The curse of being so knowledgeable on older animes is going to suck irl for as long as I live where I am-which is probably permanent rip-because man I wish it was possible from a education stand point for people to learn about the history of it. but the issue with that is “even if anime popular it’s not apart hugely apart of our culture when it comes to how it was made and you can’t really show off most older works because they are long as fuck in a school that no student could reasonably stay on top of it” so this is never happening ever.

A loud set of screams interrupts your quiet time in your first-floor apartment, startling you.

Looking outside your window, you see people running away from something, including some of those who’ve bullied you for your autism. (which is a bit satisfying to see, you won’t lie)

“What’s going on?” you wonder aloud.

That’s what you see them, following the scared crowd; it’s a figure decked out in a dark red outfit.

“That’s what everyone’s afraid of?” You’re confused as fuck, so you decide to go outside to check out the scene. As you get closer, you can make out the figure more clearly; a woman with long hair that seems to be made of fire. Her hands are glowing with a scarlet aura. It’s....actually a bit relaxing to look at and you find yourself entranced by its smooth movements; it’s like it’s performing a ballet. Slowly you find yourself getting closer, staying fixated on the aura.

“Wow....” you gasp as you approach her hand.

“What are you doing?”

A voice nearby snaps you from your trance. You look up to see the woman with a hardened expression.

“Sorry,” you say sheepishly. “I was just fixated on that glow in your hand. It’s beautiful, and honestly kinda calming as well.”

The hardened expression softens a bit.

“....You’re not running from me,” she notes.

“Why would I be?” you ask. “You don’t scare me.”

Her expression turns back to stone and her head tilts.

“Is that a challenge?” An Eastern European accent appears in her voice.

“No,” you say matter-of-factly. “I just don’t feel afraid of you. You’re not causing any trouble, you’re just....here existing.”

The tilt retracts and her anger turns into a mixture of confusion and fascination.

“You’re a very odd girl,” she notes.

You shrug.

“Comes with the ‘tisms.”

“The what?”

“Oh, I’m autistic. My mind is.....well, it’s different from other people’s brains.”

“I see....”

“Yep,” you nod. “Kinda got bullied and isolated for it. A lot. Still do. I....basically have no friends.”

“Why would they bully you?”

You shrug.

“I guess they’re afraid of what they don’t understand, you know?”

At that moment, her expression softens almost completely.

“Yes.....” she says quietly. “I do know....”

In her mind, something switches. Here you are, a fellow misunderstood soul, with not even a single companion. Someone who’s not afraid of her, someone who didn’t immediately run when you saw her, but rather....you were fascinated by her. She can’t remember the last time she’s met someone who didn’t fear her or treat her like a criminal.

“You’re really pretty too, you know.” Your compliment both jolts her from her thoughts and solidifies her decision. There’s no way she’s leaving you here. Her heart is pounding furiously and she comes up with an idea.

“Would you like to see some more of my aura?” she asks.

You nod eagerly.

“Please? Those screams I heard earlier kinda stressed me out.”

She gives a smile and moves her hands to conjure more in front of your face. Her hand movements begin to fascinate you as well.

“Holy shit, that’s beautiful,” you whisper, your eyes widening in awe. “It’s like your fingers are dancing.”

You begin to find yourself hyperfixating on the magic and on her hands, just as she hoped you would. Soft whispers invade your mind, but you’re unable to make out what they’re saying, nor do you really care about what they’re saying. Slowly your eyes gloss over as the hands and magic play over and over again in your mind.

You almost fall down on the road, but the Scarlet Witch catches you and sweeps you up bridal style, holding you close and protectively.

“Sweet, sweet girl....my sweet, sweet girl,” she whispers as she flies away with you.

Jack:

Jack hums! Usually just a simple, repetitive tune or a single note if he's not paying attention. When he's really happy, he'll typically just have a low droning hum going in the back of his throat constantly. He also bounces in place, especially when he's excited or otherwise full of energy. He keeps it to a minimum if his bouncing would cause problems (like jostling someone in his lap), but he's a bouncy boy!

Ian:

Taptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptap Ian's a tappy boy!!! All four fingers pressed together, tapping his fingertips on anything nearby all at once. If he's particularly overwhelmed (good or bad), it turns into patting with his whole hand. He also pops very quietly when he needs to stim. Just gently pressing his lips together and making a soft little popping sound that's easy to miss if it's not silent in the room.

