Combining my thoughts for like three fandoms into one post because they all fit together in my head.
When I say that the Yellowjackets finale got chucky season two-ed i don’t mean I’m disappointed in what happened with either of the endings, I just think it was the wrong timing.
I always knew that Glen and Glenda would be put back inside their original doll body, because as much as I loved seeing Lachlan’s versions of them like really LOVED seeing those kids grown up, they were born a doll and they were always destined to return so they could feel whole again. That said, it felt really fucking rushed at the end there and I’m disappointed that that storyline is effectively over now, before it even got really started.
With Yellowjackets and Natalie’s death, I always knew she was destined to die. I predicted during like, my second or third watch that she was going to be Antler Queen (see @milf-lover42’s post about it) and to me, that was always a death sentence in the ‘21 timeline.
I’m not mad that she died, I’m not mad about how it happened, and I’m definitely not mad that it was effectively by Misty’s hand and that she died in Misty’s arms. None of that is what’s upsetting to me- it’s the TIMING.
I honestly think even one more episode to give space to draw out some of those more specific and intimate scenes would have been so much more satisfying, because to me, just like with Glen and Glenda, it was always destined to happen and I’m NOT MAD THAT IT HAPPENED, I just feel like it should have happened LATER after a little more narrative exploration.
Now, what I really will be mad about is if YJs3 gets fuckin,,,, Penny Dreadful-ed. Because that show has two really solid first seasons (first one is the best IMO, kinda how I feel about YJ too) and then it just totally fell apart at season three (and then was brought to an unsatisfactory ending because it got canceled due to budget cuts). PD is also a Showtime show too so I’m like. More than a little suspicious that we’re going to be put in the same sinking boat again.
I really am hoping, maybe beyond logic, that the Yellowjackets team keeps on track in terms of the character definition and narrative exploration that we had established in Season 1, and please god pick up some of those loose ends.
This is super niche but tbh felt really good to get out i don’t even care if it only makes sense to me and two other people it’s the truth lol

I wish that a lot of analysis of teru and mob weren't done within the confines of shipping them together, as it's distracting from the narrative about tsubomi driving mob's motivations overall; in all honesty i find it boring and uncreative to rip these characters of their context and feed a limited analysis of this series for the sake of temporary emotional satisfaction. I find it frustrating, because the entire series is spun around mob's adolescence and ultimately his ability to express and accept himself and his emotions, and overcome the fears he has built up regarding those things. Tsubomi is what sparks his entire character arc-- she's a huge part of the motivation he gets to improve himself every single day. He sees her and trusts her despite her initial impression to most people being that she's a jerk, because he understands and knows in his heart that she's strong-willed and focused. He admires her so greatly for her ability to live exactly as who she is and get what she wants from the world, and she represents every single thing that mob wants to become (something i feel is very transgender of him but i wont go into that right now). Mob's ENTIRE arc is centered around this one massive presence in his life that he's built up so so much, but because tsubomi is a female love interest, she is often disregarded in exchange for the gay ship of the week. She's an endlessly fascinating and unique character, and everything that he does to try and reach her is done of his own volition to better himself. Eventually he learns that pursuing a single person as the sole reason of self improvement isn't good for him, but she is the person that sparks his desire to get better and is the critical motivator of the series. However, I think that a lot of the same things can be said equally about teru. Personally i am of the opinion that teru is equally in love with mob as mob is tsubomi, and their motivations are the exact same. Mob to teru is someone that is unrelentingly kind, loved for who he is, a hard worker, very morally upright, and able to rely on others as they do them. Mob is everything that teru wants to be, and of course he admires that so deeply to the point of close obsession. All of this is so incredibly relatable to the experience of being a middle schooler: first loves (whether romantic or otherwise) are ones that completely change us as people. they form us into the beginning of ourselves, they're our first understandings of our interpersonal relationships and a very big foray into self awareness. Teru is so suddenly captured and affected by mob in a way that rocks him to his core. Of course mob becomes someone for whom he must chase after.
To take either of these ideas and start shipping them together, though, i find it kind of missing the point. romantic love is not always requited, and there's nothing you can really do about that except put in your best effort to be better for yourself and others around you, and keep moving forward with your life. Mob was never supposed to get the girl; it was supposed to show us that, no matter what hardships you will endure in your life interpersonally, there will always be people that love you to help you recover from them. You can always change and grow.

