Amy the Sonic Heroes fan💕

What if they introduced Amy as a fan girl in the films (turning the slander into an interesting trait).

Amy's psychic abilities (yes I like to believe she is psychic) are more advanced to the point she can see fragments of the past and future. this allows her to see many of the gang's adventures and she quickly becomes a fan (she even made her own fan t-shirt, kinda like fleetway Amy).

Despite wanting to join them on their adventures she felt like she would hold them back (Amy doesn’t give herself too much credit). She was content with viewing their adventures from the sidelines until she receives a vision that could spell disaster for her heroes. So she set off to help them the best she can and maybe get an autograph along the way.

In her arc, she would go from a fan/outsider to a friend and team member.

She starts off putting the team on a pedestal calling them by their hero names (Blue justice, Double threat, and Red warrior) and mentioning their feats. As the adventure goes on she realizes they're just like her, making mistakes and still figuring things out (sonic needs a certain someone to help hold the team together). Eventually, she starts treating them like friends and calls them by their names or friendly nicknames. In return, the team does the same while also encouraging her to give herself more credit.

by the end, she proves to herself and the team that she can be a valuable member of the team (she is the heart of the team).

top left- Amy's first encounter with sonic and company (Amy: Oh my Chaos you guys are Sonic Heroes!!😍)

bottom left- The gang's reaction to Amy their first fan. Tails is flattered and surprised to have a fan (Tails: Gosh I didn’t think I would get fans like you guys) while Knuckles reassures and praises him (Knuckles: Well of course fox who wouldn't be amazed by your feats). Getting another fan for Sonic adds to his ego but this is different he can't help but find his new pink fan kinda cute. This makes Sonic nervous (Sonic: W-w-well, of course, I'm great! but YOur great too!! I mean I don’t k-know you but I-I know we could be great together...😳 I MEAN team!! team! Great as a team! you want to join our tribe...😬) .

bottom right- During one of their battles Amy's shirt gets ruined and she is upset because she handmade it. Sonic notices and has an idea later to make it up to her.

top right- To give Amy a warm welcome by recreating her shirt with the addition of her symbol to represent her being a part of the team. Sonic choose a heart to symbolize Amy, reasoning that she is the heart of the team that helped hold them together and those that were lost (Shadow). Knuckles being knuckles questions if this also has anything to do with how he feels about Rose. Sonic being Sonic denies this and gets into a messy fight with Knuckles that poor Tails get caught in between. by the end, Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails are covered in ink/paint as they nervously (minus knuckles) present their messy gift to their new team member. Amy is overwhelmed by the effort.

Bonus:

I think it would be cute/funny if Amy accidentally breaks the fourth wall by mentioning things that didn’t happen yet (or stuff that happened from the games).

so, really, regardless of whether gwen was already dead or not, the snap is a reality. if she was alive or dead, it doesn't matter, so if the shock of the fall didn't kill her, the snap would've.

i kind of don't know why norman would say she was dead before the webbing reached her. it seems more in norman's diabolical brand to double down and tell peter that his webbing IS what killed gwen. but i think maybe this is another case of the writers and artists not being on the same page - same as how it's described as the george washington bridge

headcanon that i guess in 616 the brooklyn bridge is called the george washington bridge. sure. why not.

i figure the gwen "snap!" thing is another instance of the writers and artists just being on distinctly different pages. there's this very funny workflow in comics where they kind of give the artist a rough outline of the plot and the final dialogue isn't actually written until the comic is pencilled so there's always, always miscommunications between the writers and artists. where the artist draws the brooklyn bridge but the writer thinks it would be fun if actually it was the george washington bridge after the fact because get it. norman loves money. but in the synopsis it didn't actually matter what bridge it was so the artist just drew whatever the fuck bridge!!

so. i think it's the same with the snap. in the synopsis it probably says "gwen dies in the fall" - artist interprets it as whiplash, and draws it so. writer has the idea that actually, it's the shock that kills her. synopsis says "dies in the fall" and it doesn't actually matter how. point is she dies! however the fuck!

i'm honestly so obsessed with the running gag in spider-man comics where you know the writers and artists are on different pages. in two separate rooms doing two separate things. rereading the comics is so funny when you know that weird workflow and you see a scene where the art is saying one thing and the words are saying another. almost like a 4kids dub.

that's why you get such great moments such as the panel that has caused the most outrage in my activity feed. the brown/blue pants debate.

