Chapter 23: Aoi Twin Past, The 6th Doll and The Pikachu

"LET GO OF ME BEITCHI!" You start to move around as your being held Vai your headpiece by a rude guy, who can't even held a doll properly.

"Oh? It seems a little rude one have sneak in my property." Eichi smile as he wave you from left to right, making you see things dizzily.

"LET GO!!' you frown as you try to reach for his hand to electrify him a bit (or a lot) to make him let go yet his eyes seems fast enough to notice your hand start to sparkle before you can reach out for his skin and went to shake you around even more, he even went to spin you like your not a conscious being and only blurry color of you can be seen as he spin you like some rope.

"AHHHHHHHH I WANNA THROW UP--"as well hear your voice.

"Ahaha. It's quite rude to try and electrify a person. Now isn't it?" Eichi laugh at your situation but don't stop as he knows if your concentrate enough, your going to use those spark to attack him.

'MAYOIIIII-- ANYONE-- HELP MEEE--' you cried in your head as you start to see stars

"MC!" Mayoi who was running through his secret passage suddenly felt his vision start to blurry and almost tripped when his vision darken a bit. Then he felt he wanna throw up.

"Agh... What... MC...! hic... *Sob." He quickly realize your being tortured by some evil person! He suddenly felt so sick than he already is as tears falls from his eyes yet he continue to run to get to the first floor faster without meeting anyone.

"I... I will be there!" He felt your calling out for him and hurried to open the door to the first floor hallway from the secret corner and at that moment, Hinata and Yuuta who's parkouring through the ladder to get down faster suddenly slip when they felt dizzy out of nowhere and start to see dotted vision, they all went rolling down the stairs.

"Aniki!!" Yuuta called out to his older brother as they get smack to first floor, face first.

"Ahh... I felt so dizzy..." Hinata mumble in his doll form. It's a good thing they are just few steps down and that they won't sustain major Injuries as they are darling dolls.

(After Mayoi realize Hinata is the one who put you in the vent to hide away. Mayoi unconsciously drain Hinata energy to stay human, he did apologize to Hinata afterwards when his mind become clear and the voice have stopped taking over his head. But before he can help Hinata about it. Aira message them and he run quickly and Hinata quickly follow suit and meet up with brother in the hallway.)

"Ahhm... What kind of situation is MC in right now...?" Yuuta question as he held his brother plushie form in his right hand while he held the wall in another. He also felt he wanna throw up.

"Uchuuuu!! Wahahaha! Hey I saw how you two went rolling down the stairs! it suddenly gives me inspiration!" Leo who's lettering the hallway laugh as he saw the twins comedic act just now

"Tsukinaga!" Yuuta called out before he felt he really going to throw up in the spot.

He quickly held his mouth and went knocking to the closest dorm room to use bathroom and throw up the content of his stomach.

"CanT yoU jusT usE youR owN bathrooM ?" Natsume commented as he peak at Yuuta throwing up in their dorm room bathroom after frantic knocking even knocking into his face for a moment.

"Uwah... Everything is s-spinning..." Hinata cried who's trying to walk around but tripped as his eyes is swirling, he too would throw up if not for the fact his in his doll form.

"whaT?" Natsume looks confuse at the two fellow dolls. His eyes narrow as he went to get his cards.

He quickly shuffle it and made Hinata pick three cards, Hinata manage to smack three cards off with his plushie hands while feeling dizzy as always.

"oH." He finally understand what happened to the two of them.

"iTs waS odD wheN thE twO oF yoU whO wenT tO haunteD dolL statE ablE tO returN tO thiS worlD." Natsume knows what happened to the two years ago, after their so called 'family' have called them monster and called them weird for being such an odd twins that was supposed to be a masterpiece of the 2nd dollmaker after Natsume who is haft finish by the first dollmaker yet unable to finish until the second dollmaker comes around.

Becomes a well known yet the dolls created by the first dolls master is never been beaten up with the quality. Hinata thought as the oldest if the world could only accept one Aoi, and turn to human one day.

It would be his precious brother and so he untied his own knot yet what he expect for Yuuta to be happy about cause him to fallen in haunted state and almost killed the evil man who made his brother think that way, their so called 'family'.

maybe Hinata and Yuuta is linked as twins more than others could think as Yuuta who fallen to haunted doll state and unknotted Hinata too fallen into one.

Then as the two who fallen to terrible fate with one another hand soon swift away by strings who promise them that they'll find a home one day-- the phantom taken them in as he did so, The person (the family of Aoi before) who is almost haft dead lost his own social standing and fallen to a karmic debt... As if a curse have befallen him. To live a life painful than death.

Then there's no more information about the twins ever again, not until they come around again a year or so again. Leaking the presences of haunted doll yet somehow more human than other dolls as if they were fix as new, better than ever. Now they smile so happily as they talk to everyone again and surrounded with new family. Full of love and affection they never gotten full before from their previous family.

Many questions what cause those two come such way and wish to know their secret.... Even that certain doll of the first dollmaker who still worry about his younger brother who's haft soul of his have fallen into haunted doll state (he only able to maintain being human(?) Is the fact his asleep almost all the time in the day from the drawback of his state, only with the help of his older brother who is one of the first doll maker doll he manage to be UNhaunted even with his haft soul left Inside of him) and taken by the Phantom years before have come to ask the two.

[ "Sakuma-senpie. We wish we could tell you but the phantom have the last say about this. " ]

And apologize to Sakuma who could only sigh hopelessly. He would ask Mayoi but Mayoi always gone when he reach out for him. And Mayoi mental state at that very moment is brick of going berserk and approaching him at that moment (when your in second trip in the past) would bring bad than good.

" sO itS thiS humaN whO helP yoU." Natsume saw through a glimpse of memories of the twin a blurry image of you before he get push back by strings and it even physical slash him.

"huH." Natsume held is wound in his hand and saw how deep it is. His very intrigued that The phantom would go far to blur your image and the fact there's a connection that made the twins and him to be able to feel what you feel. Such an interesting case, but why would he go that far? He have so many questions in his mind as he can only see a bit.

"Ahhhh! Sakasaki don't look too much.... Agggghhhhhhmmmmm...." Yuuta realize Natsume just use his abilities on them before he once again throwing up in the toilet.

"Hmm , then I won't look at where the 'doll' you both looking for then."

"...PLEASE LOOK THROUGH IT. I WANNA STOP THROWING UP..HUHU." yuuta shakes Natsume who chuckle evilly as he once again made them pull cards and Yuuta quickly did and when Natsume read it, his eyes widen.

"Their next door." He point out to Eichi-Rei-Aira dorm room. Hinata who heard it quickly takes run but still dizzy and so he tripped. Yuuta tries to call with his phone but his phone slip off his hand as his hand is kinda slippery and drop it to the toilet where he throw up.

"......" -Yuuta. 'The day can't get anymore worse.'

"Pff--" natsume laugh but he try to cover it so. But its too much and added to the fact he just seen you being spin around by Eichi and using you like your nunchaku. Everytime your able to move electrify him.

"Yuuta what's wrong with your phone? Did you make em swim in throw up shit? Ahaha!" Leo who come around the bathroom door to get a wet cloth to wipe his mess in the hallway as Keito have nagged him before going to eichi room.

"ahahahaH!!" natsume laughs so loudly when he look at the second card. Leo look at him like he have coocoo in the head.

"Eichi you called--" Keito enter Eichi dorm room and at that moment Aira went pass it as he close it behind him as he enter..

"keito Catch." Eichi throws the nunchaku (?) In his hand to keito direction with a sneakers in his face.

"Hu--AHHHHH!?" The moment keito caught it, you who so dizzy held Keito with your paws and thinking it's that eichi bitch you use your electricity for like 5 seconds, causing keito to drop you to the floor.

"EICHI WHAT THE HELL?!" keito rubs his hand that get electrocuted just now and glare at eichi before he fix his glasses.

Through at that moment it was odd when he wear his glasses it become blurry and when he dont wear it he can clearly see eichi laughing his ass off in his bed.

"What the..." He try to adjust his glasses again but meet with the same problem. His clearly confuse.

"AHAHAHAHAHAAH!"- Eichi laugh even to the point his crying, his having too much good time!

"K-keito quickly don't let go of that Pikachu before they would go using thunderbolt at you again- ahahaha!" He added as he point at you who somehow able to stand with dizzy eyes.

Your electricity running wild in anger as you hear that bitch who treat you like a nunchaku earlier, laugh.

"BITCH I WILL END YOU!!" you screams like bloody murder and will commence murder to the war criminal who did you dirty.

