playing Pontus in Total War: Rome Remastered has surprisingly been the most enjoyable experience I've had in the game.
the early game is the hardest I've had. after failing in the short campaign twice, my third run found using diplomats to sell map info for every sestertius I could get gave me the funding necessary to power out of the early game with armies that could actually do something. that and securing trade deals and alliances with as many neighbors as I could manage set me up to build a small empire before exterminating city after city on the march to 15 provinces with Thrace and Armenia crushed
enraptured, I jumped straight into the long campaign
same opening strat, raising armies with my map money, sending diplomats far and wide. but a major hiccup in this run, everyone refused an alliance save for Egypt, and they didn't even bother to fight anyone else aside from, best as I can tell, taking one Numidian and one Seleucid town
and all those folks refused to ally with me, instead allying with each other and almost simultaneously all declaring war. at one point I was actively at war with Greece, Seleucia, Macedonia, Armenia, and Thrace. I managed to knock Thrace out only for Dacia and Scythia to jump me shortly thereafter
but one by one I managed to fend off my attackers in some truly desperate defenses as my offensive armies took an eternity to consign them each to oblivion in turn. one of my favorite defenses saw me sally forth with 400 light cavalry, knocking out 4 of 6 Scythian battering rams but losing all my horse in trade. but it was exactly what I needed as then the walls were breeched in only two places and my 4 phalanxes massacred the assaulting forces. even just one more successful ram would have turned that into a defeat
I've also had to do similar but without the cavalry: just a small horde of eastern spearmen rushing from my gates to take out a ram so that my single phalanx can post up at one opening and repel the invaders
overall it's just made every battle, every settlement, and every unit feel immensely more important. I've since pushed through to the mid/late game and it's a little bit more like a more typical game of Rome now, but there are still some intensely close battles because overall my troops still have a lot of weak units. also with the early diplomat rush I now have more diplomats spread more widely than ever before with bribe money to spare. I've "gone to war" with my Egyptian ally by bribing Memphis and Thebes without gaining their ire yet
also have encountered some errors I haven't seen before. once defended against a siege force only for them to turn around and attack again the next turn, without taking a turn to build any equipment in between. the game loaded the battle map and the enemy army just turned and ran, lifting the siege, because they didn't actually have any means to break my walls
also at one point my bank account had nearly $70k in it and I took a look at the graphs and saw something odd. the Scipii were down to 3 provinces, one of which I had under siege--at their height I believe they had 6 or 7 provinces, so still not a lot--and yet the finances graph showed them with nearly $160k in the bank. definitely more than double my own position on the graph. had they just been stockpiling gold since the start of the game? why not spend more of that on war?
just a surprisingly enjoyable campaign that's made me approach the game in some new ways I never would have considered before. doing more with less, especially in the early game, aware that everything matters then

Itty Bitty Sinners chapter 1.2: The Handler and the Snake
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summery: Charlie and Vaggy start working with Niffty, Pentious, and Husk. Alastor is bring sus. And Angel is tired.
TW: ⚠️TW⚠️: Implied heavy sexual assault, regret, talking about trauma, flashback, keeping secrets, talking about loosing loved ones, unrequited love, feeling useless and like nobody cares. :D Yay?
This is an anthem for the homesick For the beaten The lost, the broke, the defeated. A song for the heartsick For the standbys Living life, in the shadow of the goodbye ~ Battle Scars, Paradise fears
“In what universe is The Radio Demon a little?” Vaggie asks as she and Charlie walk throug hthe hotel.
“He has to be messing with us.”
“Don't jump to conclusions, Vaggie.” Charlie says. “We don't know that.”
“Don't we?” Vaggie asks. “I mean, being a little, we kinda have a sixth sense when it comes to identifying other littles. Sir Pentious? I can see it, Angel is probably a little too, I could even see Niffty being one. But, Alastor?”
“He's… okay, he's a little complicated but-”
“Complicated? He's a murderer and a soul stealer.” Vaggie says.
"Yeah, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's not-” Charlie stops once she sees Alastor heading towards the door.
Ooo! Alastor! Hey!” Charlie got his attention.
Alastor stops and turns to them. “Greetings and salutations, Ladies. Can I help you with something?” Alastor asks, wearing his bright cheshire cat smile as he always did.
“Well, we got the results in, and your test was a little, well…” Charlie hesitates.
“Ridiculous.” Vaggie finished for her.
“I was gonna say surprising.” Charlie says.
"Your results made no sense, and when we tried to look over your answers ourselves, your test was blank!" Vaggie explains.
Somehow, Alastor smiles brighter. “Hmm. How fascinating.”
“We know you lied on the test to mess with us, just admit it!" Vaggie demanded.
“I will do no such thing.” Alastor says. “Would I really take such a preposterous test and waste my time to scheme up all the perfect answers to get a little classification, just to get under your skin?” He asks.
“Uh..yeah!” Vaggie answers.
“That is something you would do.” Charlie says at the same time.
“Well, this was fun.” Alastor says.
“Anyway, I should be going. I have errands to run.”
Charlie reaches for Alastor. “Wait, Alastor you haven't-”
“Farewell.” Alastor says before exiting.
“Well?” Vaggie turns to her girlfriend, arms crossed firmly.
“Yeah, he's messing with us.” Charlie finally agrees.
“Let's just get back to the others.” She says.
Vaggie agrees, taking Charlie's hand and heading back to their office.
~~~Niffty, Charlie, and Vaggie.~~~~
“Niffty, your results were a little inconclusive.” Charlie explains. “But in any case it does say you’re fifty percent Handler. So, while we don't have any pet regressors, we do have plenty of pets. And we were wondering if you'd like to get your own.”
“Really?” Niffty gasps. “A pet of my very own!!?”
“Of course!” Charlie smiles. “According to the manuals, Handlers need pets in their life to feel fulfilled.”
“But, if I'm already a pet, can I still have one?” Niffty asks.
Charlie was a little confused by the statement. “You're a pet?” She asks.
“Well, yeah! Alastor has my soul." She says.
“Right, yeah.” Charlie kinda forgot about that.
“Look, just because he has your soul doesn't mean you're his pet.” She says.
“Pretty sure it does.” Niffty says.
“It doesn't.” Vaggie adds.
“It's complicated, but you're your own person with your own feelings. He doesn't get to decide that for you.” Charlie takes Niffty's hands.
“No, He does.” Niffty says.
“We'll work on that later.” Charlie says. “In the meantime, Vaggie will take you to the petstore!” She says enthusiastically.
“What? Why me?” Vaggie asks.
“Because I'm working with Pentious next.” Charlie says. “Please?” She asks, eyes getting wider.
Vaggie sighs. “Okay, fine.”
“Thank you!” Charlie hugs Vaggy, then kisses her.
Niffty picks up Vaggie. “Okay, let's go!!” She shouts.
“Put me down.” Vaggie tells her as she's carried out of the room.
~~~Later, Sir Pentious and Charlie.~~~
“Pentious, thank you for meeting with me.” Charlie says happily.
She asked Sir Pentious to meet her in her office to talk once Vaggy and Niffty left.
“I just want to say first that I don't know what Angel told you. But, HE sstarted it!” He defends.
“Uh. This isn't about Angel, this is about the results of your test.” Charlie explains.
"Oh, good. So, what did it say?” He asks.
“You are fifty percent neutral and fifty percent little. So-”
“That can't be right!” Pentious insists. “I am a super villain! Not some child-thing!”
“Well, anyone can be a little. Good people, morally complicated people ...Even disturbed people… maybe even especially.” She mumbles that last part, thinking about Alastor and wondering if he might actually be a little.
“Regression is just your mind protecting you. Allowing you to feel safe and comforted when it was easy, or attempting to heal that child inside you.” She explains further.
“So, I can be an evil genius while also being a neutral little?” He asks.
“Of course you can!” Charlie says.
“Ah. Good. I ss-suppose.” He says. “I still don't understand why it matters. Why is it important to know?” He asks.
“Well, I was wondering how you would feel about regressing on purpose.” She says.“On purpose?” Sir Pentious asks. “You're pulling my tail- why in hell would I do that?”
“Yes, to help heal that inner child and make you feel safe.” She explains. “It may help you with rehabilitation, going back before things got so bad and changing your upbringing.”
Sir Pentious crosses his arms. “I don't even know how I could do that.”
“I can help you…if you want.” Charlie says.
“I don't know.” He says. “It ss-sounds sort of…humiliating.”
“If you're uncomfortable, I totally understand and I'd never pressure you to do something so vulnerable. I'm a little too, I wasn't comfortable regressing around anyone before Vaggie.” She says. “But I'm here for you. If you'd like to give it a try.”
Pentious shifts slightly. “If I agreed to let you…help me. Would you tell the others about it?” He asks. “Would they need to know?”
