i so badly want one of those fic examinations of steve's relationship with joyce and hopper but solely through eddie's pov like hear me out
steve and eddie chat a lot in the upside down (and later in the hospital, when they learn hop is alive). steve has taken charge of filling eddie in on the rest of their of-age crew without the kids butting in. he never mentions his own parents, but he talks about the rest of the party's a lot, especially joyce and hopper. eddie knows what it's like to desperately want someone to be your parent and trying to hide it from his own childhood, when he would try to be cool about wayne dropping him off at his dad's house. steve obviously adores joyce and hopper, thinks the world of them and legitimately looks up to them.
eddie isn't sure what he expects from a cop who came back to life and the world's most determined housewife, but he's excited to meet them as someone steve loves.
cue eddie's horror when he realizes that neither of them really feel much for steve rather than annoyance and vague distrust. that joyce trusts will with eddie, an accused murderer, in a heartbeat and still hesitates to leave him with steve. that hopper brushes off every ounce of steve's hero worship and joy.
he tries to broach the topic with steve, gently, and is heartbroken when steve genuinely has no idea what he's talking about. and not because he's oblivious, but because steve thinks that's what he deserves. he thinks that's the parental love that someone who was an asshole in high school needs, because that's what would make him a good person. he needs people to call him out constantly, obviously, because why else would they keep doing it? why would nancy? at least they're here. at least they're not ignoring him. at least they're not forcing him into a box. they just want him to be better.
like, this is the man who thanked a girl for calling him bullshit and telling him she never loved him. he doesn't Know that's not how you're supposed to handle things. no one ever taught him that.
and now eddie's gotta figure out how he can teach steve how to be loved the right way without outing himself and his huge crush on his love-starved dork of a friend.

I'm still jumping between wips so here's another snippet of the cheating fic, this time a bit of Buck and Taylor arguing - I can't explain how much fun I'm having with this fic, this is so not my usual thing but it's just so fun haha
prev snippet
___
“Can we do this tomorrow?” he asks, bringing his hand to squeeze the bridge of his nose. He’s getting a headache.
“No, we’re doing this now. Tell me what’s up.” she says, pulling at the covers when he tries to cover himself and turn away again.
“Jesus, Taylor, let it go. I’m fine. And it’s none of your business.” he snaps, pulling at the duvet a little harder.
“Fine.” he hears rustling, then the bed shifting. She got up. The light on her nightstand is still on. “I thought since we’re together, and live together, we’re pretty serious, and now you’re weird around me, and you don’t even touch me, so I thought it was my business, but clearly I was wrong.” she talks as she walks up to his- their closet and starts getting dressed. Now Buck looks at her, leaning up on his elbows.
“What are you doing?” he asks with a sigh, watching as she takes off her nightshirt and starts putting on jeans. “Where are you going?”
“None of your business.” she replies, her tone feeling like a slap in the face. Buck deserves the real thing, actually.

