i have finished reboot & i am sad

it's bittersweet—i mean, it was time to be finished with it; i've been watching it literally over the course of the pandemic. but enough! all things must end, even the arduously dragged-out conclusion of a whacked-out chinese tomb raiding drama featuring poisonous gas, hordes of insects, zombies, hand crabs, flying carnivorous clams, and "coffin dew," which like all the rest of those things does not exist. ruminations and pictures and spoilers behind the cut!

1. so why is this xie yuchen the most boring xie yuchen out of all of them? i don't even know this actor's name because i never bothered learning it. also when the hell did he become a doctor and do sketchy operations on people without anaesthesia? he's wearing pink, he's rich, he has the same name; but there the resemblance ends. this is not the xiao hua we know and love. where is my bitchy swishy opera-singing organized crime boss? no wonder there's no chemistry between him and xiazi; this guy barely has a pulse. sorry to this man. nice sweater, tho.

2. i was trying to prove that pangzi says "that's not your xiaoge" (which he doesn't, those are bad subtitles; he just says "that's not xiaoge") and instead captured this adorable picture of drunk bai haotian. xiao bai gets a bad rap—mao xiaotong is adorable and sweet and honestly kinda hot when she's not trapped in a bowl haircut and overalls. i appreciate that wu xie, busily dying of lungs, doesn't have time or patience to explain to her why he's not available, but zhu yilong plays it wisely straight down the middle, face impassive. ship it or don't, he seems to be saying; i don't care, it's not up to me anyway—the viewer can read it however they want. (but wu xie does manhandle her on more than one occasion and that's also kinda hot.)

3. admittedly liu sang is very very pretty but i still don't want him in my pingxie, like mint in my chocolate chip ice cream. no thank you please. i have always considered myself a multishipper, a live-and-let-live fan; but this fandom has taught me i'm monogamous and i guess there's nothing i can do about that. still. look at liu chang's beautiful features. he made me care about jinx beyond just his function as a whump magnet, and that's an achievement. someday maybe his ouxiang will give him the hug he deserves.

4. speaking of beautiful just look at these total idiots. i'm going to miss their stupid faces. xiaoge drinking water, so he can be sober enough to take his drunk husband home and put him to bed. wu xie so plastered that i have inadvertently captured the one (1) image of the most beautiful man in the world making a derp face.

BONUS: whatever this beautiful cranky bitchy "doctor" has going on. which definitely involves feelings he still has for wu xie, after what happened in germany. (you know what happened in germany.)

and that's it, that's a wrap. in the meantime zhu yilong has been in cannes being absolutely heart-stoppingly fucking divine, and i will bet you a hundred flying carnivorous clams that the next time he's there, his film will be in competition. the condé nast cover story didn't hurt. with each entrée he cements his reputation and, more importantly, protects himself from the increasingly nasty sweeps of china "cleaning up" c-ent. i honestly don't know what there is to clean up anymore; there's almost nothing left. immortality and the live-action of tgcf not being released; justice in the dark just abandoned not even halfway through. this doesn't end well.

at least as far as lost tomb goes, though, i've decided i'm proceeding backwards—so next i'm watching sand sea/sha hai, because i want to spend time with mob widow wu xie (qin hao has won me over via gifset) and ji chen's xiazi. until then, pouring one out for li jiale and chuchu. and wu erjing i guess. 干杯!

Can we have your jd2023 headcannons? I won’t mind if they aren’t like mine unless they make me uncomfortable (ex: liv, brezziana, etc being shipped with a man, the opposite of that, etc)

I’ll just be honest, using your request as one to elaborate on for myself lol (sorry)

im an avid multishipper & rarely make characters that completely lean one way or the other in romantic or sexual preference or in gender history/gender identity.

Its not because I don’t support characters that are gay/lesbian but, because I rarely get great representation of characters that aren’t (but are still queer) & even more rarely do i get to see characters that aren’t gay/lesbian go and explore their sexuality with various relationships. So a lot will be bi/pan! And a lot will also explore gender identity, and a lot will also explore non-monogamy IF ITS LEFT UP TO ME. Cause those are things that matter to me! (Im pan, enby, and polyamorus)

That being said however, i also BARELY have any great consistency within the wondoverse. There is no ‘canon’ storyline for my content. There are just different semi-solid ideas of the characters personalities & stories. Theres also a few solidified story scenarios i may write to explore (which will get their own tags for the wondoverse). But overall, i just like fiddlin around with these guys.

If there are things that make you uncomfortable w/ these characters, thats cool & i respect that! But understand i (by default) tend to write characters more like myself & may write characters that explore a lot of different routes. You can of course request characters showing specific prides, request specific ships, & ask to label them in specific ways- but if its left up to me & my personal content its a mixed bag.

TLDR: i like writing a variety of headcanons & dont have a lot of harshly consistent hcs for characters. So if you have something specific you want to your own HCs, please clarify beforehand in your ask.

I will say though, the hardest line i will probably ever put in the sand when it comes to writing: in reference to X Reader content, i only write neutral readers. I will not do Xmale or Xfemale specifically. And I will only take on specifics of physical qualities (height, weight, physical quirks etc) IF ASKED, but am otherwise neutral lol

Some actual HCs because DAMN I RAMBLED A LOT & I FEEL BAD IF I DONT GIVE A LIL SOMETHIN:

- Brezziana is an active person & is 100% a morning person. She’s often one if the first ones of the group up & happy in the mornings. Because of this (and because of her own parental nature in the group) she’s also often one who makes breakfast. She’s especially skillful at making homemade biscuits & its an absolute treat to wake up to her cooking

- on top of that, shes also very caring & will do her damndest to get to know you or anyone else she meets. So she does make personalized plates of food preemptively that anyone is allowed to change. She’s rarely asked to do any of it- she just likes taking care of those she loves

- in reference to love in general, Brezz is VERY open about her love. Be it romantic or platonic, she has no shame in showing affection or letting people know she loves them. Shes a big fan of physical affection & acts of service especially. She’s also weak to personalized gifts & sentimentality so if you (or anyone) ever want to sweep her off her feet?? Get her a nice gift that means something special to her or is personal to you both.

