it's so funny to me when i see people talk about the mcu like "oughhh they should have used [x] character's theme in the soundtrack in the 5 second scene they appeared in" like you really think the mcu soundtracks are cohesive enough across movies to be able to incorporate motifs and themes in a meaningful way. you really think that. lol. lmao, even.

I finally watched all of MCU
in release order because IT MAKES SENSE!!!!
special thanks to @littlegingrnut who watched ALL OF THEM with me. She’s the best.
Idk if anyone cares at all, but I feel like sharing, so here’s some thoughts and reactions, enjoy:
Phase 1:
Iron man

STELLAN SKARSGÅRD YES SWEDISH REP
okay but Thor is a good boi actually,,, I take it back he’s pretty great
Oh nooo Loki - yeah lol as if he actually died
YO WHAT WAS UP WITH THAT END CREDITS SCENE that got me all like WTF and shit
also told ya Loki didn’t die
Captain America: The First Avenger
okay full disclosure, I actually watched this one time before bc I started watching them in chronological order but never got any further than this
it made so much more sense this time
I liked it so much better this time
because THE RELEASE ORDER MAKES SO MUCH SENSE

I love them all so much oh gosh
I MADE IT THROUGH PHASE ONE WOHOOOO

Phase 2
Iron man 3
this movie changed me
aly can confirm - I was very much not okay after seeing this
literally had anxiety through all of it
I mean I LOVED it
but like
the ptsd :(((
although I do love that they showed that, just made me love Tony even more
just... showing the ugly parts - love that shit
but also like noooo tony bby :((((
HARLEY!!!! IS SO GREAT !!! AND ALY SAID HE COMES BACK AT ONE POINT!! YAY
just.... Tony Stark man.

OH PEPPER JUST BECAME 10x HOTTER DAMN SHE JUST GETS MORE AND MORE ATTRACTIVE EACH MOVIE HUH
PEPPER ALMOST DYING? NOPE
THE PAIN IN TONY'S FACE? NOPE
all in all loved this so much and I am still not really okay
Thor: The Dark World
I see why people think this is the worst Thor movie.
DON’T GET ME WRONG IT WAS GREAT
but like,,, meh? the big end fight was so anti-climactic? not epic at all like what the fuck
I LOVE DARCY
but she's clearly gay so stop makin her fool around with the intern
but like Thor is such a soft boi and I love him
again, Loki's two-faced-ness – aRH
but,,,, I get the Loki hype now
I'm aboard the train
I love Loki
oh oh oh the part in his prison cell when Thor comes to talk to him and is all like "enough tricks" and then his cell is all torn up and he's all torn up and AH BABY 😭
Thor just needs cuddles
Aaaaand this is where I accidentally got the worst possible spoiler. :)))
I wanted to watch some wholesome Tony Stark content before bed and so I searched youtube for "Iron Man" and clicked on a video I thought looked nice and wholesome. I accidentally read the top comment and then proceeded to break down and freak out to Aly and Hanna on Aly’s live, and they comforted me and stuff <3
Aly then told me that “hey remember that I told you that the little boy in Iron Man 3 comes back at one point? Yeah that’s at the funeral”
STUPIDLY, I then watched the death scene on YouTube, went to bed crying, and of course, dreaming about it. I will never be okay again and I will never be ready for Endgame thank you and goodbye.
anywAY,,,,,
Captain America: Winter Soldier
*SO MUCH SCREAMING*
I thought that Bucky didn’t deserve to die - and he didn’t - but like,,, DYING WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER THAN THIS
the ~bromance~
nat and steve I mean, so good
I AM NOT OKAY I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THIS MOVIE BUT IT WAS AMAZING
Natasha tho mmmmmhhf
I was rly confused while watching but like everything came together at the end and it was so nice and damn this is one of my favorites so far
Sam is great I want more of Sam
Guardians of the Galaxy
multiple people had told me that they thought I’d really like this movie
honestly? I didn’t
it was kinda meh?
like I found it very predictable and cliché and not in a delightful way
idk if it’s just that I know that Chris Pratt is a dick but I don’t like Peter
I rly like Gamora and Nebula, but like I’m a lesbian, so I don’t think anyone’s surprised that I like the traumatized warrior gals
but like in general I’m kinda disappointed
I only gasped like twice, and it was barely gasp-worthy moments
Avengers: Age of Ultron
All of them together just makes me so happy, they’re so cute with each other AH
loved Ultron as the antagonist. that was great.
but,,,, I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t really get to see any regret from Tony bc he created Ultron
THE TWINS ARE FANTASTIC
whatever’s going on with Bruce and Nat, I don’t like it
TOO MANY moments that reminded me of the spoiler that I refuse to speak. Did not enjoy
everyone just needs to be hugged why doesn’t anybody HUG THEM????
not happy about Jarvis dying :((( even tho he technically didn’t die but like HE’S NOT JARVIS ANYMORE IS HE
and then Tony just replaces him with this Friday just like that??? no i’m not okay with that
in a ranking scenario this one falls in like the top of the middle range? Like it’s not one of the favorites, but it’s still up there.
I FUCKING DID IT AGAIN ARGH
I was just reading about new MCU projects that are coming up and THERE WAS A SPOILER WARNING, but STUPID AS I AM I DISREGARDED that and kept on reading. I was just skimming through the text and I read “Loki who dies” and stopped right there, because AAHH FUCKING SHIT
I was on a call with Aly as this happened and so I told her that I had given myself a spoiler again and that it was about Loki, and she was all like I can’t remember anything that happens to Loki hmm, and so I thought YAY it’s okay, they just meant one of the times when he fake died!!! so I went on to keep reading, but before I could read anything else Aly stopped me, remembering. She told me it would be gut-wrenching and terrible and I’m just-
So disappointed in myself.
Ant-Man
it was an enjoyable movie, but like,,, a little meh?
I feel kinda the same as I did with GOTG
but I like each of them better than the other for different reasons? idk???
the plot wasn’t very thick, like I could have gone away to pee without pausing and probably not miss too much
I didn’t really get invested in the story or the characters
but it was enjoyable for sure
Sam!!! Hello!!!!
Again, like with GOTG, I found it kinda cliché, but in a more delightful way this time
WE MADE IT THROUGH PHASE 2 AND PASSED THE HALF-WAY POINT WOHOOOOO
***
Phase 3
Captain America: Civil War
I constantly needed to be hugged while watching this
in the end I was fine, like I’ve been way less okay after some of the other movies, but during? needed hugs and cuddles
I love that they were fighting each other it was just... umff you know
but also like,,, LOVE EACH OTHER
Wanda and Vision? no thanks I HATE IT
Steve and Sharon?? NO THANKS I HATE IT
literally that’s just weird on SO many levels
and that kiss was-- ugh I hated it.
SPIDER BOY !!!!! UGH I LOVE HIM ALREADY
Black Panther heLLOOO
ALL THE STUCKY THOOO
Tony and Steve fighting in the end got me :(
Doctor Strange
This one falls at the bottom of my list
It was the shortest movie but it felt SO LONG because I was so bored through all of it
it just never got me hooked, I didn’t get invested in the story at all.
there weren’t even any characters that I liked enough to want to see more
sure another infinity stone and getting to know doctor strange and shit, I get why you kinda need to watch it
but I doubt I’ll watch it again
Guardians of the Galaxy 2
just like with the first one, kinda meh
I didn’t really get into it until the last half hour or so
the music really carried this movie tho
and baby groot !!!
I love Nebula so much, such a great character
Yondu dying was really great, it did a lot for his character
I still don’t really like Peter Quill
I feel like it was barely contributing to the infinity saga, the only thing that’s somewhat connected is that Nebula wants to kill Thanos, and the only reason I know that’s connected is because of spoilers
because I’m not really supposed to know the significance of Thanos at this point
but then again, maybe I’ll feel differently when I’ve finished all the movies
Spiderman: Homecoming
SPIDEY BOY !!!!!!!!!
THIS IS A FAVORITE
I CANNOT EVEN BEGIN TO EXPRESS HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS MOVIE
THE TONY/PETER INTERACTIONS WERE SO GREAT
PETER IS A BABY AND HE’S SO GREAT AND AAAAAHH
HE’S ON MY LIST BTW
AND LIKE,,, CAN WE TALK ABOUT HIS FIGHTING SOUNDS COMPARED TO EVERYONE ELSE’S???? Like steve and thor and shit are all like huOH heeeUH oAH ya know?? and then peter’s over here like eeh heh mmmMHF
HE’S JUST REALLY GREAT AND AAH I LOVED THIS MOVIE SO MUCH
LITERALLY SMILED THROUGH ALMOST ALL OF IT
except when things were going bad and during the fight scenes and shit and when he was in big danger and stuffs
BUT LIKE AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH
SO GOOD
OH OH OH AND STEVE’S LITTLE EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS WERE SO CUTE AH
hehehheheh and the end credits tho heheheheh
ANYWAY I LOVED THIS MOVIE SO SO SO SOO MUCH
Thor: Ragnarok
ANOTHER FAVORITE AAAAH
ALL THE BROTHERLY MOMENTS THO
Kinda mad that we didn’t get a hug there in the end but oh well
Thor is so sassy and goofy in this one I love it
ugghhhhh I love Loki so much
Hela has so much Maleficent vibes
Heimdall yESSS !!!
all the Thor/Hulk interactions were so PRECIOUS AAH
this was just such a great movie with great character development for both Thor and Loki and ughhhh IT WAS SO GOOD
“get help” was fucking ICONIC
VALKYRIE THO
oof not excited for infinity war :((
Black Panther
this one falls somewhere in the middle for me
like it was good, but it’s not up there
my main issue with it is that it didn’t really feel so much like a superhero movie, it was more just like... family drama
but Shuri tho, love her
and all the awesome ladies fighting!!! yes!!!!
BUCKY!!!
Avengers: Infinity War
I am not okay
I will never be okay again
I thought Loki dying was gonna be the worst part - and honestly, knowing about it beforehand made it less painful actually
but NO NO NO
THE LAST 15 MINUTES IS JUST A CRYFEST HUH
REAL NICE THANK YOU
oh gosh I can’t even think
I told y’all I didn’t like Peter Quill and well, HE DESERVED WHAT HE GOT
oh gosh nope
I’ve been feeling guilty that all of y’all had to wait a full year for endgame but AT LEAST THEN YOU HAD TIME TO BE OKAY AGAIN BEFORE ENDGAME
fucking shit what have I gotten myself into
Ant-Man and the Wasp
I liked this one better than the first ant-man
It’s still not up there but it was good
idk it could just be bc I know the characters more this time or because I kind of had pretty low expectations but I liked this more
oh also maybe I was just happy that I didn’t have to see like all my favorite characters die like I did yesterday :(((
still not okay
anyway, ant-man and the wasp
I really liked Ava, really great character honestly
I liked Hope a whole lot more this time around
still don’t really like her and Scott together, especially after her mother like talked through him and shit. I feel like if I was Hope and my mother talked to me through my love interest, I would feel pretty weird about it all
but maybe that’s just me idk
oh but what I do like about scott and hope is all of hank’s comments about them
he’s funny hehehe
also Luis! great dude
okay but Bill FOSTER???? as in JANE FOSTER?? SEEMINGLY HAVING NO CONNECTION AT ALL???
there’s too many double names in this whole ass franchise and I’m upset
two Peters, two Eriks, two Fosters.... like I know that’s what real life is like, people have the same names, but THIS IS FICTION
YOU CAN AVOID THE CONFUSION
that wasn’t totally related to this movie specifically but this was the third strike dudes, I couldn’t just ignore it anymore.
oh oh oh and I did not appreciate the mid credits scene, I DON’T NEED REMINDERS OF THAT PAIN THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Captain Marvel
this one falls somewhere in the middle for me
like it was good, and I enjoyed it a lot, but it just wasn’t really anything that left me all like woooaaaah omg AH you know???
I really liked how it connected back to previous movies like with Ronan and the Kree people from GOTG and the tesseract and all that jazz
where can I get myself a flerken tho I want one
I appreciate that no one turned into dust, that was nice
my main problem with this movie is that HER POWERS MAKE NO SENSE
like in the beginning it was kinda okay. I didn’t understand her powers, but at least they felt reasonable
then we got to the end and all of a sudden she’s flying and glowing and strong enough to stop and redirect a fuckin missile, and then she’s FLYING INTO BOMBS AND COMING OUT THE OTHER END COMPLETELY UNSCATHED??
OH AND THEN SHE FLIES INTO FUCKIN SPACE WITHOUT A HELMET OR ANYTHING AND SHE CAN BREATHE JUST FINE???
it just makes no sense, it’s completely unreasonable and it makes her too perfect to me. Too unbeatable. I don’t like it.
but all in all a good movie, loved seeing young Fury and shit
Avengers: Endgame I WILL NEVER BE READY
As I thought, I wasn’t ready
But, I actually think that knowing about Tony beforehand made it a bit easier
I still wish I hadn’t known
and I still bawled like a baby
but like,,, I think I would have been way worse off if I hadn’t known
I’m just so sad now
I really need a hug
and even though I just cried more than I’ve done all year I need to cry some more I think
I’m glad everyone who got dusted came back, although I kinda knew they would
well, I would have been fine with Quill staying dusted tbh. I really don’t like that guy
NATASHA WAS NOT ALLOWED TO DIE, I WILL NOT BE OKAY WITH THIS :(
oh gosh yeah I know I have more thoughts about this movie that I wanna say but I need to be more okay first oh man
okay hi again, it’s the next day and I’m still sad but here are some more thoughts:
I hated the whole Bruce/Hulk think. All the good parts about each side of his character were just erased.
I don’t even see the purpose of it.
Okay I kinda knew that Steve was gonna go back to the 40s, but I WASN’T SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT SO SHH
anyway, I didn’t like Steve staying in the 40s, and here’s why:
he knew that this was the single one out of 14 million times they won against Thanos, so he knew that changing anything at all would fuck it up
but at the same time, I find it hard to believe that Steve could be aware that Tony and Nat dies and not want to do anything about it
even though he knows he can’t
so wouldn’t it have been easier to just go back to the present after he returned all the stones? So he wouldn’t have to live with that dilemma?
ALSO, I WILL NOT ACCEPT that after everything he did to get Bucky back, he just leaves him. Just like that.
Literally the only reason this makes sense is as a setup for the Falcon and The Winter Soldier Disney+ series.
But I still don’t like it
Spiderman: Far From Home
This was nice, I needed this.
I didn’t like it as much as homecoming, but I didn’t expect to considering how much I loved hoco
it was really nice to see some more Peter Parker bc i love him but also like,,, most of it was traumatized spidey boy :((( and that was sad :(
He’s literally just a child and he’s already so damaged and it’s big big sad
the high school vibes were immaculate
not that I’ve actually been to high school in the US but like,,, it felt like a high school movie okok
Okay but like May’s character really did a full 180? I don’t really understand where that all came from, but uhhhh okay then
Okay, Quentin Beck.
before we realized he was bad, I already didn’t like him, cuz it seemed like he was gonna start to become a new father figure for Peter and I WAS NOT COOL WITH THAT
but then I understood that that wasn’t happening so it’s all good
he’s a pretty cool antagonist. not a fave, but pretty cool.
OH OH FLASH IS SO GAY FOR SPIDERMAN THO RIGHT
he actually got some real nice character development that I had not expected, that was nice
all in all, great movie, I love my spidey boy.
pretty sad that I’m done tho... :(
but also like, I watched all of them (except incredible hulk) in 34 days. That’s kinda impressive, right?
ALSO THERE’S NO MORE SPOILER DANGER YAY !!!
and finally, here is my ranking of the movies based on how much I liked them:
0. The Incredible Hulk ( didn’t watch )
SPIDERMAN: HOMECOMING
Thor: Ragnarok

