I have a multitude of things I should have been doing lately: checking my dash here, finishing a quilt I promised my dad months ago, working on a cover letter for a full time job that’s due Thursday. Have I done any of those things? Nope. Instead I listened to the recent fansplaining episode on fanbinding and decided I wanted to poke that. Specifically I wanted to do all of the fiddly typesetting bits and spend time really getting into minute details on something because I don’t ever really get to do that and I like it.
I decided on Pride and Prejudice because 3 copies isn’t enough lol Anywho! After taking a big block of html text from project gutenberg, I think I’ve almost wrangled it into a typeset resembling a real book. It’s very satisfying.

On the idea of Theseus's Ship: in the end, it's still his, isn't it?
It was known as Theseus's, and it will continue to be known as Theseus's.
Even after he has returned to the ground which grew the wood of the hammer used to nail the ship's frame,
Even after generations of new wood have rotted and the sails are rags clinging to threads,
Even after millennia,
it will still be Theseus's Ship.
Goodnight, Phosphophyllite.

id : a digital painting in dark tones with a golden and purple decorated border. steve is kneeling, bare chested, with his back to the viewer. He is wearing pearl shoulder jewellry and a big circle sigil is shining on the middle of his back and connected to magical binds around his torso, neck and wrists. the end of these ties are wrapped in eddie's hand. Eddie is seated on a wooden vanity dressed in black dress pants and a sheer shiny shirt, open halfway. He is also wearing a ruby necklace shining the same colour as the magic and reflecting in his eyes. /end id

The Process Of Elimination, by zoicite/ @enechelon
The Emperor calls for eligible heirs to compete for a chance to marry his treasured progeny, Her Divine Highness, First Born of the First Reborn. Each week one House will be sent home until only one remains and the winning heir shall ascend to stand beside Her Divine Highness, hand in hand, with House replenished and legacy secured.
Harrow does not intend to compete.
or: THE bachelor AU!! This has been a longtime favorite fic of mine and it was such an honor to be able to bind it!! Sending out a massive thank you to the Zoicite for writing and sharing it with the world
Fandom: The Locked Tomb
Pairing: Gideon Nav/Harrowhark Nonagesimus
Title font: Neue Helvetica Bold Extended
Body font: Garamond
Pages: 471
Case: Arrestox Bookcloth White with hand-embossed gold foil
Endpapers: French Marble Pastel Goldenrod
Progress pictures/process under the cut!
For the cover/title I went directly to the Bachelor logo for inspiration, replacing the classic wedding band with, of course, the ring of keys used in the fic!
The cover is heat embossed by hand, in the same way as my previous bind of Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. For that bind I went pretty maximalist, and for THIS one I wanted to aim for a really clean looking, simple but elegant look. I think it turned out pretty good! I ended up going for the white and gold look to match First House Gideon vibes
I also tried rounding and backing here again, which turned out somewhat mixed. I'm still working on my technique for that, but peep the nice yellow headbands to match the endpapers!
Overall, this was SO fun to do, and a great excuse to revisit & spend good time with a fic I love.

the thing I love about sukuna is that he is a walking catastrophe. a calamity. a being of godlike stature and power. peoppe see him and instinctively fear him.
and yet, he is still just a guy.
he has hobbies and interests (food, poetry, murder, etc.), he has people he likes (well, one person I guess) and people he despises.
the way he acts towards yuuji is more like a middle school bully, if a middle school bully had unlimited power over life and death. honestly I think he'd be just as happy seeing yuuji stub his toe as he was laughing at him about junpei.
he's a master shittalker, and sometimes even does it to save face, but he's actually quite polite towards almost everyone. he praises almost all the people he fights (yuuji being the biggest exception). he seems to respect people who have the audacity to stand up to him and at least some strength to back it up (yuuji, once again, excluded). he'll still talk mad shit, though.
this is what makes him such a great villain to me. despite his canonically godlike power, he can't escape the remnants of his humanity. there's no question that he is evil and that it would be impossible to redeem him. and yet, his personality is very human. a horrible one, but human nonetheless.