- I dont give a shit what anyone says but this girl IS FUCKING STRONG. She definitely hits the gym & is fit. She’s able to lift a lot of the others off their feet with little issue (also upon request she may or may not have casually thrown Mihaly)

- her partner in crime is none other then Jack Rose. With both being big public figures, ya better know these 2 like to go out & stir up shit with their social medias just to lovingly tease fans

I'm bored and in a kkg brainrot mood, so i'm just gonna rant about my opinions of kakegurui ships and i will make some headcanons:

Kirasaya

Ok i had to start with them bc they're just too iconic, i think they have one of the most interesting and complex dynamics in kkg, they really got me obsessed with them, it's probably my number one kakegurui ship and the reason i started watching the show and reading the manga. Honestly yeah their relationship has some power imbalance, since sayaka is kirari's secretary, and is probably disfunctional, but contrary to what some ppl say kirasaya is not abusive, kirari never physically or emotionally abuses sayaka throughout the story. Anyway they're a 10/10, peak lesbian yearning, if they don't kiss at least one i will jump the author. Probably one of my fav ships ever, i think they're made for each other and i can't see kirasaya with anyone else, they're just so good together and their chemistry is >>>>>>

Yumary

Ok this one is kinda an unpopular opinion bc most people like yumary, but honestly i can't get invested into it, there's something in this ship that doesn't make my heart go "fuck yeah they should be gfs". Personally i don't ship yumeko with anyone bc i can't imagine her in a relationship since her main thing is being a compulsive gambler, her existence revolves around it and she forms relationships when they're useful for her gambling games. I think yumary could be friends with benefits for some time, but after a while mary would probably break it off because i don't think she can handle a sexual/romantic relationship with yumeko and after a while it would make her go nuts. A friendship between them is already messy and complicated and honestly i don't think they are compatible that way. Yes they have chemistry and there's probably some mutual attraction but to me it's a no. Also can cishet dudes stop fetishizing this ship ? My vote is 6/10, mostly bc mary doesn't seem much physically comfortable with yumeko, idk mary just seems off with her in that sense and i prefer them as gambling partners or friends.

Meariri

I honestly love this ship, especially after reading the manga, they have such an great dynamic, i think they both care about each other, they have chemistry and i think they're compatible and that their personalities compliment each other, mary is often loud and aggressive and passionate while ririka is more closed off and quiet, they're like fire and ice and this case i think the saying "opposite attract" works with them. Mary counts on ririka and i love the fact that she is so comfortable with her physically (mary is almost always the one to initiate the contact, holding her hand, touching her head, etc) and ririka gets inspired by mary to be her own person and chase her goals. Plus they're really cute together, aesthetically i find them the most attractive couple, i'll give them a solid 9/10

Itsukaede

Lmao i don't even know if this is the correct ship name for itsuki x kaede, ok i don't hate it and i think they could work as a couple, it's not my cup of tea bc m/f ships bore me, but i like their relationship, they have the kind of old married couple dynamic that always works. 6/10.

Ryomeko

I can see it happening, i don't ship it, but i don't mind it either, i'm kinda neutral about ryota x yumeko, but i think he's one of the ppl who care about yumeko the most in that academy (with also mary ofc), the ship is boring bc ryota is bland (he's a good guy don't get me wrong and he defo doesn't deserve the hate he gets) and as i said previously i don't ship yumeko with anyone. Sorry i gotta give it 5/6 out of 10

Yumedari

Ok i love midari but just like yumeko, i don't ship her with anyone bc i see her as someone who's too much unstable for relationships, but i know that canonically she loves/likes/is attracted to yumeko so i don't hate this ship, i think it's decent, the only problem is that yumeko hates midari. Still i think that since they're the most insane mfs in that school somehow this ship could work. 6/10

Yuridari

Again midari in my eyes is kinda unshippable, but this ship is not bad at all, they would have that kind of bickering married couple dynamic like itsuki and kaede, i like it but it doesn't do much for me. 7/10

Ryomary

Jsjssjsksk i looked the name of mary x ryota's ship on wiki so if it sounds weird it's bc i don't know their ship name and i have looked at the first site google gave me. This ship is hard no, mainly bc ryota is very bland and i consider mary a lesbian (i read that she is a canon lesbian but idk if it's confirmed by the author, let's say lesbian mary is just my hc) so shipping her with men feels like a hate crime to me, mary is for the girls only, 4/10.

Tsumary

They are kind of cute together right ? I think they're adorable, tsuzura is mary's first love and i think that someone like her would make mary very happy. I still haven't finished kkg twin, so my opinion on tsuzura is incompleted and it might change, i don't hate her but i find her character a little basic/boring so even though this ship is cute it doesn't make me fall in love with them. 7/10 bc probably also tsuzura had feelings for mary and they have a healthy dynamic, you can see they love each other.

