Ok guys consider this: DP fic where Danny and Wes run away together
Make no mistake, they still absolutely HATE each other. Wes has been trying to expose Danny’s identity since the beginning, and that hasn’t changed a bit since the GiW appeared.
Now, though, it makes a little bit more sense to Danny.
Wes is at his window, panting and shaking, and he is bleeding. The GiW, he explains, had been harassing him since the beginning. An hour ago, they got the warrant needed to take him into custody, and they went after him immediately. To add to that, they got the papers to go after one other person as well. Danny.
So now, they’re on the world’s worst road trip to Florida or Alaska or some other, equally far away state because Wes has an uncle there who he knows has a deep enough grudge against the government that he won’t sell them out for anything.
They hate each other, and desperately wish they could ditch each other, but Danny’s the only one who can actually keep their rustbucket bike (originally Wes’ brother’s, gifted to him after it started breaking down) working without dropping at least 2 grand on repairs, and Wes is the only one with a driver’s license.
Danny’s honestly surprised that Wes didn’t just sell him out. Wes told him that, quite frankly, he probably would have, had the GiW not attacked him as viciously as they did. He still hated Danny, of course, but he couldn’t live with himself if he just…left someone to get tortured like that.
Danny snaps that he knew the GiW would do that since the beginning, and if Wes had just listened to him—
In truth, he’s surprisingly touched. He’s never gonna tell Wes that, but still.
Basically just roadtrip of hell where Danny and Wes slowly get closer and start to understand each other, while simultaneously Jazz and Sam are working together to politically destroy the GiW, Tucker is running digital interference as much as possible (Danny, please stop showing your full face in front of security cameras, are you trying to give him a seizure), and the parents Fenton are beginning to think that they might’ve, just maybe, made a slight mistake in their understanding of Phantom.

I just need a fanfic where everyone thinks that Wes keeps saying that Danny and Phantom are the same person because he has a crush on both of them and it's in his negation phase.
He does not. He swear he doesn't. You just don't understand. There's a whole investigation made by himself to PROVE that they're, indeed, the same person.
And they go all like, yes Wes, we know you are a little bit crazy about love but we respect and support you as long as you don't become a stalker or worse. We accepted ghosts, we can accept a poly boy.
And Danny doesn't help. He's all "oh Wea, I didn't know you think so good about me 😳😳😳" And Wes all "I DON'T" and Sam/Tuxker all "You don't treat my child like that."
Phantom,on the other side starts to flirt with him, jokingly. Dedicating him some wins, throwing him kisses, winking an wye in his direction, etc.
Amity Park is sure that there's a whole love triangle and it's kind of fucked up because in one side we have the strongest ghost and in the other side we have tiny child from ghost busters. That's drama.
It's their fucking novel, tea, whatever. They eat this shit, they inhale it, they live and only live for this shit. This is THE Drama.
Wes just wants to cry at this point.

I keeping getting this Danny Phantom au idea that's, like, Danny and Wes, but Lois and Clark from Superman. (I'm thinking about the 1978 movie for specifics if it matters.) The basis for the au is that Danny infiltrates the ranks of the local news reporters to steer away the media coverage on him because it's becoming a threat to his civilian life. In the process he becomes Wes's assistant, but Wes heavily dislikes him and tries to make him leave. They go through a series of wacky hijinks as Danny tries to keep his identity a secret, and Wes eventualy realizes who Danny is and falls in love, but doesn't tell him about either. Some bs happens, major conflict, the BEANS are SPILLED! A little will they won't they, they kiss and live happily ever after, move in, whatever couples do, I've never been in love. In fiction it sounds great, but irl sounds like a hassle. Someone please tell me I'm not being delusional on this. I want to put this on paper, but I'm so terrible at writing, idk maybe I'll take a crack at it. Fanfic authors, it's fair game, but you HAVE to @ me or something I gotta know what you come up with. I have a reach smaller than a pin tack, but a man can dream.

Danny tries to pawn the Ghost King position off on his classmates.
Idk what I was doing, and then suddenly it turned into wes/danny I'm so fucking sorry?
T rating I embarrassed myself fucking writing this bc it came out of nowhere girl (gn) HELP
"Hey Dash how about instead of you focusing on your homework you just start beating me up, just like old times! I sure miss being slammed into a locker."
