No. 9 - IndiGo
A very different type of bonus review - I'm here to stop talking about history and start talking about current events. Nobody has requested IndiGo, but IndiGo has requested that Airbus sell them a record-breaking 500 A320-family aircraft as an absolutely wild opening to this year's Paris Air Show. That is, to put it in context, the largest bulk order of jets by an airline ever, in history. While aircraft orders by companies are generally negotiated behind closed doors and thus I can't say how much money is actually changing hands, the approximate value of this deal is hypothetically 55 billion US dollars.
This will more than double IndiGo's existing 308-strong fleet, consisting of A320-family jets and ATR-72 turboprops. They are already the largest operator of the A320neo in the world, and have a truly stunning 999 aircraft on order.
Tumblr media
Well. Assuming nothing changes, we will have a thousand more of these in the world by 2035. How do I feel about that?
Those living in the West might not be familiar with IndiGo (full name InterGlobe Aviation Ltd., not to be confused with defunct United States carrier Indigo Airlines; callsign "IFLY", not to be confused with Russian charter airline I-Fly) but even without this truly prodigious order they're pretty massive. In fact, they're the largest carrier in the world's most populous country. Currently headed by the former CEO of KLM, they are also the largest low-cost carrier in all of Asia.
Tumblr media
It's interesting, but somehow this livery doesn't feel like it has much gravitas to it. That's fine for a low-cost carrier, it just feels a bit surreal that this is the current record-holder for largest bulk order of aircraft. Not the Delta-American-United triad, who already have 1,000+ aircraft fleets. Not Emirates and its massive A380 and 777 fleets. Not even a huge flag carrier looking to expand. They're not even a full-blown ULCC, and I could have imagined Ryanair making an order of this magnitude to try and rapidly expand way before I would have bought it from IndiGo. My guess would be that they're feeling a bit threatened by the two massive threats of the Lions Air and Airs Asia, but that's just speculation and also not what I'm here to talk about. I just cannot stop being astounded by this. I don't feel like any airline needs 500 aircraft total, but what would I know?
Tumblr media
One neat little touch I'd like to point out is that this plane feels like it had a lot of thought put into how it's seen from the bottom. In particular, the little stick figure/airplane dot thing(?) IndiGo logo is on the bottom, and the little blue swooping line is made an active part of the design under the nose, rather than just trim, the same way as it is on the tail. The logo in particular is super recognizable. I will say, though, the way that it's just dots could probably make people mistake it for some sort of safety lighting rather than iconography, because it does resemble the sort of markers you'd see on the ground at a runway.
Tumblr media
Seriously, what is that logo? Is that an airplane? I think it's supposed to be an airplane but it is so simplified it's no longer instantly recognizable.
Tumblr media
The font used for the wordmark is ITC Bauhaus, which, sure, that's nice and big and striking, and its branding has not changed since 2006. The color...sure is indigo, though the actual livery on the airplanes pretty heavily skews towards general blue. (We're done with jetBlue, but blue jets will haunt me forever, it seems.) I wish it was a bit bolder on the actual fuselage, because it's a bit hard to read at times with how thin the letters are.
That said, I have to point it out: Indian carrier operating primarily domestic flights in India, which will mostly be flown on by Indian people, the majority of whom will speak Hindi (the fourth most spoken language on the planet), and yet has the airline's name and website in English but not Devanagari. (EDIT: I have been told by somebody who actually lives in India that English is probably the more broadly accessible choice for a lot of the country, so this is actually not an issue.)
Tumblr media
I kind of wonder if ATR operators are drawn to dark swooping curves on the bottom of their planes, because Azul had the same sort of basic shape around the belly fairing. I think it looks good on the type, don't get me wrong, I'm just curious now if that does factor into the thought process.
I think this livery is exactly as busy as it needs to be. It pinches in neatly under the nose, and I like how it travels up to cover the lower half of the tail. It feels uncommon to see that sort of tail-fuselage integration. It's nice how the light blue line alternately joins and diverges from the darker main body, creating a dynamic feeling, and I like how it's used as almost a rule for the placement of the logo on the tail. (I do wonder why the little plane logo couldn't go there instead, though. Or on the nacelles. Its absence everywhere except the belly seems weird. There actually is a small one on the nose under the windows, but if you can't see it from a distance I don't think it counts.)
Tumblr media
The airline operates a total of two freighters, but I just want to point out the commitment to the Go bit, which I like. It's a lot less of a common branding thing than you'd expect, honestly. Surprised more airlines haven't jumped on that.
Tumblr media
I really love seeing prop covers on planes. Those are her gloves.
I'm not sure how I feel about the fact that the blue fully retreats in that little center-back fuselage section. From a few angles you get just a sliver of it visible in a way that feels awkward, but in theory I do like it. A bit of white breaking up that line isn't a bad thing.
Grade: C+
As in, we will c +500 of these in the next twenty years.
Tumblr media
Well, this has been just a fun little extra. It's a good thing I don't totally hate this, because 500 more of these are about to be flying to an airport near you! (More airports near more people, because I think 1,200 planes for just their current 101 destinations would be serious overkill). What an exciting start to the Paris Air Show, and I live in fear that I'll be forced to rush to my keyboard again when [throws dart] Binter Canarias announces that they [spins wheel] are going to start operating a fleet of secondhand A380s.

