the Diamonds) I think her character in season 10 could have been better handled. For start we got no followup to Elements. It’s pretty significant she became a giant candy monster and brainwashed all of Ooo, no???? It did take them two seasons but they eventually showed she was impacted by having been possessed by the Lich. I was hoping we’d get exploration with Elements too, especially because of how much she unintentionally hurt everyone, like Marceline. They tied her actions in the series far too much to her character for it to feel like something that could be brushed off.    But what was weirdest was that she wanted to go to war with one of her creations. That didn’t seem right. Pb has a complicated relationship with Lemongrab, shown right up through to the same finale (even exploring how they would currently interact in Diamonds & Lemons), and she didn’t want to go to war with him, but she did want to get him usurped by Lemonhope. If she is willing to stoop to war now, why didn’t she just... yknow.... have Gumbald executed? Stealth plan? It seems far more up her alley, and he even tried the same thing. The season finale tried to say she felt under pressure to go to war, but I don’t think it does a good job at communicating why. Why wouldn’t a secret mission work? Would it count as a war crime? If it did, who would sanction her? Gumbald in general sucks. There are better “dark reflections” of Bubblegum in the series, and Patience was a much better villain. I wonder how things would have been different if the season could conclude at its intended pace?
Marceline: My criticism with Marceline is a lot easier to summarise, because I’ve thought about her less and she’s less involved with the show.... which is the WHOLE PROBLEM!
1. Put Marceline in the show more. She was barely in the first six seasons at all! She’s such an awesome and fun character when they let her be. More eps like Go With Me would have been awesome.  Even more eps like Princess Day or Be Sweet, where she was LSP’s bestie.
2. Her character’s personality, for a long time, revolved around being a source of angst. She wasn’t demonstrating her fun side at all. I guess they didn’t want to write her continuing to be a big jerk, but it meant she paled when pitched against the rest of the cast - especially PB and Ice King, who were always great, and if they were in an ep with Marceline, their characters always outshone her. This could have been repaired by having her go on more adventures with Finn and Jake, and developing Marceline’s reactions to various situations. Give her more complexity.     I really love Obsidian because Marceline demonstrates her wild side in this ep and goes on an adventure which is very personal to her. She has some cool action scenes near the start, and this episode connects her more serious personality with the comedic representation at the start of the series. I think this is the best Marceline episode, followed by Varmints (she was so fun but mature in this ep). I like how she was during and after Stakes too. She had far more personality when they were putting her in eps with multiple other characters.
Ice King: I have no massive thoughts here. I think some of the things he did were a bit too messed up. He killed a bunch of cloud people and furniture in season 6. His actions before that point were far more innocuous, though he did accidentally kill PB those two times, and he did threaten to kill princesses after kidnapping them in season 1. I LOVE Ice King season 7 and up though. He’s so good. I was shocked at the finale when they “killed” him, had him revert into Simon with very few consequences, like all those years as Ice King had vanished. I was so glad to see Simon struggling with his past identity in Obsidian. “This is how I cope!”
Jake: Like the others barring Marceline, I thought that Jake occasionally did stuff that was too messed up. But because he’s a less serious character, who is already verging on chaotic good/neutral, it isn’t as impactful. I don’t have any major issues with Jake. Maybe I’ll change my mind on rewatch? But I love how he can be so self-contradictory.
Flame Princess: Last one I want to bring up. This character is a mess. Rebecca intended her to be this very innocent person, having new experiences. This was how she was characterised right through to Earth and Water, but after that episode, her character got... an unfortunate reset. Suddenly a mature and BORING ruler who barely appeared anymore in the show. I felt a lot more could have been done with Flame Princess, and they shouldn’t have made her so dull later on. They played her as a virtuous character who got over her breakup with maturity, and led her kingdom with honesty, to further the development of two entirely different characters rather than to make FP interesting in herself.

Ministers with and without Portfolios
Tumblr media
When you want to demonstrate your sincerity, you write a letter.
The summer is nearing its summit and 1982 is disappearing in a confused fog. Somewhere, Micheal Foot opens up an envelope. An ambitious young candidate, recently selected in some leafy suburb of London, has written to him. You can feel the youth in his writing - and, regrettably, a palpable eagerness to impress. Nevertheless, there are some admirable phrases:
Socialism ultimately must appeal to the better minds of the people. You cannot do that if you are tainted overmuch with a pragmatic period in power.
For men like Foot, members of a modern British tradition, politics and oratory are not separable. Even the timbre of your voice comes into it. On some cold picket-line, at some bored union congress, or against the baying of the other half of the House, you have to fill the air and rouse the spirits. In so many ways, the tradition of British socialism is a poetic tradition.
Maybe, then, he spots it a mile away. A lack of inspiration, the absence of a real perspective. That faint sense of pantomime. Or otherwise, Michael Foot, soon to be an ex-leader of the Labour Party, dimly registers the writer’s display of party-loyalty and just puts the letter aside. This man had crashed the party’s vote-share in Beaconsfield. Tony Blair is saving face.
X
Last Friday, it was announced that the constituency of Hartlepool would return its first Conservative MP in 62 years. Labour’s vote-share crashed by 16%. Perhaps most astonishingly, the Conservative victory in Hartlepool is only the second time in 40 years that a party in government has taken a seat from their opposition.
In immediate response, Leader of the Opposition Keir Starmer MP moved to reorganise the Labour Party’s campaign office. Importantly, Deputy Leader Angela Rayner MP was removed from her position as Chair of the Labour Party, the position ultimately responsible for election campaigns. As the Deputy Leader is elected separately, Starmer’s decision has been criticised as an attempt to undermine the influence of a senior elected official. However, as the days have passed, Rayner has emerged with a new position - or, more accurately, a few new positions. Angela Rayner MP now shadows Michael Gove MP as Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and occupies the newly-created, elegantly-titled office of Shadow Secretary for the Future of Work.
Former MP for Hartlepool and Minister without Portfolio under Tony Blair, Peter Mandelson has been named by sources within the party to Guardian columnist Owen Jones. According to Jones, Mandelson signed off the press strategy for Shadow Cabinet members following the result in his former constituency.
X
It’s raining in Stockport. The King Street bridge is abandoned. Looking at the slow river, she knows that she is a cliché, a tired punchline. And she knows that she’ll have to leave school. Other girls have done it, so she’ll get through it, too. But it’s an abrupt and unceremonious change to whatever path she was on before. 16 and pregnant. A joke. Then again, wasn’t this always the intended outcome, in one way or another? Cornered. It was going to be a long time before she understood that there was anything that could be done about that.
The wind takes a few of the leaflets out from under his armpit and scatters them all over the carpark of Oxted station. A favour, he thinks. It’s 8 in the morning, they’re all commuters. No-one’s taking them. As if some serious city lawyer is going to read about the future of proletarian resistance, let alone in a pamphlet handed to him by a spotty adolescent. East Surrey Young Socialists. He isn’t blind to the humour of that. Some preachy privately-educated Surrey boy. He had tried to explain that he’d gotten into Reigate fairly and squarely, that it’d only just started asking for fees in the last few years. Much to his chagrin, by the way. People around here don’t listen. If they did, they’d see that there was nothing to be scared of. But they’re closed off, rigid. It’s enough to make you want to pack it all in, honestly.
His father was staring out at the snow falling on the houses of Hampstead Garden in one of his attitudes of preparation. He had an abiding sense of danger, of impending calamity. Peter always attributed that to his religiosity. Eschatology. The End Times. “Have you compiled your application yet?” “Of course, Dad.” Peter knew the counterpoint melody. Your mother and I have worked too hard. He would say it like that because his mother is the real concerned party. Descendants of the Labour Party aristocracy are obsessed with elite education. He is pretty sure that he will get in. He’s clever, goes to a good grammar. And when he gets in, he is going to have fun, the sort of fun you can only have at a place like Oxford. Judgement Day is a long way off.
The Hampstead Garden Suburb was the brain-child of two idealist architects, Raymond Unwin and Barry Parker. The pair were disciples of the Arts and Crafts movement, an aesthetic philosophy with global reach that found particular purchase among British socialists; indeed, Unwin was a life-long and active member of various socialist organisations. Hampstead Garden was to be spacious, communal and open to all social classes. It was built on land purchased from Eton College by a wealthy patron. The Hampstead Garden Suburb Trust Ltd., established in 1906, executed Parker and Unwin’s designs.
Peter Mandelson was born in 1953 to an advertising manager and the daughter of Herbert Morrison, the Leader of the House of Commons under Clement Attlee. He was raised in the Hampstead Garden Suburb, attended a local grammar school and then, studied at Oxford. As a teenager, he was a member of the Young Communist League. At university, he joined the Oxford University Labour Club.
As a veteran in public relations by the time of Tony Blair’s bid for leadership of the Labour Party in 1994, Mandelson, distrusted by trade union representatives within the party, played his part in the successful campaign in near anonymity, being referred to by staff only as “Bobby”. In his acceptance speech, Blair used the moniker when expressing gratitude to his campaign team. After running Blair’s successful general election campaign a few years later, Mandelson was appointed to the office of Minister without Portfolio, allowing him to attend Cabinet meetings without having any formal obligations. Critics have likened it to a sinecure. In 1998, Mandelson resigned from government, having failed to declare dealings with millionaire Cabinet colleague, Geoffrey Robinson. He is now a peer, happy to be part of the club.