"What in tarnation..." Keito look at the darling doll who seems to be a real life Pikachu. His otaku heart suddenly perks up and he wanted to get to know this real life Pikachu further but before that, he have to stop you from trying to burn down the building as you just inflame the building when you dizzily find your way to the trash bin full of papers (in sakuma side of the room ) and thinking it's eichi and using thunderbolt in it.

"Pfff-- ah shit this gone so bad so quickly." Eichi stop laughing as he look at the small fire you cause.

whoops some Better Call Saul thoughts about Chuck I gotta write out, I can't stop thinking about this guy. Note im halfway thru season 4 rn so some spoilers for those who aren't caught up like meee

I find Chuck to be a fascinating character. I think in a lot of ways he's far worse than Jimmy. Like, Jimmy absolutely isn't innocent and has done a lot of harm to his brother but Chuck feels far more malicious and cruel all under the guise of being "morally just" in his actions. In a funny comparison, he reminds me a lot of Michael Bluth from Arrested Development, acting like he's the only moral one when he's just as shitty and selfish as the rest of his family but Chuck is just so much more hurtful.

It's very clear that Chuck has had beef with just the concept of Jimmy since he was born. He's the classic older brother jealous of the attention his baby brother gets and he never got over it. A notable event to me is when their mother dies calling for Jimmy, he doesn't tell him and I don't believe for a second it was out of kindness to the fact it would have hurt him that he wasn't there. He didn't tell him out of pure spite. Here he was when Jimmy wasn't (which you can not blame him for, he could not have known) and he sees this as his family still prioritizing Jimmy over him. He is selfish and he doesn't see it that way.

Like, This fucking guy really defined what his brother was at a young age and then just decided that's what he was for the rest of his life. How fucked up is that? to your own brother?? He actively worked against Jimmy in secret!!!! because whatever Jimmy did to better himself wasn't good enough for him. and all the while he acts high and mighty b/c he's the "proper" lawyer, he's passionate about morals and justice. Ignoring the fact that actually law and so called court justice is horribly flawed and often contributes to more pain and misery in the world. I feel he's willingly naïve in that way, would rather blindly trust a broken system than confront its faults.

It's no wonder he develops his electro sensitivity, he needs an reason to explain why he feels so shitty. It cant be healthy to have that much family conflict go unspoken for years. He's so self-absorbed he can't confront his inner turmoil without looking for an outside source. It can't ever be him, it has to be something else that he can control. It's honestly sad like, everyone enabled him years b/c that is such a difficult thing to confront. I don't fault them, but also he would never get better b/c of it. His pain is real but he's also the source of his own pain. He avoided people who could really help him and in the end his final spoken words to his own brother is "you never really mattered all that much to me" and I think he meant it. I'm sure on some level his final letter has truth, that Jimmy is his family at the end of the day but not once are we ever shown that they were ever particularly close beyond when they were very young. Chuck decided that Jimmy was unredeemable early on and never let go and that absolutely fucked their relationship without Jimmy ever realizing.

Anyway that's my Chuck thoughts. I love him, I hate him, he's an excellent complex character and I will miss him.

Dimension Wave Chapter 34 — Limited Dimension Wave

“What’s with all the ruckus at this hour?”

Alto sleepily rubbed his eyes. Beside him stood Yamikage and Tsugumi, both of whom were asleep minutes ago as well. Yamikage had adjusted to living on the seas and has been sleeping properly too. Tsugumi was still half-asleep.

“The ship is being pulled along by something.” “Surely ‘tis but a wave.” “If it’s just a wave, then I don’t know why my Helmsmanship skill isn’t working at all.”

I was able to keep the ship from capsizing when the storm hit us, but I don’t know why it’s not doing anything now. Was it because I caught the Humongous Squid? That shouldn’t have anything to do with it. But if it is, then my fishing must’ve affected something. I mean, that doesn’t really make sense though. We should’ve only been jostled around a little by the drag of the squid. Maybe we simply triggered a flag for the Sea of No Return… but that would be awfully optimistic thinking.

“Be on gua—What?”

I turned around to see who tapped my shoulder. But there wasn’t anyone there. I mean, obviously not. Everybody on board is standing in front of me. To my right are Yamikage and Tsugumi. To my left are Alto and Sheryl. Ahead of me is Shouko. Who would be there to tap me on my shoulder?

“Kizuna, what if there were ghosts on the sea?” “Well, I’d expect you to be a little more scared…”

The lady standing right in front of me seemed as if she could see more than we could. I’m not scared enough to be shrieking out loud, but Shouko looked extremely serious considering the possibility of ghosts and stuff… Well, I know Dimension Wave is only a game, but I wish she would at least pretend to be scared. But someone else was.

“… phantom ships.” “S-S-Su-Surely you jest, miladies!” “Well, I s’pose ghost ships and pirate ships are nautical staples.”

Neither Sheryl nor Alto seemed surprised. It’s true that MMORPG’s usually have them as dungeons or events. Hell, it’d be more surprising if they didn’t show up on a nautical RPG. And why are you pissing your pants already, Yamikage?

“Yeah, you’re right… That would explain why the mist and the sudden chilliness too.”

Visibility had rapidly worsened. The fog, eerie and disturbing, was extremely well done on the developers’ part. Drowsy before, but Yamikage was now trembling. Was she that terrified?

“Hey, Yamikage. It’s a little clichéd, but would you let me scare you with a ‘boo!’?” “How! You would be such a knave!” “Figured you’d get mad.”

I don’t think my joke went over very well, but I also don’t think it made much of a difference that I warned her first.

“Thy mere suggestion has wrought me with fury!” “Fine… then how ‘bout you, Alto?” “No way, José! I’ve got the heebie-jeebies already!” “Heh, I never said I was actually gonna do it, but your guys’ reactions was amazing.”

It might’ve been more fun to push them, but the other three…

“Do tell why you are looking at me like that.” “… try me.” “You’re so oopy spoopy, big bro!”

Yikes. I don’t know what I expected out of my sister, but I really don’t want her to act all cutesy with me like that again.

“But in all seriousness, a ghost ship, huh? Sounds like it’ll be tough.” “Even during the day~!”

Well, the whole party’s leveled up a bit and even I’m at about half the Energy I used to have. I’ve also been using Transmutation to get some Energy out of the squid I fish up, but since the skill is only at rank I, it takes quite a bit of time to cast. Plus, since I get about 5-15 Energy per squid, that’s only about 700 Energy per hour. I’ll probably have to keep using the skill to level it up to II, but it’s yet to pop up even though I’ve been at it for a while now.

“I-I-Is that the ship, perchance?! Oh, but I am so frightened!” “What’s truly frightening is that you still haven’t acquired Night Vision.”

She probably sleeps through the night, but I’ve had it unlocked for so long already. More importantly, though, I looked over to the direction she was pointing. It was glowing in a ghostly white light, emitting a full body sense of dread. The realism of it all truly spoke to the beauty of VR.

The ghost ship was absolutely colossal. Our sailboat was only about 20 meters in length, but we were completely eclipsed in comparison. Sheryl explained that leisure watercraft over 25 feet (approximately 7.6 meters) are designated as cabin cruisers. But this was more like a yacht. It had the space for multiple living quarters and other facilities on board. It was probably, what, ten times bigger us and it had suddenly appeared in front of us. The sails were in tatters and its planks crumbling. If it weren’t for the mysterious white light that it’s emitting, you’d think this ghost ship is just some floating rotten junk. If this were a horror movie, there would be a theremin playing in the score right now.

“Yamikage.” “Gah!” “I… I just wanted to speak to you. No need to be shrieking or anything…”

And just for kicks, I turned to look at Alto and then gazed past his shoulders. He seemed out of it. Whatever it may be, their reactions are top notch. You’ve just gotta have at least one person in your squad like these two!

“I think I respect you a little less now, Kizuna.” “Whaaat? Just because there’s a ghost ship?” “But the look on your face!”

Haha! Oh, this guy. But I suppose there are more important matters at hand. Like the ghost ship.

“Like I was saying, let’s be on guard and prepare for combat. Something like this has gotta have enemies on board.” “Understood.” “‘kay.” “Mm-hmm!”

The three of them replied with confidence if not enthusiasm. The other two? Cowards. Especially that Yamikage. Get a grip! At least Alto’s got an excuse. He’s been busy trading up till now, so he might be a little underleveled. Yamikage, though, has the strongest stats out of all of us. With her Drain, her numbers are better than even Shouko. But, I mean, if she’s simply afraid of ghosts and spirits, then there’s nothing you can really do about it.

“If you two are that bad with ghosts and stuff, you wanna stay behind?” “… Stay behind? Here?” “Yeah.” “I shall follow you till the ends of the Earth!” “I mean, it’s probably safer if you stay here and wait for us.” “Hell to the no! It’s a billion times scarier to be here alone!” “I guess? I grew up watching a lot of this stuff, so I guess I’m used to it.”