Dash looks at Fenton, confused before scoffing.
"Even though I normally love wailing on you, Fenturd, coach needs me on my best behavior. State's next week and I'm one loser swirlie away from being suspended."
"I won't scream or anything, I promise! Whaddya say? You get to beat the snot out of me and I won't even complain! I'll even thank you for it." Danny responds, looking around nervously. "But I'm in a bit of a rush, so can you make it quick and do it, say, before six tonight?"
Danny gives the other boy the saddest, most punchable puppy dog eyes he possibly can.
Dash rolls his eyes seeing Fenton ham it up. The loser only does this for his birthday, so it's really weird having him request it four months in advance. Dash decides to ignore the request, only gently pushing the dweeb out of his way. "Beat it, Fentertainment Tonite- I know you don't have a life, but I do."
Danny curses as Dash disappears down the halls.
"I know you want to punch me. You wanna do it so bad." Danny eggs on another of the jocks- Travis, he thinks. "Remember that time I said you punch like my Grandma?"
His grandma taught both his mom and aunt how to fight, but Travis doesn't need to know that.
"Beat it, jackwipe!" Travis shoves Danny out of the way and continues down the hall.
"The one time I need to be shoved into a locker or punched, none of the jocks want to even look at me." Danny bemoans.
He's already struck out with Dash and Kwan- both of which need to stay as non violent as possible with administration lurking around this close to their big game. Paulina pretended he didn't exist, and Star laughed in his face. Something about 'she already kicked his ass months ago'. Which was true, but he was certain he's done something since then worth beating him up for.
"I can't ask Sam or Tuck, it's gotta be someone I hate." Danny pauses with a shudder. "But definitely not Vlad- he already has an ego the size of the Milky Way..."
Danny hears the bell ring and wipes his sweaty palms on his pants.
He has until six tonight to get his ass beat. He can do that, right?
---
Danny is downright panicked now.
Detention really put a damper on his plans. Being stuck in a sweltering classroom with Lancer and Wes only made him more nervous. It really didn't help that Lancer needed helping hands for some after school thing.
Danny only has one option, and he's glad it's one of his 'enemies'.
"Heyyyyyy Wes, what's happening tonight?" Danny slings his arm around the tall boy's shoulder, pulling him down to pipsqueak height. "Wasn't that round of detention just fun?"
Wes nearly growls and shoves Danny off of him. "Fenton! You're the reason I was even there in the first place! If it wasn't for you and your stupid ghost bullshit I would have gotten to class on time!"
"Yeah?" Danny asks, being as annoyingly positive as he possibly can. "Well it's good that there was two of us, or else Lancer wouldn't have let either of us out until well after six!"
Danny looks at the clock nervously- five fifty.
He has ten minutes.
"I don't find moving entire stacks of chairs halfway across the school fun, or even a fair punishment for being late twice in a week. So what if the crafting club has their expo tonight? They should be the ones moving furniture." Wes tries to overtake Danny in the hall but he can't outwalk the other boy.
"But we got to spend all day with each other! Isn't that just swell?" Danny pukes in his mouth a little. He's got a goalpost to reach in less than ten minutes, and my the Ancients he's gonna do it.
"Spending time with a chronic liar and freak of nature isn't really what I consider fun, Fenton."
"Yeah, but we really bonded, don't you think? Had some quality one-on-one without you being a creep outside my house."
Wes's face reddens. "HEY! That was one time, and I don't want to have the cops chase me again. Or your parents, who are worse somehow."
"See, we're bonding here!" Danny jogs alongside Wes, making sure to keep pace at just the right level of obnoxious. But we should really bond sometime in the next... eight minutes."
"God there it is again! What? Do you have important Phantom shit to do at six or something?" Wes rubs his temples. "You're being freakier than normal today and I'm gonna get to the bottom of it."
"There's nothing to get to the bottom of, I just have something to do later. Not Phantom or ghost related- something completely normal and human, yep."
"God you piss me the fuck off, Fenton." Wes crosses his arms and blocks the doorway out of the school. "And one of these days, I'm gonna get you to confess, and then it'll be all over."