Charlie shakes her head. “Nothing regarding the tests leave this room.” She promised. “In fact,” she takes Pentious's hands. “Nothing we talk about will leave this room. We would never expose anyone like that. You're safe here.” She promises.
Sir Pentious nods. “That's…good. I believe you.”
Charlie smiles. “If you want, you can take some time to think about it. Or, if the answer is no, you don't have to be afraid to tell me that. This is a very sensitive and intimate thing, I would never pressure you or make you feel bad about it. And, if you change your mind, you can.” She says.
“I…do trust you.” He says, letting go of her hands to hold himself. “But, I am nervous.” He says. “What if it turns out that-” He takes a breather.
Charlie tilts her head. “What is it?”
“What if you find that my child isn't…worthy of any kindness?” He asks.
“Did someone tell you he wasn't?” Charlie asks.
He couldn't answer that, Sir Pentious just looked away sadly…
Charlie got her answer.
“According to the results. You regress from age four to age six.” She says. “Did something happen to you around that time frame?”
“You mean while I was living?” He asks.
Charlie nods. “Yeah, a littles age sometimes has a specific meaning. I was just curious.”
His eyes start to water. “My…my parents died around that time.”
“Oh.” Charlie frowns.
“Up until I was eleven I was living in an orphanage, after that I became an apprentice to…someone.” He says, sounding confused. “Nicholas…something.”
“Is it hard to remember the details?” Charlie asks.
“Ss-sometimes.” He admits. “It was so long ago. He taught me how to weld and build. Eventually I wanted to prove that I was worthy of respect…it never worked.” He admits. “Not even here, but I never gave up!”
Charlie takes his hand again. “I'm so sorry that happened to you.” She says. “You deserved better than that. You deserve love and respect. You're worthy of kindness.”
Sir Pentious wiped away a tear. “I've never told anyone about that…no one has ever asked.”
“I'm so proud of you, Pentious.” She says. “Thank you for trusting me.”
He nods. “Thank you for giving me a reason to.”
~~~Vaggie and Charlie:~~~
Vaggie walked back into the hotel with Niffty.“Oh, Vaggie! How did it go?” Charlie asks.
“We were there for ten hours and she didn't even pick one out.” Vaggie grumbles.
“The cages were dirty, so I helped clean them up!” Niffty says proudly.
“That's…great!” Charlie says. “How about this… you can take care of Razzle and Dazzle for a while until we find you a pet of your own?”
“Ooo! YESYESYESYESYES!“
"Be strong.” She whispers to her beloved pets. “I'll check on you later.”
Vaggie smiles at Charlie. “How did it go with everyone else?”
“Great! Sir Pentious made a breakthrough!”
“That’s great!” Vaggie says.
“Yeah! Husk wasn't really interested.” Charlie says.
“Yeah, that makes sense.” Vaggie says.
They walk over to the bar as they continue to talk.
“Also, Angel still hasn't returned, I'm starting to worry about him. Have you heard from him, Husk?” Charlie asks, turning to their bartender.
“Why the fuck would I hear from him?” Husk asks.
“Because he likes you.” Charlie says.
Husk's ears drop in embarrassment. “No, he doesn’t.” He mumbles.
“Okay..” Charlie tilts her head. “But, have you-”
“I haven't heard from him!” Husk shouts. “Let me work!”
“Okay, I was just asking.” Charlie says.
Vaggie takes Charlie's hand. “Come on, babe. I think you earned a break. I'm sure Angel will be back tomorrow.”
“Yeah, I guess you're right.” Charlie says.
~~~Husk:~~~
Husk wipes down the counters as both Charlie and Vaggy walk away.
Once they're gone, he checks his phone again to see if Angel texted him back…
He didn't.But he saw the text…
Of course he didn't reply…Why would he?
Husk sighs.
He probably had better things to do…
He promised himself he would stop caring about people, and this was why!
Damn it!
He pushed back the thoughts of worry that crossed him…
Angel better be okay.
~~~Angel:~~~
It was a horrible fucking night…
“Angel.”
His head hurt…everything hurt…
“Angel, baby.” The voice purred, trying to pull him back into his afterlife.
He doesn't want to get up, doesn't want to open his eyes…
‘Anthony, are you okay?’ A familiar voice asks.
‘I don't know…’ He answers.
‘Got banged up pretty bad this time, huh?’ His sister asked him.
‘Yeah… I guess. But, I'm fine.’ He reassures her. ‘If Johnny can take it, I can too.’
‘He's not as hard on Johnny.’ Molly says, touching his face to look over him.
Angel takes Molly's hands. ‘Hey, I promise I'm okay.’ He says. ‘Don't worry so much about me.’
‘I am worried, Tony. You take too much, and your ‘coping’ is worse than that. You have to quit before-’
Anthony stands up. ‘I told you I'm fine!’
‘Tony-’
'I don't need you to fix me. Okay? I'm fine.’ He says.‘Anthony…’He walks away.
‘Anthony…’
‘…Anth…ony…’
‘tony…an-’
“ANGEL!” The voice gets demonically loud.
Angel's eyes open and he sees Val in front of him…Molly's gone…
No, Molly was never here.
“Angel, you look tired, baby.” Valentino says. “Are you tired?”
He was. He was so tired…He nods.
Valentino tuts. “Well, that just won't do, will it? I need you bright and early tomorrow. You have lots of work to do. Don't you?”
Angel pants heavily. “Yes, Valentino.”
“I suppose you earned a night's rest.” The moth says. “Of course it's a long walk back to that wretched hotel. Why don't you stay here with me tonight, pet?” He purrs in his ear, lifting him from the ground. “I'll make it worth your while.”
Angel nods, not having the energy to do anything else.
As he laid in the soft bed…
The month's arms trapping him…
He could practically feel the chains around his wrists and neck…
He doesn't really remember much of what happened earlier…what made him so tired.
He was just so sore and powerless.
And the worst part is…he doesn't care. Nobody cares.
Even those who pretend to care couldn't possibly.
Who could possibly care about him?He was nothing.
Only Vals stupid toy to mess with whenever he wanted.
What would they think of him if they knew where he ended up?
TTRPG Design Lessons from Wildermyth
I've recently been spending a good deal of time thinking about solo RPGs and playing Rangers of Shadow Deep, a solo miniature game. My brain has been buzzing with ideas for solo game design, but I wanted to extend my research into video games, and so I found myself playing Wildermyth. This game has been on my radar for years, but I finally took the time to sit down with it. I enjoyed the game's first campaign, and I came away with some lessons for solo TTRPG design.
Procedural Stories
As your party of heroes wanders the world of Wildermyth, the player is treated to vignettes of the characters' encounters with their environment. These little stories build much of the player's connection to their band of heroes, especially the ones who join later and appear less often in the main plot.
Coming from the OSR world, a natural comparison arises to random encounters, especially during overland exploration. But whereas OSR encounters can follow any structure (and it is not uncommon for them to merely provide a moment of flavor), the Wildermyth vignettes always result in a meaningful change to the game state (as far as I can tell). A character may gain a new item, or change in some unexpected way, and the player will have a choice to make. Because a vignette always results in some sort of change, the game has a continuous feel of forward momentum.
In solo games, I struggle with developing side characters (or characterization at all, if the game is primarily skirmish-based). Looking at Wildermyth's approach, I can see the potential for a spark table to take one or two characters and create a little side-adventure for them, giving them a little color and differentiating them from the others.
Overworld Map
Wildermyth's map is broken down into regions, and each type of region contributes a different gameplay option. Some areas may have ruins you can reclaim, giving you increased resources or "Legacy Points" (a type of special currency), that you can use to grow and enhance your party. Some areas might allow you to build a bridge across a river, or tunnel through a mountain pass, into an adjacent territory. Villages provide recruitment opportunities, and new areas need to be scouted.
Crucially, every action requires time to complete, and the world is always moving on. Timers count down to the next bad event, armies march across the map and destroy settlements, and the deck of potential enemies is always growing stronger. Even when you acquire enough party members to split them up over multiple locations, it always feels like there is never enough time to get to everything you want to.
This system is simple, but it adds rich, opportunities for gameplay. I would love to experiment with this kind of campaign layer in an otherwise more traditional skirmish game. By adding simple concrete benefits to the control of a region, a huge amount of gameplay naturally emerges, even before diving deep into other sorts of quest hooks that will develop.
Enemy Behavior
When it comes to the tactical battles, the enemy AI seems to be very simplistic (as it is in most games of this type, and video games in general). But this isn't a knock against the battles, because the game's designers clearly understand that you can compensate for AI with varied enemies and scenario design.
I could very much picture running these enemies manually, each one operating by a different tactic that is simple enough to execute manually, while also appearing in enough unique combinations and situations to the player on their toes. One enemy might always charge to the farthest character it can reach, while another might draw characters toward it. These are just a few examples from Wildermyth, but they demonstrate how a few simple enemies can drastically change the tactical situation.
