I haven’t been insane about Vi enough lately so time to pour out some random thoughts. free association thinking time:

been thinking about her “It's my savings. I wanna be rich, okay? So I can travel, eat well, buy cool stuff… So no one can say I can't do something!” And none of the following will really be insightful or revelatory because it’s just what she says here but. yeah! that’s vi! the main reason she’s so big on money is because she has to be to get what she wants out of life! it’s what lets her say no to people telling her what to do, and that’s important to her because she has no choice but to be independent and support herself. because no one else will. No one at the Hive had anything positive or supportive to say about her being an explorer until she went out and did it (to a ridiculously successful degree, too. I have to wonder if/how it might’ve differed if she was on a regular accomplishment level team. not the one leading them all to the mission to the Hive). she never had a choice not to be. I could also see that being a little part of why she starts out not really being a teamwork person. past experiences have taught her she can’t rely on anyone else for support. (does make me wonder about what if she’d met Chubee before leaving the Hive. obviously she still would’ve left, but how might even a bit of support have changed other things?)

I feel like we don’t talk about the fact that The Beemerang Is Also Knives enough

ok so at one point there was this post talking about people with money and how it affects their life like. if you can afford to get a nanny then you can only do the fun parts of childcare and when you stop feeling like taking care of the kid you can just hand them to someone else to take them away. and again likely not especially revelatory but I would guess that’s the kind of way queen bianca handled the bees as her daughters (she does care about them. absolutely. but not in the same hands-on attached way as we usually associate with parents) and thinking about how that kind of treatment would then apply to vi....hm

in universes where discussions of Gender and Pronouns etc happen I think she has moments where she gets frustrated with the everything of Being Referred To and Having Complicated Identity She Hasn’t Quite Figured Yet and is like. gender is cancelled how dare you refer to me. but especially anyone else calls me a girl ever i will be stabbing them

also I think a lot about what circumstances she finds out about gayness/Gender being things. and whether she’s thought about it in herself before and whether she’d been dismissed on it/told it wasn’t a thing etc. most circumstances she ends up angry about the finding out times because of (un)consicious internal conflict stuff

underground tavern stuff implies she was definitely doing quests and stuff for money with them precanon. would kill to know what specifically it was. but also the first talk with utter implies that she was doing stuff off that questboard as well which is even more intriguing. utter’s spy also implies you don’t have to be an explorer to do them but otherwise you would think you did I feel. so again very curious what was up there

#inspired by that girl blorbos post and also me trying to think about where in the game they drop facts and such about precanon stuff w her #the urge to try and fic about the stuff between her leaving the hive and showing up at the association....strong again #'the hive didn't do anything' my ass. vi might have also been a jerk but it's just that she was the more obvious #easily labeled incident version of it. she was active while her treatment was the subtle passive neglect type of bad treatment #complex situation and also. yeah #an aquila original #vi bug fables #bug fables #also featuring funky gender lesbian stuff because thats not even headcanon. to me #hopefully the reasoning out stuff doesn't just come out like a load of nonsense #vi's one of those characters where I definitely feel comfortable in writing her on a basic level but some parts I'm super insecure about #and the part with her is in really capturing the complexities of her backstory and family issues #and the thing is it's like. I have to remind myself that some parts of how canon did her on that are actually decent #and I should pay attention to those complexities. but then also canon definitely did some of their 'this hasn't really been earned'#resolution stuff on her. mostly thinking about the postcanon dialogue with Bianca. it's jsut too much of a jump for that for me #and it's not even that I necessarily think bianca's dialogue is out of character. it's that I'm contemplating whether it would've #made more sense for vi to get angry about it. like.#ok so. sometimes i think about what coming out to my family might be like. and I've come to the conclusion that if they were just accepting #despite the fact that it would be best case scenario I'd be angry about it. because they've said some shitty stuff in the past. in general #they've made me feel unsafe about myself. so no actually you don't get to just suddenly be chill about it now fuck you.#it doesn't change the past hurts #and I could see Vi being like that too. even if part of her is happy about getting what she wanted to start with she's pissed about #only getting it now. with a side helping of also wondering if the approval /now/ is only because she's been so successful about it #what if she hadn't been so specially favored by elizant? what if she hadn't been on the team that saved the world? why did she (maybe) have #to earn the approval she should've had from the start?#also not gonna get into this one right now but tweaking her story with jaune to acknowledge that theyre both at fault in different ways #(again). would be nice #but now I'm definitely veering into repeating myself type rambling territory so

