Tenth Doctor
Tumblr media
The Doctor looked so uncomfortable.
He was pressed into the corner of the conference room, unable to escape the chattering of a persistent woman. She laughed ridiculously, shaking her whole body until she was bumping into him. The Doctor shook her off with a forced smile.
(Y/N) watched them from afar, perhaps enjoying his state of panic – very rarely do you see the Doctor knocked down a peg.
Though it was peculiar to see him so resistant of a flirtatious encounter. He was always sweeping strangers off their feet with talk of space and how brilliant he was. But right then there was nothing but strain on his face as the touchy woman sought his arm.
“I should take pity on him,” (Y/N) thought, sipping the remaining of her cocktail and envisioning a list of things the Doctor could do to repay her kindness.
She nudged through the crowd of babbling businessmen and their escorts to reach the corner of the room, starting to hear the high pitch voice of the confounding woman.
“Oh, stop!” she shrieked in laughter, “You couldn’t possibly have anything else to do tonight.”
“W-Well…” the Doctor stuttered, “I’ve got people to see, lords to meet, p-planets to save.” He frantically sought an excuse to escape.
(Y/N) could have sworn she watched the clouds part and sunshine fall on his face as the Doctor spotted her arrival. He practically yelled at her.
“(Y/N)!”
The insistent woman turned brazenly, a hand against her collarbone.
“Hi there,” (Y/N) said brightly.
“Hello, darling,” the Doctor said, pushing to reach her side. “How are you?”
But he didn’t give her a chance to respond as he gripped her waist and pulled her to his lips. He kissed her hard and fierce, leaving no room to question how he felt about her. (Y/N) was shocked into a standstill, hands braced against his arms as he leaned into her hungrily.
It was all-consuming, his fingers digging into her sides, holding her in place as he claimed her mouth.
The pair of them were so absorbed in each other’s embrace that they completely missed the departure of the flustered woman.
It might’ve been minutes later that (Y/N) pushed against the Doctor’s arms, gasping for air. “Woah…”
The Doctor instantly pulled away, believing that he had overstepped beyond repair. He rubbed at his face, fingers lingering over his lips as he fumbled over something to say.
“I… you – I’m sorry, (Y/N),” and he looked it too. “I couldn’t get that infernal woman to leave and then you… I didn’t mean to come at you like that.”
(Y/N) had a hand to her chest, chasing the rapid beating of her heart. “Um…” she gulped, “I didn’t mind.”
His head was downturned, but his eyes flew to hers. “Sorry?”
She shook her head, “I didn’t mind.”
He got a wonderous look on his face. And (Y/N) had the sneaking suspicion there was a reason he didn’t fancy going out with the stranger.
Eleventh Doctor
Tumblr media
His mind was reeling, jumping from one scenario to another. It was making his jittery movements more erratic, his fingers dancing about as he saw his thoughts before him.
He was starting to sweat with the anticipation, “By George,” he muttered, “I’m in a right state.”
“Sorry?” (Y/N) asked, lounging near the tardis. It was stuck in a quantum lock by a devious friend of the Doctor’s, one that peevishly sought to jest his companions with silly requests.
The Doctor winced at her words, on the brink of bolting, “I’ve got to do something.” He rubbed his fingertips together, inching towards her like every step was crunching over glass. “And in all my years, it’s comparable to some of the most terrifying things I’ve ever done.”
“Are you alright?” (Y/N) asked, standing to meet him, “You’re a bit jumpy.”
He gave a breathy laugh, “I’m just twitterpated.”
She scrunched her brow, “Okay,” she eyed his nervous gaze.
He licked his lips, “See the problem is I’ve made a deal with the magistrate,” he gestured towards the palace behind them, “And there’s no way we can unlock the tardis without me meeting the terms.”
“Alright,” (Y/N) smiled, “What is he asking you to do?”
“Something I’ve given a great deal of thought to,” he bounced on the balls of his feet, “And my friend finds it appropriate to make it a requirement for our escape.”
“Can I help?”
He laughed again, high and nervous, “Bear with me.” He reached her standing figure, “This isn’t quite how I imagined it, but… right.” He went to cup her face with nimble fingers, fear lining his gaze.
(Y/N) grew worried, reaching to grab his arm, but before she could voice her concern, the Doctor put his lips on hers. Gentle and apprehensive and sweet at first, he pulled away just an inch – only to plant a stronger kiss right after. It was as if he wanted to capture one memorable kiss before the possible rejection that might follow.
He had to pry himself away, stumbling back and ashamedly looking at her as the tardis doors swung open as if on command.
“I’m sorry,” he said, twisting his fingers.
She stared at him with wide eyes, “You daft old man.” His continual look of shame brought a smile to her face, “I would have agreed if you just asked.”
His posture straightened out, surprised, “You… you didn’t mind.”
“Doctor,” she laughed, “I’ve known about your little crush since our first adventure. You’re so terribly obvious.”
He started to smile, “I always thought myself mysterious and debonair.”
“And who was I to crush that confidence.” She went for his hand, “You would have thought he asked you to wipe my memory or send me away with how scared you looked.”
“You happen to be a very scary person.”
“Said no one, ever.”
He shrugged, giddily enjoying his hand in hers, “We’re holding hands.”
She laughed, “Well spotted, Doctor.”
Jack
Tumblr media
They raced down the corridor, blaring red lights illuminating their path. The terrifying sound of dozens of army boots pounded away behind them.
Jack grappled for her hand.
“Just around this corner!” he yelled over the sirens, “There’s gotta be a way out.”
“What if there isn’t?”
“Don’t think like that,” Jack cried, swinging around the corner.
They came face to face with a high security door. It was sealed airtight, powered by an electrical panel.
“Dammit,” Jack ground out, pounding on the metal door, once – twice. “Right.” He tore at the electrical panel, revealing a mess of buzzing wires. A few began sparking as he tugged at them, whipping his hand away at singeing his fingers.
“We don’t have a way to open it,” (Y/N) muttered, feeling her gut sink at the realization that they were trapped with the inevitable chasing after them.
Jack rolled up his sleeves, “Don’t worry, sweetheart.” He gave her a wink, “I told you I’d get us out of here – a few wires aren’t going to stop us.”
“But you’ll be electric-“ She was cut off with a scream as Jack reached in and yanked a fistful of wires out of the box.
His teeth clenched, his body seizing as volts of lightning shot through him, effectively stopping his heart. He flew to the ground, singed and smoking, completely still as the life left him.
(Y/N) cried out, falling to her knees, “Jack,” she gasped. “Oh my god, Jack!” She reached for his chest, ignoring how the door unsealed itself, snapping open with a hiss.
“Come on,” she said shakily, placing her fists over his heart and beginning to push down. “I swear to god, Jack, if you die because of opening a bloody door…”
She cupped his face, kissing him gently and blowing air into his lungs. He didn’t stir for another minute, the taste of salty tears on his lips as she began to cry above him.
It was not how she envisioned their first kiss.
“Please,” she begged, “Please, wake up.”
And with an almighty breath, Jack sat up, crying out, “Woah!” He planted his hands on his chest, wincing, “Did you give me CPR?”
(Y/N) had her hands over her mouth, staring at him in horror.
He was touching his lips then, “Were we kissing?” He gave her a raised eyebrow, “And I missed it?”
She smacked him across the arm, “Why are you acting like that? You just died, Jack!”
“Yeah, about that…” he climbed to his feet, “I sort of can’t – you know – die.”
(Y/N) glared at him, “Would’ve been nice to know beforehand.”
He shrugged, giving her that charismatic smile, “I have a flare for the dramatic.” He took a step towards her, “Now, about that kiss.”
“You mean the CPR I was giving you to save your life.”
“Potato, patato,” he grinned, “I think we should do it again sometime.”
She shook her head, unable to contain her smile, “Unbelievable.”
Rory
Tumblr media
They walked as inconspicuously as possible, not wishing to draw the attention of the crowds. Rory had her wrist in his hand, paving the way through the masses. They tried to hide their growing looks of panic, taking short, shallow breaths.
“Do they know we’re here?” (Y/N) asked quietly near his back.
He swallowed, “I hope not.”
“Very reassuring,” she muttered, whipping her eyes around. “We’ve got to get out of here.”
“I was just thinking the same thing.”
He led her towards the nearest corridor, checking to see if any uniforms were waiting just around the corner. They moved quicker, jogging around to find the exit. It was just another day in the life of adventure with the Doctor.
And what could be more brilliant than getting lost on a foreign planet without any idea where the tardis was.
“Do you hear that?” (Y/N) tugged on Rory’s hand, pausing their steps.
He scrunched his brow, “Reinforcements.” Heavy footfalls seemed to come from all around them. “They must be changing shifts.”
(Y/N) spotted a helmet turning the corner on their left, “Incoming.”
Rory cursed, looking towards the right and seeing the same thing. Soldiers were winding their way through the traveling people.
“What do we do?” (Y/N) whispered, feeling Rory’s fingers fidget against her wrist. “They’re going to spot us for sure.”
Rory looked unsure of himself, pulling (Y/N) towards him, “Do you trust me?”
“What?” She eyed his apprehension, “Of course I trust you.”
He gulped, pressing her flush against him and waiting for the soldiers to be mere feet away. Finally he took a shaky breath and twisted her around, pressing her into the wall behind them. He slammed his lips onto hers, shielding as much of her body with his.
She was hesitant at first but went along with the plan as soon as her shock wore off. She wound her fingers into his hair, keeping him against her mouth. They melded together, hot and heavy against the wall as groups of people wanders past.
It was a lifetime before they pulled apart for some air.
“Well, that was…” (Y/N) started off.
Rory blinked, all in a daze, “Yeah…”
She bit her lip, “I think we’re in the clear.”
“Right, of course,” he cleared his throat. “But when we get back…”
She raised her eyebrows, “Pick up where we left off?”
“Yes, please.”

Amnesia - Tenth Doctor x Reader
❛ ━━━━━━━━・❪ ❁ ❫・━━━━━━━━━ ❜
Tumblr media
❛ ━━━━━━━━・❪ ❁ ❫・━━━━━━━━━ ❜
[ masterlist ] [ 30 day challenge ]
❛ ━━━━━━━━・❪ ❁ ❫・━━━━━━━━━ ❜
word count: 918
warnings: attacks, memory loss (obviously), angst with indications of a happy ending (open ended i guess)
summary: the Doctor believed he had once again saved you from harm, only to learn his sworn enemies had taken away all memories of him, the tardis and your times together
a/n: day 2 of my writing challenge, i lowkey hate this so much, i really like the beginning though
❛ ━━━━━━━━・❪ ❁ ❫・━━━━━━━━━ ❜
The Doctor honestly didn’t know what to expect, surely you must be dead. The Daleks wouldn’t keep you alive, right?
That didn’t stop the Doctor from trying everything he could to save you, his heart ached as he ran through the streets of London to get to the Tardis. Ready to give everything to the Daleks to keep you safe.
He was shaking as he sent the Tardis on route to the Dalek ship, the reality of what he was most likely going to find setting in.
He could picture it in his head, your body lying on the floor, the memory of him screaming at the Daleks to leave you alone still fresh in your cold, empty eyes.
The Tardis was parked, he raised the barrier and exited his trusted ship. He had materialised in an empty room, so he quickly tried to get any bearings of where in the ship he was.
That’s when he heard it, the sound of your heart wrenching, blood curdling scream. He ran as fast as his legs could go, screaming your name, that he was coming, he was there to save you.
Your screams slowly died down, coming to a complete stop as the Doctor reached your body. To his surprise, you were alive, and alone. The sound of Dalek voices heading away from where he held you.
Why would they leave you alive? Surely the Dalek’s heard him yell after her. He didn’t waste time trying to get the answers to his question, instead picking you up and taking you to your room in the Tardis.
Once you were tucked into your bed, he went to check the scanners. The Daleks had completely left, not a trace of their Ship anywhere. He cursed himself for letting them get away once again, trying to turn his attention to the fact that you were safe, they didn’t hurt you.
After a couple of hours, the Doctor heard you call out. Smiling, he ran to greet you in a warm embrace. But shivers ran down his spine as he didn’t feel you hug him back, instead push him off of you.
“Where am I?” You ask, a look of terror clouding your eyes. “Who the hell are you?”
His heart dropped, “It’s me, the Doctor…” he tried to step towards you, but you stepped back, raising your hand to stop him getting closer.
“Am I in hospital? What happened?” You asked, looking around the almost steampunk looking hallway, “Why isn’t there anyone else here?”
Tears flooded the Doctors eyes, you don’t remember anything. They- they must’ve stolen your memories.
“I need you to listen to me, you’re safe, I need you to go back to the bed you were in, I’ll have you home in no time” He said, cautiously walking close to you, putting his hand on your shoulder.
You shook your head, none of this made sense. Who was this man? You pushed past him, entering the control room you saw him enter from.
You saw the blue door with the small windows, that’s an exit if you’ve ever seen one. You run towards the door, ignoring the weird doctor’s shouts for you to stop.
The sight behind the door is one you’d seen before, but you didn’t know that. Looking out into the darkness of the Galaxy, staring at the Earth and the Moon as if you were looking at a house from a airplane.
You turn to the Doctor, “What the hell is going on?” Your eyes are filling with tears, while body shaking. It feels like a chunk of you is missing.
The doctor approaches you, “You’re on a space ship- my space ship. There was an attack, the Dal- aliens uh- bad aliens. They took your memories away.”
If you hadn’t seen the outside of the spaceship- god that’s a weird thing to say- you wouldn’t have believed him. You almost didn’t believe him knowing where you are.
You swallow a lump in your throat, “So… what am I doing here?”
The Doctor walks over to you, taking off his trenchcoat to wrap it around your shoulders. “You travel with me, this ship- its also a time machine. We would travel though space and time, normally running into trouble. I’m so sorry, I never thought something like this would happen.” He pushes your hair out of your face, tucking it behind your ear.
Tears fall down your cheeks, you still don’t know how much time you lost- but hearing what you’ve done with this man. You can’t believe you don’t remember any of it.
“Will you- can my memories come back?” You asked, looking into his eyes.
No matter how calm he tries to portray himself as, you can see how distraught he is in his eyes. Whoever you were to him, you must’ve been very special.
He takes a staggered breath, “I don’t know. I could try, do you want them back?”
You didn’t know the answer to that question. One one hand, the idea of you having lost these huge things- scared you like crazy. What if you weren’t the same person you are now?
But you desperately wanted to know if what he was saying was true, and more than that, what he was keeping from you.
“Yes.” You replied, the tears finally coming to a stop.
The Doctor’s eyes seemed to light up at this, walking around the circular control panel, pressing all sorts of buttons and pulling leavers.
“Let’s go then.”

TWO DOCTORS: Tenth Doctor
Pairing: Tenth Doctor x OC, Platonic!Donna x OC,
Warnings: Daleks, Davros, lots of unwarranted jealousy from both Rose and Vera. I left out the sad Donna bit at the end because its already so long and that bit is too sad for me to write (yet)
Summary: The last episode of Season 4, Journeys End rewrite but with Vera and a very jealous Rose
Word Count: 3.5K
Tumblr media
Somehow, there were two Doctors. I’d missed the explanation for it, if there had been one at all. I wouldn’t have been surprised if there hadn’t been one. The situation seemed way too tense to stop and explain something that didn’t seem too important. I hope I wasn’t the only one that didn’t have a clue of what was going on.
