So this happened twice in the show.

Will leaving Mike behind as he bikes away and Mike doesn’t stop him. The first time, the light flickers. The second time, the rain is pouring down. This happened in 1.01 and 3.03.

WHAT IF a similar scene happens in 5.05? With flickering lights AND pouring rain? And what if, this time, Mike actually stops Will from leaving?

Ross Duffer posted these from set for ST5 today, and my FIRST thought was “wait, they didn’t release the Nike Air Max until 1987.”

So, they either messed up/didn’t care/we’re not supposed to notice (unlikely, costuming is very important) OR it’s 1987 or later (which we already assumed).

When does Steve, in the craziness of the town falling into ruin, have time to buy new shoes? Are they filming a scene from when the town is fine/after they beat Vecna? Are they filming a scene for the end of the show? Because if it’s starting in the middle of where they left off, they have a whole ~year until that shoe drops and a ton of plot to get through. Just thinking…

the duffers used a sad, subdued cover of heroes in season 1 for a scene where we see all power and autonomy taken away from will and replaced with a lie meant to conceal a truth people wouldn’t like, although the lie isn’t much better. mike is heartbroken. they’re saving the david bowie version for a scene in season 5 where will shatters a lie and takes all his power and autonomy back. mike is overjoyed and full of love.

Okay, I can't hold it in anymore. Here are my S5 predictions of how Will, Mike and El are going to act:

Will is going to be pretty chill (or try to be) but also at the same time batshit scared of all the weird things that Vecna might be saying to him, or just the fact that he's still connected to him. Still, I think he'll be a pretty badass main focus and overall a brave character. Also he has a gun.

Mike is gonna go back to how he was in s2, giving all his priority to Will, whilst also trying to prioritise El a bit to get their relationship back together. He's going to be super worried about Will and overall going to be a bit of a cheerleader. Obviously he'll have a ton of references with s2 and he'll be pretty pathetic even if he will probably have a few courageous moments.

El is going to go absolutely badass, she is going to be super cool, I would even dare say "2 cool 4 school" (I'm a sucker for dad jokes) . She's going to go a bit more solo, work on her powers a bit more and will be really concentrated on the mission while obviously having fun times with her friends and family. She is FINALLY going to officially dump Mike, but I think they'll have a really interesting speech when they do break up (but she's still gonna be low-key mad with him for the majority of the first episodes

Also Byler canon lol.

And I do genuinely believe El is gonna die. 🤷(Nothing against her, she's one of my favourites, don't kill me plz)

Jopper 110%

No happy ending without Jopper, not even a bittersweet one. Mom and dad.. Solid as a rock. Forevvva!!

Byler 100%

Might be under Jopper, but still a solid 100%. Iconic, legendary, best thing about the show. Will improve the rewatchability of the show by also 100%! Literally people will gasp when watching S1 after finishing S5. GASP!

Duzie 95%

They gave Dustin the perfect girlfriend. There is no reason to take her away.

Rockie 90%

Obviously happening, as promised in S4. I guess one of them could die, but not likely. Or they could kiss but somehow separate in the end? Very unlikely.

Lumax 85%

I wish they were higher, but I'm not fully convinced she is going to be okay? I really hope they are endgame and I believe so.

Jancy 48%

Could be endgame. I just don't know. It doesn't feel like the resolution of their arc? Jonathan wants to go to that one specific college and be free of his responsibilities, just live for himself for a while and thrive. Nancy feels like another responsibility to him to go to some other college and whatnot... Nancy wants to go to her specific college and pursue a career. What does Jonathan add to her dreams? Both were relieved not to see the other at Spring break even though they love each other, you know? Yeah, sry, I hope they are not endgame. (Better than Jonathan dying tho!!!)

Stancy 10%

I don't think so, as you can tell from the percentage, but I guess they could go crazy to be surprising or something. Please not! Steve deserves real love too and not "I guess you are not as dumb as back in the day and your chest is not bad at all"

Steddie 5%

I'm surprising myself, but I guess the possibility is above 0. No real reason why not. Sure Steve is straight and Eddie is dead, but would you bet a limb on either of those facts? It would be kinda unserious, so I strongly doubt.

Mileven 0%

But I secretly love them and they are canon, so they get a pic. Hope there will be lots of sad Mileven edits for my viewing pleasure post S5! They so cute! Lookatmypookies! Cuuute. And doomed.

Made a realization that Will does not know what Henry in his human form looks like— there probably aren’t any pictures of Henry post-lab capture. I’m sure if he came face to face with Vecna in his tentacle monster state he could connect the dots but if he saw Henry in his human flesh form he would probably think none the wiser (unless his sensory was activated). I don’t know if the show will actually use this somehow but Henry could theoretically appear to Will in a dream as a kind spirit and Will could be oblivious to his true identity.

mike knows el didn't commission the painting - a theory

i was about to go to sleep and i shot up and remembered.

tl;dr: mike analyzed the letter that el sent him about the painting (s4e1) and knew the painting existed and that will made it for a potential love interest, he just didn't know he was the potential love interest. full explanation under the cut

in the very first mike scene of st4, mike's reading a letter from el about how excited she is that he's coming to visit and whatnot. in this letter, she mentions the painting.

"Will is painting a lot, but he won't show me what he's working on. Maybe it is for a girl. I think there is someone he likes. Because he has been acting weird."

when we see mike, he's so in depth reading this letter that it makes him late. we can assume that this isn't his first time reading it because i don't imagine he'd choose to read a letter for the very first time when he knows he's supposed to be getting ready for school.

and we know that mike wants to be a writer, so there's a chance that he's actually analyzing this letter for potential second meaning. i can get into that later, that's not what this is about.

assuming mike has read this letter a number of times and has probably thought about and analyzed, there's no way he'd forget about the painting that el believes will painted for a girl, it likely consumed his waking thoughts.

tl;dr: mike knows about the painting and the painting being for will's potential love interest.

when it comes time for will to give mike this painting (and confess), mike knows about it already and likely sees it coming/ expects to see it eventually. but that's just mike knowing that the painting existed, not of its content which makes his reaction genuine.

when will goes and backtracks of the history and meaning of the painting, mike is kind of picking up that he's talking about himself through el in his feelings. but of course, mike doesn't say any of that because he wants to hear will out and get his side of things because he values will and his friendship.

when will begins to cry of having just done what he did, mike is left to simmer in his own feelings. i choose to believe that mike did notice that will was crying, but he was processing and wasn't sure how best to help so he let will cry it out.

mike would sit mulling over the painting and comparing will's account of things and el's account of things. i'd imagine it'd come up in season 5, but not in a "what painting" kind of way. mike has an entire binder of will's art, and had a few personal connections to this painting so he wouldn't forget it.

it'd come up in season 5 as a "i'm not gonna leave you behind, will" kind of way. a revision of the crazy together scene, of mike validating will's feeling and being empathetic and understanding. mike's acknowledgement of the painting would likely lead to his confession since it led to will's and then byler kiss, vecna is dead and the world is saved yippee we did it!

I predict that either Steve, Eleven, Mike, Nancy, or Will is going to die in the last season of stranger things

Jonathan would sacrifice himself for Will, Will would sacrifice himself for Eleven or Mike, Nancy would sacrifice herself for Mike, and Mike would sacrifice himself for Eleven. It wouldn't make any sense for Dustin, Lucas, Max, or anyone else to die.