My sisters and I used to always rent horror flicks and watch them together. There’s even new VR horrors where you watch in first-person. I’m not crazy about the genre as a whole though. But enough contemplating. Let’s charge on board.

A menu popped up with a list of our names. Once past the blinding light, it looked like the dungeon was located below deck. There was no information on the minimap except for each of our locations. Everything else was pitch black. It’s probably one of those hidden dungeons that pop up in games all the time.

“Limited Dimension Wave?”

I muttered aloud to myself, but everyone else was similarly confused by what it meant. Shouko had already readied her weapon. It’s like she’s some sort of disciplined soldier, ready to engage in combat at the drop of the hat. Sheryl was simply looking around with her usual blank expression. Tsugumi had her battle scythe wielded in both hands. Her lower body trembled while her animal ears twitched agitatedly. Alto seemed out of it, just as before. And then there’s…

“Eeeeeeeeek! No, it’s too scary! Help meee!”

There was about one person who was almost repulsively afraid. But wait. Where did that verbal tic of her go? She’s actually that terrified? I mean, she was scared before, but… I don’t know, I feel bad for putting her through this now.

“Yamikage, it’s alright!” “… Kiz!” “… Who?” “… Miss Kizuna.”

I have so much to say about her correcting herself, but I can save that for later. I’m not about to ask her what she thinks about me though. But Yamikage. Just what is she? I’m sure if I got to know her, I’d understand her more and guess to how she is as a person. Not her character, but rather the actual player behind the ninja. I mean, of course, it’d be rude for me to pry. In online games like this, you never know who’s comfortable sharing what with whom. This is all just theory, but in my mind, Shouko is from old money, Sheryl… I’m not so sure about, Tsugumi is obvious, and Alto is probably… a little older. You know what they say about books and covers though.

“Chill, Yamikage. We’re in a game. Even if there were ghosts, it’s all just a game.” “… I understand, milady.”

From below her, I looked up straight into her eyes… And seemingly calmer now, she nodded in agreement. Alright, with her out of the way, I had to get a handle on the situation. I just had to pay no mind to Dark Shadow holding on to my sleeve.

“So, what’s does ‘limited’ mean?” “… With restrictions.” “I mean, if we look at it literally, then I suppose it’s a restricted Dimension Wave?” “I believe it to mean that it is limited to the current party listed in the information screen.” “Ooh, that makes sense…”

This was something I’ve seen more than once in MMO’s. It’s not dissimilar to instance dungeons and party quests. Tsugumi had played one that was all about co-op with your party members. It’s a total cliché, but I’ll bet that we’ll have to clear this dungeon and then defeat a boss. We’ll get quest rewards and boss drops at the end too. And we’re probably limited to doing this once a day or once a week or something. I get it now. That’s probably why it’s limited.

“Alrighty. No point to standing around like this. Shall we?”

He was late...again. It was the third time this week that he was late for patrol. Peter mentally scolded himself, knowing that he should be helping out more. He was running, running through the bust sidewalks of New York city. Typically, Peter just stuck to watching over Queens. He rarely even went into Brooklyn. But something told him that he needed to be there today. He couldn't figure out why, his spider-senses only telling him to be alert. He tried to decipher his feelings as he squeezed through the crowd of people. He was nervous and...giddy? Well that makes no sense. Right then and there, Peter's body collided with another person, a hot liquid spilling on both of them, causing them both to cry out in pain.

Peter looked up and was met with a girl, no older than he was, now covered in coffee.

"I-I'm so so sorry!" Peter apologized, further scolding himself. She tucked her slightly long, dark hair behind her ear and smiled at him.

"It's okay! It's crowded here so it would have happen regardless," She tried to make the situation better even though she lost all of her dysfunctional families coffee including her own.

"Still, I'll-I'll buy you some new ones! And, uh, a new shirt. Shit. I'm really really sorry." He pulled out his wallet to hopefully reimburse the poor girl for the spilled drinks and spoiled shirt, only to find no money. "Just my luck," he thought to himself.

"Seriously, it's okay! Accidents happen! All the time! Especially here in New York." Sure her skin was burned from the give or take 64 ounces of fresh, steaming coffee poured on her, but she was just as clumsy and she didn't want this poor guy to suffer.

"But," Peter looked down at his watch. He was really late for patrol now. He groaned as he struggled with what to do. He knew he need to start patrol as soon as possible and get to his backpack where his homemade superhero suit was waiting for an adventure and justice. But, he also knew that he couldn't just leave this girl after ruining her day.

She could sense that he was in a hurry. To where? Who knows, but she decided to make this easier on the both of them.

"Give me your phone."

"What?"

"Give me your phone."

"Why-"

"Just do it!" Peter reluctantly handed her his phone, absolutely clueless of her plan. She added her contact into Peter's outdated iPhone, smiling as she returned it to him. "There. You seem like you're in a hurry so you can make it up to me on a date," she winked at him. Peter began to blush as he stuttered. She laughed and waved bye to the boy, hoping that it wouldn't be the last time that she gets to see his cute face.

Peter looked down at the phone and found her contact. Y/n. He smiled as he watched her figure retreat down the sidewalk, further and further away from their little coffee accident. A pretty name for a pretty girl.

Y/N walked into the huge compound, instantly being met with the loud clamor of her expansive and not all completely related family.

"Little Stark!" Wanda greeted, drawing the team's attention to the teenage girl who entered the building.

"Yo Stark! Where's the coffee?" Sam yelled asked.

"Ha. About that-"

"She's wearing it," Natasha pointed out, a teasing smile now on her face.

"Ms. Stark, what happened?" Vision asked, concerned as to why the young was suddenly covered in coffee but still seemed in a fabulous mood.

"Ran into someone."

"Damn kid just cause we have money doesn't mean that you can go spilling it and wearing it," Tony looked at his pride and joy, trying into to laugh.

"Steve doesn't like that language Tony," Rhodey joked.

"You know what? For a Colonel-"

"I'm fine by the way. In case you case were wondering ya know. Just some minor second degree burns no biggie," y/n interrupted Steve.

Wanda gasped, ”You met a boy!"

"You met a boy?!" All the adults formed a chorus. Tony, Steve, and Rhodey were all concerned, protective parents, Vision was trying to figure out what was so specially about meeting someone of the opposite sex, all while Sam and Nat were happy that their niece was finally going to get some.

"Wanda you snitch!"

"I'm sorry! I'm trying to control it I swear! It's just, your thoughts were so loud I couldn't help myself!"

"Who's the boy?" Tony questioned, a million emotions flooding his system.

"Dad-"

"Who's the boy?" He repeated.

"No nobody! No one! Wanda," y/n sent glares to the other young girl in the house.

"Guys stop with the third degree. It's obvious nothing happened. She's literally wearing coffee."

"Jee thanks Sam."

"Anytime y/n/n. Anytime." At that moment, a small ding came from y/n's phone.

"Hey y/n! It's Peter the guy that ran into you earlier today. Would you might to maybe like go out sometime this weekend?" A smile followed by a blush took over y/n's face. How could she say no?

And thus was the beginning of their beautiful relationship.

Five Months Later

The compound was quiet, far too quiet. Y/N hated it with a burning passion. She missed all the clashing and banging from the training center. She missed the awkward, flirting tension that would follow Wanda and Vision everywhere. She missed Sam yelling at Steve to stop running so fast. She missed Nat trying to teach her basic combat skills behind her dad's back. She missed showing Steve all the new things about the internet and watching the greatest movies of all time that he didn't get to see due to the ice. She missed bantering with Sam about who's Steve's best friend was: her or Sam. She missed Rhodey and Sam ranting about the "two crazy white boys" in their lives. She missed her dysfunctional family more than she ever thought possible. And she was so incredibly pissed at both Steve and Tony for not finding a common ground for the accords.

Tony was just as upset. He hated silence, he always knew he did. But he never knew he could hate it so much. He never thought that he could miss Steve, or Wanda, or Clint, or Sam, or Nat. He never knew how much he could miss his daughter yelling at Vision for barging into her room. Or her and Wanda screaming Taylor Swift lyrics at the top of their lungs. Or Steve's thousand questions as they watched some classic movie that he never got to experience. Or the mess the team would leave the kitchen, training room, living room, hell, practically the entire compound. He missed catching Nat teaching y/n how to fight. He missed the dysfunctional family he never knew he had, until Steve and Bucky left him to die in the snow, all alone and cold, bleeding out, wondering where the hell did he go so wrong. Seeing the after math of the Avenger's "civil war", Rhodey struggling to walk on his own and y/n barely leaving her room, made him feel even more guilty. Even thought the fight was both of their faults, Tony couldn't help but feel that it was all his. That he could have, should have, would have done more to fix it...but he did it. And now everyone, even Clint: the retired Avenger, Scott: the man that suddenly entered the team's lives during the fight, and his own sweet daughter: y/n, are facing the consequences.

