Ok I know NOTHING about anime, okay? Anything I say was great or not so great might refer to Trigun Stampede specifically, or it might just be an anime thing in general because That's What An Anime Is. I can't tell the difference.

LOVED the intro song (Tombi by Kvi Baba). Constantly listening to it right now. It's hauntingly beautiful yet so easy-going and chill. I looked up the lyrics and they're about being a light in the darkness, I dig that theme!

LOVED Meryl from the start. A level-headed young lady who craves the truth, justice, and knowledge beyond herself because it's the right thing to do. She cares so much. She doesn't steal any spotlight by interfering or by being dramatic. She simply observes, listens to instructions that will save her life, and draws her own conclusions. I'm glad we got to experience the plot through her perspective first! A "journalist investigating a story" may seem like such a dumb start - could be Hallmark. But in this Space Western setting, it's perfect.

VASH MY BELOVED. I hated his intro because it made him seem so dumb and silly. There's a difference between making a character seem naive so that he gets underestimated (bringing in the - surprise! - big guns later), and making him outright ooc to create a false first impression. Idk I knew that his FIRST scene where he needed a bullet was not how his character would remain.

HIS CHARACTER DESIGN IS SO COOOOL!!! Idk from the outfit down to his martial arts skills matched with radical forgiveness and pacifism - DUDE. He's very complex. Idk yeah he lets himself get shot in total surrender but there is the part where one bullet won't immediately kill him and he knows it. There's also the part where Wolfwood challenges him on his beliefs, saying that for all his "peace and love on planet earth" talk he sure does not clean up after the messes he creates. The thing is - it's not so much about taking responsibility for the bounty on his head or something, but rather for the fact that his behavior evokes confused, angry and frightened reactions because it comes unexpected to a human society that is drilled on survival. As much as he CHOOSES not to use violence time and time again, I think he needs to cultivate some awareness that this is unusual behavior and that it triggers people to do crazy things (based on insecurity) around him. On the positive side, he confronts each and everyone with their personal tolerance for violence and tests their hearts that way. Beautiful.

The team is so well balanced! Vash, Wolf, Meryl, and Roberto - Dream Team!

The actions scenes take my breath away. They are so so so so good. I am noticing the attention to detail and the accuracy to skill that everyone is describing. I am also highly enjoying the ingenuity of new moves and awesome use of weapons, physical strength and surroundings. I'm sorry, I can't explain the brilliance of these moves well - but you already know what I mean.

I didn't quite get the in-depth explanation of the conflict I think??? Like, I'm still not quite sure what a Plant is, why Vash and Nai are more intelligent than the rest of them, why they were in space to begin with and what exactly Knives was trying to achieve by traveling to a higher dimension? I really didn't get the angel theme and why Vash suddenly developed a wing and became dark (I like his darker look tho). I also don't quite understand Nai as a character. To ensure the survival of Plant seems like an understandable cause for his actions, but why be so cruel and uncaring about it? It doesn't explain his maniac barbarity. Explanations are more than welcome!

What is your obsession with Livio about?? I mean I know, he was epic in that one scene he appeared in, and his bond with Wolfwood was genuine and deep. But he literally took himself out like a light, so... where's all that additional Livio content coming from? It's also really sad. Like... he never even gave himself one minute after waking up. That was a bit morbid.

Oh my gosh Vashmeryl is the og canon? I'm happy there wasn't any forced romance between anyone in this season. Only platonic connections for once. Amazing. Whatever Vash and Meryl end up as, I'll support both.

If there comes a Season 2, I will watch it!!! I don't know how far I'll take Trigun Stampede in fandom, but believe me, watching this has positively altered me forever. It's so FRESH.

have you posted anywhere about your thoughts on tristamp as an adaptation from the manga? if not id love to hear your thoughts on how you found it as a long time trigun fan!