Here it is! Our first ever “what if...” scenario!
I bet you’re excited! (And if you’re not, then why are you reading this?)
Okay, here it is... Drumroll please.
Tumblr media
What if...
Steve fell off the train instead of Bucky? (written by Rebecca)
Tumblr media
Well, the whole timeline of Steve becoming Captain America would be very different, indeed.
One of two things could happen.
Bucky becomes the new Captain America and joins the Avengers as an OG Avenger, instead of Steve.
Bucky doesn’t join the Avengers at all, leaving a place of leadership to be missing.
Well, let’s go through each movies that Steve was in and evaluate each one, shall we?
<-------------------------------->
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
The following is a Wikipedia entry of what happened in this movie AFTER Bucky falls from the train:
“Using information extracted from Zola, the final Hydra stronghold is located, and Rogers leads an attack to stop Schmidt from using weapons of mass destruction on major American cities. Rogers climbs aboard Schmidt's aircraft as it takes off. During the subsequent fight, the Tesseract's container is damaged. Schmidt physically handles the Tesseract, which opens a wormhole into space, sucking him into it. The Tesseract burns through the plane and is lost in the ocean. Seeing no way to land the plane without the risk of detonating its weapons, Rogers crashes it in the Arctic. Stark later recovers the Tesseract from the ocean floor but is unable to locate Rogers or the aircraft, presuming him dead.”
Now if we analyse each of the things that could’ve happened if Steve fell instead of Bucky...
This would turn out the exact same, except replace the face of Chris Evans with Sebastian Stan and visa versa. But of course the Peggy relationship would be different (maybe that what if scenario about Peggy becoming Captain Britain might come true?)
None of this would’ve happened if Bucky didn’t become Captain America. Barnes would’ve been still stuck in the 1940s and died there as he wasn’t injected with the super soldier serum that Steve did. Of course, Steve would’ve taken Bucky’s place at HYDRA (cue HYDRA Cap, but that will come later in the sequel)
<-------------------------------->
The Avengers (2012)
I’m not going to copy and paste the whole Wikipedia plot of the Avengers onto here, otherwise that would be too long to read, so here is a shorten version that someone wrote on IMDB (trust me, it is shorter than the Wikipedia entry).
“S.H.I.E.L.D. has located the mysterious Tesseract device and the Army's super soldier Captain America. The Tesseract is actually a gateway to an entirely new world called Asgard. A mysterious being known as Loki arrives on earth and immediately assumes that he can rule all human beings. But that irks S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury the wrong way. As Loki escapes with the Tesseract, Nick Fury believes this is an act of war against Earth. His only hope is to assemble an actual team of super heroes. Dr. Bruce Banner, who turns into an enormous green rage monster known as the Hulk. Tony Stark and his venerable Iron Man armor. Captain America, the Stark Enterprises created super soldier. Thor, the god of thunder, protector of Earth and his home planet of Asgard, and Loki's brother. Master assassins Hawkeye and Natasha Romanoff. Together they will become a team to take on an attack that will call them to become the greatest of all time.”
Let’s analyse again...
The whole movie would be the same, except for a few bits. Whilst the whole boxing scene would be scrapped, the introduction of Bucky as Cap would be similar (with the memories of the events of the First Avenger and Steve falling off the train). The leadership part would be missing. Bucky considers himself as a very introverted person, so the leadership skills would turned towards Stark, which would be different for the other movies (as well as Iron Man 3).
For this scenario, the introductions would be the same, except the Cap intro. That would be replaced by either Carol Danvers, Scott Lang or Hope Van Dyne (probably not Scott but it could’ve been a possibility).
<-------------------------------->
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
This is the most important part of the franchise. Again, this is another IMDB plot summary of the Winter Soldier cause it’s shorter than the Wikipedia entry.
“Two years after the alien attack on New York, Steve Rogers starts to adjust to the modern world and works as an agent of SHIELD. However, Steve disagrees with the rules of today as he faces a world of threats and complexities. When Director Nick Fury is killed by a mysterious assassin called the Winter Soldier, Steve is warned not to trust anyone, only to find himself being framed for not sharing information. On the run, Rogers launches an investigation into a deadly conspiracy which reveals that SHIELD has been infiltrated by his old arch nemesis HYDRA, who have been hiding in plain sight. With only Black Widow and Falcon as backup, Rogers must once again suit up and defeat HYDRA from launching their ultimate weapon before it's too late.”
Analysing...
To be honest, this whole movie would’ve been the same, but instead of Bucky being the Winter Soldier, Steve would’ve revealed himself as Hydra Cap (or Militant, as it’s known in the comics). Probably not with the whole green and black suit colours, but with red and black (just like Bucky had in the CA:TWS with the red star on his metal arm). Bucky would’ve still met Sam Wilson and their TV series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier would still go on (but more on that later).
The events of the movie could’ve still happened (due to Pierce’s plans and Sitwell being an undercover SHIELD agent working for HYDRA). But Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton would probably be the main protagonists of the movie, fighting Hydra Cap together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
<-------------------------------->
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
Here is yet another plot summary from IMDB about this movie.
“After a successful raid on a HYDRA base, Tony Stark and Bruce Banner create an Artificial Intelligence called Ultron, a peacekeeping protocol designed to help the Avengers protect the world from their enemies. But things go wrong when Ultron sees the human race as a threat and sets out to destroy it along with the Avengers. Now the Avengers, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, the Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, must reassemble to stop Ultron from causing mass destruction. Aside from this, the Avengers also must take on the powerful twins Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch as well as the new entity called Vision. Also, the Avengers find that things may never be the same again after discovering a power beyond their comprehension.”
Analysing...
This movie would be the same, as well as Pietro dying (RIP Pietro). But it is a possibility that Clint would not have a family, due to the fact that he was on the run with Tasha. Also, it is a possibility that Brutasha (Ship name for Bruce and Natasha) would still happen, but it is a low one as maybe during the events of CA:TWS, we find out that Clint and Tasha have a secret relationship that we don’t know of until the Black Widow movie, (which won’t be mentioned in this post but probably in a later post about the Clintasha ship).
With Bucky out of the way, this bit of the movie (courtesy of Wikipedia), “As Stark leaves and Barton retires, Rogers and Romanoff prepare to train new Avengers: Rhodes, Vision, Sam Wilson, and Wanda...” will happen without him. Barton would not retire and help Tasha with helping to train them. But the theory that Stark went to his safehouse (mentioned and visited in Endgame) could happen in this version. But of course, if the, before mentioned, characters in the first Avengers movie were to replace Bucky, then they would train the newbies with Tasha.
<-------------------------------->
Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Here is another important movie in the franchise! And here it is, another plot summary!
“With many people fearing the actions of super heroes, the government decides to push for the Hero Registration Act, a law that limits a hero's actions. This results in a division in The Avengers. Iron Man stands with this Act, claiming that their actions must be kept in check otherwise cities will continue to be destroyed, but Captain America feels that saving the world is daring enough and that they cannot rely on the government to protect the world. This escalates into an all-out war between Team Iron Man (Iron Man, Black Panther, Vision, Black Widow, War Machine, and Spider-Man) and Team Captain America (Captain America, Bucky Barnes, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, and Ant Man) while a new villain emerges.”
Analysing...
Again, to be honest, this whole movie would’ve been the same. Yeah. That’s it. But number two, on the other hand...
...Would not happen at all. Well, actually, the Sokovia Accords were about the Battle of Sokovia in AoU, but the whole argument between Steve/Bucky and Tony wouldn’t happen. Unless either Carol, Scott (probably not Scott) or Hope would disagree with Stark, then it would go along with the original movie. But for the sub-plot (which is Hydra Cap killed Tony’s parents) would only be mentioned. So that’s mean Baron Zemo’s introduction would have to wait until the Falcon and Winter Soldier series. As of Spider-Man and Ant-Man’s introduction (of course, after Scott’s solo movie), that would be the same (unless of course Scott was the OG Avenger to replace Steve or Bucky).
Tumblr media
<-------------------------------->
Avengers: Infinity War & Avengers: Endgame (2018 and 2019)
Two plot summaries from IMDB... (Points number 1 and 2 will be for Infinity War from both scenarios and points 2 and 4 will be for Endgame)
“As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artefacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment, the fate of Earth and existence has never been more uncertain.”
“After half of all life is snapped away by Thanos, the Avengers are left scattered and divided. Now with a way to reverse the damage, the Avengers and their allies must assemble once more and learn to put differences aside in order to work together and set things right. Along the way, the Avengers realise that sacrifices must be made as they prepare for the ultimate final showdown with Thanos, which will result in the heroes fighting the biggest battle they have ever faced.”
Analysing...
So, for IW, Bucky would be back as Captain America to fight Thanos with the rest of the Avengers (except Hawkeye as he is playing tag. I’m just joking xD). But instead of him being the one to help Vision and Wanda, and take the others to Wakanda, it would’ve been Sam (maybe to foreshadow the fact he will become the next Captain America in Endgame). Steve, of course, will be awoken from his cryogenic sleep from Civil War and reunited with his buddy. But when Thanos snaps his finger, Steve would be the first person to be disintegrated (or maybe it would turn out the exact same as the original with Bucky going with Wanda etc...  and Steve staying?).
As for Endgame, Barnes would probably lead grief counselling sessions for survivors (like Steve did). Then, the same thing will happen like the original. But the ending will change. Bucky will give the mantel of Captain America to Sam Wilson and maybe, go back to return the stones, find Red Skull, of course, and maybe go back to the first Cap movie to reverse the roles (so he fell off the train instead of Steve, like in the original MCU timeline).
For the second scenario, I think the movie will go along as normal. But if Carol replaced Steve as the “Captain”, then Fury would never need to send a distress signal to Carol, as she is already there (and the mid credit scene is no longer needed, but I think that wouldn’t happen, due to the fact that Carol is too strong when she is put up with a Norse god, a Gamma radiation monster, two SHIELD assassins with no superpowers and a tech genius with a sarcasm as a superpower. Of course, for Steve and the cryogenic sleep would never happen because no one rescued him in Civil War and he would still be with Hydra.
Endgame, however, would be totally different to the first scenario. There would be no “grief counselling sessions”, only Banner, Stark and Lang would go to New York (which means no Cap v Cap fight). It is possible that the “going back to the 1970s” plan could work with just Stark, but Scott would go with him as well. Unless Carol went with them, then the Cap v Cap fight (with Carol instead of Steve) would still happen. Both the funerals for Stark and Tasha would still happen. But who would return the stones? Probably either Scott or Barton.
Tumblr media
<-------------------------------->
Now time for the last part (finally!), the future movies and TV shows!
First up is the Falcon and the Winter Soldier. There isn’t an official synopsis for the show yet, but here is a Wiki entry...
“After being handed the mantle of Captain America at the end of Avengers: Endgame, Sam Wilson teams up with Bucky Barnes in a worldwide adventure that puts their abilities to the test.”
This part will be a combination of the two scenarios to save time.
The casting of the show has only got 4 characters, in line for the show. Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Baron Zemo (Daniel Bruhl) and Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp).
And, of course US Agent (the “fake” Captain America) played by Wyatt Russell.
For scenario 1, the series will play out the exact same way (depends on if Bucky goes back in time to fix everything).
Scenario 2, however, would be very different. Sebastian would be missing from that cast list, but would be replaced by Evans (who would play Hydra Cap once again). As for Zemo, this would be an introduction to the MCU (unless he would get introduced in the Black Widow movie).
Tumblr media
Secondly, it’s the Black Widow solo movie and other TV series (such as the Hawkeye series and WandaVision). Here is a unofficial synopsis of them (that means it’s not official by Marvel Studios).
“Following the events of Captain America: Civil War, Natasha Romanoff finds herself alone and forced to confront a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Romanoff must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.”
“In April 2019, a limited series focused on Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton / Hawkeye was reported to be in development, with the plot involving Barton passing the mantle of Hawkeye to the character Kate Bishop.”
“Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Wanda Maximoff and Vision begin to suspect things are not as they seem as the two live their ideal suburban life.”
Even though, we don’t know exactly what will happen in the future of the MCU (especially Phase 4), I cannot say what would happen if Steve fell from the train instead of Bucky. But maybe check in with us in about 4 to 5 years when these TV series/movies have come out fully.
So, that’s it for this scenario! Hopefully you have had fun reading this, as much as I have had writing this. If you have any suggestions on other scenarios, just send an ask in to us!
This is Rebecca signing off.
Until next time!

