Headcanon Jason is a workaholic but he never lets his work keeps him up too late because Nico can’t sleep well without him.
Nico often gets nightmares etc whenever Jason’s not near despite being desperately in need of resting, so Jason makes sure to put his work aside and go to bed in healthy time no matter what to maintain Nico’s sleeping schedule. 😤🤗

Will, smugly: Yep, off on a romantic trip to Tartarus with Nico, my boyfriend.
Jason, just as cocky: If he’s your man, then why is he dreaming about my strong arms around him?

Jasico Bingo Challenge: CHB Jason
Nico isn’t sure what’s worse: the fact that his childhood best friend seemingly disappeared into thin air a week ago, or the fact that the hottest guy he’s ever seen in his life has mysteriously appeared within Camp Jupiter’s walls.
“Of course it was the first cohort,” he overhears after a Senate meeting, whispered in the halls. “He must be crazy powerful, if Lupa didn’t even need to train him!”
“Shut up, that’s just a rumor. Everyone has to meet Lupa.”
“They definitely met,” the first voice insists. Nico leans further into his shadows. The pair pass in front of him. “But she just let him go.”
Hot guy is, of course, the gossip of the week. The month, even.
Nico privately decides that hot guy is worse, only because it seems like his presence alone has turned the Legion into morons who’ve forgotten their freakishly powerful, supposed-to-be-Praetor has literally evaporated. Poof! No more son of Neptune!
Nico would think the people who just a few years ago made a massive deal out of every move said son of Neptune made would pay a little more attention to the fact that the whole freaking man is gone!
But no. There’s new gossip to be had, about a blonde with drool-worthy eyes and a scar on his lip and a suspiciously-missing backstory.
Spend enough time in the Underworld, and you learn to suspect the whole amnesia act. Shades always know more than they pretend to.
As the senate hall empties, Nico sinks fully back into the shadows.
He will not let this stand.
(to be continued)

Nico and Jason on a quest or camping or just traveling and doing whatever when nighttime comes and Nico's like "I want to sleep in this cave I sense nearby" and bird boy Jason points at the trees "I wanna sleep up there" and they spend like an hour arguing over which spot is more comfortable and safe to spend the night in

the lost trio sees nico immediately after the giant war and leo and piper are super dramatically like "how does it feel to have ruined a perfectly good man?" or like "it's okay, i don't mind losing to you. you're a good man, nico, treat him well" or like "our darling boy is growing so fast!!" all while very exaggeratedly crying meanwhile jason is hiding his face as they bully him for his giant crush on nico. leo piper and jason are dating btw

Any new Jasico ideas? I've reread your works, and the craving for new stories is real.
i don't know if my random babblings count as "works" but i'll scrape together some fragments from hollering in the jasico server just for you
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there was chatter about jason latching onto nico when he first shows up in camp jupiter pre-HoO because he's so fascinated by nico's whole deal, like wow another kid of the big 3 who isn't tied to camp?? this guy just goes wherever he wants and actually interacts with his godly parent regularly???
and i just wanna see a complete AU starting from there, ditch the HoO storyline entirely and do something new (without jason memory loss for once lol)
Tumblr media
nico ollies out to go back to camp halfblood in an attempt to settle things on that end, which of course only seems more suspicious to the romans, but jason is Invested and also doesn't want a war and in all the chaos he ditches camp jupiter to chase after nico

The reason to ship Nico/Alabaster/Jason is so that i can squish them all into May Castellan's house and heal them all (May included) at once. Killing 4 birds with one stone right now. No one does it like me. I dare you.

Six ways Nico says "I love you" to Jason.
this is me cheating legally on @jasico-challenges bingo by using up seven bingo prompts for this six-chapter 5+1 fic: one for each chapter and one for the work as a whole. however i am posting the whole fic together because i think it makes the most sense, and also, i want to.