"Yeah, that's nice and all, but like, wouldn't it just be so satisfying to, I dunno, take out all that pent up frustration on me?" Danny grins devilishly at the other boy. "Come on, I have such a punchable face! Aaaaand since you say I'm a ghost or whatever it won't actually hurt me, right?"
Danny gets right up into Wes's personal space and looks up at him with a shit-eating grin.
"Back off, Fenton." Wes backs himself against the lockers. He looks anywhere but Danny's face. "Personal space is a concept even stupid ghosts understand."
"Yeah, but if I'm a stupid ghost doesn't that make you wanna prove it? Can't you prove it by beating me up? You have a camera..." Danny reaches for the camera slung around Wes's shoulder and points it at his own face. "It'd be soooo easy."
Wes's face is currently doing its best impression of a tomato as he continues to ignore Danny.
"Please? I'm gonna start begging you to beat my ass soon if you don't acknowledge me, Wes."
"Back. Off. Fenton." Wes stares Danny right in the face. "Last chance."
Danny does the opposite and yanks Wes to stare him in the eyes. "You wanna punch me so bad it makes you look stupid, Weston." Danny chuckles and makes his eyes flash green. "Your face is sooooo red with rage- you wanna kick my ass, admit it!"
Danny barely gets a warning before Wes lunges and tackles him to the ground with a kiss.
Both boys gasp in surprise and Wes backs himself against the lockers with a loud bang.
They sit in silence, staring at each other in disbelief before Danny laughs.
"Dude, what the fuck is wrong with you?"
"Sh-shut up! It's not my fault you're kind of..."
"Wait, have you been staring at me this whole time because you're crushing on me?" Danny laughs in disbelief as Wes turns even brighter red. "Is that how you 'accidentally' discovered my secret?"
"No!" Wes sputters out. "I don't sta-"
"Stalk me, yeah. Dude you follow me around with a camera to try and expose me. What sort of fruitloop shit are you pulling??"
"Well, if you weren't lying about being a human, then I wouldn't need to-"
"Yeah yeah, whatever." Danny doesn't know how to feel about it, really. Wes is kind of cute, and he's unhinged just like the rest of his friends. But he's also obsessed with exposing him, and kind of stalks him (to no success).
He spends a few moments before he glances at the clock again.
Two minutes left.
He can use this to his advantage, even if it's dirty and underhanded.
"Hey Wes. You really fucking suck at kissing." He eggs the other boy on. "Like, zero technique, all desperation!"
"Shut up!"
Wes starts crying a little. Danny only feels a little bad, but he really needs this to happen.
"What, even I've kissed people before and I'm a loser! Plus I bet you can't even man up and fight me like I want- you're such a little cuck boy, Weston! Always relying on other people to do the dirty work of beating my ass so you can gather your evidence like a little bitch in the dark."
"I said shut up!" Wes's face is bright red again- an angry embarrassment with tears streaming down his face.
But he still has to keep going, even if it feels gross to do this to someone who he kind of likes.
"Make me, Wesley." He spits.
---
It's a dirty brawl but it ends with a very red-faced Wes pinning a bruised and elated Danny to the ground. The latter feels awful about playing dirty with Wes's feelings, but it seems the other boy really needed to take out his rage on him.
"Sooooo, you admit you have complete victory in this fight, right Wes?" Danny smiles up from underneath the other boy.
Wes sputters, his face still bright red and tears running down his cheeks. "You're such a fucking little shit, Fenton."
"Thanks, I try!. But I need you to accept that I'm saying you have total victory in this fight."
Wes sighs and lets go of Danny's wrists and sits back against the lockers. "Yeah, sure. I beat your ass fair and square. Also do you know how weird it is to see you healing this fast? I swear I gave you a black eye."
"You did. I'm just a fast healer." Danny sits up and looks around. He feels... guilty. At least for only finding one person to do this to.
The clock strikes six.
"Also, I'm sorry I lied- you're not a bad kisser. I just needed you to beat my ass. Also sorry about what's about to happen." Danny rubs the back of his neck.
"Sorry about wha-" Wes is interrupted by a portal opening beside the two of them.
"Sorry for being impolite, we should assume." An Observant materializes out of the void beside him. "It's not polite for the crown prince to wait until the last minute to find a replacement, but since you have... bested Prince Phantom in combat, albeit not formal combat, the rules are the rules."