I hadn’t been in the universe. I hadn’t been in this time, and I had no clue how I had been brought here, but one second I was on a different planet, talking to someone about some random topic, just learning and exploring like I always did, and the next I was on the floor of a ship.
Both Doctors were standing over at the side of the room. It was murky and horrid wherever we were. I didn’t know much. But I knew that the Daleks were back. They survived. Somehow they survived, and that was the main thing.
Everyone on Gallifrey had heard of Davros, even before the Time War began, and now, he stood above me, snarling down at me.
“Last of the Timelords, huh, Doctor?” Davros teases, looking up and over to him.
The Doctor steps forward, as far as he could in his bubble, snarling over to Davros. “Don’t you touch her Davros, don’t you dare.”
The girl standing next to him had her eyebrows furrowed. I didn’t recognise her, and the Doctor had introduced me to every companion he’d met. She turned to the Doctor and spoke. “Doctor, who is she?”
“Ah. Yes.” He spoke, hesitant. “Vera, this is Rose Tyler, a… friend. Rose, this is Vera Rubato, my wife.”
Rose’s eyes went wide, turning to the Doctor with a facial expression that I could decipher as only disgust or jealousy. Maybe he had had a thing with her before he met me. I wasn’t fussed, but it was a little confusing. Why hadn’t I met her? Why hadn’t he even mentioned her before?
Either way, I was his wife. She wasn’t.
Davros spoke again, drawing our attention away from each other. “Stand up, Miss Rubato.”
I did what he told me to, since I wasn’t in the mood to regenerate, but as soon as I did, a barrier zoomed around me, similar to what both Doctor’s were held in, locking us in. “Will someone tell me what the hell is going on, please?”
“God, shut up, there are more important things.”
The Doctor, my Doctor, holds a hand out, as if he was stopping Rose from pushing her way out of the invisible prison and starting a fist fight with me. “Rose, not right now.”
I watched as she crossed her arms over her chest and grumbled. There was a slight smile on my face, which he definitely noticed.
Davros drove forward, facing the Doctor, a wicked grin on his wrinkled face. “Two girls. Two Doctors. What do I do with this?”
And then, just as I was about to butt in and ruin Davros’ monologue, the Tardis doors swing open. Finally, someone I knew, someone I could trust storms out.
“I’ve got you Doctor! Don’t worry!” And Donna Noble reaches down and picks up the gun on the floor. I hadn’t even noticed it was there, too busy with the rest of the surroundings. Chances were, it was the most important thing here, and could save everything. Or at least save what was at risk. I still hadn’t gotten an explanation.
But she wasn’t fast enough.
Davros spun and zapped Donna, throwing her to the side of the room, behind machinery that looked important. There was nothing anyone could do. Both the Doctor and I would have been running towards her, and I could hear him shouting beside me, but she wasn’t getting up. She was out cold.
Not even Timelords can survive Daleks, let alone humans. I didn’t want to think about that. I didn’t want to think about that at all. We had no choice but to continue. The Doctor was angrier than he was before, which I didn’t think possible. I could hear him shout at Davros, words and insults I wanted to say but didn’t have the energy.
“That’s it!” Davros cried, a gleeful grin with such a wicked undertone painted on his face, looking at the Doctor with a horrid awe. “Show your companions who you really are. The wrath of the timelord!”
“Doctor.” Rose’s murmur was quiet. I wasn’t even talking.
“Watch, faithful companions, as the man you thought was honourable and honest, and kind to everyone he meets, watch as he becomes the very thing he swears not to be. A killer. A murderer. The murderer of the timelords. This is who he really is and as much as he can try to hide it, this is who he is, and who he will always be.” Davros monologues, snarling at the Doctor whose facial expression was worse than anger, worse than hatred or loathing.
I knew what this did to him. I knew how these words affected him and how much remorse he felt for what he had done in the past. I knew he regretted what he did to Gallifrey, and so did Davros, but this time, he was using it against the Doctor. An action that made my heart burn with a similar anger.
“Doctor, don’t listen to him.” I whispered across, hoping he could hear me over all the noise in his mind. All the voices that were yelling insecurities at him. But it was like he couldn’t hear me. Like all the noise was too much or that he was so angry at Davros - rightfully so - that he wasn’t in tune with the world, blinded by the white hot anger that Davros had plagued him with.
No longer was I concentrating on Donna, or the other Doctor, or the fact that Rose somehow thought she had a right to my Doctor over me. Or even Martha, and the few other people, Jack, and more I didn’t recognise. All I wanted to do was help him. Break out of this god-forsaken prison and help him.
But maybe he was the only one that could save us; because Donna was alive.
I could see her from the corner of my eye, stepping up from behind the large machine, using the metal to pull her up. The frown left my sight at my friend, who I could tell had changed. Something was different: I didn’t know what, but something had changed, and that something might just be the thing we needed to save her. The frown left my lips, replaced by a smirk that I failed to hold back. Davros noticed, though.
“What?” He asked, driving away from the attention of the Doctor and back in front of me, as close as he could get with me trapped in the prison.
I smiled, shrugging and crossing my arms across my chest, spotting the Doctor’s frown from my peripheral vision. “Nothing.”
It was evident I’d struck a nerve by not explaining my sudden change in expression, but then again, that was the point. I watched as Davros drove away from us. I had also made the Doctor, both Doctor’s, mad for provoking Davros, but I had a plan.
It wasn’t a very good plan at the moment, but it was something.
“Enough!” Davros shouted, driving further and sitting in front of an unnamed Dalek that didn’t even have a shell anymore. I didn’t want to think about how he had gotten into that state. “The plan will come into place, there is nothing stopping them and now that I have you all captured, I have no need for you to all be alive.”
“You brought us all here just to kill us?” Rose shouts.
“Kill them!” Davros orders, ignoring Rose and pointing in our direction.
The grin on my lips only grew asI settled on my left hip and arms crossed as the rest of the panicked. As the Daleks were about to drive over to us to kill us, I looked over at Donna who smiled and winked at me.
“Dalek control? Hacked.” She grinned, flicking a switch in the machine.
Immediately, the Daleks started spinning around in circles, unable to control themselves and where they went. Everyone, including both Doctor’s, started laughing at the sight.
Donna flicks yet another switch. “Prison barriers down!”
And the blue barriers surrounding us fall, letting us out. Donna lets out a shout as we start running towards her.
“Donna!” The Doctor shouts, still grinning and laughing. “But you can’t even change a plug?”
“That was a two-way metacrisis; half human, half Timelord!” She grins, and even I can spot that little bit of the Doctor in her, especially as her eyes frantically move and dart about in a way that is so the Doctor. “But I got the best part of him. I got his mind.”
I smirked, looking over to my Doctor. “Best part? You sure?”
The Doctor’s face dropped, enjoying the comment but not wanting to show it, a half smirk on his lips and that subtly flirtatious look in his eyes that I hoped no one else could see.
Rose butted in between us, pushing me away from him. “Anyway… We’ve still got things to do. We’ve got 27 in the wrong place and the wrong time, we have to get them home.”
Donna clicked her fingers at Rose. “Yes! Come on then you skinny boys in suits, we’ve got planets to relocate!”
Both Doctor’s leaped around to the machine, immediately laughing and flicking switches all in time with each other. I watch them all, not noticing what anyone else behind me is doing, but rather focusing on the Doctor. My Doctor. Who was Rose? How did she know the Doctor and why was she so insistent on keeping us apart? I didn’t have time to talk to him about it, not now. I’d find out after this was all over, and I’d have a good talk to him about it. If Rose ever let us be alone again.
I turned to the monitors on the machine, watching as they showed each planet leaving and getting home in time with the switches being flicked. I watched as, without command, all the people I didn’t know, that were probably connected to Rose, started pushing Dalek’s into each other. They were all exploding as they did so. It was all so chaotic, but so long as everyone here and everyone on the 27 planets were safe, then it didn’t matter.
As all the Daleks were slowly being destroyed, I leaped towards the Tardis, opening it with the key I had latched around my neck and standing at the door. “Come on everyone! Get inside the Tardis!”
“Only a few more planets, Vera!” My Doctor shouts, smiling over to me from the machine, adoration in his eyes. “Go on everyone, follow Vera and get in the Tardis.”
People slowly piled in, and I didn’t think I’d ever seen this many people inside the Tardis at one moment before. Martha, Jack, Rose, someone called Mickey and Jackie. Even Sarah Jane, who my Doctor had told me about before. Soon enough, the Doctor spinted over to me, he entered the Tardis, resting his hand on my upper arm and looking down at me with a love I saw from no one else.
“You alright?”
I nodded, grinning. “Yeah, all good. Let’s get everyone home.”
He squeezed my arm one more time before running up to the console. “Vera, get Donna and… the other one. We need both of them in here before we can leave.”
I nodded, looking out the door, ready to call them both, but seeing Donna already stalking towards the Tardis. The other Doctor was still standing at the machine, staring intently at the monitor. Suddenly there was a low rumble and the whole ship shook, a loud explosion erupting from the floor and setting new rubble on fire, only creating more chaos.
“What did you do!” I shouted over to him, looking up at him as ran over to the ship, stepping inside the Tardis and looking down at me.
“I saved us.” He had such an innocent look on his face, as if he hadn’t done anything wrong.
“You committed genocide!”
“Against the Daleks, Vera.” He negotiated, completely believing his own words as if they weren’t defending behaviour that my Doctor would never dare to think about doing, not again. “Against the species that ruined our planet and took our people, our families and homes away!”
“They were still living.” I scolded, watching as his face fell. “And now, what makes you any better than them? Go on, get inside.”
He walked into the main room of the Tardis where everyone else stands at the console. I close the Tardis doors and follow him, looking up at my Doctor, catching eyes with him, looking confused but sympathetic. He then turned to everyone else.
“Right! One more planet to go, and I’m going to need everybodies help.”
Tumblr media
I stepped out of the Tardis onto a beach. Donna stepped out behind me, but after the metacrisis she probably knew where this was and why it was important. I didn’t.
My Doctor and the other Doctor stood on the sand, Rose too, turning around as she realised where they were. Of course it had something to do with her. I watched as they spoke, unable to hear them. I knew it was probably for the best but my curiosity got the better of me. I stalked forward a little, edging further from the Tardis and closer to these three people.
“He committed genocide. He’s too dangerous.” My Doctor spoke, standing tall in front of Rose, a melancholy look on his face. “He has to stay here.”
“And I do as well?” Rose asked, a look on her face that didn’t belong there. That shouldn’t have been there.
“Yes. You have no place back home, and you have a life, here, now.” He explained. “We have no life together anymore, but he can.”
The other Doctor turned to Rose, taking her hand. “I’m part human, specifically the ageing part. I’ll grow old and eventually die. I could spend it with you, if you want.”
“You’ll grow old with me?” Rose was conflicted, I could see it in her face. She turned to the other Doctor. He nods. She had that look in her eyes that I saw in the Doctor when he first met me. That confusion, but also love. She was in love with the Doctor. “I just have one question.” She turns to my Doctor, who still stands between me and Rose. “Who is she?”
And I make eye contact with her. She doesn’t know I can hear.
“Who is who?” The Doctor replies.
“Vera. Who is she?”
The Doctor shrugs, but I can’t see his expression so I can’t tell what he’s thinking. “She’s just Vera.”
Just Vera. We’re married but okay.
“Who is she to you?”
There was a small moment of silence before he spoke again. I couldn’t tell what he was thinking or what was going through his mind, and whatever he said now could either make my life or shatter me more than losing Gallifrey did.
“She’s the love of my life.”
“You did exactly what you said you wouldn’t do.” Rose cries, her own heart broken by what he had answered with, whereas my hearts were flying. “You replaced me. You said you never would-”
He shook his head. “She’s a Timelord, Rose. The one thing I have left of my planet.”
“I crossed parallel universes for you, Doctor.”
“She’s Timelord. I can have a real life with her, I can grow old and die with her. I can’t do that with you.” My doctor tells her, looking over to the other Doctor who steps forward and takes Rose’s hand in his.
Donna lifts her chin next to me. “Doctor, we haven’t got long.”
The Doctor nods and turns back around to Rose. “The gap is closing up again. I won’t ever see you again, Rose. I’m sorry.”
Rose stayed silent. As much as I didn’t like it, there was no denying her and the Doctor had a history, and I could almost feel how he was feeling. Her staying silent must have killed him inside. Even more was left unsaid as I watched the Doctor turn around, starting to walk away from Rose and towards me.
I could see the other Doctor holding onto her hand tightly, and I could just about see a tear fall from where I stood. My doctor reached me, and I looked up at him, finding his eyes and finally being able to decipher how he felt.
“Get inside the Tardis, I just want to talk to her.”
“We don’t have much time.”
“I won’t be long.” I promise, reaching a hand up and cupping his jaw. “Don’t leave without me.”
He nods and walks away off to the Tardis, Donna following shortly behind him. I make my way over to Rose, stalking across the sand that I can also feel in my shoes. Her eyebrows furrow at the sight of me, but I just smile slightly. I have no reason to hate her and there is no way I blame her at all for being in love with the Doctor.
“Hi.” I greet, sending her a small smile.
“Hi.”
“I want you to know this isn’t your or his fault. If it’s anyone’s fault then it’s mine because I found him again, but that’s not the point.” I start to laugh at myself slightly, watching as Rose tries to figure out my point. “I don’t have long, but I genuinely believe that if he could, he would spend his life with you, but he can’t. And if he could, then he would eventually have to lose you again, which I don’t think he could handle.”
Rose looks over to the Tardis doors, now closed. “He’s losing me now, he might as well lose me later.”
“He likes to get things over and done with.”
“And how do you know that?”
“Because he’s my husband.” I shrug, looking her in the eye, though she refuses to meet mine. “And I know him, more than you ever could.”
“You-”
But I interrupted, knowing that she would end up shouting at me, which we didn’t have time for. “Listen, I didn’t mean that in a bad way. Only two Timelords can have the connection that the Doctor and I have. It’s not that he wouldn’t have that connection with you, it’s that he physically can’t. Just treasure the Doctor that you have, because he’s the best one for you.”
“I have my Doctor, and you have yours.” Rose speaks, finally looking up.
“Yeah.” I smile. “Listen, I’ve gotta go, but I hope you have a good life with your Doctor.”
Rose nods, reaching out a hand. “And you have a good life with yours.” And with that, I take her hand, shaking it. I wasn’t going to hug her, and part of me still felt like she hated me, but a handshake would do. At least she wouldn’t be angry at my Doctor anymore, that was my goal.
I turned, and made my way to the Tardis, leaving Rose and the other Doctor behind. It was murky in the Tardis as I closed the door behind me, but even more melancholy from the Doctor, my Doctor. I couldn’t see him straight away, but as I got further into the Tardis console room, I saw him on the far side of the console, hands pressed against the cold metal.
“I’m sorry.” Was all he said.
“For what?” I asked, making my way to him and hopping onto the console, leaning into him.
He only shrugged. “I should have told you about her.”
“Don’t worry about it.” I told him, resting my head on his shoulder and waiting for a reply. After he doesn’t say anything, I lifted my head and pulled his chin up to look at me. “Want to talk?”
He shook his head. I didn’t know how else to help, so I shuffled my way in front of him and where he stood and pulled him into a hug. He probably didn’t know how much he needed it but he figured it out when he got the hug, because he had a tight grip around my waist and his head buried into my neck.
