yourusername welcome back to my postgame penalty box update show: QUINN MOTHER FUCKING HUGHES RUNS THE WORLD edition!

tonight, quinn went head to head (not literally though because quinny doesn't take face offs) with his ex captain/dad, bo horvat! (whom i miss very much!) and for those who were unfortunate enough to miss it, it was a DOOZY! this game was the best so here's a full play by play: sissy's version

let me start you off with the wonderful news that as of today, november 15th, quinn is the only defenseman in the league with a +20! this is my best friend's season! and bo got welcome home signs, and an amazing tribute video, and i was so heartbroken that i wasn't there because i just wanted to wrap him up in the biggest hug!

my nuckies didn't start off *strong* because ian got two penalties in a row and the islanders cashed in on both (rude) but things started going our way in the second! we got a power play and my good man millsy cashed in!!

and then we learned that petey can juggle and ride a unicycle at the same time! i already knew that, but shorty said "i don't know how many nhl players can juggle and ride a unicycle. i don't know how many nhl players have tried to juggle and ride a unicycle, but we know elias pettersson can!" and i DIED! we love sports journalism

and then bo was an absolute RUDE HEAD and scored against demmer! the disrespect! but don't worry, sissy fans— we got another power play and my favorite blonde princess scored on it! my least favorite hughes got an assist on it which means that QUINNY CURRENTLY LEADS THE LEAGUE IN ASSISTS AND IS TIED FOR SECOND IN POINTS!

now, if you didn't watch, you might be wondering "what the heckers is going on in the fifth pic?" well, my lovelies, there was a scrum and quinn decided to put the "hug" in huggy bear by holding palmieri in a cute little headlock and they had to be separated! quinny's gone wild! watch out!

in the third, two islanders penalties were called at once, so we got ourselves a 5 on 3! hronek cashed in on it with a 100 mph (there was great debate over this) slap shot! and quinn got ANOTHER assist! for those not counting, this made the score 3-3

next up: overtime! i was so scared because i did not want bo & co to win on his homecoming. i like poetry! and i got my wish because guess who scored the game winning goal? you guessed it! QUINN MOTHER FUCKING HUGHES! i was jumping (ish) and screaming (a lot) and i got my wish of poetry because it was the 43rd shot on goal for the canucks and it was quinn's third career overtime goal! (yes, he gets a trophy!!)

quinn, i am so unbelievably proud of you. you're making this your season and doing everything you've been working on the last few summers. you're finally being recognized for your talent, and i’ve never been happier. just always remember who your biggest fan is💙 i love you way past infinity!

200 of my favorite albums that I swear by, from any genre - limited to one per artist. I always wanted to do this since the start of the decade and finally got around to it. I’ve had a lot of different musical obsessions up to this point and periods where i was deep into specific genres so I tried to make sure all of that was represented here. Chapters 1-4 of Psychosis, Trauma, and Dissociation: Historical conceptions of psychotic disorders and schizophrenia

The term 'psychosis' was first used as an alternative to terms like 'insanity' and 'lunacy.' It was coined by the Austrian physician Ernst von Feuchtersleben, taken from the Greek word 'psyche' (meaning mind or soul) and the Latin suffix '-osis' (meaning an abnormal condition). It referred to a sickness where both the body and the soul were sick, or a disease that affected 'the whole person.' The coining of this term was in response to a German psychiatry debate between mental disease located in the 'soul' and disease located in the 'body' - /Psychiker/ and /Somatiker./ Modernly, 'psychosis' is used to mean 'having psychotic symptoms.' However, psychosis is often used related to incomprehensibility. It's not new - Jaspers argued more than a century ago that 'genuine psychotic delusions' are 'not understandable.' Often, terms like "quasi-psychotic" and "psychotic-like" are used when the behavior can be made sense of in some way. The book then argues that a useful conception of the word psychosis would be one where it means that a) an alteration in the 'hierarchy of reality' has occured, and b) the person as a whole has been changed in a fundamental way.

