The next chapter

Move out cleaning

Since I’ve been back home so much and spending most of the summer out at lake Lanier and going to the beach, it was finally time to get back to my regularly scheduled program. Now that I have been back over in Kennesaw and have been preparing for the upcoming fall semester, one area that I was consistently finding myself struggling with was my current living situations with my roommates as they had planned to move out the next semester. Being the persona that I am, I had to take initiative and do some research to find a new place to call home. After looking for about two weeks and contacting over 50 different properties, I recently have just gotten approved for my future residency and now have an official move in date of July 29th. With such great news ahead for future move in, it now leaves me in the process of trying to move out all my belongings out of my current residency. Now with all my inventory for Ragga dinks being here at this current house, I Have now started realizing the mass amount of clothing items that I’ve accumulated throughout this year and is now leading me to run out of packing boxes. And honestly, I was kind of fed up at looking at some of the same articles of clothing. And decided that it would be bed to take advantage of this move out cleaning process and started to post my clothing items at discounted prices to see how much attention it would be able to gain.

The story sale

With my discounted price strategy in mind, I felt like I had a good plan to clear this inventory that was unwanted and in the way of my move-out process. But I was having a difficult time on choosing what social media platform would be best to post the inventory with its sizing and pricing. After a rather quick thought process I believed since I was not trying to keep these photos up forever of the inventory, and create the idea of a “story” sale, my best bet was to use my snapchat to promote these articles of clothing with the desired details I would like to include and also only post it up for 24 hours rather then it being indefinitely like a Instagram post. With the small-time frame of the photos being posted, it will give my viewers more incentive to buy the article at that moment rather than wait before it’s too late. And after over 100 pictures of clothing, I was able to see all my hard work pay off. People were pleased with the inventory and pricing and were even willing to bet on certain clothing items. For example, there was this old-school Pulp Fiction graphic tee that over 10 people had swiped up on snapchat and was interested in the piece. With so many people wanting the one Item I had to offer I thought it would be best to give the T shirt to the highest bidder. As this series started, I posted the shirt starting at $15, (already triple what I had paid for it). And let the audience start their own doing. It then increased to $20 where another person then offered $30 and eventually maxed out to the highest bidder being $40. Which is crazy to think about because all I had really asked for from the start was just $15, but the hype behind a T-shirt still never seems to amaze me. After the story sale I have managed to clear a lot of unwanted inventory and have made it an easier process on myself to move out, while also putting some money in my pockets.