“Little! Get over here!”
At least one man in her life was welcoming of her presence, her stepfather opening his arms as he strode across the kitchen to embrace her, the giant of a man swinging her around. “I missed the hell out of you, kid! I didn’t expect to see you back here so soon either!”
“I missed you too!” she enthused, being set down again, slightly dizzy from the swinging. “And no, I didn’t expect to be either. Where’s mom?” She’d noticed the driveway was absent of her car.
“She’s out with friends for the evening, so it’s just you and me,” he replied, pulling out his phone and calling up Uber Eats with a grin. “You hungry? I could murder someone for a double pepperoni and spicy beef pizza.”
Her mouth watered at just the thought. “You’re on. Do we have beer?”
David pointed at the fridge while ordering their food, choosing a side of chicken wings and some mozzarella sticks to go with before he sat down, taking the beer she passed to him with thanks. “So, how come you didn’t stay for longer with Angel? I thought you were gonna be there with him for a few days before coming up for Sanjay’s third birthday this weekend?”
With Bee and Sunni now back from India, Keri had been excitedly anticipating the day, getting to introduce her family to her love, which she was now about ninety nine percent certain wouldn’t be happening, with how strained things were. “I’d still be down there, but we’re mid-fight right now. I don’t really know what to do, or how things are gonna go in the future.”
It surprised David greatly, to hear such, especially since she’d only been back in the country for forty-eight hours after a three-month travelling stint. What on earth, he wondered, could have gone so wrong in such a short space of time? “Come sit, tell me all about it.” His large shoulder was the exact one she needed to cry on, which she physically did as she explained everything to him, David wrapping a large arm around her as she snuggled into him, the comfort of her stepdad’s embrace exactly what she’d needed.
“Well, I agree with you, little,” he began, reaching for the tissue box on the island and grabbing a few, Keri sniffing hard as he handed them to her. “It’s his issue to deal with, and if he don’t wanna, then you can’t force him to. He’s just gonna have to learn the hard way, and the hard way is gonna be losing you. I think this might make him sit up and take notice, though. I do. Angel ain’t a dumb guy, and I think that now he’s been faced with you not tolerating his mess, he’s gonna come through for you. If he doesn’t, then he’s crazy. Simple as that.”
“You don’t think I was too hard on him, just upping and leaving like that, effectively confirming it all in his head, his abandonment issues?” It had been a worry on her mind for the entire duration of her flight, and subsequent taxi ride home, her car left in the long stay at the airport.
“Psht! Don’t be dumb. If he doesn’t want to talk about it, then what did he expect? For you to just hang out there getting the silent treatment? You did the right thing. I mean I get it, you’ve just had a huge space between you while you were away, but in the wake of this blow up between you both, I think space is what you both need. Like I said, though, I think he’ll come through. Give him a few days to figure it out, and your phone will ring.”
Keri wished she could share in his optimism.
“Do you think I should contact him?”
He shook his head. “No, well, maybe just let him know you landed safely, but don’t bug him. I think you need to remain a little aloof, kid. Let him know there are consequences for him acting childishly, although taking the stand you did definitely enforces that point.”
Pulling out her phone, she quickly sent him a text that relayed such. ‘Just to let you know I arrived home safely, and no matter how bad things are between us, I still love you very much xx’
It was all she could do, really. Still, hours later, sitting with David having a horror movie night, she was sad to once again see that while Angel had seen the message, he hadn’t been inclined to reply. Managing to stay awake until 10pm, the tiredness hit her hard, yawning, taking her case and calling it a night.
Unpacking a few items, she looked around her bedroom, the space so homely and hers, yet it felt weird. She should have been in the space Angel made nicer for her seven hundred and eighty miles south, yet there she was, returned, and no boyfriend with her. She washed off her minimal makeup and brushed her teeth, applying her moisturiser and crawling into bed, falling asleep.
A few hours into that sleep, she found that just because she and Angel were physically separated, it didn’t mean that they didn’t or couldn’t find a way to one another, though.
“Well, this is awkward,” she began, standing in the eerie house again, looking at where he stood on the other side of the black obelisk, which looked to have grown a few more feet. Of course, it had.
He raised his eyebrows, but didn’t speak, shoving his hands in his pockets, his shoulders drawing up as he looked at the floor.
“Angel, come on. Talk to me. We always said it was easier in dreams, to communicate how we felt,” she tried again, walking towards him slowly. Like a young colt being approached with a bridle for the first time, though, he bolted. “Angel!”
He was out of there before she could stop him, Keri following him through the door into a void of nothingness, just an empty, desolate plot of land, turning back to not even see the house there behind her any longer. The obelisk, however, remained. If he wasn’t even prepared to deal with their issues even when they were dreaming together, then what hope did she have for them in reality? At that moment in time, not much of one.
Waking up the following morning, she had a welcome sight in the form of her mother, bringing in a tray with her, poached eggs on toast upon it, sprinkled with chives and truffle salt, just the way she liked them.
“Morning baby cakes!” she cooed, setting the tray down on the nightstand, Keri sitting up to hug her. “Awww, it’s so lovely to have you home! I crept in last night after I got back and gave you a little forehead kiss. I was so surprised when David told me you were here.”
“Yeah, there’s a reason for that, why I’m back a few days early,” she began, Meryl lifting the coffee from the tray and handing it to her, sitting cross legged on her bed. Keri had no idea how her mom would take it, but after revealing hers and Angel’s current issues, she found a surprising softness in her thoughts on the situation.
“He’ll come around; he just needs a little time. You know how I embarrass myself with how crazy I get, because I can’t quite deal with the fear I have of anything bad happening to you? Well, I suppose that’s in part an abandonment issue for me, too. I understand where he’s coming from, and I know that all he needs is some time to let it sink in. Maybe that’s a bit more than a few months and one stint of separation, but don’t be quick to write him off, honey.”
She wasn’t used to such an empathetic response from her mom, especially not one that was given in Angel’s favour. Meryl got it, though, from her own loss. “I get that you’re frustrated, but fear makes people act stupidly, even when they aren’t in any other situation. Angel might not be the brightest penny in the fountain, but he isn’t stupid. Hand on heart, I like the guy, and I hope it all works out.
“Anyway, I have to get moving. I have a half day at work, but I need to go shopping beforehand to get a gift for Sanjay. Apparently, he’s all about Disney at the moment, so that makes it easier. Enjoy your lie in and I’ll see you later. Love you.”
“Love you too, mom. Thanks for breakfast, and the chat.”
Meryl turned and blew her a kiss from the door. “Anytime.”
With little to do with her day, she got up and got ready, sending out a few messages to her friends to let them know of her return, Rachel the first to reply, telling her that she had nothing planned and that she’d pick her up in an hour for a hike. Goodness knows, she needed something to take her mind off the fact that her relationship was in a bad place.
While out, she of course told Rachel all about it, her friend giving her the same sage advice as her parents and Sharise had, sensing though that Keri didn’t really want to dwell on it, so keeping her spirits up and her mind off the man who she knew that beneath the issues she was having, she still missed terribly. While filling her day with anything she could to distract herself, she found that over the coming nights, he was there in her dreams, still unwilling to talk, all until the Friday night, three days after she’d arrived home, when he was absent from her dreams altogether.
“Keri, sorry to wake you, but a not so little surprise just turned up.”
Opening her eyes to see her mom sitting on the edge of her bed, roused by the gentle shake of her hand upon her shoulder, Keri yawned, stretching. “What is it?”
“Hold on.” Going to her bedroom door, Meryl smiled, beckoning him.
“Want me to leave my bag in the spare room?”
At hearing Angel’s voice, Keri was suddenly wide awake, sitting up with a start, turning on her nightstand lamp.
“No, you go in with her, it’s fine.” Meryl told him, touching a hand to his shoulder before leaving them to it. If he could get over himself and his insecurity enough to fly just under a thousand miles to see her daughter as a surprise, then she could get over them sharing a bed.
As soon as he closed the door behind him, he spoke the words she’d been hoping on hearing from him ever since their blow up. “I’m sorry, baby. I know that ain’t enough either, and that I’ve been acting like a fucking kid. I wanna do better, though.” He shrugged a little, looking uncomfortable. “Thought I’d start by surprising you, sorry it’s late, I couldn’t get a flight until 9pm.”
The part of her that was still angry with him for ignoring her rooted her to the bed for a moment, but the rest, the part that had missed him, longed for his arms, for him to stop being distant with her, it propelled her legs into finding the floor. Moving to him, she sank into his embrace happily. “I love you so much. Again, I’m sorry for acting like such a fucking dick.”
“I know you are, and I love you, too. You have to chill out about me being away though, baby. Really, if anything is going to ruin us, it’s that. And I know to a degree you can’t help it, but a lot of it you can, so to hear that you want to try gives me optimism.”
They moved to the bed, Keri scooting over, Angel quickly undressing down to his boxers and climbing in beside her. “I know, and you leaving like that gave me a fucking lot to think about. You ain’t gonna tolerate my shit.” He paused, his eyes darting around like they always did when he was under pressure. “I went and spoke to Sharise about it, she said I needed to pull myself together or risk losing you. I decided to pull myself together.”
It was relieving that her actions had prompted him to do a little introspection and much needed reflection on his actions, Keri about to tell him that before he continued. “This is why I walked away every time I saw you in our dreams. Wasn’t because I was still being a dick, it was because I needed to think more, to make sure I said everything right and not mess it all up.”
She didn’t look a hundred percent convinced. “I think you might’ve, Angel. Still being a dick, that is. You were still angry with me, weren’t you?
He nodded, his mouth twitching at the corner. “I was mad at you to begin with, that you left, but if I hadn’t acted selfishly, you wouldn’t have. I ain’t good with all this looking within for answers, though. Ain’t nobody ever made me accountable like that before.”
“I think the fact that you took the time to really contemplate that shows some growth you needed to go through, and that you were being selfish. I’m just scared that if I get back from Ireland and book a job that’ll take me away again in a week or so afterwards, you’re gonna lose your shit again.”
He held her to him a little tighter, kissing her head. “I gotta realise that it ain’t about me. I gotta stop being so damned needy. I did alright for those three months, but then freaked myself out all over again. It ain’t easy for me to be without you, I’m gonna do better.”
To hear him open up like that, it really did make Keri feel positive for their relationship going forward, that he’d taken the time to reflect, to seek advice from Sharise (who always gave well there) and then taken it upon himself to be there physically so they could begin to mend face to face.
“Well, you’ve got me for another four days, then I’m gone for five, but after that I promise, I’ll be around locally. I have a job with a girl who wants me to photograph her bat mitzvah up in Orange County in six weeks, but I’ll be there and back within a day.”
“And even if you weren’t, I still gotta get used to it,” he spoke candidly, stroking her hair.
She lifted her chin, kissing his throat, the coarse hair of his scratchy beard prickling her lips, humming fondly. “Yes, you do. Just know I’m always coming back, though. I love you.”
“I love you, too.” They fell into kisses then, both holding one another tightly, feeling soothed for the resolution they’d come to. Sleep soon blanketed them, falling asleep curled around one another, Angel the first to wake at 8am, Keri sleeping on. He went for a shower before dressing quietly, going downstairs to find David in the kitchen.
“Morning, dude! I was asleep already when you got here last night, it’s good to see you.” He welcomed Angel with, turning back to the coffee machine and pointing.
“Morning, and yeah. Coffee would be great,” he smiled, stretching with a yawn. “Where’s Meryl?”
A nod towards the windows revealed her location, Angel beaming at the sight of her and Rufus, playing with a soccer ball together. “A soccer playing bear, never thought I’d see that.”
“Nothing gives me more joy than to watch how he is with the girls, how he remembers them, thinks Meryl is his mom too. He was the size of a damned cat when they first found him, this tiny little scrap that wouldn’t have survived without his mother. She bottle fed him, had him in the bed with her, all of it. She can be bossy and sharp sometimes, but she’s such a sweetie beneath it,” he spoke with obvious affection for his partner.
“Yeah, I think warming to me. I wasn’t sent to the spare room last night,” Angel revealed, David’s eyebrows rising.
“She likes you a lot, Angel. Also, I did tell her that it was kinda stupid, so I’m glad she listened there! So, you guys all good again now?”
Angel took the coffee he was handed with thanks, nodding. “Yeah, I just gotta stop being an insecure ass, man.”
David laughed softly, shaking his head. “Watkins women are worth it, trust me.” He did, too, because he was right. Leaving him in the kitchen, he went to hover by the back door and have his first cigarette, watching the delightful scene ten feet from where he stood.
“Look at you doing your lamb bounce!” Meryl cooed, Rufus pinging around like the aforementioned baby animal, showing remarkable agility for something so huge. “Go get it, go on!” She kicked the ball across the turf once more, Rufus lolloping along after it, pouncing upon it before nudging it back with his nose.
“Damn, that’s cute,” Angel spoke, Meryl turning to smile at him.
“Isn’t it? He figured out if he bats it too hard or tries to get it in his mouth, he just pierces it, so he’s learned that a nose shove is alright.” After Rufus had brought the ball back again, he stood at the edge of the patio, looking over at Angel, making a soft noise in his throat before ambling towards him. “Stay there, it’s okay. That noise is his welcome grunt, I think he recognises you.”
Angel’s heart thundered in his chest, remaining glued to the spot, letting the bear slowly approach and give his legs a cautionary sniff, before he pushed his head under Angel’s hand, licking his wrist. “Go on,” Meryl encouraged. “He wants you to pet him.”
His hand found the coarse, black fur, Angel’s eyes widening a little, the moment amazing, petting a wild bear, Rufus seeming very content as he leaned against his hand, enjoying the scratch behind his ear.
“Wow. Fucking wow,” he exclaimed, feeling braver, holding his cigarette in his mouth as he ran both hands over his back, Rufus arching against them, making happy noises before turning and shoving the ball over to him, Meryl’s face a picture of delight.
“Aww! He wants you to play!”
“And go!” Kicking the ball, Angel laughed as he watched him run off after it, feeling a hand at his back, turning to see Keri.
“Look at you, bonding with our bear,” she cooed, hugging him, Rufus once again nudging the ball back, this time to Meryl again, bouncing with excitement. “I knew he’d love you once he got used to you.”
“I don’t think he’s the only ferocious creature who has either,” he spoke.
“I heard that!” Meryl yelled, narrowing her eyes at him, Angel’s wide grin finally making her thaw and laugh, shaking her head.
Life, he realised, could be simple and lovely when he actually let it be, spending time with his girlfriend, her mom, and the huge bear who apparently thought he was a dog, too.

