These were originally gonna be private but I like the outfits so much I'm posting them here.

Since the Likes Espio gang is going to Chun-nan in the fic I decided to give them some new good ol' fashioned cultural fits.

By the way, get ready for a history tangent :)

So this is a shenyi, a type of moderately formal Hanfu robe popular during the Warring States period. It is known as 'deep garment' in English, which translates to 'wrapping the body deep in cloth'. Up until the Han Dynasty, the shenyi would be form by royal families, aristocrats, etc. Although more common among women who wanted to hide their bodies while they walked. It lost it's popularity throughout history but reappeared in 2003 when a man wore a raojinshenyi in the streets.

Then ruqun, or more broadly, the yichang, is a set of Hanfu attire consisting of an upper garment(usually a short jacket) and a lower garment(a long skirt). It is the most common of Hanfu, worn mostly by women but also by men as well. The ruqun, along with it's varieties, have been and established part of Chinese culture for thousands of years as the two-piece garments symbolized the greater order of Heaven and Earth.

The cheongsam is a more modern form of Chinese attire, also know as a qipao dress. It was developed in the 1920s and overlapped with the Republican Era, popularized by the socialites and high society women of Shanghai(fitting for someone like Dinah). It's a form-fitting dress that was originally inspired by Manchu traditional clothing called the qizhuang.

Another piece of modern Chinese clothing, the male counterpart of the cheongsam. The zhongshan suit, also know as the Mao suit, is a tunic suit introduced shortly after the founding of the Republic of China in 1912. It typically has four pockets and five buttons(I didn't actually draw five buttons, sorry!), the pockets representing the Four Virtues of proprierty, justice, honesty, and shame; the five buttons symbolizing the five branches of China's former government, those being Executive, Legislative, Judicial, Examination, and Control. It's typically worn by men or government leaders as a symbol of national sovereignty.

The aoqun is a variety of the ruqun, a specific way of wearing the ao(short jacket) over the qun(skirt). While the classic ruqun has it's jacket tucked into the skirt(ru is often used as synonymous to ao), the aoqun has it's jacket worn over the skirt. Although since the ao is defined by the Xinhua Dictionary as 'an upper garment with multiple layers', it is often worn during the cold seasons.

saddest thing ever is when sonic games or art or whatever have a bunch of the characters there but still only have vector and not espio or charmy

#examples: team sonic racing. the 2021 sonic channel art that was all sonic interacting with different characters #the 2023 sonic channel art that had a bunch of different pairs of characters #2023 feels way more inexcusable than 2021 though because in 2023 theres no requirement of ''sonic has to be there'' #which gives them double the amount of chances to put espio or charmy in somewhere . but they didnt #instead they kept repeating characters in the second half . sad #well aside from silver and blaze all of the repeat characters only appeared as options on polls and didnt make it to the actual art #but considering how often theyve been doing it. the repeat characters are still taking chances #that could have been given to characters that havent gotten art this year yet #i say all this even though theres still one more art that hasnt even gotten a poll yet . well im just assuming its gonna be eggman tbh #sonic boom tv show is also an example of vector without espio or charmy #but it doesnt quite fit what i was describing of like the whole point being that the whole gang is here

reasonings for a couple down here:

Eat n' Run definitely sounds like Sonic

"Future-proof" with "Egg" tarts is confusing. My main guess is Eggman but Silver/Nega aren't off the table

"Perfect Note" could, as @birdsareblooming mentioned to me, be a reference to Tails Music Maker. Other than that, Vector's the main musician of the gang

"Eat Red Spheres" is def a reference to classic gameplay

"Tornado" Chips is very likely for Tails's plane

"Royal" Roasted Pinwheels, huh? Blaze.

"My Daily Respite" is also very vague. Could be Eggman?

"Burrito Blasts" could really be anyone, considering we all blast a lot. Shadow's probably the most likely with his usage of chaos blast.

"Luxurious Light Fare" – Luxurious sounds like a word Rouge would use. Other than that, I got nothin

"Island's" Bounty Salad seems like an Angel Island thing

NO idea what "Sumptuous Salad" could be. Maybe Eggman?

"A Simple Deduction" is either Eggman or Tails, they're the only ones who talk like that

"Leaf Swirl Salad" could be Sonic swirling up leaves as he runs, or something Big or Sticks eat in the woods

"Bangle Bagels"– Amy's bracelets could be considered bangles? My main guess is Rouge because her main thing is Jewelry. Bangles are also v popular in south asia so it could be Blaze, but I've never seen her wear any.

"Unlimited Potential" is a chaos emerald thing, right?

