ok as i said repeatedly, my biggest problem with Inazuma rewrite is that I can’t figure out how to make Signora death be good or at least make sense, but I’m realizing its useless to try fitting square peg into a round hole when the perfect option for it already exists. Signora has nothing to do with Inazuma, thematically, narratively or in any sense. She just should not be here at all.

If we have to to write Signora’s death, it should OBVIOUSLY be in Venti’s second story quest set in Mare Jivari, a place referenced in venti’s first quest, “sea of ashes where the wind does not blow.”

she became crimson witch bc she lost loved ones in cataclysm, was angry and disappointed in barbatos for not protecting Mond and those she became powerful enough to do it herself, at the cost of becoming a monster. Before fatui recruited her, she was hunting down demons and never hurt innocents, despite ppl being afraid and ungrateful to her. her first appearance in the game is confrontation with venti. this is her theme.

traveler and venti should be in here with some mond expedition or whatever, diluc should also be there due to Crimson Witch Parallels and also bc there is apparently a phoenix in Mare Jivari and thats thematic for them both. mb signora and venti both trying to get phoenix, idk whats the plot is, the important thing is that signora and venti are confronting each other again and hurling insults, mb there is a boss fight with her

but later like corrupted beasts or whatever attack mond expedition and signora is at first gleeful, she laughs when venti and co are fighting, but then like Uber Lava Dragon or smth shows up and beats venti up and its clear that it will destroy the expedition if not stopped. and there are just normal simple mond ppl there, terrified. and on paper all signora has to do is just let this happen, have her revenge on barbatos, achieve her goal, win and leave

but! she became crimson witch precisely bc of the situation like this! deep down, underneath it all, she is not just a fatui agent, she is a woman who wanted to protect mond when its god failed to do that. so she curses, yells about useless vermin god and steps up to fight the beast.

she defeats him, but is mortally wounded. as she’s dying, venti comes up to her. souls of people who die in Mare Jivari are trapped, because this is the place where the wind does not blow. but today there is a single breeze here.

i never asked for your forgiveness, signora says to venti proudly as he starts glowing with the divine light

i know, he smiles, you don’t need to.

he takes her soul as she dies like he did with stanley’s in his 1st quest, bc barbatos was never a warrior god, he was a bard, an inspiration for ppl to rise up and fight for themselves and then a storyteller to keep the memories of these fighters. and today a story of another protector has joined the fold.

YALL it’s okay to not like a birthdaygate or to be disappointed when it ends up playing out bc you didn’t want it to happen in the first place or bc you’ve been insisting for the last year it wouldn’t happen.

But seriously, don’t waste your energy telling other people to not get their hopes up bc they’ll just be disappointed. We’re all responsible for our own emotions. That’s not something you should be concerned about.

Everyone should worry about themselves instead of projecting that doubt onto other people bc it makes them feel better.

If someone has a theory you don’t like, and it’s talked about enough in the tag that it bothers you, to the point of wanting to mute certain words or block people, then that’s a boundary you’re making for yourself and I applaud you for being self aware enough to make your feed look the way you want.

But I seriously cannot count how many times bylers have been bitter talking down on other byler’s theories, that they’re only talking down on in the first place because they don’t like them, while putting up the guise they’re just warning ppl that are setting themselves up for disappointed.

Like no shit. That’s a possibility for everyone.

I personally will be okay if my theories don’t play out. I’ll get over it. It’s a tv show. And I’m just one fan out of millions. I’m not naive enough to think it’s going to cater to my every thought and analysis.

If I was super dissapointed with s5 as a result of my theories being completely wrong, at the worst I would wait a few days to process it and then move on. I wouldn’t be on here posting my resentments.

Y’all know post-Vol 2 I was one of the few fans still posting about hope and also pre vol-2 I talked about how a lot of the stuff bylers theorized for the end of s4 was likely not to happen until s5 bc they’re saving it for the end.

I’m a realist. But I’m also an optimist. And I don’t see a problem with having fun during hiatus, knowing there’s a good chance I’m wrong about things. Bc that’s inevitable.

If you find yourself having to condescendingly talk down on other people, telling them they’ll be disappointed, insisting that you’re just looking out for them... The call is coming from inside the house! You’re already disappointed and you’re making it other peoples’ problem, when it’s currently yours to get over at the moment.

Let ppl have fun and if they’re wrong that’s their problem. Not yours!!

hi my love! do you have any writing tips? and words of encouragement when fics flop :(

hi darling <3 i feel like i always suck at giving writing tips but i'll try my very best for you ok. i hope some of these help! also very honored you'd even ask me 🤎

first and foremost: don't compare your writing to anyone else. everyone writes different, everyone has a certain style, a niche. if you're worried you don't have a 'style' don't, because you do. everyone does. it's not something you can make yourself have or take from others, it comes naturally with how your brain works and how it curates words and prose and scenes. that's why no book, no writing, is ever the same even if it's the same source material. it's a beautiful thing so don't stress about trying to make your writing sound or 'read' like other writers. it'll only ruin the enjoyment of how you write!

if you want to write more detailed just remember that not everything in a scene needs to be put down. the more you give the reader room to fill in the blanks and set the scene themselves the better experience for them (at least that's the case for my brain, others may feel different, but doing it this way makes me feel like i'm not adding too much detail or being repetitive). but visualizing, setting the scene for yourself through music or daydreaming is another great tip to write more detailed.

when it comes to smut i am a huge stan of you don't have to say the anatomically correct part they're using (like the p words or c word), and describing what it feels like to have that part touched, grazed, etc is really great. i struggle with fear of repeating myself so i try to find creative ways to describe body parts without actually calling them like flowery/nouns/different synonyms. i hope that made sense lmao.

don't worry about edits or making everything flow completely well in the first take. i highly rec everyone editing their own work and reading it back to themselves, yes it's tiring but it helps you find flow mistakes, add more detail, take something out that you thought fit in the moment but doesn't really. that's why i get everything out the first get go in a kind of fever dream manner and then when i go back to edit it then i buff out everything, add more, take away something, add more details that will make a scene pop off more.