I'm bored and depressed so let's rate each of the Beatles different eras based on how they looked because I can't think of anything else that would make me happier right now 🤭💕
I'm doing this individually, and we're starting with George because where the fuck else would we start but with our resident It Girl 💅🏻
Tumblr media
Teddy Bear (Pre-Beatles Era)
I'm not a huge fan of the Teddy Era myself but I have no choice but to respect it, as George does look good
This is the only time his hair is up instead of down during Beatles Era but it's still cute
He knew what look he wanted and stuck with it. I admire the dedication.
7/10 because if I saw him at a party or something he would definitely catch my attention
Tumblr media
Bowl (1962-63)
I'm not a fan and honestly I don't think George was either
As we know he hated having his hair cut, and they gave him the most cringe hairstyle ever and he just had to deal with it
But since he's George and he looks cute regardless it doesn't look as bad as it should have lmao
6.5/10 because George will never receive less than a 6 he is physically incapable of looking bad. The extra half point is also because I find the unibrow quite endearing 🤭
Tumblr media
Mop Top (1964-65)
Out of all the bowl-cut renditions this one is by far my fave
Every time I rewatch AHDN and Help! I can't get over how cute he looks
When it would get messy and become Onion Hair™️ >>> (see Beatles For Sale album cover for reference)
7.5/10 because it's cute but not my all-time favorite George era. Would definitely be an honorable mention though
Tumblr media
Shaggy (1966)
Softest era yet tbh
This was around the time they went to India so it's very clear that George is soon going to enter his truest form
They're not pictured, but this was also the era of the tiny circle sunglasses, which were an unbelievable serve
9/10 and I want to kiss him on the tip of his nose
Tumblr media
Spiritual Awakening (1967)
yes Yes YES
Long hair + mustache combo = hot sexy realness
I must also address the fact that I never thought facial hair was attractive until George. That's how much I love this
10000/10 absolutely perfect no complaints ever I'm in love 😍
Tumblr media
Victorian Vampire Realness (1968)
Also known as Cherry's Gender Goals
The only era where I can say I actually look like him 😌
I feel like it's missing something with the lack of facial hair, but the difference is not that significant
9/10 based on vibes alone, and I only deducted a point because I simultaneously want to be him and be with him. This confuses me.
Tumblr media
Get Up and Go (1969) (pls tell me you get that reference)
I hope to someday be even a percentage of how stylish this man is
The grown out shag and mustache does something to me 🥴
I watch the scene of him practicing his slide routine wayyy more than I should...
120000/10 I wanna run my fingers through his hair while we make out
Tumblr media
Hippie Jesus (1970)
There are several versions of this look, and the ones where his hair is a bit shorter is the preferred one for me.
Here, however, he looks like a whimsical forest entity and I have a certain appreciation for that
He looks very warm and cozy and that makes me want to hug him. I feel he would give amazing hugs 🥰
7.5/10 and I want to braid his hair
Tumblr media
Sophisticated Gardener (1971-72)
Okay. HEAR ME OUT.
I'M NOT A FAN OF BEARDS. We have already discussed that. SO WHY THE FUCK AM I SO ATTRACTED TO THIS
I do not like how hot he looks like this. It confuses me to the point that it turns me on even more.
43625749/10 I wanna lay on a blanket in his garden and make love for hours 🥵🥵🥵
Tumblr media
Pantene Commercial Applicant (1973)
DO YOU SEE HOW GLORIOUS HIS HAIR LOOKS
Paired with a mustache and oh my god I am on my knees
He also looks amazing in hats. Any and all hats 😁
100/10 he looks majestic and I wanna know his hair care routine
Tumblr media
Dark Horse Gender Thief (1974-75)
Alright listen here bitch (affectionate)
If I don't look like this or exude this energy at some point in my life I am going to be very upset
The BDE is off the charts and the proof of existence is irrefutable.
1000/10 he's sexy and we ALL know it. In my mind we're kissing on the mouth but whatever 😤
Tumblr media
Crackerbox Poodle (1976)
soft bby
wanna have tea and cookies with him (I don't even like tea but I would do it for him)
cuddles and blankets on cold winter days ftw
10/10 he would get me out of a depressive episode when no one else could 🥺💕
Tumblr media
Permalicious (1977-78)
Dilf (Literally. This was around the time Dhani was born)
Not a huge fan of perms but he still looks cool
The was also the continuation of the cardigan era from '76 so let's just say now I'm picking up on some hipster vibes if you know what I mean
9.5/10 I'd let him take me on a museum date and then to an overpriced coffee shop (I don't like coffee either but you get it). Would probably make out with him too.
Tumblr media
Mullet Dad(dy) (1979-80)
Hawaiian shirts and tacky necklaces we love to see it
THE EARRINGS OH MY GOD THE EARRINGS
He was so handsome in this era AND FOR WHAT
10/10 I'd sleep with him if he wanted me to
Tumblr media
Inverted Bowl (1981-83)
George bby what happened
Like Bowl but spiky(?)
Doesn't look terrible but it was the 80s what do you expect
7/10 and those points are mostly coming from the pattern on the shirt and the overwhelming dilf energy
Tumblr media
Long Lost Full House Character (1984-85)
This look is so 80s but I'm not mad at it
I didn't like it at first but the more I stare at it the more I fall in love with it
That could just be the power of George regardless of what he looks like but are we really gonna act surprised about that
50/10 he would 100% be able to seduce me by doing absolutely nothing
Tumblr media
Oof (1986)
Teddy Boy? More like Teddy Middle-Aged Man 😳
Babe what did you do
Still got a cute face but I don't know what to make of this hairstyle
7/10 this one and Inverted Bowl are in a race to the bottom lmao
Tumblr media
Author's Photo at the End of the Book (1987)
The dilfiest dilf to ever dilf oh mY GOD 🥴
He looks like a college professor and when I tell you I would have PERFECT attendance (there's a fic on AO3 about that if you're interested)
When I say I like older men THIS IS WHAT I FUCKING MEAN
36842957/10 Making love to this man would be one of the best experiences of my life. I've never wanted to fuck a man in his forties so badly PLEASE he would make me feel so loved and appreciated I JUST KNOW IT 🥵
Tumblr media
Nelson Wilbury (1988-90)
You already know (Dilf)
The End of the Line and Handle With Care MVs are something that can be so personal
He could talk to me about trees for hours and I would never get bored