Interfusion
The mage class in Wildermyth has "Interfusion" as its primary ability. This lets the character manipulate the scatter terrain in the environment, with different types of terrain offering different tactical benefits.
I haven't seen this kind of approach to magic before, and I think it has good potential on the tabletop.
Putting it all together
After playing Wildermyth, I have a clearer picture of the game that is brewing in my mind: a cross between a skirmish game and an RPG (hardly a new idea), focused on a war band securing an area, and reacting to dynamic threats with varied enemies and approaches to AI. It's the smallest of seeds, but I have a vision for what it can grow into.
If you could write an MHA rewrite, what arcs would you redo and how would you develop certain characters like Katsuki and Izuku?
I've discussed some of this elsewhere but I don't feel like tracking it down again.
For the plot rewrite, I'd leave everything mostly the same up until Kamino. I'd introduce Stain earlier, via a news broadcast or Izuku's fanboy hobby having him see articles about him. I'd also plant seeds about the HPSC sooner, like having Stain explicitly sentenced to Tartarus without trial. I'd also find a way to namedrop Lady Nagant sooner as someone in Tartarus who used to be a Pro Hero. I'd also have Detnerat appear a few times, in advertisements or at the shopping mall, etc. Maybe Hatsume can mention them and call them hacks or something.
As for the more substantial changes, we start at Kamino Ward, where All For One would launch some kind of desperation move against All Might that results in his own death, or otherwise be similarly fatally hoist by his own petard.
Then I'd start getting a bit crazy.
With All For One dead, there's suddenly a massive criminal power vacuum. Overhaul's arc can stay mostly the same, but other criminals and groups should be plotting and acting as well--such as the Meta Liberation Army, who we would be indirectly introduced to early as a shadowy criminal conspiracy with serious money and ties.
There would be no Quirk transfer; Shigaraki would take over the League, find his own motivation and go from a screaming manchild to a Well-Intentioned Extremist shifting his focus away from All Might and UA to Hero Society as a whole, targeting the HPSC or Top Heroes, or other similar symbols of society.
The final battle between Midoriya and Shigaraki would happen during a showdown between multiple Villain factions vying for the power and influence left behind by AFO and the Heroes attempts to stop them. This would end the first year.
With AFO dead and the League defeated, the Second Year starts out much calmer, we get some more worldbuilding, the Work Studies are back, everyone's happily talking about what they've learned--and we smash cut to Re-Destro murdering a Pro Hero. Ideally one we've been introduced to before but not a major character. Someone like Native or Manual, that we've only really seen in passing.
The audience is finally introduced properly to the Meta Liberation Army, who up until now have been supply Support Gear to the previous Villain Groups but staying out of the fighting. With pretty much all of their opposition gone, they move to seize the criminal underground and massive political clout in the public. Trumpet campaigns for the Diet. MHA becomes a conspiracy thriller as the MLA's enemies are targeted for assassination and multiple 'unconnected' groups move with their gear and backing.
This arc has a major theme about Quirklessness and Quirkless discrimination, and the effects its had on Midoriya and Bakugou.
Eventually, the Heroes are able to track the conspiracy back to the MLA--thanks to Hawks spying for the HPSC--and raid Deika City for the final battle, and Re-Destro gets wrecked by a joint effort of Heroes he dismissed as weaklings with pathetic Quirks or something. End Year Two.
Year Three, their final year at UA, and the HPSC is sweating bullets, and all the planted seeds about their shady shit pays off in full. The HPSC goes full authoritarian, cracking down on personal freedoms in the name of their definition of Safety. Shit goes to hell in a handbasket. Hawks is suddenly a major antagonist. 1-A (now 3-A) is forced to go on the run to avoid arrest.
This arc focuses a lot on the nature of Justice and is far more blatant about its societal commentary.
In the end, Midoriya becomes the Greatest Hero by defeating Hawks and apprehending the HPSC President for her various crimes against humanity.
Smash cut to seven years later for the epilogue showing some about the new society and how it's better, while seeing where all the characters ended up. Namely, they're all getting together to throw a big party to celebrate that Eri (now 15) has been accepted into UA.
As for the character arcs, there's only a few things I'd tweak. I'd have Bakugou acknowledge his similarities to Endeavor at his worst and his not-exactly Heroic tendencies about murdering Midoriya, and rework his apology to take more responsibility and not do it in front of a crowd. Bakugou would also lose in the Ground Beta fight or whatever rematch replaces it.
Midoriya's fine, though I'd add more about how his past has fucked him up and makes him assume things about people based on those experiences, such as 'teachers always hate me' and 'no one could possibly like me.'
Earth 101 : A Manual for the Visiting Cybertronian
Chapter Four: Proper Alt Mode Selection
When it comes to our operations on Earth, we are all well aware that we must operate under a very strict understanding and motto.
‘Robots in Disguise’.
This is a motto which we have operated under since the early 1980s of our arrival, and even longer in accordance to the Maximals and yes, Predacons, who also once took refuge on Earth in eons past.
Of course that said, the choosing of an Alt Mode must always be done with the awareness of where your primary station is, that is, where you are posted for missions and the surrounding atmosphere.
For example, our beloved Prime, Optimus himself, chose a mode specific to his size that would blend in rather appropriately within human society.
His choice of being a semi-truck who are known for traversing miles and miles of roads on Earth, was well as their coloring ranging from muted to brilliant colors, and size range as well as various attachments. This has led to him being expertly camouflaged out in the open during various missions.
When choosing your alt mode thus, keep in mind where and what your talents and work will be aligned to.
Further examples can be found in some of our soldiers and medics, and even more so, with the previously mentioned Sigma-17 team who are all equipped with various rescue measures due to their alt modes, which for their further line of work, is a most appropriate choice.
Other examples would be found within our Maximal allies, who's techno-organic forms are an evolutionary marvel when it comes to our adaptive capabilities. This has been beneficial to their survival in particular moments, as it has made them able to more easily hide amongst the organic environments of their home planets or explorations.
Editor’s Note:As someone with an alt mode which pays homage to the Earth creature known as the ‘Barn Owl’, I am perhaps a tad biased. But that said, it has made flying through the archives near endless halls and floors quite a fun game of sorts, and a bit of an obstacle course too, when particular shelves move.
When it comes to ground bound frames, it is beneficial to take a form that you feel most comfortable in, and that you have the mass to change into when transforming.
Keep in mind that different vehicles also can alter our biology, meaning additional functions.
For example, many a bot who took a construction related form, often found themselves with a much sturdier frame, able to tank a few more hits, as well as aid in the building of bases, and clearing of damage post battle.
War frames crowd rather easily to well known military vehicles, ranging from regular transports, to tanks, jets and more.
Scouts can heavily benefit from alt modes derived from motorcycles, race cars and other high speed vehicle modes, meaning they can faster go through various spaces.
However, those who choose forms such as motorcycles will be advised to deploy a holoform in order to maintain the image of a vehicle that is driven by a human, as it can be quite unnerving to humans to see an unmanned vehicle moving.
Editor’s Note: It appears that self driving vehicles are slowly becoming more common! More information to be added as the subject is researched further for possible application to operations on Earth.
It is quite notable that you also choose a proper color scheme, as though we are all forged with certain colors, we may change them with time, and after further research, it is to be noted that human officers of police forces take specific note of particular vehicle colors.
Cars in vibrant colors and paint jobs, motorcycles and luxury cars often get pulled over more frequently are pulled over as a result, meaning these alt modes are to be advised to have an active holoform and proper documentation for instances like this if possible.
Further information of proper vehicle documentation will be covered in a future chapter pertaining to the human Department of Motor Vehicles, known more commonly as the DMV.
Some of us, particularly scouts, spies, intelligence agents also all take on the most casual forms in comparison to many of us, blending in so perfectly well, one would never even tell they’re something else entirely unless looking closer.
In comparison, particular mechs and femmes who will not be named, do tend to choose rather luxurious and expensive alt modes which can result in adverse reactions in humans, depending the environment they are found in.
Be wary of packs of adolescents humans if you have picked an alt mode usually associated with the wealthy population on Earth. They very well could destroy your finish or otherwise ruin your paint job.
Please ensure to lock your doors while in vehicle mode, there are humans who partake in 'car jacking', 'hot wiring' and other forms of harm that may attempt to, in lack of better terms, kidnap you in vehicle form, known on earth as 'grand theft automobile '.
Choosing your Alt mode ,above all else, is something that you must do so with the mindset that it will be something you feel most comfortable in.
An alt mode is a representation of yourself, something that resonates with a part of you and even a way to express yourself.
By this logic, we must seek a form that feels right for us, above all else.
For transformation and change is our nature, and how we express ourselves above all else.
"Goodnight, Masters! Rest well!"
As you said goodnight to KUKULKAN, you drifted into unconsciousness.
Tumblr media
Darkness. Nothingness.
Quiet... before the sound of footsteps.