Whew! (It's been 20+yrs as a fan of the old anime) Honestly you've probably seen most of what I've posted already :'D but as an adaption.....it draws on many endgame manga elements and spins them into its own thing! With a reshuffled timeline, new context, and expanded world building for ex. It's not a 1:1 at all but an entirely new re-imagining! That's different from both the manga and old 98anime. (As a prequel of sorts leading up to the destruction of July city, which in the original story, is an event that happens before the main plot even begins!)

But things like Wolfwood's healing capsules, the whole side plot about 'awakening' Livio, Meryl (& Roberto) getting captured by Zazie to hear the history of the world (and them acting as bait to lead Vash into a trap...), the very important backstory of Knives & Vash discovering the abuse/experimentation on their sister Tessla, all the references in ep12 like Vash's hair, wings, Angel Arm, augmented bullets with Plant markings, and Chronica - the modern Independent Plant coming from Earth, as teased in the post-credits....ALL those things come from the manga (that the 98 anime never got to)! :O And many more I probably can't list off the top of my head...but they're sprinkled everywhere in a way that you can tell Studio Orange did their homework to make this their love letter towards the the source material.

As for how I found it....honestly it was already on my to-watch list! As I'd heard news of it in production for a while and was curious to give it a chance. Until (around ep1-2 released) I saw some friends reblog some gifs/art and this is embarrassing but ACTUALLY it was some of the early vashmeryl fanarts shared around that really jolted my long-forgotten memories like firing neurons awake from cryosleep and I was like ?!?! holywaitasecond...ended up binge-rewatching the 98anime just to 'check' and refresh my memories about that and OOOOOHHHHMY GOD the nostalgia hit me like a Truck ;o; YES I could Remember Everything then!!!!! aaaaaaaaa And then after reading Trimax (super angry it'd been legally inaccessible and practically lost here for such a gem!!!) I've never recovered been the same~~~ 8'D Well then. So yup, Stampede helped respark + awaken all those things for sure!

HMMM. I DON'T REALLY THINK SO NO. He's a lovely character DON'T GE ME WRONG. But due to his limited amount of time in the plot and my focus being divided to other characters I haven't thought about him much yet! And the thoughts i have had are related to an unposted AU 😂He's an absolute treasure and a delight and i can't WAIT to get more of him tho. What a lovely bean.. AW THANK YOU!!! ;;v;; I'm honored!! ive been realising i may be aspec (for the thousandth time again after denying it over and over), which prompted me to look in the ace vashwood tag which led me to your fic, ‘here i am, pry me open’ and um, it left me in shambles. i even shared the fic with a fellow ace friend who doesnt even know trigun, and she adored it too, we were just screaming to each other in dms over it HAHAHA

i wish i could say more!! but yeah man it just really hits deep and how you write vash and wolfwood… it makes me hope that love that giving and understanding is real.

i genuinely have no words to describe how much it meant to me. i dont know. i want to show it in art, as i usually do, in gratitude for how….validating and beautiful it is, but im coming up empty no matter how hard i try. im so sorry. its just so good. thank you.

(sorry if ive asked this before but) who exactly is smeaton? what do you like so much abt him?

so I briefly talked about who mark smeaton is here but basically he was a bard in 1530s england who confessed to adultery with the queen and got himself, the queen, and four other lords executed

as for why I like him, it's probably mostly because I'm not able to get enough information to satisfy my curiosity. he's an enigma. mark smeaton was a real living being. there's real facts about him, things he said, done, made, etc. but also he was a commoner so there's also so much about him that isn't known and probably will never be known because he wasn't important enough to make note of. like, aside from he's a "very handsome young man" and "one of the prettiest monochord players" I legitimately cannot find any description of what he looked like. not even his hair color

he's a bard. he could dance, play the lute, monochord, and many other medieval instruments I don't remember the name of. but while we have king henry viii's songs and poetry, we have absolutely nothing of mark's. well actually that's not entirely true, there is this sheet music that might've been mark's that he wrote for anne boleyn. the handwriting matches apparently? but it's not for certain