Wes glares at Danny who is doing his best trying to disappear without going ghost.
"Prince Phantom??" Wes spits at the other boy.
"Yep! Former Prince Phantom." Danny smirks. "And again, sorry, but they only gave me today until six to find a replacement. The whole King schtick isn't really my jam."
Wes stares at the other boy as more Observants spill from the hole in reality and bow to him.
"Fenton..."
"Hey! I'm not gonna bail on you or anything. You still need an advisor- I just really don't wanna deal with the formality shit. Hope you understand!"
Danny gives Wes a peace sign as he's escorted through the portal, pissed off, confused, and shell-shocked.

Okay. So. Post AGIT. Vlad is back in Wisconsin with Dan. Walter works and is head over heels for the man. It's a well paying job he can't just quit. Gotta move the family out to Wisconsin so he can keep it.
Wes is immediately upset about not being able to keep an eye on Danny and what he's doing back in Amity. Not to mention school here sucks. Nobody even believes in ghosts in the first place, people are calling him crazy even more than they did before. It's the worst. Then he meets a new student. One who just so happens to look like Danny Fenton? Hell no. There's no way he's not getting to the bottom of this.

If Only There Was Someone That Loved You
fanfiction

Danny decides to try to get Wes to stop trying to out him as Phantom by making Wes fall in love with him, thinking that Wes won't want his boyfriend to be caught and potentially dissected. How well this works is up to the writer @raaorqtpbpdy
hehehoohoo
This wasn’t what he meant to happen.
It had all started out as a simple plan, really. All he had to do was woo Wes, make him fall in love with him. Maybe then he wouldn’t keep trying to out Danny. He’d want to protect his boyfriend. He’d gotten a bit too close lately and Danny was running out of ways to keep Wes at bay. He tried deleting pictures, breaking cameras, playing into the joke. But he could tell that Wes was finally starting to break people. Whenever he walked the hallways people would whisper.
Do you think it’s really true?
How could it be? Fenton, a ghost? That’s not possible.
Who knows what his parents do in that basement. Maybe his parents did something to him.
He had to get Wes to stop telling people he was Phantom. And he was out of options. He had even threatened his life! That didn’t even work. All Wes had said was that Danny didn’t have the guts for it.
Danny stared at him from across the hallway. He really didn’t want to do this. But he didn’t think he had any other choices anymore. He took a deep breath and strode across the hallway. Leaning his arm high up against the lockers, Danny leaned forward and flashed a smile at Wes.
“Hi, how you doin’?” Danny smiled at him.
“What do you want, Fenton?” Wes asked him, not even bothering him a glance.
“Okay, that’s not your style how about,” Danny paused. Looking down, he said, “you’ve left me no choice, here comes the smolder.” He looked back up at Wes, trying his best to embody Flynn Rider’s persona.
“What are you doing?” Wes finally slammed his locker shut and turned to look at Danny.
“Isn’t it obvious?” Danny asked, fluttering his eyes. “I’m trying my best to woo you. To win you over. You’ve captured my heart and I’ve come to tell you how I really feel.”
Wes rolled his eyes. “Yeah, right, Fenton. Last I heard from Sam is that you hate my guts.”
“That was just the internalized homophobia speaking.” Danny said dramatically. “I’ve changed, I’ve realized that I was masking my feelings for you with anger and hostility, and it made me think, maybe you were too. That we’re just victims of our unaccepting world.”
Wes stared at him. He seemed to be contemplating something. His expression resolved. “Okay, Fenton. If you really like me like you say you do, take me out to the movies.”
Danny’s eyes widened. Did that really work?
“Yeah! The movies.” Danny smiled. “Let’s go to the movies. How about Saturday?”
Wes smiled at him. “It’s a date.”
Danny smiled back. “A date.”
-----
“A date?” Sam stared at Danny in confusion. “You’re going on a date with Wes? Why? I thought you hated him.”
“I do.” Danny held a shirt up to himself as he faced the mirror in his room. He threw it down and picked up another one. “This is just my new plan to get him to stop trying to out me. It’d be bad to want your boyfriend exposed right?”
