Today I decided that collecting thrifted mini salt & pepper shakers is my new personality trait and it's not even a joke.
Those are my precious lil babies.

PICKS AND PICS
Having launched into Instagram during lockdown, I kind of lost my appetite for its rapid digestive cycle after a year or so. More an icy pole than a proper meal, if you get what I mean. But a current September “challenge” caught my eye and so I decided to throw some records into the ring.
Here is a selection of the prompts, with my offering below.

Magic Knight Rayearth Part 1 CLAMP Reread Series
Get in the robot, Shinji! We’re talking magical girls, prophecies, & saving the world in giant Mechas! CLAMP’s Magic Knight Rayearth is a classic shoujo that can sometimes fly under the radar but we’ve been doing a disservice pretending it wasn’t a game changer for the genre.

Quick diatribe: I’ve bought three different records made by supposed audiophile label Music on Vinyl over the years and each one has been a wreck. The latest is this wildly warped Stone Temple Pilots album, which sent my turntable’s needle flying (no easy thing to do on a linear table). Previously, years ago, I mail-ordered Guru’s Jazzmatazz Vol 1 and it had deep gouges in it when I unsealed it because it had been shoved into the sleeve at the plant with rough vinyl pebbles that proceeded to tear it up. A few years later, I picked up one of their Commitments soundtracks while in Germany; when I got back to the US, I discovered it skipped like a third-grader on the last day of school. So I gave them three chances against my better judgment. Never buying something on their label again.