Donna walked back into the main room to see the heartfelt hug, and nodded knowingly. I pulled a thankful face as she left again, leaving the Doctor and I alone once more.
We still had Donna to deal with, because she physically wasn’t possible. More of an anomaly than the Doctor could ever be, and she would be able to handle it. But that could wait. We still had a few hours until it really kicked in. Until then, I had to make sure the Doctor was alright.

nobody said trying to date and travel through time and space would’ve been easy.  that was until you met jordan, handsome, charismatic jordan. he was everything you could’ve dreamed of. well, almost. he wasn’t the doctor, but since you had it in your mind it could never happen, you settled for what you had.
jordan was so understanding of you traveling around, “bring me back a star!.” he joked.
the doctor and you had just come back from alpha centuri and he even let you keep a small space rock to give to your love. much to your surprise jordan was kissing another girl.
your heart shattered, you thought he was loyal to you all this time. a year of your life wasted away by him. “care to explain to me what’s going on?” you confronted him. his jaw dropped and he immediately pushed the girl off him. “y-y/n! it’s not what it looks like i swear!”
“oh i think it’s exactly what it looks like. c’mon love. let’s go you don’t need him.” the doctor ushered you away and into the tardis.
you couldn’t help but break down and sob. how could he? he did seem too excited that you were traveling with the doctor but you didn’t see it as you being a bit on the side, you thought he was just genuinely happy for you.
“love, im so sorry. he didn’t deserve you, he was an arse just using you.” the doctor held you as you cried into his suit jacket. his touch was gentle, as if you were a doll made of porcelain. “how can i make it up to you mhmm? lunch in new new york? crepes straight from france? i’ll do anything love, i’m desperate to see that beautiful smile again.”
you swiped away at the tears that rolled down your cheeks, confused at what you just heard. you know he had a habit of calling you “love” but you thought of that as him mindlessly flirting. you should’ve known nothing the doctor does is “mindless”. you look up at the time lord, a puzzled look on your face speaks for you. “oh for god’s sake y/n! i’m in love with you. i’ve been in love with you since we met and you started traveling with me. it broke my hearts when i saw you with him, i wished it could be us instead. please darling, i know it’s poor timing but can we be an us?”
"doctor, i dont know what to say..." "say yes, please my darling." the doctor stared at you with his big brown eyes, almost with a puppy dog like stare. "yes doctor." he leaned down into you and grabbed you with the most intensity  youve seen from him as he kissed you for the first time. your lips collided and it felt like a universe ahs been born between you two.
the timelord deepened the kiss, his hands roaming your body until they landed on your ass, grabbing it gently. "i wanna help you forget all about him. you shouldve never been with him, i wanted you from the beginning. i shouldve been more open to you love.” he broke away to catch his breath and confess more.
“help me forget him then doctor, i want you, so bad.” you tugged at his hair, pulling him towards you. your hands tangled in his hair as he kissed you once more. “now that you’re mine love, i’m not letting you go.” he led you to his room on board the tardis and laid you down gently on his bed. the kiss got a lot more intense, hands tugging at each other’s clothes, you managed to pull his suit jacket off and undo some buttons while your shirt was completely gone. the two of you pulled away breathlessly, foreheads resting against each other. the doctor looked at you with such admiration in his eyes.
“are you sure you want this love?” he asked you, hands hovering over your breasts. you nodded your head slowly, looking up at the much older timelord. "please doctor..." he reached behind you, unclasping your bra. his touch so delicate almost feather like. as your straps slid off your shoulders the doctor licked his lips, “love you are breathtakingly beautiful.” his head dove down to kiss and lick at your chest while his hands worked on removing your bottoms.
the timelord parted away from you, pulling off his shirt and moving down your body to your dripping sex. "doctor, don't be a tease..." you whined out to him. suddenly he was on his knees in front of you, "may i darling?" almost too eagerly you responded, nodding your head rapidly. he kissed his way up and down your thighs, avoiding the one place you desperately needed him most.
"tell me love, are you mine?" the doctor's lips ghosted over your core. "yes, gods yes doctor please just do something." "as you wish love."
you barely had time to register what was happening since he leaned in and licked a stripe up to your clit. "taste as good as you look." he dove back in, eating like a man starved while you writhed and moaned above him.
"that's it love, be a good girl and cum for me." his tongue replaced by his nimble fingers, quickly curling inside you. you felt your whole body tense up before the waves of pleasure crashed over you.
you got up to return the favor but the doctor stopped you. "sorry darling, but tonight is about you. tonight, i'm going to fuck you until you forget that assholes name."

"Yes I have feelings for you, moving on."
Tumblr media
"Y/N?! Can I come in???"
You heard a flurry of knocks at your bedroom door as an excited Doctor rushed in before waiting for an answer.
"Why yes Doctor you may enter my room," you laughed. "What if I was changing or something in here?"
"Well I uh.. It hasn't happened yet!" he fought back.
You giggled and rolled your eyes at how flustered he got, something that you noticed happening often. Although you just chalked it up to that being a part of his personality, especially when he has so many lovely women flirting with him on your trips together.
He flopped onto your bed and stared at you.
"So! What are we doing today hm? Go see the stars of Ntiri, or perhaps an alien market, or we could go back to the time of the Renaissance!" he ended with a flair.
"A ball sounds nice, like in France. Marie Antoinette times! But preferably without the Reign of Terror, running isn't exactly on my wishlist for things today," you pondered aloud.
He jumped up and twirled you around, making you go all the way up on your tippy toes.
"Well alrighty then Ms. Y/N! The Yew Ball awaits!"
You rush out to see him start slamming levers and pulling bits and bobs as your center of balance is thrown away like it wasn't even there in the first place. It always amazed you how the Doctor managed to stay up the way he did. He was by no means the most graceful man you had ever met, but the TARDIS didn't seem to throw him around the same way it did you.
As he pulled you up and brushed some stray hairs out of your eyes, a thought hit you.
"Doctor?"
"Yes love?" he replied.
"Where are we supposed to get the right attire for this? My blouse and blue jeans won't exactly fit in a 16th century setting."
"Ah, don't worry about that, I'll get it all sorted out for us," he grinned.
The two of you walked out of the TARDIS, finding yourselves in a storage closet of sorts. You walked out and around the corner, up so many stairs you thought you might pass out, and then finally a couple more turns before stopping at a large white door with gold details.
The Doctor rapped on the door gently before a small brown haired woman appeared in a plain corset and dress.
He whipped out his psychic paper and the woman's face lit up.
"Oh! Madame you must hurry the ball starts soon!!!" she chimed.
She yanked you into the room as you gave the Doctor a very confused look while he just simply grinned back at you.
You then spent the next few hours getting your makeup done and having a multitude of dresses shown for you to choose from. It took at least one of those hours to convince the women helping you to not make you wear a wig, even if it is a sign of wealth, you just can't stand the itchiness.
Eventually, you made your way to the main ball room, stopping at the top of the stairs. The Doctor stood with his hands in his pockets admiring the view around him opposite you.
As his gaze met yours his eyes lit up and a wide smile crossed his face. He was in a royal, no, TARDIS blue coat and pants, with a golden waistcoat, and creme colored tights that he looked very upset to be wearing.
The two of you met at the top of the largest staircase, where the other two converged.
"You look absolutely stunning Y/N," he whispered.
You were given a ball gown in the exact same shade of gold as the Doctor's waistcoat, with your corset and center piece of material a light shade of cornflower blue, complementing your complexion perfectly.
"You look rather dashing yourself Doctor," you cooed.
He bowed to you deeply, arose, then held out a delicate hand to lead you down the stairs.
You proceeded to wander around the room, talking to many couples, eventually getting to meet Marie Antoinette herself. She found you most exciting, and thought you were the most intelligent person in the room.
The night began to slow, and the Doctor was leading you in your final waltz for the night.
"Doctor, I wouldn't have traded this night for anything," you said softly. "Although we must go into the past more often, we don't go nearly enough."
"I agree, the nights are always wonderful with the one you love most..." he stated holding onto your hand even tighter.
"Wait.. Doctor say that again?"
You couldn't believe what he had just said, did he really just say that he loved you the most??
"Yes, I have feelings for you, moving on," he brushed off.
"Wait a minute you can't just move on from this Doctor! You really love me?"
"My dear Y/N, why in the multitude of universes, wouldn't I love you? You are the sweetest person I've ever met, you're strong, capable, and gorgeous to the moons and back."
You blushed and smiled fondly.
"Which moons Doctor?"
"Any of them love, as long as you come with me," he whispered, tipping your chin up and kissing you gently.
You felt a swirl of emotions that you never knew you could feel before, and even more as he swung you off your feet, and placing you down gently.
"Uh, Doctor.. I think we're being stared at," you pointed out.
The entire room turned to look at you both, A truly handsome couple, the queen thought.
He placed a hand around your waist and began leading you back to the TARDIS.
"Well then, they'll definitely be staring after they see us walking into broom closet together," he snickered.
Your mouth dropped but returned to a content smile, not believing the wonderful night that just occurred.

Secrets big and small
tenth doctor x GN!reader
Summary: in which you are forced to admit your feelings for the Doctor, even if you think he will leave you for it
A/N: For the absolute love of my life and favorite beta, thanks for dealing with me talking about this more than I wrote it
Tumblr media
The Doctor poked his head out of the TARDIS, his nose twitching as he sniffed the air. After a few good inhales, he popped back inside the ship, his eyebrows furrowed in concentration.
You waited by the ship's console, your hands planted firmly on your hips. The Doctor had promised you a beach vacation, and judging by his face, this wasn’t a beach. Sometimes you wondered how much control the Doctor actually had over the ship, considering it only landed in the places he intended about 25% of the time.
“We’re not at a beach are we?”
The Doctor ignored your question and moved over to the console, grabbing one of the many oddly shaped screens attached to the control panel. He pulled his glasses out of his suit pocket, perching the spectacles on the bridge of his nose.
“Interesting…” He hummed, more to himself than you.
“Where did we end up this time?” You asked, opening the door to peek outside. You knew better than to walk off without the Doctor, but a little look had never hurt you.
The minute you opened the door you were met with the bustling noise of a street. All kinds of aliens walked by you, each one unique in their own way.
“It would appear we landed on the planet Phact, but I’m not sure why.”
You continued to stare out of the TARDIS wide-eyed, taking in all of the strange creatures before you. Your eyes followed an individual who walked by, a series of tentacles hanging out of his mouth.
“Is it safe?” you asked as an afterthought.
“As far as I know,” the Doctor shrugged, putting his glasses back in his pocket. He moved away from the console to stand at your side by the door.
You looked over at him, debating if you should tell him that wasn’t exactly a reassuring thought.
“Since we’re here…” he smiled cheekily, inclining his head toward the door. You laughed and rolled your eyes. The Doctor never could resist a good adventure.
You followed him out the door, waiting momentarily as he locked the TARDIS up.
“Remember that time you forgot to tell me it was rude to wear less than three layers on Titan 4?” you ask, watching him slip the key back into his endless coat pockets.
The Doctor shrugs, pushing his hands into his pockets and leaning toward you. “Yeah, what about it?”
“Is there anything I should know about this planet?” you raise your eyebrows questioningly.
The Doctor’s brow wrinkled as he thought about it, trying to remember his limited knowledge about Phact.
“I don’t think so,” he shrugged again, smiling softly.
You scrunched your nose slightly, not sure you believed him. Still, you followed him.
The Doctor talked excitedly as the two of you walked through the city streets. Most of the time, you only understood half of the words he was saying. Frankly, you just enjoyed listening to him talk.
As you walked your eyes took in everything around you. It didn’t matter how long you traveled with the Doctor, it always seemed like there was more for you to learn and discover.
The Doctor continued talking, waving his hands about in the air. Abruptly, he stopped to look at a nearby poster. You followed him, trying to peek over his shoulder to see what he was looking at. The Doctor shifted to the side so you could read the sign too, the TARDIS translation circuit making the writing legible to you.
“The 998th Olympic games?” you read aloud, your eyebrows furrowed.
“That would explain all of the species here!” he smiled brightly, looking at the diverse crowd around you.
You nodded in agreement, following his gaze. There really did appear to be all kinds of species from around the galaxy.
“Want to go?” He whispered to you, raising his eyebrows mischievously.
“We don’t have tickets. Or money.”
The Doctor wiggled his eyebrows again, pulling the psychic paper out of his pocket. He shook it at you with a mischievous grin.
A smile took over your own face as you nodded, “alright then,” you said excitedly. You’d never been to the Olympics, let alone the space Olympics.
The Doctor guided you through the crowd towards the giant area, holding your hand tightly so as not to lose you. You tried not to focus too much on the feeling of his hand wrapped around yours. He just didn’t want you to wander off, there wasn’t much else to it, right?
“Y’know I carried the Olympic torch once,” he smirked back at you, still guiding you through the crowds.
“Why am I not surprised?”
“What?” the Doctor asked, not catching your comment over the chatter of the crowd. You smiled softly and shook your head, deciding it was best not to repeat yourself.
The Doctor led you to the ticket line, waiting patiently for the guards to check your tickets and let you in. He bounced slightly on his feet, unable to stand still for too long.
“Are you sure this is going to work?” you asked anxiously, eyeing the copious amounts of security surrounding the arena.
“Of course!” the Doctor smiled brightly, rubbing the back of your hand with his thumb. The movement made both of you realize he was still holding your hand, even if he didn’t need to. With a small, hardly discernible blush, the Doctor slid his hand from yours.
The line moved forward and the guard asked for your tickets. The Doctor winked at you before handing the psychic paper over with a confident smile.
“Are you serious, mate?” The guard laughed dryly, looking between you and the Doctor.
“Most of the time,” the Doctor’s confident smile didn’t waver.
The guard sighed and leaned into his walkie-talkie, chattering softly to someone on the other end. You looked up at the Doctor with wide eyes, urging him to explain.
“Probably getting us a special escort or something,” he shrugged, turning the paper around to see what your fake tickets said. When his eyes landed on the paper his face instantly turned ghostly white.
“Doctor…” you growled softly.
“W-we should probably run now,” he whispered back. Before you could react, the security guard pulled the two of you firmly to the side.
“Doctor, what is going on?” You whispered as the guard led the two of you to a police car. At least, you assumed it was a police car. Unless flashing red and blue lights meant something else on other planets, it was definitely a police car.
“I’m sorry,” the Doctor winced softly as the security guard guided the two of you to an officer. The cop looked you up and down before guiding you inside of the car.
“I would feel a lot better if you told me why.”
You weren’t necessarily mad about the police car, it wasn’t the first time you had gotten arrested on the Doctor’s behalf. Usually, he was able to get you out of it. You were more frustrated that he wasn’t telling you what was happening.
“Remember Titan 4?” he winced.
“Doctor!” you snapped angrily, “I specifically asked you if I needed to know anything about this planet!”
“Right, I know I’m sorry, I forgot,” he whispered, shaking his head softly.
“How bad is it?” you sighed, looking down at your lap.
“They’re not gonna kill us,” he shrugged with a sad smile.
“What did we even do?”
“You can’t lie on Phact.”
“Like, physically?”
The Doctor grimaced, thinking the question through, “not exactly,” he offered. You waited for him to further explain.
“They can tell telepathically if you lie and that ability extends to psychic paper.”
“I gathered as such,” you sighed, “but that still doesn't explain why we’re in a cop car”
“It’s illegal to lie.”
“Seriously?” you gaped, “any kind of lie?”
The Doctor nodded.