“If this is just another scheme to get him to stop then why are you getting so worked up over this date? It’s not even real.”
“I’m not getting worked up over it!” Danny frowned at her.
“You’ve looked at eight different shirts and haven’t decided on a single one to wear.”
Danny blushed. “If I’m gonna do this I have to go all in, right?”
“What are you going to do if this doesn’t work out? What if you break up with him later? Wouldn’t that be even more fuel for him to expose you? Wes seems like he’d be the crazy kind of ex.”
“I haven’t thought that far ahead but it’ll be fine.” He held his chin in his hand as he stared at the shirts strewn across his bed.
“Danny.” Sam stood up and crossed the room towards him. “I want to make sure you know what you’re doing. It’s not nice to lead people on and play with their feelings. What if he actually starts liking you?”
Danny shook his head. “That’s the plan.”
“Okay.” She looked at the shirts on his bed. “What if you start liking him?”
“What?” Danny shot her a look. “That won’t happen. What makes you say that?”
She sighed. Crossing the room, she sat back down in his desk chair. “When something goes wrong, I’ll say I told you so.”
“Fine, but it’ll be fine.”
“Whatever you say.”
-----
Danny stood outside the movie theater fidgeting with his shirt. Sam was wrong, he wasn’t nervous.
Time ticked ever closer to the start of the movie and he wondered if maybe Wes wasn’t coming. That he had just been messing with him that day at school. That he had called Danny’s bluff, realized what he was trying to do.
He was just about to turn around and head in to watch the movie by himself when a car pulled into the parking lot.
It parked and turned off. The door opened and out came Wes. He slammed the door shut and smiled at Danny.
“Ready for our date?”
Danny flashed him a pair of finger guns. “You bet I am.”
As they walked inside Danny shook his hands out. Why did he do that?
They walked up to the counter and bought their tickets, snacks, and drinks. Once they had everything they headed to their theater.
They sat down right as the last ad was playing. Soon the sound of the newest Terminatra movie was playing through the speakers.
He was so engrossed in the film. He couldn’t pull his eyes away from the screen.
As he swallowed another mouthful of popcorn, he felt around for his cup without looking. But instead of his cup, his hand brushed Wes’s.
He jumped a little and pulled his hand back from Wes’s without taking a drink of his soda. After a few moments he felt as Wes’s hand fumbled around before finding his hand in the dark. Wes gave a little squeeze and butterflies erupted in Danny's stomach.
Sam’s words repeated themselves in his head and his stomach dropped.
Oh no.
This wasn’t what was supposed to happen.
He couldn’t like Weston. Not for real! How did this even manage to happen?
The butterflies kept going as Wes rubbed a thumb over the back of his hand.
This was okay. This was fine. If it actually made the plan work, then that was good then right? And this way he wouldn’t be playing with anyone’s feelings.
No one would get hurt.
-----
Danny and Wes had officially been dating for two months now. Today was their two month anniversary. He wanted to do something special for Wes.
He took his time setting up the picnic in the secluded part of the park they would meet in. He was setting down the last flickering candle when he heard the approaching footsteps. He looked up and standing on the edge of the clearing was Wes.
“Hi, Wes!” Danny said excitedly. He stood up and made his way over to Wes and gave him a hug.
Wes patted him on the back and pulled away. “Wow, you sure went all out. You didn’t have to do this.”
Danny grabbed Wes’s hand and pulled him over to the blanket. “I didn’t have to, but I wanted to. I wanted to celebrate how far we’ve come and how glad I am to have asked you out.”
“Technically it was me that asked you out, not the other way around.”
Danny chuckled. “Okay, yeah. But still! I couldn’t be happier about the way this had turned out.”
He turned to the cooler he put off to the side and grabbed two cups. He filled them with ice and set them on the ground in front of Wes. He turned back to the cooler and started pulling their food out and found the sparkling juice underneath it all.
“It’s not actual wine, but it’ll do.”
Danny poured the juice into each of their glasses. He set the bottle back down and picked up his cup.
“To us.” He clinked his glass against Wes’s and took a long drink of his juice.
Danny passed Wes his bowls of food and they sat eating and talking for a bit. Fifteen minutes had gone by and Danny was mesmerized by the way the candlelight flickered across Wes’s face. He picked his glass back up.