now for the encouragement when it comes to flops: it's going to happen. there's no secret to making something do amazing or something failing. there really isn't and someone who says there is has just had a few lucky posts. because having a big following means nothing, writing a long fic, a short one, only using small font, being super aesthetic, really means nothing. i've seen writers with the most amazing aesthetic and beautiful prose with 100 followers write something and get 2k notes and then get 90 notes on their next post. same with someone who doesn't have a big aesthetic but a big following and writes short fics get 100 notes on their last ten posts but then that eleventh post randomly gets 1k. like it's really just up in the air on here if something is going to do good or not, unfortunately. so that's why i don't let it get to me when something i post gets 100 notes or 1k because i'm happy with both, less, or more. i don't expect anything anymore because that only leads to disappointment and i'm here to write and to have fun.

that's not to say i don't rec curating your own little community on here. make friends, block ppl with bad vibes, join discords of supportive friends. talk to writers who encourage and understand your feelings and discourse and who keep you going, give you inspo, etc etc. if only my friends ever rbed and read my stuff and there was only 10 of them? i'd say hell yeah and that'd encourage me to write more. having a good space of friends and community is amazing and can do a lot to fight off the writer scaries and the feelings of obsessing over numbers and success.

now this is just something i do but it always works for me; i post something and then force myself not to look at it for a day or two. i post it and move on to the next thing i want to work on. i do not dwell on how it's doing. i may q up some rbs for it but i don't even look at the notes when i do that. i deliberately never look at it because yes while it matters in the sense that we love encouragement, we love seeing people love something we spent hours on, we wrote this for ourselves but hello we want that validation too and that's okay, but like i said above and i'm going to say again notes mean nothing in regards to talent. these notes are not simon cowell judging you on your performance. so when i finally do go back to rb comments and reply to things, or if i just want to look at how it did, and the number is low i'm just like ok shrug at least those 20 people enjoyed it and that's better than 0. and if no one commented or rbed yeah that sucks and is disheartening but i can either dwell and be sad on it or i can continue to do what i love and write more. why let the annoying little brats on here who refuse to show their love on a work they read get you down? because there's a dozen of them out there and they're not going away. and you may have made someone's day for this little fic even if they didn't say something about it. it does suck that content creators on here don't get the rbs and comments and credit they deserve, and unfortunately if you want to keep doing what you love you gotta work around it and remind yourself why you're creating, continue to feel that joy. it's hard, believe me. but don't let your creativity be repressed because of it, because you'd be doing a disservice to yourself!

i'll say it again though: a high note count / following doesn't mean the fic is good or bad, neither does low notes / no following. no one's talent is ever in question here. we are here to write, have fun, fill the void of the rl scaries.

unpop bllk opinion: Chigiri having his arc so soon was fine because his issue wasn't as complex as the other characters issues. Most of the other Bllk boys have issues where they feel like they have to prove themselves to be worthy, but Chigiri had already entered Blue Lock with a lot of self confidence in his abilities so his problem didn't involve that. He struggled with trying to find a reason to keep going because he already knew he was good at the game, not with "Am I worthy enough to even be here?" and that's also kinda why isagi was really harsh to him during their conversation.

And anyways, I just feel like if they built Chigiri's mystery up until a much later point, the pay off just wouldn't have been worth it compared to all the other issues everyone else is facing or whatever. Like it'd be disappointed to wonder what's going on Chigiri if we learned about it like...after we learned about Bachira or Reo or Nagi.

So I kind of get why he was the first we got to learn about since his issue isn't as complex and is pretty short (less writing involved and all that)

I do hope we get to see him score more goals in the future though, and I get why ppl think he's kinda boring now (because the curtains been unveiled and now he's just there lol)

Hmm… perhaps the word “early” is not right. When I say “early” when referring to Chigiri’s arc, I simply mean that we didn’t see enough of him pre-development. Chigiri’s arc involves a big personality change, and for that to feel impactful, the audience must first be invested in the previous personality. However, Chigiri’s mysterious/quiet side was only shown to us for a while. It was then quickly dismissed before the audience could get curious about him.

Like, there has to be suspense first. We get to appreciate something more if it’s done gradually and not all of a sudden.

Look at other character arcs involving a personality change: Eren from Attack on Titan, Leo from Pandora Hearts, and even Mob from MP100. Their stories are completely different and shouldn’t be compared with Chigiri’s, but I want to point out here that their personality change was so stark that people couldn’t help but reminisce about their previous personality. But for Chigiri, there’s none of that. It’s as if his mysterious side never even existed.

And since Isagi’s the protagonist, through whom we get to know other people’s stories, there should have been more interactions between him and Chigiri before the latter’s arc. You have to expect at least that for a character set as one of the main four in this series.

But before the set-up for Chigiri’s arc (which started when he and Isagi watched that footage together), we don’t even see them talking to each other. Nor have we seen Isagi at least commenting about Chigiri in his head. A simple thought of “why is this guy so uncooperative” would have been enough. Or, the author could’ve let Isagi respond to when Chigiri said that Ego shouldn’t be completely trusted, or at least let Isagi think about his words in his head.

Even better, we could’ve had a scene of Isagi complaining about Chigiri taking too long to get to their meetings, and then cue in a panel of Chigiri actually taking care of his injury without anyone in Team Z knowing. That would’ve made the audience curious: Is he injured? How bad is it? That could’ve also built indignance among the audience! Shut up, Isagi. You really don’t know what he’s going through.

Or, if they want to make the injury less obvious, maybe just show a panel of Chigiri doing his stretches.

Like, there are so many ways that the author could’ve built up Chigiri while still having his character arc as early as in the First Selection. But they didn’t do that. Yukimiya’s backstory got more build-up, and he’s not even one of the main characters.

I get what you mean though that Chigiri’s arc being revealed after Bachira’s, Reo’s, or Nagi’s would make it less impactful. But as for his backstory not being too complex, I disagree.

I mean, look at Barou. His backstory is much more simple. Like Chigiri, he also came to Blue Lock already confident. His backstory is simply that he was put on a pedestal since he was young and it got into his head. But part of the reason Barou’s arc feels more satisfying is because we see a lot of him pre-development. We see him interact with Isagi several times in the First Selection, and we see him exchange insults with Nagi in the Second Selection. We, the audience, got so much of him that we started to find him annoying, so when his arc came, it was a big fucking finally.