It's really physically painful to me how willing people are to overlook even the possibility of romance between women in fiction and also how much they simply do not admit that they have this resistance, and I know, I know, that's how it always is, I know that even in real life people will see pictures of women literally kissing on the lips and still say they seem like very good friends, and yet it never stops being so incredibly frustrating because it's so pervasive even from people who would consider themselves open minded or allies

three way make out session with obanai and mitsuri. muffling their soft moans with your lips. watching their tongues swirl together whilst their eyes are fixated on you. they’re greedy, pulling away from one another only to advance their lips on yours. and if you tug their heads back by the hair before your lips touch theirs they both whine, green and heterochromatic eyes all glossy and pitiful.

Who's your favourite f1 driver on the current grid and all time?
ooo okay currently, id have to say Yuki becuase I vibe with his humor the most, runner ups would be Charles, Carlos, Pierre, and Zhou but Valteri is quickly climbing the list
Previous drivers would definitely be Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel because they were some of the first drivers I really watched. And Seb is doing a lot of really cool stuff! Kimi, well oddly enough, I’ve adopted some of his ideas to fit my life and it’s helped my anxiety in some ways with school and such.

Reasons that you, esteemed Tumblr user, should be my mutual <3 (the heart is a part of the title)
-Do you wear round glasses? So do I! That obviously means we're the same person and should interact (if your vision is good ignore this for a sec [hello fellow poor sighted soul let's take over the world >:) as mutuals!]).
-Are you needlessly obsessed with the color lavender? This is a safe space. Is the color red in my URL? Yes. Irrelevant tho. Unless you like red. This is also a safe space for red lovers.
-now that I'm thinking about it if you like green and brown literally I'm blowing you a kiss rn
-Are you perpetually haunted by the fear that you won't be able to live a cottagecore lifestyle one day??? Are you afraid that the thatched roof and mushroom decor will never be there to comfort you? Same. We may need to pool our money together to make this happen.

Steve’s crawling backwards speech was code for the Upside Down’s mind time loop?
I know... I know. But hear me out.
There are already plenty of hints that the Upside Down is stuck in a loop. We know mind loops exist thanks to Terry and she just so happens to parallel Will very heavily within that loop (look at this post). So is the Upside Down in Will's mind loop? Steve sure thinks so.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this scene starts out with Robin saying they've seen one of the trees before. Pretty random thing to say to get Robin out of the way for an awkward stancy conversation... unless? They've seen this all before. This has happened already because there's a time loop! Nancy also brought up the hive mind for no reason. Seeing things again? Minds? Mind loop?
Tumblr media
Robin also says this. You know who actually got lost in the woods, the same woods they’re standing in during this scene? Will. So Will is brought into the mix here. Vecna is destroying the world because Will got lost in the woods… hm I wonder why.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Steve crawled backwards and got a thump on his head. What's 5x01 titled again? The Crawl?
Crawling backwards. Thump on the head. The Upside Down is in the past, it's crawling backwards. What did this cause? A thump to the head. And what does the thump cause? Change. Why? Maybe because the Upside Down is a head! Will changed the Upside Down when he got there… he thumped his mind.
ALSO Steve says he crawled backwards down a flight of stairs. Will’s body in the Upside Down was found downstairs in the library.
Tumblr media
The only thing Nancy really says during this conversation is stuff like "that doesn't make sense" or "that explains a lot" which is just... I don't know it feels like code for the time loop and mind theories being confusing but they also explain EVERYTHING! Ok and the constant use of head, brain, backwards. Why are they linking brain thumping to going in reverse? With all the time travel hints already laid out?
Tumblr media
GATE? Like the Upside Down gate? They're speaking to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Roundabout? So something that spins in a circle like a... loop. Got it. Also those damn carousels aka ROUNDABOUTS across from the Creel house and at Rink-O-Mania (look here and here). It all comes back to Will’s memories, doesn’t it?
Steve got the biggest thump of his head in 1984. That's the same year Will was possessed and now he has the Mind Flayer in his head. That's the head thump they're hinting at! Will's possession has something to do with the Upside Down being backwards, in reverse, in a time loop. Which we already knew. Will's head got thumped and went backwards.
Tumblr media
They aren't going the wrong way after all? So is the Upside Down still moving forwards, just in a roundabout loopy way instead? Is going backwards the right way to go to resolve the plot?
I've also said before that this whole conversation is representative of the characters returning to their s1 mindsets. Stancy revival, El's monster vs superhero dilemma, Max ending up in a coma because she wasn't there in s1, I could go on. But why? Why are they regressing? And at the same time they reveal the Upside Down is stuck in 1983 aka the year they're all regressing to? Very interesting.
They’re all moving backwards and they need another thump to the head to move on. Literally.