My headcanons for the named trio in The Cursing of Chateau Castle series:

Josephandre is a big bear. It just fits for him I think! He gets he/him pronouns, and as a way to make him a liiiil more relatable for Mira, he'd have two craft types (Rock type being his main one and paper craft for the other). Battle style wise, I think it fits him to be more of a self-sustaining tank. He buffs defense, heals, and puts up shields. For his weapon, he'd use his fists like Isabeau. He'll be the second fastest in the trio.

Lady Irene-Janine-Kanine looks like an elegant noblewoman on the outside but she has vibes similar to Euphrasie! She gets she/her pronouns. Her craft type is Paper. Battle style wise, she's more on the offensive side, a main dps kind of thing. Most of her skills focus on buffing attack and speed, she'd have an item that helps regen her hp a lil bit and her chosen weapon is an umbrella. The tip is a sharp blade so it's used like a spear that has a hidden sword in its handle. Open it, and it becomes a shield! That'd be one of her skills too, although it's only applicable to her. She's the fastest one of the trio.

Pierre-Jacques-Erneste looks like a nobleman and carries himself as such! He gets he/they pronouns. Their craft type is Scissors. Battle style wise, he's more of a debuffer, skills focusing on weakening the enemies, slowing them down, poisoning them. Their weapon is a sword dagger, though he doesn't seem to be able to handle it well, how clumsy! But he Is a nobleman so it makes sense! Oh but... why doesn't he have a title? They're the slowest one of the trio, how strange, he seemed to be faster than Lady Irene-Janine-Karine that one time though.

#aria rants #how do i even tag these things bro im like-- why am i such a fan of a fragmented series in isat #okay so-- josephandre relied mostly on raw strength when he was travelling all alone before meeting the others #and i think he'd have a fun uncle vibe to him. which makes it easy for others to approach him and befriend him #but he Also carries a sort of pride and dignity to him which makes the others mistake him for a nobleman cuz of it #esp considering the fact that he later became famous for helping those in need and such.#lady irene on the other hand. being a noble she's always had to keep her guard up. also doesnt help that noblewomen #got the short end of the stick what with the ''arrange marriage'' things and being below noblemen #her umbrella weapon helps a lot in warding off the assholes. i think that during the journey with josephandre's party #she got to finally be herself without needing to sugarcoat her words in a way that a noble should. she would also figure out a #way to improve on her shield spell to not only apply to just her but her entire party too. she cares a lot about them after all #meanwhile i got a Whole scenario for pierre (being an illegitimate child of a noble family and all that. i made a post bout it)#he's actually a lot more capable than what he makes himself appear as. but its like part of the plan on getting the others #to lower their guards around him for when pierre betrays them. in actuality pierre is actually faster than irene altho #not much stronger still (irene and josephandre are still stronger than him) considering that pierre mainly focused on #stealth type attacks. hes more used to using a sword than a dagger (he mightve wanted to prove their worth)#it makes their battle style and weapon clash due to the fact that swords arent that good for stealth much than a dagger #its one of the reasons why hes trying to get used to the dagger than the sword. but it is a bit difficult to learn a new weapon

Steph (25):

Says her worst trait is her murderous rages (she is exaggerating for dramatic/comedic effect, she’s killed 3 people tops and for very good reason)

Thinks her worst trait is her spitefulness (one of the few traits she definitely got from her father + one that prevents her from fixing her relationships and living her best possible life. She’ll refuse to interact with someone she dearly loves after an argument (happens significantly less after Tim’s death) or will say things she knows are hurtful just for the sake of having the last word. This trait will worsen in some ways as the list of people who have wronged her and those she loves grows, but will also ease up as she matures and realizes the harm it’s doing to her relationships with those she loves most.)