aurghhh ok still rewatching '97 and the way guts and casca only have the room to breathe and really come to understand and care for each other in griffith's absence because he has such a strong hold over them both.... and the way their mutual dedication to him is what causes them to bicker for years (casca thinks he's not serving him well enough, guts thinks she doesn't get that he cares/how much he cares, casca's jealousy over griffith's feelings for guts, how he won his heart without even trying or being aware of it or doing anything with it) and is also a big part of what brings them together (earlier when guts deviates from the plan to save griffith and she commends him, in the cave casca opening up about griffith and her's past, showing that vulnerability, while it's mostly confrontational, leads to guts kinda getting her better, and his efforts to save and protect her (falling off the cliff with her, taking on the 100 men so she can escape, encouraging her to return to griffith so she can help him because it's what she feels she's meant to do (her dream, the direction in life guts shares and yet is questioning because of griffith's speech at the fountain, whether or not it's enough to serve him if it means he'll never be a true friend in griffith's eyes because he's not an equal), supporting the idea of her being with griffith/being his most important person like he won't because he doesn't view it as a competition like she has been since day one) leading to her realizing that he's kind of not that bad a guy and they have a lot more in common that she thought. and how the bonfire of dreams conversation is guts opening up to her in kind, the answer to her talking about how griffith saved her, how she feels. how neither of them ever call it love but it's something they know they both have for griffith. how it's something they're beginning to have for each other, different in ways they couldn't put a word to. because they're equals this time. the way griffith kind of becomes less and less important as they find other reasons to live and fight, as they become less singularly obsessed with him. how griffith is unable to stand it, guts' personhood, that agency and peer-to-peer equality he claimed to want (and perhaps truly did) that disappeared guts from his life, his plans, his side. how it barely even matters to griffith how casca changes because he never wanted her like she wanted him. god i can't fucking stand their shakespearean nonsense drama (<- hopelessly in love with their interpersonal dynamics)

He didn't save SHIT!! He took the perfectly (?) functioning humanity and ruined it! Look at it, it got Hollowing!!

Okay, I am making the 'Marika is a MILF Gwyn' jokes here and there, but 1) Marika is a bit more of a straight up cold and mean person, all things considered 2) Yet she still has enough nuance, and a lot of her actions might be written on reasonable fears and 3) Gwyn is even MORE nuanced than Marika, from what I have concluded so far! Laurence is a similar kind of sinner too. Comparison of the characters that share a trope is helpful for my thought process, so bear with me a little! With Marika I see a more direct disdain and fear before the very nature of life, cyclic and treacherous, uncontrollable, being meant to perish one day but with new life sprouting from it, and thus doing lovely things like shunning Crucible-related lifeforms. With Laurence, we have enough evidence so far that beasthood was not created by Healing Church but something already lingering in the human code after Pthumerians and Loran, so ambition to seize and control it it was risky but understandable!

But with Gwyn, we are confirmed that human nature itself is dark, undesirable an terrifying, as well as how he sorta had the chance to see it 'in action' during uniting with humans to take war on dragons. And also in Dark Souls the cyclic nature of Ages is just a fact, and it would make sense that should Age of Dark come, he and his family would be the first to go as beings of Light. It is a combination of things: his kind being in true danger and not just "risking to lose power", the treacherourness of how political allyship simply works (your today's ally country against the common enemy could tomorrow ally with someone else to start the war on YOU) and simply the not-so-metaphorical horrors of the Dark itself! is not a speculation, the dangers are RIGHT here!

Gwyn messed the natural order of humanity in a way that I personally dislike and express it on multiple occasions: trying to get rid of what's barbaric and dangerous yet natural and not accepting that there is no light without shadow, or life without death. But I also feel sympathetic because he had a legit reason to fear the darkness within men. In is not as much philosophical but a literal concept in Dark Souls lore. He acted out of fear, backed up with a precedent, and it brought the ruin to himself and everyone else. Writing this I'd say he sorta falls for the type of a person I can only like in fiction but resent in reality. I guess I don't need to explain what kind of people this is, paranoid "but for a valid reason", being "preventive" with their drastic measures.. Good intentions path to hell self-fulfilling prophesy blablabla. His specieism doesn't help his case in the slighest. Ironically, all extremely human behavior of him!