Oxted is an incredibly old town. When William the Conqueror ordered a survey in 1086, Oxted had its various assets - hides, churches, ploughs - recorded. It remained a sleepy time-capsule until it was reached by the new railway system in 1884 and run-off trade from London began to bring money into the town. At the beginning of the last decade, it was the twentieth richest town in Britain by income.
Born to a nurse and a toolmaker in 1962, Keir Starmer was named for the first parliamentary leader of what would become the Labour Party, Keir Hardie. He attended a grammar school and was the first in his family to graduate from university, obtaining an undergraduate degree in law from the University of Leeds. As a result, he undertook postgraduate study at Oxford and became a barrister in 1987. During this time, he edited Socialist Alternative, a controversial magazine associated with various factions on the Marxist left.
Starmer is a relatively green politician, having only been selected as a candidate for Holborn and St. Pancras in 2014. The majority of his life has been spent working in the legal system. In 2010, Starmer successfully prosecuted 3 Labour MPs and a Conservative peer on charges of false accounting. In 2011, he encouraged the rapid prosecution of several rioters, sometimes on the testimony of undercover police officers. In 2012, Starmer brought a case against former Energy Secretary Chris Huhne which resulted in the only resignation of a Cabinet Minister over legal proceedings in British parliamentary history. In 2020, as Leader of the Opposition, Starmer ordered Labour MPs to abstain on the third reading of the Covert Human Intelligence Sources Bill, which granted undercover police officers full legal immunity for all actions undertaken on duty. Desperate to be heard, Starmer re-tweeted a Guardian column by Angela Rayner MP, adding: ‘We’ll make sure you know Labour is on your side.’
Stockport lies just south-east of the City of Manchester at the point where the Rivers Tame and Goyt become the Mersey. Although bisected by the feudal borders of the counties Cheshire and Lancashire, it belongs to a different epoch. Stockport is a town with almost 300 years of industrial history, home to one of the first mechanised silk factories in the entire British Isles. Surveying all of England for his 1845 history ‘The Condition of the English Working Class’, Friedrich Engels remarked that Stockport was ‘renowned as one of the duskiest, smokiest holes’ to be found in the industrial heartlands.
By the time Angela Rayner was born on a Stockport council estate in 1980, the country seemed eager to be free of this history. This eagerness sometimes manifested as a disdain for trade unionists and benefit claimants. Both of Rayner’s parents were eligible for benefits. And at 31, Angela Rayner was a senior official for the public-sector union Unison.
Having left school at 16 to raise her first son, she got her GCSEs by studying part-time at Stockport College, where she eventually qualified as a social care worker. At work, she clashed with management, discovering a flair for negotiation that would get her elected as a union steward. Finally, after years and years of confusion and uncertainty, someone was being made to answer.

A Code of Conduct for a Smuggler Ship
This is a world-building piece I'm using in my own fan fic.  Our smugglers, pirates, rogues, and other non-aligned/independent ships do have rules and codes of conduct.  They wouldn't live by Imperial/Republic/Federation/Klingon/Fleet rules.  Whether in space or on the sea, they still have to co-exist with their crewmates and captain.  This is mostly compiled from historical pirate codes, Gibbs from NCIS (it works), and other real-life incidents.
This is crossposted to AO3.
Code of Conduct for Virtue’s Thief, under the command of
Captain Eva Corolastor
1.       The Captain’s responsibility is to the ship.  The ship is the crew, and the crew is the ship.  The Captain is to save the ship at any cost, including her own.
2.      The Captain is the first and final authority on Virtue’s Thief.
3.      Never screw over your Captain or your crewmates.
4.      All profit is disbursed evenly after the ship receives its share for maintenance. Private gambling, inheritance, and profits do not apply here.
5.      If someone is permanently injured, maimed or disabled in the service of Virtue’s Thief or her captain, they are to be pensioned off for the duration of their lives.
6.      The crew is entitled to a discount for services at the Captain’s discretion.
7.      Police your brass and cover your ass.
8.      Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean you’re wrong.
9.      Always announce your entrance into the cockpit or the Captain’s quarters; she is armed.
10.  Always carry a knife.
11.  Never drink the last of anything.
12.  No pets.
13.  No children.
14.  Nobody talks about VATs [Very Awful Thing(s)].
15.  Blood stays in the cargo bay; do not track it around the ship.  Remove your boots as needed.
16.  No fighting on the ship; settle your differences planetside.
17.  No sleeping naked.
18.  No shagging in the ship (exceptions to be granted by the Captain).
19.  All crew members will carry spare clean underwear in a waterproof bag at all times.
20.  Birthdays are to be celebrated.  Get over it.
 1.  This rule is included since my captain is a Good Gal.  She's a Chaotic Neutral Leaning Good.  If your Captain is not so inclined, you may wish to alter this to better suit how your Captain sees his or her crew and ship:  are the crewmen and crew-women expendable?  Is the ship itself a tool to be used and broken, or is it the Captain's beloved home?
2.  Many pirate codes have votes and other democratic devices so each man had their say, especially if their Captain sees them as tools or as useful rather than friends and family.   Because my captain is GG in Rule #1, Rule #2 is not democratic, but rather, an assertion of authority because of GG status; your Captain has to be a leader, not a doormat.  If your Captain is more ruthless, then you may want to counter-balance with a rule that gives the crew some veto power.
 3.  This is self-explanatory.   Ships have limited quarters, and it's in everyone's best interest not to hate each other.  Gibbs' Rule.
 4.  This is a pragmatic rule, as the ship does have to be maintained as the home for everyone, even if she is own by the Captain.  This could also go toward the upkeep of ship's droids, if you're operating in the Star Wars universe.  This is based in actual rules from historical pirate codes.
 5.  Another historical pirate code rule.  This one is very generous (Good Gal Captain).  Often, there would be a limit set or a delineation of what body parts are worth how much -- arms, eyes, and legs all have different value, and how much of you lost also matters.  In the modern world, we have this when claiming disability benefits, particularly for veterans.  This is an opportunity for you to discuss how your characters are valued by the Captain/ship.
 6.  Depending on how you set up your ship and crew rules and who decides what jobs to take, this rule can be very relevant or not relevant.  I use it as an opportunity to prove Captain's benevolence, but this can be used to build tension -- is this job worth it?  Are you actually going to pay us for this gig?
 7.   Gibbs' Rule(s), but highly pertinent.  Most non-aligned ships are non-aligned for a reason -- shady activities? troubled past?  "Police your brass" is a term for cleaning up one's spent casings so that you don't leave a trace or evidence you were there.  Covering your ass is a catch-all for making sure there are no loose ends.  This is the "don't bring trouble home" rule -- don't bring unwanted attention to the ship.
 8. Gibbs' Rule.  Even if you follow #7 to the hilt, this is still possible -- stay alert.
 9.  The Captain often has the most to lose.  This is typically their ship, and all troubles land on their desk.  They're the ones trying to lead people of questionable character -- there's a reason they're out on their own.  Depending on what the job is, they may be carrying strangers on their ship or there may be concerns of a boarding party.  This can be used to depict Captain's trust, but also Captain competence -- do you want someone who trusts everyone responsible for your safety?
10.  Gibbs' Rule, but interesting to utilize in space settings.  In modern/historical settings and military settings, you always carry a personal sidearm or two as a hold-out; knife and a single-shot pistol (especially 3-D printed) are useful.  In space, there's all this fancy tech, like blasters, lasers, phasers, vibroknives, and so on. A knife can cut air supply hoses, slice electronics, puncture life support suits, and all sorts of chaotic things that a "highly evolved society" wouldn't think of.
11.  My own creation -- I have a hard-drinking crew, and if you want to break Rule #3 in the worst way possible, this is it.  One thing I have headcanonned is that there were originally just 10 rules on the Thief.  The second 10 come as a result of people breaking the first 10 -- more specific rules for more idiotic behavior that the writer didn't anticipate.  In the words of my captain, "Can I preface that by saying the rules exist for reasons?  As in, someone screwed up, and after we all didn’t die, I made the rule?”
12.  and 13.  These are flexible, but you have to consider what type of operation your ship is running.  Is it derring-do and swashbuckling and a business venture?  Or is something else more akin to a family group?  Within the SWTOR universe, I've seen people keep their ships very businesslike, but the same crews in another fan fic are raising kids and have pets.  Totally fine.
14.   VATs are a sideline business that my Captain operates alongside her two female crewmates; the boys find what they do so distasteful, they try to ignore it as best they can.  In my universe, VATs are wetwork, assassinations, torture, extortion, espionage, information-brokering, and other morally questionable items that don't fall under the main purview of business on the ship.  Does your ship have anyone with a sideline?  It doesn't have to be as violent or dark as this.  Is it officially recognized?  To what extent?  Is it a secret?  Is there a rule against doing this sort of thing?
15.  Generally cleanliness reminder, but if you have this sort of a rule, you better show off why it's necessary.
16.  Historical pirate rule -- if you have beef, go settle on the shore.  Some codes get the quartermaster directly involved in fairly outfitting both parties and determining whether the matter is settled or if someone should get left behind at port for the good of the ship.
17.  This is for red alerts and making sure nobody wastes too much time trying to throw clothes on while trying to deal with a disaster.  It also ties into #18.
