Thinking about how much I would genuinely enjoy doodling the kid Leo spinoff comics if only I didn't have to explain every single time that they aren't canon and that them being canon is not possible- I really did want to explore Present Leo's complicated emotions and healing process but I have a problem where I get really upset when I'm not like- completely understood? Like I have gotten way better at it as I've worked on projects, but back when I was doing more with the spinoff comics I'd get so frustrated having to explain over and over that they couldn't be canon, even if I wanted them to be. And its not a matter of me SAYING they're not canon just because, I have actual plot reasons that they CANT be canon.

Human: that's true, but mosquitoes are actualy really small and take an insignificant amount of blood, what is really annoying is that their bite is itchy

unreal unearth first impressions

OKAY REALISING I AM RELISTENING TO THIS ALBUM FOR THE HUNDREDTH TIME JUST TODAY ACCIDENTALLY SO IIM GONNA QUICKLY WRITE DOWN MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS BC IM ALREADY BEGINNING TO ACTUALY THINK ABOUT THINGS AND LOOK AT LYRICS AND READ OTHER PEOPLE'S OPINIONS, so here is an only slightly tainted not quite first impression of unreal unearth from me (obviously the singls ive heard before but)

de selby (part 1) i turned on the album sitting in the absolute dark, ten minutes past twelve at night, this started playing, cue instant tears. i think i was just hit with 'this is the most beautiful thing ive ever heard' and i wasn't expecting that from de selby 1 for some reason. and when the irish kicked in that just. no words, just crying and im what two minutes in. i wasn't even thinking about what he'd been saying about connemara in the dark and mirrors of people you used to know (i'd seen him talk about it, but purposefully skipped the actual song when it came up online) it was just. de selby 1. and the part as gaeilge

de selby (part 2) sexy groovy silly fun, it's really growing on me, thinking about 'i'd still know you, not being shown you

i only need the workin' of my hands' also i cant wait to read third policeman and look at this completely differently

first time the beginning was jarring, and then at the lyric about his name i kind of :( i also liked the lethe/liffey parallel, it's so very hozier of him to do that. god the push and pull of there must have been something off from the beginning? if every time they called him baby he died? something like that was my first interpretation, now im wondering if it's because it's not his name and they're the one that made his name sound wonderful for once. intellectualising that part of the lyrics kind of ruins it for me ngl, i think it's more about how it feels, i think it feels like contrast like not knowing if it hurts or is wonderful. little detail of when he says come here to me and it sounds so casual and irish like come here to me tell me, i really love it. and the final lyric hurt. really impeccable timing for a breakup album like

the vibe here is basically 'i thought i'd hate it but actualy for the most part i stan'

- charlie shoulda been the character image for this ep, not luciana (love her tho and it's good to see her again)

- charlie surviving was something i felt was kinda unnecessary when I found out about it bc like, they got rid of so many characters in kinda meh ways but charlie had an easy death explanation right there that they coulda used but I actually love that she was brought back and only for a small amount of time tbh

like we get to see some great stuff with her - madison finding out she killed nick, troy talking to her about nick - but don't have to have her around for the rest of the season when we only have 4 eps left and an already large cast to give screen time

- I think charlie basically killing herself for the cause makes sense. like I dont feel like they had her kill herself bc they didn't know what else to do with her (tho I'm sure if she stayed alive they wouldn't have known what to do with her lmao)

- charlie defo looked too young and her hair was shit but I can forgive it for the good content

- the nick flashbacks :( I miss him

- was some drama on twt bc some ppl said kim dickens isn't the best actor and my two cents is they're kinda right sorry. she's not bad all the time but she's rarely absolutely incredible. she's probs the weakest actor of all our main characters and has been since the early days. I will say tho that the sometimes the meh dialogue doesn't do her any favours

- daniel saying how he's gonna strangle troy with his bare hands... ily king but plz don't do that 😭

- I love that charlie and luciana are basically daniel's daughters, love them all a lot