If Chigiri were just any other side character, maybe I wouldn’t care much. But since he’s being set up as one of the main four, I really expect more of him.

Someone on Twitter also mentioned how Chigiri was a victim in the Germany vs England match. There was only one chapter about him, and then it was as if he wasn’t part of the story. His character was sidelined to make way for the intersecting stories of Nagi, Reo, Yukimiya, Isagi, and Kaiser. Chigiri was like an extra who just appeared once in a while to show a cool move or two. His story no longer affects the plot.

It’s such a shame though because his character has so much potential. I really hope the author can turn things around

Alright. So I finally watched Night at the Museum 1 and 2 and I'm not emotional you're emotional.

What a weirdly specific thing for the tablet to do. Instead of just keeping them alive it just...brings everything to life. Like, no wonder he got himself banished. You think that's why he got banished? Osiris shows up and just goes, "You did what? Why would you do this thing in particular? What....Just why?"

He was like “ok well, if someone gets attacked at night they’ll need extra strength and energy to defend themselves… and maybe we can make the statues come to life too to help protect them… and let’s bring dead ppl back too while we’re at it. Bc what if u die? What if they unfairly died? We have to cover all our bases.” It has the vibes of an idea that originally made some sense but then he kept adding crazier and crazier things to it until it was totally different from the goal he was trying to achieve lol

I suppose the statue/inanimate object thing kinda makes sense from a cultural point of view? They had ushabtis and other statues that were supposed to come to life and help you in the afterlife and had a lot of apotropaic statues like the sphinx that were supposed to ward off bad luck/evil spirits. So making them all actually come to life isn’t too much of a stretch in terms of trying to protect ppl

In the third movie they have a whole bunch of tablet lore that explains why it happened from a human/worshiper point of view but it still makes no sense from a god point of view lol The third movie is also set in the British Museum so there is actually potential for them to run into our favorite gift shoppist.

If the system met the museum gang here’s how I think it would go down.

Honestly, Larry would not be surprised that they’re a superhero avatar for the moon god. He would just be like “ok great. I’ve seen weirder, I can handle that.” The museum exhibits would probably not be phased by moon knight either bc they’re already so unique and different from each other they would be like “another weird new friend, great!”

Marc would not be surprised but very disappointed lol Larry would explain their situation and the tablet and he would just sigh and put his head in his hands while mentally cursing khonshu out. He’s not surprised he would do smth like this, just so tired of Khonshus bs lol

Jake would ask to try Larry’s flashlight out and wouldn’t be as invested as marc and Steven in the magic side of things. I can see him making friends w the exhibits tho and just chilling w them. I think Attila and Teddy would be his favorites.

And now Steven. Oh Steven. Steven would lose his fucking shit. This would be the best day of his life, including the tomb and the pyramid of Giza. He might straight up faint when he finds out abt Ahk. He’s squealing louder and louder at Larry’s introductions of all the exhibits bc this is so much firsthand knowledge abt these time periods, he could solve so many mysteries of history, and then they get to Ahk and it’s fantastic. There’s a real life pharaoh standing a few feet in front of him and he can talk to him and ask questions and just exist in the same space as him… and he collapses. As soon as he comes to again, he’s asking questions and talking everybody’s ear off. Some ppl are more inclined to humor him than others (like Teddy would be more than happy to talk abt himself as opposed to jed who would just be confused and walk away). Either way, Steven is living his best life rn.

Steven would have also been useful in the second natm movie lol He could read the hieroglyphics on the tablet and realized the answer was pi in a matter of minutes. He could have spared Larry a lot of grief lol

I’ve thought a lot abt what would happen if Larry was the night guard at the British museum the night Marc destroyed the toilets. Probably at first he would assume that Marc was the main threat since he wouldn’t be able to see the jackal, but he’s smart and would quickly figure out that he was fighting smth even more dangerous. Idk how much of a help he would be but he would certainly try his best; maybe trying to distract it or dumping paint on it so it’s a more visible target or using the true and tested game of fetch method (I mean, jackals are just dogs right?). He would find a way to help and then figure out what Marc’s deal is lol

But I think Larry and moon knight could be a really good duo tho. Moon knight helps him w problems w the tablet, translating any languages he hasn’t learned yet, and giving more historical context to things that Larry wouldn’t be able to find on the internet. In return, Larry lets them hang out w the exhibits and points out Khonshus bullshit for them lol I feel like he’s very good at seeing through ppls lies and setting clear boundaries which is smth that Marc is not always the greatest w lol

You deserve so much better than that!! Holy HELL I couldn't fathom how royally fucked up that must have been

:( thank u. luckily i was only 2 people away from the barrier, so i was able to get out almost immediately. it just makes me so mad bc this crowd was full of selfish pieces of shit who had zero regard for the life safety wellbeing and sanctity of human lives. like, yes, i understand it’s a rock concert and ppl are gonna get shouldered and shoved out of the way if they don’t plant themselves like a tree and don’t let ppl push in front of them. you might even get a foot to the head when someone’s crowd surfing (not ok but crowdsurfing is very common at rock concerts so it’s kind of to be expected). but being CRUSHED by a crowd of people is on a whole other level of fucked up BAD concert etiquette. security & EMTs were literally yelling at people to make pathways because ppl wouldn’t move to let them in cuz they’re too worried about losing their spot near the stage than the person passed out and trapped behind them. the EMTs ended up having to jump the barrier into the crowd because ppl wouldn’t just move over for less than 2 fuckjng minutes so the medics could get in & out.

not to mention, my situation happened BEFORE mcr even got on. once it was mcr’s turn, the first initial surge forwards towards the stage occurred (another expected thing at concerts). but this surge was so forceful that people were being literally swept up off their feet and carried/pushed forward. it got so bad that after the first song, gerard literally had to stop between every. song. and tell the crowd to take a step back. around the 4th song they started turning the lights onto the crowd to look for injured people as gerard directed everyone to move so security and EMTs could make paths into the crowd. and this continued between every. song.

