Since it’s early in the morning…
…and Peter is lying here peacefully snoring, and I really ought to lie the hell still today so I can recover from the results of Tuesday/Wednesday’s IBS attack (you know the kind of throwing up that leaves you sore and aching from chest to crotch? That kind of results…), I have little choice but to lie here doing the kind of thing one does when tired and bored and physically confined.
Like going through the Photos area in my iPad. Sheesh but some unusual things have piled up in there. You may see some of them scattered through my TL today, so be warned. (Nothing grossly NSFW, of course. But [PSA] my sense of humor can get quirky. …Then again, if you’re following me in the first place, you’ve probably noticed that…) 😏
…This one links in nicely with that ST:TAS post from yesterday, come to think about it…

Tweets of the Week: Swear Trek Edition
I’m often impressed at how well the captions sync with the lip movements on Swear Trek gifs derived from the original Star Trek. Especially so for the ones featuring James Doohan or DeForest Kelley, those guys just looked like great cussers.
I can hardly remember that this wasn’t the actual line:

What with Federation culture being so bent for historical recreation and holodeck malfunctions spawning sapient holograms left and right, I have to imagine at least one of those inadvertently sapient holograms themselves went on to become a historian. Imagine one of those inadvertently sapient holograms studying their own namesake and coming to the conclusion that the present academic consensus – upon which they themselves are based – is incorrect. Imagine hologram Genghis Khan rocking up to the podium at the historical society symposium like "you fuckers got my personality all wrong and I'm going to make it everybody's problem".

Jim: Spock, what are our chances of surviving this attack?
Spock: I can't tell for sure, but I'm estimating 7428.7 to 1
Jim, giggling blushing kicking his feet: you're estimating 7428 to 1?
Spock: no, 7428.7 to 1
Jim, fidgeting with his pink jell glitter pen and already writing in his head the entry to his diary for today: alright

The thing I enjoy about Lower Decks is that, up until now, the wiki curators who are determined to shoehorn every piece of Star Trek lore into a single coherent universe mostly only had to do bullshit worldbuilding gymnastics to make that work when dealing with the Original Series, a couple of the more egregious Star Trek: Voyager episodes, and some of the novels, and in a pinch they could get away with declaring the novels "secondary canon" – but now Lower Decks is throwing them multiple unhinged curveballs in every single episode, and the wiki articles are getting interesting again.