Midasaya

I enjoy this crackship, i know that they both like different people but i headcanon that they were together during middle school or that midari had at least a small crush on sayaka during that time, before kirari came to hyakkaou i like to think that they explored their sexuality together so midari was probably sayaka's first kiss, her first date, etc, so they would have history together and we also see that midari knows sayaka bc her character is described through her pov during tower of doors. I find this ship pretty funny bc sayaka is always so serious and composed and midari is a ball of chaos. 7/10

Yumesaya

This is another crackship i don't mind and find hilarious, yeah i'm a huge kirasaya stan but i'm also a multishipper and sayaka deserves all the girls in the world, so the more the merrier. I like to think this ship as one sided love in which yumeko sort of pines after sayaka and i think it would be very interesting to see kirari being jeaulous that sayaka is getting yumeko's attention. We saw jeaulous/protective sayaka in kakegurui, but i would also like to see how kirari reacts when someone tries to take sayaka away from her, it would be really interesting. Obv this would create some tension between kirasaya and also between kirari and yumeko, almost a sort of love triangle dynamic. My opinion is that yumeko is just too unstable to settle down, also they both probably would get bored/lose interest in each other after the heat of the moment. 6/10

Ririsaya

Sorry but i really can't see it happening not even if i squint, but i really enjoy the ririsaya fanfictions and i think those works are pretty great even though i don't ship them very much. It would be interesting if both twins were in love with sayaka and there was some tension/coldness between them for a while bc they liked the same girl (maybe i read too many fanfictions). My headcanon is that both sayaka and ririka had a crush on each other when they first knew each other and for sayaka it was probably pretty confusing bc she already had feelings for kirari. I see them as friends, 7/10

Yumemisaori

Again idk if this is the correct name of the ship, many said that yumemi and saori are a healthier/mentally stable version of kirasaya and i agree. the dynamics are similar bc we have the secratary that is willing to do everything for her boss and the relationship is a little more balanced, i think they would be very cute together, but sadly they had very little interactions and if i could see more of them i would probably ship them even more. I like them 7/10.

Sachiko x Mary

I didn't even find a ship name for this couple, so they must be pretty unpopular, i like both characters and their antagonistic dyanamic is very interesting, but i don't ship them much bc i think mary needs/wants someone who is completely different from sachiko, who wants to make mary her pet and mary is someone who cares very much about her freedom, her indipendence and wants to make her own choices and this completely clashes with sachiko's extremely sadistic and domineering nature. I prefer them as enemies who have some sexual tension or enemies with benefits or one night stand adventure, but nothing more. 5/6 out of 10 bc the only mary ship i really love is meariri and i also like tsuzumary a bit.

Sachiko x Mikura

This is probably one of the most unhealthy relationships in kakegurui, but i kinda like it. Their dyanmic is pretty much vertical with sachiko who has all the power and makes mikuro do everything she wants and mikura who is completely obsessed and devoted to sachiko (my opinion is that she developed a sort of stockholm syndrome towards sachiko). I think that someone like sachiko could never have genuine romantic relationships bc of her extremely sadistic nature, she sees ppl like toys to break and what she enjoys the most is seeing ppl suffer, so the only compatible person with sachiko is someone extremely masochistic like mikura. Giving them a 6/7 out of 10 bc their interactions are fun/interesting and spice things up.

Rin x Ibara and Yumeko x Kirari

Hard no to both of them, i don't ship incest, yall can do what you want but personally it's a huge no for me. When i first started watching the anime at the beginning i thought yumeko and kirari had some sort of tension and could have been enemies to lovers (lmaoo i was so naive), but then i discovered they were cousins and i saw more kirasaya interactions so i got completely turned off by this ship. 3/10 to both of these ships.

Sachiko x Sakura

Now this ship is very sexy, idk why i like it but i do, yes i don't see sachiko with anyone besides mikura, but this pairing is not bad at all, even though it's a crackship. I think they would be rivals with benefits and would argue a lot and then make out/have hot sex. 7/10 (maybe it's too high but since these are just my opinions i won't be objective)

Mary x kirari

Uhm is there really someone out there who ships them ? Yeah i thought they had some sexual tension in s1 with that tea scene, but it's a no from me, i don't like it and i don't think they're compatible in any way, i can't see kirari with anyone who isn't sayaka. 4/10

There are some jonsa shippers who like Dany and think she is not going to be a villain. I have read their takes and most of them blame Sansa for revealing Jon's secret is her being selfish. They believe that Jon has right to get angry over her. I don't know if they really care about Sansa. Some of them believe that Jon did love Dany but they are not going to last. They are stuck on Sansa lying to Jon in s6 terming it betrayal.

Well, to be fair, if you take the scripts seriously, that is exactly what D&D wanted them to think. D&D were not critical of Jon at any point, even in the script, so I'm sure in their heads Sansa did mistreat Jon, and he is a saint for protecting her in spite of her betrayal.

A lot of Jonsas don't think D&D intended Jonsa to be romantic, or, if they did at one point, they dropped it before the final season, but even if they view J/D as genuine, they reject the idea of blaming Sansa for anything because that is total bs!

My understanding is that most of the original fans who wrote the first Jonsa fics viewed it as a crack ship and not only didn't think it was canon, they didn't want it to be canon. This being my first fandom experience and first "shipping" experience, I didn't understand all of this, but by the time I was active, the fandom was very splintered. There were multishippers (people who liked both Jonsa and jxnerys), book jonsas who thought show jonsas were ridiculous, show jonsas who thought book jonsas were gross, etc etc. The divide between canon and fanon shippers was so notable that I saw Dany stans/jxnerys shippers who were aware of it all saying how sad it was that Jonsa got hijacked by canon shippers and they feel sorry for all the nice people who view it as a crack ship. Oops!