there was barely any time for gee’s lighthearted and playful bantering with the crowd because he was so fucking worried about keeping everyone safe. you could hear it in his voice how hard he was trying to calm everyone by talking slowly and smoothly, as if the crowd was a bunch of fkcing toddlers because that’s exactly how they were behaving bc they couldn’t control their damn selves so gerard had to be the one to fucking parent them. less than halfway through the set, the band walked off and the production manager had to come on stage and said that he couldn’t let the band back out here if the crowd didn’t step tf back like gerard had been telling to them multiple times.

it was just so upsetting and disappointing and overall disheartening because you could just tell that none of the guys were having fun. seriously, after the first song, there were zero smiles from any of them, even between songs. i think i heard gee kinda laugh/giggle once in the very beginning but it was nothing like his genuine lighthearted ‘having fun’ laughter. and i don’t fkcin blame them for wanting to just focus on finishing the set and end the show so the chaos would end and people would stop getting hurt. literally between every song, MULTIPLE people were being pulled out of the crowd at a time had to be carried away on wheelchairs or stretchers. it’s literally so fucking embarrassing and shameful that so many people chose to be that stupid/selfish as to completely disregard gee’s pleas for safety every damn song. I’m not exaggerating when i say this crowd was horrible for both the people in it & for the band to deal with.

seeing the netflixvania posting im so fucking sorry. ive yet to watch it (will suffer through it with my friend who, like myself, is also a long time castlevania fan) and this is like. seeing a forest go up in flames and deciding to walk in anyway.

My netflixvania posting is but a crumb compared to all the shit I got stored in my brain but if I started rambling it would never end (except I am gonna ramble a lil bit now) spoilers (?) incoming.

Let me just say that the first 2 seasons of netflixvania were actually pretty good, I loved the final fight in season 2. It was FINE, it ended on a decent note, opened the door for the other Belmonts to step in etc etc........and that's not what they did at all. They just HAD to make 2 more fucking seasons and those had MAJOR issues between the severe mischaracterization of Hector and Alucard (I COULD GO ON AND ON ABOUT HECTOR ALONE) and disgusting unnecessary SA scenes...it was fucking abysmal. And you know what? It hurt to watch like genuinely. Everything that could have gone wrong in a show did go wrong. I liked Isaac's story, Sypha and Trevor were fine. But the horrible writing could not hold the show together at all. I was RELIEVED when it ended but OOPS SORRY!!!! AT THE VERY END THEY LET DRACULA PASS ON WITH HIS WIFE!!!!!!!! HEEHEE!!!!! HOOOHOO!!! Let me ask you a question. Walk with me here, friend. What is the story of castlevania? Who are they fighting? If you answered Dracula, then you're correct.

I'm not saying you have to keep resurrecting the same villain over and over again, HOWEVER. Dracula is a ginormous part of Richter's story. THAT'S THE WHOLE THING!!! BELMONTS VS DRACULA!!!! AND THEN ALUCARD WAKES THE FUCK UP AND IS LIKE AW SHIT THE CASTLE IS BACK!!!! They literally locked themselves out of TWO storylines!!!!! There will be no rondo, no symphony. They are using the characters in name ONLY. and it fucking BLOWS. I was actually somewhat excited to see the new series, I wanted to see Richter really bad he's my GUY....and then the reality set in and I'm wait a minute....NO...NOOO NOOOOOO!!!!!! bc I knew in my heart they were gonna fumble and fuck up severely. And they ARE! I am THREE episodes in and I have felt NOTHING, the show just isn't doing it for me. The pacing is fucking weird, dialogue feels unnatural sometimes, and the overall story is just.. meh. Especially with Richter. If Annette was the only main character, I wouldn't be so disappointed bc her part is really the only one that matters, it's clear she has more of a focus put on her instead and THATS OKAY! but for us Richter fans it feels so empty, he as a character in this show feels like fucking wet cardboard. They're giving him NOTHIN. That's not him at all. It feels off everything feels wrong. The first episode was the worst so far. There was no set up, no slow pacing, just them going from plot point to plot point like they were checking off a list. Let's see the act and everybody's getting their ass kicked nobody's doing anything the light cycle thing fell apart completely but we're in the competition for the superbike race in the super bike race we should say we made a lot of tommy f ppl. They blabbed a lot and we're not impressed but didn't know what to say so he kept saying stuff. Huge huge battalions of theirs start pouring in to try and apprehend us and the foreigners the foreigners are ready and we're ready in Italy and yes it starts off and it's Angels and demons and the other movie by Justin Tom Hanks. It's a wonderful show what is putting on but it's very meaningful to us and disrespecting us for helping him because he was in awe when he was a child he saw what it's really like and it's amazed then he was confused by it but still it worked very well tomorrow's show in Italy is no second rate show it's a huge race now everybody on Earth is going to be watching his gigantic everyone's nervous including you and me and we've been around forever we finally said something this is what it's like for him a lot and he's not that great of an actor doesn't have that much skill and support is not what it used to be but it's more but he's having trouble and his body is getting beat up so we figured out what to do we need to help you and that was proof and you finally got us to do it and we said this we got to do it more and in there and we got to do it now so we start moving in businesses and these people have tons of that stuff I hope it's illegal weapons and we're moving out too to come here but this race is intense the super bike race I've got my bike and it's big and it's the same cc's but it's high performance and high pressure it revs up to about 15,000 RPM and they thought I made way too much noise so they checked the cc's had us take it apart and it's true and they measured it with my kilometers in with the computer and then with lasers and also my heart started sinking cuz I had this look on their face and they're disappointed doesn't matter and just by fraction and we said that's pretty accurate huh and they said yes so your test is accurate too so close to what it really is but then again there was somewhere I hurt my son say and I said it's probably right on the money because there's somewhere the laughing and it says it accounts for that and all of a sudden they started bursting out laughing so you're those people were always looking for the super people and we said I don't think so we're a foreigners and we're here to race and they laughed and said will and Bill I said not them but close so that's what they sound like and we're signed up for the race we qualified and we made the qualifier run you have to race around the course in a certain time and we looked awesome they said most of us were in and around the same time they usually do you're a little bit ahead of it and so we have to watch that one he seems reckless and it wasn't Brad and we're going ahead with the signing on and if the race starts tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. and a practice race is before that at 9:30 I believe and we probably be in that too although lot of people just goof off and stuff some people race but we don't want to turn it into a full blown race so we're going to go around and race and see what they're all about and we see it from a distance and you've raced with them before and you tried calling last time and we're too nervous because nobody else was there and it made sense you see how it is it's like joining a police squad with all those other cops it would be very weird awkward wrong and you have to depend on those two ladies who can't defend themselves would feel overconfident would probably say stupid s*** and it happens