18.  Historically, pirates were not supposed to bring wenches on the ship.  First, there was a risk of someone being accidentally kidnapped if the ship left before critical personnel woke up after a night on the tiles.  Secondly, rape was a serious crime to pirates; the penalty was death.  I've seen in multiple pirate codes that boys and ladies were not to be brought aboard.  Some do allow for a guardian for these people so that they can remain on board until the next port, but those were special conditions in special circumstances.  Since I have a smuggler ship, it's egalitarian -- no sexy times for anyone onboard the ship.  Also, if you're busy getting busy, if there's an attack, well, it takes more time to untangle yourself than if you're by yourself.
19a.   This is a personal rule (IRL and in fan fic).  As I've been writing, I find that people's clothes getting trashed or messed up is a pretty regular thing.  However, it's made exponentially more tolerable by having a spare set of something dry.  If you plan on having characters get messy and want to move the plot along without dealing with the "uh oh, naked" thing (especially if there's a romantic/sexual tension), this isn't a bad rule to have around.  Granted, if you're writing PWP, make sure nobody has any spare anything.  Also, spare clean undies aren't just useful for the obvious; think of bandages, messages that could be sent while everyone else is "hurr durr"ing over panties, underwires that can be used for other purposes.  Basically, this is where you can put in your MacGuyver plot device -- make people carry some seemingly useless item around and then it's the Most Critical Thing to making some ad hoc plan work.
b.  Caveat:  Chekhov's Gun.  This the literary principle that you shouldn't put anything into your story unless it adds to the bigger plot: don't put a gun on stage unless it's going to fire.  So you can have a lot of funny business with your #19 (or any of these rules) but don't spend too much time on them.  Some of it might remain headcanon forever, which is fine. Remember that codes/rules are meant to help your ship function, not to bog it down unnecessarily.
20.  Personal rule. See 19b. Feel free to use these rules or variants thereof; just give me a mention @sullustangin or via AO3 (top of the page).

m, r, s, and t for revali !
M   :   MOONLIGHT.   what is your muse’s ideal date? where / who with / etc?
I don’t think he has a specific ideal, and could be impossibly happy with a lot of things. Sort of comes with his pragmatism, in a way.
He’s another strong contender for hot springs, because he lives like a pro athlete and to just sit still and have hot water work on muscle is heavenly, much moreso if he’s got interesting conversation in the meantime.
If his partner’s a Rito or has some other feasibly safe means of tagging along, he’s head over heels about flying stuff. There’s so much up there that gets overblown; he’s conflated pretty fairly with being up there for sport or combat, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a wealth of beauty he actively appreciates and wouldn’t mind showing off. Sunset flying? Soft oranges and purples and pinks? Cooling air after a hot day? C’mon. And with that comes either a ridiculous amount of showing off because he Has To Impress This Person, or a shockingly relaxed little flyabout with minimal conversation ( hard to hear without yelling up there ) and Lots Of Eye Contact he’ll deny later.
He gets dented up a lot ( as we see, even just training by himself is a fucking medical hazard ) and being on his own so much has a soft spot a MILE WIDE for being tended, so if anyone he was on good terms with or had an interest in took an afternoon to patch him up, he’d almost count it as a date? And a super successful one? Help him.
R   :   ROMANCE.   is your muse a romantic or a cynic?
He’s not quite either, in the most straightforward sense. He definitely, really does believe that bonds like that can be more beneficial to parties involved than nearly anything else, and he sincerely thinks it can happen - and in rare cases you really can just meet someone that’s right, but he’s also very, very realistic, and cautious to the point of coming off more cynical than he is.
He believes and is very serious about relationships and love being a choice and something you work toward, actively, as a unit, as opposed to some easy fairytale affair where nothing ever bothers you, Ever, and you’re never tested. Miss him with that, it lacks effort and depth. He’s In Love with Work, Dedication, Patience, the ability to look at your person at their absolute worst and shrug it off, because he’ll be at his worst next tuesday so who cares? If he looks at any pairing - even his own - and doesn’t get the impression it could endure actual strain, he’ll say as much out loud and to your face. He’s up front about things like that.
He’s got a serious belief in the emotions relating to romance, but he’s shockingly grounded in his expectations and a touch brusque about his opinions to such an extent most people would definitely assume he’s just dead cynical to the whole concept. Go figure.
S   :   SWEETHEART.   did your muse have a childhood sweetheart?
Insert non-committal wiggly hand gesture. He was a touch isolated as a kid, didn’t have anything by way of friends and little by way of acquaintance. So by the usual example where the sweethearts in question were particularly close for a semisubstantial period of time, not really.
That said, young-awkward-too-quiet-early-teen Revali had a grand total of two ( 2 ) puppy crushes:1 ) Scrawny and steely-eyed, unflappable lil Rito gal his age who didn’t like singing much and often ditched lessons to hang out with her parents, who were - I’m not sure what one calls constructs in Rito Village because the whole place is kind of just there, but they were builders who actually were the ones to construct what would eventually become Revali’s Landing. He just ran into her often enough and picked up more details at just the right pace he was….actively intrigued and a little too jazzed to speak with her. Had great book recommendations and prettiest irritated ‘please shut up’ eyes. Fell entirely out of contact when he tripled down on his craft.2 ) He used to enjoy ending summer training sessions with a lot of creative mindless tricks and then dive-bombing the lake, to swim until he’d cooled off enough to go eat and rest up, right? While doing that one day he was nearly shot out of the goddamn air by a hunter staying at the nearby stable ( accidentally of course; she’d been shooting at an average bird and had no means of seeing him coming because he moved so UNNECESSARILY fast and was at the time out of her line of vision ). He belly-flopped with a horrendous lack of grace ten yards short of the lake. He fired right up into a sort of prototype-rant, nowhere near his adult peak of pride, all how dare you and what are you thinking and to his complete shock, she immediately flipped it and proceeded to MERCILESSLY roast him for zooming around without warning you can’t showboat like that, but was just apologetic / he looked just pathetically beat up enough that she patched him up by way of apology. Roasted him, black sense of humor, a few years older than him ( and had spent nearly all of it traveling, so she had a few good anecdotes to share ) and skilled, hit the ‘please scold me but also gently help me Not Die’ weakness – guy didn’t stand a chance. Nothing serious, just a few days’ juvenile infatuation and he basically never saw her again. Alas.
T   :   TRUE LOVE.   does your muse believe in true love?
Like I said above, not in the easy at-first-sight kind, no.
But he does certainly believe everyone’s got a person, with whom falling in love, and maintaining and nurturing that love, will be more fruitful and successful than any other person. A unique match that will eventually result in a version of oneself vastly better for the influence, a power couple even if in a purely emotional sense.
What a secret work-hard softy.

If lee wrote otome #9 | Super! (II)
Summary:
Responsible, chill automechanic wakes up with superpowers that suspiciously resemble city’s top hero’s
Gets swept up into a secret corporation’s superhero support system, despite best efforts to live normal life
Love interests:
The perennial hostage (ex-journalist turned  exasperated microbrewer in attempt to stave off kidnappings)
The (ex-villain) butler (ex-supervillain, judgy and snarky)
The villain’s kid (total softie with a trigger temper)
The legacy (costume designer child of superheroes, no powers)
The golden hero (rescued her once, bit of an overly serious dork)
Supporting cast:
Mentor (badass lady hero whose city-saving sacrifice cost her powers, but not her skills and knowledge)
Mother (kinda flaky curtainmaker) & Stepmother (musical theatre nerd and owner of automechanic shop) & much younger little sibs (they want a dog)
Roomie (also arch-nemesis, but they do their dishes and pay rent on time)
Various villains & heroes
Context
Superpowers come in one of two ways - an epic, disastrous tragedy (explosions in abandoned factories, radioactive spills, bites from super-creatures, aliens) or genetics. When the heroine wakes up one day with superpowers, she really just wants to ignore them and go back to work, but she’s whisked off by the staff of a secret company designed to support superheroes and given a choice - learn how to control her powers, and pay back the company for her training, supplies, costumes, and support by working to save the world, dropping out and becoming a villain, or going home, risking exposure and damage and having to go into the super-powered protection program, leaving family and friends behind. Begrudgingly, she opts for the first option - but she’s not exactly putting a whole lot of effort into it. Or she wasn’t planning to, except the nature of her superpowers makes it impossible to avoid notice, and suddenly the city’s most well-known superhero takes a personal interest in raising her to follow in his footsteps.
Heroine
Automechanic who really just wants to build stuff, not save the world (especially if it means classwork) but hey, thanks for the spandex tights. Had to be the ‘adult’ for most of her life, until stepmother came into the picture in high school, but some habits are hard to break. Responsible and organized, but they’re learned traits - underneath is a bit of a slapdash wild child just waiting to explore. Got dragged into theatre a lot by her mother, and has a mixed relationship with theatrics as a result. Super chill, not particularly curious about stuff that isn’t in her exact wheelhouse of interests (work, family, video games). Definitely has a hero complex, it just has to be right in front of her face - ie, she won’t go prowl the streets looking for crimes to foil, but if she sees someone being profiled at a supermarket she’ll speak up. Not lazy, exactly, but also not super motivated. More interested in the villain’s motorcycle than their dramatic speech. Not one to agonize over the ethics of superhero-ing. They hit you, you hit back. You save the citizens, you hang the person who held them hostage from a flagpole, you go home and play video games.