Distant, yet near.
Not a dream, but a memory. Faded, but clearer.
Followed by a smell.
...The smell of blood permeated the air.
Corpses, slowly decaying away into data lay strewn across the streets, as bloodstained footsteps wandered forward. The source of the carnage came from one Servant.
Tumblr media
An ASSASSIN, his blade drenched red.
He stepped in front of a glowing form.
Tumblr media
The LAIR SERVANT.
The gaze of the LAIR SERVANT was intense. His voice tried to keep calm, but wavered ever so slightly.
LAIR SERVANT: "So, that's why you ended all of those lives? To draw me out?"
The ASSASSIN chuckled, the red glow from his eyes piercing the LAIR SERVANT.
Tumblr media
ASSASSIN: "…'Lives'? These are a bunch of ones and zeroes that you're playin' dolls with. Killin' them was nothin' like killin' a person- twice as boring and nowhere near as hard. C'mon, you brought them back before-- do it again. I'll do it as many times as it takes, before you burn out your mana on that punk-ass Noble Phantasm of yours."
You could feel the hatred burn from the LAIR SERVANT as he raised a hand, a divine light shimmering from it.
His anger had reached its peak, and now the wrath of a Divine Spirit was imminent.
Tumblr media
LAIR SERVANT: "This paradise… this Solar Cell… you Interlopers have come to selfishly destroy it. Destroy this paradise where nobody has to die! A place where I can forever develop the heights of my medicine, and create a true elixir of immortality!"
The LAIR SERVANT continued to burn, a divine flame sourced from a cursed bloodline beginning to leak out from his body. This was desperation. He had wasted his energy throwing wave after wave of Shadow Servants, and then reluctantly the undead corpses of the villagers that had been killed in a ploy to force the LAIR SERVANT's hand. It was an intense brutal strategy that resulted in plenty of wanton 'death', however- it was effective. And now the LAIR SERVANT, either too weak or too sentimental to conjure up the decaying data around them into more undead, was on his last legs.
However, it would be hard to tell with just a look.
ASSASSIN: "What a shame. I figured you'd have noticed by now. Thanks to my Masters, the more blood you throw at me, the more revitalized I become. Sorry."
The ASSASSIN took a step forward, fully unsheathing his blade. The mana around him distorted, burning with an otherworldly intensity. A faint form shimmer behind him, the intensity of two, burning Spirit Origins intertwining and fighting for the same cause, allowing his shine to match up against the divine light of the LAIR SERVANT.
This whole time, while the LAIR SERVANT had been trying to wear down ASSASSIN, the opposite had happened. ASSASSIN was growing stronger and healthier, staying in peak physical shape after each kill. …You're recalling something about ASSASSIN's condition…!
[ This is T-SUMMONING ] [ T-Summoning is a trait inherent to your Master status, due to the protocol you went through to reach the Solar Cell. Fusing two Spirit Origins together to create a more powerful Servant. The resulting Servant possesses the highest statistics of both fused Servants, however this power comes at an intense mana cost. This can either be ended once the Servant triggers their Noble Phantasm, runs out of mana to supply the boost, or can be stopped manually. However, either a contract needs to be made with both Servants, or a Servant's Spirit Core is captured before it's destroyed. Additionally, the maximum HP and MP is raised by 2! ] [ ASSASSIN is currently equipped with the 'PHANTOM COUNTESS' Spirit Core! ]
This was it.
The LAIR SERVANT was in your way, but once he was killed, that would be one more key- and one more path opened to the Solar Cell Core.
ASSASSIN: "Alright, Masters. Time to end this!"
( '5-option polls' function similarly to 4-option polls, with the fifth option usually involving triggering or cancelling a specific skill. If the 5th option doesn't win out, the voting percentage for that option will be evenly dispersed among the first 4, and then the success results will be calculated like if the poll had only 4 options. )
SERVANT: SLAYING ASSASSIN
T-SUMMONED: [PHANTOM COUNTESS]
Strength: C Endurance: D Agility: A (Raised from B) Mana: C (Raised from E) Luck: D (Raised from E) NP: B (Raised from C)
HP: 7/5
MP: 9/7
Maximum Damage (Strength): 7 (Increased due to the amount of blood present!) Maximum Damage (Mana): 7 (Increased due to the amount of blood present!)
Skills:
Man-Slayer (A) - A sword skill specialized in cutting down humans.
Mind's Eye (Fake) (C) - The skill to avoid danger through pure intuition.
Swordplay as Swift and Powerful as a Falcon (A) - The renowned, unmatched, unique swordsman style of ASSASSIN.
Torture Technique (A) - The deep understanding and precise execution regarding methods of torture, when using torture tools, the efficacy is increased.
Bloodsucking (C) - The act of absorbing another's blood to restore one's own vitality.
Bath of Fresh Blood (A) - This Servant becomes even more effective when drenched in blood.
Click Dr Abe's Laboratory link for info.
the sequel no one asked for, and still rushed art.
was going to animate something but me lazy asf i prob forgor to animate at this point.
this is just the concepts how the game would look like, possibility. don't read this shit if too much mk?
In game
platforming gamemode would exactly how og game looks. Other gamemodes would be in different view angle, all them be the same angle btw.
Its Pizza Time! is called Acid Overflow!! here. Its similar to pizza time, expect when the time runs out, acid has been released, then it starts seeping through the level. If the acid touches you, its a instant game
over. Laps works the same, the acid just restarts but still seeps at the same pace.
how this works with other gamemodes? the same way. the only difference, the level completely changes and not just the route itself.
Secret rooms are in all gamemodes.
Gameovers are in result of starting the whole level ever again.
Gamemover screen have a sound in the background, which is laughing.
Gamemode Explanations
Platforming - plays the same as ptg
Mystery - in a nutshell, solve a mystery throughout the level, finding item, talking to npc, unlocking shit to solves it. you earns points the more closer you solve the mystery. Once the mystery is revealed, the player have to manually activate acid overflow. there is still collectables, material points and materalings to collect.
Riddles/Questions&Answers - Get the correct answer or else. This gamemode just do riddles and questions what else? Every time answer is incorrect, you have play whatever this gamemode offers you to do. If you complete the game, you go to the next question. If you fail, its a gameover instead, If you answer correctly, you proceed to the next question. Once you answered everything correctly, you able to finish the level, beginning the acid overflow. There's only one specific level where you just get a straight up gameover if you answer incorrectly (reason cause its next to a boss level, and this is technically the boss before the battle level.) Each section and next level, the questions get progressively harder. Some questions are timed, which some of them just gets faster.
Escape Room - the point is just escape the level. collects items, unlock shit etc etc to get yo ass out of there. Escape rooms always have a timer to escape. of course if you don't escape on time, game over. Escape rooms can also have chase, as a entity is chasing you or looking for you the level. If you get captured, game over. Once you escape, acid overflow automatically triggers.
In HubWorld
Hubworld will always be in one angle. The hubworld is just where to go to sections and enter levels. The same world were you change your costumes, etc etc. There is were most of the story, cutscene, and others sets place. There's are doors where you cannot enter unless you either unlock it somehow or open to a specific route. There are secret rooms in the hubworld as well. Well really there's a ton things to explore in hubworld then just going to levels.
Shops exist as well. They usually just sell costumes. However, some sell useful stuff, or items for endings/choices related. Some items itself can be collected in hubworld, which all them is story related. You also can talk to the npcs here.
The hubworld changes depending what you did in the game or depending on the route you go. The more recruits you get, the recruits will show up in hubworld.
The tablet is just a device that just checks your stats and achievements. But it also has data, which reveals information in game. There's also tapes and reports, which are collectables in hubworld.
Recruits usually just goes for specific endings. Awhile majority are useless, only 2 is helpful. In order to recruit them, see their quests or other shit idk. Only 2 bosses can be recruited, but its takes longer.
there is music for this au but its like 2 years ago and it sounds like ass trust me you don't want to hear any of it.
I might forgot some shit again...
A New Home Ch. 3
Splatoon Manga Various x Skilled! Isekai'd Reader
Wc: 1k
Back to the start! Previous Next
Tumblr media
You slowly open your eyes and wipe the drool off your face. You wince when you look around, realizing how bright it is. You must have crashed pretty hard last night. You stretch your arms, feeling a nice stretch in your back. But the bliss doesn’t last long when the pain comes right back. Sleeping on a bench isn’t very comfortable.
Hey, wait, you fell asleep on a bench? Your eyes finally adjust to the scenery and yup, you’re still in Inkopolis Plaza. Well, it seems that you still have everything in your bag and your weapon is untouched, so it seems like a good time to go perform some very unfair gameplay.
The results of these games are no different than your past ones, with you only learning more about how people battle. It’s about noon when you decide to take a break and get some inkling-friendly water offered for players at Inkopolis Tower. Thank cod for that.