(LOL thank you based Goldmask as usual xddd) At the same time, he is not entirely corrupt with the power he seized and used to strip humanity of what was natural for them; he, in the end, committed to what he believed was better for everyone and sacrificed HIMSELF too. I can respect the cunning and machiavellian person who, in the end, is above the vanity of a 'savior' and can give themselves too, not only others. He also did share his power with some humans, showing that he can take kinda benevolent choices even with those he fears. Yeah, part of calculated risk could be there; dude gave the city and his daughter to the Pygmy to, again, preemptively avoid some animosity. But in the case with the four kings, did he HAVE to? Or Seath for that matter, who is a dragon, another species he doesn't like?

I find it hard to detect 'truly' corrupt people in Soulsborne setting in general, and yeah we can fiddle with 'nuanced character' and 'everyone is morally grey' forever and never discover THE big bad we'd love to hate. But, out of those big bads, I think he deserves the benefit of being seen as a way more nuanced character than the corrupt leader the most! It is the case where he should not have done anything, but also should not have NOT done anything.. Soulsborne is eager with placing characters in a position and knowledge where every choice is wrong and they just pick a poison for themselves (and everyone else xd). Jokes about "haha people in power moment" are still mostly jokes for me. He is sympathetic in a way not like I think I'd have done the same (let's be real, I revel in darkness gfjjghk) but in a way where I understand too much to feel negative 🤔

Funnily enough, yes! They can get sick! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I picture how skeletons, and most monsters, get sick is when they have too much or too little magic. Or their magic is just not connecting with them well that day.

The more or too little they have, the more dangerous it is for them seeing as though it could, you know, cause bad illnesses!

So because of that, Dusty or Axe would have sicknesses more often than the others, and it would hit them worse.

Sans: When Sans woke up and felt really bad, he had no idea why he felt bad. He, honestly, tried to just ignore it. Yeah, he could easily use that as an excuse to not do something but there was nothing really for him to do anyway. It wasn't even that bad... that was until he started to walk downstairs and he, suddenly, felt so dizzy that he had to sit down, resting his head against the stair behind him his eyesockets shut. What the hell was going on? Did he have too much magic? Too little? That was one of the reasons why skeletons could end up getting sick... finally, before he could even tell how long he had been laying on the stairs, he heard his datemate say "Sans? What are you doing laying on the stairs? You know Papyrus doesn't like you falling asleep there?" Sans laughs, holding up his hand slightly saying "Hey,,, I get it if he's... sick of me a-...already" he moves his hand up, covering his mouth as he coughed his bones shaking. Y/n frowns, watching, and sighs scooping him up in their arms and walking down to the couch, setting him down "There we go, you will lay here and rest. I'm gonna take care of you!" they kiss the top of his skull, then walk over to the kitchen to make him something to eat. Most likely soup. He wanted to tell them that it was fine and that they didn't need to but... he couldn't bring himself to say anything. He just nods, nuzzling into the pillow curling up slightly. Ugh... he hated getting sick. He liked the excuse to be lazy but, honestly, he would rather be doing anything else than being sick. It made him feel... weird.

Papyrus: Papyrus would try his best to ignore the fact that he was feeling sick. He had a feeling that it would be fine! If he just decides to ignore it, then nobody else would realize! Right? Nobody would notice. He quickly got out of his bed, taking a few steps then falling right back down onto the ground, laying on his chest with his head on the carpet. What the heck just happened? He heard the door open, and Y/n quickly asks "Papyrus! What happened?" they walk over, helping him sit up so he reaches up, rubbing his skull letting out a soft sound of annoyance "I am... unsure! I just tried to get up a-and I um I tripped! Yes, that is all. So sorry to worry you, but I, the Great Papyrus!, is okay" he laughs and gets up. He could feel his bones shaking, and he felt so cold. Maybe this was because of how long he had been staying awake and training? He ran out of magic. Not fully but enough to be dangerous. Well... no matter! Y/n looks at him, squinting then lets out a soft sound "I don't believe you," they say, "Are you lying to me, Papyrus? You know that that would make me really sad, right?" Papyrus pauses at that, his eyes shooting away then back at them, shifting a little "Ahhhh!" he puts his hands over his face "I believe I may have... o...overdone it with the training?" they sigh, shaking their head, and get him to lay back down "Then I'm going to be taking care of you until you feel better... you silly skelly" No! He doesn't want that. He whines and complains but his datemate wouldn't budge. Evil. His datemate is evil.

Nightmare: I don't really believe that he can get sick, he could start to feel bad if there are too many positive feelings around him at once but he doesn't, you know, get sick from that.