what was he like? the information we do have about him is from comments made by the lords etc that didn't like him. he was said to be arrogant which makes sense if he was getting a lot of attention from the royals, but how much is that actual arrogance and how much of it is lords and ladies getting pissed that he's trying to act like he's one of them and speak to them as equals? paper was expensive so it's very likely he never wrote down prose or poetry where we can know what he thought. we have nothing about what he thought everything we have is from other people's writings

there are times where I learn things about him and it makes me doubt if mark was ever a real person at all. how could someone so influential be so forgotten? he rarely gets mentioned in tudor history and when he does it's as one of the five men who were executed. the biggest mystery about him is how he was spending like two or three times his yearly salary. where was he getting the money? was he really receiving that much in bonuses from the king and queen? was he doing "favors" and getting extra money that way? we don't know! the accounting books for the five year time period he was employed at court were destroyed/lost (I am frothing at the mouth)

did you know queen mary (henry's first daughter) tried to start a rumor that queen elizabeth (yes that queen elizabeth and henry's second daughter) was actually the daughter of anne boleyn and mark smeaton? the way how he is both so involved and yet nonexistent drives me insane. I have so many questions about him and when I try to find answers I just end up with so many more questions. I know I could probably just make headcanons like I do with my fav fictional characters but mark was a real person. there's actually right and wrong answers but I don't know what they are! I need to time travel so I can study him like a bug I'm not kidding

and there's also the chance that my obsession with joey batey projected onto mark smeaton (he played him in the wolf hall/bring up the bodies stage play) who is depicted as such a little shit and sopping wet kitten in the books there's no way I wouldn't love him. like

(the cut off word was "tears") he's so pathetic I love him so much. he's the ultimate side character who I wish was in the story more because he'd actually be a really really good foil to thomas cromwell. they're both commoners who tried to social climb in henry's court, and cromwell was the one who basically set everything up and used mark to bring down anne boleyn and her circle. I didn't get a screenshot of this but in bring up the bodies someone asked cromwell why mark and he responded "I didn't like the way he looked at me" just that sentence and how well it shows that cromwell thinks of mark like he's a pesky fly I am so

there's also the fact that I cannot for the life of me find a recording of wolf hall and I know it's really unlikely that I'll ever find one because it's not a musical so this itch will never get satisfied. why don't you just watch the tv shows? because 1) it's not joey playing mark and 2) based on the gifs I've seen he's not pathetic enough he's too suave and charming

it's honestly just this inability to find enough information to satisfy me that's riling me up all the time. did you know in the wolf hall/bring up the bodies script book joey is the first one credited? I know it's because he's first alphabetically but man does it feel like salt in a wound when photos I can find of him in the play are like this

🎡Meet My Clowns!🍿

I had been planning this post for a while, but a certain surprise, as well as the urgency of the last two posts, I have only been able to get to it recently. I have 8, and that number is only going up! This post will focus on my current 8 clowns, as others will be posted later when attained. If you can provide assistance on the recognition of my mixed-breeds that would be greatly appreciated! I’m struggling to properly label them, which would provide much needed help for their medical care.

Singular Clowns

These clowns are clowns that are in my care alone, or have no familial relations in my care.

Spoonful 🥄

Spoonful the Clown was the clown that inspired my studies. He belonged to a friend who was in desperate need to rehome him. I decided to take him in and give him proper care while they got back on their feet, but after personal events with that person, his home with me is permanent. He is the smallest clown I have, coming in at around 5.5in. I do see some rodeo clown in him, but other opinions are appreciated.

Carousel 🎠

I only have one show clown, Carousel, and he retired a couple years ago. He is a purebred Essexshire Polka-Stripe. The orange nose is a genetic mutation that is common on the paternal side of his pedigree. This mutation arguably won him three local Clown Shows, as well as third place at the prestigious annual Westminster Big Top Clown Show. Only two of his five years of pageantry were spent in my care. He now prefers to spend his retirement leisure time in his tent , resting in his ball pit.