You wonder if the next events from the Splatoon manga take place the day after Goggles loses that battle with the team Rider explicitly told him not to lose, or a couple of days after. You don’t have much time to think before situating yourself in a more discrete spot after noticing the one and only idiotic blue team. You pretend to play on your phone and you attempt to discern what part of the manga you’re at so far. Rider comes into frame and that’s when Goggles’ screaming starts.
‘Oh, Rider just found out that team Blue lost the second round. Ouch. Guess that means Army’s up next then, I should go get good seats.' You make your way over to Inkopolis Tower. 'What stage was he on again? Oh yeah, Flounder Heights.’
You weren’t the first to make it to Army’s match, noticing some die-hard fans already on the sidelines. You spotted somebody wearing a special forces beret.
‘Huh, guess even the weakest of the S4 is quite strong. Of course they all have a bunch of fans. Much deserved, being some of the strongest there is.’
You take your seat and put your backpack between your legs and your weapon on the seat beside you while taking out your off-brand manual. You’ve even named it that, right there on the front with big bold letters, even though it’s basically just a sketchbook.
Just a couple more minutes before the battle begins and Rider walks into the stands.
‘Alright, not a big deal, I’m just some rando. He doesn’t know me. Nope.’
He sits beside you, opposite side from your weapon. Suppose it was sort of unfortunate that the best seat left was the one right beside you because the other good ones were all taken.
‘Should I move? Nah, that would be kinda weird. He might think he’s smelly or something. Should I say hi? Only if he says something first.’
You try your best to calm yourself down because once again, you’re in the Splatoon manga and that’s pretty damn cool. With your pencil in hand, the Squid Sisters announce the players and the stage. You quickly notice that Team Orange is much better as well as more efficient when it comes to inking. They swiftly make their way to the center while skillfully inking every pathway there.
‘The manga doesn’t quite capture how well they move as a singular unit. Not to mention how well they work together, knowing exactly which battle plan to use for each scenario without saying a word to each other.’
‘Pure skill alone might not be able to take care of even the weakest of the S4. If they can manage to have the advantage over every scenario, they’re virtually unstoppable unless you can manage to outrange them or something. Goggles completely had the right idea when it came to bringing in a completely unrelated variable. How could I possibly beat Army if paired against him?’
Not that you actually planned on battling him at any point in time, but it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to come across one of those die-hard Army fans who battle just like him. Though, it would probably be much easier to just out-skill them. But it’s better to be at least semi-prepared for any scenario.
‘Man, I’m kinda starting to act like Army now, huh? How ironic.’
You continue to write information down on Army and his team, flipping to the next page because one wasn’t enough.
‘It’s much easier to analyze your opponent’s playstyle and moves rather than adapt your own to be unpredictable. It’s just about impossible to be completely unpredictable. Everybody has little things that they absentmindedly do during battle. Whether it be the way they may like to jump and flick their charger before taking a shot, or maybe they prefer dodge-rolling to their right side instead of their left.’
‘Maybe the best way to go about battling him is to out-skill him? If my team and I can manage to make solid plays before Army can discern them and decide on the best way to fight back, then we should be fine, right?’
Though, you are disappointed with the way the Splatoon manga introduced the S4’s skill. They really are much stronger up close. You can tell how much time and effort really went into Team Orange’s training. You also found it interesting how even before Goggles had attacked Army with his Inkzooka, He sensed Goggles’ presence behind him. He knew he was about to get flanked from behind. That’s something you can only get from years of experience. Either from getting pinpoint accuracy by hearing the sound of footsteps or clothes rustling, or just having some sort of sixth sense.
'Maybe I could train to be quieter? Yeah, that sounds good.'
You didn’t want to wait to leave the stands, so you walked out of inkopolis tower, phone in hand before the battle ended. The app you downloaded back in the real world seems to work here too. It shows your rank, the stages, and most of your stats. The level isn’t included, but that’s alright.
random lines from a wip
”…He was slain by a squad of Ghost-Eaters at the Battle of Tcho Vulpanomi. We threw his corpse into the magma chamber of Mount Ngranek; it’s what he would have wanted.”
*
Now my old boss lies comatose, forever bleeding from the wounds the elder inflicted on him in its last, final rampage. We don’t know if he’ll ever wake, at least not for more than hour, or with anything resembling lucidity. Until that day the ward is packed to the brim with defences: Armed guards, military grade wards, a SCORPION STARE network kept under manual control with the automated targeting firmly set to OFF. The hospital is even patrolled by members of the FISHER GUARD, as if that’s supposed to be in any way at all reassuring.
*
Well I’ve made it this far, no thanks to God, she thinks, and throws herself off the edge of the cliff to the ice and rocks below.
*
“We did have a betting pool on seeing who could make the fairy bitch throw up, but she had a stronger stomach than expected. C’est la vie.”
*
The two figures wheel and turn, signing their odd little salute with military precision.
But they aren’t quite military, are they? Not the sort that show up on parade grounds, anyway. There’s a slouch to them, an apex predator’s lounge, like lions basking in the sun. Relaxed, in a way that shows off their primal power, secure in the knowledge that they are the undisputed kings of the savannah. Their gaudy trinkets and the calculated carelessness of their uniforms make Mo think of Special Forces, the sort who go mad after too many years in the sandbox and turn out to have been taking scalps and shooting children.
* So upset were the Yag, in fact, that they impaled a dozen Americans upon blunted spikes as a result. The incident received a significant amount of airtime, and may well have cost the previous President the election. But it definitely did a good job of raising awareness; as the Tsalal themselves argued, the twelve unlucky victims were only a fraction of the Yag citizens who had died in the last years floods, which the lords of the Vale angrily attributed to anthropogenic global warming.
"Sure, Eggman saving Tails from Orbot in Colors was uncharacterisically nice… but you’re not going to use an example from a game written by Pontaff[...] You would be consistent, right?" Hi there! I did just that; I wrote a post called "Eggman has always had redeeming qualities" that does cite that! (He actually saved Tails from Cubot in Lost World, but I get what you mean.) I like both Pontaff and Flynn! Pontaff brought final-boss Eggman back to 3D Sonic, which I liked along with Flynn's Eggdad.
Oh, hello! I have read your post :)
(ignore the typo lmao, yes I meant Lost World)
It's well written, but I disagree on a few fronts.
Eggman saved Sonic from the lava in Underground Zone, but I doubt that it comes from the goodness of his heart. At best, you can see it as Eggman wanting Sonic to die by his own hands - why would he place him in the pit where the Mecha Antlion rests? He wants his creation to kill his archnemesis. At worst, he knows that Sonic by that point should have a Chaos Emerald, so he won't take any chance.
Eggman doesn't want the world destroyed, that much is true. This is why Gerald's actions horrify him, and why the pedestal on which he put his grandfather broke in SA2. But it's because he wants to conquer the world for himself: he says as much in the cutscene before Sky Troops in ShTH. I also really wouldn't want to use Eggman's portrayal in that game to prove Eggman's best qualities: there is a whole path where Eggman takes delight in gaslighting Shadow for his own amusement, one of the few instances where he personally harms someone.
Speaking of which, while in English he implies that he cares about humanity's value, he's vaguer in Japanese: "He sold the planet's future for his own research results!?". Again, fits better with the idea that he wants the planet for himself.
And while on the subject, @colony-drop-program broke down the part where Eggman confesses the truth to Shadow during the Devil Doom battle much better than I ever could.
Eggman feeding Mr. Pickle is the bare minimum. Of course he'd need him alive, well and cooperative. Also, you mention Tails being kidnapped in S2 8-bit, but what about the fact that the bad ending is often interpreted as Eggman killing Tails? Technically it's not canon, but then again, the canonicity of the 8-bit games in general is up to debate.
Finally, my whole gripe with Eggdad is not that Eggman is a whole ass heartless monster straight from hell, or that being a dad is incompatible with being a villain. I also saw your post about how Eggdad makes Eggman more contemptible because he can understand love, he just doesn't care, which yea, in a vacuum, I agree with you. But I think Eggman developing nurturing qualities for an AI is OOC, for him, because no single positive trait of his would lead to him thinking of an AI as a daughter in an affectionate way, and there is proof upon proof of the opposite, Eggman mistreating his own creations and treating them as disposable, no matter how humanoid. Eggman being proud of the complexity of his creation? Absolutely, that is in character. Eggman going on an ego trip over how he created something very similar to life with his own hands, as one of the Egg Memoes says? Yep, also makes sense. Eggman getting emotional over the death of Sage? Unlikely, and also cheap since he was immediately able to recreate her from scratch, memories and all. It doesn't help that in the game itself, the two don't really... bond? Eggman spends most of his time bitching to Sage that he wants to get out. Besides, the fandom has already reduced Eggman to a softie, just like in the good Sonic X days, and not really considering the complexity of a fatherly villain - it doesn't help that Eggman does literally nothing in the game, let alone something evil, except for laughing at Sonic's comatose state. I have... a lot of problems with Eggman in Frontiers, and Eggdad was the last straw. Fun fact: Eggman's "feminist" trait is not present in the Japanese manual of Sonic Heroes, but it proves your point in a different way. Here's the page coming from this archived version:
Tumblr media
As the name suggests, he's an evil genius scientist with a body like an egg. He boasts an IQ of 300 and he's an authority on robotics.