Love interests
The Butler: Head of staff for the superhero billionaire who took heroine under their wing. A (barely) reformed supervillain (because the butler always does it aaahahaha) but either had powers taken away, just never uses them, or they are very very subtle, Heroine can’t tell. Didn’t lose the tendency towards snarky, jerkish banter. Makes no secret of the fact they think heroine can't hack it in the big leagues. Simultaneously takes care of every need (laundered supersuits, fresh juice with breakfast, chamomile before bed) and pokes at every sore spot with snark and side commentary. Very, very loyal to the hero they work for. Cocky, confident, but also very good at blending in and disappearing, which comes in handy for espionage sorts of things. Very lax stance on morality and ethics. Very strong stance on presentation, tidiness, and appropriate breakfast options (no cold pizza on his watch).
The (Designated) Hostage: Very first person heroine rescues - albeit somewhat inadvertently. Unfortunately, this leads to them being a pretty regular target for any villains passing through, which massively annoys them at first but after they work through the various stages of grief they end up on the acceptance side. Periodically manages to rescue themselves. Possibly becomes a villain in one of the routes out of spite. Initially works as a journalist, but quits in the hopes of dissuading villains and opens their own microbrewery instead--if they’re going to have to sit around waiting for the heroine to show up, they can at least have a beer while they wait, right? Has a fairly remarkable pain tolerance and high fear threshold at this point.
The Legacy: Child of two exceptional superheroes who was expected to do tremendous things - except they never manifested powers. Their little sibling did, and resentful of all the expectations set on Legacy, went off and became a supervillain so basically there is Serious Family Drama. For their part, legacy is honestly massively relieved not to have powers. Quiet, dreamy, bit of a flower-child but very sharp when they pay attention and focus. Because they know all about superheroes (and wanted to stay in the loop on little sib) they work for the superhero support system, designing costumes (their motto is ‘flattering, functional, bulletproof’). Has been around the company forever so they know everyone and everything. Fluctuates between practical (due to such longterm exposure to the way things are) and philosophical (which they’ve had to be to accept parents choosing heroics over family time).
The Villain’s Kid: Family Issues, Episode 2. As far as anyone knows, their villainous parent killed their heroic parent and is still serving consecutive life sentences for the aftermath (there’s more to it, but no one ever gets the villain’s side). Subsequently, there’s a lot of mistrust of VK, who is actually the sweetest, softest marshmallow around - though admittedly when you do manage to get their ire up, it gets nasty fast. Quietly confident in their identity, no matter how absent parents were (not totally their fault) or how much people expect them to be something else. Uses what could be incredibly destructive powers in a surprisingly effective, non-violent way most of the time. Likes to keep things simple and not overthink it (because then they start plotting and that’s, you know, frowned on).
The (other) Superhero: One of the heroes whose powers manifested via tragic explosion in their early teens. Ran around trying to save the world in a sweatshirt and Halloween mask until the superhero support system scooped them up and got them a real costume and some martial arts training. Genuinely a good person, trying to do their best to save everyone and everything, despite it kind of burning them out just from constant stream of demands and the fact they are incapable of treating people’s lives being at risk as routine. Same age as heroine (maybe a year younger) but has been doing this a lot longer - actually saved her once or twice back in the day. Civilian identity is a regular at the repair shop - heroine always assumed they were just a lousy driver, but it’s more that villains tend to destroy their ride as collateral damage. Kind of quiet, kind of dorky. Has one of the best track records for saving people, but doesn’t really know how to relax or wind down. Grizzled vet of the biz, though they’d be genuinely startled to be identified as such.
Supporting Cast
Roommate/Arch-nemesis: Always pays the rent on time, never leaves dishes in the sink, but also dons a mask and tries to take over the city at night at least twice a month. Still not the worst roomie heroine’s ever had. Plus, they have a dog so they can’t be that bad. Will literally leave in the middle of a dramatic confrontation to go let the dog out, too. Dramatic, but not psychotic. Unless you threaten the dog.
Mentor: Superhero “officially” retired from active duty on account of losing her superpowers during an act that saved millions of lives but that doesn’t stop her from pulling on the mask and using influence, technology, and sheer knowledge of tactics to even the playing field when her mentees are in over their heads--though she is also a big believer in trials by fire, and they’re all usually strong enough to survive a hospital stay or two, so they don’t count on her. SERIOUSLY pragmatic. Excellent strategist and longterm thinker - can match any supervillain in xanatos gambit capability except she keeps her cards close to her chest and her mouth shut so no one knows (least of all her mentee) until the chips fall. Believer in preparing for the worst at all times - which means putting her mentee through the worst because better it’s with her than with a supervillain who won’t take her to the medbay after. Doesn’t pull punches.
Mother: Very loving, very sweet, very flaky. Tries very hard to step up to the plate but just isn’t great at it - she does best when someone else can provide structure and guidance and she can just fill in the details. Super forgetful. Makes custom curtains, but also does tailoring, and used to make all of heroine’s halloween costumes. Still makes costumes for the local community theatre. Really wanted to be an actress, but can never remember lines, so nowadays is happy in the audience. Likes to create things, but doesn’t do well with deadlines. Determinedly defends small happinesses in a world where she is called frivolous for doing so - she maybe is a little, but it’s more  that she recognizes happiness is rare and special and so feels it should never be begrudged. Loves her kids, but isn’t the greatest at remembering details like doctor’s appointments or shoe sizes or school supplies.
Stepmother: Owner of the autorepair shop, frequent stage manager, director, and sometimes performer at the local community theatre - it’s a toss up whether she loves the stage or cars more. In general, she just likes seeing things come together. Likes lists and more importantly, checking things off of them. Heroine’s mother helps keep her spontaneous and gets her to explore new things. Came into heroine’s life when she was in high school, and they generally get along pretty well. There are occasionally awkward moments, but they both love Heroine’s mother and want her to be happy and that goes a long way.
Little Brother 1 (~9/10 ish): Long-suffering little brainiac. Sarcastic little snot, but only because he already worries about everything, which makes heroine super sad because he shouldn’t have to. Reader, and likes to show off new words he finds in books (doesn’t always pronounce them properly, but the family is so stoked to have a smart kid they are all for it anyway). Secretly really likes musicals but acts like he hates them because his parents will drag him to every audition on the planet otherwise and he likes watching them not participating. Likes to be on the fringes of things, offering commentary, but doesn’t like the spotlight or being in the center. Really wants a dog.
Little Brother 2: (~6/7ish) Hyper-curious chatterbox until he wears himself out and just wants to cuddle. ALSO wants a dog. Likes putting on family plays (though insists every time if they had a dog it could play XYZ role). Wants to be a professional soccer playing paleontologist most days. Doesn’t like being alone.
Little Sister (~4/5ish): UH TBD it’s been awhile since I had a niece/nephew in this range I forget what they are like >>;; slightly demanding? Also wants a dog because bros want a dog?

Little Brother 2: (~6/7ish) Hyper-curious chatterbox until he wears himself out and just wants to cuddle. ALSO wants a dog. Likes putting on family plays (though insists every time if they had a dog it could play XYZ role). Wants to be a professional soccer playing paleontologist most days. Doesn’t like being alone.
Little Sister (~4/5ish): UH TBD it’s been awhile since I had a niece/nephew in this range I forget what they are like >>;; slightly demanding? Also wants a dog because bros want a dog?

Been meaning to do some of these ever since I saw them ages ago, and since I’m now slipping back into DA mode, here we go, have a Gryff. Opted to chart her traits at 2 timepoints - prior to leaving her clan for the Conclave, and post-Trespasser, perhaps around ~9:45 Dragon. It was pretty neat to see her development laid out in a pictorial format. Some further discussion of her traits/development under the cut. [relationships chart]
template credit: Marian Churchland | art credit: @needlesslycryptic
[Hawke’s personality & choices chart] [Hawke’s relationships chart]
cautious/reckless - I think she was somewhere in the middle, because her guardian/defender instincts and tendency to be constantly on Watch for threats to her clan’s security quite neatly temper her high-offense, relatively reckless combat style and action-oriented nature. after the events of Trespasser, she dials her high-risk high-reward combat style back somewhat (relearning her body and adapting to fighting and life in general with a prosthesis), and in general is even more careful when it comes to planning out her next moves and who she trusts. Solas knows who she is and how she acts; she realizes she must adapt and alter how she operates if she is to stand a chance against him. this battlefield is a chessgame, not open honest warfare, and her opponent has the measure of her. her usual brute force and all-out approach will not serve her here, neither literally nor metaphorically.
selfless/self-serving - she puts her clan’s safety before her own, would die for them and the People without a second thought. happily even. this has always been her core motivation and raison d'etre. I don’t think this changes. perhaps it might be said that with the new threat looming on the horizon, she doubles down on this and is more dedicated to them than ever before.
emotion-driven/logic-driven - I don’t think she experienced much change here either. I’d say she leans a bit more towards the emotion-driven side of things. she tends to go with her gut and her core motivations originate from an ultimately emotional place (fear). overall though, it’s fairly nicely balanced out by her pragmatism and tactician’s mind.
forthright/dissembling - she used to be fairly blunt and plainspoken. if she felt a certain way or had a certain opinion, you’d know. in reaction to the revelations about the corruption and amount of spies within the Inquisition, she’s become more guarded and reserved in this regard, in an effort to avoid broadcasting her plans and intentions. she keeps her cards a lot closer to her chest now, and tends to keep her own counsel. in addition to this, in response to the shifting sands of the battlefield, and having taken on the mantle of Wycome’s Red Jenny, she has adopted the Vir Banal’ras. her efforts against Solas are now more like covert ops, guerilla warfare and sabotage, and involve assistance from the Friends and Marquise Briala’s spy network. basically, she’s taken a leaf out of Leliana’s book. she’s nowhere near Leliana’s skill level in this arena, not even remotely close. it’s not a case of changing classes - she’s had an attitude-shift.