“Even if you tell your friend she looks fine when she really looks a mess 'cause you want to spare her feelings?”
The Doctor frowned but nodded again, more tentatively this time.
“That’s a horrible idea.”
“Don’t tell them that.”
You sighed softly in agreement.
“I really am sorry,” he looked at you with those big, sad brown eyes of his. It was very, very hard to stay mad at him when he looked at you like that. It was your weakness.
“It’s fine,” you shook your head. “What are they going to do?”
Before the Doctor could answer, the car stopped and a cop came around to help you out of the car. The officer led you inside a very space-looking police station to a very Earth-looking interrogation room. You sat next to the Doctor in metal fold-out chairs, a table separating you and the officer. At least they didn’t cuff you.
“Names,” the officer groaned, clicking his pen and hovering it over a yellow legal pad. He had the kind of face and demeanor that told you he would rather be anywhere else.
“The Doctor.”
“Really funny, what’s your actual name?” the officer frowned.
“That’s my name,” the Doctor pouted, offended that someone would think it wasn’t. You smiled softly to yourself, finding the Doctor’s disappointed frown adorable.
“Fine,” the officer groaned, scribbling it down on his paper. “Age?”
“904,” he said without blinking. You hid your widening smile with your hand. You were starting to feel a little bad for the police officer.
“You’re how old?”
“904.”
“Species?”
“Gallifreyan.”
“Never heard of them,” the officer shook his head, writing it down on his paper. “You lot must age differently,” he grumbled, more towards his paper than the two of you.
“Right, and you?” the officer asked, tilting his head in your direction.
The Doctor nodded softly at you, urging you to comply with the officer’s wishes. You sighed and answered the same questions. The officer just seemed relieved to write down something less ridiculous.
“Alright,” he slid the paper pad away from him before leaning back in his chair with his arms crossed “You have been charged with a first-class felony of deception. You will not be fined or executed. To be released from custody you must provide your biggest secret”
“That’s it?” you asked, it seemed a little too simple. The officer nodded, clearly fed up with you and the Doctor.
“Look, folks, let’s just make this easier for all of us and get on with it?”
The Doctor nodded his agreement, casting a nervous look over at you. You nodded back, trying to think of something you could say. You knew easily what your biggest secret was, but you knew you couldn’t say it out loud. Especially not in front of the Doctor.
“I’m terrified of hospitals,” the Doctor said with a small frown.
“That’s ironic,” you chuckled, assuming he was making a joke. The officer stared at him for a few minutes, probably thinking the same thing.
“Checks out,” the officer sighed, writing “scared of hospitals” next to his other notes on the Doctor. “Weird secret, mate,” he added before turning his attention to you.
You fiddled anxiously before leaning back in your seat, your eyes trained on your hands.
“Does he have to be here for it?” you asked softly. The Doctor looked at you confused, wondering what was so bad you didn’t want him to know.
“I just admitted I'm terrified of hospitals as a doctor, it can't get worse than that,” he laughed.
“Does he?” you asked the officer, ignoring the Doctor. The cop looked between the two of you; the Doctor staring wide-eyed and open-mouthed at you, and you trying to act like he wasn’t there.
“Yes,” the officer challenged, leaning back in his seat again. You narrowed your eyes at him, wondering if he only said that to see how things would play out.
“So, what’s your secret?” he smirked, confirming your suspicions. “I’ll know if you’re lying”
You sighed, trying to steady your racing heart. You wanted to scream, maybe even cry. You wanted to blame the Doctor, even if it wasn’t really his fault. Even more, you wanted to wipe that stupid, smug smile off of the officer’s face.
You took one last look at the Doctor, smiling sadly at him. He looked back at you with confusion, unsure why you were looking at him as if it was the last time you’d ever see him. To you, it felt like it would be. He could never look at you the same, not after this.
“I’m in love with this idiot,” you sighed, cocking your head towards the Doctor. The silence that followed was deafening. While the Doctor’s brain struggled to process your words the officer sized you up, searching for any falsities in your statement.
“What a strange pair,” the officer shook his head, leaning forward to write on his pad again. “In love with the other one”
You looked at those words scribbled on the thin, crappy paper and felt your heart clench. It was out there now, the Doctor knew. At the moment, you couldn’t think of anything worse. You would rather spend your entire life in prison than have had to admit that.
“You’re free to go,” the officer waved you off, more preoccupied with writing more things on his paper pad. It seemed so simple, yet one little secret had turned your world upside down.
You nodded solemnly and stood up, heading out the door. The Doctor wasn’t far behind you.
The walk back to the TARDIS was really quiet, a stark contrast from a few short hours ago. You tried not to sulk too much as you walked through the busy streets back to the ship.
The Doctor unlocked the doors without a word, holding them open for you. You walked inside the ship for what you assumed was the last time. The Doctor followed, heading over to the console to mess with a few buttons.
“I’ll pack my things,” you whispered, more to the floor than the Doctor. You moved towards the hallway that led to your room but the Doctor cut you off.
“What?”
“I’ll pack up,” your eyes remained trained on the floor, not wanting to look into his. You knew the Doctor wasn’t going to keep you around after this. It was glaringly clear that he didn’t have those feelings for you, that he couldn’t.
“Why would you do that?” he frowned, moving away from the console.
“You’re kicking me out.”
“I think I would know if I was.” He moved so he was standing in front of you, tilting his head down in an attempt to catch your eye.
“It’s ok,” you shook your head, your eyes trained on your shoes, “I know you don’t want me around anymore.”
“Is this about the whole secret thing?” the Doctor asked gently.
“I know you don’t feel the same, I never expected you to,” you shook your head, averting your gaze again. “I’d understand if you just wanted to drop me back at home.”
“Is that what you want?”
You shook your head, clearing your throat, “It’s not exactly about what I want is it?”
The Doctor remained silent, his mind working for the right thing to say. He didn’t fully comprehend what was happening.
“You’re under the assumption that I’m going to drop you because you love me?” He said softly, still trying to catch your eye.
“Is that not what’s happening right now?” You frowned, confused.
The Doctor laughed softly, moving away from you with one long stride. He ran his hands through his hair, tugging at the spiky strands. You continued to frown at him, confused by his demeanor.
“I can establish a psychic block,” he explained, waving his hands about as he talked. You frowned, confused as to why he was talking about this now. “I told the officer a secret, but I didn’t tell him my greatest secret.”
He had the kind of look on his face he got when he was trying, and failing, to figure something out. It was a look you knew well at this point, you had just never been the cause of it.
“There’s so much of you in my head,” he groaned, waving his hands by the sides of his face, “which is saying a lot 'cause I have more in my head than you will ever experience in your entire life.”
You gaped at him, unsure what you were supposed to say in this scenario. Was this his secret?
“You take up so much space,” he emphasized exasperatedly, repeatedly running his hands through his hair. “Even when you’re not here I’m constantly thinking about you!” He leaned his hands against the console, hanging his head as he continued rambling.
You stared at him like he had grown a second head. No, three extra heads. And a tail.
“I’m sorry, what?” you asked.
The Doctor moved back over to you, reaching out to cradle your face in his hands. He cupped your cheeks gently and bent his head forward so your foreheads connected.
“You take up so much space,” he whispered, his breath fanning across your face. “And the fact that you can’t see that kills me, it really kills me.”
“Doctor-” you whispered in shock. In your mind, there was only ever one way that the Doctor could react to your feelings, and this certainly wasn’t it. “Are you saying what I think you are?”
The Doctor laughed sharply, shaking his head against yours, “You’re clueless, y’know that?”
“You’re not much better,” you frowned back. “But that doesn’t answer my question.” Your heart thudded against your chest, threatening to beat right out of your body. The mere implication that the Doctor could have even a shred of feelings for you was sending your senses into overdrive.
“Yes, I am,” he whispered. That was all you needed. You knew it was hard for him to say things like this. He wasn’t exactly the “I love you” type. The fact that he had said this much already was a wonder.
You didn’t really think about it, you just kissed him. His lips fit against yours perfectly and the kiss was over much sooner than either of you had wanted.
Your face was still cradled in his hands as the Doctor bent down to press another, quicker kiss against your lips, returning the act of affection. You smiled happily as he pulled back, looking up at him with pure adoration.
“Are you really afraid of hospitals though?” you asked, your eyebrows furrowed.
“Terrified,” he shook his head.

PRESENT DAY, TARDIS, FLOATING AROUND SPACE
"Y/n!"
You roll over, turning away from the noise you had yet to register as The Doctor calling your name. You were having a wonderful dream, one you couldn't quite recall now. You try to fall back into the euphoric dream atmosphere your subconscious had created, one where the only detail you seemed familiar was The Doctor's lips on yours, but that's a nightly occurrence. It's an unusual situation — a human, in love with a Time Lord who was likely to send you away at any time. And to have dreams where you kiss him! It's quite embarrassing, and you've sworn to never say a word to anyone.
"Y/n!"
You blink a few times, eyes adjusting to the dark of your bedroom. Now you can make out the familiar shapes of the simple room. You realize it was The Doctor yelling for you from across TARDIS, now bounding up the stairs, you hear. He knocks loudly on your bedroom door, rattling it just slightly.
"You can come in," you yell just loud enough for him to hear. You sit up, leaning back on your hands. He bursts' into your room, door hitting the wall behind it, he looked crazy — hair mussed up, clothes crooked, a huge grin plastered on his face. "Wait," you tell him, holding up a hand. "Don't tell me, Earth needs saving, doesn't it?" He nods frantically, throwing your blankets off of you, grabbing your hand in both of his and ushering you out of bed.
"Daleks, probably." Is all he says as he drags you to your bathroom. "Go on, get ready." You smile as he opens the door for you, placing a hand on your lower back to push you into the bathroom.
You flip on the light, turning to the sink. You brace your hands on the counter, letting out a huff of a laugh when you look at your flushed cheeks in the mirror, shaking your head. Incredible, he is incredible.
When you return from the bathroom a few minutes later, with a washed face and clean teeth, The Doctor is waiting for you, laying sprawled out on your bed. The things I could do with him laying there like that. Hmm.
You blink hard, ridding yourself of those thoughts. God, that was utterly appalling, and he's The Doctor, he's your best friend. Stop it. You take a deep breath, clearing your throat. "Is there something you need?" You ask with a chuckle, sitting at the edge of your bed next to his stomach, and you have the urge to run your fingers through his hair. He's just so pretty, I can't help it.
"Yes," he says, sounding oddly excited. "I need you to hurry, breakfast is nearly done and you need to eat before we go to Earth." He sits up, leaning back on his hands. You lick your lips, smiling.
"What'd you make?"
"Well, for my little American friend, otherwise known as Y/n, I made your pancakes. And for the Ponds I made regular pancakes." He smiled at you, proud he remembered how you liked yours. He attempted once to make you pancakes, but they were more like crepes than the fluffy pancakes you're used to. You ate them, they were good, but when he asked what you thought you revealed that you were used to more cake like pancakes.
"Aw, that's sweet you remembered." You gave him a quick hug. You shouldn't have, because, God, you didn't want to let go. He's so warm, and he wraps his arms around your shoulders and it's like he's saying he's going to protect you from any dangers, anywhere.
He smiled at you as you pulled back, "Of course, I want you to be happy here. I want you to stay." He makes you want to melt. Just become a puddle at his feet, he's such a sweetheart.
You're the newest addition to The Doctor's little family, joining his adventures just six months ago. He still feels like he needs to make you happy, so he keeps doing these nice things for you, that's the only reason he keeps doing these things for you — well, pretty sure.
"I'm not going anywhere, Eleven."
∆∆∆
SIX MONTHS AGO, TARDIS
"So, this is your eleventh body?" You ask, leaning against the kitchen counter, holding your coffee between your hands.
"Pretty much, my eleventh regeneration." He nods, he's standing opposite of you, barely a foot from you.
"That's cool. Can I call you Eleven? It's just kind of weird to call you Doctor." You realize as soon as the words come out of your mouth that that sounded extremely rude. "Oh jeez, I didn't mean- I just meant, I'm sorry. Your name is great, it'll just take some getting used to. I'm sorry." You scramble to get out, and he watches with an amused expression.
"It's okay, I promise you, it isn't the first time."
"Oh no, I didn't mean for it to come out like that. Dammit." You set your coffee down, dropping your face into your hands. "I'm sorry."
"It's alright. You can call me Eleven, that sounds nice." You look up. Maybe it's just your imagination, but it looks like his cheeks are tinted red. You give him a small, apologetic smile.
"Wait," you start to ask, smirk barely restrained on your face, "How old does that make you?"
"Older than I care to remember." He said, trying to tease back. But you could hear the sadness in his voice, the weight of the loss of everyone he's had to let go of. Your smirk immediately dropped, and you walked up to him sliding your arms under his to give him a great big hug, squeezing him tightly as you rest your cheek against his chest.
"I'm sorry," you whisper, feeling him finally hug you back, resting his head on top of yours as you rub your thumb over his little tweed jacket.
∆∆∆
"But you are going, unless you plan on me going down for breakfast in this." You gesture to yourself, too big t-shirt and short shorts on, you're so lucky that your shirt isn't see through — you don't have a bra on. He looks at your outfit quickly, perhaps lingering on your legs for a second too long, but that was just your imagination, surely. But what isn't your imagination is the way he licks his lips, capturing his bottom lip between his teeth when he looks back up at your face.
"No, I suppose not." He nodded, letting out a deep breath. You get off the bed, and he follows, smiling at you as he shuts the door.
You get dressed quickly, throwing on jeans and a bra underneath your shirt. It's fine, you think before grabbing a jacket.
You take the stairs as quick as possible, smelling the sweet pancakes in the air before you ever reached the kitchen of the TARDIS. You make an excited face as you bound into the rather large kitchen, "Smells so good." You raise your eyebrows at Amy when you catch her eye, gesturing at The Doctor who was currently wearing a "Kiss the Cook" apron. She just let out a short laugh, shrugging. You smile as you slowly walk over to him, leaning on your elbow on the counter next to him.
"Interesting wardrobe change, Eleven." You tug at the apron when he turns to face you, he was working on one of your pancakes, waiting for it to finish cooking.
He smiles, "Yes, well. . . Don't really have an explanation for that, I guess." He shrugs his shoulders, raising his eyebrows as he does which makes you scrunch your nose, light laugh falling from your lips. He goes back to focusing on your pancake, pressing the middle of it before transferring it to a plate with another pancake on it.
"I made you two, is that okay?"
"Perfect," you say with a smile. He nods, happy that you like the pancakes.
"Well," he says with a clap, rubbing his hands together before taking off the apron, "We best get going. We've got to save past Earth from what seems to be a less developed breed of Daleks. Eat, Y/n, we have some time, it might take us a quick minute to get to 1207 AD Earth." He smiled.
"Dear God, I'm not wearing a ridiculous dress." He snickered at your blatant hatred for the style.
"Well, it would be quite hard to fight in." He squeezed your shoulder before walking out to the main controls.
You grab your pancakes, spreading a bit of peanut butter and drizzling syrup over them before sitting down at the table with Amy and Rory. "Alright," you say matter-of-factly, "When does he stop feeling like he needs to make me feel welcome? I love it, he's such a sweetheart, but I don't want to be surprised when he gets comfortable with me and stops doing nice things. When did he stop doing it with you two?"