"Simple Pleasures" sounds very Big, but I could also see Knux or Espio

"When a Flatfoot's Flat Broke"– "Flatfoot" is a term for a detective or cop, and well. Vector be broke

Anything with "Ninja" in the title is probably Espio

"West Side Island" Sandwich is prob Tails

The "Rival's" Chili Dog is def Shadow being annoying <3

"Villain" Sub and Perfect "Egg"dog being next to each other is interesting; it's possible they'll have two of the same character in a row but maybe we'll have another villain?

"Catch o' the Day" is def Big

"The Master Meal Plan" sounds like Master Emerald, so Knux

"The Garlic Collector" – I put Rouge for "collector" but I SWEAR that title is a reference to some old mystery novel?? I just can't put my finger on which. So it could be Chaotix if that's the case

"Tangled Leads" could be Tangle buuuuuut it's more likely to be Vector with the "Mystery" angle

"Hidden Truth" is also a mystery angle but the usage of "hidden" seems like they'll use Espio

"Timeless" Comfort Food makes me emotional like ok Silver

Blaze's kingdom is ocean-based so she's def the "Sea-Born Monarch"

"Seven Rings in Hand" def references Sonic and the Secret Rings. Whether it's Sonic himself or Shahra in here...

The "Family Cookie Recipe" and "Mother's Specialty" both sound very much like Cream. But again, two in a row? Family cookie could also be Robotnik fam maybe? And mother's specialty could be Rouge's unseen mom?

"Colorful Companions" seems to be a ref to Sonic Colors and the wisps

"Caffeine Control" is this one isn't just "eat the coffee beans directly" then what is the point

"Diamonds in the Sky" couuuuld be Rouge cause gem ref but that's DEFINITELY a ref to Sonic R

Chaotix Origin Headcanons

More headcanons! Just dumping some Chaotix origins brain rot while I try to get back to writing. For context, Espio and Charmy are from the same continent while Vector was foreign. Espio's origins can be found here if you want to know more!

Charmy was only a couple months old when Eggman’s attack on the continent completely destroyed The Golden Hive Colony, leaving him as the only survivor. He was found by Vector and Espio when they came upon the ruins.

Around this time, Charmy's stinger was still growing and he was already starting to fly - albeit super uncoordinated and disorganized in his trajectory. Ironically, this accidentally saved Vector and Espio when they were in a dangerous situation.

Dragon Island took heavy damage from Eggman's attack but the people barely managed to save it since ninjas are adept at surviving harsh circumstances.

Of course these were robots and not natural disasters, so the losses were still pretty heavy. Many ninja clans were wiped out while the surviving ones scattered. The carnage from the clan wars and the subsequent Eggman attack prompted some remaining elder Ninjas to unite and abolish the clan system.

They built a new dojo so they could continue passing on the art of Ninjutsu to anyone worthy and the remaining civilians could live simple lives. The land is also closed off to outsiders. Nonresident mobians may be watched closely, but any humans will be attacked on sight.

Espio's mother and the remaining Shinobi clan survived. When the circumstances got bad, she realized they were on the verge of being wiped out, so to survive, she took whatever was left of her people and disappeared.

They live like regular civilians, but still continue their work throughout the continent. They pretty much operate like an underworld gang and are one of the most powerful spy networks. People know who they are and what they’re capable of, but where they are? What they might do next, who knows.

No one knows much about their leader, either. There’s no record of her name, but what is well known is her title: The Bride of Constant Vigil.

I keep imagining fully animated scenes, like, I dunno, Knuckles complaining about losing to Vector and then it cuts to Sonic just there in the Family Guy death pose for a few seconds.

Espio reciting a poem — Sonic on the floor.

The heist gang panicking about the ticking egg — the robot arms sweeping the mess around Sonic with a broom.

Amy gushing about the Hot Honey tickets — elevator music in the dining car (the train thought some ambiance would be nice), Sonic is still just laying there.

This shouldn't be as funny to me as it is.

I still like the idea of Silver and Espio going to someplace like a bar together and then having the night (predictably) end with Silver getting into a fight... Lately though I've been thinking to myself about how it'd be funnier if they were to actually go there with some other friends as well (mayhaps like a "double date" thing? idrk) and even those friends aren't enough to hold back Silver when he's fucking fuming and out for blood

I have discussed this with three people so far and the general conclusion is "He absolutely would", haha. Potential reasons why he got into a fight that we came up with were:

Espio got insulted by someone (specifically his heart chest, which left me REELING)

Espio got flirted at by someone

Gang stuff is happening and Silver just managed to get involved

Silver couldn't provide a valid ID card and threw hands with the person asking him about it

And so on and so forth. But Silver is absolutely the kind of person who I can see caught in in a bar fight instigated by someone saying or doing something unfortunate, and him being all over it immediately. Especially when aimed at Espio, his temper is easily riled up! But if there's other friends there as well, I can foresee the chaos be even bigger. Nobody will be able to stop Silver if he's plotting to fight someone; the best they can do is just drag him out before things go out of hand too much. In that regard, having more people there is absolutely a blessing, because they can distract him and the people he's brawling with while Espio just throws him through the door to make a tactical escape. Silver probably isn't too badly injured, but rest assured he's going to get an earful from Espio about it! And for future double dates, everyone involved minus Silver goes to brainstorm a location wherein this is less likely to happen again. Maybe something peaceful like having a picnic at the park or such? Surely there's plenty of fun things to do in Sonic's world!