- already knew about nick's ashes from leaks and it was another thing I was a bit ??? about bc I felt like they were doing that for the sake of having a bunch of references in the final eps but I think they explained why they have his remains pretty well actually and it being part of why madison didn't stay pissed at charlie was good

- troy going around chopping off walker arms to make madison think she's seeing alicia everywhere is so 😭 like first of all I'm a genius bc I called it and second of all I said in that post that I thought it would be a bit silly but it kinda works actually. I hope the reason he's doing that is bc he lied about killing her (tho I can defo see him cutting arms even if he has actually killed her)

- the tracy stuff was the stuff I was most iffy on bc the idea of troy having a daughter and a significant other is crazy to me and I do still feel that way a little but I also loved the scenes about it a lot so.. I'm optimistic.

- something about seeing troy be genuinely worried about someone is great. I loved madison and troy both being out there while he was running around worried for his kid idk like something about him kinda dropping that 'I'm tough and in charge' thing for a moment while he was worried about tracy and while madison was literally right there with him is the shit I'm SO in this for like AHHH. need more of it

- troy's daughter being called tracy is still dumb as fuck and I don't think they're gonna be able to give an explanation for her being called that that makes it less dumb. (like even troy being the kid's adoptive dad and not biological dad and the kid was already born before he met the kid's mother would still be a stupid explanation bc what are the odds)

- I know troy said that tracy's mum is the woman who saved him but I really hope there's more to it than 'troy was saved by a woman, they fell in love and had a kid and then madison killed the mum at some point' like.. the madison killing the mum part is really interesting and I'm excited to know more (my initial thought a while ago was that she killed the mum when her and tracy were out somewhere and took tracy to padre but clearly tracy isn't with padre so now idk) but the other stuff feels very fanfic-y and not in a good way idkkkk

so far everything I thought I'd be meh has actually been pretty good so it's very possible if that IS what's happened I'll still like it a lot but I want there to be more to it than that i think

- I feel like I'm at such a weird point right now where I loved the tracy stuff we got in this ep and I'm very intrigued by who the mum and is and what happened to her but at the same time I'm like troy having a wife(?) and kid still doesn't fully track in my mind so I keep going back and forth on how I feel avout it 😭 I basically just can't wrap my mind around him being a shagger sorry idk how else to say that

actually seeing it play out will probs warm me up to it a lot more bc that's what's been happening so far. I think the main reason I still find it odd is just that it's hard to take the 12yr time gap into consideration like he's not s3 troy anymore yknow A LOT has happened since then and he's obviously older and has experienced shit (that I would kill for a ton more information on)

- looking forward to the next ep but currently it's screaming that troy won't be in it much/at all which is Sad but if that is the case I'd rather get that out the way sooner than later

i can't tell if you're prompting me for my ancient headcanons or my oc so i'm taking it as both actually.

starting with the ancients themselves:

their wings were clipped, growth-stunted or removed as a sort of prevention of the self-preservation of the fifth karma, because you would, of course, out of instinct, try to protect yourself with your wings if you had them. this ends up with a lot of phantom wing cases cause. yknow. you're supposed to have wings but they aren't there. so some managed to get their wings back but kept them hidden udner a cloak/cape or the like and only spread them when nobody else was looking or if they were around others who still had their wings or people they were close with.

the higher circles, of course, being the oh-so important bastards they are, never had their wings clipped, growth stunted or removed - but only the higher circles knew this because y'know. gotta lie to the lower circles so they don't have theirs. cause they don't have freedom. symbolism :) (<- normal about the symbolism of clipped/growth stunted/removed wings actualy(has phantom wing syndrome))

i dunno if they'd be like. natural or not. maybe some cities shared the genomes with eachother and they bioengineered themselves and over time they were more common because they were practical? but then later it turned into the whole.... clip them to how you aren't karma 5 etc etc .. u get my drift. probably.

anyway. onto endless.