ASK AND YE SHALL RECIEVE
(Warning: absolutely no structure to this, this is a rant, this is “POV: you asked me what I thought of Sarah Hawkins while on my lunch break and I spent the entire lunch break rambling at you)
So, Sarah Hawkins. Let’s establish a few things about this woman that are very obvious: she is an exceedingly patient mother; she runs that inn almost entirely alone; Leland’s leaving hurt her just as much as Jim; she loves her son to the moon and back. Now let’s establish a few things that, while not explicitly stated, are kind of assumed: she built that inn herself out of her own home; she doesn’t resent Jim despite his selfish behavior; she fears for his safety, and that he’ll leave her the way Leland did.
According to the art book, Leland and Sarah settled there because the mining on Montressor was supposed to be pOPPIN’. That was Leland’s plan, to make money on Montressor. Plan SUCKED. But Sarah stuck with Leland for eight years, probably listening to his promises that he’d make it big and get them off this rock, and that he’d be home to stay one day. And then one day, he was gone, and he left her with their little Jimbo and that house. She was probably heartbroken, not just for Jim. Just watching her face in the flashbacks and the way she cried when he finally left, she loved that man (trash though he be). But what did she do?
She looked at her little boy, rolled up her sleeves, and turned her house into a way to support her little family. She planted a garden in the back, turned the other rooms into guest rooms; her own little kitchen into a place to make meals for guests, and hauled tables into the main space. She she did all of this presumably alone, maybe with Jim’s limited help (he was freakin 8) and maybe Doppler’s help, though I think they became friends a little later judging by the way he interacts and talks about Jim. From what we see, Sarah works all day and probably well into the night, still finding time to look after Jim and watch over her. And she did this for SEVEN YEARS. The entire time, watching her son slip away and become secluded and sullen and lose his spark. She probably tried to encourage him and prod him in the right direction, but every one of her efforts seemed to fail. STILL, she woke up every day and ran that inn and looked out for her kid. Never a word of complaint. The closest we get to hearing her “complain” is telling Jim that it’d be super great if he didn’t get himself arrested and add to her list of things to do. When she vents to Doppler, she says: “I’m at the end of my rope.” She doesn’t mean she’s fed up with running the inn. She means she’s run out of ideas for reaching Jim. She doesn’t care how much work she has to do, as long as it keeps Jim cared for and on the right path, but it doesn’t feel like she’s done enough or any of the right things.
Then the inn was burned down. Seemingly a freak raid, potentially brought in by Jim after he dragged some unsavory character inside. That was her ENTIRE life, built so carefully out of the rubble and tended for years, and it was burned to the ground in seconds. If any of that was gonna keep Jim steady, it’s gone now. The look of DEFEAT on her face after she looked back at it makes me wanna die every time. When Doppler puts that blanket around her shoulders and she just sits, not hearing anything he’s saying, refusing to look at Jim. WHAT’S SHE THINKING IN THAT SCENE?!? Is she angry with Jim? Just a little? Angry that he couldn’t just for once leave well enough alone?? Or does she think she FAILED??!!?! Like her last effort had been snuffed out and she’d failed Jim?! I hope not. But who knows.
AND WHEN SHE LET’S HIM GO ON THE JOURNEY?! You can tell that even after Jim promises that he’ll come back and make her proud, she isn’t truly convinced. You can tell she wants to be! She wants to believe that. That’s probably what Leland said to her. Jim’s probably made similar empty promises to turn it around in the past as well. She wants to believe this time it’ll be different, but she always believes that, and it never is. But she smiles at him and lets him go anyway, because maybe it will be. She loves him, and she knows she has nothing left to give him. Whatever it is that will help him, she doesn’t have it.
