Charlie Redesign🍎

Made my own take on Charlie for Fun! There’s so much I LOVE with Charlie’s look already(LOVING THAT TUX!).

Went for a mix of the old and new elements. Kept the red but added darker parts, re-added the softer ends and went for a mix of the pilots fun bouncy hair and new triple ponytail! Also added some more light pink and black like the OG had. Kept the name tag but made it gold⭐️

Pushed the doll aesthatic more, adding body and mouth lines to give off vintage doll/puppet joints. Also made her outfit more vintage aesthetic to give off a toy porcelain doll aswell as allude to a more Vaudeville vibe!

Also added in the lamb motif. I LOVE lamb/doll Charlie! Added cute lil ears, horns, heart shaped nose and though it’s hard to tell at this angle, the legs are meant to be a bit more bipedal🐑

Also wanted to make her look more conductor aesthatic since she’s such a musical lover 🎼 . Gave her a lined shirt, more detailed pants, cummerbund and even fingerless Tux gloves!!!!!

Made her hair curlier and more golden, like golden delicious! Was going for Pinkie Pie vibes!!!! LOVE the curls!!!!!

Kept the red but made it a deeper, more apple red🍎🍎🍎

Also added more light warm pink for a sweet vibe and to contrast with my Angels cool pinks!!!!

SHE AND ANGEL ARE BLAZER BUDDIES!!!!!!!!!

Pushed the apple motif more with the red suit and even added a cute giant apple bow for her!🍎🎀

Another reason I kept her red is because I’m going for a rainbow motif with the gang and Reds a good Color for Charlie!❤️🍎🌈LOVE THAT SONG!!!!!!

Made pupils the default!

I’ve also made a redesign for Angel🕷️🕸️

Its finally done! I've been working on this on and off for... Probably a month? This is my interpretation for the character/insert of Red in You Belong to Me by @kaitieswritingstuff! Mainly the characters main look (left), and their outfits in ch 11 and ch 29 respectively (please click for better quality).

Please go and check their work if you're into Hazbin Hotel! I gotta be honest, I was nervous about scoping out Hazbin considering all the backlash against it but I was pleasantly surprised to find how different it was. While it obviously has its flaws, I'm of the opinion that as long as you can recognize said flaws and think critically about a show then you're free to enjoy it. (Also side note: I like, never read x readers but i was like: what the hell this sound interesting and my god it was the best decision ive ever made seriously, if u plan on scoping out hazbin fic this is one i gotta recommend i just- Love It).

Initially when reading a fic and on the rare occasion its reader related, I can't picture myself and like to draw up a doodle instead and give them a name so as to better visualize them. In this case however, instead of that I decided to use an old character design for an original story that I never got far with.

(Insight into my design thought process and other information + a link to the fic below the cut, probably gonna be super long tho, you have been warned!)

So to start off with I will talk about the character Red, and the character Rosy.

That character design was an androgynous but afab robot/android esk character, their name was Rosy. Of course, being that there was already a Rosie it would get confusing or redundant quick so I decided to change them a bit.

Rosy had 2 main features before the redesign that remained throughout,

1. They had a tattoo/marking going across their cheeks/face spelling out: R.O.S.Y. given their robotic origins and their name.

2: Their hairstyle and its length. This was conflicting for me because, in the fic Red hates their hair being touch and especially yanked so was I supposed to shorten it? In the end I decided against it because it was important to Rosy's design and secondly I reasoned that, given Red's 50 plus years in hell and not being dead still growing in small pieces like nail or hair growth and that eventually they would just stop bothering to cut it or forgetting since they arguable felt safer around their allies. It also made sense that even if they hated it being grabbed they would braid it to keep it out of reach and since Nifty is also said to do their hair it is regularly taken care of.

These two important features stayed, they kept their hair and the tattoo across the face was changed from spelling R.O.S.Y. to A.M.F.M. in reference to radio stations and to associate them with Alastor.

With that outta the way lets move onto inspiration and details.

The first of the 3 is supposed to be how i envision Red most of the time. I took sometime looking into the description written and the timeframe for their clothes.

They wear a ribbon instead of a tie so as to not completely copy Alastor and at the end of their braid is a radio dial shaped bead to again, reference the radio demon.

Alastor died in the early 30s, the reader most likely hails from the late 30s/mid 40s/or at latest the early 50s. Alastor would probably like something reflective of his own era and -fun fact- the 30s suit for men at the time is very unique compared to other eras because of the cuts like high waisted pants and multiple layers.

In the fic they are described wearing a pinstriped suit but because I thought having only the pants be pinstriped looked better, I changed it. They wear popular women's leather oxfords of the time to better reflect the era.

For the chapter 11 outfit, a black/red flapper dress with a headband and gloves. I decided heavily between a historical approach or a mainstreamed one. In the end I picked historical because I think they'd find it more comfortable as it was designed to drop the hem line, appear androgynous, and be comfortable.

The dress is technically a dark purple but only to not drown the character in solid black. It has a red sash same color as the gloves, and sparkles so to keep it modern. The shear part lets the viewer see their binding mark.

They wear shoes popular during the 20s, a headband with red feathers, and red gloves unchanged from the description.

Lastly their hair style, I couldn't go historical because they had long hair to i went with it being let down but loosely contained with more silvery bands.