endless is actually connected to one of my friend's ocs - @pinkavtomation's shattered omens (hopefully you don't mind the mention - i know how absolutely normal both of them actually). they were an ancient that visited constantly them since they were a kid (unlike everyone else, because everyone else just stayed for a short time), so omens got to watch them grow up and grew close with them. omens was endless' only friend and they really enjoyed spending time with her, countless cycles spent just talking or enjoying eachothers company - at least until the mass ascension came around. at first endless tried endlessly (hah) arguing against ascending. they didn't want to. they kept getting their cerenomy pushed further back until they couldn't anymore, even though they weren't even close to the last ones ascending. they realised how futile it was to keep arguing and just gave up, not even bothering to say anything when it's mentioned, just giving a melancholic look before looking back away and covering themself with their wings.

at one point they did threaten to just fly away to not be ascended, but that was responded to by clipping their wings with void fluid so they would never grow back. an deventually, their time came to ascend. they pleaded for omens to do something- she was the iterator afterall, they would listen to her, wouldn't they?

but in the last moments, omens wasn't even watching with her overseers like she did with everyone else. endless tried to fight as they were lead to ascend, accidentally ascending one of the people forcing them to ascend too as they both fell in. endless fell in chest first, which left a large, tauntingly beautiful golden burn on their chest as an echo. omens only saw the last few seconds of their life - pleading with their face for something to be done. but nothing - omens didn't do anything.

endless at first, as an echo, was a bit bitter, that their closest and only friend did nothing to help them or stop anyone. they were distant, leaving small echo feathers (instead of scales!) on the distant perimiters of omens structure, and just far enough away for her overseers to catch glimpses of them. as time went on, endless got closer, letting omens' overseers see them for longer, and leaving feathers closer.

until one cycle, where endless has the courage to finally leave a feather in front of omens in her chamber. :)

also- whirl, if you wanna go further on this with omens- go fucking wild actually i love omens i love endless please im so glad theyre happy. the best of friends

Same Luca and Carlos anon here. Not sure if you got my last ask but I just had another thought and needed to share. You know how Carlos and Andrey looked quite close in Turim? Like real friends? I always think Carlos doesn't really have friends on tour because he's much younger than the other guys. But what if he and Andrey became close because he found out about him and Jannik and was actualy supportive? Like, he spotted them holding hands and was totally cool about it so Carlos kind of leaned on him ever since.

I'm SO glad you brought Andrey into this!! Thanks to the ATP Finals I have fully adopted him and I really love him now AND SEEING HIM AND CARLITOS TOGETHER WAS SO NICE

okay this doesn't exactly fit bc i dont think it's super popular per se but it's on my mind today. i hate seeing fanart of kakashi and gojo together. people always twinkify them and alwasy draw them like they're about to fuck. 1) kakashi is not hot (dont get me wrong i want to fuck him but not cause he's like. physically attractive.) 2) they are not the same person 3) gojo will never be kakashi gojo wishes he was kakashi 4) kakashi would kill that man

i wanna say wyll but like that shit actually makes me fucking angry and not in a silly haha way so i am going to instead say sera dragonage. now. i know there are a lot of sera dragonage haters out there and there are some things about her that i do not like. however i overall love her and i think she is a tragic case of bad writing and wasted potential. why did they have a straight white guy write a lesbian whose character arc revolves around internalized racism. why does the game literally talk shit about her during her romance arc. literally one of her romance quests is "you love sera and wanna get her something to show her how much you care. go ask your friends for gift advice" and EVERY SINGLE COMPANION OR ADVISOR IS JUST LIKE. I HATE SERA SHES SO ANNOYING WHY ARE YOU DATING HER. UGH. ALSO. the game makes you be so mean to her!! so many times the only dialogue options with her are like "stop talking weird i dont understand you'". also the fact that YOU CAN LITERALLY KICK HER OUT AT ANY TIME??? nerdy bullshit analysis of what i think some of the edible crops from the cookie clicker garden probably taste like under the cut

there is no fun wording in the description to suggest that there is anything interesting flavour-wise about either baker's wheat or thumbcorn. gildmillet likely just tastes like normal millet seed (therefore delicious.......). ordinary clover is just a clover, golden clovers likely taste the same.

cronerice's description says it is related to the weeping willow, which is edible but apparently disgusting. it's usually used moreso as a medicine than for food, and apparently it's largely used to soothe achey joints. orteil is really funny.