thinking about a no upside down au steddie fic where steve and eddie run into each other years after moving away from hawkins, and eddie remembers steve and his fall from grace as king, and is kind of intrigued to see what kind of person he is now
and steve doesn’t remember him at all at first, because, look, eddie changed his hair again, and steve’s had a few head injuries (no upside down but i imagine he still went thru some shit with the party and with robin), and he didn’t really think about eddie in high school anyway, and he’s trying to forget about hawkins as much as possible (besides the kiddos, but they’re all moved out for college now, anyway) (obviously he lives with robin)
but steve is different now, happier, more open, flirts with guys, flirts with EDDIE, and eddie….. well, he wants to know more! and he tells steve he knows him from hawkins, and steve’s sunny little smile flickers a little, but he just apologizes for not remembering him and mentions he has some memory problems
and they get to know each other, and eventually as eddie tells him more (and maybe with the help of some yearbooks) steve remembers eddie. and. well. they like getting to know each other. and they like each other. and then they get together
eventually they’ve been together for a while, and eddie thinks he wants to maybe introduce steve to wayne, and he mentions he’s going to go back to hawkins for a long weekend (as he’s done a couple times) and this time he’d like steve to join him
and again steve’s sunny smile flickers a bit, but he says he’d love to meet eddie’s uncle, and… they go to hawkins. and it goes well— meeting wayne, at least, but steve seems a little on edge the whole time they’re there, tense when they drive in, fidgety when they go to the grocery store, et cetera. eddie thinks maybe steve is nervous about staying with the man who raised eddie, which is ridiculous, because wayne LOVES steve.
it’s not til they leave the town altogether that steve relaxes, and eddie realizes it wasn’t “meeting the parents” but rather going back to hawkins. and speaking of meeting the parents, steve didn’t ever bring his own up, even though eddie knew they still lived in hawkins. and the way steve glanced around whenever they went in public, like he was scared of getting recognized
and he asks about it, and steve doesn’t really want to talk about it, but he gives eddie snippets of it. people he wanted to leave behind in hawkins, memories that resurfaced, things he wants to forget
eddie goes back to see wayne sometimes, and the first time he doesn’t know whether to ask steve to come, so he just mentions he’s thinking about going to hawkins for some weekend and steve immediately starts making plans with him as if the invite is implicit. they go back to hawkins several more times, steve still tense and pent up the whole time they’re there
over time steve reveals more and more to eddie. everything that made hawkins hell for him, from the things he himself did in high school to the things people did to him. stuff tommy and carol and billy said to him. some of it is just typical high school bullshit (and oh, the nancy thing.) some of it is the tragedies steve went through, the horrors he had to protect his kids from. the injuries he sustained. more generally the homophobia that permeated the whole town, keeping steve from being himself. the lack of support in the indiana public school system for a high school senior who’s had two concussions and gone through incredible trauma.
his parents. the reason why steve’s mail is addressed to ‘steve buckley’ now, not ‘steve harrington’.
(that doesn’t come out until much, much later, and eddie is kicking himself for ever suggesting steve come back to hawkins.)
eddie, who hardly had an easy time of it in hawkins, is absolutely blown away by what steve had gone through in the same town, right under his nose. the entire persona that steve was trying to leave behind — the cool as a cucumber, unaffected, douchey mask he wore to hide all that he had endured. the head injuries. the emotional tragedies he had gone through. the way he had to be the rock for the kids even as he went through the same things as them.
he tries to tell steve they never have to go back to hawkins again, and steve is having none of it. he tells steve wayne can come visit them in their new city, and steve thinks that’s completely unfair to the man who had raised eddie, seriously, you’re going to make him come all the way up here?
and well i don’t know exactly what the ending is but steve is so stubborn about trying to love hawkins because it was eddie’s home and he wants to be able to go see wayne because wayne deserves to see his kid and eddie deserves to see his uncle and steve doesn’t want to be the problem :(
#steddie#stranger things#this isn’t very fleshed out but just. hawkins as an incredibly scarring place for steve#something built up in his mind as a very dangerous place for him not just because of what happened there but who he had to be there#i think ultimately it would culminate in them going back to hawkins and running into steve’s parents when they least expect it#and steve gets to yell at them in public and tell them they suck and ruin their image and eddie is being his little guard dog next to him#baring his teeth#for the no upside down part of the au i think it would have to be like. nebulous tragedy of season 1 struck them#barb still died (sorry barb) so that his relationship with nancy falls apart. will and el are twins and they disappear the same night#steve knows the kids earlier in the timeline in this one and has already basically adopted them when will and el go missing#eddie was never the victim of a massive witch hunt but jason still harasses him during his third senior year and gets ppl to gang up on him#so he was never like Wanted by all of hawkins and can never return but he sure doesn’t feel welcome there besides w wayne#oh i also think it would be important that one of the trips steve snaps at eddie bc he’s so strung out and immediately regrets it#and takes it as proof that when in hawkins Steve Is A Bad Person and tries to explain this to eddie#eddie meanwhile is trying to convince steve that he’s not a bad person and that he was being mean because he’s completely stressed out#and he wouldn’t be so stressed out if he didn’t make himself come back to hawkins#anyway ultimately. steve realized hawkins is just a place where bad things happened. it is not a place that makes people (including himself)#bad. it’s just. a place. and steve did not grow and change for the better bc he got out of hawkins. he got better bc he put the effort in#god i just. love steve so much and the version of him in my mind is so much better developed than what the duffers are doing

Honestly, I'm just waiting the Eddiesol relationship to be the breaking point for Chris and he goes off on Eddie about all his past relationships and how annoyed and tired he is of his current one:
Eddie: Chris, why are you so adamant on not getting to know Marisol?
Chris: Why are YOU so adamant on trying to find me a new mom?!