... I want Amy to appear in the Sonic 3 movie for a variety of reasons. But if she DOES appear, I think they should give her an outfit that resembled her Original Design and one that resembles her current designs (I combined her main outfit in Prime and her outfit from Boom with some artistic liberties).

How I think she'd work in the movie (I may have been on a sonic kick for like 2 weeks and JUST WATCHED Sonic 2). If they bring back Eggman, he got zapped to the boys' (Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails) Original Homeworld, and started wreaking havoc. Amy uses a ring she has to teleport to Earth in a last-ditch effort, conveniently landing in Green Hills, probably during an equally as convenient family outing.

Sonic and the Gang see someone falling out from the portal. Sonic quickly runs and catches Amy. They take her home and when she wakes up she's freaked out because Tom and Maddie are the same species as Eggman. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles calm her down and explain most humans are harmless or even good.

If Eggman isn't involved... I don't know maybe Amy had heard about Sonic from Tails or something... I dunno. Anyway, she ends up on Earth.

But Sonic's kind of floored there's another Hedgehog like him, and it's a girl! Even if there are no feelings or just Amy likes Sonic or both like each other, I think Tom and Maddie would think there's something there and be trying to tease Sonic, I mean they probably never thought Sonic would be able to find somebody, being the only talking hedgehog and all.

The group all seems to get along. Until Shadow does some Shadow shit and fucks everything up because that's how he's always introduced.

If they follow the usual Shadow intro, if they make it night Amy confuses him for Sonic.

Thus all the key players in the Movie are set.

Other than like a Mini-Romance plot (either played for Comedy or seriously) I honestly could see Amy getting adopted by another family in Green Hill's or even taken in by Maddie's sister or something.

I think Maddie would probably like dressing her up though.

Personally, when I think of Key Sonic Franchise members that appear in almost everything it's Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, and Eggman. These days. Usually, Rouge has been included, with Characters like Big (and Froggy), Sticks, Cream (and CHeese), Vector, Espio, and Charmy, in a rotating cast. They appear when they need to but are usually extras (either in a game or show).

I think if Amy is going to show up, she'll show up in the Knuckles Spin Off Paramount's apparently making, or the third Sonic Movie, because unless they take the gang back to Mobius (usually the name of Sonic's original homeworld) there's not much that can be done with a story with her.

I mean if you use the old COMIC's and extended Media there's a bit... But off her modern interpretation? I couldn't really see them doing a WHOLE Sonic 4 Movie revolving around Amy. I mean They could make a fourth movie with a different plot and Amy could show up... But... I dunno... If your going to round out the cast with the third Movie then I think she should show up then.

Had the coolest dream

So Apperently Toriel and Asgore were like big time bosses (mafia or gang leaders idk)

But Toriel ends up leaving this life and we see her take her kid as she goes on tje frivilous escape journey from her past life.

And for some reason my brain went "And Silver t. Hedgehog is Toriels kid" (instrad of like asriel 😅)

And also, Blaze the cat ends up being the body gaurd for both of them. (Toriel and Blaze fire powers? Cool)

For some reason, Espio is on a paid mission to assisnate Silver (and possibly the queen)

And like damn. His sequences are really cool. For somereason he looks like a purple chameleon with like.. black, shadowy splotches- and like what feels like dreads? And a long black coat.

Also also, hes still a ninja, but for context- hes under the leigon of the shadow lady (shes also super cool. I think she was human like but also purple and at somepoint she was spiderlike with multiple arms and.. it was a cool fight) so hes also partly doing this for revenge on Silver-

Cause Silver t.hedgehog actually went around kiling this big bosses like undertale style/demon slayer style. I think there was a bog guy, but the purple shadow spider lady was the only one i currently remember the most.

Eventually though, I think after some like epic fight event where Silver gets cornered, Espio comes in and like saves him by killing all the goons in the arena in a cool, ninja way.

And so when he comes to the escape train in the jungle (which is the little train Silver, Toriel and Blaze are on. Its not even a "train" its more like those little carts that push you along a traintrack when you work it. Except they didnt have to work it to get it to move.)