I've been getting into baseball recently, and it's got me thinking about the weird push for Americans to get into soccer. (I'm not imagining that, am I? The weird disdain you see for people who prefer football?)
A lot of people in college would tell me that soccer was the only sport worth caring about, because it's so popular worldwide. I always thought that was a funny argument. Like, why should it matter to me that I'm watching the same game as someone on a different continent? Isn't it kinda cooler if there's a wide variety of games worldwide?
Baseball is the biggest in the US, I'm sure, but it's also huge in countries like Japan, the Dominican Republic, and Cuba... and that's really cool, I think! The fact that baseball resonates so much with the people there says something small, but interesting about both the sport and the culture and history of the area. And cricket is a big deal in India and Australia - it's not a sport I care about much, but I love how there are places where people do care. I just find stuff like that so cool, and it would really depress me to think that the only metric for how much a sport should matter is how many countries agree that it matters.
Not sure if this is anything you'd care about, sorry - just, booooo to globalism, I guess! Regional quirks are good for humanity!
So, first off, if you're just getting into baseball I'd enthusiastically recommend the PBS documentary Baseball by Ken Burns. I just started getting into baseball this year too (went to my first MLB game even) and it's a really great way to learn the history of the sport and why certain players and plays and teams and games are still talked about today.
Second, in America, soccer is the little known hipster Euro indie band of sports. It doesn't matter if it's good or not, it's just unpopular enough to be cool and it's foreign, so people who want to look down on American culture latch onto it. I don't really know why soccer never caught on in the US. It can't be because it's boring or slow, because baseball can also be boring and slow, at least before they implemented the pitch clock (which I think is the greatest change the game has even seen and I probably just made a lot of people very mad lol) and that's the third most popular sport in the country. It can't be because it isn't violent like football or hockey, because, again, baseball, and also basketball because basketball players are the literal softest athletes in the world when it comes to fouls and basketball is more popular than soccer. It can't be because there's too many white people--hockey--or too many non white people--basketball.
I dunno, I'm going off on a side quest here.
You're right, "the rest of the world likes this" is one of the stupidest reasons to like something. Hell, I vastly prefer the XFL over the NFL, and me and my husband are watching Slamball later on tonight. I've watched all kinds of combat sports, and things like Wipeout and American Ninja Warrior. I've watched pro wrestling and amateur wrestling. I've watched grappling fights. I've watched figure skating. Snowboarding. Sure, many of these I've only watched once or twice, but the sheer variety of sports that are out there, some regional, some not, is a great thing. You can always find something that appeals to you. Even if it's only you and a few other people watching. One of the great things about sports is its ability to connect a room full of complete strangers for a few hours. Whether that "room" is your living room, or a sports bar, or a backyard, or a stadium filled to capacity doesn't matter at all. As long as you're enjoying something and getting something out of it, that's all that matters. The "best" sport is impossible to determine with any objectivity. The most popular sport is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is what's fun to watch or play.
Besides, we all know the best sport is Blitzball anyway.

how do you think Anna and her parents relationship will be post Christopher death? And if you think Gabriel and Cecily will have a strain on their relationship toward each other due the loss of a child
~
this is such an interesting question, and one i've been wondering about myself for quite some time. thank you for sending it in, anon!!
i think anna would still be close with her parents. we see that relationship in every exquisite thing and i don't think it would change here. if anything, i believe christopher's death would bring them even closer together. it would be a challenge for sure, making the same old jokes and expecting christopher to be there to laugh or question them with profound logic only to be faced with silence, or looking over at the place at the table where he would have once sat and finding it empty (ow). but they would overcome it together.
not to mention alexander. he's only a child when his big brother suddenly goes away, and while shadowhunters are used to death from a young age, blahblahblah, he'd still feel the loss and not understand it properly?? it would be extremely taxing for anna and gabrily, especially once alexander starts having tantrums because he just doesn't get why christopher isn't there anymore. i imagine they would come up with ways to a) handle those tantrums and b) strategies to help alexander overcome the confusion and handle the loss while still being able to remember his older brother as he grows up. i don't think anna would leave that to her parents alone, even with her and ari going to india at the end of chot. she'd be in frequent contact (in my opinion, anyway. and i reckon ari would have something to say about it too).
as for gabriel and cecily's marriage...
i base this off a couple i know irl who lost their eldest daughter to an aggressive illness that ailed her for most of her teenage and young adult life before she passed away.
there would be a strain at first and both of them would find it extremely difficult to talk about christopher with each other. they would comfort each other, yes. they will cry with each other, yes. but the way they deal with and experience grief is very different (and i touched on this a little bit in the latest chapter of my fic dear christopher). gabriel would want to talk about it, and he strikes me as the type to process his feelings through discussion. cecily normally would too, but in this situation? she completely shuts down. gabriel would be at a bit of a loss but is respectful, and cecily wants to find in herself the will to talk about it, but her mind and body say otherwise.
that said, they would talk about it with other people. gabriel would run to gideon, and cecily to sophie. given their families grew up together, it's impossible to assume that they all don't have a very close relationship with each other. their children certainly had close relationships with one another. thomas and christopher is self-explanatory. we also see how close anna and thomas are in canon (that one scene in choi where thomas sneaks out and anna catches him in the act lives rent free in my mind fr), and anna with eugenia, which would have extended to barbara too. i also believe they're close with their aunts and uncles (thomas and cecily, for instance).
not to mention the fact that gideon and sophie get it. they lost a child too.
gabriel and cecily would talk about christopher, and gideon and sophie about barbara.
also will would definitely be a huge support. cecily wouldn't need to say much to will for him to understand (even though he'd love for her to open up to him fully), and despite their differences when they were kids, he would look out for gabriel too. gabriel and will's friendship is another kettle of fish that i won't delve into here, but it would certainly play a huge role.
and i don't think the marriage will fall apart. it's definitely a changed marriage, but it wouldn't fall apart. they have alexander and anna, and a huge family support network, as i mentioned above.
losing a child has a ripple effect on a relationship, and it's those first couple of years that are the most horrible. and it's not something that will ever go away. with the irl couple, every year around their daughter's birthday and death anniversary, they leave the city. they travel the country as a means to deal with the crushing loss. i'm not saying gabriel and cecily would do that, but it's certainly something they would feel.
they'll argue. they'll cry together. they'll have sleepless nights. they'll raise alexander together. they'll keep an eye on anna together. they'll reminiscence about their son alone or with their family members. they'll spend time apart while being in the same house. they'll be glued to each other's sides. they'll shut down. they'll be silent. they'll become stronger. they'll never move on exactly, but they'll learn how to handle the loss and live with it, because christopher, though no longer with us, will not be forgotten </3