Although he is an evil genius scientist, he loves world domination, probably because of his childish personality. Despite failing many times in the past, he comes up with a larger-scale world domination operation every time!
Sonic, who always gets in his way, is truly his eternal nemesis. However, deep down in his heart, there seems to be a part of him that holds him in high regard, and he has a diligent side, to the point that he goes out of his way to send a letter of challenge.
I don't understand why the bio makes Eggman sounds like he has feelings for Sonic, but I swear that that's what "憎からず思っている" means, you can look it up :V and this exact description was recycled for Origins lmao. So, if you want to prove that Eggman is not completely rotten, there you go, he holds Sonic dear in his heart apparently!
And I agree that there is really no pragmatic reason why Eggman saved Tails in Lost World, and I do like his "I'm a complicated guy" line :)
I understand your stance, and you explained it well, especially in the more recent post. If I have to accept Eggdad, I'll definitely accept him as an hypocritical figure who only cares about his creation but won't extend the same empathy to the children he's trying to kill :P in any case, I appreciate that you came to me in a civil tone despite our divergences, it's not to take for granted ^^ obviously if you like both Pontaff and Flynn my snarky remark does not apply to you, I was talking about the ones who are very biased.
Bleach Au/crossover idea
There was a crossover-story from a few years back that had Kenpachi Zaraki thrown into another world, accidentally one-shot the resident king in the process and then battle the heroes who try to avenge the victim. Characterization was a tad...lets say off at times, overall it was fun though, especially the fight scenes. But it's sadly discontinued. Here's the link.
Wanted something similar ever since, maybe with a slightly different starting premise. Here's an idea I think could be hilarious.
Set after the 1000 year blood war arc - the immense energies set free from the death of the soul king created gateways to different dimensions/worlds. Some of these worlds have inhabitants that can interact with spirits and they request help from the Shinigami, because the big villains now resort to adding powerful Hollows to their already dangerous armies.
Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on the viewpoint) Kyoraku is willing to send help and takes the opportunity to lend out a very bored Kenpachi to the various worlds. Bad case scenario the guy comes back just as bored as before, in which case Kyoraku might at least get some funny complaining about how much the latest enemies sucked during a drinking night. Best case scenario they get their resident Blood Knight back in a good mood.
Worst case scenario they get another war due to incidents. To prevent this possibility whoever seeks help is first sat down by someone and given The Zaraki Manual. In translated writing, with more detailed explanation if need be. And this will have to be signed in duplicate and serve as binding contract so no one can say they weren't warned!
Don't let him wander off on his own, he will get lost!
Never get in his line of attack or fighting range!
Never challenge him to a fight!
Do not accept a challenge to a fight from him!
Don't let him fight in areas you want to stay undamaged.
We do want him back. Backstabbing and fishy accidents will result in retaliation. We will find out!
We will take no responsibility nor allow/mete out disciplinary actions for anything that happened because you weren't following these rules!
The Shinigami returns to the Seireitei after the latest seekers of aid are suitably weirded out by the instructions and accompanied advises like: “Try handling him like a particularly dangerous arrow or bomb. Point him towards the enemy - close enough that he can sense their energy or see them, remember the getting lost bit - and let go. And it would be nice if you don't show him the list.”
And then Kenpachi is left with some kind of translation gimmick, no Gentei Kaijo, a pat on the back along a cheerful 'Have fun!' and let loose on the denizens of the other world.
Just thirsty for the shocked and appalled WTF!-reactions unsuspecting people usually get by being confronted with Zaraki's special brand of crazy in action. Can't ever get enough of that. Ah, well..
some detailed thoughts about the Relink's ending (a whole post will be dedicated to coming back to the whole game)
where did i stop. ah yeah. Rolan our Princess in distress. Ouh boy.
-first of all, big hype for the game to have this many fake endings. always keeping in on my toes like "what do you mean it's not over"
-The last official island was so fucking scary. The ambiance was really top notch but at what cost. Truly "there's no reason for the skies to be blue" call back.
-Having to fight dark versions of all the big boss primals we fought so far was really cool, it's fun also to see how much more used we are to them now.
Tumblr media
Io is so funny.
-ID IS MY BEST FRIEND I WANT TO KISS HIS FACE IM SO AAAAAAAAH. When he came to join us i was crying i'm so happy.
Tumblr media
-The reveal about what he is was great though. I did wonder about it before but i thought connecting him directly to Bahamut would have been maybe a little too big. But in the end, that was what the game was going for anyway lmao. But that does explain why Id found a bit of his humanity back by being around Lyria. She probably pulled him out of the mind-restrainer that way.
(speaking of which i mentioned as soon as Lyria appeared with that collar that Id had the same around his neck but no one was bringing it up in game so i thought i was insane about it. So glad i was right. So not glad of how it was confirmed.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-This is SOOO RAGAZZO CORE THOUGH.
Like honestly Lilith was a great mix of multiple Granblue antagonists: she has a bit of all the astrals in her like i mentioned earlier, the fact her final boss battle was her fusing with a primal in desperation is really like Freesia, stuff like that....... but her relationship with Id in particular was REALLY a lot like Ferdinand and Ragazzo it was chilling to see.
she "adopted him" and immediately put a mind control collar on his neck, in order to lock a god inside of him because the god thwarted her plans, but she taught Id how to use this power, and have him be her son. so when he betrayed her, she played the whole ":) mom is so sad for your betrayal" which is exactly how Ferdinand played off Ragazzo's betrayal.
So like "grooming children into becoming her pawns and not telling them that in her greater plan there is only pain" is sooo Ferdinand coded--
but it's Id's way of, after realizing the abuse and horrors, still loving his mother so much, but in a way where he understands she needs to be taken down, so it's his responsibility as a son at least to take her down for all the horrors..... this is soooo Ragazzo coded.
also the way Id turns into a dragon form reminds me of Ragazzo's harmonized form which adds to the whole thing. + Lilith actually harming him in order to turn him into a weapon she intends to use, only for him to throw her off the island. again, very Ferdinand&Ragazzo coded.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the way they all immediately adopted him is making me cry though, always
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Id we have a few people in our crew that started off by kidnapping Lyria and now are our besties. you'll fit right in.
-the two others generals also coming to help us with the bosses + against Lilith waas SO FUCKING COOOOL . I think they're so neat. I love Granblue's insistance on redeeming about everyone.
Tumblr media
-amazing line from Vyrn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Literally would kill for Id.
Tumblr media
-always loving a good power of friendship.
-The boss fight against Lilith was really cool. had a lot of brainworms about astrals' mentality and the way they basically are so self reliant they just see how they get to use others for their own gain, not how they can be helped
-which now makes me think is probably why Rolan felt so ashamed that he did start out "using us" against Lilith instead of just relying on us, knowing that this would be the same result anyway. Like i think it's fine and all but it explains the guilt he felt so much.
-Anyway final fight with Lilith, and she breaks the mindcontrol collar from Id, and if it's manually broken it drives people insane, which, linked to his bond with Bahamut, just unleashes a rampaging Bahamut on the skies. huh oh.
but ofc determined to save Id and all, we go on:
Tumblr media
-This made me chuckle and cry at once. Eugen knows so well the suffering he brought his daughter by being such a shitty father and he knows she doesn't want him to fix it and everything, that now he sees any kid with a failure of a parent and he's like "it's okay i can be your parent now too.". What a guy.
Tumblr media
-btw next ticket went to Ferry
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-cried during this part so took screenshot. Pure quintessential granblue experience.
then we have to fight a rampaging Id and just.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Id is a good boy and i love him so much
Tumblr media
-^this was so funny to me. so real.
-ANYWAY NOOOOO ROLAN
-We really need to do something about Danchou's habit of just, jumping into danger without a back up plan.
-Id and Danchou jumped in an alternative dimension trying to repeal the Bahamut inside of Id, and Rolan came to save us out of it...... but was locked behind in the dimension.
-which is horrible.
-he made sure we knew he's alive though so there's still hope we'll get him back
-here's how Lucifer coming back can still win--
so we're adding Rolan to the list of our alternate besties we need to get back. LUCIO COME BACK HERE AND OPEN THOSE FUCKING DOORS.
-Id, of course, has survivor guilt and feels terrible about it. and since he was our enemy he doesn't get why we're so chill with him.
and this was adorable:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-crying in the club:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-The ending song was fucking heartbreaking i was just crying through it.