friendly/unfriendly - Gryff was never a very warm person. even amongst her own clan, whom she loves dearly, she could be a reserved, serious or even prickly sort. her time with the Inquisition didn’t make her friendlier per se, and she’s much warmer and friendlier with her clan than she is among the Inquisition’s Inner Circle - the time with the Inquisition though did result in her cooperating with a bunch of different people (humans, a City Elf, a templar, a Qunari, etc). overall I think she’s become less friendly of late because she’s so consumed by the hunt for Solas.
devout/questioning - prior to learning the things she did during the course of Inquisition, she was fairly devout in her faith in the Creators, and a devotee of Elgar’nan. this is probably the biggest change she experiences during her arc (as notably she’s an Enneagram 6, and 6s - Loyalists - are the most loyal to their beliefs, and to ideas and systems; “even to the belief that all ideas or authorities should be questioned or defied. Indeed, not all Sixes go along with the status quo: their beliefs may be rebellious and anti-authoritarian, even revolutionary”). she now no longer believes in the Creators as literal gods, not in the way she did before anyway. it’s hard to explain. she rejects the Evanuris as false gods now, and doesn’t really have a place in her worldview for god figures anymore.
she’s invested in the World That Is and hoping and looking for a future for all modern elves that they can have and continue to build for themselves, in the current world. where once she was quite faithful (in or to the gods), she now questions most everything along those lines (in terms of divinity-related stuff, not Dalish culture or values, to be clear). also tied in here in a more general sense are some of the things explored under other traits in this post - she has always been a suspicious, cynical and wary person that anticipates problems, but she’s now more inclined to question the backgrounds and motives of everyone she encounters. Solas seems to have spies and agents everywhere, and the real enemy during her time with the Inquisition was beside her all along.
[this is not to say she’s no longer proudly Dalish. she is, even more so now, especially in the face of being told by ancient beings etc that how they do things is inferior, or wrong, or just a shadow of her past. she keeps her vallaslin (seeing them as part of her identity and something they have reclaimed), she still has a great and positive and healthy relationship with her clan, she’s still culturally Dalish. she still values, respects and practises, as before, her people’s way of living, including the cultural practises and most of the beliefs/ideas (e.g. the way of the Three Trees). she just doesn’t believe in the Evanuris as god figures anymore. she’s proud of how they live and happy in her identity, feels that they have reclaimed much. vallaslin are a good example of this: they mean something different to the Dalish now, here, in the present, and that’s valid, and they’re a part of their culture. the values and things the Creators embodied are also still of important meaning to her (like justice, knowledge, guidance, the hunt).]
trusting/suspicious - think this one is basically explained due to some overlap above. something that pains her unfortunately is that many of Solas’ agents seem to be elves. at it stands at the moment, she unfortunately can’t be sure whether who she’s speaking to can be trusted.

Teen Wolf Characters Sorted Into Hogwarts Houses | ScreenRant
Teen Wolf began as the story of a basketball-playing teenager turned werewolf in the 80s. MTV remade it with lacrosse for a new generation as a television series. The changes didn’t stop at the sport preference either. New supernatural creatures were introduced to the small town of Beacon Hills that kept the show going for several seasons.
One thing the series didn’t have? Magical beings like witches and wizards. If it had, maybe there would have been more questions about which characters would have sorted into which of Harry Potter’s Hogwarts houses. It’ll be no surprise to fans that a lot of the heroes, with their bravery and strict sense of morality, wind up sorted into Gryffindor.
RELATED: Teen Wolf: 10 Best Episodes, Ranked
10 Lydia Martin: Ravenclaw
Tumblr media
When Teen Wolf debuted, Lydia Martin appeared to be the stereotypical pretty and popular girl for a teen drama. Fans eventually learned she was anything but.
Lydia had a thing for science and math. Put a set of numbers in front of her, and she could work any problem. She masked her intelligence for a long time in order to maintain her popularity. Lydia, however, couldn’t stop herself from wanting to learn more. She joined the fight in the supernatural world of Beacon Hills primarily because she wanted to understand her own Banshee abilities. Like a true Ravenclaw, Lydia never stopped searching for answers to all of her questions.
9 Jackson Whittemore: Hufflepuff
Tumblr media
Hufflepuff might be a surprising sort for someone who once wanted to know where Scott McCall got “his juice.” Jackson, however, wasn’t necessarily interested in getting an unfair advantage, but in leveling the playing field.
The bulk of Jackson’s story on the show was that of a teenage boy struggling to figure out where he belonged. It wasn’t until Jackson became a werewolf and accepted who he was that he truly figured things out. His connection to the people closest to him, like Lydia, stopped him from becoming a mindless monster. Likewise, his connection to Beacon Hills kept him in the supernatural fight even while living in London. Loyalty was certainly important to him.
8 Theo Raeken: Slytherin
Tumblr media
Introduced late in the series, Theo was a great antagonist for the main cast of characters. He allied himself with Scott and his pack when he needed them, and fought them when he didn’t.
Theo’s greatest ambition was to have his own pack. He wanted what Scott had: a group of supernatural beings with unflinching loyalty to him. Unfortunately for Theo, his tendency to double-cross his allies meant loyalty didn’t come easily to those around him. As a Slytherin, his ambitions were nearly realized with the help of the Dread Doctors, but his own lust for power and fear of death got in the way. He lost his pack one by one.
7 Malia Tate: Gryffindor
Tumblr media
Malia’s fight or flight instinct overrode almost every other aspect of her personality on a regular basis. Living your formative years as a coyote instead of a little girl can do that to a person. As a result, she was braver than a lot of the other characters on the show.
Malia had to adjust to being a high school teenager fairly quickly. Deciding to live life as a human, and not take the easy route of staying a coyote, was pretty brave to begin with. Becoming a member of Scott’s pack, protecting Beacon Hills, and being one of the first to step into the fight made her a Gryffindor.

6 Stiles Stilinski: Ravenclaw
Tumblr media
The only Ravenclaw to make the list other than Lydia, Stiles narrowly misses out on being in Hufflepuff. His loyalty turned his friends into his family, and he didn’t know how to stop himself from working. Stiles, however, was also the person always looking for patterns and answers in the world around him.
For much of the series, it’s Stiles who put together the clues and figured out just what the teenagers were up against. Even when he’s stuck in a way station courtesy of the Wild Hunt, Stiles stayed aware, studying his surroundings, and finding a way out. Without Stiles’ logic and planning, the pack would have been doomed more than once on Teen Wolf.
5 Kira Yukimara: Gryffindor
Tumblr media
Introduced late to the pack, Kira quickly became a fan favorite. Though she didn’t get to stay in Beacon Hills long, Kira certainly made an impression.
Kira didn’t initially understand her supernatural abilities. She got used to the powers of the kitsune quickly, however. Kira became an ally of Scott and his friends just as quickly as she learned about her abilities. Always ready to jump into the fray to help someone else, Kira’s bravery, and her need to do the right thing, made her a Gryffindor.
4 Jordan Parrish: Hufflepuff
Tumblr media
Initially, Jordan Parrish was a bit difficult to pin down. He had supernatural abilities, but he didn’t know it. Instead, his abilities seemed to him to be more like sleepwalking. The hellhound, however, eventually learned about himself. Both his supernatural persona and his human one get sorted into Hufflepuff.
Parrish, as a deputy in the sheriff’s department, had loyalty to law and order. That loyalty got tested a lot, and he found himself more loyal to Sheriff Stilinski than he was to the rules and regulations that might not always make sense. His hellhound side, likewise, was loyal to the supernatural. As a hellhound, he protected the supernatural from being discovered, no matter what.

3 Derek Hale: Gryffindor
Tumblr media
Though Derek Hale was gruff and caustic when fans first met him, that attitude was mostly a mask for his anger at the hand life dealt him.Despite all of the tragedy that befell Derek as a kid, he still called Beacon Hills home and tried to help other supernatural creatures that lived there.
That might sound like a Hufflepuff, but Derek also happened to have a pretty big Gryffindor trait. He’s brave to a fault. Rather than use any pragmatic approach, he’d stubbornly hold out until the end, not asking for help, and trying to take the world on his shoulders.
2 Allison Argent: Hufflepuff
Tumblr media
Allison’s teenage years involved her learning how to use every weapon in her family’s arsenal - as well as escape from being tied to a chair. Despite being taught to be brave in a fight and to memorize a virtual encyclopedia of fighting skills, Allison was definitely a Hufflepuff.
Allison believed in fair fights, and in everyone getting a fair shot, no matter if they were a hunter, an average human, or a supernatural creature. That sense of fairness got her family to change their motto. She also had a fierce sense of loyalty. Allison protected her friends at all costs, and it certainly cost her in the end.
1 Scott McCall: Gryffindor
Tumblr media
Much like the alpha that turned him into a werewolf, Scott McCall was brave to a fault. That’s why he, too, ends up sorted into Gryffindor.
Scott went through some serious changes over the course of Teen Wolf. A normal kid who just wanted to get through high school, by the end of the series he was an alpha werewolf leading his own pack. He led by example. His bravery, his hero complex, and his need to make everyone see things his way made him fit right in with the ultimate Gryffindor, Harry Potter himself.