He sighed, checking his phone while hearing the news blare from his daughter's room to make up for the quietness of the compound.

"Sir, Mr. Parker is here," FRIDAY informed him.

"Send the kid in." He put away his phone and put on his "I'm Tony Stark and I have my shit together" mask.

Peter was, well, to best explain it: the love child of the emotions excited, nervous, anxious, and worried. No matter how many times he had talked to Tony Stark, he could never get over the fact that he was talking to Tony Stark, THE Iron Man himself. He wondered what Ned would say if he knew. Probably something extremely fanboy-sih like: "Oh my god what did he smell like? If you don't say iron than I give up supporting him." He then thought about what his girlfriend would say to all of this. She didn't exactly know that her boyfriend was the spider vigilante. Or that he had superpowers. Or that Tony Stark had taken him under his wing and had him fight alongside him to stop Captain America. She didn't even know that he left the country just a week ago per Mr. Stark's request. He didn't know what her reaction would be. And he didn't get much time to think about it as the elevator doors opened up to the compound.

Peter's eyes widened in a childlike wonder. He was so caught up in his surroundings that the doors almost closed on him. He stumbled out, still looking around.

"Hey underoos," Tony greeted, putting his phone away.

"H-Hey Mr. Stark. This place is amazing!" Peter exclaimed, his eyes still roaming around the room.

"This used to be the Avengers compound."

"Used to? Oh! Right! Berlin."

"Yeah...Berlin. Let me show you around."

While Tony took Peter on the grand tour, Rhodey thought he'd pay a visit to his favorite Stark.

"How you doing y/n/n?"

"I hate this," she grumbled, lowering the volume of her television.

"I know."

"No offense Rhodey, but you guys are adults. Grown adults. Why couldn't you guys have come to an agreement or something?"

"It's not that simple. You know that."

"But it should have been." She looked down at her lap, trying to hold back the tears. "I'm sorry bout your legs."

"You can't expect to come out with everything in a war like that."

"But it's your family."

"Makes it just a little worth it."

"So, why are you here? Don't get me wrong I love your company Rhodey but I'm sure my dad would prefer you in his sight."

"Came to check in on you. Also, to tell you that the new recruit is here."

"New recruit?" She perked up.

"Yeah. I think you'll like him too. He's your age."

"My age?" She started to laugh. "Rhodes there's no way in hell that Tony Stark, the Iron-Man, my father, would ever recruit a kid my age."

"Well, why don't you just come see for yourself?"

"Is this an attempt to get me out of my room and to face my dad?"

"No, but I'm saving that for future reference. Just come see."

"I'm going. I'm going."

Tony stopped the tour in the living room as soon as he heard his daughter's giggle.

"Pete, there's someone I want you to meet."

As soon as she walked in, Peter froze. Y/N turned her gaze from Rhodey to the two people in front of her and her eyes widened.

"Peter?" she gasped, a smile finding her face for the first time in a week.

"Y/n?" Peter's brows furrowed. He was trying to figure out how the hell his girlfriend got here. Tony looked between the two kids and then back to Rhodey, mentally asking what was going on. Rhodey shrugged his shoulders, just as confused.

"What are you doing here?!" she gave him a hug. She had missed him, esspecially with all the crazyness that had taken over her life the past week.

"Mr. Stark invited me," he hugged her back, also missing the way her voice sounded and how soft her skin was. "What are you doing here?"

"I live here. Wait, invited you?"

"Y/n, this is the new recruit," Tony informed her, scared that she was going to tear him apart.

"Wait what?!" She looked at her dad.

"Wait, why do you live here?"

"She's his daughter," Rhodey answered.

"YOU HAVE A KID!?" Peter yelled.

"Yes.." Tony took a step back, the whole scene feeling too much for him suddenly.

"AND YOURE HIS KID?!"

"Yeah wait why is he recruiting you?"

"He's Spider-Man. How do you two know each other?" Rhodey was more than curious to figure out the drama going on before his eyes.

"YOURE SPIDER-MAN AND YOU NEVER TOLD ME!!!"

"IM SORRY!! YOURE TONY STARKS DAUGHTER AND YOU NEVER TOLD ME!!"

"...YOU HAVE A POINT BUT IM SORRY!"

"Screaming kids," Tony snapped his fingers in-between the two, "yeah, hi! How do you two know each other?"

"Oh, well, uh, y-you see Mr. Stark. The thing is..." Peter scratched the back of his neck nervously.

"He's my boyfriend," y/n cut him off.

"I did NOT see that coming!" Rhodey exclaimed, laughing. "He's the guy that spilled coffee on you two months ago??!" Y/n nodded sheepishly as Peter blushed.

"You told them!?"

"Pete, I was covered in coffee. What did you want me to do? Say I threw up coffee?"

"Really underoos? My kid?" Tony asked, still refusing to believe that his work child and his blood child were dating.

"I DIDN"T KNOOOW!"

"Really y/n? My underoos?"

"Really dad? My Peter?"

"Hey I found him first."

"Actually, I did."

"Actually the spider did," Rhodey intruded.

"Am I being fought over by Tony and y/n Stark?" Peter asked, still confused as to what was going on.

"Yup. It's a pleasure isn't it?" Rhodey teased.

"Listen, as much as I want to be mad I really can't cause you're both good kids so, knock yourselves out...but not up. Please, not up. But Peter, if you hurt my daughter, I will hurt you. And y/n, if you hurt Peter, I will hurt you. Alright?"

"Yes dad."

"Yes Mr. Stark."

"So wait. Is Peter, like, living with us now?" y/n asked.

"For a bit. Just so we can train him." Peter and y/n looked at each other with huge smiles on their faces.

"Let's give them a moment Peter," Rhodey dragged the teen boy out.

"So, do you forgive me?" Tony looked at his daughter with hopeful eyes.

"I'm still upset with you...but I guess I'll forgive you're letting my boyfriend stay for a bit."

"I love you y/n/n, you know that right?"

"And I love you too dad." The two shared a hug for the first time since the spilt of the Avengers, finally feeling as if they had a family again.

"Is this a bad time to ask: where exactly am I staying?" Peter interrupted.

"Jeez kid, can't you see we're having a moment?" Tony rolled his eyes.

"Come on," y/n laughed, "I'll show you to your room."

"Remember to use protection!" Rhodey called out after the two teens. He received a shove from Tony and a middle finger from y/n. Yup, all was finally going to be right in the compound again.

Despair Clause Episode 1

(Scene) Inside the hall of the castle, three guys are chit chatting at the bottom of the stairs that lead to the throne. One is blond with a pony tail dressed in blue royal atire (Otio), one has red spiked hair dressed in black and red armor(Pila), and one has messy black hair, dressed in casual clothing(Fregit).

Pila: yo Fregit, are you still hanging out with Skunk?

Otio: Yeah I've been wondering that too, haven't seen the little dude around recently.

Fregit: Nah he moved to Perditus recently with his family. Honestly it's kinda weird that so many of the poor have been moving there but everyone says that since it's newly built the economy needs literally anyone to move there for the city to survive.

Otio: (Shrugs) I doe know, sounds a bit fishy to me.

Pila: Don't you know anything bro. (Taps Otio on the head) There's a reason that towns have people in them and its not just because that's the way things are. Population leads to transfer of goods and wealth which in turn leads to businesses starting. Perditus is an experimental town that is testing the nature of our poor.

Fregit:(shifts in front of Pila) Basically they are moving a bunch of our poor their to see if they will prosper with an extreme amount of opportunity available to them and in turn giving them a chance to gain a skill by working at one of the many jobs in the town that are lacking in man power.

Pila: Hey,(punch Fregit in the back of the shoulder and shift to face both siblings) I was going to explain that but whatever.

Otio: I honestly stopped caring after I asked. Right now I'm just wondering what is taking dad so long. He summoned us but it feels like we've been waiting for ages. Did the old geezer forget.

(Footsteps) Distant voice bellows: So now I'm an old geezer am I?

