A little behind the scenes info.

When this challenge started Eliane was supposed to be the founding spouse to Khur. Callisto was intended to be a spare and I created her a second camp with another mate named Krunk in the next lot over.

However, Eliane and Khur didn't like each other, left to their own devices they would insult each other and it was actually work to get their bars up high enough to woohoo. He managed to get her pregnant once, with Juno.

Additionally, Eliane would autonomously flirt with Krunk. He came over regularly and before long their bars were maxed while I struggled to keep Khur's bar at 50%. Callisto was also much more interested in Khur than Krunk, if I was directing her to flirt she would but would default to friendly interactions with Krunk.

Callisto and Khur liked each other, a lot. They would autonomously woohoo if not watched, Afon was not planned. Their affection was rarely directed.

Callisto and Eliane were best friends, even after I gave up and moved Eliane in with Krunk she was always over to visit with Callisto or insult Khur.

Eliane's last name was Kai, her decedents are alive and well in my game. Uncle Bernardo's last name was Kai, he was a son of Eliane and Krunk. Jackie and Susan are daughters of Juno.

Mademoiselle Violette: Oui, it was quite an affair! I was waiting for Oscar outside the post office and idly standing by when he rushed right into me! The tumble was quite severe, I was so unsteady on my feet and he helped Oscar assist me home. Truly, I am just as stunned as you are, though why he was rushing about the square I have no idea.

Madame Adelaide: It appears I owe Ernest more credit than I currently afford him. He does always seem to surprise me.

Mademoiselle Maybelline: And are you well recovered? When I last came to call Oscar mentioned you were still terribly unwell.

Mademoiselle Violette: I assure you I am quite well, though Oscar is still in quite a state. If it wasn't for la Douairière I wouldn't have been allowed out for our weekly stroll!

Madame Maybelline: He's always been the...overprotective type. Mine would have left me on the sidewalk to rot.

Mademoiselle Violette: [Scoffs] Honestly, Maybelline...In all honestly I'm surprised he hasn't started breathing fire down the necks of every suitor who comes to call. Though I believe him too busy these days to notice.

Mademoiselle Maybelline: And what news from you, Adelaide? I hear Gaston is looking more weary with each passing day as his impending nuptials loom closer...

Mademoiselle Violette: Is that true? And here I thought the big conversation would be about Eleanor turning down le Monseigneur's invitation to join him at le Prix de Thornolie.

Mademoiselle Maybelline: Quoi? Where did you hear that?

That moment when yet another random townie gets an impromptu makeover because he was all up in the way at the gym... 

Listen, all I wanted was to test out a lot to prepare for this damn story for Angel to embrace the changes that are happening in her life. Sis ditched her laziness for an active lifestyle (and apparently now she loves fitness). Love that for her. As soon as she brought her ass inside the gym...notification...

I clicked on the treadmill for her to work out and all she heard was “’Scuse me...what’s ya name?” . Just ignoring the hell outta me...

Listen, Angel, I understand...Royce is indeed a snack...but GIRL! You got food at home! 😩

As soon as Royce strolled his ass to her side of the gym, Ace calls and invites her over so he can fold her ass up like a pretzel. 

But you know what, turns out Royce is Romantic and Active I kinda forgot his third trait, so that’s cute. Good for him. Guess we’ll be seeing more of him at the gym because now I love him...I mean, since he is an athlete or whatever.

[Ep. 16] The Beach Episode Spa Arc

Well… I can’t argue with the numbers. I was going to give Julesx2 the chance to stay if their relationships with each other weren’t higher than their bars with Daniel: but lo and behold, these two have been building up their relationship more than I thought!

Being in control of Dan alone has its perks, but it also means I rarely ever see the relationships the contestants are building with each other - I knew these two spent a lot of time together, but damn! By the time this happened with Daniel literally just upstairs, it seems like Julien and Julian have found their perfect match: while it isn’t with our Bachelor, I think we should be happy for them regardless! 🥹

They will be getting a proper send-off post after we see a small moment of Daniel, Alone, going to grab a coffee before the next Rose Ceremony’s planning. To @mattodore and @morrigan-sims, thank you both for these darling, darling boys! They really are very happy together 🥹

Having read/reread Somnium this past week/two-ish... I have some theories about Wyatt.