Wait Endgame is your second favorite? That's surprising! No judgement though, but now I want to know how you rank all of them
Oh goodness… that is TWENTY-THREE MOVIES to rank! That’s hard! This might get very jumbly at around the midway point…
1) Iron Man 3 - Everything about it is so perfect. The Iron Fam being chaotic but also 100% supportive of each other? Tony being the first superhero in history to deal with mental disorders blatantly!!! onscreen!!! The action is top notch. The final battle needs to be taught in film school because it’s literally a metaphor for Tony’s main personal theme of feeling like he’s nothing without his armor, but then at the end he’s able to leap from one to the other because it’s not the armor itself that makes him powerful, it’s that he has the powerbravery/will to leap from one to the other.
2) Avengers: Endgame - Y’all are looking at it wrong. Pretend the Infinity Saga is a TV show and it just ended, and now the rest of the MCU is a spinoff show featuring some of the newer/recently introduced characters, but without the core group of the original show.Suddenly the most important characters getting to leave with a bang isn’t as frustrating. But I also love it because it got my two favorite characters so beautifully right! Tony and Natasha, because they are the two who are deemed worthy enough to be turned into the big talking points of the movies, got to end their TV show finale with a huge glorious heroic sacrifice that will make them remembered forever! The time travel is also REALLY clever. And this is coming from someone who has watched a LOT of time travel shows/movies. There is literally only one movie I’ve ever seen that handled time travel better, and that was Arrival. They did away with the time travel paradox by having every past even just create an alternate timeline. And really? They only asked for suspension of disbelief in service of a joke that was not even that funny and I sort of hated and because they wanted the old Steve scene to have a particular emotional resonance, and having him come back through the portal old… wouldn’t have done that.
3) Iron Man - I firmly believe that this is the best movie in the entirety of the MCU. It was the first, and yet it has never been topped. (and yet it’s #3 on my list rofl)It gave us a very complex lead character with a supporting cast that had a lot more depth in their first outing than some of the OG6 had after four movies (*cough*Clint*cough*Thor*cough* - Thor only got good development after Ragnarok). There was also subtlety to the story that it seems hollywood writers in general (and MCU specifically) is incapable of anymore.
4) The Avengers - the very first time in history we get a massive teamup of superheroes? sign me the FUCK up!Loki was a fantastic villain, the characterization of all of them (except for Clint… sorry, pal) was absolutely amazing, and it’s just pure unadulterated fun. Not much more to say than that.
5) Black Panther - Live Action Lion King (2019) WHOMST? There was a live action Lion King in 2018 and it was called Black Panther!I have a few issues with it fuck YOU vibranium! but it’s SUCH a good movie. T’Challa is quite possibly the noblest MCU character/lead, and the supporting cast are all incredible. I also loved the idea that the villain was… actually… right? Oh he was wrong a FUCK in deciding that the way to go about getting it was through violence, but his end goal was correct.Which is actually very subtle (and again… one of the very few MCU movies to do that) and very important message - because so often people seem to think that violence is the answer. Because the cause is “right” and “just”, excessive violence or threats of violence are considered the proper course of action. But as Killmonger proved, that wasn’t the way. Instead we all need to be like Nakia - who wanted the same thing, but worked for it through kindness, sacrificing her own desires, and making the first tiny hole in the dam.
6) Captain America: The Winter Soldier - I firmly hold that this is one of the most overrated MCU movies, and it’s what started Steve Rogers down his path to… the character he ended up becoming… but it is an excellent movie!Natasha gets amazing development, Sam Wilson is better in this movie than he has been since, and the emotional stakes are very high and very well thought out. Also I’m sorry but the bold political statement of “nazis torturing people is bad” is… not all that subtle? or bold? I don’t know why people are saying that this is the movie that addresses difficult political questions because… it doesn’t?
7) Spiderman: Far From Home - I’m sorry y’all, but I love my boy Peter Parker and if you don’t like this movie then I might just fight you.It was a terrific followup to Endgame, and Peter’s trauma was dealt with in a very realistic and unbearably painful way. Mysterio was the perfect villain for Peter to face, because he forces him to confront his trauma… even though he forces it by first torturing Peter with it, but Peter is forced to find a way to cope with his fears, his grief, and his feelings of inadequacy. Also Peter/MJ is the literal cutest and I love them so much.
8) Avengers: Infinity War - ngl this was a VERY tough battle between this and FFH, but FFH won by just a hair.Thanos is the greatest villain of our generation, quite possibly of the past 2-3 generations. The characters they chose to pair up together worked extremely well - I didn’t know how much I needed the Thor/tree/rabbit teamup until it happened. And then that ending… never before has the world held its breath together in such shared anguish as when we watched Spiderman all the characters we love so much fade away into dust. And there was a great cry in all  the world, such as never has been or ever shall be again!
9) Captain America: The First Avenger - Steve Rogers has never been better than he was in this film. Unfortunately it was all downhill after that, but it’s because of this film that he was my second favorite character for a good five years. There is a gentleness to this Steve that is utterly lacking starting in The Winter Soldier, where he becomes this machismo who obsesses far too much over anything he has one (1) emotion about because he doesn’t know how to handle it.This Steve Rogers is emotionally very intelligent, and is genuinely willing to do whatever it takes to do what is right. And I will say, I can understand why he made the decision he made in Endgame, because Peggy is such a brilliant and dynamic and interesting person, I don’t think anybody could have resisted staying with her (if she agreed to have him). @Marvel please bring back Agent Carter, because I need more Peggy.
10) Captain America: Civil War - This movie did a lot of studio mandated things, and because of that was weaker than it might have been, but I hold that it is a very good and very solid movie. Unfortunately, a big fault of the movie is that I don’t think Chris Evans believed in what he was performing, and so couldn’t give it the complexity that it needed (particularly as the Russo’s take input of their cast into consideration when making their movies… actors get to choose a lot of their own character beats unless it’s a plot-mandated beat). And unfortunately, Steve Rogers suffered for this.If The Winter Soldier is the one where he began obsessing over anything that gave him one (1) emotion, this is the movie where that tendency grew two extra heads and turned into a monster. Steve sees this argument the way a soldier who is used to following orders during wartime would, whereas Tony sees this argument the way a strategist during peacetime might. Steve thinks Tony is “trying to win a war before it starts”, while Tony thinks he’s deescalating rising tensions. And unfortunately, Steve is too blinded by his one (1) emotion to see the complexities in the situation.Which, while it frustrates me how poorly this movie did Steve’s personality, those dynamics are very interesting to watch play out onscreen. Plus, the dialogue is sharp and witty, and the emotional beats - particularly everything that has to do with Tony, is some of the most beautifully written and performed drama I’ve seen in a while.
11) Spiderman: Homecoming - This movie did such a good job of giving us a teenaged Peter Parker. All the other movies, Peter didn’t feel like a teenager. He felt like a grownup. This Pete is definitely a teenager - he’s a young kid in a big world trying to be a superhero, and because of that trying to take on problems that he is not experienced enough to take on.The journey he takes on this movie is to learn just exactly that, and by the end he probably is experienced enough now  to take on those bigger threats, but he makes the mature decision not to do that quite yet - proving exactly the kind of man he will eventually grow up to be.
12) Thor: Ragnarok - Finally Thor gets developed. Hemsworth really shows off his acting chops in this movie. He’s always been very charming as Thor, but this is the movie where we learned that he’s not just charming, but also a very talented actor. I personally found some of the clumsiness/slapstick around his character a bit much, but Hemsworth performed it perfectly. This is a movie where the story doesn’t actually matter. Honestly… who even remembers the story? The important thing about this movie are the characters, and they are all done incredibly well, except possibly Loki, and even he got some good development at the very end of it. Thor is finally an interesting character, Hela is an amazing villain, Bruce got some fun development, and Valkyrie should have been introduced five movies ago (@Marvel give me a Valkyrie movie! Why the FUCK are we reportedly getting Thor 4 when you could have had Thor stay behind as king of Asgard and giving Val her own  movie instead? Especially since all of Thor’s important relationships are dead or in the gotg movie, so he has nowhere to move on to! If we don’t have good characters/dynamics, Thor 4 will suck! It will also suck because the heart of his movies have been his relationship with his brother, and that’s gone now).
13/14) Ant Man and the Wasp/Ant Man - Honestly these movies can just be grouped together, because they’re very very similar, and all I would have to say about one I’d say about the other.
The Antman movies are very light hearted and comical, and the important thing here (like Ragnarok) is not the story, but the characters. The family relationships explored here honestly feel like real families - they just happen to live in a world with superheroes. I think AMaTW is the better of the two, but only by a little bit.
15) Iron Man 2 - This is another movie that was made lesser than it could have been due to executive meddling. Honestly, if you re-cut the movie and just take out all of Coulson’s scenes it becomes a much better movie (and would have gone higher on the list). As it is, Coulson dumps expositional world building that doesn’t really work in the context of the movie. What does work is the chaotic-yet-supportive Iron Fam (once again), and the introduction of Black Widow. I think Natasha might have had the best introduction in the MCU, because the audience was who she was fooling. Her job is to manipulate people and fool them into thinking she’s what she wants us to think she is, and only reveals the truth when she’s ready for it. And that is exactly how we were introduced to her. The underlying plot of Tony struggling with his imminent death was also incredibly well done. He wanted so desperately to not be dying, but there wasn’t anything that he could do. And when he ran out of options, he behaved in such a way to make things worse for him (health wise), because nothing was worse than sitting back and waiting for death to come. Better for it to come quickly and for the agony of just waiting for it to pass. Unfortunately Coulson takes away some of the gravitas of that by forgetting Tony was dying and threatening to taze him…All in all, a weak story but fleshed out by some of the best characters the MCU has ever created and introduced.
16) Doctor Strange - A decent movie with decent characters. There is nothing particularly memorable about it, but also nothing particularly bad about it either (beyond casting a non-Asian actress as the Ancient One).
17) Thor - Sort of like Doctor Strange, a decent movie with a charming lead but mostly terrible supporting cast. I will hold that none of the human characters are actually very good. At all. The best thing Ragnarok did was drop them all like the movie ruining load that they are.Once again, Loki is a good villain and an interesting character, and while Thor is underdeveloped he’s incredibly charming and likable in spite of that.
18) Captain Marvel - Yes I am a woman. Yes I disliked Captain Marvel. Can we move on from that please. If Thor is a decent movie with a charming lead, Captain Marvel is a decent movie with a terrible lead. I do not find Carol to be particularly interesting, and will hold that Brie Larson was incredibly miscast in the role. (if you want to hear why, you can peruse this). In general, it’s also a movie that relies a little bit too much on 90s nostalgia, and as somebody who personally hates when a movie relies on nostalgia to be considered “good”, all of that rubbed me the wrong way. The same applies to Ragnarok tbh, but I didn’t mention it up there because I wanted to rant about wanting a Valkyrie movie. (@Marvel please)Unfortunately, this movie is also not one bit subtle with it’s message. And as a woman, I do not relate to a woman whose only personality trait is “stand up to men”. Every other female character in the MCU is quite capable of standing up to men, and they all have a lot of character outside of that. And I will stop there because even saying that much risks me getting blocked right off of this hellsite…
19) Guardians of the Galaxy - I am definitely in the minority for this one, but I never liked this movie. If the 90s nostalgia in Captain Marvel rubbed me the wrong way, the 80s nostalgia in this movie was rubbing me the wrong way. with sandpaper. But my biggest problem with this movie is that Quill is not interesting enough (in my opinion) to be the central character. These characters all feel like sidekicks, and without a strong central lead for them to be sidekicks to, everything just feels very underdeveloped. I also find the humor in these movies to be very cheap and childish. However, I love that the team very much became a family. I believe in their relationships with each other even if each person as an individual character feels very weak.
20) Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - If you took GOTG1 and flipped it on it’s head, you’d get GOTG2. This is quite possibly the worst MCU movie ever, except that… somehow… it has some of the most heartfelt and meaningful emotional beats out of all of them.I felt every single emotional beat, and the fact that the characters were all sidekicks… actually worked well for this movie. They didn’t need to be more than sidekicks, because the “kick” part of sidekick stands for “kick ass”.However, the story was atrociously bad, and one of the worst the MCU has ever done, which is why it’s below GOTG1. But only slightly.
21) The Incredible Hulk - Does anybody even remember this movie? It was boring, uneventful, had the wrong guy playing Bruce Banner, and was just poorly written throughout.
22) Thor: The Dark World - This movie is a boring, dreary, horribly written, badly directed mess. Some of the stuff up on Asgard was decent except for the fact that they fridged Frigga for no goddamn reason, and everything that happened on earth was goddamn awful, verging on embarrassing. And don’t even get me started on the dark elves. They were rightfully dropped from the MCU and never mentioned again because they are just That. Bad.
23) The Avengers: Age of Ultron - the movie where Joss Whedon fucked up Natasha’s backstory for the sake of his self-insert ship, infantilized Wanda Maximoff by insisting the woman with cleverly displayed cleavage who was clearly in her 20s was actually only 15, did not solidify the team as a family (THIS IS THE MOVIE WHERE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN GODDAMMIT), and disrespected literally every movie that came before (including his own goddamn flick).Wow I just realized that most of the awful shit he did was done to the female characters. Can you believe this disgusting asshole has the audacity to call himself a feminist? Fucking disgraceful…Fuck Whedon. He doesn’t deserve to come within a thousand yards of a woman.