Shaun:

Well, I mean, the obvious one for Shaun is purring. He doesn't have the requisite biology to actually purr, but he'll make a low grumbly sound in the back of his throat while he essentially kneads/makes biscuits on whatever soft thing is nearby. He also clicks his tongue quite loudly whenever things get too quiet or he needs to focus, it's his go-to stim when his brain needs a sound in the background.

Nick:

Nick's necklaces? Stim necklaces. Same with his bracelets. All of his jewellery is in some way stimmy for him. Whether it's just dragging the lock over the chain it's on to feel the way it vibrates or spinning the beads on his bracelet. He's a very fidgety stimmer, so he also keeps at least one fidget toy in his pocket at all times. Just anything that can keep his hands occupied and has a good sensation to it.

Joseph:

Joseph's got the typical delinquent stims. Bouncing his legs and drumming on everything. Whether it's patting a beat on his thighs or using his fingers to drum on the edge of a table, that's his go-to stim. And whenever he needs to sit for long periods of time, his legs are going to end up bouncing. His big nervous stim that he's been trying to kick forever is biting his nails. He'll bite them to the quick.

Jean:

Jean was heavily forced to mask as a child, so he doesn't stim much. But when he's standing and needs to stim, he'll often go en pointe or go through the basic ballet foot positions (or full positions, if he's alone). Generally, he only stims when he's nervous or excited because those are the only times he can't stop himself from unmasking. But yeah, generally ballet feet is his thing because it's easy to hide.

Rory:

Hair twirling! Rory stims by twirling his hair and rubbing the tips of his hair against his thumb. Something about the slightly spiky feeling of it is a great stim for him. He also tends to knock his feet together gently, just bouncing them off each other a bit. He's also really big on auditory stims, so he'll tap or crinkle things to hear the sound they make. When something makes a good sound, he'll keep it!

probably the funniest part of Pahkitew for me, along with Max's EVILLLL schemes! She'll just say the most out of pocket weird shit and then move on it's great. She's super mischeavious and is just a menace all season. Amazing.

Her perspective is also so so interesting. Since she was raised in pageants she treats TD like one and it informs her relationships with most of the other contestants - her throaway line about Topher being a suck-up, being willing to bend the rules to get by and driving a wedge between her and Sky, hell her entire dynamic and relationship with Ella's driven by that!

She thinks Ella's full of shit and just manipulating people but no that's just how Ella is! But how would Sugar know? This is a competition. Why be nice and innocent and play by the rules if you're not just gonna use that goodwill to backstab your opponents into the dirt afterwards? It's kind of tragic they never did hit it off, Ella was really desperate to befriend Sugar and it just. Didn't work out. Sad.

I didn't wanna end this post on a bad note, but i feel the need to mention that im a little uncomfortable with what she was based on. At least when other TD characters were based on things that weren't tropes they were fictional characters (you cannot tell me Harold and Heather weren't based on Napoleon Dynamite and Heathers/Mean Girls respectivaly, and MK's based on a character Aquafina played to my knowledge) or at least adult celebrities (i belive Anne Maria is one such case)

but. Sugar's based on Honey Boo Boo. Who was like 8 years old in 2014? And the show treats Sugar super awfully. It constantly treats her as unattractive, annoying, gross and untalented, and while i don't think making a character gross on it's own is a bad thing, coupling it with the previously mentionned traits and the fact she's fat... Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It really feels like they're using this fictional teenage girl to mock a literal child. She deserved better from the show, but it's Total Drama. It was never gonna happen.

weird thing I noticed about myself!! I dunno fi anyone else with the tism has had this particular experience, but here it goes!

I always get heatstroke. like...okay. I get it a lot. usually because I can't tell however hot I am is too hot. the sensation hits me all at once like a sudden alarm has been flicked on, and I have about five minutes to get as cold as possible before I start vomiting. NOT FUN. anyway

I realized that might be because when I'm overwhelmed in a sensory sense, I kind of shut down my sensory??? like for instance if I'm in a crowded room, at a certain point the noise will reach the point where it doesn't bother me any more, but I'll be kinda not there. I'll be in a good mood, but at a distance. like, I've reached a point of being so overwhelmed I'm basically disassociated, and disassociative states can cause the release of endorphins, which in turn can lead to an almost high-like state of 'happy' chemicals, numbing the pain. so anyway, that's what I'm like when I'm at my limit.

the issue is, I dont realize I'm at my limit then. the things that should be warning signs for 1) thirst 2) hunger 3) exhaustion 4) pain 5) heat all melt away. so I dont have any of that. and so I usually end up feeling pretty awful because my check engine light basically just beeps itself out of existence by the time it actually matters

so I'm gonna start getting really good at keeping track of myself on my notes app, i think