-Anyway post game campaign is basically, we're going back to Folca and people are lost now that Rolan is gone, and Id feels so guilty he wants to take over what Rolan used to do, so we decide to help him out, and tadaa. The more we play the game and sidequests to help Id build his reputation as Mister Fix It the more we'll get some plots about Id reclaiming his own life now and everything.
-All in all the game was just perfect and i cried a lot
-the battles were all so, so damn amazing and it was a blast to play through every time
-what a game.
Taking good gposes without reshade or 3rd party tools
Tumblr media
this post was made for like, 2 of my mutuals. full disclosure i dont entirely gaf if you do or do not use plugins or reshade- but a lot of tutorials i can find usually like to say "use shaders!" instead of showing how vanilla tools are good. this ones for you console players. It's a bit lengthy so I kept it under the cut for scrolling convenience.
My character only has cosmetic mods on for this tutorial. I did not use anything that I could not access using vanilla methods and menus, my shaders are off for this demonstration.
PART 1, some tricks in the gpose menu
a few that I personally have picked up from poking around in the menu this is one I like to use for decent angles, minions!
Tumblr media
Any minion that could sit on your shoulder (head for lalas) is like a second camera. I use nanamo here as an example as she's relatively easy to get and Midgardsormr does not get on your shoulder with /beckon the way other minions do
Tumblr media Tumblr media
left is nanamo targeted, and right is with my character targeted. See the difference? This could give you a different variety of angles that would be difficult to achieve otherwise
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also like using tools like the talking animations to get different types of expressions. you could achieve a D:< face like above, or a :D face if you use /smile
Tumblr media
last trick and one I will be using for this tutorial is Explorer Mode accessed via duty finder, this allows you to use battle moves that could assist in a more dynamic shot, as well as letting you access cool dungeons to walk through
Tumblr media
like this! though if the effects are bothering you you could turn it off with this button, please note that you cannot turn off battle effects for every move
Tumblr media
Part 2, let's get gposing
Tumblr media
Now that you have an idea and pose (I used whm lb3 to get this) when you enter the gpose menu, the first thing that you'd notice is that it is very dark. Manual light adjustment usually remedies that
Tumblr media Tumblr media
a look at what i have used, and a walk through of what every button does. I forgot to mention screen effect, which again is pretty straightforward- in the past I've used the particle effect to be more "glittery." though do feel free to play with it.
You may notice in the back of the picture, there is a blue torch. I really want that blue light to hit my character, but it's not doing that now because ffxiv's lighting engine was nerfed tremendously to help load. All I have to do to give that light to my character is move the camera in the position I want it to (i put it as far back as possible so I am as close to the torch as I can be)
Tumblr media
et voila, there is now blue light. The way lighting works is that you have 3 lights, and each with 3 "types" type 3 is most intense, while type 1 is the least. The sliders show which color is most intense, I just slid blue up all the way to have it be the brightest.
Tumblr media
nearly forgotten about the pesky shortcut portal though. to hide this you can switch to the bottom most button in the lefthand column, and switch from "show all" to "self only" though if this is a group shot, change it to "PCs only" (i think thats the term)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
you could also see in this shot my "character lighting" slider is up, this is how intensely light affects your character- mine is relatively low here because I do not want the light to be too intense.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and lastly, i used limb darkening (as well as using the cinematic frame in the 2nd button lefthand column. the one not affected by camera movement. I find the frames pretty straightforward but let me know if you'd like me to talk more about them) you could tell the difference in mood. left is without, and right is with. It depends on the vibe you want, but I personally always think a teensy vignette can do a lot for a picture
Tumblr media
and with that, this is the final result, and the one I showed at the beginning! Though not necessary, you could always take it a step further and run it through an editing program (personal recommendation if you want something free is photopea, which is an in-browser photoshop replica) or even using photography knowledge like rule of thirds & color story. but this is still much, much better than what we have started with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
how far we've come....
[Elden Ring 5e] Otherworldly Patron: The Flame of Ruin
Tumblr media
[IMAGE ID: Elden Ring screenshot of a mage on horseback summoning an orb of flames to shine on a twisted abomination resembling an undead humanoid with too many arms. End ID.]
The gods have fought many battles in the past against countless foes - some more deserving than others. One of the most bitter wars conducted by the gods was against the so-called “Fell God”, the patron deity of a clan of fire giants. The only record of this war that remains is the insistence by the victors that it was necessary
However, the Flame of Ruin that the fire giants worshipped still smoulders at the mountain’s peak. For those seeking ruinous, eldritch power, it is a veritable font of strength: a flame that the gods once feared. As such, there are secret orders of acolytes who draw power from the flames with the express purpose of keeping it hidden. You are one of the few who would dare use the flames to your own ends.
Includes:
A new warlock subclass
New eldritch invocations
New spells
Expanded Spell List
1st: Absorb elements, burning hands
2nd: Aganazzar’s scorcher*, enlarge/reduce
3rd: Fireball, Melf’s minute meteors
4th: Fire shield, wall of fire
5th: Destructive wave, immolation
*found in Xanathar’s Guide to Everything
Visage of the Fell God
Starting at 1st level, you learn the produce flame cantrip. This does not count against your number of learned cantrips.Furthermore, you learn a lost secret to harness the power of the fire giants. When your current hit points are less than half of your maximum hit points, you can use an action to sacrifice your life energy for further ruinous strength. The bizarre one-eyed visage of the Fell God erupts from your chest and you gain the following traits for the next minute:
You reduce your hit point maximum by half.
You restore all your hit points and spell slots.
You become resistant to fire damage and cold damage. If you already have resistance to fire damage from another source, you are immune to fire damage.
You can use the visage of the Fell God as an arcane focus for your warlock spells. When you cast a spell that deals fire damage in this way, you deal extra damage equal to your spellcasting ability modifier.
When you take this special action, you cannot do so again until after you finish a long rest.
Flame Dance
Beginning at 6th level, you gain an additional benefit to your Pact Boon.
Pact of the Blade. When your pact weapon is a whip and you attack with it as an action, you can attack again on the same turn as a bonus action. When you do so, the damage type becomes fire.
Pact of the Chain. Your familiar can be a half-ogre (see Monster Manual). Its creature type is giant instead of celestial, fey, or fiend. It can use its reaction to deliver produce flame when you cast it, using its own senses to target a creature within range of itself.
Pact of the Tome. When you cast produce flame, you can instead unleash it as a melee spell attack. When you do so, your target and any other creatures of your choice within 5 feet of it take additional fire damage equal to your spellcasting ability modifier.
Fire Monk Incantation
Starting at 10th level, you can call upon the flames of the fire giants to bolster your flesh. Incant one of the following prayers as an action, beating your breast with a closed fist.
Flame, Cleanse Me. You remove the poisoned, blinded, and deafened conditions from yourself.
Flame, Grant Me Strength. When you next roll damage dice to determine fire damage, take the maximum result on a number of dice up to your level.
Flame, Protect Me. You have advantage on saving throws until the end of your next turn.You can utter these incantations a number of times equal to your spellcasting ability modifier, after which you must take a long rest to do so again.
Guardian of the Flame
Starting at 14th level, your connection with the long-dead Fell God deepens. When you take on the Visage of the Fell God, you gain the following additional benefits:
Your size increases by one size category. If you are under the effects of an enlarge spell, the spell’s duration extends to match the duration of this feature and does not require concentration.
Spells you cast that deal fire damage deal double damage to plants, objects, and structures. Furthermore, you can cast any cantrip that deals fire damage as a bonus action.
When you transform, any hostile creature that is smaller than you that can see you must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed saving throw, it is frightened of you until the transformation ends.
Eldritch Invocations
Fell Familiar
Prerequisite: Pact of the Chain, 8th level
When your familiar is a half-ogre and within 100 feet of you, it also transforms when you use your Visage of the Fell God with a grotesque visage of its own. While you are transformed, it gains the following traits:
It becomes Huge.
It is immune to fire damage.
It can use its action to spew volcanic fire around itself. All creatures within 15 feet of the giant must make a Dexterity saving throw or take fire damage equal to your level.
It has advantage on Charisma (Intimidation) checks and uses your spellcasting ability modifier for Charisma checks instead of its own Charisma
Kindling Sacrifice
Prerequisite: Pact of the Tome, 14th level
You have learned of an ancient, blasphemous prophecy that foretells the ruin of the gods; you can use an element of the legend to use this power in a way that was foretold. You can cast teleport by burning an effigy of a kindling maiden worth 100gp for each creature being teleported as a special material component. The flames engulf the creatures being teleported and they reappear at the target destination, waking up as if from a deep sleep.
When you cast the spell in this way, you can reroll on the familiarity table if you roll “mishap”. Furthermore, you can teleport to any place that you have only seen or only know of by description with a 100% chance of success, granted that it is of legendary importance in your world (DM’s discretion).