Thanks for being reasonable about the us thing, I'm not into beeduo but casually follow ranboo and tubbo individually and have been confused on why there is a freak out or ppl saying they(mainly ranboo) actually lied. I guess a lot of beeduo enjoyers are young? Because not much has really changed and everything ranboo said is still v much true. Ranboo is going back early and he is still v sad about that. Tubbo and ranboo aren't going to the us 'together', ranboos has to go back home and tubbo has to go for business somewhere entirely different. They aren't staying together, and tubbo is still working it out so not even 100%. Tubbo just happened to decide to announce his trip today too but its not connected, ranboo said he didn't even know tubbo would reveal his trip plans today. He said they might meet up once at least because they are a little close but yeah. This isn't like a set 'content' thing. Like u said not telling ppl to not be 'excited' but always feels like stans put words into ccs mouths/read too much into things/interpret wrongly and then get disappointed. But the fact of the matter is that Tubbo is (likely, based on the context we have) not going to America specifically to make content - it'll be like something he does on the side. And, anyway, Ranboo and Tubbo just spent the last few months living together. It would be a perfectly normal and fine thing for them NOT to want to spend every moment together in America too.

I guess the basic thing to remember is that this is not a beeduo America trip, it's Ranboo's trip home and Tubbo's trip to the US. If they hang out while they're there that's amazing! But if not it's fine. Ranboo isn't obligated to put other things on hold to make content with Tubbo while he's in America with him, and Tubbo isn't obligated to do so either. We just need to keep in mind that they're separate people, and give them a bit more of a chance to reveal their plans before we jump to conclusions abt it :)

siblings are rarely alike in ways that truly matter, but a similar upbring does set a foundation that almost always remains the same. we see this best in pat and pha, in how the main obstacle to their discovery of love lied in their heteronormative upbring. for both of them, the only thing that holds them back from realizing they're in love with their love interests, is the fact that they've never even considered attraction to the same-sex a possibility.

i've seen some ppl interpret this with worry about pha not taking this well but the only thing i saw in her expression was gay yearning. it's like the first time an lgb kid sees a same-sex relationship, watches these people so happy and comfortable and in love, and this almost painful, inexplicable craving flares up inside of you. it's written all over her face.

lets talk: popular iwwv criticism

(disclaimer: i know criticism is subjective and thats why im doing this, i wanna look at some common points made against iwwv and dissect them just a little bit in the opposite direction. also none of this is directed at any individual- it’s all based on the general talking points i’ve seen surrounding the book.)

lack of exploration into james and oliver (+ gay characters feel performative)

i’ve seen loads of people say that oliver and james’ relationship felt very performative, a way of including the queer romnce which clearly is very important to the plot but not actually giving it any space in the novel, nor developing it to the same extent which meredith/oliver was.

oliver and meredith had a very strictly physical relationship and while he did love her, he wasn’t in love with her the way he was with james. the juxtaposition in the way that oliver/james is delivered and the way meredith/oliver is delivered is, i believe, far too repetitive to not be intentional. i actually realised upon re-reading how much focus there really is on meredith’s sexuality, even in subtleties in the book. meredith and oliver get more blatant sex scenes, get more physical parts because oliver was (to an extent) using his attraction to meredith to distract himself from his infatuation with james.

we also have to remember that oliver and james didn’t get their real moment of honesty about their relationship till extremely late into the book. i’d honestly see it as more ‘performative’ to then after or in the middle of kind lear throwing in some wild sex scene between the two. it wouldn't have fit.

“why didn’t james and oliver get together earlier then >:(((“ because the slow burn between them, the subtext, the subtle-ness, the yearning, they were all crucial to the decision which oliver made at the end. the fact that they burned so bright for each other but (oliver particularly) were so desperately repressed, that was what made this such a tragic romance. yes its tiring to read stories about queer people being repressed, yes its tiring to see the bury your gays trope. but like oliver says, it goes beyond gender.

if oliver’s second love interest was a girl, and treated this way, we’d be a lot more on board with these tropes- but the fact that james is a man, and this therefor becomes a queer relationship, makes it feel performative. i can’t convince you of anything- but i like to believe that their relationship being treated like this not only makes it so much more “heart wrenching because why! why couldn’t it work out, why couldn’t it be better!” - not because its a queer relationship but because they were soulmates.

alexander wasn’t performative. not in the slightest, rio just didn’t make being gay his entire identity. same goes for colin. just because they’re queer doesn’t mean it needs to be the only thing about them. this isn’t a lgbt novel- characters dont have to be gay just for plot. they can just be gay.

i’ve also seen people complain about not just making oliver bisexual. guys. did you read the book? he was bisexual. he was emotionally and physically attracted to both meredith and james. guys that’s literally what bisexual means.

i'm totally on board with the coming out scenes! and realisation of feelings and all that stuff- but again, not an lgbt centric novel and also- these were things oliver probably did and realised far before this book. remember that its set in 4th year, at an art school. he knew he was fruity ok. not every queer character in every queer book have to have these grandious coming out scenes or realisations. the lack there of doesn’t equal performance.

the ending was rushed and bad

believe what you will, but i don’t think james is dead. there’s a little too much ambiguity in that ending, in the extract he leaves oliver, in the “his body was never found.” so if your main quarrel with the ending is that “bury your gays” situation- please know there’s a chance- and that giving it that chance opens up so much more discussion and reader response.

yes, the ending is sad. but it’s not rushed. “but that is how a tragedy like ours or king lears breaks your heart- by making you believe the ending might still be happy until the very last second.” doing king lear, doing macbeth, doing romeo and juliet, the plays are chosen not only for reader convenience (they’re plays readers will most likely be familiar with) but also because they all, so very deeply, foreshadow a “bad” ending. killing james, makes sense. as much as people don’t want to hear it, from an authorial perspective- from the reader’s perspective and as a human being it makes sense. why do keep arguing that he “should’ve stayed alive for oliver” or that “if he really loved oliver he wouldn’t have done it” - why are we limiting a character’s entire existence down to their love interest. yes, they were best friends, yes they were set up as lovers but that doesn’t mean that that would be enough to keep james around. james was a fragile character- he was always checking with oliver if he had upset him, he was always worried, overthinking, james wasn’t strong minded- and he was suffering. the only person he had left to depend on was in prison, he was plagued with the guilt of causing the death of a classmate and letting oliver take the blame, if he did kill himself, it sure as hell doesn’t have any reason to sound forced.