Killer: Annoyingly, Killer wouldn't notice that he's feeling bad until he falls out. He was working with the rest of the Bad Sanses, when suddenly, his body started to feel strange. Much too hot, and he felt like he was going to pass out and he did! When he woke up, he was laid out on the couch with a cloth over his forehead, and a few fans on him. He felt hot anyway... so hot. He lets out a soft groan, reaching up brushing the towel off his forehead mumbling under his breath "What the hell?" Where was he? Where were the others? "Finally you're awake" he looks over, seeing his datemate who walks over, putting another cloth on his forehead. It was colder, a lot colder, making shivers go through his body but it felt nice "Where are the others?" he'd ask, frowning a little. His datemate would explain that they went to do the mission after he passed out, and left Y/n to take care of him. "Then I should go as well" he pushes himself to get up but they pull him back down, squinting at him "You passed out, and you are going to be staying here until you feel better, or so help me Killer" he would have objected if he suddenly didn't start feeling so sick. It felt like he was going to throw up, which makes him just huff softly and he sighs, shutting his eye sockets resting his head down against their lap. Fine, if he has to stay here... he hopes that he would start to feel better quickly, he doesn't want to deal with this for too long.

Dusty: When Dusty woke up to feel himself feeling so hot, yet still shivering, he already knew what was wrong with him. He hated it whenever he started to feel sick, he tried to ignore it but it felt worse than normal. He couldn't even open his eyes, and his bones were hitting against each other as he shivered. This happened more often than he would like to admit, and enough for him to feel worried but he knew it was because of his high LV and magic levels. When he heard the door open, he forced his eyes open to see his datemate, and they were saying something though, strangely, he couldn't even hear what they said "I don't feel good" he mumbles, and turns to lay on his side, with his back to them. They sigh, and walk over, rubbing his shoulders softly "You feel like you have a fever, I'll tell Nightmare that you're going to have to stay home today," they say, "just know that I'm going to come back and take care of you" Then they leave the room. He lets out a little laugh at that, rolling his eyeshines. They say that like it's a bad thing... he would love for them to take care of him, that would be so sweet... so nice. He fell asleep after a little while, luckily being able to just... hopefully sleep this off. Normally he's able to deal with it pretty well so he's, honestly, a little unsure on why he can't this time.

genuinely really frustrating that people will like. choose to accept the age mistake made in assassin as canon for deathbringer when it actively contradicts older material. like. sorry idk if this is me being unfair here but genuinely like. why would you think it's intentional when deathbringer is described in main series as maybe a year or two older than glory at most, and can canonically not be any older than 9 due to stated timeline facts in the main series.

like. I get not liking glorybringer, i really do. no ship is for everyone. hell, even if assassin specifically makes you feel weird about it, so be it, to each their own. i can undertsnad that too. and yes, the glorybringer fans who think the age gap are canon are also in the wrong. they're being really gross, i don't think it's necessary to disclaim that, that feels given, but like... that only comes to my point still of like, i really don't understand taking a spin-off as canon over the main series. i don't really understand prioritizing later content as canon as opposed to the main work over spin-off as canon. why should a spin-off take jurisdiction just cuz it's newer? i feel like the older the canon is, the more likely it is the newer stuff will make mistakes. to me, in the case of a contradiction, the main series should be taken to? a spin-off is meant to supplement the main series, so shouldn't it only supplement canon that doesn't contradict?

like also, i get being frustrated it isn't fixed, but also. like. i obviously have not worked with a publisher before, but if I was writing for fucking scholastic books, no matter how well fucking beloved my series was, I don't know if I could risk being like "hey. can you pull my books from shelves and e-stores for me so that I can edit one line?" Like. I really don't think there's any reality in which I can make a corporation agree to that kind of thing, no matter what that one line may fuck up about my main story. like it's not even the only mistake she makes in the winglets. she calls deathbringer a rainwing in the flip book, but we're not hailing that as canon in retrospect, right? I don't know. I think it's unfair to presume that she's choosing not to fix it as opposed to it being an improbable to downright impossible thing to ask of a publisher. like yes tui is an incredibly successful author but i really don't know if we can presume she has that much actual sway on her publisher.

it's just really exhausting as a deathbringer enjoyer to feel like if I want to talk about and enjoy his character, and yes, that includes context given in the assassin winglet once you ignore the timeline error, i feel like I constantlyyy have to be saying "yes I think the timeline error is an error. no i don't think deathbringer is 13." like. every time i bring him up. i'm a riptide fan I'm used to it but also it's sooooo tiring to go into a character tag for a guy i like and be swamped with hatred for him and it's so much worse for deathbringer than riptide because in the deathbringer tag I have to deal with being actively accused of excusing gross shit for liking him instead of people just saying that my blorbo is boring.