A Long Rambling thing about Francie being right read at your own caution
(This is more for me than anything, it’ll be interesting for future me to read)
I just read Francie Schwartz book and honestly felt it was quite in line with Heathers court testimony on Paul. I’m so used to people dismissing francie and yet I feel like most of what she wrote lines up with my personal understandings. It really kinda falls into my personal theories on Paul’s destructive tendencies when he’s going through his depressions. That is to say he repeats patterns of destructive-ness when he’s under emotional duress. The question for me is why was he so depressed during the white album. Could it just be because of yoko? It definitely feels like something was going on that was beyond yoko to me. Was it the stress of trying to manage apple on his own? That seems a little more plausible. The man was truly falling apart. I guess I shouldn’t underestimate Jane being a huge part of it considering all the people that said he was coming around just to talk and cry about Jane. It’s funny people kinda just leave it up to India but him and John seemed to be hanging out as much as ever ? They almost still seemed as close as in 67. At least physically. Francie saying John was very like equanimous to all of Paul’s lashing out at him makes me really wonder… and it specifically reminds me the clip from get back where Paul is basically doing exactly what Francie said he was doing which is yelling rude things to them (yoko even says enough!) when he’s drunk (which he very much seems drunk) and this is half a year after Francie. It also makes me think about the supposed phone calls between Paul and Mimi where they discussed yokos presence and Paul assuring Mimi John would get over it and yoko would disappear. It kinda sounds like he was telling himself that too! It’s funny the get back resetting of history being like “look they were having a good time everything wasn’t so bad” but just the summer before things were really bad with Paul and with all of them. I think strangely let it be was a kinda in between period of Paul being extremely negative in the white album switching to John being extremely negative during and after abbey road. I think it also puts in to mind that we really cannot underestimate John saying “they” treated them (y+j) like shit. John apparently didn’t say much at the time but he came to really vilify Paul later for this attitude. I’m so used to seeing johns toxic behavior I forget that we’re kinda not getting to see or discuss Paul’s toxicity. It’s real, it exists, it’s okay, it happened 60 years ago. It’s all gravy baby. You can’t understand how everything unfolded without understanding the weakness in their characters. I definitely do want to understand
Also another thing Francie mentioned that I really thought was funny was her saying Paul wore a baggy suit the first time they met but he switched right back to tighter sexier clothes lol? Wanted to show off his ass??
"What are you worried about? Someone had to get the scissors, and it was Her," he remarked.
She quotes John here and this line is entirely interesting to me cause like what does this mean… someone had to get the scissors. And it was Jane?? But why did someone have to get the scissors. Between Francie and Jane? Between Maggie, Francie, Jane and all of the other Paul gfs ? Between Jane and John?? It’s interesting that like Maggie, John seemed not to mind Francie (probably cause he knew she wasn’t a threat to him and got along with yoko?)
Also Francie revealing that Paul said he hit Jane a few times… hm! She also described his exacting quality pretty much the same way Dot did and not dissimilar to Heather either. It just makes you think you know… what was his deal there. Him even complaining about her accent! It’s funny she also describes him as a bitch! He’s bitchy! Makes me feel better about calling them that so frequently.
Anyway this is all the say Francie’s book more or less lined up with what I already thought, nothing was particularly surprising but it does kinda fill in some puzzle pieces. So yeah, as always reading something on the boys from a female perspective always leaves me feeling enlightened in some way. I feel like I see them more as real people (something male writers frequently find difficult to do).
(Just a quick note in terms of heather I do feel like there’s some exaggeration in her testimony maybe however there’s a number of specific events she describes that sound quite truthful to me and as I said before line up with what other women have said about Paul. Despite all that, just like John I’m not gonna judge these things because I also don’t know these people and that’s their business imo)

On the Mediterraneans and the South Asians
Honestly, it pisses me off so much when people say the Ancient Greeks/Romans were all white because these ignorant people have no idea how much mingling there was of Africans and South Asians in these areas, particularly the Asians. So here's a quick little history lesson talking about the Mediterraneans (Greek, Persian, Assyrians) and South Asia (Aryans, Dravidians, Tamils).
First of all, we all know race is a social construct, right? Okay, second, I'll try to provide modern-day locations along with their past counter-parts to avoid getting confusing because I know not everyone has this shit memorized like me (rather uselessly, it seems). Also of importance, a HUGE amount of South Asia's history has been lost due to colonization of modern-day India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, and Burma (Myanmar). So unfortunately, much of this will rely more extensively on records from the somewhat better preserved Greek and other Mediterraneans rather than the South Asians (though there is still plenty of info).
So let's start with about... 6th century BC, okay? For a hint of what we're dealing with, check out this very rad and surprisingly accurate map of the 8th century. Estimations of the beginning of the Greek empire are about 800 BC. South Asian civilizations are just about in the middle of their Iron Age, which overlaps with the Vedic period (the settling of Aryans into modern day India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan). These are relatively light skinned people, by the way, who had been mingling with East Asians, Europeans, Africans, and Dravidians/Tamils (local people of South Asia) for several thousand centuries. So you probably think they're white...
Thankfully, we have art to show us explicit brown people and people with East Asian features (epicanthal fold) :
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Greeks were perfectly aware of dark brown skinned people in Africa during this time period, btw.
First of all, I don't quite know how well-researched/respected this book by Edward Pococke written in the 1800s is, but this guy gives us a semi-convincing argument that South Asian tribes basically settled in the Mediterranean first a long time ago. But on the other hand, I genuinely believe this whole argument can just as easily be applied to North African tribes, and that's probably more likely. (Also, he says Mediterranean language is descended from Sanskrit, which is a bit inaccurate; both Mediterranean languages and Sanskrit are descended from Proto-Indo-European.) But anyway, if you're looking for more info, read through the book. It's not that long, it's pretty interesting, and a lot of what he says is pretty good proof of Africans founding Mediterranean civilizations.
So, one of the earliest hints we have of Greeks sharing roots with Aryans was the religious cult of Orphism, which was descended from the myth of Orpheus. It's first hints appeared in literature around 600 BC. It shares many elements with the Aryan version of Vedic Hinduism, and it has often been theorized that the journey Orpheus traveled through was a reference to India.
In 537 BC, Cyrus (Persia) makes it to Peshawar (Afghanistan) and adds Gandhar (also in Afghanistan) to his kingdom; Hindus will recognize this as the name of another ancient kingdom. and Darius makes it to Punjab (Pakistan/India).
In 484 BC, Herodotos (Greek) wrote another book about India. In it, he describes South Indians (Dravidians) as "dark as Ethiopians" and North Indians (Aryans) as "similar to Egyptians in appearance." HMMMM.
Around 380-ish or so, we get Megasthenes. This guy claims he knows Hercules and Dionysus (both the god and the ambassador) hung out in Pentapotamia (Punjab) a lot. He came with a whole court, and he got as far south as Sri Lanka (which is pretty much as south as you can possibly go, unless you wanna go down to the Maldives or Mauritius). Now, he was not "discovering" these places; the Greeks and other western cultures were well aware of them, as well as of their religion. He was an ambassador. This implies that these people were in close enough contact to have ambassadors. Here's the book he wrote on Indika.
In about 327 BC, Alexander "the Great" comes knocking around Paurav (modern day Punjab). At the time, that was considered the border of the biggest empire around, seeing as how Alexander's armies slaughtered all the "tribes" he encountered on his way to Paurav. Now he encounters the surrender of King Purrushotam... and on his shield is something resembling a symbol of the Shurasens (Herakles), and some historians have predicted that's because this guy had ancestry related to the Greeks. You know who? Our friend Megasthenes!
In 322 BC, Alex dies and King Chandragupta of the Maurya empire reconquers the northwest (Punjab, etc). At this point, those people are practically indistinguishable from both north Aryans and east Grecians.
In 250, the Greco-Bactrian kingdom develops (present day Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan). This city, acknowledged in Hellenic texts as a Greek city, sat right at the edge of the Hindu-Kush mountains, leaving little room to doubt they were mixing with the Aryans on that side and the Iranians (called Sogdiana back then, where it's presumed some Aryans migrated to South Asia from) on the other side. (Bactria, btw, is considered one of the early Central Asian civilizations, not Greek or South Asian, and their religion was a FASCINATING mix of Zoroastrianism Hinduism, Buddhism, and eventually early Christianity and Islam.) Check out this rad Bactrian art:
Tumblr media
Around 180 BC, the Greco-Bactrian empire pretty officially converts into the Indo-Greek Kingdom with Demetrius's arrival.
Also, check out this map of East Asians mixing with the Greeks and the South Asians during this time:
Tumblr media
"Alexander took these away from the Aryans and established settlements of his own, but Seleucus Nicator gave them to Sandrocottus (Chandragupta), upon terms of intermarriage and of receiving in exchange 500 elephants." - this is talking about what's now modern-day Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. Now, since this is talking about intermarriage in about 64 BC, we can assume that they've been getting it on for a while. So there are plenty of Greeks running around in actual Greece descended from people of Aryan/Dravidian backgrounds.