Jasico Bingo, February 2024 | Prompt: Forgotten Relationship ✿
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
Nico doesn’t really start letting Jason haunt him until after the war. After Gaea, after Leo, after Percy.
Really, when he thinks about it, it might have just been Percy. It’s almost funny—like putting the idea of Percy down for good unlocked something in his mind, a faded memory of a summer that feels like it happened well over just one short year ago.
(Later, Jason laughs at him. How could you be the one to forget? If it were anyone else, Nico isn’t sure he’d find himself laughing along.)
But he did, somehow, caught up in the past, caught up in the future, caught up in the idea of someone who didn’t really exist. Maybe it was stupid. Nico had a lot going on, though, in his defense. They all did, but the war ends and Nico’s infatuation with Percy ends, and as determined as he is to avoid falling for another hero—
It happens all at once, on a lazy mid-afternoon, pressed down into the earth by Thalia’s tree with all the force of the usual sun-baked sleepiness August brings. Nico isn’t sure when it became his and Jason’s routine, meeting here when the excitable crowd of younger campers becomes too much, but it’s nice. It’s something Nico almost thinks he could get used to.
If there’s one thing he’s learned, though, it’s that not even ideas last forever. Maybe that’s what makes him expend the effort to look in Jason’s direction, just for a glance to remember this by, flopping his head to the side to find Jason already looking back.
It’s not like it's anything huge, but it all seems to fall into place. The faded memory of the brush of a hand, of a smile that doubled as a secret, carefully angled in Nico’s direction from across a crowded room.
“Oh,” he says aloud.
Jason’s face cracks into a smile, like he can read Nico’s mind. If the memories flooding his brain were any less unrelenting, maybe he’d wonder when Jason remembered all that. After Piper? Before? Months ago? This morning?
There’s a sudden urge to hide, to cover his face, but Jason seems to read his mind about that, too. He reaches over and grabs Nico’s arm before he can summon the strength to move it, and Nico is as good as trapped.
It's not such a bad thing, he thinks, if this is the view. Then he realizes that’s the corniest thought that’s ever run through his head and he has to resist the urge to smack himself.
“Is it okay?” Jason asks. His voice is a whisper, like maybe the heavy afternoon air is affecting him too. “I’m sorry I didn't say anything, I—”
“It’s okay,” Nico says, half because it’s true and half out of pure reflex. And then he registers the rest of what Jason said. “Sooner? I—um, why didn’t you?”
Jason’s smile turns sheepish right as his summer tan reddens. The hand on his arm is sweaty, though that may just be the heat. “I was scared,” he says after a moment. “I thought—well, you know, last time I checked, you liked Percy. And I didn’t exactly want to bring it up again.”
“You’re stupid,” Nico says, and this time, it’s entirely because he means it. Jason laughs anyways, though, like he’s already accepted the truth of it. “I haven’t liked Percy in forever.”
A year isn’t forever, but it’s long enough for what it was. Jason’s smile softens when he hears the words.
“Cool,” he says. He looks nice, sprawled out on the grass like this, and for a moment Nico thinks of doing something crazy, like rolling over and smushing the pair of glasses sitting between them to kiss him, or something.
But maybe, Nico is realizing, there’s time for that. If there was time for him to wait for Jason, that is, and for Jason to wait for him. And maybe there’s a time, one that wouldn’t involve a trip to see an optometrist.
“So what is this, then?” he asks. It comes out more demanding than he means it but Jason takes it in stride. That, or maybe it just sounded different to his ears. Nico is never sure, with him.
“Whatever you want it to be?” Jason says. He’s squinting, and now Nico can’t tell if he’s confused or if he’s just trying to read him. And it’s at that moment that Nico thinks he should maybe try on Jason’s glasses sometime, because he has no clue how bad his vision really is. “Maybe that means it’s the end for our friendship. But maybe that just makes it a beginning, you know?”
Nico takes a moment to think about that. Endings. For a child of Hades, the god of the End, he’s always hated them. This one, though, doesn’t seem too bad, if a little treacherous.
But when he thinks about it, really, he’s done riskier things.
“A beginning,” he repeats slowly. There’s a smile threatening to break through his defenses, and Jason is looking at him fondly, like he knows it. “You’re sappy, Grace.”
“Do you like it or not?” Jason asks.
Nico shifts, then, just so that Jason’s sweaty palm is now resting on his own sweaty palm. It’s a little gross, but Nico supposes he’ll live. The risk is paying off, too, as Jason curls his fingers around Nico’s. Somehow, it feels revolutionary.
“I do,” he whispers. “A beginning. Let’s try it.”