Forcefully Optimistic: Spider-Man’s Exit From the MCU… Might Not Be Completely Terrible?
Tumblr media
I’m not a big lover of Disney as a corporation, but there’s no denying that they’ve done some pretty amazing things with the MCU. So when the news first broke about this little lover’s spat between Sony and Disney over everyone’s web-slinging spider-child, I was (appropriately) devastated.
Then, because I both have no life and have a great love of knowing things, I started digging, sorting out the facts and the speculation and then taking a good, long look at what this means for Peter Parker and the Spider-Man franchise.
And I realize… maybe—just maybe—this isn’t completely horrible.
Let’s break it down.
The Facts:
As is the case with anything that changes and develops super-fast, there’s a lot of uncertainty and incorrect information floating around, but here are the facts that everyone can seem at agree on.
Tom Holland is still under contract to appear as Peter Parker/Spidey in a third Spider-Man movie; Jon Watts is being considered as the director for this third movie but, as his contract wrapped up with Far From Home, this isn’t a sure thing.
Under the current contract, Sony has the distribution rights of and creative control over Spider-Man and Spider-Man related characters; Disney, meanwhile, receives 5% of first-dollar gross (meaning that Disney would get 5% of ticket sales, no matter if Sony made a profit or not) and the right to include Spidey in the MCU. Disney already owns all the merchandizing rights for the character.
Disney also suggested that it get involved in other Spidey-related movies, including the Venom sequel. (For a price, of course.)
Under the contract initially proposed by Disney, the two companies would co-finance future Spider-Man movies, essentially splitting both costs and box office revenue 50/50. Therefore, while Sony would have to pay less to produce future films, the company would take a huge cut to their profits and would loose a considerable amount of control over Spider-Man and the related characters.
There are rumours that Disney has come back to play, offering a six picture deal wherein Disney would co-finance all Spider-Man related films, splitting costs and box office revenue either 30/70 or 25/75 split in Sony’s favour. Right now, neither company has confirmed this.