elderwort is said to have a strange heady scent and for some reason that instantly makes me think of lily of the valley. i don't think lilies are edible (hence no shimmerlily on this list), so i'd probably say it is similar to how roses taste. i know it's probably inspired by creeping bog wort since it looks so much like it, but bog wort aoparently doesn't have a super distinct flavour besides being vaguely floral.

bakeberry is the one that perplexes me most, i think. as far as a crunchy outer shell i want to say it's something hazelnutty, or maybe something carob adjacent, especially given the description of bakeberry biscuits as being really good with hot chocolate. it might be a chocolate outer shell, but this does not seem Joyous. that said the creamy red inside could really be comparable to anything. red velvet ganache? red bean paste? god forbid, might they be cherry blossoms? (do they have cherry blossoms outside "canada"?)

chocoroot is apparently a normal bramble covered in something like chocolate syrup. i'd assume, then, that this chocolate is maybe a little sap-like. probably more like molasses in texture than traditional chocolate syrup and perhaps has a slightly earthy taste to it. from the appearance and the fact it grows out of the ground it might have more of a dark chocolate flavour. there are no specific flavour descriptors given for the root itself, or indication on whether or not it is edible.

white chocoroot is just a chocoroot with paler, sweeter syrup. this is Relaly interesting to me since real-life chocolate and white chocolate are not related and white chocolate is not actually chocolate at all. this implies, to me at least, that white chocoroot does not actualy quite taste like normal white chocolate but more like milk chocolate, since it is related to chocoroot.

whiskerblooms secrete a white milky substance that may or may not be edible. i might compare this to the sap that comes from a dandelion, considering dandelions also have a cat-themed name, and since the whiskerbloom seems to be a similar plant with long angular leaves that congregate at the bottom and one large flower that grows from a single stem.

drowsyfern is likely some kind of mint or mint-adjacent plant, given its appearance and use as a relaxing herbal tea. not a lot to say on this one.

keenmoss it probably less used for flavour and more used for aroma and scent. i have some oak moss scented candles that i love and i can only imagine keenmoss is like a slightly sweeter, fresher version of that. i didn't need to do a sidenote for this but i Love the smell of moss.

the queenbeet is a sweet ass beet that apparently produces white sugar. knowing that orteil is a funny silly guy i'm going to assume this means literal, processed, granulated white sugar. which i like. she tastes like sugar, next question. juicy variant is the same but Juicy.

duketater is just a sweet tuber, but interestingly it is also described in-game as having a "yellow" aftertaste. what the fuck that means, i do not know.

the only in-game description of the shriekbulb calls it a "nasty vegetable", and visually it looks exactly like a radish. i like radishes, but i get that they are polarizing. likely, this is just a radish that screams. (hell yeah).

i'm now also faced with the equally nerdy but interesting question of which garden plants are technically edible, which are typically eaten, and which are strictly inedible. i'd say most of the molds, rots and fungi are likely inedible, besides ichorpuff and cheapcap, which are typically eaten, fool's bolete which is technically edible but not tasty, and crumbspore, doughshroom and wrinklegill which might be edible. (crumbspore is a mold, but may still be edible. doughshroom is a fungus and it smells appetizing, but that doesn't make it good to eat. similarly, wrinklegill makes you hungry when you smell it, but no word on whether you should eat it. the fact that it makes you hungry is just a thematic thing in this context, but in the context of reality it would likely mean that the fungus was parasitic and spread through being eaten. this does fit the theme of wrinklers pretty well so i'm willing to accept it as canon, and it may be worth mentioning that this is kind of supported by white mildew being a rapidly spreading, ostensibly inedible substance that is intentionally appetizing (creamy and sweet-smelling).)

i think you deleted the post where u were asking about how to title fics but i was 3/4th the way through before i realized so im sending an ask. idk if you still want this, but i gotta dump this SOMEWHERE, so now you're stuck with multiple examples of how to title a fic from my own personal experiences. this gives me an excuse to ramble about them a bit. im sorry

okay but really here's the tldr before i start; i only go for lyrics when i really like the song/line and it fits with a central idea, but ultimately? i bullshit it--but with intricate methods. let us begin...