Jasico Week Day One: Confession
The pen on the table remains untouched.
(This shouldn’t be an issue. This isn’t an issue. The fact that Nico noticed it is a fluke all on its own and it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t.)
Jason’s hands are perfectly still in his lap beneath the table, conversation flowing freely as ever. They’d been chatting about their days - Nico just got back from a long job for his father, and happened to bump into Jason outside the Principia. They’d gone out to lunch. Nico made Jason laugh three times.
The pen is still untouched.
(The thing is, Jason is a fiddler. He fiddles, but only when he’s calm. He lets his hands move freely because he doesn’t feel the anxious pressure to keep himself in line. When he’s anxious, he’s still as the dead, the perfect picture of a well-mannered leader. Nico shouldn’t know this. He can’t help but know things about people.)
Jason’s office looks the same as it did the day Nico first found himself in it, across from a stranger who stared at him like Nico was prey, was something to be hunted down, killed.
Then, the office felt like a jail cell. He was their prisoner until Reyna could confirm his bullshit ambassador story, technically, not that either of them will admit it.
Some of the pictures on the walls have Nico in them, now. He avoids looking at them if he can. It’s too weird.
Nico stares at the pen, instead.
“Annabeth should be getting out of her afternoon class pretty soon, if you’re bored,” Jason says, a little tone in his voice that sounds like he’s picked up on Nico’s wandering mind.
“I’m not bored.” He does not move that damned pen. “Are you okay?”
Jason stops, as much as an unmoving man can. Nico glances up to his eyes briefly, then over to a framed photo of Hazel and Reyna post-battle, the two of them in their full gladiator armor clasping hands respectfully.
In Nico’s peripherals, Jason slumps in slightly, his chin dipping. “You always do that,” he sighs.
“Do what?”
Finally, Jason’s hand twitches across the desk, his fingers brushing the gold-capped pen. It’s Camp Jupiter branded, engraved with Jason’s name and rank and everything. A gift from the praetors who came before him and Reyna.
Jason flicks the pen expertly across his knuckles.
Nico exhales. He hadn’t realized how tense he was.
“Nothing,” Jason says. “You reminded me that there was something I needed to ask you, though.”
(Nico’s always noticed more things about Jason than he does other people. Jason’s just that kind of guy, the kind who deserves to be noticed. Of course Nico always watches him; Jason is a leader, everyone looks up to him, everybody sees him.
Nico observes, though, he doesn’t just see. He takes note, remembers things, always trying to figure out the puzzle pieces that make Praetor Grace the way he is.
Sometimes, it feels like Nico gives Jason more answers about himself than Jason even knows. It’s a good feeling, to show somebody a part of themself they hadn’t yet found, or appreciated. Nico loves the look on Jason’s face every time Nico points something out to him. Jason has a kind smile.)
“That doesn’t sound good,” Nico says, though he’s not nervous. Jason has always been upfront with him - if there were an issue, they would’ve spoken about it over their meal. He leans back in his chair and folds his fingers across his stomach, able to relax now that Jason is behaving normally again.
“It’s not bad, I promise.” Jason flicks the pen again and leans back in his own chair, the old parts squeaking under his weight. “I wanted to ask if…if you’d like to get dinner, sometime.”
Nico frowns, skipping his gaze once again to Jason’s face. “But we just got lunch.”
“I’m asking if you’d like to go on a date, Nico,” Jason says, his voice suddenly softened and amused and, a date. A date?
Jason wants to go on a date?
Nico stares at the pen, now, each revolution around Jason’s finger twisting his brain in a new knot. Jason- a date. Jason wants to go on a date. A dinner date. A romantic date.
With Nico?
“You don’t have to say yes.” Jason leans forward again, a fluid motion, and he stops spinning the pen but maybe not because he’s stressed. He presses his hand down onto the desk, close to Nico. He says, “don’t feel pressured or anything. I just…wanted to ask. Because I-I really like you, I like how you make me feel, about myself, and- and I love spending time with you. And, of course, if you don’t- feel that same way, I’m fine staying friends. I love being friends with you, too. But, if there’s a chance, y’know. I didn’t want to- miss it.”
Miss his chance. Miss his chance, as if there would ever be a time Nico was unavailable, for- dating purposes? As if there are any other people anywhere who would consider Nico worthy of romance, as if Jason Grace hasn’t just presented Nico with the biggest anomaly since he brought his sister back to life.
Miss his chance. Gods above.
(The first time Nico saw Jason fidget, they were hanging out at Camp Half-Blood, waiting for Will to get out of a meeting with Chiron and his cabinmates. Jason started picking at the threads on the sofa, then moved on to twisting the beads of his necklace, and the small bronze ring Leo forged for him which wound up being too small to fit.
It was also the first time Nico noticed that Jason had nice hands. It was the first time Nico looked at Jason and thought, he’s really pretty.
It was the first time Nico thought, no. Not again.)
“You’re serious?” Nico asks. He has to be sure. Jason would never joke about something like that, not knowing what he knows, and Nico knows all that, but none of this quite makes sense, either.
Jason smiles, his face rosy pink like he’s flustered. “I am one hundred percent serious.”
“You want to go on a date.”
“Yes.”
“With me?”
“No. I want to go on many dates with you.”
Nico blinks, draws a blank on responding to that one. He opens his mouth, then shuts it. He watches Jason weave the pen between his fingers expertly, unbothered by the weight of it. It’s a practiced movement, one Nico’s seen hundreds of times.
“Well, uhm.” Nico shifts back and forth in his seat. “I don’t have to leave for another week, at least. So we could…get dinner while I'm here?”
“The date way?” Jason asks, sitting up straighter, his face doing that thing it does when he’s trying hard not to smile. Not to get his hopes up. Jason has hopes to get up about dating.
Nico feels some giddy little thing light off in his own chest, fluttering enough that he presses a hand to it to try and calm it down. “Yeah,” he says, and, dammit, now he’s smiling, because Jason’s grin breaks loose and it’s like sunlight on a clear blue day, warm and dazzling. “The date way.”