Finally, the outfit from chapter 29. Said to be a wide collared red shirt with rolled up sleeves, suspenders, and dark red pants.

This was post-attack so they have scars (attempting to look like wire burns) along their arms which are covered in small white gloves. Maybe they aren't as self conscious about their scars but I can see Red preferring to wear gloves because hell is a dirty place i also added a pair of men's oxfords again to keep their 30s look intact.

Their hair is less restricted and kept in a half pony but it is poofy and much more wild when not carefully contained in its usual braid. We also see more of their branding along their arms and it fading when it reaches the scars.

First off, this has been in the works for a while now so you may notice a change in quality as i finished the first of the 3 before stoping for life stuff and coming back. Secondly this project has been fun! Researching things and sneaking them in for design or somethings that didn't work out but I hold as headcanons (like the WWL Louisiana's/New Orleans first radio station being the one Alastor worked at and having it embroidered somewhere on their clothing). This has made me do a lot of first and has been kinda hard- feet and detailed shoes are not my forte nor clothing this detailed, and my first ever detailed background redrawn from a hazbin screencap and its been a learning experience. I'll never understand why WB had to redesign the Batcast for the new Bat adventures. Some characters took getting used to. But as for the villains, I'm roasting they asses cus they're ugly. Can't change my mind.

These Oswalds together look like 2 different people bruh. But we're here to talk about new Oswald. This Wimpy x Olive Oyl fusion snoody looking ass bitch. I'd like his outfit if it didn't have that lazy drawned bow tie looking like 2 triangles glued together & those fake ass MJ gloves. Also when tf did he have 10 fingers in dis universe? Also fuck that hair. Rocking a balding Mullet like ponytail before. Now it's just a boring cut down. Got dat snooty ass bitch look on face like his bird shit don't be stinking. I'll rock tf out u. Now see dis? DIS is Aight! A lot more fitting and & faithful to the character. No over the fucking top redesign, you can actually tell it's the same damn character as before, a little bit of swag for personality

So that's the tea. Ivy & Croc are the only good rogue redesigns in the whole series, evBody else ugly as shit.

ohh good question.. i don’t think or know a whole lot abt character design (tho i’d love to see other ppl who r smarter abt it talk abt it 👀) but hmm.. lets think abt this.. im prob gonna miss some things ive thought of in the past buut heres a few

id change varys and vulcans designs for obvious reasons. esp vulcan god. i guess i get what they were going for w varys trying to go w ‘american cartoon’ style thats a common character design but that doesnt make it NOT racist, esp when both main Black chars look similar like that.

i’d decide on like heights and builds to Stick With and draw them looking the same way mostly lol. galo as relatively muscular like hes drawn in official art but like 5′8 maybe (thats what he is in my head) compared to lios canon 5′2 (short kings need rep <3). and aina is taller than galo in my head at like 5′10 to 6 ft smth so i think thats a good idea :) the women r typically drawn w less extreme shoulder to waist ratios than galo and lio which i find funny and kinda transgender so id keep that in lol

and give them organs. like i know its stylization but can we get some fat on these people

top surgery scars for galo (and lio if u wanna have some explanation for how he got top surgery on the run lmao? fire surgery? or he just has tiddies) bc theyre a rly obvious easy way to make a character trans. just like, stuff like that for various characters whatever way the gender transes. if /i/ was making promare anyway. if trigger was then i dont trust like that beyond post op scars tho

i think some of the outfits aren’t rly cohesive but that’s kinda part of the charm. especially for lucias since she looks like she stole from a hot topic which fits her character. id give her baggy pants though, like, if u keep her running around in a sports bra at work, big baggy pants would b a fun contrast, like winry fma style. also why is she wearing goggles and a gas mask. im like, okay with it, you do you lucia, im just confused <3

yes galo runs around half naked but its not treated the same way aina is treated w her outfit so yeah like. outfit changes w that. if the women all wear like crop tops then so should the men. equality.

actually thats a good idea. consider galo and lios shirts (lios under the jacket) but theyre like crop tops. genius. maybe if men showed a little more skin (i say as galo dresses like That)

but yeah can we like talk about how ainas outfit makes no practical sense. neither does galos but again, difference in treatment. i like her leather jacket though!

galo would have a prosthetic arm instead of a sleeve just cuz it would b better imo <3 also other ppl have mentioned this but he would prob realistically lose his arm after getting shot w the ice gun on it

if galo has a prosthetic arm i dont mind kray having one too honestly since both the hero and villain do, BUT i still think making kray b a disabled villain was shitty so

heris and remi have kind of boring basic designs to me but since i think thats like.. intentional maybe? its like. Fine. neither of them deserve cool designs.

there was one version of lios design where he had an off the shoulder shirt and a corset and im not like saying he should wear that bc it isnt rly practical but at the same time. what a look

honestly idk i mostly like the character designs beyond just some things to change up a bit! i like what they did with like the mix of anime and the american cartoon palettes they were going for. theres probably some things im forgetting, but just in general i dont RLY want to change anything, bc i think the designs of galo and lio in particular are pretty good and they look good together. one time i saw someone say they were gonna redesign galo to make him look not boring and then he looked like an asshole and i was upset -_- he is perfect leave my man alone