You may also cast plane shift or dream of the blue veil using this invocation. To do so, construct an effigy worth twice as much for plane shift or three times as much for dream of the blue veil and select a destination that is spoken of in legend in your world. When you cast any spell using an effigy, you cannot cast a spell in this way again until you finish a long rest.
Spells
Fire’s Deadly Sin
3rd-level Conjuration
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self
Target: Self (5ft radius)
Components: V S
Duration: One minute
Classes: Druid, Cleric, Warlock
You call upon the flames of ruin to consume your flesh. For the duration, you are engulfed in ruinous flames, shedding bright light in a 15-foot radius and dim light in for a further 15 feet. You sacrifice a hit die when you cast this spell and at the start of your turn for the duration. Creatures that come within 10 feet of you for the first time on their turn must make a Dexterity saving throw or take fire damage equal to double the hit dice you have sacrificed thus far, or half as much on a successful save. Flammable objects that are not being worn or carried and structures that come within 5 feet of you burst into flames. The spell ends if you run out of hit dice or use a bonus action to end it early.
Flame, Fall Upon Them
5th-level Conjuration
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 200 feet
Target: A 25-foot radius area within range
Components: V S M (A pinch of brimstone)
Duration: Instantaneous
Classes: Druid, Cleric, Warlock
You hurl flames at a 25-foot radius area within range. Creatures caught in the area must make a Dexterity saving throw or take 7d10 fire damage, or half as much on a success. The targets have disadvantage on the saving throw if you are at least 20 feet above them. You may also cast this spell if there is an obstacle in the way that is less than 200 feet tall, but the targets will have advantage on the saving throw.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the spell deals an extra 1d10 damage per spell level above 5th.
Flame of the Fell God
6th-level Conjuration
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 60 feetTarget: An unoccupied space of your choice within range
Components: V S M (A pinch of brimstone)
Duration: Up to 1 minute (concentration)
Classes: Druid, Cleric, Warlock
A 15-foot-diameter sphere of fire appears in an unoccupied space of your choice within range and lasts for the duration. Any creature that ends its turn within 5 feet of the sphere must make a Dexterity saving throw. The creature takes 5d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Furthermore, the sphere unleashes a blast of hot air in a radius of 10 feet around it at the end of your turn. Creatures hit with the hot air must make a Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
As a bonus action, you can move the sphere up to 30 feet. If you ram the sphere into a creature, that creature must make the saving throw against the sphere’s damage, and the sphere stops moving this turn. When you move the sphere, you can direct it over barriers up to 5 feet tall and jump it across pits up to 10 feet wide. The sphere ignites flammable objects not being worn or carried, and it sheds bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light for an additional 20 feet.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, the damage increases by 2d6 for each slot level above 6th.
doomsday o clock…. can i know more about jay and / or tyler :) i like their designs (also “straight (gay)” made me laugh)
YAYYY DOOMSDAY OCLOCK neither jay nor tyler are as fleshed out as adrian and sparks are BUT they do have stories ❤️
jay was born in 1996 in america after his grandparents + parents immigrated from siberia in the 60s. he was born in california, in which his parents (and grandparents, who lived with him) relatively neglected him. his family held a conservative lifestyle, where his mother was a housewife who tended to jay and her husbands (judgmental) parents (jays grandparents) and his father was the money maker in control of most of the house’s food, money, status, etc. his father was an Unkind man, who would get loud and start arguments when he felt his place was being challenged. and since jay was the unwanted son, his father felt his status as man of the house was challenged regularly for the smallest things. jay, neglected by his mother (who really had no choice in the matter, she tried to placate her husband more than anything to take the focus off of jay) and abused by his father, started sneaking out in middle school, finding a small friend group at school to bring with him to shoplift as a scapegoat, and disregarding his own safety. this worsened the older he got, misdemeanors turning into criminal activity such as selling and doing drugs, underage drinking, breaking and entering, even fighting with police the few times he was caught. jay had landed in juvinele quite a few times, even spending several months alone in the detention center before (unwillingly) returning to his family. this pattern of behavior has led to his development and diagnosis of ASPD. his parents sent him off to psychiatric wards quite a few times, which resulted in his diagnosis when he was 19. he moved out of his parents house soon after and fled to the midwest (florence, kentucky) so his parents could no longer find him, and decided to spend his free time pursuing making indie/electronic music after consulting with a therapist to find healthy outlets, even going to a nearby community college and holding a job at a guitar center. (on that note his theme song is summertime! by jojomber :3)
when the apocalypse started, jay was relatively ruthless at 24 years old. full of energy and pent up anger and repressed trauma, he was a threat to everyone around him, infected or otherwise, especially since running out of his prescribed medication. soon enough, though, his episode ended, and he retreated into the corners of his now abandoned town. eventually, he’d found the local radio station, long since abandoned as well, and used scattered around manuals around the building to put the radio station back into use and into a functional home for himself. currently, jay uses it to play music, both recommendations and his own original songs, and tell surrounding communities or individuals with radios about the weather, incoming shipments of fresh food or supplies from out of the local area, the movement of zombie hordes, etc. because of his usefulness to the surrounding people, he’s been generally deemed useful and a neutral party to both sides, uninvolved in fights or battles or other disputes. bexley (adrian) even supplies him with ssri’s when possible, while both communities give him food and other supplies to keep him alive. he houses people in his station sometimes as well, making the acquaintance of sophie and lance quite a few times :)
ANDDD TYLER TIME i dont own tyler but this is what i got from his creator :D
tyler was raised by your typical evangelical christian family who seemed relatively normal on the outside, but his parents were in truth relatively controlling. while not entirely strict, they liked to control what tyler did in terms of identity and career path, which led to tyler playing football for a lot of his life in high school (with parker). tyler trailed parker for a lot of their high school years, hiding his true feelings and sticking to his side as a side-kick in parker’s endeavors. when the apocalypse started, tyler fled the city of chicago. guilt eventually drove him back to search for parker, but parker was long since gone, deeper in the south by then. tyler spent a lot of his time searching for parker in the apocalypse, usually isolated and avoiding others, until he found himself in sophie’s cabin. he was not above eating human meat by then, which sophie warned him some meals she makes may include some, since animal meat was scarce in the apocalypse, and he’d agreed to it. and, after this delicious meal tyler had eaten, whose corpse does he find dismembered in sophie’s tool shed but parker’s?
the realization tyler had eaten parts of his longtime friend (crush?) ruins him inside and out. sophie realizes what must have happened and apologizes to tyler and tries her best to comfort him, but tyler, obviously freaking the fuck out, flinches away from her and runs. he doesn’t touch meat again after that, traumatized by night terrors and overwhelmingnausea upon even thinking about it.
tyler survives the rest of the apocalypse (somehow), entirely in a fugue state, and lands himself in the same government facility as sparks. sparks comforts him, spends sleepless nights with him, takes care of him, and helps tyler accept himself and what had happened so long ago. they get together and love each other very much :)
dawnclan has 80+ cats now, which is insane to try and manage, and i haven't yet decided if i am going to manually trim it down or let the game do so... but we have reached 100+ moons as well! the era of the first round of cats will be closing soon and focusing more on the following generation (which would be brightstorm, eagleburn, etc.) after i wrap up all of the drabbles i have planned.
in the meantime, here are some Very Pretty Kitties(TM) from this huge clan.
Tumblr media
BISMUTHFANG. abandoned by his twolegs, he was brought back by members of the clan out on patrol to be nursed back to health. in gratitude, he chose to stay even after being taken back to a local twoleg nest.
Tumblr media
SPLINTERWATCHER. a grandkit of one of the original clan founders (ghoststripe), his legacy lives on in the form of her and her brother, harecatcher. nobody speaks a whisper of it, but it is known that her father is a grassclan tom. smokeylaurel refuses to explain herself when asked in private, and for the time being, darkstar has chosen not to scrutinize this obvious breaking of the warrior code.
Tumblr media
LOGPAW. another kit of creekberry and slatespots' empire family. surviving an outbreak of kittencough, logpaw was the lucky one, as her sister, timberkit, passed after a two moon battle with the sickness. as a result, while having no lingering illness in her, she's extra doted on by her parents and siblings--which can be overwhelming when you're a family of over fifteen cats. her goal is to become the fiercest, most ferocious warrior dawnclan has ever seen to combat this.
Tumblr media
SAPBEAK. daughter of petuniadapple, one of the current medicine cats, sapbeak was taken by twolegs just after her warrior ceremony. in the last moon, she managed to return, citing her intense desire to see her father again. she struggles to be allowed out of his sight, especially when returning to her duties, but secretly adores the attention.
Tumblr media
BEAVERPELT. another slatespots' grandchild, a shock! a quiet, reserved young she-cat with a knack for taking care of kits and young apprentices. secretly, she doesn't really like the life of a warrior, and wants to be an assistant in the nursery. she enjoys discussing the latest clan happenings with her grandmother, creekberry, in the elders' den.