Her worst trait really is her spitefulness

Cass (26)

Says her worst trait is her self-righteousness (she believes that her goals are righteous and, as a result, she is righteous. Cass becomes very defensive whenever someone questions the mission and often does not second-guess herself. This is a trait she only develops later in life as she grows closer to Bruce/learns to understand herself more/starts to love herself more. But she knows she isn’t perfect and when somebody she trusts criticizes something she is doing she is willing to listen. She just usually isn’t the one to START the introspection.)

Thinks her worst trait is her self-righteousness.

Her worst trait actually is her obsessiveness (she gets it from Bruce and, while not as bad as him, she will easily become preoccupied with her night-life and the mission if someone isn’t there to pull her back. She will do this to the point of self-destruction and it hurts her relationships with the people she loves, especially Steph.)

Tim (24)

Says his worst trait is his spitefulness (he actively rejects the idea of mending his relationships with the older members of the family and this causes him to also lack good relationships with the younger ones)

Thinks his worst trait is his obsessiveness (similar to Cass, if he gets fixated on a task or idea he will neglect everything else in his life in order to dedicate more time to it. Unlike Cass, he will almost never be dragged away from it unless Pierrot snatches control of the body and forces them to take care of themself.)

His worst trait actually is how manipulative he is (the KING of guilt-tripping and using people’s emotions against them. He’ll do whatever he needs to do to get what he wants, he’s not above crocodile tears. And he will do it to whoever he needs (or wants) to with little care for how his actions impact others.)

Pierrot (Insists: “Age doesn’t apply to me! And even if it did, I'd probably be the oldest. Or the youngest! I’d never be a middle child, though.” Mental assessments by the Bats have put him around 21, with a margin of error of 3 years. Pierrot has called this “blatant character assassination by my eternal rival!”)

Says his worst trait is that he is an irredeemable psychopath without any regard for the wellbeing of others (this is a lie and everyone who's important to him understands this).

Thinks his worst trait is his parasitic nature (he literally would not exist had Tim not suffered the way he did. Plus he is a living reminder of one of the worst things that happened to many of his loved ones. He is a parasite injected into a functional person's body and contributes to his continued suffering. This is also a largely incorrect judgement of himself, caused by his actual worst trait.)

His worst trait actually is his limited sense of self (he doesn’t really know who he is outside of ‘inheritor to the legacy of the Joker (a man he despises yet also views as a father)’ and ‘chip in Tim’s brain that became sentient’. He slowly develops an identity over the course of his life and relationships with other people, but he lacks the foundations of identity that most people have. Pierrot will often almost become a caricature of himself and what others perceive him to be because it's the only person he knows how to be. This causes wild swings in how he behaves and relates to others, sometimes to the detriment of himself and others.)

Dick (17)

Says his worst trait is his clinginess (he is a very extraverted person who likes to be around others, which mixed with his fear of abandonment after his parents died means that if he goes a few days without seeing/talking to a friend he will get very anxious.)

Thinks his worst trait is his anger issues (he gets ticked off very easily and will explode on people. He’s kind at his core and is usually very nice, but he has a temper that can escalate significantly. Spoiler (and later Twist) help him channel this anger into something positive.)

His worst trait actually is his anger issues.

Barbara (18)

Says her worst trait is her disability (internalized ableism, she thinks of herself as less valuable than the other Bats because she cannot be out there in the capes like they can. She will grow out of this as she matures and as she learns how invaluable her support for the team is.)