They shared a look, before Amy answered you. "Y/n, darling, what are you going on about? He never did anything like this for us. Just this morning he was ranting on about he was going to make you your pancakes, and me and Rory were like 'Yum, can't wait.' And The Doctor just looked at us before realizing that he should probably make us some as well. 'You were wanting some too?' He said." She finished with a laugh, but noticed your confused expression as you chewed.
"Y/n, you're not stupid," Rory groaned. "He only lets you call him Eleven-" Rory starts, and Amy intersects.
"The one time we tried, he got very defensive, 'Only Y/n calls me that, what are you doing?'" She puts on a voice for him, imitating his accent.
"Yeah, he never made food before you got here," Rory continues, "He would be up shouting at all hours of the night. Hell, he never comes to our bedrooms to wake us up, never knocks, never brings us nothing, he fuckin' carried you to TARDIS once." Rory was talking about last week, you hadn't slept at all for nearly three days, almost collapsing.
∆∆∆
DISTANT FUTURE, ONE WEEK AGO, PLANET OF SIRIATH
You fought to keep your eyes open as you stumbled, attempting to run, back to the TARDIS. But every step you took hurt you, every inch you ran made you want to collapse and let the Cybermen take you. You ran through the fields, corn stalks towered high above you, hitting you as you run. You can hear the Cybermen behind you, metal clanging as they trample the corn, searching for you and your friends. The Doctor runs beside you, Amy and Rory already on TARDIS.
You hit your foot against a fallen corn stock, your toe slams against your shoe, and you fall, arms shooting out in front of you, bracing for the stings of leaves smacking you. But you just fall into something solid, yet soft. You collapse into it, realizing it's The Doctor, and pass out nearly immediately. You're barely half awake as he picks you up and runs the last hundred feet to the TARDIS, where Amy and Rory hang half out, yelling for him to run faster.
"'Leven," you mumble, hiding your face in his chest, but trying to push him away at the same time, "'Leven put me down so I can run. Have to get away from the Cybermen, 'Leven." He shushed you and absolutely floors it the rest of the way.
As soon as he enters the TARDIS, he takes you to your room, demanding Amy and Rory hit a thingamajig, and pull a spinny whatchamacallit and get them the hell outa dodge. You couldn't decipher the words, you just heard it running all together.
"What's happened? Why- Are you okay?" He sets you down on your bed, kneeling beside you.
"Sleepy, Eleven, so fucking sleepy." You curl up, hands under your head, on your side.
"When's the last time you slept?" You couldn't find the energy to shrug, so you were quiet.
It wasn't until the next morning Amy and Rory told you he stayed in your room, in a chair by the door the entire 27 hours you slept. When he found out you hadn't slept in three days prior to that because of him and the Cybermen, he didn't let you get up for anything for two days, bringing your food and coffee to you to make up for it.
∆∆∆
"He didn't. . . Well then why. . ?" You tried to work out in your head why in the he'll he would do that for you, but the only answer that kept banging around in your head was flashing red and screaming out with a blaring alarm, "HE LIKES YOU!" But he doesn't, he's a damn time lord, Christ Sake. It'll never happen.
Amy rolls her eyes with a playful smile, "By the look on your face, I think you're pretty damn close to figuring it out." She jokes, getting up to leave.
Rory follows, patting your shoulder. "'Don't really have an explanation for that,' please, Y/n. Just kiss him already, I had to help him pick the damn thing out. 'Y'think Y/n will like it?'" You scoff, looking down at your mostly empty plate, reluctantly smiling at the possibility. You're sure at least Rory knows about your little crush, and Amy definitely knows.

1207 AD, SCOTLAND, EARTH
You reach Earth, year 1207, in a mere seven minutes. Thinking back on it, any past (or present, including Amy and Rory) companions you've had the pleasure of meeting have never mentioned how damn long it takes to travel. Once, you had to jump from a small, sandy planet from a galaxy far, far away, with two suns, billions of years in the future, to a huge ice planet in a galaxy halfway across the universe, in the present day. It damn near took twenty minutes of crashing and tumbling around the TARDIS console to get there.
You stumble out of the TARDIS and onto the green fields of a small village in Scotland, calming from absolutely cackling at something Amy said. But you go immediately quiet and stand straight up when you realize somewhere that should have been filled with music and celebration for their leaders, was dead silent. Not an animal sounded, no one person trying to sneak up on you. Only the near silent sound of your friends filing out behind you, realizing the exact same thing.
"Doctor," you whisper, fear present in your voice, "Why is it so quiet?" He hadn't stopped walking until he was just slightly in front of you, arm overlapping yours. His fingertips would brush yours if he tries to reach behind him, and he does. But he grabs yours, squeezing them. Amy and Rory are on the other side of you, and you glance over at them to see if they noticed, yep. Amy is nudging Rory, pointing at you and The Doctor, and when she catches your eyes she raises her eyebrow at you, silently saying I told you, didn't I?
"Unevolved, with no armor — Daleks." He says, seemingly reading his Sonic Screwdriver. He takes a deep breath, "We need to locate them. Their goal will be to find the source of power and take over, AKA find the leaders and use them as vessels." He quickly explains, turning around to face your group, but not letting go of your fingers, instead sliding his hand up to cup your wrist. "After that they'll probably try to take over. . ."
---
You look around in panic, trying to calm down. You're hiding in a dead woman's hut, trying desperately not to breath through your nose, but at the same time hoping the smell masks you. You run your hands up and down your thighs, trying not to cry from the pure panic of being separated from your friends while killer aliens are on the loose and could literally take over a body and pretend they would help before killing you for "getting in the way."
That's exactly what they did to the villagers — took over their leaders minds and  slaughtered everyone who tried to revolt. You choke back a sob as you find the bedrooms, that's right, bedrooms. Plural. There's a child's bedroom, evident by the small wood carvings — bears, ducks, and a little heart. You don't want to look in the room, but something tells you that you must, a voice inside your head, something urging you on. You admire the carvings that litter the room, you turn around, trying to find more about the people who lived he- you let out a scream, stumbling back. You knock your head against a shelf, eyes stinging.
There lay a small girl's decomposing, delicate body. She couldn't have been more than six. You stifle your sobs by holding your hand over your mouth, dropping to your knees. "Oh, God." You quietly sob, wiping your eyes.
CRASH!
The sound of splintered wood fills the hut, and you panic. Your stomach fills with dread — you're trapped. "Eleven, TARDIS, please. Someone — Amy, Rory. Help," You whimper, face falling into your hands.
You hear a shout, and doors knock down, falling with a quiet thump.
More shouts, this time coming from outside the hut. You hear the familiar warbling of the Doctor's screwdriver. You gather yourself, bottom lip still slightly shaking as you rake your hands through your hair. The make-shift door to the child's room falls, and in comes a woman (a child, really) with a large, black squid-looking thing on her back. You back away, pressing your back against the wall. You breath deeply, holding your hands up.
"Please, listen to reason. You don't want to kill me."
"Give me a reason, human." It spat, speaking through the woman. You know she's long gone, her eyes are dead and dull. No life whatsoever.
You sputter, trying to come up with a reason when you see the Doctor silently creep behind the Dalek.
"Because she's my human, and I think your kind may remember what happened the last time you messed with a companion of mine. And they weren't as important as she, so I do suggest you leave her be."
Your eyes go wide, watching as he rants to the Dalek. It shakes the head of the woman, huffing a garbled laugh.
"Fine, I won't kill your precious human." It speaks, turning around to face the Doctor. "I'll kill you, once and for all!" It lunges at the Doctor, and you let out a scared cry. They struggle, falling to the floor. You search for something to help, and your eyes fall on the wood carving next to the bed. You hadn't noticed it before — a wooden knife, sharp despite being wood. You grab it by the hilt, waiting for an opportunity to help the Doctor. They wrestle around, Eleven tries not to hurt the woman, but she was dead before they started fighting. The Dalek grabs hold of the Doctor's hair, ripping him backwards, banging his head against the floor. It leans in and talks in a low voice. "And then after I kill you, I'll kill her too." It laughs, and the Dalek on the woman's back is face up.
You lunge towards it, stabbing at the Dalek. It spurts black, but it didn't make much of an impact. It just stands up, forcing the woman's face into a scowl. "Stupid human. Your Doctor tried to protect you, and you do this. Now you both shall die." The woman's face comforts into an evil grin, advancing. It rips the wooden knife from your hand, forcing you against the wall once more.
The Doctor scrambles up, reacting late, and fumbling with something in his jacket. He pulls something small and round out, still trying to get it to start. You're not sure what it is, but all you can focus on right now is the Dalek, who's getting closer and closer to you. The woman's nose touches your cheek, and you feel no breath hitting your cheek, making you want to sob once again. The woman is a walking zombie, dead, but body being used. The Dalek rakes her fingers down your face, and you feel the partially blunt carving pressing into your right side.
The Doctor runs at the Dalek, screaming something unintelligible to you. You double over, throbbing pain focused in your stomach, something ripping out. Then everything goes fuzzy. Your vision is impaired, only seeing a blur of the Doctor's tweed jacket coming off, and him leaning over you, mumbling something. You blink, trying to keep your eyes open. He grabs your hand, pressing hard on your stomach, and you start coughing, something warm and wet hitting your lips. It's metallic tasting. You keep your hand on your stomach despite the throbbing. You can't hear anything but his voice. It's too loud, even though you can't quite make out what he's saying. Two more people, a blur of red hair and a blur of brown hair. Amy and Rory.
Your hair, wet from sweat, is brushed from your face. You groan, and it burns your throat. This is taking hours, you've been laying here in pain for what feels like forever. You wince as someone's hands slide under you, picking you up quickly. It's Eleven.
"I'm getting blood on your jacket." You whimper, feeling too weak to do anything else. He's running, and you see the blurs of green from trees, and red from fire, and black from smoke all swirling together.
"It's alright, Darling. It's okay." It sounds like he's speaking underwater, voice muffled and barely decipherable.
He's still running, glancing down at you. You hear a boom as you enter a temperature regulated room — TARDIS, you're grateful for her.
---
You wake up in a daze with a pounding headache. The dim light coming from the lamp in the corner of the room — not yours — hurts your eyes. You sit up, hissing in pain when a sharp feeling runs up and down the right side of your body. Tears prick your eyes and you blink them back, taking shallow breaths. Then you realize that you aren't in the same clothes you were in when you arrived in Scotland, in 1207 AD. That they aren't even yours. It's a plain, a too big t-shirt that fell to your mid thighs. You squint your eyes to look at the bedside table — a carved heart. You inhale sharply, it all comes rushing back to you.
The Daleks. Eleven saving you. Stabbing the Dalek. Getting stabbed. Eleven saving you again. Waking up here.
My human.
Because she's my human.
You squeeze your eyes shut, calling out to TARDIS. "TARDIS, honey, where's Eleven?" Your voice is raspy.
She whirs in response, you're sure the Doctor understood it and is coming running. You can't help but wonder whose room this is. You've never seen it, and it doesn't look very lived in, but it sure is cozy. It's comforting, familiar for some reason.
The door bursts' open, hitting the wall. You wince, turning away from the light that shines through it. "Ow," you groan, drawing out the word.
"Y/n," the Doctor shuts the door quietly. He takes a deep breath before turning back around. He's been crying, you think, his eyes are puffy, and red. It's a reasonable assumption.
"Eleven," you groan as you stand up. You're wearing shorts now and you hope that it was Amy that got you dressed, it would kill you if it had been Rory or the Doctor.
"Eleven what's wrong?" You wrap your arms around his middle, laying your head against his chest. He rests his head against yours, hand coming up to cup the back of your head, the other hovering over your back.
"You- you almost died. Y/n, you can't do that." He sounds angry, but he's so calm and it's kind of freaking you out.
"But I'm alive. I didn't die, and I was helping you. So it doesn't matter." You shake your head slightly, shrugging, but grimace when it pulls at your side.
"Are you hurting? Lie down, God, what's wrong with you humans? Always risking your life. Bunch of martyrs, you lot." He mumbles to himself after telling you to lie down. He leads you to the bed, pulling back the blankets for you. You comply, but scoot over. You pat the bed next to you, and look at him with pleading eyes. He huffs, but smiles nonetheless as he sits next to you, back against the headboard.
"Whose bedroom is this?" You wonder aloud, scooting over to lay your head on his shoulder.
"Mine." Your eyes go wide, and you hope he can't feel your face heat up.
"Oh."
"You just," he stumbles over his words, looking at you. "You shouldn't have done that. Why would you do that? You could have gotten yourself killed! Then what would I have done?? I would have lost the only woman I- I would have lost my best friend. You're my best friend. Why would you endanger yourself like that? Y/n, you've been in a comatose state for nearly two weeks." He rants, angry again. He moves away from you to face you now. His eyes well up with tears, and he can't help but run his fingers lightly over your cheek, trailing down to the collar of your shirt. "You look beautiful in my shirt." Your face burns as his fingers brush over your collarbone.
"I'm absolutely furious at you, still." He laughs, but it turns into a choked sob. He's just relieved that you're okay. "God," he closes his eyes, and lets his forehead fall into the crook of your neck. "Y/n, why would you do that?"
Because I love you. Because I couldn't let a Dalek, of all things, kill you. Because I love you. Because I couldn't live with myself if I ran. Because I love you.
"You're my best friend." The Doctor huffed a hurt laugh, blinking against your neck.
"You forget I have the ability to look in your mind — to know what it is you're thinking." He says sadly, pulling you to him. You're knees are interlocking, one between his legs and the other on the outside.
Fuck off. Don't fucking mock me.
He shook his head, "You were reckless." He changes the subject with a sad look to the side. His hands drop from your face, and he stands up, clearing his throat. "You- You won't do that again. Next time we go anywhere like that you- you will- Uhm, you'll stay with TARDIS." He nodded, fixing his bow tie, shoving his hands in his pockets. He leaves the room, leaving you a distraught, hurting mess.
You run your hand over your face, sobbing silently. "God," you sigh, "What the hell just happened?" You wipe the tears from your cheeks, taking a deep breath.
Just, please, if you hear me. Please listen. Come back, please come back. Please, please, please. Jesus, I need you to come back, Eleven. Please, Doctor, come back.
I love you. I love you so much, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for being stubborn, I'm sorry for risking my life. Please come back, Eleven. Would you please come back?
You silently beg for him to come back, to come back so you can make things right. You talk to him, in your head, until your head hurts. Until you've cried so much —begging him to come back, to talk to you, to kiss you — that your eyes hurt, until they've got bags under them that will last for days, until the corners of your eyes are rubbed raw from wiping them. Your heart aches for him, all you want to do is apologize, apologize for being reckless, for being so harsh on him, apologize for not telling him earlier.
Please, Doctor. Come back to me.
You roll over, facing the table. The throbbing pain on your right side had now slowed to a dull ache, the pain in your heart too much of a distraction. Your eyes fall to focus on the carved, wooden heart on the bedside table. You reach out and grab it, it doesn't look like the one from the hut. It's smoother, sanded down. You run your fingers over it, and find notches in the back. You turn it over in your hands, eyes widening when you read what it says. It's in his scraggly, loopy, endearingly him handwriting.
For my best friend, Y/n. Don't ever endanger yourself like that again. It would simply be too much for me to bear if I were to lose you.
♡ Eleven
Your heart stops. It weighs down on your chest like a rock, it's become a lead weight in your chest. Eleven what just happened? What does the heart mean? Why would you sign it like that?
You clutch the heart in your hands, laying down to finally sleep. You snuggle into his blankets, pressing you nose into his pillows. You know why it was familiar. It's him. It smells like him. Doctor, I love you so much.