Claudius Ptolemy (100 - 170) King of Astrologers and his famous work “Tetrábiblos” (Four Books) also known as Apotelematika (~ On the effects). The main key-question of Ptolemy can be summarized in one question: To what extent do changes in the world correspond to the positions of the stars?
Tumblr media
Over ten centuries this work influenced the astrology of the occident. In critical processing Ptolemy is reconditioning Ancient Egyptian, Babylonian and Greek astrology by collecting the astrological knowledge and by "cleansing" the systems of (religious) mythology. It was discussed for centuries, if Ptolemy is the original writer, as it was common to publish under famous pseudonyms. Today we have evidences to locate the time of origin between 139 - 161. Ptolemy is particularly critical against all indefinite claims, where he shows the spririt of the real scientist, by emphasizing, that all astrological knowledge is based on hypthothesis, as it will stay impossible to conisider and know of all the influences, effecting on the galaxy, the planets and the region, the human-being lives in. The Bible of Astrology by the so said Pharao and Priest Nechepso and Petosiris, can be considered as a negative example: Boundless interpreting of fixed stars, predictions used for sensation, motivated by lucrative and therefore false means. Ptolemy also rejected the Doctrine of Decane as 'tangled rhapsody'. Astrology is not an evidence-based science, but similiar to laws of nature, the researcher can built principles by observing and translating the phenomenon into a formula.
Tumblr media
The main works of Ptolemy Megale Syntaxis and Constructio mathematica are known under the Arabic title Almagest. Camerius was the first book binder, who published the first flawless translation of the Tetrabiblos syntaxis in 1533. Melanchthon writes 1300 years after the publicition to Erasmus Ebner about the Tetrábiblos and is praising the scientific significance behind the astrological work of Ptolemy and with regard to Plato, underlining that we can (re-)find God in the most multifarious and mellifluous ways and that God has given the human-beings science and retained it also in the creation, so it can still shine through the manifold circulation of being.
Tumblr media
This wonderful velvet edition is the rare version of Camerius, provided by Melanchthon. It is huge luck in historico-cultural way, that Ptolemy could have saved those testimonies from the fires in Alexendria, as he has, similiar to Euclid, the special merit to have collected and preserved knowledge, that would have got lost. The book is, as the title assumes, divided into four parts. The first book deals with the basics of astrology, describing the system of general predicitions, conditions of the stars and the movements of planetary orbits. In the second book Ptolemy is presenting the geographical astrology and the meteorology, here we learn the different constellations and their influence on earth. Similiar to the calculation of the nativity, it is necessary to set the region of preditional purpose into relation to deduce the astrological devination into forecast. It is exciting how geometry is used to calculate under which planet and stars the region is reigned. The Method of Angular House (in German Eckhäuser, in Greek Kentra) is also used in the system of Cabbala. In all likelihood, those methods came from Egypt, through Alexander the Great and the expansive work and travelling of the Priest of Marduk and Belus named Berossos (~ 280 BC), who is not only the most significant beholder of Babylonian history, but also an astrologist, who gave birth to the Hellenistic Astrology. It is likely, that due to the long period of astrological research in Babylon and India, that the knowledge wandered slowly into the European continent/culture under the mass migration. Small reference to King Sulgi (* 2092 BC), it is written that after "death" and the Ascension [!], he has become the Star of Sulgi: "Shepherd I am, may they praise me in prayer like a star." In astrological history it is generally said, that the Ancient Egyptians are the Masters of Trigones (relativeness between planets and the sign of zodiac, equal distances between right angles to the tropic point = Equinox) and the Chaldean (who where also living in the Mesopotamian region, but seem to have "dissapeared") are considered as the Masters of Angular Houses. This whole calculation could take books of explanation, it will not be possible to establish a holistic examination of this huge theme. But this system of calculation is the basis for white and black magic aswell. The hylegialic points of the Angular house give signs about the descendent spirit, later Paracelsus is defining the punctum ascemdens as the rising point of the ecliptic. Those methods are obligatory for the next book, because in the books three and four the astrology of birth is the main topic. Ptolemy underdraws the two sides of being: There are effects of necessity, which can not be changed (Laws of Nature) and there are effects of convertibility (diseases by unhealthy lifestyle). Ptolemy is comparing the aim behind predicitions in the prohibition of bad events, he takes the Egyptians as an example for connecting astrology with medicine. Actually the system of astrology is prioritising the moment of cenception for a 'valid' prediction of future, as we have the tendency to rather not know the circumstances of our procreation, the interpretation of our fate is scheduled in our natal hour. It is believed that all crafts in heaven have an impact on earth (just think of the moon and its effects on earth, the sun as life-giver) and that the constellation in the galaxy is also forming the seed and therefore the skills and handicaps. All regions are under the influence of different planets, each planet has different characteristics and therefore effects on our earth, ultimately on the single individual. By interpreting the sublunary basic elements and putting them into the context of natural origin in the cosmos, it is possible to set up a thesis for henceforth forecasting.
Tumblr media
Just as a reminder: There is no solid knowledge, errors can not be prohibited. Until this time, parts of astrological prediction are used in weather forecasts, but we all made the empirical experience, that the weather can break rapidly, when the winds, who are also the impulses of reigning planets, are changing. Empirical it is also indisputable, that the region, we are born in, has a massive impact on our personality, on our physical development, on our chances for mobility and education. The relevance of the first moments and years, after our birth, are getting more and more attention due to neuro-physiological findings. As there is much for which our power is limited, there is enough to upheave ourselves, to find new forms of break-throughs, when we are chained, to nurture the hope to carry on and bring sense into our life. And if it is just a little twinkling star far faaar away from our stretched out arm, as we live in this symphony of creation, we should strive to bring all those different wonderful tones into accordance, after every single one was able to find harmony within himself.

Weekly Tag Wednesday Monday!
Thanks for the tag, @mybrainismelted !
Hi everyone! I received this Weekly Tag Wednesday Wednesday, but I guess I waited until this Monday to get it done . What else is new?  😅😅
Let’s start with the standard:
Name: Cyn
Age: older than @notherenewjersey
Location: Northern Hemisphere
And now, a set of totally random ones 😅
What’s one of your go-to karaoke songs?
🤕🤕🤕 Either "Summer Nights," from the grease soundtrack. Or " Bohemian Rhapsody," by Queen.
If you had the power to control one of the four elements, which one would it be and why?
Precipitation. It would never fucking snow or rain, unless I needed a little drizzle for my garden.
Think of one of your defining personality traits - which animal embodies it?
Those little squirrel monkeys that live in India. You know the ones that are in all of those documentaries and you get to see them break into people's houses and be annoying as fuck, but everybody deals with them because they're actually kind of cute. That's totally me.
Are there any fan theories that have stuck with you?
I was never into the show, nor was I ever in the fandom, before some reason the TV show Lost invaded every part of my life for a very long time. It's probably because all of my friends watched it and all they ever did was talk about it. So I literally know so many weird conspiracy theories about it. 😅 And the thing is that I could never be able to tell you any of them off the top of my head, but if you mention some of them, I would be able to recall them that way.
Name a movie you watched or a book you read as a kid that you were totally not supposed to watch/read at that age.
I think I've mentioned this a few times. I watched a lot of movies that were not appropriate for me when I was young, mostly because my mom was a huge horror flick enthusiast. And I was an early reader, so I would read fat novels from the grocery store. The most memorable one being a crime book called. " Bad blood: family murders in Marin county." 😆
Name a food or drink that you totally hated as a kid and now you really like.
Mushrooms, green olives.
How about one you still hate?
Beef liver. Literally, the smell of it, the thought of it even, makes me want to hurl.
What’s your least favourite chore?
 All of them.
Do you have one that you actually enjoy?
🤣😂🤣😂 Get the fuck out of here with this question.
And to close it off, share a lyric or two that really resonate with you.
I've got this stuck in my head right now.
" I don't know what to do with myself
Just don't know what to do with myself planning everything for two
Doing everything with you
And now that we're through
I just don't know what to do"
***
I'm super late on this one, as always. It's become my hallmark. 😆 So not talking to anyone. If you have not done this one and want to play, go right ahead. 😆