As for blaming Sansa for s6, I know it was a popular narrative that she was trying to get Jon killed so that she could be Queen, but I think that was debunked in s7 and s8 when all she wanted was Jon home and safe, and she fully intended for him to be KitN again. And, I don't know how anyone could actually think that any of Sansa's actions were morally equivalent to Jon's in s7-8. I know D&D may have thought she was a dark character, but Sansa was loyal to her family and people and did what was necessary to protect them. Jon (if you're operating by the interpretation you mention in your ask) betrayed her trust, betrayed her people's trust, lied to their faces about it, refused to see the red flags Dany was rubbing his face in, dragged people who had fought for freedom under Robb and to defeat the Others to install a queen they didn't want on a throne they didn't care about, and then had them commit war crimes all in the name of luuuuurrrvvvveeee. There's just nothing Sansa did that is that bad! You can’t keep a straight face and argue that Jon’s wrongs didn’t go far beyond her own.

Unfortunately, I have the chronic problem of coming to my own conclusions, and nothing D&D say will ever convince me that Sansa did anything wrong, or that Mr Kit H. is that bad of an actor. I deliberately watched some of his other stuff including one or two very shitty movies to check. lmao! I don't know what was going on, but I don’t believe that D&D thought they executed an epic romance in Jxnerys or that Jonsa was strictly platonic. And I don't think they introduced all of that "be smarter" stuff in s7 only to make Jon dumber than anyone on the entirety of the show. Like, if they had just mentioned Robb, sure. Because then the idea would be that he went and pulled a Robb so it’s ironic. But to bring the Mance parallel into it on top of that...please. There was intention there that doesn't work with what they claim their goal was. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyway, if you don't believe in Dark Dany, I do think it's easy to direct anger at Sansa that isn't proportional to her "crimes" because Sansa was presented as the antagonist to Dany who D&D framed sympathetically until the very end of the show. I can't say these people don't love the characters as they see them or the ship as they view it, and I did write a little "Dark!Sansa" fic with a bit of the "she is a manipulative baddie" vibe because it is entertaining (link), but I think that idea, like Jon loving D, was created to hide Dark Dany, and in the end, we were meant to realize it was all nonsense. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Also, you aren’t really welcome in the fandom unless you denounce jonsa and dislike show Sansa, so sometimes people feel compelled to say that stuff or be excommunicated and unfortunately, that isn’t an exaggeration. 😂

Honestly it's nice to see that not everyone thinks of Lukanette shippers as toxic and cruel Adrien salters. I myself am a Lukanette shipper, but I has nothing to do with not liking Adrien bc I do like him, I just think Luka and Marinette fit together personality wise and Adrien and Marinette... idk I'm just really not as into the love square as I used to be. And there's nothing wrong with that I just find it a little hurtful when people, especially anti-salters, act like it is because Lukanette (and just Luka himself) is "toxic" for reasons that I honestly can't bother to remember bc some of that stuff is super far fetched imo. Anyway sorry for rambling, I guess my point is that I agree with your post and it made me a little happy and I hope you have a nice day:)

I don't necessarily blame people for avoiding Lukanette fics and the Lukanette tag, because a lot of them are salt written in bad faith, and some people aren't multishippers. But that means that the only Lukanette content these people see is salt that is maliciously shoved into their faces, and that's not fair to them but it makes them resentful of Lukanette in general and that's not the vibe.

I'm not big on Lukanette in general, and in canon it definitely wouldn't be narratively satisfying. But that doesn't mean that it's all bad and that AUs can't be narratively satisfying, or that fanfiction is inherently salty. Especially because a lot of Lukanette shippers are also Lukadrinette shippers, which is rarely if ever Adrien salt? (Also Adrien/Luka/Kagami/Marinette.)

Like, I dunno. I just see a lot of people being dicks to all Lukanette shippers when a minority of Lukanette shippers are actually guilty for the crimes which all of them are accused. And then, again, they go around using the same rhetoric against Luka that they claim to be against for Adrien.

I don't like the love square as much as I used to either, tbh. I'm more into DJWifi these days. And I don't see that as any different from you being less into the love square these days in favor of Lukanette, and I think a lot of people who aren't multishippers don't understand that way of thinking. If you ship two things that conflict and you like one more than the other, it's entirely akin to enjoying one ship over another if they don't conflict whatsoever. And so there are dickish Lukanette shippers who don't understand that, so they think that anyone who ships the love square must dislike Luka, or at least dislike Lukanette, and they respond in turn by salting on Adrien. But there are some dickish love square shippers who think that anyone who ships Lukanette must dislike the love square, and they respond in turn by salting on Luka.

I just..... Bleh. I have a Luka-centered fic I should write because I really outta be trying to counteract Luka salt with sugar rather than placing the salt elsewhere. Maybe I can write some Lukanette once the inspiration strikes

A pairing that I love: Merlin x pretty much everyone. I am a chronic multishipper. Give me a bit of Gwaincelot, Perelyan, Freylin, Mergwen, Morgwen... even a bit of Merthur to spice things up 😉

Obikin is definitely my Star Wars OTP but I am a multishipper! I love a lot of other ones such as Anidala (but I ship it like it's not canon, ya feel?), Obidala, Obianidala, Rexwalker, Obimaul (in a comedic way) and Obitine (though I only trust @twilightofthe to write it).

Caroline was on her knees, eyes following Paladin as he circled around her. Her back and legs ached from keeping still in the awkward position, but her hammering heart held her still. Paladin brushed a hand lightly across her shoulder blades, just to see what would happen, and she flinched.