(All three siblings kneel)

King Ficum: Otio(Otio Looks up), Pila(Pila looks up),Fregit(Fregit looks up),... I have summoned you three here because it is finally time that to choose your path in life. Otio will become king after I pass so his future has all but been decided for him. He will begin training with a sword immediately, alongside studying politics and shadowing me when I feel necessary (Otio groans) (King Ficum scowls). As for you two, you must make something of yourself. Forbid it as I may, of something were to happen to your older brother the next would succeed him and so forth. Furthermore your accomplishments will bolster our families reputation making it easier for your brother's ascension to the throne after my passing. For if you are the most worthy of the throne in the eyes of the public, your support of your sibling who is trained in the way of leading a nation will assure the nation in his crowning. You do not have to come up with an answer today but

Pila: Actually father,(Phila Stands up) if l may, I've already decided what I want to do with my life.

King Ficum: (intrigued) hmm?

Pila: With your permission, I would like to join the Guild and become a Hero!

King Ficum: Hero ranking requires you to be granted a Gun by the Guild. Being as they are a new Technology, they are difficult to get a hold of however seeing as you are my son I might be able to pull a few strings.

Pila: Thank you dad!

King Fica: But son, are you sure that is what you wish? The reason guns are granted is because Heros are required to fight on shore when an attack first arises. That means you'll be on the front line. Is that really what you desire?

Pila: It is. Not only is it a good way to earn publicity quickly but it is also the best and most direct way for me to protect our Nation and its people.

King Ficum: I see... Consider it done. And you Fregit, might you have a path you would like to follow?

Fregit:(Fregit looks up) I um... Well... Not that... Um..

King Ficum: It's alright Fregit, take your time. You do not need to decide now. You are the youngest after all so there is no need for haste.

Fregit: O,k...

King Ficum: I will be taking my leave now but boys, be sure have a nice day today. It would be a waste for this beautiful weather to be wasted.

(King Ficim walk out of room)

Otio: ugh, I wish I could just be a lazy king.

Pila: We all know that you could be a lazy anything haha, the following title isn't actually important to you.

(Otio and Pila laugh)

Pila: Fregit is something wrong.

(Fregit stares off to the side then changes his gaze towards Pila)

Fregit: No, just a lot to think about that's all.

Otio: At least that's one thing I don't have to exert effort towards haha. My path it's already decided.

Pila: Well Otio I think you should get a head start on your Sword play practice don't you? I am going to have to practice more to if I am planning to be a Hero.

Otio: I'm actually going to go work on my sleep right now.

Pila: uh uh not today. This kills two birds with one stone.(Pila drags Otio by the collar of his shirt)

Fregit: hah bye guys.

(Scene, Fregit's room, Fregit laying in his bed on his back with his legs dangling off the bottom.)

Fregit: arghhhhh! (Fregit flails his limbs) What do I want to be?! Wendy's wing with me? How have I never thought of this until just now?

(In Fregits mind) Maybe I can be a Hero too... Argh no that would never work, Pila would out shine me for sure and I wouldn't ever amount to anything other than simply being his little brother... I guess I could always go into politics and make a large impact that way.. that might actually work..

(Blonde female child with frilled dress walks in the room)

Fas: Hi Fregit, what are you thinking about?

Fregit: A lot.

Fas: Heyyyyy. That's not a real answer. Come on, just tell meee.

Fregit: (light sigh) well you see Dad called Otio, Pila and I to talk to us about what we wanna be when we grow up (Fas: uhnhuh) and you see I have no idea what I wanna be (Fas: unhuh) Pila is going to be a Hero and Otio is being groomed for King but what's my role in all of this? What am I supposed to do? Who am I supposed to be?

Fas: Well uh, if uh, Pila is going to be a Hero then why don't you just be a Signer?

Fregit: A Signer? Like with the Association instead of the Guild?

Fas: Unhuh! Signers are basically the Associations versions of Heros aren't they brobther?

Fregit: Sorta but they all have to sign a despair clause and I don't really want to do that.

Fas: But if you find something suuper important you might even become more popular than big brobther Pila.

Fregit: You're right. I know what I'm going to do. Forget being a politician on the Council, I'm ganna be a Signer!

(Scene, Throne room. Fregit in front of the throne with King Ficum Siting on it)

(King Ficum slams his hand on his throne)

King Ficum: Absolutely not! Do you even know what you are asking?

Fregit: of course I do! This is the perfect way to bolster our legacy from both ends of Membership. If I become a famous Signer and Pila a famous Hero then we'll have a position of influence in both the Guild and the Association!

King Ficum: I will not allow it! It is much too reckless.

(Otio walks infrom the right out from behind the curtain that leads to the throne greenroom)

Otio: he's right you know.

Fregit: Otio?

Otio:(otio approaches Fregit) Signing a Despair Clause is risky business, depending on the amount of power you get you might just stub you're toe when the contract is fulfilled but if you end up obtaining a decent amount of power you could easily end up immobilized down in the Chasm with your whole party dead. Something like that would surely insure your death. Even if the contract itself can't cause you to die it can easily lead to it if you're unlucky. Why don't you just become a politician on the Council instead? (Otio arrives in front of Fregit)

Fregit: Because I don't want to! This is the path I have chosen for myself! Why won't you support me Otio?!

Otio: (places hand on Fregit's head) Because I care about you you dummy.(Fregit gazes at the for) Can't we forget about this and move onto something more practical?

Fregit: (in a sad tone) I guess.

Otio: Tomorrow come meet with me in the court yard and I'll teach you sword play, after that I'm sure Pila would be happy to teach you Gun play. He really loves that new toy of his. If you want to become strong this is a much more practical way to go about it. Hell instead of a Signer you could be a Stander or a Runner to support Pila if you want to be a part of the action. How does that sound?

Fregit: actually, that would be great, I'm going to head to my room for a bit but I'll see you I the morning tomorrow for practice. (Fregit smiles)

(Fregit walks away)

King Ficum: I see having you shaddowing me is already starting to pay off.

Otio: Naturally, I may be lazy but when it comes to my family, I will always protect them.

(Scene, Fregit's room, fregit sitting on his bed with his leg up and his hand on his knee.)

Fregit: Otio's right, I can't become a Signer and wander the Chasm the way I am. I need to become stronger.(Fregit stands up and throws his jacket I've his shoulder) Guess I'll have to take him up on his off after I sign a Despair Clause. Thanks for the offer Otio!(fregit hops out his window)

(Scene castle courtyard,night with camera aimed at the sky)(gunshot x3) (gunshot x2)(camera pans to face Pila)

Pila: Dammit I just can't get the hang of this thing!(Otio walks up)

Otio: looks like you got the hand of it to me. From what the target shows you haven't hit anything less than the ring around the bullseye.

Pila: That's not good enough, not for me at least.

Otio: If you're looking for some advice I may be of some help. While eavesdropping before the council meeting I overheard that unlike swords you're going to want to double down on that grip of yours, also you're going to want to hold your breath before pulling the trigger and exhale after. That should improve your aim just a bit.

Pila: Wow Otio, color me impressed. Shadowing dad had really done wonders for your usefulness haha.

Otio: that seemed somewhat of a backhanded complement (chucklr).

Pila: (chuckle)that's because it was.

Otio: Well I'll have you know I have actually been quite useful. Today I was even able to give Fregit some decent advice. He was dead set on becoming a Signer and I was able to explain to him why that was a reckless and dangerous decision. (Pila's face turns to a face of scepticism) He even smiled after and told me that he was going to his room to rethink his decision. I'm pretty awesome!(Pila interrupts Otio mid sentence)

Pila: Otio, do you not know Fregit at all. I promise you he's not in his room right now. He's almost certainly on his way to a library to sign a contract as we speak of he hasn't made it to one already.(You can visually see that a light bulb goes off in Otio's brain)

Otio: Oh no.

(Scene, castle bedroom hallway, camera pointed down the hall at the floor)(Otio's running legs pop into view)

Otio: (shouting)Fregit! Yo Fregit! I have something important to talk to you about!(Fregit's bedroom door slams open. Its empty)(camera switches to a cake of Otio's mouth and chin) Tsch, dammit. (Otio yells) Block, come here, I have a task for you!(camera switches to floor behind otio and pans up a pair of leather boots with green straps)

Block: So, my protection services finally needed.

(Scene, outside tattered old library)(neon open sign hangs above door) (fregit is holding a flashlight that is pointed towards the library)

Fregit: looks like I finally made it. Now to find a Dolordare and sign a contract!

(Fregit walks through the door)(edison bulbs light the main open entrance, after the entrance are rows of bookshelves, mostly empty but glowing as if a spell is cast on them, down the row of bookshelves are lanterns light by fire keeping the shelves visible but dim)

Fregit:(cough x2) You'd think that the Library nearest to the castle would be in better shape but this thing looks like it's going to fall apart.(Fregit walks down a bookshelf isle with his flashlight aimed for extra light) Actually, it looks like no renovations have been made to this place since after Grandad was king. Guess my father has a favorite power and it's not the Association.