Memories (Someone We’ll Never Meet) pt.3
An accident, a meeting and a decision.
Destiny | The Reef | The Awoken | Zavala | Rahool | Ives | Tyra Karn | Various OCs | Impending Heartbreak | Gratuitous politics, poetry and philosophy
AO3 Link: http://archiveofourown.org/works/11388942/chapters/25503108
Sofia is ten years old and they are having a history lesson in school. Earlier in the morning, Papa had asked Sofia what she thought history is.
“It’s what happened in the past.”
“”No,” he replied in that serious way of his. “It’s the study of what people said happened in the past. Never forget that.”
They are studying Book One of the Maraid in class. It describes how the Awoken came to be, how the Reef was formed. Sofia thinks this is a strange place to start. She is fairly certain that History goes back a lot further than that, is has to. Papa’s poems are hundreds of years old, he said so. She decides not to say anything in class, mindful of her family’s private set of Rules. She will ask her parents about it later.
Sofia sits, elbows on her desk, chin in her hands. She’s pretending to listen to Ms. Sadler explain how Queen Mara saved them all from certain doom but instead, she is daydreaming about one of Papa’s poems, the one about the daffodils. It is a funny word. Daff-o-dil. Far too silly-sounding for such a pretty thing. At least, she imagines they are pretty. Ms. Sadler is droning on, something about Starlight and Darkness, while Sofia is fixated upon images of yellow flowers, blue skies and a carpet of green as far as the eye can see. Once she has the image fixed in her mind, she is loathe to let it go. It is so hard to properly visualise anything that is not in shades of blue, black or Royal Purple.
“Sofia?” Ms. Sadler’s voice cuts through Sofia’s reverie.
“Yes?”
What did I just say?”
Sofia has no idea. She was far too busy wandering in her head, lonely as a cloud.
“Uh,” she hazards a reasonable guess. “It was about Queen Mara?”
“No. If you’d been paying attention-”
Ms. Sadler is interrupted by a sudden rumble that seemingly reverberates throughout the whole station. Sofia grabs the edges of her desk to steady herself, expecting a shockwave to rock the little classroom. She feels vibration through her feet but nothing more.
“Stay in your seats.” Ms. Sadler heads towards a console behind her desk. She calls for silence as a ripple of chatter breaks out among the children. She frowns at a read out before announcing that class is dismissed and everyone is to return to their quarters and stay there until further notice. “Come along,” she says with forced brightness. “Quickly now, but no running. Two by two.”
The class pair off and file out in not quite as orderly a fashion as their teacher would have liked. Cries of “What’s going on?” and “Are we evacuating?” echo down the corridor.
“No one is evacuating, just…” She hesitates, as though she were unsure that she can project enough of an aura of calm. “There will be an announcement in due course.”
Sofia knows it is foolish to expect a straight answer from one of Them. She opts to get information from a source who is not programmed to lie. She spots a Frame standing at the end of the corridor. She breaks away from her classmates and and marches up to it.
“Frame? What caused the noise at fourteen-twenty hours?”
The robot swivels its head to face her. “Explosive decompression in Hangar Six.”
Sofia pales and just stares for a second or two. Mama and Papa are stationed in Hangar Six.
“Are my parents okay?” She quavers.
“Casualties reported. Identities unknown,” it replies in its maddeningly calm voice.
“Are my parents okay?” Sofia raises her voice. She knows she’s breaking the Rules here but she’s past caring. “My mother is flight engineer -”
Someone grabs her wrist before she can scream her parents’ names and ranks in this useless Frame’s stupid, oblong face.
“Sofie…” Marcus is pulling her back into line. “You’re not supposed to do that. Come on.” His lips are set in a thin line and he is frowning deeply. Sofia cannot believe he cares about the Rules at a time like this. She is ready to punch him again (and she would know how this time. Papa taught her). She is about to yell at him to let go when she notices that his mouth is curving distinctly downwards and his chin is wobbling.
“What’s wrong?”
“My dad’s in Hangar Six too.” There is a hitch in his breathing and his voice is strained.
Sofia puts aside her animosity and slips her hand into his. She can forgiving. “It’ll be okay.” She can be brave. “They do drills for this sort of thing.”
Marcus nods but his brows remain stubbornly knotted together . Sofia is not sure she believes it either but she feels strongly that someone should say it.
When Sofia arrives at her pod she gives Marcus’ hand a firm squeeze while saying, “It’ll be okay. It’ll be okay.”
Marcus nods and repeats the mantra. “It’ll be okay.” If they say if often enough, it will become true. He lets go of Sofia’s hand with some degree of reluctance and heads towards his own pod.
Sofia shuts the door and takes a seat at the table. Then she moves to the couch, perching on the edge. Then back to the table. She finally decamps to her bedroom. She grabs a stuffed rabbit toy off the shelf and curls into a foetal position on her little cot. She has told herself for the longest time that she is getting too old for the toy (what even is a rabbit, anyway?) but today, she clutches it to her as though her life depends on it. She stares across the expanse of the pod at the front door, waiting for some sign of movement. For all her grousing about how cramped the pod is, the thought of Mama and Papa never coming home again makes the place seem cavernous.
She glances at her chronometer periodically, each time expecting at least an hour to have gone by, only to see that the time has only advanced by a matter of minutes. She curls her fingers into her toy rabbit until her knuckles turn white, and her muscles start to ache from lying rigid and unmoving. After a seeming eternity, she hears the door seal pop and she springs back into a sitting position. She does not realise she has been holding her breath until the door finally opens and Mama walks through. Sofia exhales sharply before covering her mouth with her hand, stifling a sob. She does not remember running across the pod to meet her mother. One moment she is sitting on her bed, the next she is flinging her arms around Mama’s waist and sobbing into her coveralls.
Mama crouches down and to Sofia’s level and hugs her back just as fiercely. “Did someone tell you what happened?”
“I asked a Frame,” she whimpers in response. “Papa?” She asks, fearful of the answer.
“He’s out on patrol, he wasn’t there. He’s fine.” Mama insists she’s fine too but she is trembling, her hands are ice cold and she refuses every attempt Sofia makes to Link with her.
~*~
They pile into a cramped room in one of 10 Hygiea’s libraries. Sofia stares in wonder around the walls. They are covered in shelves which are packed with books, hard drives and engrams. She is dying to rifle through them but she is under strict instructions not to touch anything. Sofia turns her attention to the other people assembled. There are all sorts; Engineers like Mama, pilots like Papa, maintenance workers, archivists and even three Cryptarchs. Sofia stifles a giggle. Their bright yellow robes make them look like three intellectual daffodils.
Mama had not been sure if Sofia should have come to this meeting but Papa was adamant. “She’s old enough to understand. She deserves a say.”
Sofia can hear voices engaged in a spirited back and forth discussion but she finds it hard to follow the conversation with the crush of bodies obscuring her view of who is speaking. Papa eventually notices her standing on her tiptoes and craning her neck so he lifts her onto a library ladder. He holds her around her waist to steady her.
“Don’t fall.” Papa whispers, smiling. “You mother would have my hide.” Sofia smiles back, wraps her arms around his neck and grips his shoulder. She turns her attention back to the meeting. Two of the Cryptarchs are arguing.
“We have everything we need here. I see no sense in taking off into the unknown. We have defences, food, water -”
“Our material needs yes but-”
“What is more important than that, Rahool?” Counters the first Cryptarch. “This is a matter of survival.”
“I have no desire to live in a city of pigs,” The one called Rahool snaps back.
“Pigs? What are you talking about?”
“Oh read a book, Ives.”
Sofia frowns in puzzlement but Papa is smiling softly. She leans in to whisper, “What is he talking about?”
“He means there’s more to life than survival. There’s leisure, art, beauty. They’re important too.”
“Oh. I get that.” She nods until something else occurs to her. “What’s a pig?”
Papa shushes her gently, “Later.”
Another voice pipes up. “But he’s right though. Earth is dangerous, the Fallen -”
“The Fallen are manageable.” Papa does not raise his voice but somehow manages to cut through the hub-bub. “Besides, we should be uniting with Earth, not leaving the people there to their fate.”
“Well that’s very brave, very noble and perhaps rather too easy for someone in your position to say. We’re not all soldiers here.”
“If arguing from morality won’t convince you, very well. How about pragmatism? Earth has resources we could use, we have resources Earth could use. I see no advantage to this division.”
“We’re Awoken, we are not human,” that Cryptarch called Ives chimes in. “You may not see the sense in it but the division is there, whether you want it or not. Assuming we returned to Earth, there’s no guarantee they’d accept us.”
“We’re more alike than we are different,” Rahool steps into the fray again.
“And humankind has a long history of being accepting of difference,” Ives replies, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “Surely you of all people shouldn’t need a primer on that?”
“I like to think that we haven’t lost everything that the Golden Age gave us.” Rahool’s fists are clenched in front of him and his words are clipped.
“That’s just wishful thinking. You can hope Earth will be safe all you want but we know we’re safe here.”
“I lost eight members of my crew last week!” Mama isn’t yelling but she is not exactly calm either. Ives sits back in his chair a little, as though pushed back by the force of her words. “Two in the explosion, six got spaced. I was lucky I was hooked on, I’d have joined them if I hadn’t been. More than a dozen injured. Do not talk to me about safe.”
Sofia’s gaze drops to the floor. Marcus has not been in school since the accident. She thinks his father must have died. She did not much like him, from what she saw of him but she feels for Marcus. She hopes whatever happened to his father was quick. She does not want to think of the alternative. It’s too horrible.