Every character we create has a bit of us, our experiences, and our biases. On that same note, I think every persona Wyatt has projected contained a bit of truth, but also a fair bit of fabrication. Of all the characters in Somnium, I think he had the worst childhood. It's really a miracle he's alive and not completely batshit crazy. And it's understandable why he learned to shut down emotions from a tiny age.

But Wyatt is AND isn't who we've seen. That nerdy, awkward doofus Courtney got to know, there a bit of truth there. But he exaggerated it for her. The absolute psycho that everyone shied away from... There's a bit of truth there, but I think also a fair amount of embellishment. If you're gonna be surrounded by homicidal thugs, then by all means, be the craziest one in the room. The one person that everyone is wary of. When he had his years alone in Mt. Komo (aka his purgatory), it was the first time his survival didn't depend on acting FOR someone else. He could just BE.

Wyatt says he isn't wired right and that he's emotionally faulty. But is he really as bad off as he thinks or is that what he's always been told? Obviously empathy is not his strong suit, but we've seen him: jealous/envious (others' relationships), selfless (letting Darien & Brynn go), appreciative (Oscar's help), petrified (to the point of throwing up), kind (to Ichiro, Mayo, and Brynn), and managed to (while sweating) mumble an ILY. All of which are normal emotions. He tried to make amends where he could. He adopted a cat ffs. A street cat that now has the poshest looking cat bed I've seen lol And the last time he choked someone was out of passion and (somewhat righteous) anger, not emotionless calculation.

I think who Wyatt was (and thought he was) is fading away, however damaged his past left him. I don't think he'll ever be a soft guy/touch to the world at large. Only a select few will be privy to that side if him. But I think his true nature is finally being revealed. Or am I reading him wrong? Enlighten me, Becca!

Ohhh you've read him remarkably well indeed! I truly love Wyatt's character, he's so complex and he really did have a nasty childhood.. on the surface I'm sure it looked like he had everything he ever wanted, but that's faaar from the truth.

I think he's only just realised that he's not actually a psychopath at all, he just kinda learnt how to be one as a coping mechanism when he was very young, so young that it almost seemed like reality in the end, even to other people! (There's a reason it seemed so genuine ⚆_⚆) I suppose in a way he lied to himself for so long it became reality. Ask Bruno.. he's still convinced he's a psycho! 😅

I rlly think smth shifted the moment he became suspicious of Oscar tho, and whilst at first he was intent on protecting the "family" and doing the "right" thing, the more he thought about it, the more he realised how done he was. No one listened to him, no one respected him, but he knew he was right! It was like he realised he'd never progressed from being a small child, pushed out of the way and ignored, even when they're begging to tell you something important! Arturo wasn't interested, so instead.. he had to pay. Wyatt didn't want to be loyal to him anymore! At the time, he didn't help Oscar n' co. just to do the right thing, he wanted to fuck his father over more than anything, so.. still pretty self-serving in a way but he's had a loooot of time to think since then and it's been so intriguing watching the slow shift in his mindset.

He's everything he's ever been, pretended to be and everything he never was, all bundled up into a ball that he buried deep inside; only when he was free did it all start to unravel.

I adore the examples of humanity you've picked up on tho, all those tiny hints we got that maybe he's not completely devoid of emotion after all... He's still Wyatt, but he's also Kaito too.. he's intelligent, he CAN be kind - to the right people, tho he definitely struggles with empathy - he's jealous, possessive, ambitious, confident, not confident at all 😆 he doesn't know, actually.. maybe we should check back in on him in a little while lmao

As much as it saddens me to say, it’s time to wrap up our years in New Orleans with another Darlington gameplay retrospective. This decade was a whirlwind both for me and our pixels, from Zelda’s early, carefree days when she first arrived, to the peak of 1920s decadence and Gatsby parties, and then through the grim realities hiding behind the shiny facades.

In the many, many screenies I have been hoarding through it all, you can see little gameplay moments behind the story itself. It was filled with wholesome moments for this new little pixel family, as they grew together and rode out the rocks I continued to throw in their paths. We saw our heir go from a shy, anxious girl to a strong mother; the Duplanchiers move beyond their pasts and toward their futures; and of course, the formative years of the next heiress, the willful and vivacious Little Lottie herself.