(Large creak comes from next row over) (sound of books falling comes from next row over)

Fregit:(draws a knife he got from the castle's kitchen) Who's there!

Voice: Nooooooobooody... (Eerie,high pitch, child like voice laughs with an uncomfortably long giggle)

Fregit: (thinks to himself)*well that's obviously not true* Show yourself!

(Creature that looks like a chao but with a tail, long arms and a face that is void but with tentacle pops up in Fregit's face)

(Fregit falls on his bottom and holds his knife in fron of him)

Fregit: who are you?

Voice: I am a Dolordare, I keep this library safe along with the books inside although I do not clean much. You may call me Dust

(Fregit stands up and lowers knife)

Fregit:Well Dust, I'd like to form a contract with you.

Thank you so so much for all the love and support for this series. It had been fun to write so far and I hope to have many more parts to share with you. I am also open to suggestions too for those who have played and want to see how a certain choice would fit in this story. (If it doesn’t quite fit into the timeline or progression I’d be more than happy to write a sort of side drabble as a ‘what if’.

Curriculum electives were the indisputable bane of the life of an art student- or perhaps that was just an ailment you suffer from and preemptively unleashed on the world. It wasn’t enough for a university to expect you to complete all the classes in your designated major but they also wanted you to branch out and explore opportunities outside of your allegiance. Retrospectively, it made sense you supposed, outside of campus you would never just be approached by one element. It would be inrovocable to be practiced in various tasks and talents.

Talents that could have been more useful to you such as learning another language or primping for a new trade but of course you went with political psychology- as if it weren’t discussed enough with the root core of the class.

“This isn’t a class you can just pass based on your imagination,” you friend urges beside you. After an hour and a half of sitting through a very invigorating lecture of influential policies and underhanded decision making, you weren't even sure if you had enough creative muse to even pass your own classes. If the professors dry speech wasn’t enough, then came the content of their lecturers that left you wondering how this government hadn’t fallen from the multiple knives sticking out of its back.

“But that's what I have you for right?” You jeered with forced giddiness, though your exhaustion was audible as well. As much as you wanted to force all the blame on the class, in truth you were still struggling to discredit your inspiration theme for this years showcase. With knowledge of Carl Stanfred supporting you from the sidelines, the pressure was becoming suffocating. The last thing you felt like balancing on top of it, was the theory of evolution and how the introduction of androids was threatening it.

You wondered what Markus would have to say about that speculation.

The hand on your shoulder jerks you out of reviere and you couple the frown with a sincere grin. “This is honestly the easiest class you could have taken. I didn't just offer it to you as a cry for help. Most of it is just opinion based but everything you write still has to have merit to seminars- which most of them you have no recollection of.” They groan as your smile descends into sheepishness. “I give up.”

“I’ll pay more attention,” you promise, some genuine integrity in the statement. With labor laws being threatened by the assimilation of androids, the subject of their imminent take over had bled into almost every lecture. It was something you could confirm as it was the only point in which you vaguely become responsive.

Even when they weren’t being persuasive, they still mastered the ability to be an invigorating individual, always drawing you in without question.

A reply fleeted in preparation against your tongue only to have the moment torn away by a sharp alert against your thigh. After a short fumble you were able to retrieve the device, fingers increasing with insistence when the sender’s identity was discovered.

Your friend’s rambles melted beyond the bliss of a smile as you teetered between a multitude of replies to send back. Short messages like this weren’t uncommon but each new once brought a new emotion, all stored away in your inbox with no intention of ever being deleted.

In your separate space you missed the lag in your pace, not noticing how you suddenly became the leader while you Mr friend trailed back to peek at your invested distraction.

“Oh whose Markus?”

Too invested in the reply, you answered without ramification, missing the answering furrowed brow.

“Mr. Stanfred’s android.”

“Why is an android texting you?”

Flicking your thumb up in a motion to fade the screen, you shrugged in place of any real argument. The question lacked a paste of accusation and you withstood it without the need of a defense, it was meee curiosity.

“Would it be more plausible for Mr. Stanfrod to?”

The response had its intended reaction all the same, their face crumbling at the seemingly more ridiculous alternative. Gradually they picked up the pace, leaving you to your stale mischievousness.

“...this is the one situation where that excuse it acceptable.”

Laughing you grab their arm and pull yourself along with their pace. Ever since the rise of android intelligence there had been an increasingly unexplainable grey area in conversation. Almost similar to a void where all conspiracies and theories were stored. Androids had been around for a few years now but their impact never ceased to unravel new phenomena.

Markus was the leading case in your unofficial investigation. He was the first android you’d uncovered that seemed to provoke the public safe space that androids were just mindless obedient objects. The thought should have frightened you in lieu of older movies warning humanity of this farce. But more than anything, you just wanted to be a part of it. Whatever world that held him and all his mysterious.

Social media in Adam Lambert’s life&career

It’s been so long since I’ve written anything longer than a tweet about Adam, but this stanning lethargy doesn’t reflect the level of my interest in the man. It may appear so, but can the lack of online presence automatically imply the lack of interest? In today’s state of affairs, when artists have carefully constructed and heavily monitored internet presence, when YouTube views are everything and the most powerful politicians seem to pay more attention to Twitter than their jobs, it would be understandable if it could. The www. has finally become literally that – a worldwide group chat, where presidents tweet, where actors, musicians and sportsmen keep vlogs on YouTube, writers publish their essays on Facebook, and everybody comments.

Adam Lambert has chosen not to do so. In an era when YouTube stars become singers who get Saturday Night Live slots where they whisper the lyrics into a microphone, and when the top trending video which garnered more than 30 million views in a day is one of a reality star announcing her pregnancy, Adam has taken a quiet step back in the past few years - and I together with him. I couldn’t help it. Twitter has lost its appeal to me ever since a constant possibility that Adam could see a particularly flaily or witty tweet was no longer an option – the magic of giddy anticipation was gone. For all intents and purposes, Adam has semi-abandoned Twitter and moved to Instagram; a Facebook affiliated app which I never took a liking to.

I was upset and a little resentful. I didn’t understand why. Not only did I have to suffer the cruel Atlantic Ocean between us, but now we were on different online apps, which is a fate way worse than living on different continents, according to cyber sense of geography. In my bitterness, I even had an occasional mean thought on the subject. Oh yeah, that’s because he can ogle hot guys there. What about MEEE? Or, even worse: it’s because of the filters. The man LOVES a good filter, the vain queen. Or, absolutely the worst: he wanted to escape the twitter crazies. It was the worst because I should have known that the crazies are everywhere. I was bitchy, mean, and so, so wrong. This essay is my redemption. The price I want to pay for my stupidity, because Adam does have a social media presence, albeit not as aggressive as I might like. There is a reason for that, which he has already given. I had read it before, but it flew right over me like a sparrow, equally tender and fragile, leaving my head unruffled and thoughtless as if nothing had happened.

Even on his preferred social network, Adam’s behavior is somewhat atypical, in a sense that he doesn’t hesitate to share less than perfect photos. Unfiltered, sweaty, in-your-face, flaking makeup photos of the realistic kind - a rare occurrence among the Hollywood hotties. But he is a geek like the rest of us. The anticipation of waiting for the first photos to appear when he has a concert is one of the best parts of being his fan. Adam is incredibly photogenic, but sometimes, those photos are low quality ones, taken by fans on their phones, from pretty unflattering angles. Adam somehow manages to look great in most of them, despite the low angles and the fact that great physical exertion makes everyone look awful. Being photographed in the middle of an adrenaline rush while singing from the top of your lungs for two hours is challenging. His facial features almost rearrange with strain, but Adam simply knows how to pose and is rarely caught off guard – a life’s tiny miracle. I love those candid pictures. And Adam posts only the best of them.

It’s the professional photos where he shines the most. Those are usually true works of art, crispy sharp and simply stunning in their quality. I don’t think I’ve ever seen less than perfect professional photo of Adam. They capture the moments that would otherwise be missed and allow you to fully appreciate the visual side the concert. In videos, the focus is primarily on the sound and the movement, but if I had to choose which medium reflects Adam’s emotional state and journey during concerts best, I would choose photography. It’s a strange thing to say about a singer, but Adam has a very expressive face and body. It’s like their muteness and stillness don’t subtract, but add to the experience of Adam’s process of creation.