So then, Sarah is alone. Doppler is a bachelor. There’s no one else there for her to talk to. There’s no more inn, which was her life for seven years. No Jim, who was basically all she had for even longer. Now she’s just stuck in this observatory with nothing to do but wait. Maybe she even watched the stars through that massive telescope, wondering where Jim was, and if he’d come back. I’m not sure how long the journey was, but I’m assuming a few months (much shorter cuz of their instant zoom back). I wonder if she was surprised when she got notice of their return, and not just because of how fast it was. When we see her at the spaceport and she sees Jim, she genuinely looks surprised, even before he hugs her! How big had the part of her that feared he’d never come back become?! Either that he’d die out there or take for the distant stars like her scumbag husband.
BUT HE CAME BACK! For the first time in ages it’s her HOPES that are confirmed instead of her fears! And then when he hugs her—how many years had it been since he’d done that? You can see on her face that for the first time in forever, she knows everything will be okay. The weight come off her shoulders. The years of work are made worth it. She looks at him and he’s so different. Taller, a new shine in his eyes, a smile she hasn’t seen in years, but older. She sees that her boy is back and now he’s a young man who KEEPS his promises. Maybe whatever he needed was out there and not with her, but everything she did was exactly what she needed to do, even letting him go, and we see she knows it and it brings youth to her face. She had never failed—she’d done everything he needed.
AND THEN, SHE STILL RUNS HER INN! As a passion now! With that new inn Jim has built for her, she has a new life! She runs it with help, to keep giving that place to the community around her, safe and secure in the knowledge that she did good and will keep doing good.
Basically, Sarah Hawkins is a powerhouse. She is faithful, strong, persevering, clever, loving, and selfless. Never demanding anything for herself, only for her son, and receiving everything she could ever need in turn. She held on for the boy that needed her most, even when she feared she would be left behind for her troubles. She’s a wonderful person, and I wanna be like her.
The real treasure in Treasure Planet was Sarah Freakin Hawkins.

100% believe that Foggy would be obsessed with the movie legally blonde much to Matt's dismay. He may study law but he hates law movies. Foggy puts it on the list every movie night and Matt complains every time. To get back at Foggy Matt also puts a historic drama/period piece right after legally blonde and Foggy groans every single time. They do it for years even after they graduate from Columbia. When they start inviting other people to movie night they very quickly do not accept another invitation to movie night as to not deal with Matt and Foggy bickering like the old married couple they are. That is until they invite Karen over who just tells them that they have to pick something else. She's not here to sit through their little feud over movies and she just wants to relax. Both Matt and Foggy are absolutely taken aback at the sheer suggestion of diverting from tradition. Karen just rolls her eyes and calls Frank to back her up. Of course Frank is smart enough not to come over. Karen quickly just accepts her fate and starts bringing a book to movie night which nobody comments on lest they face Karen's smart assery and whit. In the end Matt can quote any line from legally blonde at any moment when asked and Foggy ends up collecting historical dramas that Matt might want to put on during movie night. He makes sure there are braille labels on the spines of the movies before they go on the shelf. And maybe they've added legally blonde 2 to the movie night list.