Your style is so beautiful!!!
I love how you draw Eddie/Venom, he looks very handsome! I don't know why you paired them with Miguel but I love seeing them together. They look so cute the three of them!!!! Now I need to read fanfics of the couple
(I use translator to speak English, sorry if there are some things that are mistranslated)
Wah Thank you for the kind words! 💕
Tumblr media
I'm glad you like my Eddie design! I made him after I came up with Venom's design. I wanted him to have more of a snarky jock vibe
As for why I ship them with Miguel well 😅 They're all my favorites! I've been a long time fan of Venom, Miguel O'Hara is the newest favorite. This ship is actually super fun for me as I get to draw them both all the time.
Tumblr media
If you manage to find ANY fics of them pls do send me some 😂 I haven't found any myself.

omg omg i agree, eddie snapping at buck in a moment of stress concerning chris would be believable as a parental reaction and believable as something that would hit buck’s insecurities hard
YES, because here's the thing, Eddie's concern would be Christopher, 100%, but let's say it is Buck's fault, Buck himself would be panicking because he hurt Chris and Eddie would NOT react to calm Buck down, he would ask for space to make sure Chris is okay. He would snap some form of "Buck, I got it!" or "Buck, just give us some space!" because he is a parent and he is EXTREMELY protective of Chris and Buck would take that as Eddie blaming him, not Eddie focusing on Chris. And it would hit every insecurity ever, even more, if we consider that Chris is a teenager now, so he could be moody and react poorly to Buck initially, because it is a stressful situation for everyone involved, and Buck would absolutely interpret that as them asking for space permanently. Dude tried to take the blame for a tsunami, if this man is directly responsible for something that hurts Chris in any way, he would take himself out of the situation.

What’s up with the ties between Sally & Eddie?
There are quite a few - to the point where I’m starting to suspect that they may be foils, or at least inherently tied together in the story.
First let's bring things back to the clocks. The “day” side has an obvious resemblance to Sally, like how the “night” side resembles Eddie. There’s not really much I can say here since we don’t know much more yet, and who knows if this has changed behind the scenes. But just think about that, the rarity of the color purple, night vs day, and the “monster”. Keep it in your head, I think it may be important.
Also the fact that Eddie is the only one with a watch, but Sally’s face has an incredibly similar face on her door.
Obviously Sally has some sort of beef with Eddie, despite him being nothing but friendly and (to our knowledge) being undeserving of it. One thought I entertained was “maybe Sally is dismissive of him because he’s a worker,” but that holds zero water when you consider how perfectly friendly Sally was with Howdy (karen Sally debunked <3). The second thought I had was “maybe Sally senses the queer in Eddie and it intimidates her” - which would make sense if Sally is a lesbian like I suspect. Internalized homophobia, anyone? This holds up if Eddie is going to turn out to be - not open about himself, but comfortable in his skin in a way that, say, Frank isn’t. Which I have a feeling that will be the case, which would likely make Sally put on airs even more so than usual.
Anyone else seeing a continuous trend of (social) masks and performances unfolding in the Neighborhood? I sure am.
But let’s talk about why I think they might be foils. They balance each other out in an interesting way, despite their only solid similarity being that Both will work/perform no matter the weather. They have a lot of closely related differences:
Eddie has been mentioned (and implied within the story so far) to have a deeper well of knowledge than he lets on, but acts humble about it. Sally has been mentioned (and implied) to know less than she portrays, but acts like a bit of a know-it-all - she pretends to know things that she doesn’t.
Eddie’s role is about helping others at his own expense, while Sally’s is using others to reach fame.
Eddie strives to connect with his Neighbors and is all about accuracy/precision. Sally is in her own little world and has proved to be more than willing to improvise / not think things through before acting.
Eddie is slow to anger, and Sally is easily irritated.
Selfless vs Selfish.
Night vs Day.
And to put them in the Johari Window - i believe that Sally resides in the Blind Spot (known to others, not known to self), and Eddie resides in either the Facade (not known to others, known to self) OR the Unknown (not known to others, not known to self). Personally I’m starting to believe that Eddie may reside in both.
It’s far too early to draw any real conclusions, and theorizing on all of this is difficult. I feel as though - as usual - we have puzzle pieces but no frame of reference for the way they fit together, what picture they build. And who knows, tomorrow’s update may shred this to ribbons, but I doubt it.
One thought I had was that they’re in cahoots about something - it doesn’t have to be something malicious or some sort of secret plot, it could simply be something they both know and are trying to keep quiet about. Eddie is trying to connect with Sally since they have this in common, but Sally is actively putting distance between them to preserve their secret / plausible deniability. Do I actually believe this? Meh. I’m just throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks.
So current base thoughts: Sally is dismissive of Eddie either because he intimidates/scares her on an internalized level, or she’s actively trying to put distance between them for a currently unknown reason. There’s probably a secret third option I haven’t even considered!