“its not nearly as good as the secret history!!!!”

to be honest here buds, why the fuck do we keep comparing them so insistently. they are not the same book. iwwv wasn’t trying to be tsh 2.0, yes there are similarities because hey! guess what! books in similar genres tend to do that! always comparing it tsh when they have different motives, different plots and vastly different execution makes no sense. the only reason that they are compared is because tumblrtm dark academics like to group the two together. and yea- makes sense, but stop trying to belittle iwwv because it isn't as grandiose as tsh, because it’s a little more literal, because it’s not as intertextual as tsh. half the people saying iwwv isn’t as good as tsh are practically just subtly going “shakespeare isn’t as complicated as ancient greek huehue” stop forcing the two together and let them be separately appreciated.

the characters were flat/archetypes/etc

sigh. okay.

these characters are actors. this book shows us their transition from themselves entirely into a conjunction of the roles they’ve played and the stereotypes they’ve portrayed.

“we were so easily manipulated - confusion made a masterpiece of us.”

“for us, everything was a performance”

“imagine having all your own thoughts and feelings tangled up with all the thoughts and feelings of a whole other person. it can be hard, sometimes, to sort out which is which.”

“far too many times i had asked myself whether art was imitating life or if it was the other way around”

“it’s easier now to be romeo, or macbeth, or brutus, or edmund. someone else.”

are you seeing it now? this focus on their archetypes, this focus on the character they are; the way they see themselves not merely as human but as a walking concoction of every character they have turned into and out of. they depend on their archetypes to give them meaning. rio uses these archetypes to remind us of the submersion of her characters. they weren’t flat, their intentional lack of dimension due to their pasts is what makes them so intricate. furthermore, there's an evident subversion- the tyrant becomes a victim, the hero becomes a villain (they all become villains really), the ingenue becomes corrupted. like mentioned before, i think we forget ourselves easily reading this book but there is a great deal of emphasis on this being their last year- which is so important. the damage has been done and a lot of the issues people have with the content (or lack thereof) in this book has to do with the fact that it’s all things that would have occurred in books focusing on previous years at delletcher.

“it didn't live up to expectation” (also leading on from read tsh to this and being ‘disappointed’)

i cant argue this because its entirely subjective. whatever expectation was created for you, i cannot know that and appropriately respond however- if you liked the secret history and understood the secret history then there's a good chance you also liked and understood this book- even if not to the same extent but you must be able to recognize the authorial approach and its significance. i think a lot of ppl read iwwv (and a lot of “dark academia” texts and films) and hope to be able to romanticize the aesthetic or the concepts and then are disappointed when they are presented with mildly unlikeable and overwhelmingly human characters who aren’t easy to romanticize.

a great majority of these books are criticisms of the very culture you’re trying to romanticize, and the only time you’re willing to admit that is when boasting about the ‘self-awareness’ of the people indulging in them, and then a moment later complain about those same qualities because they don’t serve this idealized expectation.

bad rep for arts/liberal arts/ humanities students as being pretentious/cultish

as a humanities student with a great love for eng lit- all of these things are indeed pretentious and cultish. not all the time and not always and not every person- but it is a common theme. academia is overwhelmingly obsessive and extremely white-washed. people become so fast to believe that they are indulging in finer arts and are therefore a higher standard of person. academia is problematic. and the recent influx of people interested in it is good, very good because hopefully, we’ll be more diverse, more open-minded, more accepting. that's what i hope at least. if you know, as an individual, that you’re not a pretentious academic who places themselves above non-academics then that's wonderful- but there are dangers and negative sides to academia that need to be understood so that we can see to not perpetuating them.

i cant refute all points, mostly because there's a lot of good and well-explained criticism because no book is perfect. and my intentions are not to belittle anyone's opinion. these are merely opposing arguments, food for thought and to be fair- a critical look into why not everything is always going to be what we expect of it and why every ‘problem’ can be assessed.

kind of disappointing to see you supporting something like H*talia, I liked your art a lot but you support one of the most racist anime out there....

Okay. Lets talk about this. I’m actually going to copy and paste something I already wrote on my main blog about Hetalia then I’ll add a few notes... Yes. Hetalia the show is problematic. I garentee most sane Hetalia fans will agree, the fandom is probably going to go down in fandom culture history as one of the first disaster fandoms way before the fandoms that surrounded voltron or Steven Universe. Again, most Hetalia fans will also probably agree with that. There’s certain bits from the comic and show that are absolutely not okay- however for those of you making a ton of assumptions about ppl who were in that fandom or are excited about the possibility of it coming back-> let me just explain a few things.

1. Hetalia made massive history nerds out of a lot us, it’s not that didn’t have some problematic results and of course it’s very euro-centric. But I’d argue because of this show It made a lot of people interested in the world and history way more than they ever would have and educated themselves further as a result

ADDED NOTE: The fandom, while small, I’d say has grown up a LOT. The people in it are a lot more informed and aware - The abbreviation was changed pretty damn quick as people started coming back with the new season announced from “APH” (Axis Powers Hetalia - We can all know what’s wrong with that) to “HWS” (Hetalia World Stars).

