#yall I finally got some good fucking news #my grandma’s been in the hospital and was doing very bad and like #we thought the end was near #she improved and got discharged #things still aren’t great but it’s (hopefully) looking more like she has weeks or maybe even months rather than just a handful of days #she’s almost 92 and has late stage Alzheimer’s and the flu is what put her in the hospital but she beat it #yesterday was very stressful #my parents/uncles were all being incredibly vague and my cousins were reaching out for info from me since I’m the only local grandchild #trying to figure out if people several hours away need to drop everything and try to make it here to say goodbye while at work was uh #it was something #I had an emotional break down in the bathroom which was fun #my parents who normally use me as a punching bad were doing it to an even more extreme degree #they still are technically; I get it’s my dad’s mom and he’s hurting more but she’s my grandma and like #the whole way they’ve been treating is just… it broke something in me #relieved she’s okay for now but having to grapple with the fact that this is how they will treat me when it is her time is something #I am an frazzled emotional wreck from everything but she’s okay and that’s what matters in the end #I also had a video interview this afternoon which like #absolutely wild state of mind to be in to do an interview but it’s with a really good company so I didn’t want to cancel #guys #I got a second in person interview!#it pays good and it’s close by and the only thing I don’t like is that it’s second shift #but they said if I get the job I’ll eventually get the opportunity to switch to first shift so like #fingers crossed the next interview goes well #anyways all good news except for my parents being fucking assholes but #I am out of energy emotionally mentally and physically #was trying to keep myself together till the interview and now that it’s over I’m just very done #my anxiety is shot my brain’s checked out and all I wanna do is sleep #I was supposed to be off tomorrow but work called me in and I took the shift cause I need money #I think there is a very good chance that I crash very hard after work tomorrow #which fine

chapter 1 trial

#i think my biggest achievements in making these was being able to condense the trials into a few basic panels #each trial ended up needing more n more dialogue but seeing how long the in game trials are im pretty proud of myself #i only did ever sketch out the first three trials tho my sketches have taken me just up to the chapt 4 trial which i ever started at all #oh also i made sure to always keep the order of the characters in the trials true to the game #everyone is placed in the exact same 'seats' as they are in the real game #that was tough at times bc sometimes i wanted dialogue between characters who were nowhere near each other #but it was also a good opportunity to make me use characters i normally wouldnt have thought to use #and i couldnt just give dialogue to my favourite characters lol #and sometimes it worked out really well where the characters i wanted interacting did happen to be next to each other #sdr2 #super danganronpa 2 #ok here we go #hajime hinata #teruteru hanamura #mikan tsumiki #chiaki namani #nagito komaeda #peko pekoyama #is that everyone #mahiru koizumi #there we go #my art

The fact that Main-verse Ooo is as good and as kind as it is (relative to the other universes shown so far, at least, it's obviously not perfect) all because of the same character that starts off as the OG series' antagonist, the person we were made to see as the bad guy (albeit an often ineffectual one) for several seasons, is making me lose my mind.

Imagine finding out the guy you spent your childhood beating up and saving princesses from is in fact a driving catalyst behind you being able to exist, and not only exist but also live in a world that knows what kindness is. All because that man, the same man who you've witnessed do terrible things, once met a little girl and taught her how to be good.

Simon's story really shows us that even if you lose your way and forget how it is to be good yourself, the world keeps the memory for you. That act of love Simon showed Marcy by protecting her and seeing her as more than the monster she thought herself to be created ripples upon ripples, small at first but eventually enough to help give their wreckage of a world—a world that easily could have been forsaken, its goodness overlooked because of its inhospitable remains—a chance to grow into something beautiful. Because of those very same ripples Simon created, the people of Ooo grew up in a world where they know enough about kindness that they were able and willing to spare the 'bad guy' some, to see beyond the wreckage and allow him to grow too.

In saving Marceline, Simon helped to not only to save the world, but also himself.

That act of love and compassion is gonna save you ya dingus....eventually #In a less kind world finn and Jake could have watched those tapes about Simon and still decided IK was a hopeless cause.#That he was too far gone to be saved. But they didn't. They chose to treat him nicer and actually be friends with him.#One thing i always loved about IK's story is that he didn't have to completely change himself for people around him to treat him better #They changed their perspective and were kind to him and it was THAT that helped him change. to grow beyond the 'antagonist' role #to quote my go to and all time favourite good place quote:#'the point is people improve when they get external love and support. How can we hold that against them when they don't?'#Arrgh sorry I just always loved Ice King's arc in the show. From pesky antagonist to the person Finn dived into a chaos god to save #(the world's new beginning and its near ending being all because of simon. he has such main character energy and boy does he not want it)#And now we're getting Simon stuff and I'm so normal I'm so normal I'm so normal (<- has never been normal about this character)#(i...i have many MANY drawings of ice king and simon from 2015 and the years after. i was doomed from the start. F&C was the final straw)#(as was reading marcy's secret scrapbook recently...and here i thought i'd truly reached the capacity of hurt i can feel about these two)#Going insane over these last two episodes. 'she didn't have a me'. Fionna and Simon bonding. Gumlee kiss. PETRIGROF BACKSTORY #and the implication that Simon isn't remembering it accurately? Their sweet sounding love song actually foreshadowing their issues?#I am clawing at the walls. thank you AT crew you are enriching the enclosure that is my brain

this is it, isn’t it? Gideon calls herself out and lays bare something this entire series has been built on: love as consumption, as sacrifice, as a fucking forest fire and a nuke: "you have not yet seen the horrors of love"

Gideon dies for Harrow because she thinks it’s all she can do. Harrow sacrifices her selfhood and her mind and every memory of Gideon, because she cannot conceive of a universe without her. Camilla and Palamades die for each other because they cannot bear to be apart, the idea of the perfect love twisted into a mutual death. John loves the world so much that he ate it. destruction and revenge and cannibalism as the ultimate expressions of devotion.

the D in devotion stands for dead.

and obviously, that is all incredible and extremely thought provoking and sexy, but..... Kiriona names the one avenue of love that this series has not yet really explored: what if you lived for someone instead of dying for them.

i’m thinking of Abigail and Magnus, in the river bubble, telling Harrow to live for Gideon instead of dying for her. i’m thinking about how Ianthe loves Coronabeth so much and refuses to eat her, refuses to consume her, leaves her abandoned and sobbing but alive. i’m thinking about Blood of Eden’s founding protocol, the one that supersedes all others: the order to live.

Kirona has named it, but how does she earn it -- how does Harrow earn it? narratively speaking. anyway... even if AtN doesn’t end up exploring this i am turning it all around in my head.