“I love you.”
Suddenly, something was wrong.
Danny’s glass slipped from his hand. The juice spilled across the blanket they were sitting on. Danny’s head began to feel heavy. He was becoming drowsy. He fell backwards on the blanket and heard Wes chuckle.
“Oh, Danny. If only there was someone that loved you.”
He blinked slowly at Wes. He was leaning over him, a manic smile on his face.
“Wha… what?” Danny slurred.
“Your little trick didn’t work, ghost boy.” Wes bopped him on the nose. “I’ve won.”
Danny was starting to fade out, the world turning black.
He could only imagine the whispers people would hear inside the school once everyone found out what happened.
Did you hear? Wes was right about Danny.
I heard he really was a dangerous ghost. How did we go so long without realizing?
If only we had realized sooner.
I told you so.
The last thing Danny heard was the faint rings coming from Wes’s phone and the words he spoke to the person on the other side of the call.
“Hello, Agent O. I’ve got Phantom.”

Wes took another deep breath in a futile attempt to calm his nerves. He sat at the edge of his bed, crossing and uncrossing his ankles over and over again. The dark green duvet was warm in his clenched hands. Doubt, fear, and embarrassment were heavy and pushing down on his shoulders, twisting his stomach. It was stopping him from looking at the boy beside him.

Chapter 4: A Burst of Red
AO3 Link
[Warnings for minor violence]
This ghost hero shit was not easy. Hiding it wasn't easy either. Honestly, Danny had no idea why Sam and Tucker hadn't called him out on his bullshit excuses already. He wanted so badly to just come out and tell everyone what had happened, that the portal hadn't just spontaneously turned on, that he could turn into a ghost now. But then his parents had threatened to tear him apart—molecule by molecule.
He was never going to let himself go through that again.
So he hid. He told no one about what he could do. He spent more time making up excuses than doing homework. Schoolwork and friendships and family fell by the wayside as Danny was forced to dedicate more and more time to fighting the ghosts that came through the portal. He hated it. But if he didn't fight them, there would be no more school, or friends, or Fenton Works because the ghosts would destroy it all. If he didn't fight them, there was no one else who could.
Day after day, Danny had to fend off these invaders from the Ghost Zone. They weren't even especially malicious, Danny had come to think, but they just did not care about the consequences of their actions at all, because it was only the humans who had to deal with those consequences. On top of that, even though Danny was the one who was keeping those consequences to a minimum, he was still being lumped in with all the rest of the ghosts.
At least most of the people at school appreciated him, but adults were so ungrateful. They blamed him for everything, made him look bad in the papers, and even gave him the God awful moniker of Inviso-Bill. It was horrible.
"Some upperclassman was asking me about you earlier," Tucker told Danny in bio one day, tearing him out of his ruminations. "I don't remember what his name was. Tall, red-headed guy. He said he wanted to recruit you for the school newspaper because he heard your grades were good, and I told him he had the wrong Fenton."
"Why would I want to join the school newspaper?"
"I dunno." Tucker shrugged. "Apparently you get extra credit."
"Well, it's not like I couldn't use the extra credit. That purpleback gorilla project did approximately jack shit for my GPA."
"Alright class, please take out your homework and go over it with your lab partner before handing it in," their science teacher said, and Danny reached into his backpack for the lab sheet.
"Anyway," Tucker said as he did the same, "I just figured I'd warn you about that in case he comes to bother you again."
"Thanks man," Danny said. He frowned at his lab sheet. He hadn't had time to finish filling it out because he'd had to take care of a swarm of ghost mice that had infested his house the night before. "Speaking of my grades..." Tucker sighed.
"Yes, you can copy my answers. Just be sneaky about it or we'll get caught."
"You're the best, Tuck."
"I know." Danny started frantically scribbling the answers down, keeping one eye on the teacher to make sure she wasn't looking their way. "What I don't know is why your grades took such a dive when we started high school. Seriously, dude, is something going on I don't know about?"
"Nah," Danny lied, offering his best friend a pinched smile. "I just got lazy, I guess. You know I'd rather play video games than do homework."
"Oh! Did you check out the mods I sent you for Doomed?" Tucker asked, happily jumping on the change of subject. "The second one is freaking hilarious!"