Thomas Sydenham (1624-1689) used the term 'hysteria' to denote any mental disorder short of 'frank alienation' (outright psychosis), while Thomas Willis (1621-1675) outlined a picture in 1672 of a condition what two centuries later would be called 'dementia praecox' by Emil Kraepelin. In 1808, the term 'psychiatry' was first used by Johann Reil to refer to the treatment of the mind. Now, larger scale scientific observations could be brought to what used to be isolated accounts of individual observers. John Haslam (1766-1844) provided cases that would be consistent with what would later be called 'schizophrenia', and his 1810 book /Illustrations of madness/ detailed a single case of insanity. It was of a paranoid psychotic man, James Tilly Matthews, who believed an 'infernal machine' was controlling his life and torturing him. Haslam also recognized that in some people there were states of excitement and depression that alternated - an early recognition of bipolar disorder. In the mid-nineteenth century, the term 'psychosis' was first proposed by Ernst von Feuchtersleben to replace 'insanity' or 'lunacy.' Ironically though, he considered 'hysteria' to be a neurosis (a term proposed for any disease caused by the functioning of the nerves), and as such it was more 'biological' than psychosis… Less than a generation later, Wilhelm Griesinger helped the somaticists win the soul versus soma dispute and 'psychosis' became a term for 'organically based mental disorders.' Under Griesinger's influence, psychosis came to mean organic (caused by organic processes) and neurosis came to mean non-organic (by-products of psychological development.) Karl Ludwig Kahlbaum (1828 - 1899) labelled the disorders hebephrenia (with his student Ewald Hecker), to mean a psychosis of young adoloscents characterized by mental disorientation, and catatonia, a condition where the patient had no reactivity, was mute, and physically immobile. Emil Kraepelin (1856 - 1926), while he wrote about every major psychiatric disorder, psychosis was a major interest of his. He built upon the ideas of Griesinger and Kahlbaum, observing many patients and outlined a classification of psychosis that is still very evident in the DSM-5. Kraeplin grouped together disorders that had a poor outcome - 'catatonia', 'hebephrenia', and 'dementia paranoides.' On the sixth edition of his textbook, he outlined 'manic depressive psychosis' (bipolar disorder) and 'dementia praecox' (schizophrenic disorders.' Kraeplin claimed that on top of progressive and inevitable decline, essential features were a discrepany between thought and emotion, negativism, stereotypical behaviors, hallucinations, delusions, and disordered thought. His focus on 'inherent bodily defects' in psychiatric disorders and rapid decline led to a pessimisstic outlook on the treatment of dementia praecox. Kraepelin also described 'paranoia,' a chronic illness characterized by delusional beliefs, in the absence of personality changes. He believed paranoia was less severe and associated with partial recovery. The first use of the term 'schizophrenia' was by Eugen Bleuler (1908/1987). Over 10 years, Bleuler developed his ideas on schizophrenia in close cooperation with Carl Jung. Bleuler criticized Kraepelin's idea of dementia praecox, by saying that not all cases began early (praecox) and not all cases ended in full mental deterioration (dementia.) He proposed the term 'schizophrenia' in a Berlin psychiatry conference. The word literally means 'split mind' as he thought that /tearing apart/ ('Zerreissung') and /splitting/ ('Spaltung') were central to the disorder.

Schneider's first-rank symptoms of schizophrenia had a powerful influence on the diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia, from the 1970s onwards. They were considered sufficient but not necessary for a diagnosis of schizophrenia to be made. They were (In German, followed by their english translations): Gedankenlautwerden (audible thoughts), Stimmen in Form von Rede und Gegenrede (voices conversing or arguing), Begleitung des Tuns mit halluzinierten Bemerkungen (voices commenting on one’s behaviour), körperliche Beeinflussung (somatic influences), Gedankenentzug, Gedankeneingebung und ‐beeinflussung(thought insertion, thought withdrawal and thought influences/‘made’ thoughts), echter Wahn als Beziehungssetzung ohne Anlaß (delusional perception).

Sawyer G. - It'll Be Gone For A Little While

Three years ago, Sawyer Gebauer immersed himself into the world of jazz and the realm of the "avant-garde." Not only did he dedicate himself to studying the technical practices, but also the historical and philosophical ideas surrounding experimentation, fragmentation, the liberation from conventional forms, and the profound utilization of space in art.

Inspired by the works of Stars of the Lid, Tim Hecker, Nils Frahm, Floating Points, Leon Vynhall, and Nicolas Jaar, he began a personal journey of unexplored creative territories, blending samples, granular synthesis, and modulation techniques with both synthesized and acoustic instruments. Through this process, an awakening took hold within Gebauer, unveiling dormant pieces of his soul eagerly yearning to manifest into the world. He says, “It felt as though my entire musical career and my very existence had been leading up to this transformative period—a pivotal juncture where creation and self-discovery intertwined. And is this not the purpose of creation? To wade into the depths of one's being and unearth hidden truths? Through this work, I realized there will always be uncharted territories waiting to be discovered—an ever-unfolding journey of the self.”