day 7 of @hellcheerweek || heroes & villains + children of vecna
The flashing lights of Hawkins PD squad cars are not an unfamiliar sight for Eddie. He's been herded into one or two over the years.
Yet even with the strange events of the past few years, he can't imagine the mothers and fathers of Loch Nora have often woken to those lights flashing in their windows like they did on this overcast Sunday morning.
There’s a chill in the air, and Eddie fiddles with the ragged hem of his vest as he stands apart from the groups of neighbors whispering among themselves on the sidewalk outside the Cunningham home. He tries his best to take deep breaths and tune out the gossip around him, but he’s unsuccessful. He hears the speculation that Chrissy must have been on drugs, that she’d fallen in with a bad element. How tragic it is to see such a good family fall.
Eddie can’t even bring himself to roll his eyes at their fake concern. All he wants is to see Chrissy walk through the front door of the home, even if it has to be in handcuffs. He just needs to know she’s okay.
But he knows that she’s not. Against his will, he’d picked up on some other salient information circulating quickly amongst the gathered Hawkins citizens: firstly, that the Cunningham daughter was nowhere to be found when Laura Cunningham’s body was discovered, bloody and mutilated. Secondly, that Chrissy’s bedroom was a mess and much of her clothing and reportedly a bundle of cash Philip Cunningham had on hand was missing; and thirdly, that the family car had been taken.
Finding himself growing numb to the cold and with a strange buzzing turning the voices of the neighbours to white noise, he flashed back to two nights before, when he dropped Chrissy off a block away from this very spot.
She’d kissed him in a rush. Not exactly nervous, but a bit desperate. Like she needed his oxygen to get her through the rest of her night. It was a quick hard press of her lips to his, one soft palm pressed to his cheek. With her forehead leaning against his, she murmured a breathless, “Thank you,” before turning and dashing out of the van.
She didn’t look back.
That was the last time he saw her, that cheer skirt swishing around her legs and the curled ends of her golden hair bouncing around her shoulders with each step she took away from him.
Now Eddie picks apart every moment of that day and night, searching for the moment when he could have changed it all. Her haunted expression when they met in the woods, how easily he melted it into laughter. The way he pretended not to notice as she watched his profile in the van on the drive to his place. The hours between their encounter and meeting in the school parking lot late that night tempered his giddiness, and he couldn't think of a smooth way to acknowledge her staring. In the end, he settled for blaring music she couldn't possibly like and making a dumb joke about his trailer being his castle, whatever that means.
He’d started to doubt whether he should be giving ketamine to someone without much drug experience, but she insisted and he decided to trust her. As he was preparing it for her, she started telling him about the hallucinations she’d been having–the monster following her around, taunting her.
One particular detail she let slip keeps repeating in his head. She was sunk deep into his couch cushions, loose-limbed and staring into the middle distance in fascination as she told him the monster wanted to end her suffering and kept repeating the best way to do so would be to end her tormentors. From what Eddie could gather, her mother was probably number one on that list.
And now Laura Cunningham is dead, and Chrissy is gone.
He’d sat around the trailer all day yesterday smoking, playing around with his guitar, and just staring stupidly at the green scrunchie he had around his wrist. Wasting time he should have used throwing pebbles at her bedroom window to check in with her. After the things she confessed to him, how could he not insist on caring for her? He should have forced her to stay over at the trailer. He could have taken the couch.
There are so many things he could have done and it was too late now.
He’d never experienced anything like the shocked silence that falls upon the crowd when paramedics finally wheel a black body bag out into the waiting ambulance.
When he sees Philip Cunningham finally make an appearance in the front doorway watching the surreal scene outside his home, blank-faced in a sweater soaked in blood, Eddie finally turns and walks away.
When he arrives home, still in a daze and barely cognizant of his surroundings, he spots something strange–a folded page of pale pink notebook paper is sitting daintily on his lumpy pillow, alongside the scrunchie that he is certain he’d left lying beside his guitar.
When he reads the note, a sob catches in his throat and he finally cries.
Our night meant more to me than I can say.
I hope I get to love you in another life.
xo