Her worst trait actually is her overly-independent nature (In an attempt to overcompensate for everything she can no longer do, she has resolved to do literally everything that she possibly can without any help from others. This results in many instances where she either takes on too much and winds up not being able to fully realize any of her tasks or where she makes her life and the lives of others significantly harder by refusing help when offered/not asking for it when she needs it.)

Damian (16)

Says his worst trait is his perfectionism (he is overly critical of both himself and others, taking any flaw or problem and amplifying it to an absurd degree. This is due in part to his life with the LoA (where even a brief misstep could lead to death), in part to how others treated him initially as Spoiler (any flaw was fixated on and used as a reason to either mistrust him or portray him as unworthy of the mantle), and in part due to the fact that he is Bruce’s son (the only person with worse perfectionism problems than Damian). Gradually, Damian has improved in this regard but it’s still a massive barrier to both his own happiness and his relationships with others.)

He’ll say something without thinking it through and wind up seeming insensitive. This isn’t done because of malice, rather because Duke is someone who’s quick to act and speak. But while the mantle of Insight and his awakening powers have helped him with his actions, they do not always help with his loose tongue. As such, Duke gains an unfair reputation in the media as an instigator and will accidentally cause family drama through what he says.)

Jason (14)

Says his worst trait is his bad manners (he grew up on the streets and has no idea how rich-people society works, which he’s pretty insecure about considering he’s now the youngest kid of Bruce freaking Wayne).

Thinks his worst trait is his reactiveness (Jason never got the privilege of planning ahead for various events in his life, so he instead needed to rely on being swift and harsh in how he could react to situations. It’s saved his life on multiple occasions and helps significantly in his role as Spoiler, but it can also lead to extreme overreactions (accidentally causing kidnapping scare after Jason ran away following a fight with Dick) and a struggle to plan things out ahead of time. As he grows more secure in his place in the family and in life, this trait will lessen but never fully dissipate.)

G-d it's really 3 different times that mulder has almost certainly had to launch protracted 'getting scully to eat' campaigns, after her abduction when she was 'maintained' who knows how for 3 months and had to get back on her feet, with the cancer and treatments and recovery 2 years later and again with the gut shot 2 years after that. How many times do you think he sat by her bed and tried to distract her while she struggled through a protein drink? Did the 'oh I just accidentally made too many sandwiches or pieces of toast or they put in extra fries or "free" dumplings maybe you'll take these off my hands' or planted them in a diner until she ate some soup and crackers or a plate of scrambled eggs or a milkshake while trying not to seem to insist too much, ie enough to trigger an "I'm fine" and a stalking off. No wonder he's hung up on the non-fat yogurt cups and salads with a teaspoon of dressing after multiple times of joining in to will her back from half starvation in order to get her strong enough to recover from near death experiences. Like, we have done this when it was unavoidable due to miserable circumstances, why are you doing it yourself on purpose?? 😥

Though perhaps that's a reason for her, the familiarity of completely utilitarian food that's always 'safe.'

I get the impression that money was a bit tight on clouds on the horizon in general, what with the uneven time put into the lumity kiss vs the hexsquads fight outside blight manner w/ the infamous cha cha slide, plus background details going wonky (like baloony hunter), but my favourite semi-wonky frames are the closeups on Hunters face when he's talking with Luz about him being a grimwalker.

bc the proportions are just. So funny to me. Why is his nose so long. Why are his eyes in the middle of his face. When did his forehead get so big. What's happening. Did I die. Is this purgatory. I unironically love this bc it reminds me that this show was made by people who were trying their best. And sometimes their best looks the Bunter Vs hexsquad fight in thanks to them and other times it looks like this

There's a specificity to Laudna liking fixing things, something about exercising agency, turning bad and broken things into good things. Taking dead bits, broken bits, turning them into something charming, something funny, something pretty, something useful. Restoring things to their former glory. Turning them into something better.

Fixing things, putting things back together with your own two hands.