https://boundingintocomics.com/2019/08/23/rumor-marvel-and-disney-offer-new-deal-to-sony-to-keep-spider-man-in-mcu/
The Speculation:
In Endgame, we saw the metaphorical baton being passed on to the next generation of superheroes as Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and—yup—Spider-Man played the most high-stakes game of Hot Potato ever while trying desperately to get the Infinity Stones to the Quantum Tunnel. This cemented Peter as one of Marvel’s new Big Three, meant to replace Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor.
It also, when combined with the current contract between Sony and Disney and the commercial success of Homecoming, Far From Home, and just about every other Marvel movie ever, undoubtedly resulted in Sony laughing all the way to the bank.
After all, it was their intellectual property that Disney just set up as a cornerstone for future Marvel movies.
However, Sony is also in the rather precarious position where its most valuable franchise, by far, is Spider-Man. Far From Home racked in twice as much money on its opening weekend than Sony’s second most successful film of 2019, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The latest installment of Men In Black, which was made by Sony-owned Columbia Pictures, has yet to break even at the theatres (and, at this rate, it probably won’t).
Tumblr media
Source: https://www.boxofficemojo.com/studio/chart/?view2=release&view=parent&studio=sony.htm
Plus, Sony’s had a pretty spotty history with Spider-Man movies—the Raimi trilogy saw a steady decrease of gross revenue across all three films, and The Amazing Spider-Man, directed by Marc Webb, were… not received kindly. Let’s leave it at that.
Venom, for all that it was a box office success that racked in more than US$ 850 million over the course of its run, was pretty much summed up as ‘meh’ by critics, making the success of its sequel not the shoe-in that Sony would surely like. The only Spider-Man movie that’s been an absolute critical success was Into the Spider-Verse.
And, even though Sony has a whole slew of Spider-Man related movies announced, including Morbius and a Venom sequel, they’re still missing their star character—the web slinger himself.
There’s no way that Disney isn’t aware of this, of course, and considering how successful they’ve made the Marvel brand, plus and their ability to churn out (mostly) decent superhero movies year after year, it’s clear that they have an edge over Sony on that front.
However, if Into the Spider-Verse’s critical success and Venom’s financial success are any indication, it’s also clear that Sony’s been paying attention and taking notes—at least as far as superhero films are concerned. This contract breakdown could be the perfect(?) opportunity for Sony to bring Holland’s Spider-Man under their own brand, using Marvel’s successful adaptation of Peter Parker to help bolster their own Spidey Cinematic Universe.
The “Why It Might Not Be Completely Horrible”:
Whew. That was long. Okay… Let’s keep going.
Right now, we’re in this really not-good point in time where companies are merging and consolidating faster than ever. In some ways this is good, because we get standardized service across different brands and we get the possibility of an X-Men/Avengers crossover.
In other, bigger ways, though, it’s… very much not-good.
1. Oligopolies are bad for creativity.
Oligopolies are the business version of oligarchies, where a small group of people (corporations) hold all the power. Sound familiar?
Right now, Disney owns the rights to all the Marvel characters (except Spider-Man), which according to the Marvel Database Wikia, is more than 60,000 characters. The only other big player out there for superhero movies is, of course, Warner Brothers, which owns the DCEU. You can’t get much more of an oligopoly than that.
Adding one more player to the mix—Sony—doesn’t help this problem much, but it does help to distribute the characters out, giving movie goers more ways to vote with their dollars if a major company makes something that they don’t like.
Big corporations only really care about one thing: lots and lots of dollar signs. When consumers don’t have a choice where they get their consumables from, those corporations know that they’ll make money no matter what, and so they have no reason to innovate and no reason to push their creativity.
And, they don’t have any reason to listen to consumer wants or needs, either.
The result? Complacent corporations, consumers who are ignored, and a stagnant movie culture.
2. Marvel is bowing under its own weight.
With 23 movies, five discontinued series on Netflix, plus at least seven more Marvel series set to stream on Disney+, the MCU is easily one of the biggest movie franchises out there. And that doesn’t even count all the preludes, novelizations, and other add-ons.
My point is, the MCU is really, really big, and all of this bloat is starting to show.
The most recent example of this is in Far From Home, when Fury brings Peter to the underground layer and we first meet Mysterio. When Peter asks why Dr. Strange, Thor, or Captain Marvel aren’t involved in handling the Elemental threat, Fury flippantly tosses out a series of vague excuses.
Tumblr media
And we only cover three characters, too. If Strange isn’t available, but we’re still dealing with a guy who—it seems, at least—is wielding magic, why can’t Wong step in to help? Or at least consult? Why not call in Scarlet Witch?
We see this in Endgame, too, in the final fight scene. While it’s a great scene, I’ve heard a lot of people question why Carol Danvers even needed help getting the Infinity Stones to the Quantum Tunnel, or why she couldn’t be the one to snap her fingers. After all, she took the full force of a single Stone when she was fully human and ended up fine, so why wouldn’t she be able to withstand (or withstand better than very-human Tony) the radiation let off why the Snap?
Sure, this sounds like nitpicking, but it’s a problem that’s going to have to be addressed over and over again as we see more MCU films. Why is this character facing this conflict? Why can’t another, better suited character handle the problem instead?
As writers, we should always be asking why we’re putting a certain character in a certain situation—it’s one of the ways to ensure that our plot is an effective one. However, if the answer is “because if I put another character in their place, the plot would be resolved too quickly”… perhaps the conflict or the character choice needs to be revisited.
3. Peter’s never been allowed to stand on his own two feet.
This new, younger, less mature Peter is an absolute delight on screen, and Holland does a fantastic job bringing him to life. In particular, this worked really well for Homecoming. As the first movie that really focuses on how the ‘regular’ world is affected by the Avengers, it’s interesting to see how this happy-go-lucky teenager sees a world that is, once we really get to explore it, surprisingly different from the real world we live in.
However, the MCU has since spent most of its time exploring what makes Peter special, as opposed to what makes him so relatable—one of the very things that made him such a popular character to begin with.
With Thanos’, the Vulture’s, and Mysterio’s motivations being completely unrelated to Spider-Man’s own motivations in the movies, he doesn’t ever have to question his own motivations, opinions, attitudes, or beliefs, meaning that he doesn’t have to grow.
And when the conflict of the movie does catch up with him, he doesn’t have to think his way out of things in the same way that his comic book counterpart or previous movie iterations have always had to do—someone else will always show up. In Homecoming, it was Iron Man; in Endgame, it was Danvers; and in Far From Home, it was Happy.
And, because these MCU Spider-Man movies all always working within the confines of a larger universe, they have to always spend time setting up conflict for other characters and other movies. This takes away valuable screen time that could otherwise be spent deepening his relationship with other characters, allowing him to explore his own thoughts and feelings, or establishing his character growth.
Taking Spidey out of the MCU will let us go back to basics with his character, so to speak. By necessity, Happy, Danvers, Fury, and the Skrulls won’t be in future movies. If something goes wrong, then, Peter will have to use his own grit and intelligence and resourcefulness to get himself out of his messes, grounding the stories of possible future movies in a sense of realism that’s sense escaped the MCU (for better or worse) and better allowing him to learn and grow from his mistakes.
4. It pairs Peter up with his greatest nemeses/anti-heroes again.
As great as it was to see Spider-Man team up with Avengers, the most obvious down-side, I don’t think, as missed by anyone: if Spidey’s hanging out with another corporation’s IP, then he’s not allowed to hang around with many of the 900 plus characters developed in his own world.
With Venom being as successful as it was, having Spider-Man under Sony’s banner means that the Venom versus Spider-Man rematch we’ve all been waiting for is all the more likely. We could see the Black Cat cinematic appearance that was teased in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but was never explored. We could see Peter interact with Sable or Kraven the Hunter, both of which have movies in Sony’s line-up. The possibilities are nigh endless.
Or, of course, this could all go down in a giant dumpster fire. But let’s not think about that too much, eh?