“I think it’s about time you give the world another show, don’t you?” He leaned in to speak into her ear, and she closed her eyes against it. His hand grabbed the top of her head, turning her face towards him. “I asked you a question, doll.”

“Arguing with you gets me nowhere,” she muttered, venom in her eyes, “but I won’t stoke your ego.”

He smiled. “We’ll see about that. Learning these lessons takes time, but I’m sure you’ll come around.”

He released her and moved in front of her, eyes studying her submissive figure. “I must say, you look good like this, doll.”

“And you’d look good behind bars.”

Paladin laughed. “I’d look good anywhere. And I thought you said arguing with me got you nowhere.”

“Well now you’ve just annoyed me.”

He hummed, moving towards her suddenly and grabbing her chin. She flinched harshly, then kept her eyes on the floor as her face burned with humiliation.

“Look at me, doll. You don’t get to avoid me while I teach you your place. You are mine, remember?”

Her eyes flicked up to him, wide and scared. “Yes.”

“Good.” He released her, but she knew to keep her chin up, eyes obediently trained on him. “Now, answer my question. Are you ready to give the world a show?”

“I-”

He tilted his head, dangerously calm and attentive, and tears pricked her eyes.

“Yes, Paladin.”

“There you are, doll.” Paladin knelt in front of her, hands moving to either side of her head and twining into her hair. She barely had time to brace herself before his power moved in.

Hugo had bolted the door, so he climbed out the window. In the area that he lived in, he couldn’t risk forgoing that extra protection. A guy in his psychology class said that his apartment had been broken into and his studying resources had been stolen. Said guy was definitely not a trustworthy source and tried to fake getting hit by a bus so his tuition would be free, but textbooks were expensive and some people were desperate. Not even a self-proclaimed vigilante was a match for a desperate college student. As a desperate college student himself, Hugo was well aware of this fact.

His dark gray vigilante costume didn’t block out the wind very well, but he was still proud of himself for making it. It was like a final homage to David. Hugo couldn’t help but wonder if he’d be proud, if he could see him. Probably not, he decided, and words rose to his mind unbidden.

All you can do is copy and paste, Hugo. That’s all you’ve ever been able to do. So why don’t you stop pretending you’re something special!

The memory of their last fight still stung him. It had taken months to shake the words off enough to take a step towards his goals. David had had faith in the world, something that amazed Hugo, who lost that long ago. He spent far too long wondering when it was that David had lost faith in him.

He shook himself off and walked along the fire escape, hopping from one to the next and surveying the ground beneath. This part of the city was always crawling with crime, and if Paladin couldn’t stoop down to help those with no voice or influence in the city, then someone else would have to.

Suddenly, an alarm pierced the air. Hugo took off running towards it.

Caroline remained more lucid this time, which she wasn’t sure was a good thing. It did mean that she was actually aware of what she was doing, though. She- or maybe Paladin, through her. But no, this was her fault. She shouldn’t have let it come to this. She bore the blame- was robbing a bank in what seemed like a shabby, poor part of town, which seemed like an objectively stupid thing to do. Wouldn’t it make more sense to go after a bigger bank? Or maybe Paladin was experimenting, getting her known as a criminal before he could go after the bigger crimes?

She felt sick.

An alarm was triggered at the bank, wailing through the air and piercing her eardrums. She would have instinctually cringed back had she not been being controlled. She was using anger to cover up her fear and horror.

Suddenly, a dark shape fell out of the sky and landed next to her. Her breath snagged, but to her surprise, it wasn’t Paladin. It was someone several years younger, with messier, lighter hair, and a gray suit rather than Paladin’s black with cream detailing.

“I’m sorry to be a bother, but I’m afraid I must ask you to stop.” He smiled casually, almost apologetically, as if he really did hate to interrupt.

She, of course, couldn’t respond. Actually, she hardly paused her movements as she worked on opening the vault, which she thought was quite rude.

“Ma’am?” The interloper waved his hand in front of her face. “I don’t want to tell you how to do your job- or, um, hobby- but I would really recommend robbing a different bank.”

Paladin finally made her turn her head to look it him, and she attentively studied his deep gray eyes, a small quirk to his lip.

“Anything you’d manage to collect here would barely buy you a nice dinner, and if that’s your concern, I’d be happy to take you to one myself.” He winked flippantly.

Paladin very strongly disliked him, which made Caroline like him more. Then she flicked her wrist at him and he was thrown backwards into the wall. He crumpled to the floor, coughing. Caroline revolted, pushing back against Paladin’s power with all her might. Her own power remained gathered within her from the recent use, and taking Paladin by surprise gave her a big advantage.

Just then Paladin chose to make his entrance, dropping in dramatically from the ceiling. He was staring at her in aggravation, the only sign of the invisible war inside of her.

“I’ll give you one chance to surrender,” Paladin announced, the words a threat to her in more ways than one.

The boy in gray had stood up and walked over, making a face at Paladin. “I have this handled. Don’t you have a party to attend or something?”

Paladin snarled at him, and this newfound distraction gave Caroline just enough leeway to break through.

She stared desperately at the boy in gray. “Please don’t leave me.” Her voice was small and scared, but it still made both the men freeze. The gray one’s lips parted in confusion, brow ruffled beneath his mask as he studied her. Paladin looked furious. His power crushed her in, suddenly, overwhelmingly, and in less than a second she was once again encased within blankness.

Caroline didn’t notice the boy in gray’s struggle to stay by her as she fought Paladin. She didn’t hear the times he tried to speak to her. She didn’t see Paladin finally threatening him, or the boy’s final reluctant glance over his shoulder.