So of course, then, the specific cruelty of having that ripped away- your own hands, betraying you. Your own hands, so good at fixing, your hands. Breaking, instead. Your hands. Breaking apart a sole source of comfort to a friend, breaking apart a promise, breaking apart an unspoken trust in a relationship, breaking apart your own sense of agency and safety, all in a matter of seconds.

Miki: Eiji-san, are you okay??

Eiji: Y-yeah, sorry.

Eiji: We have to focus on interrogating the fourth prisoner. I doubt that she will try to hurt us.

Eiji: ".. But Kei will."

Eiji: "I-it's okay, I don't think he's strong enough to do that right now."

(the door opens)

Naomi: Ah, hello, Eiji-san and Miki-san.

Miki: H-hello..

Eiji: Let's just get started already.

Naomi: Is everything okay, Eiji-san? You seem kind of.. nervous.

Eiji: I'm fine.

Miki: Ah, Chiba-san..

Miki: Can you help me with something, please?

Naomi: Huh? Sure.. But what do I have to do exactly?

Miki: C-can you hold my hand?..

Miki: I know this sounds weird, but I just.. have to see something.

Naomi: But aren't the prisoners-

Naomi: .. Okay then.

Naomi: You remember that it's impossible for us to touch you, right?

Eiji: ".. So Naomi still can't touch us."

Eiji: ".. Wait a minute. What if it's not about who can touch us, but which one of us is more vulnerable?"

Naomi: Y-you see, I actually have a question for you two.

Naomi: Sorry, I know you're supposed to interrogate me and I will answer all of your questions, but also..

Naomi: Can you tell me what this is?

Eiji and Miki: !

Naomi: We all got these papers yesterday and..

Naomi: I'm sorry, but what's the meaning of being interrogated again if we have already answered your questions?

Miki: W-what does it say?

Eiji:"Prisoner 004, Chiba Naomi, please answer the questions below. You can write as much or as little as you wish."

Eiji: "Question 01: Do you know why you're here?"

Eiji: "Question 02: Have you committed any other crimes except murder?"

Eiji: And there's just more questions.

Naomi: .. So you two also don't know what all of this means.

Naomi: Well that's weird.

Eiji: You got these yesterday, right? Why do you still have them? Akio, Aimi and Shun haven't mentioned anything like that.

Naomi: I got confused and decided to keep them until I get all the answers. If I'm not wrong, when everyone woke up, they couldn't find their papers anywhere, but I still had mine for some reason.

Naomi: I find it surprising myself. I haven't even tried to hide them..

Naomi: I also haven't answered any of the questions as you can see.

Miki: But who would try and-

Eiji: .. Who else would need to interrogate the prisoners except the prison guards?

Eiji: "Me and Miki didn't do it, so that means.."

Eiji: ".. Another guard did it."

Eiji: ".. Of course. If they're hiding somewhere, but still have to do their job, it means that they have to interrogate everyone in some other way."

Eiji: "But seriously, making the prisoners fill out this questionnaire sounds kind of naive.."

Eiji: "Like, did that guard really expect everyone to tell them about their crimes like that?"

Eiji: "Hold on, it has something on the back-"

Eiji: "If you don't answer all of the questions, you will be punished."

Eiji: ".. Never mind, maybe that guard is smart."

Eiji: Wait, Naomi.

Eiji: You haven't answered the questions, right? Do you know what that means-

Naomi: Yes, I know, Eiji-san. I've seen it.

Naomi: Well, if it really was done by a different guard.. I'll just let them do what they want.

Naomi: Just like I had let you vote me innocent even though I wanted you to vote me guilty.

Eiji: ...

Naomi: So if that was a different guard interrogating us..

Naomi: I guess it's time for me to be interrogated by you two, right?

Naomi: I promise I will cooperate.

Eiji: .. R-right.

Miki: So, Chiba-san, how are you feeling? Is everything okay?

Naomi: I feel.. weird.