Marvel Cinematic Universe Rankings- Part 2
These are my favorite MCU movies, counting down from 10-1.  Inspired by this post by @hgamesfan ❤️
See my rankings from 19-11 here.  😎
10. Captain America: The First Avenger
Now it starts to get tough with these rankings, because I love pretty much all of these movies so much, it’s hard for me to actually rank them.  This one is such a great origin story, and I love pretty much the entire cast.  The only thing I don’t care for all that much is the rather costume-y look to the Red Skull.
Tumblr media
9. Avengers: Age of Ultron
This is such a good movie.  You have all the Avengers plus the newer additions (well, except Spider-Man, of course), it helps to set up Civil War, and I love the fight scenes.  And who can forget “Language!”  The only reason why I don’t rank this higher is the stupid attempted romance between Bruce and Natasha.  That’s a just no for me.
Tumblr media
8. Thor Ragnarok
This movie is so much better than its two Thor predecessors that I almost find it hard to believe it has the same characters.  I love most of the humor, and the cinematography is absolutely breathtaking at times.  Plus, the story immediately sets up Infinity War.  And no Natalie Portman to make me grumble.
Tumblr media
7. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Ugh, I love this movie!  This is such a good spy story, has excellent fight scenes, and the “Who the hell is Bucky?” actually had me gasping so loud in the theater I scared the woman sitting next to me.  And it introduces Falcon!  Love this movie!
Tumblr media
6. Black Panther
Wow.  This is one of the most beautiful movies I’ve ever seen.  The colors, the music, the beautiful African accents, there’s not hardly anything I don’t love about this movie.  Shuri and Okoye are two of the best MCU women out there, and that’s saying something.
Tumblr media
5. Iron Man
Ah, the one that started it all!  Before I saw the trailer for this movie, I’d never even heard of Iron Man.  This movie is incredible, with its mostly improvised script and really having no idea that it would be launching the greatest cinematic universe ever.  And it also boasts (in my opinion) the best last line of a movie ever.

4. Spider-Man: Homecoming
I remember being so excited when the first Spider-Man movie came out, and then being so disappointed that it didn’t match up with how I viewed the character of Peter Parker.  This movie finally got him right as a nerdy, insecure, high school kid, and the father/son relationship between Peter and Tony Stark is my absolutely favorite MCU relationship.  The villain was great too, in that you could understand the motivations behind his villainy, much like Erik Killmonger in Black Panther.
Tumblr media
3. Captain America: Civil War
Or, as it’s also known as, Avengers 2.5.  Besides introducing the MCU version (and best version) of Peter Parker, this movie presents two flawed characters on opposing sides of an issue with flawed reasons for being on opposite sides.  Tony and Steve both bring their personal feelings too much into this movie, which only feeds the conflict between them.  And the final fight scene is heartbreaking to watch.
Tumblr media
2. The Avengers
This movie was a first of its kind, and it literally knocked it out of the park.  I absolutely love this movie.  It makes me laugh, it makes me cry, it has Loki, arguably one of the best Marvel villains, and the dynamic between the characters is top-notch.  The only thing I don't care for is Cap’s dorky costume.
Tumblr media
1. Infinity War
Yep, after only two viewings, this movie pushed The Avengers from my top spot.  Besides being a first of its kind with a main cast of heroes the size of a small country, there is not a single moment in this over 2.5 hour long movie where I feel that it drags.  The characters are excellent, there’s plenty of humor, the dynamic between Tony and Peter is outstanding (I’m biased, in case you didn't realize 😉), and that ending absolutely shocked me the first time.  I did not see that coming at all.  It’s a testament to the quality of this movie that I love it so much when it’s so heartbreaking. 😢

Agree with my rankings?  I’d love to hear your thoughts!  😎

MCU: 10 Characters We Never Expected To See Again Who Are Returning In Phase 4
Following this year’s Comic-Con and Disney’s D23 Expo, the full slate for the MCU’s Phase 4 has been announced. There have been plenty of delightful surprises, like the casting of Kit Harington as the Black Knight or the Disney+ series confirmed for Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Moon Knight.
RELATED: 10 Characters Who Should Probably Retire From The MCU Soon
In addition to all the new characters being added to the franchise, some that we thought had been forgotten by Marvel Studios have been confirmed to be returning... in some form or another. From a female Thor to resurrected dead characters, you just can't (usually) keep a comic book character down, can you?
10 Jane Foster
Tumblr media
MCU fans became so bored with Jane Foster’s one-dimensional characterization and bland romance with Thor that no-one batted an eye when she was nowhere to be seen in Thor: Ragnarok and the couple’s off-screen breakup was mentioned. The least interested of all was Natalie Portman, who had grown sick of being given no interesting dialogue, if she was given any dialogue at all.
It’s not Portman’s fault that Jane was so uninteresting; the writers failed her. Now, after reinvigorating the Thor character with a dose of comedy in Ragnarok, Taika Waititi is looking to do the same for Jane Foster as she takes on the mantle of Thor in 2021’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
9 Vision
Tumblr media
In one of the final scenes in Avengers: Infinity War, Vision died twice. First, Scarlet Witch removed the Mind Stone from his head and destroyed it to stop Thanos from getting it. Then, Thanos used the Time Stone to reverse time and ripped the Mind Stone out of Vision’s head himself. Vision wasn’t anywhere to be seen in Avengers: Endgame, even with all the time travel and new timelines being created, and for all intents and purposes, he’d be forever dead.
Still, he’ll be co-starring in a series with Wanda Maximoff called WandaVision on Disney+. One fan theory is that Wanda will use her magical mutant powers to manipulate reality and bring him back to life, albeit creating “the Multiverse of Madness” in the process.
8 Sharon Carter
Tumblr media
As great as Emily VanCamp was in the second and third Captain America movies, it became awkward when her character Sharon Carter – the niece of Peggy Carter – drummed up a romance with Steve Rogers. It’s especially creepy now that Steve has gone back in time and married Peggy.
RELATED: The 5 Best (And 5 Worst) Couples In The MCU
Still, none of that can be blamed on VanCamp. Marvel is giving her a second chance in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, in which she’ll have a supporting role.
7 Agent Woo
Tumblr media
Randall Park was hilarious in Ant-Man and the Wasp as Agent Jimmy Woo, the FBI man-in-black assigned to keep an eye on Scott Lang while he was under house arrest. Woo’s interactions with Scott about close-up magic and whether or not a dinner invitation had been extended were hysterical, and one of the highlights of the movie.
However, since it was such a small part, no-one was expecting him to take on a larger role in the MCU’s future. Lo and behold, in Disney+’s WandaVision, he’ll be back in an unspecified capacity, possibly as the FBI agent assigned to watch over Scarlet Witch.
6 Loki
Tumblr media
Loki seemingly completed his character arc in Avengers: Infinity War. After years of villainy or heroism as a cover for villainy, he finally did something undeniably heroic. He came after Thanos with a blade to save his brother. He ended up getting killed in the process, but he’d finally learned to be good after discovering that Thor thought the world of him.