example 1) rolling with a theme

let me start with one of my favorite fics im writing to get me going. the title: do you remember hanging up the stars. this process was honestly very tedious, but im gonna try and put it in a simple format.

so rolling with a theme. this fic is a canon divergence au, where hell is slightly more competent and kicks crowley out of his flat and replaces him with shax like a month after the appcalypse. so pretty quickly! therefore, this throws crowley very off-kilter, thus resulting in aziraphale picking up the very obvious hints and deciding to Make crowley move in with him instead of Talking about it. its a longfic, and i knew from the start that i wanted this title to be grand And related. so, i made a list of the themes that would be explored.

- crowley and his relationship with the stars

- trust in multiple facets (humans and their competence, their trust in each other now that theyre unemployed and recovering, etc)

- non-verbal communication, despite its flaws, can be one of the best ways to show love

- romance manifesting in different forms but are all valid

so i have that list, and i pick the one that's the most important--for this, i chose the stars. then i diffused THAT--what about the stars makes it interesting? what makes crowley long for them so much? i chose distance--crowley, in the show, has a very dettached attitude towards his angelic self. he doesnt hold that self to any higher importance, because why should he? and yeah, he's valid in this, but he also ends up putting off his stars to that angel, not him. he thinks that because he took such pride, such responsibility for them Before, he shouldn't care now, that he should deny this part of hid past and make himself more miserable because of it. but he does want to take pride, he loved AND loves them so fucking much, and he's just hurting himself more the process. i want him to realize that his mark on the world shouldn't be a burden, shouldnt just be a silly little assignment from before the fall. that heaven wants him to forget, that hell wants him to be disgusted by it, that he's doing what they want. that, if fact, it would piss everyone off if he actually owned up to it. i want aziraphale to help him realize it. i want aziraphale to encourage him. so that's where the title comes in: "he looked at you like you were hanging the stars", but Tweaked. taking a kind of common line and twisting it so it fits This. so. wow i went on tangent. im sorry. the rest will be a lot shorter and actualy helpful 😭 the point is that you could treat the title as a summary but even SHORTER. goes with what sounds right, and also don’t think about it too much. OKAY MOVING ON

example 2) rolling with a theme (song lyric edition)

okay next example. title: hold me like you’re scared to. it’s a lyric from the song ‘use me like you do’ by noah floersch. it’s a titanic ‘au’ (don’t judge me please 🥹) about aziraphale and crowley on the boat and getting through millennium of fear of being together while also on a detective noir like adventure. themes are easier to see here: the fear of being caught. afraid of showing your love. and I’d already happened to have a song I really liked, but I could really just listen to any song at any one point and be very inspired. you can also study lyrics from places you really like, if you REALLY want it to be a lyric :)

example 3) resonating with a Word

is there a word that’s repeated a lot in the fic? a word that has Meaning? a single concept summarized in a word that’s important here? that’s a title. you have a good title. example title: please. it’s very centered on begging, and the mc has like heavyyyyy memory problems and is trying to grasp the little wisps they have that are slowly slipping away. like stated before, you don’t have to think about it too hard. wanna make the summary the definition of that word? double whammy!

example 4) canon line/something from the fic

this is for very specific things but let’s say you’ve got like. A really good catchphrase in the fic you came up with. or the fic centers around a diverged canon scene. just pluck it and use it! example title: burn fast, burn bright. one of the reoccurring phrases is the metaphor ‘the candle that burns twice and bright burns half as long’. I just condensed it for the title. :)

and here's a couple tips on what Not to do:

- don’t make it too long. 1 because it’s harder to search, 2 because it’s harder to remember, and 3 bc it would honestly be a handful. it’s a preference, but considerable.

- make sure it relates to the fic in Some way, in literally any capacity. in the same ballpark, don’t

- make sure you like it. you’re going to be refering to the fic with that name for the rest of time.
