Sometimes, I don't like looking at Frieren fandom things is because it feels so alienating as an aroace person sometimes.

I relate to Frieren in a lot of ways. The way she goes through life at her own speed, the way she has a certain way of doing things that is hard to change, the way she struggles to fully understand others but is still compassionate and tries, and last but not least, the way she doesn't feel romantic or sexual attraction the way most people do.

So when a fan posts something about how elves like Frieren don't really feel romantic or sexual attraction and it's wonderful that Himmel's unrequited love with her is still portrayed as something beautiful, healthy and valued, but the comments section is just filled with people being like: No!!!! That's not true!!! Frieren loves Himmel even though she doesn't realise it!!!!

Or even the more "generous" ones are like: No!!! She is just falling in love with him years later!!! The whole story is about how she regrets not pursuing it until it was too late!!!!

And like, every person has their own interpretation and ships. But it really is a bit saddening as an aroace person that sees Frieren also as an aroace who probably would never feel as much romantic love for Himmel EVER. People have almost this... need to correct people that Frieren loves Himmel romantically.

I think I’m gonna make this a whole post in case people didn’t see my reply, but this is the pace we’re going this season:

If we keep going like this, Bakugo’s sacrifice should be around episode 9, Deku’s Vigilante Arc around episode 16… and Bakugo’s apology around episode 22.

Also Tsuyu’s key visual for this season was the color page for chapter 320

and Bakugo’s apology is chapter 322.

My review of Miraculous Ladybug S5 so far is that it has a lot of scenes that I like in theory, but in action just end up being very silly and way over dramatic

#that being said. i love them all the same #genuinely obsessed with this show #but man it handles everything in such an odd way #they always spend so much time talking about nothing for the first 75% of the episode #and then the last 25% hikes up the drama to 100 and its always so abrupt #'illusion' is an excellent example of this lol #that episode had such a strange and sudden tone shift #its bizarre that the episodes are 22 minutes long but still barely manage to say anything #this is all technically criticism but make no mistake. i wouldnt have it any other way #this is truly the peak of miraculous ladybug. this is what it should ALWAYS be #so far i dont think theres been an episode where ive been particularly BORED. theyve all got a little spice to them #which i appreciate #well. i kinda didnt like the first 2 episodes. those were just a lot of running around #but everything after that has been exactly what i wanted #tldr: the pacing is weird and i wouldnt change a thing #my notes document on this show is up to 8 pages. ive never had as many opinions on a show as I do this one #im a certified miraculous stan

To all of you who are blaming the pacing issues on the episode lengths, do you not watch anime? There are shows that have 20/24 minute episodes who somehow magically manage to tell a coherent plot in that time. It's almost like... the problem isn't the format.

my verdict on the day of the doctor novelization is that the plot is still so stupid to me but at least i can live my life knowing moffat can write ten marginally correctly but he only keeps it in a novelization where nobody is going to see it. (my personal highlights under the cut)

this is a really good take on the ten and river dynamic, they're acquaintances and ten purposefully keeps it that way. the "time can be rewritten maybe her horrible death that happened in front of me can be prevented if i stay away from her" really goes well with how he's left after the events of journey's end

"he had to stop thinking before it tore him apart!" is THE most ten narration i've seen in my life. i need to eat rocks

this part just makes me really really sad. the dissociation between the tone and what's actually happening (him getting tortured. for months). how he's so clearly not acknowledging what's happening to him (he won't describe the screaming as his own). how he latches onto the only other presence there and focuses on charming her and making her laugh??? this also makes the hinting at a romance between ten and elizabeth that moffat does, extremely fucking upsetting because you can see how ten is just so fucking lonely and on instinct attaching himself to anyone who has any amount of regular presence to him. even if. well. you know. the torture.
