The biggest change is that we're going to have lesser check-ins as we're trying a more laid-back system this year. As a result of this different approach, it's more important than ever to come to the mods with any problems you're having with your workload or your collaborators. We'll work with you to solve anything, but we can't help you if we don't know about your issues. We ask you all that if you're having any kind of problems, please reach out to us unprompted, either on the server or in DMs, so we can help to find a solution.

This year, having your story betad is recommended, but isn't mandatory. With this, we won't have an anonymous ranking for betas. Writers will be able to ask for a beta's help any time during the event, for which betas can apply.

We brought back the artist-writer pairing requirements from 2021: to be able to get paired, writers will have to submit a summary, tags, and a 2.000 words snippet by the end of August.

A couple years ago, @personnedelalune (or was it @maguayans? unless you’re the same person lol) started an idea of reviewing your year as writers. I loved it, so allow me to bring it back.

Let’s be honest from the go, in terms of writing, this probably was my driest year… I've implemented a way to follow days when I write - actually, I also records days I "touch my wip", which can refer to plotting, worldbuilding, research... it's kinda an idea I stole from Lionel Davoust, his own variation of the (in)famous adage Write every day. Anyway, there are very few days I touched any of my wips this year.

And I missed it dearly.

Overall, I think I needed the year to 1) get through irl changes (moving, having, then not having and having again an actual manager...), 2) find the balance around the new rhythm dictated in a way by my daughter's needs. She's 1 year old now, growing well, and I feel like I'm getting my footing back. My brain starts making projects again. It's not yet turning back to my stories, but it has room for creativity, and that's a good start.

More changes will come next year. New challenges as well probably. But in the meantime, I can let my mind wander again.

So what did I discover this year? First, embroidery. It was something I had wanted to try for a few years, but never dared. I like repeating the same movements again and again, but, here, with the possibility of creating something unique. I don't know when I will finish my current piece, but maybe I'll share the final results here for once.

What else? Gardening. There's a weird peace that come to you when you do manual work. A way to really cut yourself out from all worries, to actually disconnect your brain from the stress of your life. We had a weekend of 4 days, where my partner and I spent 3 days revamping our garden, and for the first time, in such a short period, I forgot to even think about work.

I'll try to revive this blog, probably will take a slightly different direction than I have until now. Less writing tips, more strings of thoughts and small update posts. I also would like to take you on the re-reading of the Dragons of Jamaedo: I need to get to know my wip again, before I continue writing it, and hopefully finish it once and for all! Maybe you'll enjoy the ride :)