However, in Avengers: Endgame, after he evaded capture and stole the Space Stone, he created a new timeline in 2012 where anything can happen – and we’ll see what does happen in a Disney+ series in 2021. This will be an interesting turn for the MCU. The show will essentially present a hypothetical character arc for Loki, starting from scratch with entirely different events.
5 The Mandarin
Tumblr media
In the comics, the Mandarin is Iron Man’s arch nemesis. Jon Favreau wanted to introduce him in the first movie, but decided against it, comparing him to Emperor Palpatine – slowly build to a big reveal in the third movie. However, after helming the first two Iron Man movies, Favreau handed the reins over to Shane Black, who featured the Mandarin in Iron Man 3, but totally botched it.
The Mandarin we came to fear and anticipate across months of posters and trailers turned out to be a soccer hooligan. Marvel is looking to rectify that with the real Mandarin, due to show up in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
4 Helmut Zemo
Tumblr media
Baron Zemo is an exceptional MCU villain for two reasons: 1) his plan was a success, as he managed to tear the Avengers apart almost irreparably, and 2) he did it without any superpowers or special gadgets. He was left alive at the end of Captain America: Civil War, since Black Panther saved him from killing himself and told him, “the living are not done with you yet.”
However, it did seem like the MCU was done with him. As it turns out, that’s not true. He’ll be back next year in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier to terrorize Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes.
3 Monica Rambeau
Tumblr media
Earlier this year, Captain Marvel introduced us to a young Monica Rambeau, played by Akira Akbar, Carol Danvers’ best friend’s daughter who idolized her. There was every chance that this was setting her up for a future as a superhero, since the character has taken on various superhero alter egos in the comics.
RELATED: WandaVision: 10 Fan Theories About Monica Rambeau's Role
The MCU has so many characters and it has so many forgotten teases like this that it didn’t seem likely that Monica had a future in the franchise. Thankfully, that’s not the case and she’ll be appearing as an adult in WandaVision, played by Teyonah Parris.
2 Darcy Lewis
Tumblr media
Kat Dennings played Darcy Lewis as the comic relief in the first two Thor movies. After those two, she disappeared. As Jane Foster’s best friend, since there was no more Jane, there was no more need for Darcy. It’s a shame, because the third Thor movie was the one that turned the franchise into 100% comic relief. She would’ve fitted right in.
With Jane returning to the MCU in Thor: Love and Thunder, Darcy will also be reappearing, but not alongside her. She’ll instead be showing up in Disney+’s WandaVision, which is being described as 50% comic book spectacle and 50% sitcom.
1 Black Widow
Tumblr media
This one is only true for passive moviegoers who hadn’t been keeping up to date with Marvel’s announcements. Anyone in the know was aware that Black Widow was getting a solo movie in 2020 months ago. For those fans, the surprise was when the character was killed off in Avengers: Endgame – and it was definitely, definitively permanent, too, because it was a sacrifice on Vormir to secure the Soul Stone for Earth’s mightiest heroes.
For the most casual fans, the surprise is her return. Her first standalone outing will kick off Phase 4 next year, and of course, it’ll be a prequel – but maybe not an origin story.

MCU Timeline: Watch each Marvel film and present within the excellent order
http://tinyurl.com/y36ej9gm You’ve got in all probability seen most of Marvel’s films, however what in regards to the TV exhibits? Timelines in the world of comics and movies might be greater than just a little complicated. And now, as we method the fruits of greater than a decade of flicks and Part Three of the newly named Infinity Saga, issues could very nicely change into much more complicated. Will Marvel Studios ever decelerate? (Ought to it?) Marvel After greater than a decade of flicks, TV exhibits, shorts, and post-credits scenes, there’s quite a bit to work by means of within the MCU. Editors’ word, 2019: We’re within the Endgame now. Try our review, sister web site GameSpot’s and more, and preserve scrolling for extra on the state of the MCU. Beforehand, March 2019: It is lastly occurred, we have redesigned the *whole timeline.* Please proceed to pontificate within the feedback about how nice or horrible it’s! And in case you’re trying to stream some MCU movies, we can help. Suppose you have discovered a mistake? Tell us within the feedback.  So to both assist you fill within the gaps earlier than Endgame, to only watch all of the exhibits for enjoyable, and even merely attempt to impress your folks, we have created a timeline of what Marvel President Kevin Feige has now dubbed The Infinity Saga within the excellent viewing order. Or perhaps you simply care about the place Captain Marvel matches in (trace: it is not the place you assume!). The Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the complete franchise is known as, additionally generally contains linked properties reminiscent of film tie-in comics or shorts. For the graphic, we have disregarded smaller properties and caught to the large two of movies and exhibits, however there are extra goodies under. Sean Enzwiler/CNET OK, now earlier than you lash out in anger about a number of the, ahem, more moderen movies’ placement, please preserve two tremendous, mega, main issues in thoughts. MCU postcredits scenes don’t matter Severely, the mid- and postcredits scenes are nothing greater than enjoyable throwaways, or in-canon nods for fervent followers. Even Marvel itself has fairly actually rewritten older scenes with new motion pictures. Assuming Feige and different heads of Marvel Studios thought in regards to the subsequent 10, 20 and even 30 years of MCU movies proper from the beginning is a bit presumptuous and fully ignores the enjoyable some directors have said they’d with these scenes. It is insanity to assume that these movies ought to solely be watched or skilled in a single manner. Do I consider that is the easiest way to observe the franchise, sure. Will I sometime introduce family and friends utilizing this CNET Methodology? OF COURSE. However that does not imply it is best for you. My colleague Sean Keane has graciously ranked all of the MCU postcredits scenes for you (but when it might be useful, perhaps we are able to additionally develop a timeline of which to observe and when). I am unable to say it sufficient instances for first-time viewers: Ignore all of the postcredits scenes (simply watch the enjoyable ones your folks inform you to). Particularly when watching on this order, don’t watch the Ant-Man and the Wasp credit scenes or you’ll be very confused. And as to your subsequent large query… Marvel Studios, composite by Chelsea Shi/CNET Captain Marvel doesn’t belong in chronological order No actually, hear me out! Captain Marvel is the primary true origin story (as in, she wasn’t seen in a Marvel film beforehand) since 2016’s Doctor Strange, however the movie additionally provides followers a brand new take a look at Brokers Nick Fury and Phil Coulson, in addition to the Tesseract. Should you had been following a chronological watch order to your first viewing ever of those MCU movies, you’d have So Many Questions watching the film proper after Captain America’s first outing. Within the movie, Vers takes years to find her true id, and by ready to observe her story with the context and nuance of 18 prior movies you give your self a deal with. It is extra enjoyable to bask within the enjoyable of quite a few in-jokes, “A-ha!” moments and Fury backstory you probably would not have cared about 17 motion pictures in the past. On this order, Captain Marvel is the deal with you get earlier than the Infinity Warfare-prequel that’s Thor: Ragnarok. Regardless of what order you find yourself experiencing these motion pictures in, it’s best to save your self a couple of hours and undoubtedly nonetheless word that The Incredible Hulk is certainly nonetheless skippable and even William Hurt (“Thunderbolt” Ross himself) admitted it. Speaking to IGN in 2015, Hurt said that “[Ross in Civil War] is completely different as a result of it is a completely different fashion… And what they’ve carried out is that they’ve taken a personality who was the Ross from the older movie and made a brand new model. This can be a a lot newer Ross. A a lot completely different Ross.” After watching each, we are able to affirm that is certainly the case. You will additionally discover that shorts and the Marvel One-Shots are lacking from the graphic. These temporary movies had been initially created as standalone tales to offer backstory for characters or issues seen within the motion pictures, with two of them later changing into full-fledged exhibits. Marvel One-Photographs Title, launch date Takes place… The Guide (Sept. 2011) On the finish of Iron Man 2 A Humorous Factor Occurred on the Approach to Thor’s Hammer (Oct. 2011) Instantly earlier than Thor Merchandise 47 (Sept. 2012) Instantly following the Battle of New York in Avengers Agent Carter (Aug. 2013) One yr after Captain America: The First Avenger; earlier than Agent Carter All Hail the King (Feb. 2014) Roughly two years after Iron Man 3; earlier than Brokers of S.H.I.E.L.D. Marvel Webisodes Extra continuity within the MCU There’s undoubtedly some continuity strangeness when you’ve each motion pictures and tv present properties, and people listed on the graphic aren’t any exception. Season 1 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. noticed the discharge of two Marvel motion pictures and needed to deal with incorporating these plots. Airing after the discharge of Thor: The Dark World, episode eight of S.H.I.E.L.D. undoubtedly takes place straight after these occasions. Physician Unusual undoubtedly doesn’t happen earlier than Winter Soldier, completely not. Marvel Later in that season, episode 16 aired the identical weekend as the discharge of Captain America: Winter Soldier and, in a neat little bit of continuity, the occasions portrayed on S.H.I.E.L.D. happen at virtually the identical time because the movie. (Some folks say episode 16 comes earlier than Winter Soldier, and you’ll definitely deal with it as such. The *absolute* finest strategy to watch them can be concurrently, however I’ve but to see anybody make that fan edit.) Netflix’s Daredevil and Jessica Jones even have wibbly-wobbly timelines. Early within the sequence, the Battle of New York is referenced to as The Incident, and it is mentioned that it occurred about two years prior. However due to the present’s lack of interplay with any big-screen Marvel characters, it might happen virtually anyplace on the timeline between Thor: A Darkish World and Avengers: Age of Ultron. In our timeline, we positioned it concurrent with the second season of S.H.I.E.L.D. in order to remain nearer to the time it was really launched. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is increased up than you could have anticipated — that is due to the variety of years the movie says have handed, that means it takes place only a few months after the primary movie. Some say that Physician Unusual ought to come earlier than Winter Soldier, due to a sure rooftop scene. A rabbit gap one IGN editor has already gone done and debunked. So Unusual stays the place it’s. (However with time manipulation up for grabs now, who actually is aware of??) A frequent query in regards to the timeline is why Captain America: TFA is first. That is all simply my opinion, however I believe watching Steve Rogers develop up first, adopted by seeing Agent Carter’s story, is an effective way to start an MCU foray. There is a case to be made that he’s a very powerful Avenger, and whether or not you agree with that or not, it is value it to leap in with him first. As for the second most-asked query: No, Iron Man 2 should not come earlier than Unimaginable Hulk due to the brief, The Guide. That brief was launched a lot in a while the Thor DVD in an attempt to simply backfill the storyline. I am 100 p.c going to say that if something ought to transfer, it is the timing of if you watch that brief — perhaps put it after Iron Man 2 as a substitute and that may assist. Yeah, I will make that change on the one-shot checklist, that ought to assist. Past the Infinity Saga Years in the past, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told me range is essential to Marvel: “You take a look at any of our movies and so they’ve been very various,” he mentioned. “We really feel like we’re simply doing justice to the books by representing that totally.” After Black Panther and Captain Marvel‘s performances on the field workplace, all bets are off for the way forward for the MCU. Their record-breaking, record-setting origin tales broke all of the superhero story guidelines — and this is hoping Marvel continues to take action. Trying forward previous Endgame, the one movie we all know is for certain coming is that this summer time’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. We do, nonetheless, have a complete mess of “confirmed” films, in line with Deadline, THR and extra. In-production and rumored upcoming movies for the subsequent Part/Saga of MCU embody:  Marvel on Netflix, and the Disney Plus future  Netflix’s Marvel exhibits nonetheless rule outdoors the theaters. ABC tried to leap again into the sport with Inhumans however poor rankings imply any whisper of a second season is fortunately absent. S.H.I.E.L.D. has a brand new season set to premiere after Endgame, however no teaser or phrase but on the way it’ll cope with… a number of deaths (spoilers). New Marvel exhibits at the moment are fairly constantly popping up, however just some are inside the MCU canon. Cloak and Dagger’s second season begins in Could on Freeform, whereas Marvel’s New Warriors is theoretically nonetheless floating round someplace? In Nov. 2017, THR revealed the present was being shopped to networks, however no phrase but on the place it’s going to find yourself (perhaps Disney Plus?). We not too long ago discovered Marvel’s Runaways on Hulu will return for a 3rd season, however the identical can’t be mentioned for the Marvel-Netflix properties. Regardless of vital popularity of a number of the exhibits, the entire Netflix originals have been canceled.  Will they ever return? By no means say by no means, however possibilities appear slim. As an alternative, hope for a brand new reincarnation of the characters on the upcoming Disney Plus streaming service. The expansion of the Marvel universe is extraordinary (har-har) and because the comics large introduces new followers to new characters (some folks had no thought who Physician Unusual was a few years in the past) and companions with cable tv and Netflix to broaden even additional, we might see some fairly epic pairings, groups and characters come out of the woodwork. Which characters would you wish to see in Marvel’s not-yet-announced-but-certainly-inevitable subsequent phases on each the small and large display? Tell us within the feedback. This piece first revealed in 2015, and is now on its 47th revision (roughly). Source link