This is an exceedingly random question, but it's been on my mind insomuch that I might have a fic idea stewing in my brain: do you have any thoughts on Cybertronian marriage/bonding concepts or rituals? For example, what exactly makes two people "consorts"?

Omg, I'm so excited to talk about this!! So I actually made a huge list of headcanons for bonding in TFA that I was gonna use as a reference in a fic but then I never got around to the fic. Instead, I'm just gonna toss all those rules in below because I have Some Thoughts™.

But before I get into them, I do wanna say, because TFs don't follow the same gender binary that humans do, I think bonding is seen as an act done between two bots who want to spend the rest of their existence together. There are no "roles" in a relationship, like "wife" or "husband," it is legit just "I am so madly in love with you and I want to spend every moment with you until we both die." As such, bonding for political purposes or class status isn't really a thing. The term consort really works here, since it's a gender-neutral term used to refer to the romantic companion or partner of someone.

Anyway, here's the extensive list of headcanons I threw together. I'm gonna throw a read more in there since this is super long:

You can be legally bonded without being spark bonded.

Legal bonding gives similar benefits to marriage, such as tax benefits, shared insurance, and being priority emergency contact.

Spark bonding often considered closer and more intimate but also more dangerous as when your conjunx dies you spark could go supernova and kill you as well.

As such, it's harder to break a spark bond. While not deadly, it's painful. So most will be legally bonded for a while before eventually spark bonding once their sure the relationship will last.

There are huge benefits to spark bonds though. The major one being that you can reach out through it and sort of communicate with your conjunx. You can't exchange words but you can exchange emotions and sense when they're in pain or distress. It also provides a deeper connection with the conjunx and better synchronicity with them.

Megatron actually banned spark bonds within the Decepticon army pretty early on. He didn't want two soldiers dying when one got killed.

The only exception to this rule is Strika and Lugnut, who got bonded right before the war broke out.

Pre-war bonding ceremonies could be incredibly lavish and similar to weddings with a ceremony followed by a reception and party. Traditionally everyone was expected to dress up in nice armor and decorate with jewelry and capes or robes.

Obviously, those who weren't rich often did smaller ceremonies. One major tradition among many was to get bonded in a bar.

The major acts during the ceremony is to review what was done for conjunx ritus, read vows to each other and exchange vials of innermost energon, have all guests affirm their faith and hope in the relationship, and have a third party (whether that be a higher ranking politician or a bartender) announce the bond as legitimate.

That's all for the legal aspect of bonding. Spark bonding is always done in private, away from everyone else.

Spark bonding is done by touching and merging sparks. Because of how intimate and dangerous this is, it is imperative that it be done in a safe secluded space.

Conjunx Ritus doesn't need to be performed before getting bonded, but it's expected and even concerning if you don't do it. It's like getting engaged before getting married. Not technically required, but definitely expected.

The four acts are: the Act of Intimacy, the Act of Devotion, the Act of Disclosure, and the Act of Profference. These don't have to be done in a specific order. Yeah I stole this straight from MTMTE sue me.

There also isn't really a way to indicate that someone is bonded, like a ring. External displays of bonding just aren't a thing.

That being said, I do think after starting trade routes with Earth and interacting with American culture, some form of transformation safe matching jewelry would start to get big among bonded couples.

“Hi.” You slink over to your spot, resisting the urge to sigh. Or cry. Or scream. Or all of the above.

Other than the teacher at the front of the room, you’re the only one here. Great! You’re the only one foolish enough to get caught and sent to detention. Awesome!

You sigh through your nose, and fish your homework out of your bag. You have nothing else to do.

And then the door opens, and they’re impossible to miss because they’re over six foot—Galen walks through the door. Their gaze barely passes over the teacher before they’re marching right over to the desk next to you and squeezing themself in a chair.

“Wha—” You lean over and hiss, “Galen?”

They clear their throat, drumming their fingers along the top of their thigh. They’re facing the front, but they give you a curt nod in acknowledgement. “I got detention,” they whisper.

“No you did not.”

They let out a short huff. “No I did not.”

“Then you’re not supposed to be here? What are you—” You glance up at the teacher, who’s staring at Galen with a perplexed look on their face.