---
You wake up to the door creaking open. Odd. Normally the Doctor comes bounding into your room, yelling for you. Or he carries you out to the consol, still half asleep, dropping you on one of the empty spots until you insist on brushing your teeth and changing out of shorts.
You squint, rolling over to see Any standing in the doorway, but the Doctor is already here — sleeping, curled up, in the arm chair across from the bed. You still have the heart in your hand, half of the words imprinted on your palm, along with the heart, and his name next to it. You look up at Amy, and she ushers you of the room. You walk as quick ad possible put of the room, and Amy shuts the door behind you.
"What the hell happened between the two of you? He's been shut up in his library since he left, and TARDIS wouldn't let us in." She questions, a concerned look in her eyes.
"I just-" you sigh, "It's a long story." You drop your head, looking at your bare toes, as if they're the most interesting things in the world — half painted, you remember when you showed the Doctor, and he just about lost it.
∆∆∆
TWO WEEKS AGO, TARDIS
You half-skip out into the main control, careful not to smudge the rich, dark green paint of your toes. "Doctor!" He turns around, hands still on the controls.
You stick your foot out, wiggling your toes. "Isn't it a pretty color?" You smile, you just bought the color two days ago, on a trip to Greece. You'd been wanting to go there, and the Doctor finally complied.
"Dear God! What is that on your foot?" He scrambled for his screwdriver while you stood there, an amused look on your face. It sounded a flat noise, and the Doctor hit it against his palm a few times.
"It's just nail polish, it's not an alien. I thought you were, like, thousands of years old." You say with a laugh, a slight smirk evident on your face.
"At this point, I've completely lost track." He physically relaxes, inspecting the color further. "I think it suits you wonderfully, though I do believe that's true for any color. Which, by the way, I can see twelve more of." He reminds you smugly, a posh smile on his face. You've had this conversation (about him seeing exactly twelve more colors than you) many, many times.
You just snort, rolling your eyes playfully with a smile on your face.

PRESENT DAY, TARDIS
"Well we've got all the time in the world, now don't we?" She questions, eyebrows raised. A crash comes from inside the room, and you both look at the door, where a disheveled Doctor stands, hair sticking out in all directions.
"I woke up and you were gone." He has his hand on his chest, relieved. "I thought you left." His eyes are wide and slightly bloodshot, like after crying, or when you don't sleep for nearly a week, though of course that's different for him.
"Why would I leave?" You ask bluntly, not letting him hone in on what you're truly feeling — sadness and regret. Regret for not telling him earlier, for pushing him away.
"I-" He stutters wordless noise out, and Amy looks between the two of you.
"I'm going to leave you to whatever it is you're doing." She backs up before rounding a corner, after that you hear her feet pounding against the floor as she sprints off, yelling for Rory.
"I didn't know if you still wanted to be here or not." He admits, looking sheepishly at the floor.
"Again, why wouldn't I want to be here?" It's a stiff interaction, awkwardness clings to the tension between you and your Doctor.
He doesn't say anything, but you understand almost immediately. His companions have left of their own free will before, they got bored. They didn't want the excitement. They wanted a family.
"Doctor, I wouldn't leave you just because of an argument. Not even if you forbade me from leaving TARDIS," you raised your eyebrows, letting little emotion seep into your voice. You know that if you were to, then you would end up crying again. And you're already dehydrated and emotionally exhausted.
"Promise?" He avoids looking at you, instead opting for anything in your immediate vicinity.
"Of course." You should know I would never leave you, and you know why. You think sadly, for once wanting him to read your thoughts, and you look at the floor.
"Okay, right," he says, nodding. He goes to leave, but hesitates, turning back to you. He opens his mouth as if to say something, hand half reaching out to you. "I- Y/n, can I please talk to you?"
"Is that not what you're doing?" Tears fill your eyes and blur your vision, face warm and now wet with tears that keep coming.
"Y/n that's not what I meant, please?" He opens his door, hand outstretched and reaching for you.
You don't take his hand, but you do walk into his room, arms wrapped around you as you look at the ground. He walks in behind you, shutting the door. You didn't notice, you were too busy looking a the ground, but his face dropped when you rejected his hand, and it terrified him even more. But you don't notice any of that, you're focused on avoiding him for as long as possible.
"Y/n, please, look at me." He walks over to you quickly, cupping your cheek in his hand, thumb running over your jaw. He tilts your head up to look at him. "Listen-"
"Don't let me down easy, alright? Tell me you don't feel that way about me and I'll leave. Just don't act like you pity me. Send me away, please. Just don't act like you pity me. Like you don't want to hurt me, because if you do hurt me it'll be that much easier to make myself leave." You don't look at him, but his hand still cups your jaw even as you turn your head.
"What are you talking about? I love you," he says in a quiet voice, and your lips part in shock.
What?
"I love you, Y/n." His hands hold the back of your neck, using his thumbs to make you look at him. "I love you." He stares at you with this intense adoration, like you're the only thing that matters in the universe. In any universe.
"You love me?" You ask in disbelief. You know it isn't logical, but what if he's only saying that as a friendly type of love? What if he's lying, just to get you to stay? God, you love this Doctor so much, but he could be twisted sometimes. He truly just does not want to be left all alone.
"I've always loved you, with both of my hearts." You roll your eyes, fighting back the tears that well up and threaten to spill over.
"I love you too, Eleven." Your hands wind up in his adorable, drive-you-crazy tweed coat, and you pull him down to you, capturing his lips with yours. He smiles into the kiss, hands moving up to tangle in your hair. You stand on your toes, wrapping your arms around his neck as his lips move hastily against yours. It isn't one like in the movies — perfect and timed and coordinated. This is one of need, of love, of desperation. It's perfectly imperfect as you pull him closer to you, breaking the kiss.
He's holding you to him, squeezing you as close as possible, hands still in your hair and eyes still closed.
Your forehead is pressed against his, breathing heavy as you hold him tight. You don't want to let go, but you're both hot and emotional.
It's perfect in the most imperfect of ways.

Mysterious Boyfriend - Tenth Doctor X Female Reader
Tumblr media
Title: Mysterious Boyfriend
Tenth Doctor X Female Reader
Additional Characters: Sarah OC, Lucas OC, and Jaime OC
WC: 2,768
Warnings: Reader is drunk, alcohol, mentions of throwing up (no throwing up happens), teasing, cursing, nicknames, and fluff
You let out an infectious laugh as you walked back over to the table with your friends, setting down another round of drinks and food. Sitting down on the leather bench, you let out another giggle, your head feeling light and fluffy. Reaching out, you tried to grab your vodka cherry, but your best friend quickly pulled it from your reach, making you pout. Your friend, Sarah, gave you a look, gesturing to you with an extra hand.
"Nuh, uh, sweetheart." She spoke over the loud, bumping music, "You're already super drunk, don't want you throwing up anytime soon."
"No fair," You muttered, stuffing your mouth with the greasy bowl of fries in front of you, "I am not that drunk."
Your second friend in attendance, Lucas, only rolled his eyes, giving you the same look Sarah had given you, "You are drunk. You had like... Four shots."
You threw your hands up in the air, "What!? I want to have fun tonight! I haven't been out to a bar in ages!" You exclaimed, waving your arms around for emphasis.
Jaime smirked at your response, resting her chin on her hand that was propped up against the table, "Yeah, you've been so busy traveling with that mysterious boyfriend of yours." She teased, winking at you before taking a sip of her beer.
Lucas only shook his head, mimicking Jaime's position; resting his chin on his open palm, "Yeah, that's right... When are we going to meet this mystery man of yours?"
You sputtered out a nervous laugh, brushing your hair out of the way, "I don't know guys..." You trailed off, shaking your head, "What have you three been up to anyway?" You tried to change the topic, but your friends weren’t having it.
Sarah quickly let out a full-blown cackle, her head falling back before she shook her head at you, "Oh, hell no! You have to tell us about him! It's been what? A year that you've been together?"
You nodded, taking a few bites of your burger before responding, "Yeah… A little bit over a year." You sighed out.
Lucas frowned at your expression, as did your other two friends, "Why don't you talk about him ever? I mean, I think I say this for everyone but you don't have to tell us anything that you're not comfortable with... We are just curious-"
"Super curious, mind you," Sarah interrupted.
Lucas stole a fry from Sarah's bowl in retaliation before continuing, "A lot of people are... Uh, secretive? Is that the right word? About their relationships. So, we totally understand if you don't want to tell us everything."
You chewed thoughtfully, sobering up a bit at his words, "Thank you, for the consideration. It's not that I don't want to tell you guys anything..." You let out a small chuckle, shrugging a shoulder, "I guess I'm still in that 'I can't believe this is real' stage..."
Jaime sighed dreamily at your words, "He must be amazing then."
You nodded, smiling at the thought of him, "Yeah, he is."
"Well, what's his name anyway?" Sarah asked, taking a sip of her coke, "So we don't have to call him the 'mysterious boyfriend.'"
You worried on your bottom lip momentarily, quickly thinking, "Uh, his- his name is John... John Smith." You answered, remembering the fake name that he used when needed in your - sometimes rather dangerous - adventures.
Sarah, Lucas, and Jaime all looked at you with such curiosity and excitement, Sarah slapped the palms of her hands on the table, "What does he do? He's got to have a lot of money to be able to take you overseas and everything." She asked so enthusiastically, that she shifted in her seat, unable to sit still. “I mean, you’re always somewhere!”
You laughed quietly, "Yeah, he's a doctor."
"A doctor!" Jaime exclaimed excitedly, leaning forward, "Really? What kind of doctor!?"
"Doctor of medicine." You smiled lightly at their reactions, though, on the inside you were panicking slightly, "His specialty is medical regeneration." You told them, holding back the cheeky grin at your little joke to yourself.
Their reactions were almost instantaneous, "Where has he taken you? France? Italy?" Lucas then asked, eating more of his fries and taking a sip of his own drink, "I bet he's a romantic, taking you to all the wonders of the world." He muttered thoughtfully.
‘Through the universe and time, more like it.’ You thought as you nodded, grabbing a fry, "He says he hates that romance stuff, but he really is a pretty romantic guy… And he's taken me practically everywhere. In fact..," You trailed off, gesturing to the necklace around your neck, "I got this on one of our trips recently. In France. He gave it to me. But that was after he took me to see a concert that I was dying to see."
The necklace in question was a gift from the Doctor when he had taken you back to 1950 France, giving you the Dior necklace only a couple of years after the jewelry company was invented. And that was right after traveling to 1970 England to see Queen live for their first performance at Truro City Hall. Which was amazing, as you fully expected.
Jaime dreamily sighed again, her eyes drooping slightly as she mentally daydreamed, "I wish I had a cute partner that would give me things..." She trailed off before her eyes widened and she stared at you, "He is cute, right?" She asked, and you scoffed, waving a hand at her as if her question was ridiculous... Which it was.
You shook your head, a bright smile appearing on your lips, "Oh, don't get me started! He's gorgeous! Dark brown hair, always sticking out at odd angles no matter how many times he tries to fix it. Dark brown eyes that I can't help but fall into every time I see or look at him..." Your voice rose into the falsetto pitch, your cheeks growing warm as you spoke. "And those dimples... Oh, gosh, and that smile..." You said, covering your burning cheeks with your hands, groaning softly, "His smile makes my heart stop..."
"He sounds wonderful, and handsome..." Lucus spoke, laughing lightly as you gushed over your man. "But, uh, he does treat you right, right?" He asked and you sputtered out another laugh, tossing a fry into your mouth.
"Is that even a question? He's perfect! Such a gentleman... Always opening doors for me... He's funny, always making me laugh. He's so smug, but in a cute way, and he's playful." You paused for a moment before letting out a small chuckle, remembering the time he took you to a planet that was covered in a purple substance that was very similar to snow. You had both just played in that snow, making purple snowmen, and starting purple snowball fights which ended up with the both of you holding hands as you lay on the cold ground, laughing softly up at the pink sky. Your memories seemed to play in your mind like a slideshow, making your bright smile soften into one of admiration, "He can be serious too. And so protective. Always putting my safety first..." You whispered, staring off into space as you reminisced. “And he listens to me, gives me advice…”
"That's nice." Sarah spoke, placing a soft hand on your arm and giving it a squeeze, "He does sound wonderful. You must really love him."
"Love him?" Jaime spoke up with a small laugh, gesturing to you, "She's head over heels, whipped, smitten!" She spoke, pointing her finger at you mockingly, and you stuck your tongue out at her.
Finishing the rest of your fries, you glanced back up at your friends, "Who knows, you might be lucky enough to meet him tonight. He's picking me up in an hour." You shrugged, standing up from your booth, "And so before I have to go... Let's dance!"
For the next handful of minutes, you danced with your three friends, jumping up and down to the music that played loudly over the sound speakers! You let yourself get lost in the music, feeling as if all your problems and the world around you seemed to disappear into the background as you danced with your friends in the middle of the dancefloor. It was nice to just hang out with your friends. It had been over three months since you had seen them, and you had missed them dearly. It was nice to take a break from traveling, especially if it meant having your old group of friends there with you.
As the night began to wind down, you leaned against Jaime, arms looped with hers as you walked out of the bar with Lucas and Sarah. You let out another laugh, still feeling a bit drunk, having snuck one more drink and a glass of water. You were mumbling a song that had been playing at the bar, almost stumbling over your own two feet.
"Dude, we should not have let her have that watermelon Jack Daniels," Jaime laughed, pulling you closer to her, "She's probably gonna end up being super ew tomorrow." She teased, poking you lightly in the side, making you burst out in giggles once more.
Lucas shook his head at the both of you, "Yeah, she's gonna have one killer headache in the morning. That’s for sure." He laughed along as you continued to giggle. “I mean, can’t blame her, I might have one too.”
Sarah hummed, fiddling with the keys in her hands, being the driver since she only had one beer over an hour ago. "Where is this handsome, doctor boyfriend of yours, anyway, sugar?" She asked, looking around them, the city lights illuminating the street and sidewalk enough for everyone to easily see.
Leaning your cheek on Jaime's shoulder, you grabbed your phone from your pocket, flipping it open. "He should be here soon." And right before any of your friends could say anything more, your eyes widened with such joy when you noticed the Doctor walking down the sidewalk towards you; looking as handsome as ever in his usual attire. "Hey, honey!" You waved excitedly at him.
Your friends turned their heads, Jaime's jaw dropping at the sight of the Doctor making his way over. You shimmied out of her arms before falling into the Doctor's arms instead, wrapping your arms tightly around his thin, but strong, body. "Hello there, love." His arms automatically wrapped securely around your waist, instantly taking note of how intoxicated you were.
Suddenly, you pulled back, tugging on his arm, and pulling him over to your awaiting friends, "Guys! This is my boyfriend!" You giggled, leaning against the Doctor's side as you looked up at him with such adoration in your eyes.
Sarah immediately offered her hand, "It is so nice to finally meet you!" She said as he shook the Doctor's hand, who gave her a pleasant but slightly awkward smile.
Lucas was next, shaking the Doctor's hand with a grin, "Nice to meet you, man. She wouldn't stop talking about you once we got her going. Impressive profession, I must say, my mother's a doctor as well."
Immediately after shaking Lucas's hand, Jaime introduced herself, "Break her heart, I will crush your soul," She lightly threatened, smiling innocently as the Doctor let out a small chuckle.