Naomi: I mean, I was forgiven even though I had asked you to vote me guilty..

Naomi: I honestly didn't know how to feel after you had told me about my verdict.

Naomi: But in the end, I've simply decided to agree with you.

Eiji: .. Why?

Eiji: I expected more resistance.

Naomi: *laughs* "Resistance"? What did you expect from me?

Naomi: Did you expect me to argue with you? Did you expect me to say there must be something wrong with your judgement and morals?

Naomi: I'm not like that at all.

Naomi: .. It's easier for me to just nod and agree with everything.

Naomi: It's always been like that, haha..

Miki: I-I can relate-

Eiji: Even though you're the oldest prisoner, it's easier for you to just follow orders, huh?

Eiji: Well that's lame.

Naomi: ...

Naomi: Hey, Eiji-san.

Naomi: Aren't you doing the exact same thing?

Eiji: W-what do you mean by that?..

Naomi: I don't think you're doing all of this out of your own free will.

Naomi: You're just following someone's orders, aren't you?

Naomi: But I can tell that you like to think that you're the one who has all the power here, haha.

Naomi: So, Eiji-san..

Naomi: Maybe stop acting just like he did, okay?

Miki: "He"..

Miki: Y-you mean your victim, right?..

Naomi: ...

Naomi: Oh well, looks like it's time to talk about that.

Naomi: Yes, I was talking about my victim.

Eiji: If I'm acting just like he did..

Eiji: .. Did he also call you out for being so weak-willed?

Naomi: This is not me being weak-willed.

Naomi: I'm just trying to survive, just like everybody else here.

Naomi: If you think me agreeing with your decision is a bad sign..

Naomi: Maybe you simply shouldn't have voted me innocent then.

Naomi: Actually, why did you even agree to vote me innocent? Didn't you promise that you will vote me guilty?

Naomi: .. Were you following someone's orders?

Eiji: Y-you!..

Naomi: What's wrong? Are you regretting your decision?

Miki: Chiba-san! Please stop provoking him!

Naomi: I'm not. I'm afraid Eiji-san simply gets angry a bit too easily.

Naomi: But anyway..

Naomi: What questions do you have for me?

Miki: .. S-so, y-your victim was a child, right?

Naomi:*nods* Exactly. He was 10 years old.

Naomi: And he was one of my students.

Eiji: Your victim was your own student..

Naomi: Before you say anything else, Eiji-san, I want to remind you that me being voted innocent was your doing too.

Naomi: And I'm sure you already knew that my victim was my own student.

Naomi: I mean, I'm an elementary school teacher and I keep saying things like "Oh, kids can be so cruel"..

Naomi: I don't have any kids and my younger sister is 27, so..

Naomi: It's obvious that if my victim was a child, it means they were one of my students.

Miki: .. But why?

Miki: Why did you kill your own student?

Miki: I thought you're good with kids and-

Naomi: Everyone thought so, Miki-san.

Naomi: I thought so too.

Naomi: But that kid..

Naomi: He was too much for me to handle.

Naomi: I can't blame him though, considering what his family was like.

Eiji: But did you seriously kill him just because he thought you saying yes to everyone was pathetic?

Naomi: I knew that if I won't shut him up, I will have to continue saying yes to everyone until the end of my life.

Eiji: Oh, so killing a child sounded like a fun way to rebel?

Naomi: Just so you know, Eiji-san, when I heard him say those words, I felt exactly like you did after I said that you're just following someone's orders.

Eiji: BUT THEN WHAT'S THE POINT OF KILLING A CHILD TO FEEL MORE "POWERFUL" AND THEN JUST AGREEING WITH OUR JUDGEMENT EVEN THOUGH YOU WANTED A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT VERDICT?!

Naomi: ...

Eiji: .. If you want to fight for your independence, then you should just keep fighting no matter what.

Eiji: You can't just do one thing and say that it's enough. You will never become truly free if you do that.