Hey I'm here to ask about my mum
She tends to always be sick or in middle of something, always in pain ....one disease or another, something keeps coming up
Can u let me know what's wrong?
Here are my mum's details :
9th January 1966
Time : idk sry
Place : Jakkanpur , Bihar, India
Here are my details: ( if that helps)
Time: 2nd dec 2000
Place: Motihari, Bihar, India
Time: 9:25 am IST
Hi!
Without her birth time, the answer won't be as detailed and it won't be possible to see absolutely everything related to her health, however! Using derivative astrology, there is still something to be found!
In derivative astrology, in her sixth house of health, you can find Jupiter, which makes everything it touches bigger - in this case it can relate to her dealing with more health issues than the average person, especially, since Jupiter is making some harsh aspects.
Jupiter opposing her Mercury in Capricorn, shows that she can deal with some stubborn health issues that take a long time to be resolved.
Jupiter is also squaring Uranus and Pluto in her chart, which also spells, huge health issues that are very unexpected and unpreditable, which is why she seems to constantly have something going on with her health.
In your own chart, you have Saturn in the 4th house, which shows that in general your family members can deal with some pretty stubborn challenges, which can include your mother's health.
In your own chart, your 9th house, shows the health of your family members and you have Mars in this house.
This shows that your family members can often deal with pain and inflamation. It also shows that they are prone to getting injuries and into accidents. So, this can also show why your mother is constantly having to battle one illness or another.
Tell her to start spending time alone to learn/study something to remedy these difficult placements. This will help her health issues to become less and easier to deal with. They won't disappear entirely, but will be better.

A lot of the celebrity news articles I get pushed my way are Indian, which if you know me personally probably makes sense. It's usually the Times of India or Pinkvilla but there are others. They all sort of charm me because the Indian Press is just lovely in how old fashioned it is with it's coverage. It's things like, "Kiara Advani says her fans are great!" or it will be the story of two celebrities who are dating now but it won't say that instead it is like, "So and So and So and So were seen Canoodling at a Film Festival... Is Love in the Air?" This isn't because the Indian Press is painfully naive but because it has the same relationship with it's stars that our press did in the 30's and 40's. It is all fluff and it functions as much a PR department as news and the deal is that way the press gets coverage. Nothing embarrassing, keep that quiet. Anyway, this weekend I go all these headlines about Zendaya and Tom Holland being on a boat and they were all Indian and I was like, "Are they in India? Cause this isn't new that they are dating and this is a weird thing to keep sending me". They were in India. Mumbai to be specific for the opening of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre which is a really cool looking building if you haven't seen it. I get why it's a major event, it's huge, it's a massive arts complex, it seems cool. The cool thing for me is plenty of people were there and I am here to tell you they all looked great. Just great. I am going with Priyanka Chopra today because I think I liked her stuff best but don't be stunned if more people show up later. It was a good event for this sort of thing. Today I want to fuck Priyanka Chopra.

re: india. i am part indian and have muslim family living there (who are native there). there is a horrid anti-muslim agenda there right now and has been for a while. muslim businesses are burnt, muslim girls have their hijabs ripped off, aren't allowed to wear it to school, etc. the sort of propaganda that the ruling political party, the right-wing BJP (who subscribe to the hindutva ideology), feeds to its followers is that muslim indians should be ethnically cleansed from the country. the sort of things that hindutva supporters say on social media about muslims is absolutely vile and on par with what israelis say. they get so excited whenever muslims are oppressed or persecuted anywhere in the world. i wish more people knew about this and i wish arab muslims around the world would show up for south asian muslims the way we show up for them.
Friend, thank you for telling me this. I was actually hoping to read more into it and to have context from Indians in particular so thank you for sharing! Yeah, I imagined there was an anti-muslim agenda because seriously, I see Indians posting in support of Isr*el all the time on social media and as much as you don't want to generalise (especially with a complex and big country like India) it's clear there is something behind it here. I'm very sorry to hear about this, also because I know hindutva ideology is basically inspired by european nazi-fascist nationalism, it now stands with zionism but they all behave like nazi-fascism behaved and the irony of this. It's literally a right-wing party in power threatening the constitution, speaking to huge masses of people...so scary, I didn't know it was this bad. And obviously it explains while India was the only country to abstain voting in South Asia basically....
You are right, Arab countries are not doing enough and Arab Muslims are not speaking up enough. Arab governments took very questionable stances in the past years (and a lot of them allowed Isr*el with funds and deals, we won't forget this...certainly I won't ever forget this with Morocco either) but it's also true Arab muslims are not vocal enough. It's true they tend to overlook on South Asian Muslims frequently and they care more about arab-unity than muslim-unity. In my ideal world Morocco would not be defined as an "arab country" anyway, but only as an african country, since Amazigh people exist too and they are a vast part of its population. I don't know what we can do about this apart from raising awareness, which I will do. Inchallah there is going to be enough cultural resistance there but I won't stay silent now. sending love 💕

Listed: Blue Ocean
Tumblr media
Bay Area three-piece Blue Ocean plays exuberantly discordant yet surprisingly mild-mannered noise pop, not unlike what a TV Personalities record might sound like if it were playing through a box fan that’s tumbling down the stairs. In his review of last year’s self-titled LP, Chris Liberato noted how suddenly the dynamics at play in the band’s songs can change, writing of “Human Now”: “You won’t be able to help but smile when a big bombastic synth chord comes lumbering across the song, from out of nowhere, with the enthusiasm of a sedated puppy — and then decides to stick around for a couple of encores.” Hot off the announcement of their Slumberland debut, Fertile State (out in October), band members Rick Altieri, David Stringi and Neal Donovan pop by to share a few words about some of the records they love.
Dave’s Picks:
Snapper — S/T
youtube
Found years ago, during a visit to Brooklyn, NY. I instantly gravitated to the vibrant and colorful slashes of paint, which abstractly splayed themselves across the front cover. The songs are very colorful as well, painted with electrifying rhythms and arpeggiating synth leads. “This would make a great gift for a couple of friends of mine.” Maybe someday Flying Nun will re-release it.
Dummy — EP2
youtube
I find myself listening again and again to this second installment from Dummy, sonic enthusiasts based on the West Coast. The opening track “Thursday Morning” introduces itself quite charmingly with its creative and concentrated vocal melodies. Followed blissfully by deep layers of noise and feedback within a clever collage process.
Rick’s Picks:
M. Sage — Paradise Crick
youtube
This album was a surprise find in the first half of 2023 for me, I was actually listening to the single “Crick Dynamo” before the album was released and remember my ears really perked up. I know M. Sage himself just did a Listed recently, what a lovely surprise — huge new fan of his work. I love the line walked between sonic lab experimentations and organic leafy strollings by a river; right up my alley.
Bill Evans — Coffee and Cigarettes
youtube
I always come back to Bill Evans when I’m in the mood for calming jazz that still demands your attention and challenges you in many ways. His playing on this record reminds me a lot of Debussy, another go-to when trying to unwind. Evans is one of my all-time favorite piano players.
Lifetones — For A Reason
youtube
Charles Bullen of This Heat went on to make this post-punk/dub hybrid classic with Julius Cornelius Samuel in 1983 — This Heat had just broken up the year before. The rhythmic syncopations and droning cyclical vocal delivery make every song on this record a mesmerizing journey. The lyrics are profound in their simplicity, dealing with human interaction and nature.
Neptune — Gong Lake
youtube
This record will always be special to me. Neptune was one of the first bands I remember seeing with Dave when I moved to Boston in 2008. They were playing in the basement of Gay Gardens, an old DIY spot in Allston. I was instantly blown away by the barrage of rhythmic noise and impressed by the homemade guitars and effects they had fabricated. They’ve been a huge influence on Dave and I for years now.
Emeralds — Does It Look Like I’m Here?
youtube
A Midwest synth classic. When I listened to the song “Candy Shoppe” again recently I was even more moved than ever before, a good sign that this 13-year-old album stands the test of time. This album fluctuates between gritty acidic synth-scapes and ambient movements in the vein of early Eno. I love Imaginary Softwoods too, John Elliot’s solo project post-Emeralds.
Neal’s Picks:
Ananda Kumar — Mangala Vadhyam Vol. 3
youtube
A friend with roots in Tamil Nadu told me about the nadaswaram, a double-reed instrument played at weddings and religious festivals in Southern India. I love how intense and cutting the sound is. This recording features two nadaswarams in semi-improvised conversation with each other. I'm reminded a bit of the groove and excitement of traditional New Orleans jazz. Also, the thavil drumming is insane, reminiscent of Aphex Twin breakbeats.
Jed Wentz — Telemann: 12 Fantasias for Flute
youtube
Telemann's fantasias for solo flute are so cool. Although they were published in the 1730s, there's something that feels very modern about having just the flute to focus on. The player is asked to jump around throughout the range of the instrument, sometimes outlining melodies and basslines simultaneously. It's all the more impressive on the keyless, wooden, baroque flute which has a mellower sound than modern metal ones. I imagine it as portable music that someone could play anywhere.
Sheer Mag — Compilation
youtube
My partner threw this on when we were cleaning out our last apartment. I'm not usually a big fan of riff-driven guitar rock, but this album just got me. The licks are smokin’, the guitar tones are perfection, and I love the mix— just gritty enough.