"It's a pleasure to meet you all-" His sentence was interrupted slightly when Jaime gasped, tugging on Sarah's arm with wide eyes.
"He's British!" She whisper-yelled, making you laugh again, "You never told us he had an accent!"
You nuzzled your cheek into the Doctor's arm as he stuffed his hands into his pants pockets, "English accent, but yeah. I guess I forgot to mention that..." Doctor just stood back and watched everything happen, a small grin on his face as he watched you and your friends interact.
"You're killing us, Y/N/N," Lucas said, raising a hand to his heart, "You better give us all the tea next time we hang out." He pointed at you before gesturing back to the car a few steps away, "Well, we'll let you go. I got to work in the morning. It was nice meeting you, Doc." He spoke, saluting you both before looping his arm with Jaime's.
"Yeah, meeting you was awesome!" Sarah spoke, waving to the both of you as she walked backward to her car, "See you soon, girl! Call me!"
You waved back to your friends, "See you guys! Love you!"
As they got in the car, you watched with the Doctor as they drove away. Once they were pretty far down the road, you turned and looked up at the Doctor, "Hi..." You greeted him softly, a smile bright on your face as he leaned down to your height, giving you a kiss to the middle of your forehead.
"Hello, darling. Are you ready to go home?" The Doctor smiled, grabbing your hand in his as he led down the sidewalk towards where he parked the TARDIS.
"Yup!" You chimed happily, "Home sweet home." You let out another laugh, squeezing his hand as you walked up to the TARDIS door.
When the Doctor opened the door for you, he stepped inside, helping you slip your shoes off, and then helped you slip out of your jacket, tossing it to hang over a railing. Turning back to you, he paused to watch you spin around the TARDIS's console, humming some other song. A small, fond smile graced his lips, watching as you danced around, a happy look on your face. You looked beautiful - in every sense of the word; your hair flowing around you as you moved around the console in your party attire; the lights of the TARDIS making you look angelic.
You spun, landing perfectly in front of him, looking up at him with shining shimmering eyes. You were quick to wrap your arms around his neck, your head resting against his chest as he held your waist gently. "Did you have fun with your friends tonight?" He asked softly, swaying you both side to side.
"Yeah..." You looked up at him, resting your chin on his chest, "I missed you though..." You murmured softly, letting out a long sigh as you relaxed in his strong embrace, "You should hang out with us next time." You stated, pouting cutely up at him before your expression immediately changed, your eyes brightening as a thought popped into your head, "Oh! We should have ice cream!"
"I would love to join you next time, love," He spoke, lifting his hand from your waist to run it through your hair, brushing strands from your face and behind your ears, "But, right now... We should get you to bed." He spoke, kissing the top of your head before guiding you out of the console room.
"Alright." You agreed, yawning, your hand reaching up to hold onto his.
The two of you made your way up the stairs, and then down the hall. The Doctor quietly opened the bedroom door, leading you inside. You dropped onto the bed, falling back, your head and hitting the pillow; you quickly ranted on and on about all the different ice cream flavors you knew during the next couple of minutes the Doctor helped you change into your pajamas - which was a pair of sweats and one of his many button-ups. You were out like a light right after, which amused the two-hearted man as he grabbed you a glass of water and ibuprofen for your head in the morning. Heading back into the control room, he started up the TARDIS to float around somewhere safe in the galaxy before heading back to you.
Dressed in his own pajamas, the Doctor slipped into bed, smiling as you subconsciously wrapped your arms around his stomach, your leg tangling with his own as your head nuzzled into his chest. “Love you.” You muttered out sleepily, making the Doctor smile.
Wrapping his own arms around you, he pressed a lingering kiss to the top of your head before nuzzling his cheek into your hair, “Love you too…” He replied before staring up at the ceiling; his hand trailing up and down your back. The warmth of your body seeped through his shirt as he held you close, listening to your even breathing. It was moments like these that he felt lucky to have found you. And for the rest of the night, he simply lay there, holding you, until his eyelids became heavy and he fell asleep.

Sonic Duties
tenth doctor x fem!reader
Summary: the doctor teaches his companion how to use his sonic screwdriver.
just some short fluff tbh :') and maybe a little...suggestive? ;)
Tumblr media
If the Doctor wasn't piloting the TARDIS, he was working on her. And if Rose was being honest, she didn't believe that the Doctor had the slightest clue of what he was doing. Sometimes her and y/n even doubted that the ship needed repairing, the Doctor just coming up with that excuse to kill off his boredom when the girls' asked for a relaxed day.
Today was no different. Rose decided she wanted to pop back home for a short visit to see her mum. Y/n tagged along to say a quick 'hi' to Jackie, but a quick greeting involving the eldest Tyler would last at least an hour, so, the Doctor did what he always did. He got to work.
As predicted, an hour had passed before his companion rejoined him. He failed to hear the door opening as he was positioned under the ground railings, on his back with his sonic working away.
"Whatcha doing?" Y/n asked, evidently scaring the man as he jumped, dropping his screwdriver and making it fall on to his head as he groaned. Y/n held a hand to her mouth, trying her best to contain her giggles as the TimeLord hopped out from under the grating, rubbing his head with narrowed eyes.
"Don't do that! I may have two hearts but I'm just as good as dead if one of them stops!" He exclaimed.
Her giggles became louder and she pushed his hand away from his forehead, dragging him down gently by the neck as she placed a gentle kiss to the non existent bump. "You big baby."
"It hurt!" The Doc defended before rolling his eyes as a smile took over his face. He grabbed Y/n's hand, dragging her towards the wires his was fixing. "I'm just sorting out the wiring so that the radar gets more accurate reads. Wanna try?" He asked, holding his sonic out to her.
"Me?" Y/n pointed at herself, an unsure expression taking over.
"No, her behind you." Completely oblivious, Y/n looked around the room, finding it unoccupied baring the two. The Doctor smiled fondly. "Yes, you."
Bouncing on the balls of her feet, she raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?" This earned a chuckle as he nodded his head. "Course I'm sure. I trust you. C'mon." He lead her by the hand to under the floor, revealing multicoloured wires exporting short sparks.
"Okay, so, psychic link." He said, pressing the sonic into her hand, allowing their fingers to breeze past each others as a slight shock ran through his veins. "Point and think!"
"Okay!" Y/n smiled, glowing with confidence as her head disappeared under the floor, leaving the man standing tall on the ground, unable to see his companion from the small holes in the grating. A few seconds later her head popped back up, all previous confidence having disappeared. "Doctor.."
"Mm?"
"...What do I think?"
His smile falters a little and he rushes to get her back on her feet. "Actually, let's try it on something easier first." Y/n moans but complies, rolling her eyes when the Doctor rambles on about 'one wrong move ripping the fabric of space and time' or something along those lines. He interwines their fingers, pulling her forward towards the console.
"Aha!" Y/n looks up, watching as he fiddles with the monitor, pressing some buttons on the side of it. "Okay! Beginners practice! Just turn the monitor on. Easy Peasy - before you know it, you'll be a pro!"
"Do you reckon?" She smiles widely while the Doctor squeezes her hand.
"Course I do!" He nudges her with his elbow. "Right, just press this button," he steps behind her, her back pressing into his chest as he guides her finger to press on the button, smirking slightly as her breath hitches. "Point," He lifts her arm up, facing the switched off monitor. "And think." he whispers into her ear, sending shivers down her spine. Y/n curses internally, very thankful he was teaching her the ways of his screwdriver and not the psychic paper.
The blue light reflects on the blackness of the screen. For a few seconds, nothing happens. Just as she was about to give up, noise starts coming from the monitor. Shortly after it was accompanied by a video of her favourite film.
She jumps up in triumph, joining the doctor in his laughter as he wraps an arm around her, pressing her into him as he shakes her left and right.
"I did it!"
The Doctor offers her a cheeky wink, scrunching his nose proudly as a blood runs and taints her cheeks. "Never doubted you!"

𝐊𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐩𝐢𝐝
↳ summary: in which the doctor is feeling a bit mischievous
↳ warnings: none
↳ song: anything you want—jawny
masterlist!
You had been hoping to enjoy a night to yourself for once. No immediate threat of an alien or monster looming over your shoulder—just you, a ridiculously comfortable couch, a plate of biscuits, and the most recent book you had found yourself swept up in.
Everything had been going brilliant until the Doctor walked in.
The feeling of being watched made you look over the cover of your novel, only to be met with a tall figure leaning against one of the T.A.R.D.I.S's many doorframes with a crooked smile.
"Hey. What's up?" You smiled, watching as the Doctors eyes sparkled with something you couldn't decypher. His grin widened at your greeting, eyes crinkling at the corners happily as he approached you.
"Oh nothing." He dragged out the sentence, stopping where he was to rest his face in the palms of his hands while he watched you. Your brows furrowed at his strange behavior, but you ultimately shrugged and went back to your book. It wasn't a normal day on the T.A.R.D.I.S without the Doctor acting strange after all.
You were only able to get a few more sentences deeper into the adventure on the page before it was snatched straight from you, leaving you staring dumbfounded at empty space.
"Hey!" You frowned and looked up, watching as the Doctor examined your book above you from head to toe with a playful smile. "Give it back!"
He hummed and pretended to think about it for a minute, tapping his forefinger on his cheek before smiling. You almost found yourself smiling with him before remembering you were supposed to be mad.
"Only if you give me a kiss." The Doctor said, glancing at you innocently while dangling the book above your head in a tantalizing motion.
You could feel your neck heat up as his words made a home in your brain, an embarassing amount of blood rushing to your face.
"Really? Is that what this was about?" You sputtered, hoping the lighting was low enough so the Doctor couldn't see your face. "Jeez, you're like a cat. Causing mayhem when you want attention."
"But you love me!" He beamed, dipping down to get closer to your position on the couch. "And you're avoiding my offer, you know."
Glaring half heartedly, you took one more look at the hardback clutched in his hands before giving up with a sigh.
You went to say something else to him before being abruptly shut up by the feeling of warm lips of your own.
The suprise that had come with the kiss quickly melted into something softer as you began to mirror it. The feeling of being kissed by the Doctor was something that you had experienced before, but every time was like the first all over again; each movement filled with the softest type of love only he had been able to give you.
He breathed his very essence into you in a way, allowing himself to be vulnerable like nothing before. And in turn, you were always there to welcome him with open arms, never swaying or faltering.
Smells of cinnamon and pine filled your senses as he began to pull away, and a soft hum sounded in front of you.
When you opened your eyes, he was looking at you with a mixture of adoration and smugness, watching as you attempted to even out your breathing in vain.
A beat of silence passed between the two of you as he held out the book for you to take again. You stared at it cautiously for a moment before taking it and sliding it aside, reaching up to pull the Doctor down on the seat next to you
"I thought you wanted your book back?" He said with a knowing smile, hair a bit ruffled from the kiss. You just shot a glare at him as he laughed.
"It wasn't a good read anyways." You grummbled before going in for another kiss, successfully muting whatever smug comment he had been about to make.

Hear My Words
Doctor Who : Fic
Tenth Doctor x Reader
Word Count: 2352
Warnings: I’ve had to rewatch Doctor Who to get back into writing for the characters and... of course I’m swooning left and right. I need to watch everything David Tennant now 🤦‍♀️
Request: “Hi! I wanted to request a fluff hurt/comfort John smith/10th doctor? Like the reader has a crush on the doctor, and during the events of Human Nature, they get really sad seeing John fall in love with Joan, but when he’s the doctor again, he tells the reader it’s always been them? Thank you and hope you’re doing good!” Anon
A/N: Using the chameleon arch meant putting you in charge of John Smith, but it also meant the Doctor was free to fall in love much to your dismay
Tumblr media
The tardis was quaking beneath their feet, parts exploding in showers of sparks. Fireworks of brilliant gold and fiery orange cascading until burning out against the grated floor. The erratic flying sent the Doctor and (Y/N) tumbling against the railing.
“Did they see your face?” the Doctor yelled over the steaming console.
“No, I don’t think so,” (Y/N) said frantically, “Doctor, what are we going to do?”
He paused his searching to look at her. Between the smoke and the sparks, she looked frightened – really properly scared. And it broke his hearts. He wanted to take her by the hand and whisper sweet words of endearment and comfort. He wanted to let her know that he wouldn’t let anything happen to her.
His fingers itched to reach for her. His legs begged to run for her. His hearts pleaded to embrace her.
But he couldn’t. Not when he’d played the façade so well.
She had no idea that he was completely smitten by her.
“We’re going to have to disappear,” he finally breathed. Yes – disappear. If he could conceal them from the hunting party then no harm would befall her.
“Alright,” she said shakily, though relief painted her tone. There was always relief when the Doctor had a plan. “How are we going to do that?”
His hands clenched, “I’ve got to stop being a Time Lord.” His eyes flickered up and down her frame before pouncing to the console. He frantically continued his search for an object.
“I’m sorry, what?” (Y/N) cried, “How is that possible?” Her heart was in her throat, “Doctor, you’re frightening me.”
He clutched at a silver fob watch, running for her. “I’m going to rewrite my biology. Can’t do the same to you, I’m afraid. You’ll have to improvise.” He tossed the watch into the air, catching it to gain her attention. “Rewriting means my memories too. You’ll have to be in charge.”
“I don’t understand.”
He cursed himself – urged himself to speak slower. “I have to completely conceal myself. To do that I’ll have to become something else. I’ll have to become human. And I’ll need you to look after me.”
His arms felt warm and heavy as he kept them from holding her. In times of panic, when the adrenaline was high, it was always harder to keep his wants under control.
“I don’t…”
“I need you to take care, (Y/N). Can you ensure that I don’t open this watch until the most dire of circumstances? Can you make sure that I believe myself human until we can escape?”
Her eyes were beginning to water at the sight of his begging.
“Doctor…” she breathed, “I…”
~~~
John shot up in bed, gripping his blankets and chasing the last images of the dream. Of the angelic look on the girl’s face.
He rubbed at his eyes, “Gracious…” he sighed. “I’m getting that one more often than I like.” Of the catalogue of dreams that plagued him at night, the one about the kitchen maid became more and more frequent.
And it always left him with a race in his chest.
He would spend the morning teaching his classes and reading his books and seeking a glance of Nurse Redfern. But by the end of the day he sought a glimpse of the kitchen maid, (Y/N). He yearned for a bit of conversation with her – a much needed reprieve on his ever consumed mind.
His head always felt stuffed, as if a dense volume of water filled his cranium to the brim until the pressure was too much. It somehow felt lighter after an evening with Miss. (Y/N).
He found his wandering footsteps descending the stairs to the kitchens, running into a few flustered maids.
“Sorry, sir.”
“Pardon me, sir – are you lost?”
He’d wave them off, “No, I assure you I know where I’m going. Good evening.” The stone corridors became second nature as he found the staff room beside the bustling kitchen preparing dinner.
“Ah, excuse me,” he’d gesture to a lady’s maid, “Where might I find… oh, there she is, never mind.” And the sight of (Y/N) made his heart tug in a way that felt overwhelming, as if it tried to consume his entire chest.
“Sir,” she muttered, sounding surprised even if her eyes spoke otherwise. John always found his way downstairs at the end of the day, “Do you wish to have your dinner in your quarters? I could bring it up personally.”
“Lovely idea,” he said, “But I would rather enjoy a meal here with you, if you were agreeable.”
She urged the warmth from her cheeks, “That’s rather improper, sir.”
He shrugged, “I’ve found my quarters rather suffocating as of late.”