Ives does not speak at first. He just looks at hands which are clasped in front of him. He will not look at Mama. Sofia does not blame him. When Mama and Papa stand shoulder to shoulder like this, she suspects the Darkness itself would think twice before taking them on. He eventually sighs and turns to Rahool.
“I can’t be a part of this, I’m sorry.” Ives’ voice is soft, like his words are directed only at Rahool. He stands and nods respectfully to the female Cryptarch. “Mistress Karn. I shall endeavour to keep the libraries in good order should you decide to leave.” He glances briefly at Rahool again before heading for the exit. Rahool goes to reach after him but this Mistress Karn shakes her head, lays a hand on his arm and gently lowers it back down. The room stays silent for a moment, as if everyone is unsure what to do now.
“What is our youngest attendee’s opinion?” The female Cryptarch fixes her gaze on Sofia. “After all, it is the young who will need to deal with the repercussions of what we decide here.”
Sofia freezes, acutely aware that dozens of pairs of eyes are suddenly trained on her. She glances at her parents for reassurance.
“Just say what you think, sweetheart.” Mama smiles encouragingly. “Don’t say what you think we want to hear. Be honest.”
“Uhm.” She coughs, then takes a deep breath. “The Fallen scare me. I think there could be lots of things about Earth that would scare me but…” She pauses to get her breath again. Her lungs seem too small all of a sudden. “The Reef is cramped. It’s dark. The water keeps getting turned off. And if anything goes wrong, people could die. At least on Earth, we wouldn’t have to worry about being sucked into space if we open the wrong door or flip the wrong switch. We wouldn’t run out of air if an engine broke down.” She takes another deep breath, feeling the words come more easily now. “And Earth has trees and rain and waterfalls and birds and clouds. And bowers. And daffodils. I want to see that. Don’t see why I shouldn’t get to just because I’m Awoken.”
Mistress Karn steeples her fingers and smiles softly. “If you were told you could leave for Earth would you go?”
Sofia knows she should probably take a moment to think before responding but she knows her answer. She has known it for two years now. “Yes.”
“And what if you were told that if you left, you could never come back?”
Sofia nods emphatically. “Still yes.”
She senses both her parents on the periphery of her mind, waiting for permission to enter. She opens her thoughts to them and is suddenly deluged with Mama and Papa’s pride in her. She wobbles on her ladder perch a little, knocked off-balance by this happy onslaught. She rights herself and smiles sheepishly, the colour rising in her cheeks.
“This is all well and good, Tyra,” Rahool is speaking again but far less stridently now. It is like he has lost much of the fight in him since Ives walked out, “but this entire discussion may be moot. We’re assuming the Queen will just let us leave, and there’s no guarantee of that.”
“I’ll speak with the Queen, leave her to me.” Mistress’ Karn’s voice remains calm and measured. Sofia suspects that there is very little that could faze her.
“What if she says no?” asks a young corsair. He looks agitated, scowling and fidgeting with his gloves. “Do we just roll over and accept that?”
“I doubt it would come to that, it wouldn’t be politically expedient for her. I know Mara Sov. She is many things but she is not stupid. She knows there would be resistance and she knows that would be damaging for her. Far better for her to appear magnanimous.”
“Resistance is a mild word for it,” the young corsair growls and folds his arms.
Sofia broadcasts ripples of fear to her still-Linked parents. What does he mean? Is there going to be fighting?
No sweetheart, Mama replies silently. It won’t come to that. You heard Tyra Karn.
But what if it does?
Then Papa is in her head, calm and resolute. I’ll protect you, Starshine. I’ll always protect you, never doubt that.
~*~ Notes: If anyone is curious, the book Rahool is imploring Ives to read is Plato’s Republic. And I never expected to end up shipping those two but here we are.

Hi! Big fan of you cfau fic! Was just wondering if you have any detailed descriptions of the clexa apartment? How many bedrooms, which kids share rooms, if they have bunkbeds, which room was originally the nursery, do they share a backyard/pool/common area with the rest of the building, how big is Lexa's office, does Clarke have her own studio inside the apartment.. from what I can imagine, it seems massive and hella expensive? Thank you for your time ❤
Hey! Sorry that I didn’t have a chance to reply to this yesterday. Yes, I obviously know exactly what this apartment looks like. I actually have a pretty clear layout of it in my head, but seeing as I can’t draw and I’m not an architect who can do it digitally either then pictures will have to do.
I’m approaching this as I would if I was having this conversation with my production designer, set dresser, art director, and prop master for one of my films. I’m going to pull up references with the caveat that each individually aren’t exactly The Look, but if you take pieces from all of them and add a few original touches then you can kind of figure out what these sets are like in my head.
APARTMENT BASICS
The apartment is fairly big. 6 bedrooms (1 master bedroom, 4 for the kids, and the other one is Lexa’s office) and there is a back room/laundry room thing by the kitchen that Clarke also uses as her home studio. That one is not huge, but it does the job. If she has bigger commissions for paintings or the rare sculpting/installations she does, then she has tons of artist connections and friends that let her use their bigger studio spaces as needed.
How can they afford this in New York?
Clarke’s family has never been Rich, but they’ve always been well off. On top of that, Clarke was the person named in Jake’s life insurance policy and his sole heir. All of that was in a trust until she was 21. Lexa was already around by that time and if there is someone who is stingy and good with money it’s Lexa Woods. Lexa, being the perennially responsible one, insisted Clarke was careful with that cash. They got a professional to manage that money and do some investments for them. They live in New York after all and no city has a surplus of finance guys like NYC. They never touched any of the money and on top of that saved for like five years before they decided to become homeowners. Between all the money/assets Clarke inherited, plus Jake’s life insurance, plus their savings, plus the fact that Clarke makes GOOD money working at the gallery not only selling her own stuff but being Dante’s main art dealer, they were in a pretty comfortable place when it came down to actually buying an apartment. Knowing that Clarke also sells a considerable amount of pieces through commissions for the private clients she has, Lexa sort of gave in when Clarke insisted they splurge and get a really fucking nice place. They were buying. It was their forever home, so why not go all out? That was Clarke’s sell.
Keep in mind though that Clarke and Lexa have always had starkly different approaches to money. Lexa grew up poor and logically she’s very careful with it. Lexa’s not like a cheapass, but she’s very measured and pragmatic about managing money and finances. Typical Lexa. Lexa is also a public servant. She isn’t getting rich out of working in the DAs office. Lexa could go work at any of the private firms that try to reel her in constantly and make as much as what Clarke makes (if not more), but Lexa loves what she does where she does it so she pays no mind to the fact that Clarke’s checks put hers to serious shame. Clarke can make as much as Lexa does in a year if she has a good couple of months worth of sales commissions at the gallery. Easily. It actually happens more than anyone would think. Because of how she grew up and because she knows she’s in a very comfortable place at the gallery and her career in general, Clarke sometimes borders on reckless when it comes to spending. Just another way in which Clarke and Lexa balance each other out.
So yeah, it took a lot of convincing, but they had the money to put a really nice amount up front which meant the mortgage wasn’t going to be outrageous. Lexa also made Clarke promise that if there were some good sales of her work throughout the year it was all going to the mortgage just so they could pay it off sooner and get it off their plate. Clarke agreed and they started looking for places in the best parts of Manhattan. They found one they both fell in love with and they bought it. They didn’t move into the new place until Anya was around eleven months old. The apartment was paid off around the same time Costia left for college, meaning they kept to their plan and got done with that in less than half of the 30 years their mortgage was for.
COMMON AREAS
The apartment has the typical Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen areas plus Lexa’s office.
Lexa really couldn’t care less about furniture or what pillow goes with what couch so Clarke obviously takes point on all the styling/interior design/decoration of the place. She only really has two parameters: not too many colors because Lexa really is a fan of simplicity and to not make Lexa cry with the number of zeroes on things. More than once Lexa has been known to utter “That chair cost HOW MUCH?!!!” to which Clarke usually has a “Don’t worry. The designer is a friend. He’ll give it to us for half.” reply all ready to be fired. And Lexa has an aneurysm because “Half is still more than I make in a month, Clarke!”. Sometimes it takes a little smooth talking (and by that I mean Clarke asking while they’re having sex) but Clarke always gets the things she wants.
Clarke tends to keep the furniture and the walls pretty neutral. Where the bursts of color come in is in the art she picks for the apartment. The walls are covered with really strikingly vibrant pieces that make every room rich and feel thoroughly alive.
Here are some references for what I see the Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, and Lexa’s office looking like:

BEDROOMS
CLARKE & LEXA
Like I said, Lexa is a fan of minimal and clean. In the chapter where Clarke wakes up in her bedroom after they have sex for the first time I believe I described Lexa’s bedroom as “monochromatic” and that is so accurate for Lexa. She’s a fan of white, black, greys, and browns. Unless Clarke is the one who buys her something, Lexa would stick to wearing those colors exclusively. That translates pretty clearly to the decor around the house, but specially their bedroom. Clarke knew she could go crazy anywhere else, but she would give Lexa the simple black and white bedroom.
Tumblr media
There may be a pop of color with a piece of art or a new duvet or something, but overall, Clarke keeps it pretty sleek and minimal.
THE KIDS
Clarke spends A LOT of time making sure each of the kids gets the room they want. They all have some sort of mural or intricate wall design that Clarke spent hours doing specifically for them.