Within these patient compositions, consistent modulation and subtle layering of musical textures evoke sensations of either floating high above the ground or plunging into darkened depths. A perpetual push and pull of waves, air, or anti-gravity create an intriguing contrast, mirroring dark, mystical, and undiscovered spaces where only fragments are truly understood and known. Gebauer aimed to play with this concept of fragmentation, weaving pieces of stories together like listening to multiple conversations at once while standing amidst a vast crowd. By the end of each track, there's a sense of familiarity and remoteness, akin to experiencing déjà vu or those vulnerable moments before being cast into a dream.

Sawyer Gebauer is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and composer based in Oakland, CA. His projects, such as the European-based Brittsommar and the current U.S.-based Catch Prichard, have received critical acclaim from publications like Pitchfork, Vice, NPR, Uproxx, Consequence of Sound, American Songwriter Magazine, and more.

characterisation: A forlorn wanderer, locked in a determined pursuit. He shows little in the way of emotion besides an odd sense of sorrow, but doesn’t like to burden others with his troubles. He is quiet and introspective, musing on both the problems at hand and those of his past. While for most, heartbreak is a metaphor, for him it’s a bit more literal. As a younger, bright-eyed celestial, he fell deeply in love with a mortal being, who seemed to reciprocate. But in fact - they were using him, draining and corrupting his divine soul with the ultimate goal of becoming a lich. And as the ritual concluded, the lover fled, abandoning Nishant to his fate. He woke up drained and hopeless, remnants of light seeping from the wound on his chest. An order of blood hunters had come to investigate the necromantic energy and pulled him from the rubble - while he survived thanks to their intervention, light was prone to explode from his wound without warning and an odd trace of necromantic energy (from his ex-lover, he presumed) washed through his blood. With the help of the order, he gained enough control over his condition to safely train: it was thanks to him that the lich had achieved their goal, he wanted to atone for it by any means necessary. He now journeys in search of them, willing to take them down at any cost - even his own life.

inspiration: Zero Two first blood hunter AND first non-mon, heckers! in honour of kirby 64 getting on the switch n64 emulator (and a friend 100%ing it day it arrived), we got... who I think is a pretty cool concept. was a heck to make, though. anyway. blood hunter, obvious. literally shooting blood to attack. aasimar, pretty obvious from the angelic appearance - I went with scourge/radiant consumption rather than fallen/necrotic shroud for More Bullet Hell originally but it worked very nicely with the concept. so the main issue was which profane soul to use because none of the other subclasses fit. I ended up going with undying because it’s actually good as a profane soul option unlike the warlock because it also fit nicely with the concept, and bestow curse is something I think fits especially nicely, while the healing can be akin to dark matter absorbing stuff. sort of. it’s always a heck making a halo like that though. but the actual halo just... didn’t look right to me here.

Tagged by @writingamongther0ses sometime during the distant past. Sincere apologies if this doesn’t make much sense - I must have read this out loud to my cat a fair few times in a bid to process this, but my brain’s been thrown slightly off-kilter since the second, after an attempted assassination from eggs that was inevitably made much worse by the fact I’ve been consistently poisoning myself with barley malt extract. Always read the ingredients to something, folks.

He’d heard tale of individuals that had come to fall victim to such an event throughout the course of his research, though. And had also thought it to be a rather ineffective method of dissuading him, though it was most likely due to searching for answers of his own during the midst of standing upon a precarious, oftentimes fatal line, with scientific apathy, incoherent thoughts, and an indescribable sensation that teetered neither for such an event or against. Little had changed, he’d found, in the face of worn eyes and haggard frames, as recountments of the tales of old bubbled to the surface once again. Tales of abominable husks, hollow and devoid of all that had once inhabited them. Eyes that sat empty and vacant, and bodies that still persisted, regardless of their status, and fueled by instinctual needs that were less of humanity of more of the primal desperation to survive. A subconscious defiance of life, of death, all that stood between, and what inevitably would come to face each later on, even when there was nothing to continue on for, towards the end of it.

From a currently nameless wip in which every potential title, temporary or, gods forbid, permanent, feel two steps to the left, a shimmy to the right, and then an inexplicably stubbed toe. Throw in some magical elements, grief, alternating perspectives, an incredible, immense headache, stupidity, and a character driven plot that ultimately goes off course, and we have this - a character submerged within an incredible amount of apathy and pain that has them contemplating the consequences of offering their soul, in exchange for Nothing At All.
