Bird post card test with the acrylic paint markers! I loved using them, and it’s definitely easier than regular painting.

Spangled Cotinga (Cotinga cayana)
Tumblr media
Spangled Cotinga are fruigivores that live in the norther regions of South America, almost exclusively in rainforest zones. While they've traditionally been hunted for food or their beautiful plumage, that same plumage attracts birders to areas where cotinga are found, and thus can aid the ecotourism industry. Cotinga typically do not sing, but instead make a "whistling" sound from their wings.
While the Spangled Cotinga was a duplicate, there are many others that were submitted, so the family has a chance to shine in the main bracket :)

The bird of the day is the spangled cotinga! This bird’s feathers depend on whether it’s a male or female, but it’s famous for its bright blue color. A female spangled cotinga is a grey and brown mottled color, while the male spangled cotinga has a blue plumage with a crimson throat. They are passerine birds that live in the canopy of the Amazon rainforest, and like all cotingas, they have a diet of fruit and berries, but occasionally have been seen eating insects.
Sources: wikipedia, study.com (about cotingas in general), and ebird.org where you can find pictures of the spangled cotinga in the wild and a range map. Picture above is by Anselmo D'affonseca.

The tag placed on pics of these birds is ELIMINATED, as someone asked about tagging them and I figured out how to use the Mass Post Editor >:3
