#trying to figure out how i wanna draw myself when i start my new sketchbook #+ i kinda do wanna learn lineless art bc theres a certain style of it that reminds me of gouache! and i love flat matte gouache #its so hard tho as someone who struggles with contrast. and LOVES lines. #i wish it was as easy as changing the lineart color at the very end of a lined and colored piece ykwim #but the line color i choose when im painting in gouache is different than the colors i choose when coloring already existing lineart #if that makes sense #anyway this was directly inspired by manaohu on twitter ^_^ they are one of my fave artists #a doodley #ok unlocked

#party poison #danger days #ttlotfk #killjoys california #heard paint the town red and went hm. kind of a party poison song #got super frustrated with this drawing earlier and had to take a full day away from it #before ultimately just deciding i’ve scrapped WAY too many drawings lately #and that the best way to start improving and not hating my art again is to keep pushing myself through drawings even when i hate them #try to fix them. and also probably doing some studies would help #also using references. that’s helped a little with being less frustrated #ANYWAYS. i had fun doing this one #i actually faked the lineless style by coloring over the lineart i did with either a similar color for inner lines + same color for outside #:]

#my art #original art #kind of? #i styled her using pieces from shining nikki (dress up game) #ive been surprising myself lately you know?! #in my teens id be like no way will i ever do a lineless art style!!! its sooo hard!!!! #and then look at me now LOL #i realized i just didnt understand it #but now after trying it out learning and practicing i find i kind of love it more than doing lineart style!! #i dont know why but the process of sketch > lines > flat color > shading etc just kills me inside #i prefer sketch > shading > render and finish #i also cant stand separating every single part into a layer and having to scroll to it when i want to shade it #and having to perfectly color within the lines it drives me nuts #so lately ive just been drawing mostly everything on 1 layer and said screw perfection i'll just make messy my style then LOL #the point is lineless seems to suit my preferences better than i thought and maybe i'll try this out even more in future art :) #who reads this im just talking to myself

people are gonna be getting that heishin anthology like "wow there're actually quite a number of people who like heishin!" and then they check in the back and there's me 4 times trying to hard to pretend I'm 4 different people to make the fandom look bigger

#just thinking thoughts... #hmm I do think my general proportions are about the same though #so that could be an indicator #also I think the way I draw shinichi's hair is pretty standard #other people tend to take more liberties with his. spikes and triangles asnd so on #I also think the colors for the sticker and the charm are similar but the style is very different #also I noticed that in the trans one heiji's hair is basically blue because I worried if I made it red/brown #it wouldn't contrast enough with his skin tone #but in the charm I knew I'd have enough contrast in the value between the skin and hair #and I was more focused on making heiji red + green so his hair ended up red #and shinichi blue + yellow (we're still debating on this though) #um. sorry that red and blue are the only colors I know how to use. #I did try to challlenge myself and make a green one though (top left) #just because this ship is a green-colored ship. idk. #lol I didn't think the charm would end up lineless but it is how it is lol #I think it'll turn out quite nicely...