Blaze tried to fight him, but Silver was like "bah hes a freind!" And so shes wary of him.

And then he sat in the cart all fustrated and just does exposition on who he is and i get a good look on how he looks like.

Then my dream ends! Whomp whomp

I’m watching Disney’s Pirate Fairy movie, and it just reminded me how OBSESSED I was over the knowledge of Pixie Dust and things getting swapped. So that got me thinking, what would the Hazbin gang/the Sins/my witches/the Sonic gang would be like in that situation? Whose ability would be switched with who? Who caused this problem? How would this type of idea work? So thinking it over, I would think my Chaos Witches would be a perfect fit for this. So now:

two parts

1. Part One: Build up

Sonic just gets back from hanging out with Blaze in her dimension, finds out that time in her dimension doesn’t work the same as his. he thinks he’s been gone a week, when he’s actually been gone seven weeks

Eggman’s learned from the past (sonic forces + sonic chronciles) and just starts going full fucking satam: he takes over the world and starts roboticizing people left and right

Not knowing about this new technology, until too many have been roboticised, the Resitance dwindles until Tails and Silver are left

Tails is on the brink of being able to break people from the programming, freeing their will, but hasn’t figured out a way to free them from the actual robot shell

Sonic unleashed type format, where they travel around the world and fight seven characters, who each have or are near a chaos emerald: amy, Cream, rouge, Espio, vector, Charmy, shadow

Then there’s three final battles:

1) knuckles- they defeat him and try to use the master emerald to destroy the roboticizer

2) Eggman. yeah yeah big bad battle with him etc

3) Eggman AGAIN they think they defeated him but he pulls a trick a la sonic unleashed and captures sonic and the emerald, revealing that was his master plan all along

He knew sonic & the gang would collect them and bring them all back to his lair. he reveals he has a second, much larger roboticizer, and using the master emerald, the chaos emerald, and sonic as the medium, eggman will roboticize the entire planet

sonic is like. ;) this is fine but actually he’s real fucking nervous. he tries to turn super and in his efforts he unlocks a new form, even stronger than hyper sonic, that lets him decimate Eggman’s machine and base, and gives him the ability to warp reality by freeing people from their robot form

literally just rewrites reality so they’re back to being flesh

everyone’s a little freaked by this but like. okay. i guess this is fine.

Eggman gets carted off into gun custody and tails has to convince sonic to get out of his super form

2. Part Two: Apocalypse

Sonic’s new form. nuts. But whatever no one really thinks about it

until sonic starts itching to collect all the emeralds and starts to act really really weird

tails helps sonic collect all the emeralds. fun bonding time :) except Sonic’s acting REALLY REALLY WEIRD but it’s fine :)

meanwhile knuckles and shade are fucking FREAKED by Sonic’s new form and decide to do some research :) so they start looking into all the ruins and the hidden palace and try to decode the ancient echidna language from behind

and then they learn oh SHIT the echidna prophesied that the mural in hidden palace… Was Sonic Trying To End The Fucking World

UH OH!!!!

also they learn a whole bunch of lore about the chaos force etc but whatever.

anyway shadows also super fucking freaked by the incident and starts digging through Gerald’s diaries

turns out gerald was able to eventually decipher the echidna language as well and figure out that cool hero he tried to base his ultimate lifeform off of was uh. uh. maybe not the hero

shadows miffed he’s based off sonic but he gets over it quick BECAUSE HELLO SONICS GONNA DESTROY THE WORLD

anyway sonic’s busy trying to figure out what the HELL is going on with him.

they gather all the emeralds together right before knuckles/shade and shadow arrive to stop them. sonic goes super again but this time it’s even worse.

they manage to get him out of that super form but Sonic’s not really WITH them and goes off to find them again

it’s a real big game of keep away with the emeralds after that

they drag Eggman out of gun to help them figure out what to do and he’s just like. hm. kill the bitch

NO ONE likes that answer so they keep trying to find better solutions

silver reveals that his future is destroyed by sonic, which is why no matter what he does in the past it never fixed his future. sonic ending the world is FATE. it’s a fixed point. but silvers doing his damedest to stop him.

Eggman eventually convinced tails that they have to kill him

there is a murder attempt don’t worry about it :)

sonic snaps out of the chaos forces hold enough to realize OH. hm. he might be the bad guy here. fucked up.

sonic realizes the only way to stop the world from ending and chaos reigning is to destroy all chaos energy. chaos can only destroy chaos so he turns all of the emeralds on each other and uses the energy to destroy itself. sonic destroys all the chaos energy but it also kills himself in the process

sonic fades from reality and everyone’s just left standing there in the aftermath :)

they saved the city !!!!!! *everything’s still on fire and Sonic’s FUCKING DEAD*