Endgame *spoilers*
I’m so grateful for the existance of AO3 and other sites featuring fanfiction and fanworks in general, NOT BECAUSE I’M MAD AT ENDGAME, not by a long shot, but because while Endgame was the grand finale to the Avengers’ arc of the MCU, there are hundreds of other paths the story could’ve taken (not ever on the big screen, of course) that people online can work into beautiful, compelling stories (or just ridiculous ones for fanservice). Here’s my take on the film and a list of questions I have now that it’s over. Tagged as such but this post contains HELLA FUCKING SPOILERS.
I held it together better in this one than I did with Infinity War; I came very damn close to crying when the portals opened and the battle royale ensued. It was everything I wanted from the final battle sequence. Everything.
I did cry when Pepper said 'we're gonna be okay.' Letting Tony go, letting what he did finally be enough for the world, got me everywhere at once. Tony Stark has always been my favorite MCU character (Team Iron Man, Tony Stark Defense Squad, I'm here for it all). I do understand why he had to, and this is a super fitting end for his story, it just irks me that he was taken away from the happiness he'd finally built for himself and Pepper, taken away from his baby, and then died before ever seeing her again. He knew he was going to the second he signed up for the time-travel game, and though I'm sure the guilt over not being able to stop Thanos on Titan never left him, he didn't deserve to lose what he'd gained.
I really didn't like that Thor's depression-induced weight gain was played for laughs; it made me think of how the theater reacted to Giant Dwarf Peter Dinklage in the last movie, it was just uncomfortable.
Tony's canon appreciation of Cap's ass was very on point. Marvel tossed in a lot of 'fanservice' scenes, but they didn't feel tone deaf in this film; they were all things we could actually, unironically enjoy. Tony instructing Scott to give him a heart attack in 2012? Classic. Loki transforming into Cap before getting muzzled? Callback to Thor 2's best scene. Fabulous.
It was really an interesting choice to keep the Hulk big and green through the whole movie; interesting and expensive. My friend-who strongly disliked Hulk as a character every time he showed up-said this was her favorite portrayal of Hulk by far. It didn't do much for me, it wasn't the worst choice they could've made, but I do enjoy some good ol' non-green Dr. Banner.
I wish Peter Quill hadn't gotten more or less shit on all three times he showed up; Rhodey calling him an idiot during his iconic introduction and then knocking his ass out, past-Gamora kicking him in the balls (I get it, even though Nebula told her who he was it's probably weird asf for her), and then Thor press-ganging his way into the Milano. Like, come on, let my boy be for a few minutes!
I'm glad Gamora wasn't a perma-death (I couldn't imagine her staying dead) but she lost ALL her character development from Guardians 1 and 2 and from Infinity War as well. I figure the plot of Guardians 3 will revolve the return (?) of her memories (or something along those lines? They aren't exactly her memories anymore since she didn't experience them).
Nat's final scene with Clint was beautiful, I don't care what anyone else says, and I stand by it as a final catharsis of the Black Widow's storyline; she spent her entire life (every movie we saw) fighting to do good to counteract all the harm she ever caused in her life.
Like I said, I understand, narratively and also the real life reasons, why Tony had to die. I just wish he didn't. His death brings up the rear of the now-four permanent deaths following the finale movies; Loki, Vision, Natasha, and Tony. Steve isn't dead, but he's an old man and effectively we all know that scene by the lake will be the last time anyone sees him on screen (except flashbacks, of course, and midquel-type scenarios).
I also don't think we'll get any more Captain America films with Sam as the new Cap; I think the Iron Man and Captain America film series', like the Avengers series, are finished. I did just find out, to my surprise, that there will be a Falcon and Winter Soldier movie, confirmed along with Guardians 3, Black Panther 2, Black Widow, Dr. Strange 2, and the two TV spinoffs for Scarlet Witch and Loki. There's also internet talk of something starring Hawkeye, and though I think the Thor movie series is finished as well, he may very well be present in Guardians 3 (just please don't steal the entire film, Hemsworth).
QUESTIONS I HAVE Will Morgan Stark inherit the Iron Man (Girl? Woman??) title? Will she somehow take the persona to another level in the future?
Why could some characters just hold Infinity Stones in their hands like it was nothing? Bruce held the Time Stone (because he's the Hulk?) and Clint the Soul Stone (because he was part of the sacrifice ritual?)?
Loki 'yeeting' himself the fuck out of captivity with the Tessaract? Where the hell is he going??
How did they get Natalie Portman back for tiny cameo scenes? Was it even her or was there just a chunk of editing devoted to it?
Where did Valkyrie get another winged horse?
Another Peter Quill thought...could he have done the snap and survived it? I know Ego is dead, but he was able to hold the Power Stone for a good minute or two and even longer with help; how would the gauntlet have impacted things?
I've been wondering this since before Infinity War and it's been hotly debated all across the web, but of the previously-defeated villains, who would've stacked up best against Thanos? Could Ronan have taken him down if left unchecked? What about Dormamu from Dr. Strange? Ultron? What about the literal deities Surtur, Hela, and Odin? Could they have taken Thanos down at his full power? Could Ego, a literal celestial?