She only knew that he did leave her.

i love him. hes such a stinky nasty gremlin boy and i have thought about him too much tbh. hes my favourite bnha chara, if it aint obvious with the copious amount of dabi shit thats been rbed onto this blog and the fact that dabi appears in almost all my bnha fics. but yes. hes an awesome funky wee devil man. i want him to get away with all his crimes. go kingggg.

oh backstory. definitely backstory. oK THIS MIGHT BE AN UNPOPULAR OPINION but i kind of didnt really like how his backstory was revealed and things. i think this was also the time i was kind of dropping off from bnha so the added disappointment kind of...just fuelled me to be even less invested.

Multishipping

sakura multishipping isn’t a super serious thing, people usually have their main ships that they fully believe in and the rest are just for fun. not to mention the multishipping often includes a lot of femslash like sakukarin, sakuhina, and sakuino. i’d say it’s often easier to ship sakura with characters she hasn’t interacted with much precisely because it’s more open-ended; it lends itself to creativity.

it’s harder to multiship sasuke because sasuke is explicitly shown to be not attracted to ino and karin, and SNS would be more crack/casually multishipped by SS fans (it already is a bit) if the SNS fandom wasn’t so shitty (SNS content often comes w/ anti-ending bullshit). a lot of people OT3 narusasusaku. SH is aggravating again because it usually comes with anti-sakura bullshit, and other sasuke ships are just crack like a lot of sakura ships.

those remaining crack ships i guess would be things like nejisasu, sasuten, sasugaa, taka/sasu, akatsuki/sasu etc. which are more palatable for SS fans but generally less interesting than Uchiha/Sakura ships or femslash Sakura ships due to Sakura’s relationship with an Uchiha (Sasuke) and friendships with women. Sasuke just doesn’t have as many relationships as Sakura so there’s legitimacy to people citing Sakura being friends w/ many people as a reason for multishipping. sasosaku holds interest because of Sasori acknowledging Sakura’s strength and his change of heart, but it’s just crack. one could argue that Sakura is shown to be not attracted to Lee, but it was prior to knowing him, unlike w/ sasu/karin, and leesaku developed an actual bond unlike sasu/ino.

sorry for the novel but i just wanted to make a case for multishippers and why it’s often easier for people to multiship sakura than sasuke. it basically boils down to sasuke not having as many positive relationships and interactions, sasuke being solidly disinterested in specific characters (sakura’s not quite as solidly disinterested), and more creative interest in and legitimacy to sakura crackships.

Thanks for the submission, but I’m gonna have to disagree with a lot of this.

I know that it’s not serious and it’s just for fun, but it just often annoys me that so many people in the fandom are perfectly fine with shipping Sakura with the entire male cast, and yet think it’s a crime against nature to ship Sasuke with any other girl. Furthermore, the reasons I’ve been given serve as no justification at all. I’ve since been given reasons privately that make sense and I can agree with (and I’d like to thank that person again), but the ones below? Not so much.

I’d say it’s often easier to ship Sakura with characters she hasn’t interacted with much precisely because it’s more open-ended; it lends itself to creativity.

So why can’t the same be done with Sasuke? What’s wrong with shipping him with characters that he hasn’t interacted with much? Why do the Sakura crackships lend themselves to creativity but the Sasuke ones don’t?

Are you saying that Sakura was shown to be attracted to all of the guys she’s multishipped with? I don’t understand this point at all, and if anything it goes against what you’re trying to say. Out of the two of them, Sakura was the one who demonstrated unwavering romantic attraction and devotion to one person and that was Sasuke; she was never shown to be attracted to anyone else, ever.

I can’t agree with this - That has to do with the fans. There’s nothing inherently anti-Sakura about the SH ship itself so I don’t see why that would have any bearing on whether people can ship it or not. Besides, by that logic, I can just as easily ask why no fans find certain Sakura ships aggravating due to plenty of anti-Sasuke bullshit? Like SakuraxLee for example? There are plenty of SakuraxLee fans who hate Sasuke’s guts, and ship her with Lee precisely because he’d apparently treat her like a “Queen”, rather than Sasuke who was just an “asshole” to her, and so on and so forth. There’s yet another discrepancy in treatment.

Why does Sakura having a relationship with Sasuke suddenly make it easier for her to be multishipped with people like Indra and Shisui? What makes any of those Sasuke ships “less interesting”? Especially when considering that the entirety of those relationships are made up because they’re crack, so the extent to which people would find them interesting would wholly depend on the creativity of the person who ships them. It would have absolutely nothing to do with the characters themselves.

I’ll repeat the following from my previous ask on this topic because it’s every bit as relevant here as it was back then - What relationships?

Sakura almost broke Sai’s jaw when he badmouthed Sasuke, and she later wanted to do a lot worse when he called her an old hag. The rest of their interactions did nothing to build a relationship.

The deepest conversations she’s had with Shikamaru were again, about Sasuke. Other than those instances, she’s said like 5 words to the guy.

She’s said like 5 words to Kiba.

She’s said like 5 words to Neji

Gaara tried to kill her in what was essentially their only interaction.

She and Sasori tried to kill each other on the battlefield.

The same can be said for Madara.

She’s never said a word to Itachi in canon

She’s never said a word to Indra.

Sasuke has more of a relationship with Karin than Sakura has with all of the above characters combined.