The room dips into relative silence as you grab the rest of your supplies from your back and dump what you need on your desk. All Galen takes out is a new pencil and single math worksheet that looks like it’s already been completed. Not that you mind the company—but why the hell are they here?

As if they can sense that you’re thinking about them, Galen quietly side eyes you for a few moments before asking, “You, uh. You okay?”

You blink. “Huh? I’m fine. You didn’t come all this way just to check on me, did you?”

They cross their thick arms over their chest, prodding a bump in their cheek with their tongue. You can’t tell if it’s just the poor lighting or if their cheeks are getting darker. Finally, they mutter, “You weren’t answering my texts.”

A smile crawls onto your face. That is adorable. “Sorry. I had to put it away or the teacher would have taken it.”

“I even used an emoji to try to get your attention.”

You perk up at that. “As in… not the thumbs up or OK emoji?” you ask.

“The sad face, with the really deep frown.”

“No way,” you gasp. You’re not going to lie, you’re kind of flattered that they would do that for you. You love Galen and all, but they’re such a dry texter they could start a wildfire with a single spark of heat. You press your hand to your chest. “You would do that for me?”

They clear their throat and pointedly look away from you. Yeah, they’re definitely blushing.

“Send me the laughing crying emoji next,” you say, taking pity on them.

They roll their eyes. Their lower lashes are so dark. “Over my dead body.”

You hear some shuffling from the corner and you look over to see the teacher leave their desk and slip out the door, closing it behind them.

You could totally just leave right now, you think. But you don’t, you keep your ass rooted to your chair.

“So…” Galen drawls, now that they have the opportunity. “What did you even do?”

You squint at them. “I don’t want a lecture,” you warn.

They raise a brow. “I’m not going to yell at you for getting detention. I’m your friend, not your parent.”

“Sometimes you act like my parent.”

They just shrug. You don’t know how you’re supposed to interpret that reaction.

“Saw my teacher while I was skipping class, then I wiped out while I was trying to make my getaway. Teacher caught up to me and said if I didn’t come to detention they’d give me a zero,” you explain mournfully, showing them the scratches on your palm. “Now my hand’s all messed up.”

They stare at you with what could only be described as disbelief in their eyes. “You tripped?” And then they begin to do a very poor job of stifling their laughter into the back of their hand. “You got caught—because you tripped?”

“Don’t laugh at me!” you complain. “It hurts!”

They bury their entire face into their hands to contain themself, broad shoulders trembling with the effort.

“Okay,” they croak out after many moments. “Okay. I’m sorry.” They drop their hands from their face, lips pressed firmly together, and hold one out to you instead. “Give me your hand.”

You don’t even think about it—just automatically place your hand on theirs, and they flip your hand face up. Their skin is very warm.

Galen gives you a slightly puzzled look. “... No, the other one.”

Oh. Oops. You give them your other hand, still feeling a little raw from the pavement.

You can’t help but feel your cheeks start to warm at the proximity. They peer down at the injury, probably assessing the damage.

… And they’re clearly fighting off a smile.

“Oh my god,” you say, battling a grin of your own, “You’re such a dick. Everyone trips at some point in their life, Galen.”

They tilt their head to face the heavens, and take a deep, shuddering breath.

You can’t believe them. All this because of that stupid crack in the ground?

“Are you good now?” you say wryly.

It takes a second, but they bob their head in a nod, clearing their expression of any lingering amusement. They stick their hand in one of the side pockets of their backpack. “Does it hurt?” they ask.

“Almost cried,” you answer solemnly.

The corner of their mouth twitches, and then they’re fishing out the cutest bandaid you’ve ever seen.

“... Is that Squirtle?” you ask.

They ignore you in favour of smoothing the blue bandaid out over the curve of your hand, but it is definitely Squirtle. You wonder if they’ll give you some of those.

They’re about to pull away when you tease, “Hold on. Aren’t you going to give it a kiss?”

Their eyes dart up to meet yours, grip on your hand going slack. “You—do you want me to?”

Your heart catches in your throat. You didn’t expect them to take it seriously, oh god, what are you even supposed to say—

“I was just—I mean, I didn’t… you can, if you want to—”

The sound of the doorknob turning has the both of you jumping out of your skin.

They drop your hand like a pile of burning coals and you both jerk forward to face the front of the room.

The teacher does not spare either of you a single glance as they sit back down at their desk, and your heartrate does not completely calm down until long after detention is over.