In addition to music photography, Adam posts everything and anything that’s important to him, seemingly with no rhyme or reason. His Instagram page is a mess, a potpourri of professional photos, fan photos, album covers, photos of his family, friends, his dog, travelling photos, fashion photos, and all that in uneven levels of quality which most posters would never allow themselves. Adam has it all, from professional HD quality to grainy and blurry shots taken by a phone. It’s a far cry from carefully coordinated, handpicked and posted after a thousandth try stylish representation of other serious posters. He doesn’t juice for a week before taking selfies. He doesn’t always filter. He doesn’t always look pretty. He isn’t always all mysterious and artistic. He’s sometimes such a goofball. He is definitely an undisciplined Instagram user.

It’s a revealing fact. He deletes his posts sometimes, and I’m not sure if it’s the morning after self-filtering, or he gets the call. Social media can make or break a career nowadays. But on the other hand, you can be a successful artist without constant media presence – although it is a pretty rare occurrence. The only example coming to my mind is Frank Ocean. There are artists who have a modest number of followers and YouTube views, and yet they can and do fill up arenas, just as there are artists who have millions of followers and cannot have a decent tour.

In Adam’s case, I feel like he is past making or breaking his career online. At this point, he doesn’t need a heavily moderated Instagram page or a vlogging channel to achieve anything - other than making me happier, that is. The fact that I would love if Adam was more present, by engaging with his fans more, or, in best case scenario, vlogging about his life and career (I would sell my firstborn for that), doesn’t mean much in grander scheme of things. Adam has allowed himself the luxury of doing what he wants, and his Instagram page reflects that in the clearest of ways. I am not saying he wouldn’t benefit from having 50 million followers on Twitter or Instagram, but, he just doesn’t have that. If he can’t get it from doing his job and being who he is, he will never get it anyway. He refuses to participate in the social media race. So, unlike many a budding YouTube star trying to make it in other fields by creating an ideal, unrealistic impression of themselves, with their uniform, heavily filtered, grayscale artsy photos, Adam’s multifarious posts do reveal a lot simply by not being what one would expect. He’s a rebel just for kicks there.

Oh, there is some vanity there; he isn’t above it nor does he pretend to be. He smizes and pouts in many filtered photos and videos, enjoying his flawless skin provided by Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom’s filtering system, turning his head like this and like that like a Valley girl – but that’s just Adam playing with his toy. He has this proclivity for ridiculous behavior; that and the fact that he loves the ageless chibi art of Creative Sharka makes me sometimes think that he has entered a serious fear-of-getting-old phase. It would have been true if he posted such photos only, which he most definitely doesn’t.

Adam is a naturally beautiful man, why does he have to goof around like that? Well, because he is so much more than that. Because more than stunning good looks, he has a killer sense of humor. Because more than looking pretty and feeding his vanity, he loves having fun. He mocks himself, too. “I swear I didn't realize I was making full duck face” is his own comment on a truly astounding full duck face he made while trying to credit Valentino for a clothing item. He loves stand-up comedy. He’s watched the Amy Schumer Leather special, and the Ricky Gervais Humanity special, and posted about both shows. That’s how I know.

There’s a selfie which he took while Antinous was being tattooed on his torso – a particularly painful experience, according to him; hence the awkward facial expression. The photo is so ridiculous and unflattering that it immediately reminded me of the comical selfies which Ricky Gervais takes all the time, trying to look as ugly as possible in them, thus expressing his mockery on the worldwide mania of posting unrealistically perfect photos. Adam has a comedic streak a mile wide, and not only does it come out in concerts and movie roles such as his part of Eddie in the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but also in his Instagram page as well. Unlike Ricky, Adam just wants to laugh at himself. Yes, he sometimes looks ridiculous and weird - don’t we all? He’s no bullshitter, and never will be.

Now would be a great moment to mention his Grandma June alter ego. So, Adam has decided it would be great to make himself look forty years older, name the character Grandma June and rant throughout several videos on many a current topic. Who? What? Adam, the most eligible gay bachelor of several times? Adam, the Zeus in a thong sex symbol for many? Unbelievable. Waves of discomfort could be felt throughout the shallower waters of the fandom. Was he just having fun with it? Was he mocking himself for overusing de-aging filters? Was he helping himself get over his own fear of aging by laughing at his own expense? Was it some kind of reverse psychology/psychotherapy via Snapchat filters? Was it to shock his fans who come to his page for hotness and beauty galore, only to find Grandma June blinking owlishly at them? The list is endless. It’s like he was saying, ‘yeah, I’m hot, but I’m also ridiculous, funny and a little bit on the crazy side.’ Who knows. It’s certainly less ridiculous than me putting words in his mouth. It is also very non-Hollywood of Adam, where ageism is rampant and the anti-aging industry flourishes, where kids start injecting botox as soon as they’re twenty and where a lot of people take faces they’re born with as a slight suggestion. Interesting topic.

We’re now traipsing deeper and deeper into Adam’s more hidden depths. This makes it sound like scrolling through his Instagram page is a voyage into the heart of darkness, the Apocalypse Now style; but it does feel adventurous after you parse through the regular job-related stuff. Such aside interests tell us a lot about him and his fascinations, like his love and respect for other artists. He is a true fan at heart, expressing himself unabashedly and passionately – so many pictures of Freddie, Bowie and George Michael, but also Goldfrapp, Demi, Lady Gaga, and all his musician friends. Sometimes, he puts the flailers in his own fandom to shame. I like that about him. I feel like it’s a level we can relate on. And I love that he doesn’t have cheap, tit-for-tat, I’ll-do-you-and-you-do-me mentality. When he says that he likes something, you better fucking believe that he does.

He also loves nature. He posts sceneries – the beloved Runyon Canyon, the Ibiza cruise, Mexico, Bali, Mykonos in Greece, Argentina, you name it - but, he will also post a photo of a single olive tree. The fandom speculated for three days about what it could possibly mean. He posted a video of a single butterfly flapping its wings, and a colony of bats, and a lonely gecko crawling up the wall and a mother duck and her ducklings swimming in the lake. Endless photos of Pharaoh don’t even count. Details from around him capture his attention in a way that he expresses his emotive, intuitive side by showing us the impact they have on him. In his private moments, he is a far cry from a wild rocker living his wild rock’n’roll life. He’s so much more than that. He’s a tree watcher. A butterfly watcher. A bird watcher. Life and observing life clearly excites him.

He also loves architecture. He will post pictures of streets and buildings, sculptures and monuments, from everywhere he goes, and he travels a lot. Someone else would probably spend all pre- and post-concert time in hibernation accumulating energy, but not Adam. He loves the bas-reliefs, ancient facades, the Greco-Roman culture, supporting columns and carvings of Venetian houses; but every now and then he will also post some strange things, like tombstones. He’s a traveler with a twist. When he goes somewhere new, he sometimes visits cemeteries. He’s been to Boston Cemetery and Buenos Aires Cemetery. He posted a photo of the entrance to Jesus’ tomb from his visit to Jerusalem. No matter what B Hollywood horror movies are trying to tell us, cemeteries are never about being creepy or frightful -- they are like a library for the imagination. Wandering cemeteries around the globe, reading headstones, thinking about the lives of the people there, the mind wanders into a thousand stories. It can be therapeutic. But, who knows what Adam’s motives were. All I know is that he is more than just a traveler – he is also a spiritual explorer.

In everything he does, he rarely stays within the lines. This diversity tells us that Adam is a complex man before he is an artist, and even less than he is an artist, that he is a promoting artist. His self-promoting campaigns are there, but ever so subtle and discrete - nothing like the aggressive campaigning that has become obligatory nowadays. I’m not talking about the management or the label part in it, or whoever is in charge of his promotion; just Adam’s own role in it. A few tweets, a few Instagram posts, mostly just informative in nature, before a new release. Regarding concerts, a tweet before and after is a rarity. An occasional review. He will sometimes post great photos after concerts, though. I have no idea how to explain such behavior other than to say that he doesn’t want to do it, nor does he feel like he has to. Maybe he is of the ‘an artist should never reveal too much and keep a level of mystery’ persuasion. Maybe he believes the music will find its way to those who want to hear it. Or maybe he just finds it tacky, as I do, the ad nauseam self-promoting of certain artists. Who knows. I certainly wouldn’t find it tacky if Adam did it. We’ll see how Era 4 will roll out and if Adam will be more talkative then. The one explanation I personally find the most believable is that he is a well-mannered man who believes that you should let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; an outsider, and not your own lips; but that’s because I tend to attribute Adam superhuman qualities. He can’t be that much of a gentleman, can he?

He is not very verbose in his Instagram captions either; most of them, that is. His posts are usually with very little or no comment from him. He tags the people in the photo, or he gives credit to the photographer – he is pretty diligent about it. On few unfortunate occasions when that didn’t happen, we had a mutiny among the photographers which ended with bruised egos on both sides.

