Caught in the Rain - Zoro 🎃

notes - AHHHHH THANK YOU! I was super excited about this when I saw a list of prompts and was like omfg yes I need to do that! And what a cute idea!! I love writing for Zoro and I just haven't done it in a really long time!! Thanks so much and have a seriously awesome day!! <3 word count - 387

It was normal that Zoro got the two of you lost on walks. And it was always normal that you followed him for some reason. It was totally on you that you guys were out in the middle of no where, surrounded by golden leaves and dark skies.

"I think it's going to rain, Zoro." you said, squeezing his arm.

You got nothing but a grunt in response.

"Just let me lead," you finally said. "You can't find anything for the life of you."

"It's not my fault." he pouted.

"It literally is your fault!" You wanted to be upset, but there was really no point in doing it since 1. you were used to it and 2. it wouldn't help find the way.

So you took a deep breath and tried to get your bearings.

Which, of course, was interrupted by a raindrop landing on your forehead.

You prayed that it was just one and kept moving, holding Zoro's hand so he wouldn't get any more lost than the two of you were.

But more came.

And more.

And soon, it was downpouring.

You wanted to be upset, you really did, but when you looked around at the rain falling on the leaves above, smelled the fresh rain air, and saw Zoro smiling at the sky, you couldn't help but smile.

"We'll find our way," you sighed, wiping some water away from Zoro's eyes. "But we gotta figure out how to get out of the rain first."

Zoro kept his eyes on the sky with a smile. "I don't mind being in the rain."

"But you'll catch a cold." You grabbed his hand and pressed a kiss to his knuckles.

"That's what Chopper's for."

"Working the poor little reindeer too the bone, now, are we? I'm just saying, let's get back so we can-"

As you started to walk away, you felt Zoro's hand on yours. You looked at him, who was soaked with rainwater and blinking the water out of his eyes.

"You look pretty in the rain." he said.

You froze and looked at him with wide eyes.

He pulled you closer to him and pressed a kiss to your forehead before trying to lead you both out of the rain.

"Zoro?"

"Yeah?"

"Remind me to never let you lead us anywhere ever again."

13. What feedback did you receive for your writing that stuck with you?

- Well, first of all, I have this absolutely horrible habit of rambling and writing sentences miles long (:D), so I may have received quite a bit of feedback about that both in English as well as in my mother tongue. Every now and then I still often find myself typing like a total madman, without breaks or periods in between, so I try to go through them and cut them down in smaller sections. I don't nearly always heed that advice, but I try to. Because now I notice that when others are doing it in their writing, rambling on and on without breaks, it's harder for me to read and stay focused. :D So, yeah, I think it's important.

There have been other kinds of feedback over the years, mostly small things that I've tried to keep in mind. But since they are mostly minor things and I've noticed that other people don't always follow/know them in their writing either... *shrugs*.

18. Show us a piece of dialogue you really like.

Ohh, man. 🙈 I wrote this part in my latest wip a while ago and it may not be my best dialogue ever, but I like it regardless:

Yennefer’s face lit up with a grin and she laughed. “Oh, yes, Prince Charming,” Adding fuel to the fire. “I'm sure he’s delighted to come back home to his biggest fanboy ever.” “Oh, knock it off…” Cahir moaned, giving her a small kick with his left foot. Ciri and Yennefer giggled in response, and Fringilla hummed, amused. They all knew about his crush, teasing him about it at any chance they got, and it didn’t make him feel any better. “I’m sure he’s just pissed after another shit day at work and that he has to come home and see my sorry face after everything I’ve done…” “Nonsense,” Yennefer gave him a small slap on his backside which made him jolt. “He’s going to be so happy to see you again and he’s gonna keep fussing all over you and cook for you and we’re just gonna sit here and watch it all happen. Maybe pop some popcorn while we’re at it,” She turned to look towards the kitchen, then back at Ciri. “Do we have any?” Ciri shrugged and Cahir lifted his head from the pillow, scorning. “We? You don’t even live here!” “Oh, don’t be such a sourpuss, C; we’re practically family,” Yennefer brushed him off and dug out her phone from her pocket. “Should we call him and ask him to bring us some on the way back?”

✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?

Mmm good one!! It's insane dynamics around fidelity and desire to be of service tbh. Shows up all the time in everything.

😬 Which of your fics would you be most horrified for friends, family, or coworkers to stumble upon?

Omg this is a hard one but I think it would have to be Solid and Full just because of exactly how much explicit knowledge it would demonstrate that I have about dyke BDSM and related accoutrements 😔 like many people know that in a vague sense but I would prefer they not find out EXACTLY how much. Especially my family and coworkers!!!

here's a snippet from the cale/willy thing i'm working on right now:

“I usually take the TTC,” Nylander says, once they’re both sitting in the back of the taxi. “But, you know. I don’t know how out you are -“

“Wait. Where are you taking me?”

“Wouldn’t you like to know?”

Cale tries to make out his expression in the dark backseat. “Well. Yes?”

“I figure we’ve got two choices.” The car has pulled away from the curb, so one of those choices has probably been made already. “We could go to the Village, or we could, um. Go back to mine. Either way, the TTC is usually full of people, and this is Toronto so, like, everyone will know who we are, and I didn’t know if you’d want that, so…”

Cale looks out the window, at the smear of city lights. “So which one did you pick?”

Nylander doesn’t pretend to misunderstand. “The Village,” he says. “But my place is in that area, in case you wanted a different option. Or, like…”

“Let’s do it,” Cale says, and winces. “Uh. Thanks, William.”

“It’s just Will. Or Willy.”

“Cool.” He doesn’t have a first name other than Cale. No variations to select from. His phone vibrates with an incoming text: Nate, wondering where he went. A little wonder never hurt anyone. Still. He shoots back a text: went out, I’m fine. He tacks on a quick have fun tonight, and then he puts his phone on Do Not Disturb. “I usually go by Cale,” he says, sliding his phone back into his pocket.

Will laughs, like Cale hoped he would. There’s something satisfying about his laugh, like getting a bird to land on an offered hand. That happened to Cale, once, when he was a kid - a chickadee swooped into his palm, snatched a sunflower seed from the pile there, swooped away to crack it against a tree branch. He’d been standing by the bird-feeder, hand outstretched for what felt like an hour, June sun pelting his shoulders.

What's your favorite fanfic idea that you'll most likely never write, and how often do you daydream about it?

Okay so I started this Angel/Devil AU that i think I will never finish because it somehow ended up dealing with really large subjects of heaven and hell and I'm so not religious, I don't know how I would handle this delicately. Doesn't mean I won't ever try and just have fun with it without worrying too much but knowing me...yeah I worry. So rip Angel/Devil AU. The concept was basically them trying to convince the 911 ls peeps of doing either good or bad deeds. Carlos as the angel, TK as the devil, which you know might ruffle some feathers already, though I'd hope to make it more nuanced than it seems at first glance. I think about that from time to time but frankly, my big WIPs (First Aid and Let Me Series) take up all my mental capacity.

17. Do you eat/drink when drawing? If so, what? I like to have something to drink with me: water, soda, flavored milk, juice, the like. Especially when I'm working digitally, as that usually turns into working for blocks of anywhere from 2-8 hours at a time, so I don't begrudge myself a fun drink for morale and hydration

21. Art styles nothing like your own, but you like anyways I really like Kachō-e/Huaniaohua and Art Deco paintings. There's a lot of attention given to shape, contrast and composition in those styles that makes a lot of pieces end up looking really nice, but I can't say either really resemble what I do.

29. Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically: I have so much love and respect for paint-on-glass animation, like in the Shakespeare Animated Tales for Richard III and Hamlet, but it's also very far removed from my art style and techniques I use that I mostly watch it to appreciate <3
