The MANY Bloodlines of Constantine

Those Constantine is Danny's dad and sold his kid soul because he thought he'd actually never have one and Danny is now the Ghost King so his soul claims are invalid AUs but learns he's not Constantine only kid (after a while Constantine honestly 100% thought he'd never have kids and never bothered with a 1st born clause when making deals, maybe some annoyed deity or powerful magic user made Constantine think he can't have kids anymore just to get back at the conman) and now doing everything in his Kingly power to save his half-siblings (can be other teens from other shows or movies or cartoons etc etc) because Danny is the oldest of them and really really wants to punch his biodad for making such a huge mess he has to deal with but Danny does get to meet and protect his younger Half-siblings.

Then comes the day he's celebrating one of his half-sibs birthday with all the others when he's suddenly summoned out of the blue and meets not just the Justice League but his, and his half-sibs, no good soul selling biodad.

Hello rightly placed aggression.... Once he takes care of that powerful evil spirit that's attacking earth first of course.

Eyeball

The first ring with an eyeball-motive that I bought was from a ring shop in New York, where the uncle from the shop said, “This artificial eye belonged to a terribly unlucky person, so if you wear it, you will be free from misfortune from now on,” so I bought it and put it on. I don’t know if he was lying or speaking the truth, though. I started collecting them afterwards. I’m into gross accessories. Because when Gene Simmons wore a scorpion bracelet and a spider ring, I thought, “Oh, cool!”

When I was a child, I thought of space as the place where the so called monster graveyard that made whirring noises from Ultraman, Alien Baltan and the like was (laughs). There was a period when I was engrossed with UFOs. Starting when I read the book of Yaoi Junichi [*1935, journalist specializing in UFOs], I thought, “Aliens exist for sure. The Soviet Union and the US are covering it up!” I said, “There is a base on the moon. The VIPs are migrating there one after the other,” and made the others read the book as well (laughs).

When I was in elementary school, we would also go looking for UFOs. We’d meet on our bicycles, go up the mountain, and make a base that we filled with anything connected to UFOs. There, on a flat open place nearby, we would all hand-in-hand say, “Venturer, Venturer, space people”*, and “Won’t you come here?”, all bringing our cameras with us (laughs).

[*) A chant commonly used to summon a UFO from out of nowhere. The translation “Venturer” is an educated guess made by me, picked as the most sensible, though not the most obvious choice for transcribing the word ベントラ. I have been unable to find an official transcribtion.]

[On a different note, this is the only quote from the collection that has an actual line break in it, so I suspect that those two paragraphs were taken from different interviews.]

When I was a child, I thought of the US as the country where KISS lives. Now it’s a place that’s good for music production. That said, I only know L.A.. Music aside, I’d call it a city of zones. Whether it’s for work or for fun, there is a certain degree of division into zones, which allows you to tell which areas are dangerous and which are safe. Therefore, although it is a functional city, you could also call it a cold city.

After going on that Ted Talk about my fun with implementing more shape language to FEH character designs, I thought it'd be cool if I provided clearer examples of me doing so! And also reveal my bias towards drawing Anna because WOW girly stupid easy for me. No thoughts. Head empty. Got her perfect first try. Which is a godsent when I typically gotta redraw Alfonse's hair 30 times before I land on something I like and this time was NO EXCEPTION. She is simply a treat and gives me happy chemical. They all do. It's why I draw em.

On that note, this drawing ain't the gospel I live by. It ain't a character sheet by any means. This is mostly an experiment for fun! I'm constantly tweaking as I get more familiar with their shapes and commit more of their design to muscle memory.

#oceandi speaks #the secretary's third life #technically this is still gene I guess but it's not actually him #just like gahhhhh I want him to be a little guy who has a few good friends in town and runs his bookstore so well and tries to stay out of #trouble and he's friends with the knights but one day he's discovered to be the long-lost prince of the kingdom and is whisked away to #parties and balls and nobles trying to use him as a puppet to gain favor with the current monarchy #but the current king's family is on to the fact that his half-sister and the knights are planning to overthrow them #they're the true heirs to the kingdom but they want to dismantle the system so the current king summons monsters and destroys a bunch of #places like gene's little shop and that's all the setup to the original story done #but the great magician turns back time and gene has a chance to prove himself as the prince earlier to give the rebels the upper hand #in the meantime all the normal tropes are also playing out like truck-kun (mandatory) and marriage letters and spies and fairs and stuff #tag rambling #listen listen I read romance isekais when I'm really stressed about the world (so - daily) but I want them to be queer :( #not just 'oh I'm disguised as a man' and not just 'the main character thinks people are gay but she's wrong and that's why it's funny' :(

cozy urban fantasy you say? 👀 talk to me about the coziest part of it!

For ME the coziest part is the friendship between the two pov characters, David and Wallace. It’s the most important relationship in the story. They’re close despite their quirks (Wallace being…Wallace and David being nonchalant about any mortal peril he encounters and gently roasting his friends)

And since they’re business partners they compensate for each other’s weaknesses and support each other’s strengths!

ALSO the growth because of their friendship! (Especially David who goes from “I guess I’ll take my trash out but it’s for Thistle (his service dragon) not for me” to “oh I do deserve love and care actually”)

MORE COZY this excerpt is probably my favorite in the whole book:

David made himself coffee and sat at the small dining room table, carefully moving some of Wallace’s research to the side. It was so quiet. No neighbor pacing around upstairs, no one yelling at their tv. Just the silence of an early morning, falling over the world like a spell. Most of the park was still lost in shadow, the sun still not quite over the mountains.

He had notes to go over, research to do, but he found himself just sitting and staring out the window. Steam curled up from the surface of his coffee, twisting in the pale morning light. The ceramic of his mug warmed his fingers. The eastern sky turned pink, then red and a dazzling gold, the sun shining through a thick bank of clouds. Sunlight glowed on the very tops of the trees, leaving the rest in blue shadows. It spilled over the balcony railing and pooled across the floor, picking out threads of honey in the dark wood.

Thistle ate some fruit he left out in a bowl for her then curled up in his lap, letting out the occasional mutter. He smoothed his fingers over her fluff and she sighed with contentment.

He felt safe.