So sparse are his comments, that when you do bump onto a few loquacious ones, you just know that it must be something of utter importance or that he feels strongly about. You don’t have to guess anything then, or draw unfortunate conclusions, which is a game his fans like to play and that Adam likes to engage us in by dropping random hints. No game here – his words are loud and crystal clear, concise and to the point, and apart from bringing my attention to the relevance of such particular posts, they serve to remind me what a great thinker and an amazing human being Adam is. Those words are always about love and equality.

One of such glimpses into his more private, passionate side is certainly his love and appreciation for Creative Sharka, a fan who makes digital paintings and chibi art of Adam and the moments in his career. He has posted her art several times and even met with her during his tour - such gratitude and appreciation of a fan really warms my heart. It tells me what I already knew: that he is such a fan himself, a great lover of everything that inspires him and open in his heart for the reciprocal love exchange between artists as the highest form of flattery. He’s had such situation in his career several times, on various levels, but this one with a fan feels truly rewarding.

Creative Sharka gives him her art, but it doesn’t have to be a tangible thing. One of the most revealing and emotional comments he wrote under a photo from one of his performances reveals so much. It is a photo whose focal point are the backs of two people, two guys, who are leaning against one another in a hug, their heads connected, and they are facing Adam singing on the stage in the background. They are in the forefront, their body language speaking of love; Adam is in the background, perhaps inspiring such connection. His comment says, “Really in luv w this photo. So sweet.” I’ve never read Adam saying that about any picture, and it’s one of the amateur, fan ones, too – and all the more precious for that.

But, does he always feel the love? Do we? Most of the times, I am sure that he does. But I have always imagined Adam as a highly emotional guy, which also means a great capacity for sadness, too, especially with so many reasons for it surrounding us. There is one, literally one sad comment that I have encountered during all these years. It’s under a photo of Frank the Robot’s head, taken before the show, with the top half of it waiting patiently to be connected with its bottom half by diligent Queen crew, so that Adam can ride it and spew obscenities into the audience from its shiny, metallic head. “Sad Clown,” is Adam’s caption. I don’t know if he felt bad for Frank at that moment, or the words are about Killer Queen, but there is a possibility that the words are about Frank’s rider later on. Sometimes, he does have to hide his sadness and paint his smile on. Who doesn’t.

He truly belongs to one of the rarest of species – a beautiful man who becomes even more beautiful when he opens his mouth and speaks. Or sings. In the pre-Trump, pre-Brexit, pre-Vučić era, I used to take his words for granted. I believed everybody thought so, or almost everybody. I was spectacularly wrong. The bout of sadness that gripped me then is still not easing up. How can it? This Weltschmerz has affected everyone with a soul - Adam, too. Will our physical reality ever satisfy the demands of our minds and souls ever again? I believe so, as long as there are people like Adam, like Emma Gonzalez, like many others who are fighting for it. That is what hope sounds like. With rising urgency, Adam speaks up.

“Black lives matter. For all of u who totally miss the point of this movement, the GOAL is for all lives to matter equally. But as it stands, racism is preventing us from that ideal. We must fix the reality so we can grow toward hope.”

We must fix the reality… We really do, Adam. Faced with such thoughts, don’t all previous words about promotion and lack of internet presence sound frivolous? I am glad that this is how Adam feels. I am so proud of him for sharing his thoughts.

When he posted a photo of Freddie, pointing out the hypocrisy of the ruling US political party using Freddie Mercury’s music, some people seemed to have an issue with that. This was Adam’s reply:

“I realize that there are many different schools of thought frequented by people following me on social media. EVERYONE is entitled to their opinions and beliefs. Including me. This is MY Instagram page where I share my experiences and feelings. If you don't agree with something, that's perfectly ok with me - but I'm not going to refrain from being me, and no one is forcing you to either.”

And refrained he has not.

He’s spoken against the gun violence.

He’s spoken about Orlando. About Paris. About all mass shootings.

He’s also spoken at the Los Angeles Pride Resist March last year. Here are some of his words:

“I typically avoid publicly speaking about politics because of its divisiveness. People get real sensitive, and I ain’t trying to piss anybody off. But, this year things have gone way too far.

So I’m not speaking today about being a democrat vs. a republican. Today is about right vs. wrong. The current presidential administration has manipulated the country using fear and hate to gain power to divide us. Our differences are being used against us. And the shockwaves of this dangerous rhetoric have rippled throughout our community and beyond. And it fucking hurts. We’ve come way too far to stand by and watch our social progress be yanked backwards. It’s almost as if they’re going, ‘Eh, you’re different. You can’t sit with us.’ What the fuck is that? It’s childish and it needs to end now.

Our pride parade is usually an all out shit show of a party where we all dress up like crazy unicorns and prance around through the streets. Yeah! It’s a celebration of the progress we have made – our liberation, our freedom, our glitter. But this year, we are facing such dark forces that pride has taken on a deeper purpose. Protest. In his Love Letter to the LGBTQ community, which was published in Billboard magazine last year, he talks more about what his community means to him:

Should he speak more frequently? Adam has voiced his opinions time and again, but he won’t misuse the opportunity given to him. He has a sophisticated sense for not crossing the line between his art and his humanitarian fight. He never pushes anything under anyone’s nose; not his art; not his fight. He never uses just causes as a self-promoting opportunity.

This is all part of the reply to the question from the beginning about what the lack of social presence can mean. His social presence isn’t lacking, it is just of the unobtrusive kind. It’s all out there, only a few clicks away. Are we so used to the constant media shoveling content down our metaphorical throats that we can’t even register when something’s said only once?

Apparently, I am. Because I have already read Adam Lambert’s own explanation about deciding to moderate his social media presence and it hasn’t even made a blip on my radar at the time. I won’t tell you where his words are from, you can try to guess. It’s a direct quote. It says everything.

How pathetic now seems the discussion about flattering vs. less flattering photos? Don’t ask this man about the size of his gauges for a hundredth time and expect him to engage with his fans more. But Adam does, he does engage, for he isn’t a mean man and he answers the same trivial questions again and again. It’s perhaps a much better option than talking, I don’t know, about Weltschmerz. Sometimes, such discussions are better avoided, and not only that - he has already said what he wanted to say. It’s much more bearable to repeat the silly topics than the raw, emotional ones. The repetition hurts, and devalues the latter.

It really is a journey, from Grandma June, to cultivating self-love and True Individuality; only not to the heart of darkness, but to the one of lightness. It’s all him, the philosopher and the comedian, the Frank’s head rider and the march speaker. Read his words. Don’t forget them, like I did. Laugh with him, but also think with him and be sad with him.

“Same to you. Thank you for having us over for dinner.”

“Come now, let’s catch up! I feel like it’s been too long since we’ve really gotten a chance to talk...” Your mom was far more enthusiastic and outgoing than you, grabbing Shiori by the elbow and taking her into her own kitchen to gossip about who knows what...which left you and Shuichi awkwardly alone. Well, time to break the ice.

“So uh, my mom tells me you’re home from school too, huh?”

“Hm? Oh yes, I’ll be here for a few weeks visiting and then I’ll be returning. What about yourself? What are you studying?”

“I’m double majoring in Art History and Business Management, I’d like to get into curatorial studies in a museum...maybe eventually open up my own one day.” Wow that seemed like a far-off dream, but saying it out loud made it feel kind of real. Maybe Shuichi could tell that you really cared about what you were studying, because his eyes seemed to soften just a little.

“Wow, that’s quite a workload. I don’t know many people interested in that type of work. Does that mean you’re an artist yourself, or do you just enjoy studying the work of others?”

“Ahhhahaa...I’m shit at drawing honestly, maybe that’s why I like it so much? They can do things I could never do. ANYWAY, what about yourself, what are you stud-”

“CAN’T CATCH ME!!” Just then Shuichi’s little brother ran by, something precious and forbidden clutched in his hands. Of course he wasn’t watching where he was going and nearly ran right into you, but it was like Shuichi appeared out of nowhere and caught him just before the fatal impact.

“You know not to run in the house, what did mother tell you?”

“Yeah I know...sorry.” He walked away sulking, but stealthily pulled a cookie out of his pocket and stuffed it into his mouth.

“Your mom’s cookies must be pretty good for him to run away like that. I do love cookies myself...” Kurama let out the smallest cutest chuckle imaginable. His smile was finally reaching his eyes, and it somehow made them even more mesmerizing.

“Well yes she is quite good at baking...we’re also adults and can eat dessert before dinner. Would you care to indulge?”

“Heck yeah! Um I mean...yes, that would be wonderful thank you for offering.” He let out another light laugh as he led you into the kitchen. Your mom winked at you from your peripheral vision - ewwwww, gross mom.