2. If you were a fan of Hetalia…. that honestly actually meant you were more a fan of the fandom than the actual show. Hetalia has more AUs than probably any fandom I’ve EVER seen: these people made a ton of content Off of characters that appeared in episodes less than 5 minutes long. It got to the point where a lot of people’s interpretations of the characters were SO far removed from the original show they may as well just be entirely new characters. I’m not going to sit here and argue like the fandom couldn’t get toxic, I was there, I remember. This is absolutely a piece of media you SHOULD ABSOLUTELY still be critical of and many many many many many people since the day Hetalia showed it’s face and the ended up getting a creepy pasta story made out of it already have. We’ve been here. Fans have used these characters as an easy way to inform and educate, even more so now than there used to be. So any new fans coming in as well may actually learn a lot about history and other cultures. Which can be really important when done right. It CAN aND HAS been done responsibly. So at the very least if you see a few current or ex Hetalians on your radar just don’t automatically assume shit. It’s way more complicated, we’ve all been through this shit before. Us oldies have seen and understood many a fandom through aaaaaallll the highs and lows.  We were there. We know both the bad and the good that can come from this, as is the case with literally any fandom ever. All of them can be great, creative, and create friendships and community (I have my long term best friend in large part due to Hetalia) … and they can also be latched on to by people who aren’t gonna have others best interests at heart, and are gonna try and use something for bigotry or being just gross. That’s why you stay I n f o r m e d above all else. If you weren’t there for this whole rodeo before, just… at least get the idea that this ain’t a cut and dry situation FURTHER ADDITION: “One of The most racist anime” is a pretty bold claim. Shows like Attack on Titan I would argue have way more damaging mixed messaging around the holocast and nazism. However I wouldn’t go so far to call fans of it racist. Because either A. People aren’t focusing on that aspect of the anime and just like the cool action or B. They know but they’re consuming and reacting to it critically and making informed choices about where they put their money and time. Naruto and Once Peice - two of THE MOST POPULAR ANIME for a LONG time out there, have characters that are EXTREMELY racist charactures of black people but no one talked about that for a long time. I would also argue that yes, the Hetalia dub has some very racist and problematic things with it, we should all get on funimation’s ASS about that, however, the original sub is mostly harmless outside of just plain not acknowledging the horrors of the holocost - which I think since the show is supposed to stay a comedy is why the author steered away from having things set in the 1940s because at a certain point and most modern Hetalia strips don’t touch it - you either make a mockery of a serious topic (cough cough the musical in a lot of ways) , OR you don’t touch WWII and just keep the setting modern and you can continue making fun of Europeans especially all you want.

Point being, If I draw Hetalia fanart... that is not me putting a stamp of approval on everything in the show. If you see a Hetalia fan drawing a character in a Nazi uniform, or putting the pasty-ass character for America in a Native American headdress of course! Call them the fuck out! We are too! Report and block them! So... yeah. And look, I get it, from an outside perspective where the only thing you’ve heard about Hetalia is the absolutely WORST of it, of course you would feel that way, that’s how most Fandoms get a bad reputation. It IS good to talk about this. And if you or anyone still wants to disagree with me, look I’ll still hear you out... but I think we have to get out of this headspace in any fandom of EITHER YOU STAN EVERYTHING ABOUT SOMETHING AND SUPPORT EVERYTHING ABOUT IT OR YOU MUST HATE AND DESPISE IT. Life... human thoughts... just don’t work like that.

do you also sometimes feel sad for being so into harry? like i try to focus on the joys him and his music bring me but sometimes, especially when i see him having interactions with friends and people that he loves or watching old one directions stuff and seeing their friendship and banter and i can’t help but feeling a bit jealous because i really wish i’d have him in my life like that but i obviously know that this is not realistic and that there are millions of people wishing to know him.. so sometimes it feels a bit silly spending so much of my time imagining what it would be like.. so i guess my question is: how do you keep it a positive experience?

i wouldn't say i'm *very* into him, like, i enjoy this fandom and writing for it and the ppl i met here and the overall experience etc but i definitely wouldn't say i'm... obsessed with him or something, i've never really been a fangirl of anyone. that being said, i do like and admire him a lot and do i wish i could just keep him to myself in a perfect world? sure. but am i sad over it? no. if i'm being really honest i think real life harry would absolutely drive me up the wall like he's no doubt great to hang out with but having to deal with his aquarius ass day in day out would send me to the looney bin🤣 for sure

on a more serious note, he's a real person with real flaws as well as qualities. let's try not to put artists on a pedestal, in general. cuz you're just setting yourself up for disappointment

but if you find that you can't really take a step back and be more casual about it, maybe take a break from anything related to him for a while. i've seen people do this on here. they say it helps them distance themselves when they find it being too overwhelming, because they get too invested and it starts making them sad. so try that, maybe?

EPISODE 1

Bold: Mae’s interview

I haven’t done anything like this before so I was glad I got to do this. I learned so much and I’m grateful for this opportunity.

Melody, the determined fairy

when the group bustled into the dorm while Hyuksoo hid on the couch, Melody rushed to the kitchen to find some snacks to eat

she was preoccupied until she heard the guys clapping and rushed to find Hyuksoo among the crowd

I never expected something like this to happen. I just wanted snacks and suddenly I just hear everyone yelling

instead of cooking or getting ingredients she was with the group trying to keep Hyuksoo company

Hyuksoo: “Melody I’m curious about something. How does it feel being the only girl in a group with all these boys?”

Melody: “It’s…..tiring to say the least but you get used to it and they all treat me well so it’s okay”

when it was time to eat she sat right next to hyuksoo because she was hungry

Hyuksoo: “i think it’s time for us to eat because melody seems hungry”

when they were visiting the empty space melody was only seen in the background exploring and when the show’s concept was introduced she was just like :O

she also wasn’t seen a lot in the hospital scene except for when she had her blood drawn

EPISODE 2

during the prank on Juyeon she almost cried because she didn’t want him to be hurt

it wasnt obvious and you could only tell because in the background you could see sangyeon patting her back

melody: i want to say i’m surprised but i’m really not

she was with the watermelon group

when she was watching the man show the group how to cut the water melon stem the caption read “our fairy is determined to get the fruit”

melody, upon seeing the watermelon eric dropped: *disappointed mom stare”

when they were talking to the ladies they kept telling her how cute she was in the work clothes

during the game with the producer she put three fingers down because she had an earring on, she dyed her hair (it had pink streaks in her hair) and she was from overseas

after that she wasnt seen much after that

EPISODE 3

she was a part of vocal ensemble so she sang with the group while the other prepared

after that she helped with handing out drinks and making cotton candy for the fans

during the roses event one of the fans yell “unnie you’re so pretty!!!!”

