She’s sounds like she’s from almost two generations above Dumbledore and she was still playing Quidditch ? Was she sitting in the stands? What kind of woman was she and how did she die ?

The answer is that secret fic has required @therealvinelle and I to make a hilariously detailed and notated Black family tree in order to keep track both of characters and family scandals. We needed an example of one of the relatives who does last forever (shockingly few of them as JKR had a purge of the entire goddamn family ~1980-1990 that's beautifully hilarious) and we needed a reason for her to have died.

We settled on Great-Great Grandmother Ursula Flint, married to Phineus Nigellus Black (the headmaster guy we see in the books), who we decided lasted until 1981 (good for her!) and so we thought sudden unsuspicious death in the wizarding world, could be a lot of things, eh she gets hit in the head in Quidditch. Which is to say she was most certainly playing.

Great-Great Grandmother Ursula was one of those little old ladies who lived forever and never seemed to run out of energy or the life to go out and do (sometimes inadvisable) things. She was one of those little old ladies who you want to be when you grow up, who just keeps on going even though her husband died sixty years prior, and is out there playing Quidditch with the rest of them. This unfortunately leads to her death when "an idiot beater" hits her not realizing that yes, he is playing against a little old lady and perhaps he should not go all out. She died as she lived. In glory.

The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black P2

So in the last post I made about the House of Black I talked mostly about every piece of information I know about the family as a whole. In this post I want to cover a little bit of the most famous witches and wizards to come out of the house of Black.

To start off with I feel it is important to re-mention that the house of Black has members in practically every family within the wizarding world and there are simply to many members to be able to talk about them all. So i'm going to talk about some of the less known members. I'm choosing to ignore the youngest generation I apologize.

The first member of the house of Black that I want to talk about is Artemisia Blackwood nee Black. Born in the 15th century to her mother a nameless member of the house of Black and her muggle father also nameless. Artemisia's birth was a complete accident made out of wedlock. Which combined with the fact that her father was a muggle you can imagine she wasn't very well liked within her family and was disowned upon birth. Despite her blood-status Artemisia was a firm believer in the pure-blood ways and despised anything and anyone having anything to do with muggles. Having this view point it is no surprise that she ended up marrying Eunon Blackwood, a muggleborn *sighs in logic*. They ended up having a daughter named Lysandra who was you guessed it, a squib. Lysandra would later disown her mother while Artemisia is being burned at the stake by witch hunters. So while god may not have favorites he does have least favorites.

Next up we have Phineas Nigellus Black born in 1847. Not much is known about his early life besides the fact that he was a Slytherin, and that he married his wife Ursula Flint sometime after graduating. Phineas is well known for being the worst Hogwarts headmaster ever. Some of my favorite things that he did is cancel quidditch for a single year not because of the goblin war that was currently going on but because his favorite pure-blooded Syltherin quidditch player got hurt playing it. In fact he believed the Goblin war to be just a rumor that was going around and remained ignorant for the entirety of the war. It got so bad that when the goblin leader invaded the school he didn't even show up leaving the staff and students to fend off the attack by themselves. Oh, but don't worry at least he removed the bell from the bell tower as it was causing him great distress when it rang because it reminded him of his wedding day, the poor guy.

Theodore Sallow was born in December 17, 1852. He is a prefect in Slytherin house, and though he hates being a prefect and feels his is bad at it (he kinda is), he is often the voice of reason. He can be unreasonable, however, when his friends are threatened. He comes from a long line of pureblood Aurors (the Sallow family), and it is an expectation that he will follow in the footsteps of his predecessors.

Phineas Orion Blackworth (1881-1965), original family disappointment

Second eldest son to Phineas Nigellus and Ursula (nee Flint), sorted into Hufflepuff House and close friend of Albus Dumbledore through the M.S.S. (later the M.V.F.). Originally quiet enough in his Muggle support, he remained closest to his brother Arcturus (1884-59) especially with their exchange years at Olympos Academy and college in Greece. In London, Phineas joined art museums but could never settle for a family.

Fleeing to aid the Muggles in the Great War at outbreak in 1914 ensured Phineas' disownment, where he fell in love with Muggle nurse Tiffany Meadowes. After the war, they moved to London as the Blackworth family and had two children: Castor (b. 1917) and Helen (b. 1919) though they later "adopted" their nephew Marius (b. 1916) in his adult years.

They had five grandchildren whom they cherished: Lysander (b. 1949), two Partridge girls, Rigel (b. 1951), and Dorcas (b. 1954) who later took the name Meadowes. They passed on the light of their restored name yet they still fought the tempting darkness.

In the Global Wizarding War, Phineas devotedly preserved art from the Germans in the Magical Free French. Though captured, he fought in the Battle of Nurmengard and was rewarded the Order of Merlin, First Class after the war. His legacy carries on in art, advocacy, and family as someone had to survive the terrible war against Valdemar.