Costia
Costia’s room is all about music. It has a lot of personality even though it doesn’t have a lot of color except for the collage wall that her and Clarke put together. Being Lexa’s mini me as she is, Costia is really into greys and whites and black. She doesn’t necessarily stick to them when it comes to her wardrobe, but her room has always been fairly muted in regards to furniture, bed dressings, and general decor.
Anya
Anya is OBSESSED with neon. To like a crazy and absurd degree. She’s also an Aesthetic Hoe so her room is probably the most unique one. They let her put neon signs all over her room and Clarke painted a mural with glowing UV paint on her walls so during the daytime or if the blinds are open her walls look plain and white, but once the lights go off they turn into this crazy ridiculous thing and Anya adores every bit of it. Needless to say, the sun doesn’t shine much in that room because she keeps those blinds closed as often as possible.
Jake
Jake’s room was about baseball. They got him a custom made bed frame and custom made furniture to fit the theme. His is probably the room that had the most external influences because everyone got stuff that was already made for their furniture but Jake’s was unique. All Clarke did there was the mural.
Roa
Roa’s room is worthy of a kid with her imagination. It’s bright and colorful and fun. It’s also about her favorite thing in the world: The Lion King. Clarke paints murals on each wall AND on the furniture to make every single thing in there jungle themed.
Tumblr media
Aden
Jake’s room eventually turns into Aden’s nursery. Clarke keeps it pretty simple yet classy blue and grey for the little dude.
Tumblr media
I think that should cover all of it??? Hopefully I touched on all the info you requested and that this helps picture the living spaces better! We spend a lot of the story here after all. :)

⚠ ☘ trish, ☆ ⌚ heather m, 🏨 ❤ heather c
trish ;
⚠ : How does your muse react to possibly dangerous situations? Do they face them head-on, or do they plan out their actions first?
trish is resourceful and pragmatic and better at taking the rational approach than... well, a lot of people in her canon,  but she’s also way more reckless than she herself would like to admit. because while she’s good at being all of the aforementioned things, she’s good at being them at a distance.
but then she has these like, panic reactions to sort through when it comes to fight or flight situations (and given how she has this thing about not wanting to ever be a victim again, she usually goes with ‘fight’) and she’s even more of a fucking disaster if she thinks innocent people might be in danger or... even worse, someone she loves.
she is more than a little too headstrong and insistent when it comes to playing the hero and that absolutely tends to blind her sometimes.
☘ : Does your muse believe in luck? How about fate?
she might casually/sort of jokingly believe in luck in that way that people do when they don’t put a whole lot of stock into it, but i think she has much more vehement views on fate. which is to say she loathes the concept of it and would probably not get along well with anyone who put it on too high a pedestal -- like, she’s an abuse survivor, the most important person in her life is also an abuse survivor, and even those two things aside it’s like. she’s seen a lot of horrible things happen to other people? she’s seen a lot of needless suffering. she’s seen a lot of actual evil, because i don’t think that’s too strong of a word for the things kilgrave does.
if someone tried to tell her all of that was predestined or that it “all happened for a reason” she’d probably wanna punch them in the face tbh. because she’s also seen people survive and get stronger and recover and support each other, but all of that was through their actions and choices, and she strongly believes that crediting that to anything else is insulting.
heather m ;
☆ : Of the sun, stars, and the moon, which is your muse’s favorite?
cursed affiliations aside, i think heather would favor the sun if only because like... she’s not really a night person. she’s had enough of gloom and darkness to last her a lifetime;  she finds it comforting to do things during the day when the world is alive and there are people around and things are just... brighter. the warmth and ferocity and burning kind of emotion associated with the sun are things i think work better for her too, rather than like... the cool and elusive distance of the moon or stars.
⌚ : Is your muse good with keeping on schedule for meetings, appointments, or events, or are they always late? Or, are they always a bit early?
she’s kind of got that Typical Teenage Slacker quality, at least outwardly -- she’s not absurdly bad with time but she also never wants to seem like she’s rushing, so typically she’ll arrive just a little bit late to things. fashionably late, you could say.
that being said she does actually take god squad work pretty seriously when she’s involved, so she’s a lot more consistently prompt to things pertaining to that. she can be pretty swift and punctual, she just has to be invested beyond her usual state of mild teenage apathy.
also [arrives 17 years late to silent hill with starbucks]
heather c ;
🏨  : How well does your muse sleep?
she’s a suspiciously still but also light sleeper -- nowadays she has to deal with a lot of pretty gruesome recurring dreams about not being able to breathe (which is a subconscious thing but is... fairly easy to figure out) or even more graphic flashbacks. she can’t always remember them after she wakes up, but they definitely put her on edge, so she likes to put it going to bed at night for as long as possible. it’s part of the reason she stays up so late, which of course means she’s prone to being more tired in the day...
which then results in her finding places to sprawl out and sleep where she probably shouldn’t (no wonder her daemon is a cat).
❤ : What are your muse’s thoughts on love? If they are not in a relationship, do they believe that they will ever find a perfect someone for them?
ew gross who would ever fall in love?? horrible idea,
i joke but that is kind of close to her actual thoughts on the matter. she’s been with a lot of guys but she always makes a point of not doing steady relationships, and she’s used to limiting herself to thinking within those terms. being more serious about it is a bad idea because of her fucked up, westerburg-tinged way of thinking that it gives someone else too much power over her.
i think Also there’s the fact that she’s only... not only has she only been with guys, but she’s only been with a very particular type of guy, and has normalized the way they treat her even when it makes her uncomfortable so it’s like “...well i’m not really into this so i must not be into romantic relationships in general”
having very real feelings for someone would actually be a pretty scary and confusing thing for her to acknowledge so, well..................... good luck with that on denny, heather

Needlessly complicating throwaway AUs, part 20x6
I mean I never figured out in the Jupiter First AU where I wanted Endymion to show up (if at all) besides ‘I guess too late during Classic to get involved’. But what if it was about much later.
Hypothetically.
Endymion/Mamoru/TM stuck in the post-DK times, arc resolved, crystal found, etc. Still occasionally running around as Tuxedo Mask for.. some reason, the itch they need to find something. And explain those dreams. Menawhile, Neptune chases a daimon attacking some goofball in a Tuxedo. Hah, a Hoste-hunting daimon finds a Host. The quip goes unappreciated by the empty air. She saves this... person, but rather than running, something feels off. Something familiar. Maybe a bare handshake, maybe a dropped mirror picked up like in another universe, and it clicks what (but not who) both of them are. Neptune hasn’t been doing this long enough to become really guarded yet, so they open up to each other. (They tend to be friends of a sort in a lot of universes.)
The dreams are so fuzzy at this point its hard to tell. Would both have dreams of looking for someone of unusual and mysterious power? Where something bad will happen if they don’t?  Something about a horrible dark force that ruined/killed everything and a big horror born from chaos? Broadly speaking, yes, they both dream something like that.
Do you see things too? How interesting.
Chiba has no Rei or Setsuna to open up to at this point, so weird psychic kids gotta bond where they can.
Hey what’s your home life like? FUCK DONT GET ME STARTED.
Chiba seems to think... well, this person is kind of princess-y, right? Maybe it was her past self that sent them on this mission? Neptune has the nagging feeling she should be looking for someone... else. But having so rarely interacted with Uranus in the past, she doesn’t have a clear memory of that. But she has no memory of THIS person, either. And, frankly, its one less bruise she has to take. Healing abilities, eh?
How interesting.
This Chiba person is intelligent and pragmatic, and seems dedicated despite... well, being well out of their league and fairly ridiculous. And Tux feels something vaguely comforting being around whatever a Sailor Soldier is. No, Chiba admits, they don’t have a talisman. Well, Kaio says, you keep dreaming about needing to find some... crystal was, it?... maybe that’s it. You’ll get it eventually when we find that girl, perhaps.
Meanwhile, Haruka is just having the shittest day. Still furious at Setsuna leaving her and the other five girls out of nowhere. Having to deal with comforting Usagi. Butting heads with Rei because holy shit when she’s in a bad mood everyone has to know it, am I right? And now Mina is acting weird and noncommital like she’s hiding something.
Haruka gets the phonecall in Setsuna’s typical infuriatingly calm voice. Go over to her place for some new info. Alone. She does, and there’s Setsuna. But also a rather serious but very pretty girl in expensive clothes and... did Setsuna get a housekeeper? Or is it the pretty girl’s butler? It takes all three to convince Haruka about a particular Mission and her role in it, since a Haruka raised in the comfort of the inner senshi’s love might otherwise have walked out the door.
Chiba drifts into a support role, which suits them fine. It’s not quite a typical team anyway. But they help make the hard knocks less hard, especially that time they healed the nasty gash on Neptune’s arm before it got bad. Chiba’s also perceptive enough to catch Haruka’s long glances at Michiru to, apropro of nothing, casually drop their “dream princess” story Haruka kept asking about is probably a metaphor. Chiba isn’t actually interested in her. Just saying.
Hey did you know Kaioh loves that one seafood place by the park, I bet she’d love if you took her.
Not that Haruka needs the help in that regard, she’d insist, but it gets this weirdo on her side.
The Inner Senshi are not happy with Haruka, for what she goes and does.
Haruka is not quite happy with Setsuna or Minako, for not telling her more about Uranus before.
Setsuna is worried no one is going to be happy with her, including Chiba once she finds out what they are.
Minako is really, really, REALLY not going to be happy with Mamoru.