“I wasnt expecting so many people to support me and the boys. I wanted to make sure I was good enough to make them proud to call themselves our fan”

during the cooking battle between juyeon and kevin she was just like :O watching them cook

she voted for juyeon’s food when it was time for choose who was better

when they went back to the warehouse she thought chanhee was cool when he was explaining the cash register to everyone

when Moonbok, Jinwoo and Taemin visited the set she greeted them politely and muttered how she wished she had hair as pretty as Moonbok’s

when the power went out she got worried thats things would end up badly until the lights turned back on and changmin brought out the gas burner

EPISODE 4

she wasnt part of the cold noodles team so she wasnt in the scene

when they were talking in the car she talked about how she practiced in front of the mirror how she would greet people

Juyeon: she looked so cute greeting ppl like that, I almost forgot what I was doing

when they were preparing their restaurant she helped bring out ingredients and wiped the tables

when the flower snack song played she vibed with hwall by the tables

“I was really nervous. I wasnt sure what to expect but I just hope we could keep this nice vibe as we go along”

when the first group of customers arrived she let out a sigh of relief

she was the person who took the orders of the group of guys

sangyeon heard of of them say she was cute and side eyed them

she talked to one of the group of girls waiting for their orders while she waited for more people to come

Melody: theyre handsome right? if only there were more restaurants like this one

the girls laughed when she said that and the sigh that came after it

“Melody unnie is so funny” “She’s so pretty too…i’m jealous”

melody was really grateful for chanhee bc she knew that without him the whole restaurant would crash and burn

“Chanhee you’re so cool :D”

when everyone seemed settled with their food she ran to him and gave him a back hug

during aegyo time with haknyeon and chanhee she hid behind juyeon so she wouldn’t do anything

EPISODE 5

she panicked a bit when the chefs showed up to check on their cooking and hoped the cooking would work out well

she’s seen trying to calm herself down before going to serve food for the customers

during break when they were eating the food they cooked hyunjae gave her some of the rolls he fried

when it was time to do the wheel and the chefs were chosen she couldn’t stop giggling

when the group of men arrived she got ready to serve them but froze a bit when Narsha came in

when Haknyeon took their order she accidentally called Narsha beautiful out loud so she covered her mouth with her hands and hoped she didn’t hear her

Narsha did and called her cute for trying to hide it

when they were serving the middle schooler she immediately sat next to her to start a conversation so she wouldnt feel awkward and lonely

she went :O when Cao Lu came to visit their restaurant and also cooked food for her

when Cao Lu saw her in the group she said “what’s a cute girl like you among a group a wolves?” she went as red as the watermelon that day and the guys wont let her forget it

melody didn’t go with the group in the dark restaurant so she didnt have any screentime that time

she also didnt participate in the girl group dance battle and only danced in the background

EPISODE 6

she was first seen washing her hands

when the ladies from the watermelon farm she went to hug them and thank them for visiting

she was one of the people who went to talk to the foreigners when the others couldn’t

when Suh Sookoung visited she tried to match the energy she brought to the room

i thought the amount of energy she had was cool and tried to join in

when the lady who taught them how to make rice cakes she was seen clapping behind juyeon

yelled “you’re so cool!” when sookoung asked for the golden bell to pay for everyone’s meal

when they were doing the step counter thingy she got 112 on her machine

stole one of the fried rolls hyunjae made because she was hungry

joined in with the bruno mars medley and did harmonies

when the preview for the next episode with kids came out she’s seen with a smile on her face

when sam kim appeared she had an unreadable expression on her face making viewers wonder why she reacted like that

EPISODE 7

she didn’t participate in the game in the beginning and only watched in the background

wasnt one of the members who had to eat peppers so she laughed at the members who did

helped the members figure out which orders when to which tables when they didnt know who got what

when the taekwondo kids arrived she perked up and immediately went to greet them

she talked to the kids who didnt speak korean and you can see how much she loved seeing them

netizens commented on how she seemed like she would seem like a good mom in the future when she interacted with them

especially when she managed to calm down the little girl while the mom was away to go do something

one of the kids hugged her when the kids had to go and she melted on the spot

when she saw sam kim enter she went “aish” and tried hiding from his view which failed bc chanhee brought her back into sight

she tried to avoid eye contact with him while jacob and kevin kept talking to him

she cringed when she saw how they freaked out in front of them

when sam noticed her his eyes widened and pointed her out

“oh, you are a part of this group?” “yes….nice to see you again oppa”

“hahaha sam kim oppa is actually part of my family. On my mom’s side. The look on the members faces were just..”

“you know sam kim????” “why did you tell us???” “ it never came up!!!!”

before sam left he made sure to tell them to take care of melody since he cant do it himself

i originally supposed to audition to Antenna Music so i could be with sam oppa but I didnt make it. But it’s okay because I got to meet my boys

Episode 8

in the beginning she was seen skipping into the kitchen area

Melody: “wah…i cant believe this is the last day already”

when they switched roles she was put into the cotton candy and watermelon ade group

she tried helping the others from the sidelines when they were having trouble with their work

she apologized to the customers with the group because of how hectic everything was

there were things i regretted during our time but this is definitely an experience I wont forget

during the lie detector part she was asked if she thought she did better working with cotton candy than younghoon

“of course not” *lie detector says lie and her hand gets shocked*

when they were practicing with the choreographer only small clips of her were seen

when gashina and red flavor played during the break time she did the choreography perfectly as if she practiced it a long time

the person she had to talk about in their relay was sangyeon

i always admired sangyeon as a person. He’s really reliable and i could always count on him when i’m not sure on what to do. I dont know what i would do without him

during the mv shooting she’s seen moving slightly to the music while others shoot their scenes

during the water battle scene she snuck up behind chanhee and dumped her whole water bottle on him

karma happened tho and she got splashed by eric

and finally her ending ment after the shooting ended

It’s been a journey being with all these boys but i wouldn’t change it world the world. I’m very nervous for our debut but i really hope that people end up like our music. The Boyz Fighting!