(the bell rings, machinery sounds)

Naomi: But Eiji-san..

Naomi: Does this mean that being a prison guard is your own way of fighting for your independence?

Eiji: ...

Eiji: We're the ones who are supposed to be asking you questions, not the other way around.

Miki: Um, Chiba-san..

Miki: .. Do you think you will be okay with your verdict this time too?

Naomi: I will accept your judgement no matter what.

Naomi: You two are the guards, after all.

Eiji: .. Even if that kid was an annoying brat, he didn't deserve to be killed just so that you could feel a bit stronger than usual and then let us do whatever we want with you.

Eiji: Is it really you just being weak-willed or is it you being so happy that you got voted innocent that you don't want to change our mind?

Naomi: I'm-

Naomi is sitting in what appears to be a living room. There are two dark figures sitting on the couch in front of her and it looks like they're talking to her about something. Naomi is listening and nodding, but she also looks kind of anxious and she refuses to look them in the eyes.

"Here you are, telling me that old story again

The story that I already know

Or at least I think that I know"

Suddenly one of the figures stands up and tells Naomi to follow them somewhere. Naomi does exactly that and it looks like that figure wants to show her someone's room. Naomi realizes that it's actually a child's room and looks terrified.

"No, no, I don't need to see it

I already know that I'm "Guilty"

So why are you still trying to make me feel sorry?"

The figure gives her that child's diary and lets her read it before leaving the room. Naomi continues reading the diary and she starts crying.

"I can't believe I found out about this only now

Why didn't you tell me sooner? Why didn't anyone else tell me about this?

You've experienced so much pain, even though your life was so short

Does this mean that I've saved you from all that suffering?"

The setting changes and now Naomi is walking along some kind of dark hallway full of doors with dates written on them. She sees a certain date, gets nervous, but still opens that door.

It looks like she's inside of one of that child's memories now. She sees herself sitting and drinking tea with her students, meanwhile one of the kids, a little boy with orange hair and red eyes, sits alone and nobody wants to talk to him. The "Present!Naomi" puts her hand on his shoulder, but the kid doesn't react.

"I tried to help you, I really did

I saw myself in you, I knew you were struggling

But you still pushed me away

So don't blame me for being a little bit angry"

The setting changes again and now it looks like Naomi is at someone's funeral. She's crying and the two figures from one of the past scenes try to comfort her. Some time passes and now Naomi is visiting that person's grave and even though she looks genuinely sad at first, everything around her starts becoming more red.

"I know I'm "Guilty", I know I am

But everyone around me keeps saying I'm "Innocent"

Who should I believe? Hey, if you still can hear me

Tell me, would you still laugh at me for being so foolish?"

The grave gets replaced by a door with a different date being written on it and Naomi opens it. It's a different memory now and it scares her even more. Naomi sees herself crying and it looks like someone has slapped her. She also sees her students watching her while hiding and they all look like they feel sorry for her, except the orange-haired boy from before.

"Come on, at least pretend that you feel bad for me

Or actually, maybe I don't deserve your pity

Is this your revenge? Or are you just that cruel?

Aren't you too small to have so much evil in your body?"

She takes a step back and suddenly falls back into the memory from before, but now Past!Naomi is drinking tea with everyone and the orange-haired boy stands up, points at her and starts laughing at her. Other students ignore him and some of them hug Naomi and try to cheer her up. When the boy realizes that no one is agreeing with him, he walks away and tries not to look defeated. Naomi asks the children to leave her alone for a second and she walks up to him and puts her hand on his shoulder again. The boy looks surprised and his eyes light up for a moment, but Naomi's eyes become red. She keeps smiling and she even hugs him, but it's obvious that the boy is already in her trap.

