I don't like to follow bookstagram trends but I find one super interesting (it's definitely NOT reading a popular bookstagram book).

I'm currently working on creating a box to randomly pick the next book I read. I have hopes to lower my tbr, well with my erratic reading sessions and me ordering second hand books cause I can buy more, it's gonna be a harsh task. Also it's gonna helping me read the books I bought to step out my comfort zone and then I ignored them. But also books that are in my comfort zone but have been here for year. And since my apartment is very small, yet 1/3 books if I avoid the same book lot of time, I will get rid of it.

BUT

While crafting this at past 10pm in the middle of the working week cause I needed to do it now (didn't finish considering the numbers of unread books I read), I have been struck by a sudden illumination.

Maybe, and really maybe, it's a hypothesis, I could apply the jar stuff for the daily stuff I have to do, chores, administrative paperwork, everything a normal human adult has to do. Maybe I could pick a task to do every day and it feels less overwhelming. I definitely need to try it.

I think the 'the jedi use child soldiers' thing is stupid for a lot of reasons, but among those is that this is a complete misunderstanding of how children's media works. Kids want to see themselves doing amazing things and giving that an in depth analysis that boils down to 'all these adults are evil' is poor, bad faith, media criticism.

That being said, if you compare Star Wars to just about any other YA work, the jedi are miles better as far as child care goes. Canonly every single one of these 'kids in danger' has a dedicated adult who is ideally supposed to be with them to teach and protect them. Very uncommon for the genre.

So if people are mad at the jedi for this, I can't fathom what their reaction to other YA literature is. And if they hate YA literature, idk, maybe they shouldn't be reading YA. Just a thought.

#in defense of the jedi #pro jedi #the other reasons the child solider thing is dumb is that most padawans are not children #like ahsoka was considered young. Dooku was what 16 when he became one? Obi-Wan was 25 and knighted earlier than planned #even if they were knighted early because of the war (which i think is stupid and there is no evidence for that)#that doesn't make them all kids...#and the character we see as child padawans are clearly there for children to watch and enjoy #I mean unpredictable things happen but child padawans are not supposed to be facing danger alone #but eased into it by a trusted adult which is not what happens in ever other YA book #Honestly if you hate the jedi for this but don't equally hate every other adult in every other YA book #maybe you are just LOOKING for reasons to hate the jedi. In which case idk maybe examine why that is #and if you do hate all adults in YA maybe it is time to move onto adult literature because you grew up #which is awesome! I love adult books but judging kids media by these standards and hating people for wanting simple stuff #in their book created to be simple is kind of rude you know?#i realize this post is probably hitting a wasp's nest but I mean if you want to take what I say out of context #(because in context I didn't do or say anything wrong)#well that says more about you than me doesn't it #my thoughts

been thinking of Loki as a vengeful ghost/demon that tries to kill Thor after dying on Jotunheim except instead of killing Thor straightup Thor's on a quest following a trail of weird clues and strange happenings across multiple realms sort of? so Loki is just leading him around not showing himself but very much heartbroken in the distance about how Thor just 'moved on'. Meanwhile on Thor's end it's very evident in how Thor handles quests once Loki is gone that he still follows all the advice and suggestions Loki made, and tries to consider what Loki would have done when he does things.

#im not writing it because i have too many works in progress already but do you see my vision #do you understand the vibe i am going for #tragic death Loki and Thor who never processed Loki's death beyond 'he's not here right now'#and this is maybe like. way after Loki's death. like at least a century later so no Thor doesn't immediately suspect anything #is it strange that he's witnessed multiple similar occurrences and connecting clues across multiple realms like they're for him?#yes.#but he thinks he's being so suave and detective about solving this mystery and suspects a powerful malicious demon figure to be behind it #not his dead brother who he feels wholly responsible for having died since he was the one that dragged them to Jotunheim for fun #Loki who died confused and resentful about so many things and upon realizing he's Not Exactly Stayed Dead deciding he was abandoned #because no one returned for his body but they also never explained anything to him which meant he had to seek answers himself AFTER HE DIED #reasonable to say he wasn't happy about it and isn't out to hurt random strangers #but Thor and Asgard?#he has a vendetta and he has it planned out so neatly #sans the part where he actually. kills Thor. because he only thinks he wants that #he would do it too if Thor didn't get reasonable about Loki wanting revenge at the end #'when did Thor get mature' Loki wonders bitterly. like it's such a mystery

tdov was like a week ago already but I just wanna say when I came over to vacation slash help my sworn brother move flat he told me, "ever since you said you wanted to get top surgery I've been thinking about it. it's straight up number two on my bucket list"

I dont got meds or therapy lmao Im bootstrappin here #but yeah early last year his bf offered to get me meds and I... turned it down... I think I was worried abt like. idk. something #but one year past looking back Im fully like that was a stupid move you shouldve gotten meds. youve once again fucked urself baku #but yeah with that kinda realization Ive also come to realized I've somewhat? accepted. that I'm just gonna be. like this #this in light of a number of likely chronic stuff too (hence my balloon-like constitution lmao) and #that's kinda bled into the rest of me without me really noticing #but him bringing that up fully unprompted... kinda jolted me out of it #its just. really incredibly sweet. that someone doesn't want me to settle for what I make do with #and like. preps for that work. just kinda held my hand and told me it's possible to do this actually #I didn't really express how I felt very well in that moment I think my brain is very bad and I process emotions with like a day of delay #but. well. i lost this round....

#sometimes things get lost. like I've turned this place upside down 50 times and it hasn't turned up lost.#and when that happens my entire life becomes 'find that thing' even if there are no immediate consequences. it still feels like a huge deal #if it costs more than $20 to replace then my entire life implodes until i find it or completely wreck myself looking for it #BUT NOT TODAY!! today i didn't look for the thing AND i spent a lot of time drawing this instead of working #he. was right.