I don’t know what relationships people keep on referencing every time they make this point. Saying 5 words to someone or punching their teeth down their throats don’t make a relationship. Unless people wanna tell me that trying to kill each other on the battlefield or having no interactions at all makes for a great relationship? Because in that case, Sasuke has plenty of relationships.

sasosaku holds interest because of Sasori acknowledging Sakura’s strength and his change of heart, but it’s just crack

Ino, Karin, Temari and Tenten have acknowledged Sasuke’s strength too, so why isn’t he multishipped with any of them? Because he showed no attraction to them? Yeah the same can be said for Sakura towards Sasori, Shikamaru, Sai, Lee, Naruto, Gaara, Itachi, Kiba, Indra, Madara, Neji, Kakashi and all the rest of them. But that apparently never stopped anyone.

Additionally, Temari and Tenten demonstrated actual canonical attraction to Sasuke at one point, with Temari thinking to herself that Sasuke was pretty handsome, and Tenten thinking that he was cute and cool:

That immediately takes SasukexTenten and SasukexTemari out of the crackship category due to the ships at least featuring canonical romantic attraction, and therefore makes these ships more legitimate than the vast majority of the Sakura crackships for that very reason. You’d think this would make it that much easier for the ships to lend themselves to people’s creativity since they’d be able to formulate all sorts of different ways to develop the relationship based on that foundation. But that doesn’t happen.

One could argue that Sakura is shown to be not attracted to Lee, but it was prior to knowing him, unlike w/ sasu/karin, and leesaku developed an actual bond unlike sasu/ino.

Sakura was never shown to be attracted to Lee at all, before or after getting to know him. That’s a fact; there’s absolutely no argument to be had there.

You find that Lee and Sakura developed an actual bond? I find the use of the term “bond” here to be very, very loose when describing their relationship. They are comrades and are on good terms with each other, but to say that they developed a bond with each other? That’s a stretch. But even if we entertain the thought, Sasuke still had a far more prominent bond in the manga with Karin than Sakura had with Lee, for reasons which I mentioned in my last ask regarding this topic, so that’s not a justification.

It basically boils down to sasuke not having as many positive relationships and interactions, sasuke being solidly disinterested in specific characters (sakura’s not quite as solidly disinterested), and more creative interest in and legitimacy to sakura crackships.

But firstly, as demonstrated above, “positive relationships and interactions” cannot be used as a reason here when considering Sakura is multishipped heavily with Itachi, Kiba, Neji, Gaara, Madara, Indra, Shino, Sasori and many others, the vast majority of which are devoid of either positive interactions, or any interactions altogether.

Secondly, Sakura was also solidly disinterested. She was very very clear about where her romantic attraction was. She doesn’t have to tell someone to back off in order to demonstrate solid disinterest in terms of romantic affection.

Lastly, there is no legitimacy with regards to crackships. They’re described as crack precisely because they’re not legit and they have absolutely no solid basis. So Sakura’s crackships aren’t any more “legitimate” than Sasuke’s are.

This is why when I hear it doesn't matter what people ship leave each other alone I become suspicious cos 1 that is a rhetoric that IH are going to use to blame us for the bulk of the fandom drama by the way try it IH fans we still have receipts from 2 years ago and beyond we'll see who's fanbase is "mostly" bad then. 2 it kind of does matter who's doing what exactly because it's not fair to fans who never crosstag get hate anyway are told to leave others alone when that's all they did to start

The whole shipping fandom is a mess all sides had/have shitty people and unfortunately it will always be like this, sorry but after years I can’t delude myself thinking things will ever change. I am all for the ship and let ship mindset, like I’ll stay in my lane, you’ll stay in yours and we have fun liking/disliking whatever we want, you don’t like IR? Good! Say it even 100 times but do it in your lane, that’s great! You are not here to cather to other people feels and have to shut your mouth in your own blog bc someone may feel attacked u dislike a fake ship.

On the whole IH/IR “shipping war” mess…..oooooh boy did I see some shit, so much of it and not even all of it, you said we have the recepiest of 2 years ago? Oh but we have years of receipts lol that’s why I will never take IH seriously when they say they are the good guys while we are the bad ones and love to act like victims all the time, like no, no, no please shut up, that’s only gonna make you look stupid bc your fandom is shitty as much as ours, saying that, hoping people are new to the fandom and will believe you is just once again a shitty thing to do, way to go! That’s the problem with the IH fandom, they always make excuses but, but the IR fandom did, the IR said, the IR made, the IR, IR, IR, IR! Like stooooop your fandom did the same things too if not worse, bc while the IR fandom many times called the “bad apples” out on their own and tried to solve problems with said “bad apples”, on the other side the IH fandom, always tried to excuse everything with the “but the IR fandom did it first!” Or some shit like that. I don’t know how many times Ichirukis exposed other shitty ichirukis behavior, but when we pointed out to the IH fandom shitty things some of them made, rest assured there were always people on their side ready to not help and ready to defend the people that did the shitty behavior, liars, art tief, plagiarist, trolls and so on, while even blaming IR for being mean for telling the truth. That’s another problem, so many times IR are called BAD even when they do nothing bad, I mean I don’t know how many times I saw IH whine that IR made Bl/each blogs that didn’t support their ship, like that is some crime? It’s their blog? Make one you will like yourself? Or calling bad people bc they dared make a post saying the don’t like the IH ship? Eh? Whut? Also the whole “IR fandom is bad” so everyone deserves the hate? Like what? Everytime I hear ir did, ir said, ir was bad and them playing the old victim card, it’s always bc they are excusing their side spreading hate and IR getting it, like it’s somehow deserved, even if the people getting the hate NEVER attacked anyone. So I don’t know it all sound stupid af to me.