"I only had time to look at the first one, but it was pretty sweet," Danny responded, and the subject of his suddenly poor grades was out of mind completely.
Shortly after that, Danny started to feel eyes on him. Maybe it was a ghost thing, or maybe he was just being paranoid, but it felt like he was being watched. Whoever or whatever it was, it didn't set off his ghost sense. Hopefully, he was just being paranoid, and there was nothing dangerous following him around, but it put him on edge. It made him even more careful about keeping his identity secret.
Nearly two weeks passed and that feeling rarely went away, and never for long.
Danny was fighting the Box Ghost again, and he actually had things pretty well in hand. After a couple months it was about time for him to get the hang of things. Now if only he could catch the Box Ghost without the grocery store's entire stock getting ecto-contaminated or destroyed, then he'd really be getting somewhere.
"Danny!" a voice shouted and Danny turned his head instinctively to see a red-headed teenager he'd never met before in his life, looking right at him. "I fucking knew it!" he shouted triumphantly.
"Who the hell are you?!" Danny shouted down to him.
"I'm—Look out!" he cut himself off, pointing behind Danny, who turned around just in time to get a face full of canned beans as a box of them was flung his way. "Ooh," the stranger cringed. "Sorry! How about we'll talk after you deal with this guy?"
"Don't even think about going anywhere!" Danny told him, hoping that he'd sounded threatening enough to actually keep the guy from running away, but not so threatening as to make the guy freak out and then run away. He got a thumbs up for his efforts, so apparently it had worked.
Returning to his fight with the Box ghost with renewed vigor, Danny started shooting off ghost rays, cutting off escape routes and keeping him away from anymore boxes until he had the Box Ghost cornered and captured him in the Fenton Thermos. As soon as he capped the thermos he whipped around to make sure that random ginger who somehow knew his name was still standing in the empty parking lot waiting for him. The ginger waved.
"Who are you?" Danny demanded as he flew over to the guy.
"Wesley Weston, but everyone calls me Wes," the stranger answered. "I'm your soulmate."
"What?" Danny's face wrinkled in confusion. "How can you possibly know that?"
"You're Danny Fenton, aren't you?"
"N-no."
"You turned around when I called your name, I know you are," Wes pointed out, looking supremely unimpressed. "I and I know you're my soulmate because I stop seeing color any time you're around, and when the colors come back, Inviso-Bill is nowhere to be seen." Danny groaned.
"Do not call me that, okay? It's Phantom, none of that Inviso-Bill garbage. That name is so stupid."
"Agreed. Phantom is much better." Wes nodded. "So how can you turn into a ghost? Are you dead sometimes and alive other times? How does that work?"
"I don't know, really," Danny shrugged, then realized what he'd just admitted to. "I mean, I don't know what you're talking about. No one can be both a ghost and a human."
"Come on, dude, take the L."
Danny held out for another few moments before Wes' smug expression wore him down and he sighed in defeat. "Guess it's time to give up the ghost, huh?" Wes snorted softly at the pun, and shielded his eyes from the bright white flash of those rings when Danny changed back. "So how'd you figure me out, anyway? Even if you knew Phantom was your soulmate, how'd you figure out I was him?"
"A lot of groundwork," came the answer on a heavy breath that spoke to just how much effort it had been. "A lot of comparing records. I talked to your friends, and I followed you around for a bit to see if I could figure out how you did it."
"It was you!" Danny realized, pointing an accusing finger at the other boy. "You're the one who's been watching me the last couple of days! I thought I was going crazy!"
"Sorry about that," Wes apologized sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck and offering an awkward smile. "I wanted to be sure I was right before I confronted you."
"So... you're my soulmate, huh?" Danny looked the boy up and down. He was tall; he had a good seven or eight inches on Danny. His skin was pale with a light dusting of copper freckles that matched his hair, and his eyes were emerald green, darker and richer than the sickening glow of ectoplasm that haunted Danny's nightmares. "I guess that means there's one good thing that came out of this whole disaster then."
"So... you wanna go get something to eat?" Wes offered. "Nasty Burger's not far from here. I'll buy."
"Sure," Danny agreed, and they walked side-by-side down the street.
