You know that one line in one codex page on Korriban that says sometimes people sneak onto the planet disguised as slaves in an attempt to grab a bunch of artifacts Indiana Jones style and bounce? Well that's Thalia's backstory until someone realized she was Force sensitive and stuck her in with the other potential Siths. Probably hangs out as Darth Nox just long enough to figure out a way to dissapear into the frontier, being a Sith was a fun power trip but she doesn't plan on staying long term. Would've romanced Talos if he was an option.

sure. let's start with what the EU does to its own member states--in 2009, the EU bailed the greek government out of severe debt on the condition that they establish brutal austerity measures, cutting public spending and welfare. these measures served to immiserate and destroy the lives of thousands of greek people:

Greek mortality has worsened significantly since the beginning of the century. In 2000, the death rate per 100,000 people was 944.5. By 2016, it had risen to 1174.9, with most of the increase taking place from 2010 onwards.

Since the implementation of the austerity programme, Greece has reduced its ratio of health-care expenditure to GDP to one of the lowest within the EU, with 50% less public hospital funding in 2015 than in 2009. This reduction has left hospitals with a deficit in basic supplies, while consumers are challenged by transient drug shortages.

The homeless population is thought to have grown by 25 per cent since 2009, now numbering 20,000 people.

the most brutal treatment, however, the EU of course reserves for migrants from the global south. the EU sets strict migration quotas and uses its member states as weapons against desperate people fleeing across the mediterranean. boats are prevented from landing, migrants that do make it to land are repelled with brutal violence, and refugees are deported back to countries where their lives are in lethal danger. these policies have led to many, many deaths--and the refugees and migrants who do survive are treating fucking inhumanely.

After a perilous journey across the desert, Abdulaziz was locked up in Triq al-Sikka, a grim prison in Tripoli, Libya. Why? A mural with sense. ‘Bis-sens’, `as we say in Maltese. A mural not just for the sake of it. This wall in Ħamrun was some years ago transformed with the face of St. George Preca and a train. The painting on the wall in Triq Il-Franġiskani was the brainchild of the Ħamrun Local Council. Ħamrun Mayor Christian Sammut asked graffiti and tattoo artist Justin Bonnici, also known as Justinks, to produce a mural with a traditional theme to commemorate the saint. A SYMBOLIC REPRESENTATION OF THE SAINT AND ĦAMRUN After designing a couple of sketches, Bonnici told the Times Of Malta that they chose the Maltese saint and the train for the mural. Both date back to the 19th century and are an important part of Maltese culture and history, as well as symbolically representing the locality. While initially Mayor Sammut was not sure if the train should feature in the mural, Bonnici convinced him to follow this route. “I believe the train gives more life and perspective to the painting, it makes it pop out and more interesting to look at,” Bonnici told the Times Of Malta. The train, better known as ‘il-vapur tal-art’ (the land ship) passed close to the road where the mural is located. A MURAL IN A PUBLIC GARDEN DEDICATED TO ANOTHER IMPORTANT FIGURE The mural is located near a small public garden. At its centre is a monument dedicated to Salvinu Spiteri (1926-1996), the first president of the ‘Unjoni Ħaddiema Magħqudin’ (UHM). The UHM Voice of the Workers is a national trade union in Malta. t was founded on the 29th September 1966 by Spiteri himself under the name Malta Government Clerical Union (MGCU). It changed its name to UHM in 1978. The St. Francis of Assisi church (il-knisja ta’ San Franġisk tas-Assisi) is just around the corner from the garden. WHY ST. GEORGE AND THE TRAIN? Born in Valletta in 1880, St. George Preca (San Ġorġ Preca) grew up and lived most of his life in Ħamrun.