There is so much one can deal with, I was in the fandom for 4 years but was always on the sideline luckly + 2 years of hell here on tumblr and it’s about time I came to the conclusion “I don’t want to interact with the IH fandom” end of story. All the time I have to see all the IH that preach well, like let’s all get along and let’s not spread hate (even if IR were so bad and attacked so many fanartist and shippers) while ignoring that they follow the same blogs that attacked IR artists and shippers and maybe even joined on it? All the blogs that did the shittiest things still being followed by them? Yeah no if that’s the basic shipper of let’s all get along, nah I’d rather not. Have fun, I’ll never bother you and I hope you’ll never bother me.

I know it’s not the whole fandom (is this thing always necessary to point out?) I know there are so many that just want to ship their ship and have fun, there are also so many multishippers, and so on, many that can follow each other just fine, and that’s great, good for them.

I'm not upset, I'm confused.

I have *checks list* over 180 WIP ideas, and at least uh, 50? that have writing files attached to them, not counting the 23 I have posted (most of them short and written in that returning fandom feel rush in 2016 and that I plan on finishing after I hit one million words and my one hundredth DCMK fic)

Snippets of what, anon? Of what? It's so vague as to be perfunctorily useless; if you want the goods, you're gonna have to be more specific.

Do I post the snippet I wrote as a free writing exercise where Kaito is in hair curlers and a peignoir a la Blanche de Golden Girls?

What about the heishin soulmate fic i started in 2017 as a response to the soulmate asks and just never finished because I couldn't find the right vibe for it?

Or the fic where Shinichi gets obsessed with Doyle's The Lost World instead of Sherlock Holmes and that leads to the adoption of a ferocious and sapient baby t-rex that solves crime?

or any of the dozens of equally useless and/or indulgent ideas that get hundreds of words here and there but languish in WIP hell for all eternity?

I am a multishipper with a focus that jumps all over the place.

Happy Yuletide! This is my first year taking part, so I’m sorry if this letter is missing anything. All my prompts are just suggestions - if you have different ideas, feel free to run with it! Also I’m normally a multishipper so I’m generally easy-going about pairings.

My AO3 username is centreoftheselights.

Likes

Focus on female characters and their relationships, either shippy or platonic.

Non-traditional relationship dynamics, including consensual polyamory and queerplatonic relationships.

Hurt/Comfort, particularly where the Hurt aspect is emotional or psychological. The Comfort can be shippy or platonic.

Fluff, domesticity and established relationships.

Mutual pining and dramatic misunderstandings.

Introspection and character-focussed works.

AUs and tropes are great, but subverting the “usual” for an AU or trope is even better!

Explorations of in-universe queerness in AUs (e.g. A/B/O where the characters don’t fit typical gender roles, multiple alien civilisations with different ideas of sexuality).

Things I love about this canon: Snark, complex relationships, dealing with Real World Issues without getting preachy, sex positivity, characters who are flawed but still trying their best.

Prompts & Ideas:

I would love to see an exploration of some of Maeve’s relationships with the other women on the show - for instance, her relationship with her sister, her complicated feelings about moving in with Anna, her great friendship with Aimee, or what happens when she finally meets Jean.

Maeve in an F/F relationship! Realising her feelings for Aimee run deeper than she thought, enemies to lovers with Ruby, a snark-filled courtship with Ola, or any other pairing that sparks your fancy. This could also include Maeve exploring LGBTQ+ identities and culture outside of a relationship!

I’m also fine with Maeve being shipped with any of her canon love interests or if you prefer her single.

This fandom is an exception to my High School AU DNW, given that the canon is set in a high school!

The Strange Case Of The Starship Iris (Podcast)

Characters: Sana Tripathi, Arkady Patel, Brian Jeeter, Krejjh

Things I love about this canon: Found family feels, Be Gay Do Crime, fighting fascism in space!, Arkady and Violet being cutely awkward around each other, Brian and Krejjh being couple goals, taking care of each other in all different ways.

Prompts & Ideas:

Pre-Canon era! What did the OG Iris crew get up to before Violet joined the ship?

A variation on the above: how have things changed for the OG gang since Violet, and later Park & McCabe, joined the crew?

Or really anything about the crew’s relationship is fine with me!

The Locked Tomb Series | Gideon the Ninth Series - Tamsyn Muir

Characters: Camilla Hect, Palamedes Sextus, Dulcinea Septimus

Things I love about this canon: swords and skeletons, twists that hit you like a punch in the gut, MEMES!, everyone here is a messed-up asshole (affectionate).

Prompts & Ideas:

Any exploration of these three navigating their relationship. Are they an OT3? A polyamorous V with Palamedes in the middle? A V with Camilla in the middle? Are Camilla and Palamedes in a queerplatonic relationship? Do they get each other immediately? Do they dance around awkwardly for ages trying to figure things out? All of these sound good to me!

AUs are great! Modern day AUs, the canon AUs from HtN, AU where Dulcinea made it to Canaan House, or anything else you can come up with. I love seeing these characters reinterpreted across different worlds.

This fandom is an exception to my “gore” and “death” dnws, canon-typical necromancy shenanigans are fine!

DNW “on-screen” main character death. (References to canon/past deaths are okay.)

Dames & Dragons (Podcast)

Characters: Corbin, Fran, Slake, Maeri

Things I love about this canon: the worldbuilding, any time when the teens are socially awkward, “roll to fall in love”, everyone teasing each other - but also the contrast between the fun/awkward moments and everyone getting to be badass!

Prompts & Ideas:

Almost anything with these four interacting and being friends. I just love these awkward teens with my whole heart.

I would be happy with any combination of these 4 characters for shipping, or purely gen fic. Canon ships (e.g. Fran/Falen) are also fine.