vent under Keep Reading
i was trying to do my assignments and. i just can't focus. nothing I'm doing is entering my head. I can't focus. i just can't. and i have so much to do. including eating. and drinking water. and I'm just lying on my head doing nothing cus i. simply can't bring myself ro do anything. god i feel like an absolute failure. why is that everyone else can just. do things. how do people. be people. i want to know. i feel so so broken rn like a broken doll i just can't function the way I'm supposed to function.
also that reminded me. everytime I've tried telling my mother about the ADHD symptoms i face she'd told me "oh you've been like this since childhood" and just. dismissed it. just like that. just because I've been like that since childhood. also also also. literally nobody. LITERALLY NOBODY I KNOW IRL RELATES TO ME. even a close friend here. a friend very very very dear to me. when i told faer about how I can't focus no matter how much i try to.
fae replied "well are you trying?"
and that just. broke my heart. like it feels. I'm the only fucking person in this entire uni who's suffering like this. only fucking person who's dealing with undiagnosed ADHD which is literally crippling them from functioning like a normal person. i hate it i hate it i hate it. i want to function normally. im not saying i hate myself but i just wish I wasn't this broken. so fucking broken that I can't even bring myself to study even if i want to. I CAN'T PUT MY MIND TO THINGS I WANT TO PUT MY MIND TO WHAT BULLSHIT IS THAT. WHY AM I LIKE THIS. WHY DO I NOT REMEMBER THE LAST TIME I ATE OR DRANK WATER OR BRUSHED MY TEETH OR TOOK A BATH OR LITERALLY ANYTHING AT ALL. WHY AM I FAILING SO BAD AT LITERALLY EXISTING WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME.
why do i even. try. at this point. even if i go to any psychiatrist they'll probably dismiss me seeing my good grades till grade 12. they'll be like "this person can't have ADHD look at the grades". even though grades are nowhere a criterion for ADHD. i just know it. this is india. people don't even know ADHD exists I don't expect them to have a clear idea of it. i hate it here i hate it here i hate it here. literally nobody irl understands me and the pain I've had to go through all my life why why why why do i even try. i just feel like. giving up. letting this disorder win cus I'M TIRED. I'm so so so so tired of fighting it I don't know how long i can anymore I'M TIRED. i know I'm normally silly here on tumblr but I'm sorry I'm very mentally ill with severe undiagnosed ADHD for whom it'll be a huge struggle to get diagnosed. i just wish for once people understood my pain and struggling and accomodated for me. for once.

Find the word
I was tagged by @elizaellwrites for a writing challenge. Thank you @elizaellwrites. It took me so long to finally write this post, partly because I had little idea about what the challenge actually was. (P.s. I am a newbie to tumblr)
My words are :Worse, Wander, Mindlessly, Join, and Hysteria
I'll try my best here. Do read @elizaellwrites's post on this challenge
Worse
Getting hit by a moving train is worse than having a bad call. What if it happens at the same time, when you are bickering with someone without the knowledge of a train approaching you when you cross the tracks.
(This happens a lot in India where people are lazy to climb platforms, they simply cross railway tracks which is dangerous if done carelessly)
Wander
Meena supposed she could get away with the guilt buried in her heart. Maybe she could pretend that she hadn't taken that pretty pencil. Maybe her friend would believe the tale that the pretty pencil wandered on its own to a faraway land.
Mindlessly
Mr. Frog whistled mindlessly at the trees, the rocks and the fence. What did the world protect? What did it fail to protect? It mindlessly whistled till the little noble voice in it's head silenced into apathy.
Join
Her lips quivered at the sight of her dead husband in the plain old mirror. She looked at the extravagance painted on her face. For a moment, she felt guilty. She wiped away her guilt and joined palms with his outstretched hand, feeling the old warmth in the cold mirror.
Hysteria
That was it, the breakeven point of a completely sane weirdo. The maddest woman in this town had enough, she broke into the apartment and burned the house. The fire killed the fat bills her stingy boss refused to give her. Why? Cause she was a woman and she does not need such a huge amount. Oh Please! She already closed the deal and the nerve of him to alter it. It was not a hysteria but a well planned revenge.

Why Uber & Ola do not care about riders & drivers?
Global market for ride hailing is pegged at anything above USD 85 billion dollar annually. The market is not only huge but also growing at breathtaking pace of around 17% . To put things in perspective at this pace of growth the market is set to double every 4.5 years. Compare that with your bank deposit which will take 15–20 years to double if you are living in developed countries or developing economies like India and China.
The market has been evolving over the decades with few innovations here and few there. However, advent of category defining company Uber has upended the industry in unprecedented manner. The beauty of Uber platform lies in innovative plumbing of technologies developed before it but after early 2000s. Chief among them are smart phones & Google maps . Such has been the success of Uber’s model that it has assumed an envying place in english language i.e. “Uberization” . The entire shared economy as we see today is inspired by Uber.
And many copycats have also emerged in the same market as Uber salivating the prospects built on the size and growth of the industry.
So What’s the problem?
The very solution which distrupted the market is becoming the key problem and it seems that the market is ready for yet another decadal change.
A little background will help before we move on. Uber relied on efficient matching of drivers and riders by signaling power of prices or fares. It has. utilized its prediction engine combined with real time data to change the prices to match supply with demand or vice versa. The engine increases price to attract drivers to pockets of high demand & reduces the price where the demand is muted. The trick has enabled it to provide more business to its drivers and increased utilization of their vehicles. On the other hand it has successfully provided reliable (really?) vehicle availability to the riders.
But the engine has created problems of its own principally those related to ethics & fair dealing.
I have not understood. Please explain!
The model in which Uber works relies on platform effect. Simply put the higher the number of users on its platform higher will be the value of the participants. For example, an additional driver will ensure more choice and increased competition thereby reducing tariffs to riders or open up new routes. Also, a new rider will increase the earning potential for drivers thus attracting ever more drivers. So once the flywheel started moving it will gather momentum oon its own.
The downside of this mechanism is that the model makes the market winner-takes-it-all. So market will only have 1–2 players to have enough scale to provide value to riders ( choice or fare) or to drivers ( higher business) . Now the winner or couple of winners will have control of market. This is evident in today’s market where drivers pay high commissions and riders accept surge pricing for convenience ( not that they want to). The fares do not reflect economic costs but the level of dependency riders have on Uber and likes. The fares are based on “Willingness-to-pay” which is a euphemism for gouging money as much as can be exracted based on the desperation of riders. A few of you may know that fares not only acccount for distance or demand-supply mismatch but also what is the battery level of your phone which may make you desperate to accept fares.
Moreover, the algorithms used by the incubments use what is called Machine Learning ( ML)) . The programs built on this technology are useful in many situations but inherently biased. The ML models are built by feeding lots of data and finding a pattern which can then be utilized for predictive purposes.
However, many of the readers would know that these models perpetuate the bias in data. For example , many studies have discovered that crime prevention models based on ML have shown bias against minorities and backward section of the society . This has led it further supression of these sections .
Similarly , ML models used by ride hailing app are fed on non-representative data of many situations. For example , on a rainy day couple of riders have accepted very high fares. This will be fed back to model which will show yet higher fares to subsequent riders. It may lead to complete breakdown of demand supply matching framework apart from raising ethical questions.
The unencumbered use of technology is not beneficial for even the drivers who may miss out on business due to high fares.
What’s the solution?
This article does not, in any way, deprecate the use of technology. But strongly backs to augment human capabilities with the use of technology . The decision making ought not be left to machines but it must be enhanced by efficient processing of information.
So can we expect some changes?
Definitely, the market is big & growing and perhaps the users will also want to try out the alternatives to the incumbent.