Pizza Party 🍕

Pizza Party was gifted to me by a neighbor who’s son’s clown had a litter. I call him Peezee for short. He is definitely a teacup. His features are similar to a set of twins I have, as well as quite a few clowns I’ve seen around Tumblr. He loves birthdays and related items, and is always excited for events, even if the event is simply watching a movie.

These clowns listed below are clowns that came with other family, or has familial relations in my care.

Birthday Cake and Party Favor 🎉

These two are the twins I mentioned above. I adopted the girls from the CCA about three years ago. I highly recommend adopting chucklets in need through their organization. I had my appointment set to adopt Party Favor (seen left), but after finding out she was a twin, I knew I had to take both. They’ve been nothing but a ray of sunshine for my little house of clowns.

Fortnite 👾

Her name needs not explanation.

She is by far the largest breed that I own. She has been recluse lately, for I will reveal the reason later on, but i was able to get her out of her tent for a quick photo. This is quite a large breed, coming in at a little more than 2.5ft. I am not sure what the breed could be, so I’d appreciate a little help if I could get it. Please read April’s entry below for details on their mother.

April ⛱

April is the younger sibling of Fortnite. They share the same mother, but have wildly different fathers. All I know for reference of the two of them is that their mother is a North American Goofball, and that she had blue hair and was at least 4ft tall. April, my second largest clown, was born with an indiscernible gender. They keep to themselves, but stay close to and play with Fortnite the most.

Pompom 🔴

Now, here is the big surprise that had been delaying this post: Fortnite was pregnant! She had been getting a little too friendly with a free-roam standard party clown in the neighborhood, got out one day, and within the hour she went missing she came back pregnant. Typically clowns her size give birth to litters of 3-5, but she only had a singular chucklet. He is only a week old. I was able to get ahold of him for a moment and determined that he was a boy. Here he is bundled up by his mother after a feeding. He was certainly unplanned, but he is certainly staying with us.

You may start with Stampede (12eps), but I've grown up with the old 98anime (which has some dated bits, to forewarn) to have a special nostalgic fondness for them that I'm so happy to see revived! They are so fun, and so silly, and so heartwarming. :'3 Such a nice comforting/healing dynamic who brave past impossible horrors/trauma together on enduring trust & good faith~ (And the manga's subtle, almost Victorian-style longing + anchoring emotional connection is so soft and lovely. Extremely ace/bi-approved with rad angel/monster + love for humanity themes, I would say!)

🧁 simplified chai masala cakes 🧁

for the chai masala concoction, you need:

1 cup milk

2 tablespoons chai masala spice mix

1 tablespoon black tea (unless your masala mix already has it)

1 tablespoon white sugar

for the cake batter, you need:

1 cup of the aforementioned chai masala concoction

½ cup oil (i use sunflower)

1 and ½ cup flour (all-purpose)

1 tablespoon baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

¾ cup sugar

to prepare the concoction, pour your cup of milk into a pot and add your chai spices, black tea and sugar. mix and bring to boil, then simmer the mixture on low heat for about 5 minutes.

take the concoction off the heat and let it cool down completely. once cooled, sieve the concoction so no spice chunks remain.

authentic chai masala is made with milk and water, and the process is a lot more complex. for the sake of this recipe, this is enough. no water is needed.

prepare your cupcake tin—either grease it or line it with paper cups. preheat your oven to 180°C (cca 350°F).

in a big bowl, sift in your flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. mix everything well.

add your chai masala concoction and oil to your dry ingredients and mix until well combined. don’t overwhisk that shit!

the batter should be quite liquid, but should kind of pull and stick to your spoon. if your batter is too dry, add a bit of milk until you reach desired consistency. if your batter is too wet, add more flour.

pour the batter into your cupcake tin—i usually do two tablespoons of batter into each cup, until the cup is nearly full. bake for around 20-25 minutes, depending on your oven. you can check the cakes with a toothpick—they are done when the toothpick comes out clean.

the recipe makes about 17 small cakes. the cakes smell amazing and they are very sweet and dense. if you like your cakes a little less sweet, you can omit the sugar from the chai infusion.