“Very well, sir,” she curtseyed, “You can find yourself comfortable in the staffing quarters and I’ll be there momentarily with supper.”
(Y/N) scurried to the kitchens with a squirming stomach, always worried that the reason John sought her out was because he finally remembered who he was – that he was becoming himself again. But as always he just took comfort in her familiarity.
There was something about her, he would say, that would put him at ease. As if they were companions in another life.
But she knew their coming conversation would be of dreams and fantastical stories and the possible future with other staff members. Inevitably they would dwell on the topic of Nurse Redfern.
And it would hurt her to encourage him to speak with the nurse, to befriend her and see what would grow.
“Here you are, sir,” she said, placing a delectable dish in front of him. She personally chose his favorites from the serving platters about to be sent up. “Will there be anything else?”
He snapped his head towards her, “Surely you’ll stay. Please, sit beside me.”
She held back a retort, already hearing the gossip jumping between her coworkers. “If it please you, sir.”
“It always has, (Y/N). I want to speak with you about an interesting dream I had last night.”
She nodded, retrieving her meager servants stew and sitting beside him. “I figured as much.”
“What do you mean?” He was amused.
“Just that you normally come knocking when you’ve had a funny dream or some peculiar thought.”
“Well, you’re right.” He forked around his supper, “I dreamt that we were on another one of those adventures.”
(Y/N) kept her eyes down, pondering her stew. She wondered what memory was forcing its way to the surface of his mind.
“You were so terribly frightened about something chasing us,” he chuckled, “And I told you I had to become a human to hide us.”
She stilled for all but a moment, containing the inflection in her voice, “I hadn’t realized you weren’t human in these adventures.”
“Neither had I,” he laughed, eyeing her simple supper. “Would you care for a bit of mine?” He gestured to the seasoned chicken and roasted vegetables and rich sauce.
(Y/N) couldn’t help but chortle, “Sir, there are rules between kitchen maids and professors.”
“Rules about a bit of chicken?”
She gave him a look, “Are you like this with any of the other staff? Do you blur the lines with them too?”
He cleared his throat, using a teacup saucer to give her a portion of his meal, “You cooked it, you should be able to eat it too.”
“Thank you,” she said softly, “But that didn’t answer my question.”
John swallowed a mouthful, “Has she asked about me at all?”
(Y/N) burned her tongue on the stew. She knew he was going to say Nurse Redfern, but it didn’t make hearing it any better.
“Once or twice.”
“And?” he pressed, abandoning his knife and fork.
She shrugged, “Joan’s always been cautious of her feelings. She keeps asking if you talk about her at all. I suppose because she wants to know if you’re interested before she makes a move.”
“And what have you told her?” he asked, leaning forward, wide eyed at her words.
“That she should go with her instincts,” (Y/N) said quietly, “That she should stop doubting herself.”
John positively beamed, “Oh, now that’s brilliant.” He fell back in his chair, grinning, “Well done with the spy work.”
(Y/N) felt her stomach squirm again, pushing her food around. She couldn’t help but feel special that John sought her out for company – hopeful that it was because his human self took an interest in her unlike the Time Lord version. But he still couldn’t fathom a future with her, fake life or not.
It made her queasy.
“Are you alright?” he asked, digging into his food once more.
“Fine,” she said warily, “Just fine.”
~~~
It was later in the evening, an hour past the usual time for dinner, and (Y/N) was ascending the staircase towards the professor quarters.
There was a request from John Smith: a bowl of soup and crackers. There was a report of an upset stomach and slight fever, meaning he would take supper in his room.
He asked that she deliver it personally and it was almost hilarious when she told the lady’s maid that the assistant cook was to leave the kitchens.
It was foreign walking the halls of the school, but she felt a thrill of excitement at seeing John again. As always she couldn’t help but hope he wanted to see her because he finally realized he liked her.
And as always she was disappointed beyond belief.
She knocked on his door and nudged it open with her hip, tray of soup in hand. She was able to catch the last second of Nurse Redfern kissing John’s forehead.
Of course Joan was there. John was sick.
“Oh, goodness,” Joan gasped, “The kitchen maid.”
“(Y/N),” John said warmly, flushed at having been caught in an intimate moment. “You’ve brought my supper.”
(Y/N) bowed her head, refusing to look at him, and she hurried to place the tray on his side table. She could see Joan holding her stethoscope tersely from the corner of her eye.
In a small voice (Y/N) asked, “Might I inquire after the patient?”
“He’ll be alright,” Joan replied, “Just a tinge of the flu.”
John smiled, “I’ll be right as rain in the morning.” He spotted the way she refused to look at him. “Thank you, for answering my call.”
“Always,” she said instantly. “I’ll always answer.”
She stood there rather awkwardly for another minute, Joan clearing her throat to excuse the silence.
“That’ll be all,” the nurse said.
(Y/N) curtseyed, scrambling to get out, “Of course, sorry. If there’s anything else…”
“Thank you,” John said again, his voice quieter.
She didn’t dare look at him to see if his face matched the sweet sound of the thank you. She instead ran to the nearest stairwell and found refuge in the staff quarters.
She felt the Doctor’s sonic screwdriver in her pocket, a little reminder of the mission at hand. A small part of her chest began to hurt as she clutched the short piece of metal. It grounded her with thoughts of distant planets and endangered people. Of quick breaths stuck between a tight space.
It was easy to fend off her affections when the Doctor was too busy to look on anyone else. But with the steady pace of a human life, he was falling for another. And that realization pained her like nothing else.
She could only wish the three months went by quickly.
~~~
The Doctor stood outside the tardis, framed by the grey hills of 1913 England. The wind was whipping his coat about, sending his hair into a frenzy.
It was so him, it was making her sigh with relief.
“Hello there,” (Y/N) said, climbing the hill, “Feeling more like yourself?”
“Yes, well…” he shook one of his legs, “The right foot still feels a bit like John Smith. But the rest of me is one hundred percent the Doctor.”
(Y/N) laughed, looking at him fondly, “You sound like yourself again.”
He returned the soft look, “Thank you – for taking care of me.”
She cleared her throat, “You’re welcome.” But there was another unspoken question on the tip of her tongue. She didn’t want to sound too curious but she whispered, “How was Joan?”
“Fine,” he answered immediately, “She’ll be alright.”
“Right,” (Y/N) said, “I’m sure it couldn’t have been easy to… to say goodbye. You were so fond of each other.”
“John was,” the Doctor said, “And he is a part of me. So by proxy I suppose I am somewhat fond of her.”
(Y/N) nodded to herself, taking a step towards the tardis door, but the Doctor blocked her way.
“But a life with her isn’t possible,” he said softly. “It’s not a life I want.” He so desperately wanted her to look up at him. The way she avoided his gaze was sending that familiar ache through his chest.
He hadn’t realized that his human self would pursue another woman. He could imagine how difficult that must’ve been for her to witness – encourage even.
“That was a fake life, (Y/N),” he urged her to hear his words, “The life I have now, with you, is what I want.”
She tilted her head up towards him. “That’s kind of you to say, Doctor, but you don’t have…”
“No, you’re not hearing me,” he said, taking her hand. “I love my life because of you. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. You are who I’m fond of. You are who I trust. It’s always been you, (Y/N). Long before this adventure.”
She still had disbelief in her eyes but a smile was growing on her face, “Really?”
He laughed, “Quite a pair, aren’t we?”
“I adore it,” she laughed along, “All of it.” She clutched at his hand, “I love you too.”
“Now,” he kissed her knuckles, “I don’t believe I said love.”
“Yeah you did,” she mused, leaning into him, craning her neck to reach.
He eyed her lips, speaking in that quick, eccentric way, “Yeah, well… let me say it with less words then.” And he kissed her against the tardis.
US AGAIN: Tenth Doctor
Pairing: Tenth Doctor x Timelord!Fem!OC (Vera)
Warnings: Angst at the beginning but nothing else
Summary: A near ending to the Family Of Blood episodes but with Vera in place of Joan.
Word Count: 1.2K
A/N: I was originally going to write the whole two episodes but that was torture because I cannot handle slow burns even if its not really a 'slow' burn so I ended up just writing this scene because it has such a potential to be cute with Vera and Ten
Tumblr media
My hands shook, the necklace removed from where it hung around my neck, now steadily swaying in my hand from the momentum of the shaking. John stood in front of me, holding his pocket watch. Martha had gone upstairs a while ago, leaving John and I to say our goodbyes to each other, even though we hadn’t done anything of the sort.
According to Martha, even in our alien forms we were in love and had a life together – married even. Just the notion of us being married sent a tingle through me, almost unreal.
“We can do this.” I assured him, though I probably needed assuring just as much as he did. “Hold my hand.”
John didn’t hesitate to take my hand in his warm calloused skin that didn’t resemble that of a teacher, but rather someone who dabbled in mechanical work. Someone who liked to fiddle with machinery, taking it apart just to see whether he could put it back together. Maybe that’s who the Doctor was. I couldn’t believe that I had fallen in love with someone that acted like Martha described, but then again, I wasn’t Vera. She had fallen in love with him, not me. I was about to be her, but not just yet.
“We could have had such a life.” John said, his voice quivering, more than I’d ever seen it, tears in his eyes so close to falling that if he blinked, they would settle and splash against the pocket watch. “How are you okay with saying goodbye to this?”
I shook my head. “You heard what Martha said. We’re not going to get out of here alive, we have to change back.”
“But I love you.”
That was when I closed my eyes, unable to deal with the notion of what we could have been. A life flashed before mine, the people and feelings I recognised, but the more I saw, the less it felt like me. John was there through it all. Each unmade memory further, the adoration in eyes when we looked at me grew, which only made my heart ache. When he proposed, the day we got married, the day we had kids, and watching him die peacefully at my side, a full life together that I knew we could never have.
It hurt more than anything else could have on this Earth, but once I opened my eyes and saw him, saw the pocket watch and the necklace, I knew: We didn’t have a choice.
“I love you, too, but we can’t. There isn’t anything we can do, it’s us or the school. Do you really want to be the cause of all those peoples deaths when we won’t really be dying? Elizabeth and John will be gone but the Doctor and Vera will still be there, we’ll still have each other, we’ll still be alive.”
He took a deep breath, now shaking like I was, and still shaking his head, though I knew that he was starting to understand. He knew the stakes, he understood my point, and Martha’s, and most importantly, he knew that he was never really going to have to say goodbye to the girl he had fallen in love with. That they would always have each other.
“Ready?”
But again, he shook his head. “No. Kiss me first.”
A bittersweet laugh fell from my lips which were soon captured against his. One last kiss between Elizabeth and John.
One final moment between us, salty tears in my tongue that would rectify this place. The final time I would know and be around this man I had fallen in love with. A heartfelt goodbye because even though we loved each other as Timelords, I would never see John Smith again. I’d never be Elizabeth again, but part of me was okay with that.
I held his hand as we pulled again, locking with the honey brown that stared down at me. “Ready now?”
He nodded hesitantly. “Yes.” I saw that the tears had fallen.
“Goodbye, John.”
“Goodbye Elizabeth.”
At the same time, I opened the necklace locket and he opened the pocket watch. A gold energy appeared from the objects that were gripped tightly, and the two of us started to inhale it, whatever it was. We didn’t have a choice. Like it was almost calling out to us. It was such an overwhelming feeling, the sudden addition of this new energy source that the human body couldn’t handle it. The aching that came with it slowly dulled to nothing as I blacked out, fainting.
Tumblr media
“Vera.” It was a murmur. I could barely hear it but I definitely knew it was there and I definitely recognised the voice.
“Wh’t?”
“You’re waking up now, I need you to sit up.” And without thinking, I did so. My eyes slowly fluttered open to face the Doctor who settled in a hazy blur as my vision took its sweet time to return. He was knelt in front of me, holding my hand, similar to the last memory I have of Elizabeth.
We were still in the kitchen of the small cottage, and I was sitting in a chair, my elbow nestled on the dining table. It was still dark outside which meant I couldn’t have been out for long, and that the Family Of Blood were still out there, looking for the two of us.
I eyed the Doctor again, a grin, made purely of contentedness and adoration, making its way onto my lips. “Hi.”
“Hi.” He returned, with a very similar smile. Suddenly I was pulled towards him into a hug, his arms around my waist, face buried into my neck. “Long time no see.”
 “You could say that.” I giggled, arms wrapped around his neck. “God I missed you.”
“Missed you more. Can you remember anything?” He questioned, pulling away and standing up, holding out a hand for me.
“Everything.” I replied, taking his hand and heaving myself up. Unfortunately, I was still heavy on my feet and a little bit dizzy still, so I nearly toppled over, almost. Luckily the Doctor caught me, arms around my waist. “I can’t believe even as humans we found each other. I know we married as soulmates but that just takes it to another level.” I lifted my hands up my hair, pulled the clips out and letting it fall around my shoulders, thankful to not have it always up.
The Doctor watched me as I spoke, with such a small smile that wouldn’t be recognisable as a smile if you didn’t know him.
“What?” I asked, dropping my hands that had been tangled in my hair.
“Nothing.” He shrugged.
“No, something.” I eyed him. “Don’t think I don’t know you. Tell me, what is it?”
He grinned down at me, taking my hands in his and wrapping them around his neck, wrapping his own arms around my waist and pulling me flush against him. My fingers subconsciously raked through the hair at the bottom of his neck, looking up at him. “I love you, that’s all.”
“Aw, how cute.” I laughed, leaning up and pressing a chaste but loving kiss to his lips. “Love you too, now come on, we’ve got to go find Martha and the Family.”
“Lead the way.” And we were off, ready to sort everything out.
10th Doctor x gn! reader
Warnings: Doctor who violence and a small kiss on the cheek
You had been stuck in some type of weird containment light for at least 4 hours. The Daleks had captured you in hopes of luring The Doctor out but so far had been unsuccessful. "He wont come, hes not that stupid." You told the Daleks for what felt like 50th time. "The Doctor will, he always does." One of them replied in their robotic voice. You just rolled your eyes. You weren't really scared more so unhappy with your current situation. You were bored, hungry, and most of all tired. You sat down in your light enclosure and brought your knees up to your chest. You wrapped your arms around, let your head rest on your knees, and closed your eyes. You fell into a state of rest were you weren't really sleeping but weren't really awake either. After an hour or so of this you heard a far away crash. A Dalek exclaimed "Its The Doctor!" and then another one started barking orders. One asked what they were supposed to do with you, that's when you fully woke up. You lifted you head up to see Dalek pointing their gun right at you. "You will be forced to pass out" It said. "Wha-" before you could finish a harsh light shined in your face and you a felt a harsh shock throughout your whole body. You collapsed on the ground.
When you woke up all you could hear was a whirring sound. You slowly opened your eyes and and saw a blue light. You shut your eyes again tightly. "Oh sorry, didn't realize you were awake" you heard a slightly Scottish voice say. "Doctor?" you said rather quietly. "Yes, i'm here" he said softly. You tried to prop yourself up but immediately fell back down. "Careful you had quite a nasty shock" The Doctor leaned you up against himself. "Where did all the Daleks go?" you asked confused. "Sent them back to the void, hopefully that'll stop them from causing trouble for a while" The Doctor said quite proudly. "Right well thank you" You told him before kissing him on the cheek. His face flushed red before he said, "Lets get back to the Tardis. Your gonna need to rest for a while" The Doctor picked you up bridal style and with that you were both off to The Tardis.