"I know I was your favorite, don't try to hide it anymore

"I just wanted more attention"? Well, here it is, try not to drown in it"

Suddenly, the setting changes again and everything starts becoming more and more red. The world around them looks like it's on fire. When the boy opens his eyes and looks around, he sees that Naomi has changed as well. She doesn't look like herself anymore. It looks like she has just turned into a devil. Naomi's hug becomes even more tight and she keeps holding the boy in her arms as he slowly turns into ashes.

"Let's admit it, both of us deserve to rot in Hell

And I refuse to be punished without you next to me"

When he's finally gone, Naomi's eye color turns back to normal and she's back to her human form. She sees that the boy is no longer with her and just keeps staring at what is left from him with an emotionless expression. She stands up and turns away from it. The video ends.

I've been on Reddit for a while and, god, Mike/Mlvn stans there are soooo weird. They put Mike on a pedestal, whitewash all the flaws that make him interesting, praise him for doing the bare minimum, and treat Will AND EL as tools useful to make Mike look better.

As a Mike stan, it's so unpleasant to read those stupid ass takes...

Mike is so complex and flawed and that's what makes him one of the best characters.

All of them are complex!! We're supposed to question them and their actions so we can figure out what it means for them and the overall story.

But the thing about Mike is that, the story is directly avoiding explaining everything that's actually going on with him, ie. Mike apparently noticing Will's every move at Rink-O-Mania, but the story not letting us see that... And so people watching casually are understandably just very prone to disliking Mike, because they have so little to go off of.

Post s4 a lot of bylers were coming for Mike, but that started to shift when we realized his POV was largely missing compared to previous seasons, and that there's a reason for that.

But it wasn't just bylers, plenty of casual fans will go on Reddit even still over a year later, and bring up their distaste for Mike and/or Mike and El's relationship, and how it's stemming from the fact that they don't know the truth about what is actually going on. They are confused. And they don't like what they are seeing based on the conclusion they have come to.

And instead of being met with actual evidence that explains Mike's behavior beyond the superficial, they get chastised by active fans in the sub. UGH it's so obvious. It's not that difficult to understand! That's the kind of stuff they say to casual fans every single day coming on there for answers after watching the show and sensing something off. Like, it must not be that obvious if not only bylers are acknowledging the elephant in the room, but even random casual fans are out here simply looking for some clarity, consistently.

And the way they talk about Mike, they talk about him in a way where it's obvious they don't actually know what he's genuinely going through. They conflate him to being in love with El and insecure because she's better than him. And their biggest defense is that all teenage boys go through that? Like, what are we even talking about right now?

On a show as complex as Stranger Things, they go from giving us the protagonist's POV in the first two seasons, to almost removing it entirely, causing the bulk of their audience to be confused bc there are pieces missing... You'd think that was probably intentional? Probably to keep a secret going, seeing as explaining exactly what Mike was thinking throughout s3-4 would sort of give the surprise away?

Every season has to get better than the previous. The stakes for season 5 are MASSIVE. And many are going into it completely misunderstanding what Mike is thinking and feeling. All it would literally take is informing them to change that and make the show come full circle perfectly.

I think they intend for the show to be rewatched and rewatched again and again. And you're not going to be able to rewatch ST from the beginning if you don't like Mike Wheeler. And that includes him and all his flaws that go beyond just the palatable that they've been willing to reveal up to this point, but also the truth behind it the Duffers have been so tight lipped about, with intentions to save it for the end.

If they're keeping us in the dark about Mike's true feelings and most of the audience hates him rn based on misunderstandings, then yeah, there's a really good chance they'll do what they can to clear up that confusion. There's a good chance they'll want to do what they can to make all of those moments in previous seasons easier to appreciate Mike's complexities and what he was going through more, and while most had no idea or even denied it as being a possibility in the first place when confronted with it back then.

If you're conflating Mike to he's a teenager give him a break and you're not actually down for discussions about what makes him very intentionally complex and why he is deserving of actually being able to say his piece for everyone that's misunderstood him over the years, then idk what to tell you. You're expectations for the Duffer's are obscenely low...
